This is a great spot to have a bite to eat and watch the game on Sundays. The bar here is large and stretches across the entire restaurant. They have booths and table inside as well as a large patio area. They even have a closed in area adjacent to the patio that can be used year round. The menu is not huge, but the food is high quality. I had the spicy avocado bacon burger and it was delicious, I opted to go with the sweet potato waffle fries and the were crisp and crunchy on the outside yet soft on the inside, perfect! They have a large selection of beers and even offer 32oz crowlers to go. I am just visiting, but if I lived in the area, this place would become a favorite.

I can't say enough great things about this place! Centraal Grand Café is a staple visit for this Chicago girl! I visited this gorgeous little spot years and years ago, and I still can't get enough. I brought my sister up for a day trip to visit Milwaukee and our little trip wouldn't be complete without a little brunch at this delicious spot. (Dinner and the beers are great too!) They have a fun little outdoor section that has a street car with cozy seating! The inside is also fun and worth a look. The food here is fresh and creative. I had their Braised Beef, Beets, and Goat Cheese Scramble. It was incredible! Whoever thought beets and beef to together like this, knows what's up! Don't forget some donut holes and a yummy bloody mary, or a mimosa to go along with your meal. So worth the drive! See you soon friends! Can't wait to see what you're cooking up next!

Was so delicious! Super cute spot with delicious food and very friendly servers! Danny (?!) was great and very helpful. The chilaquiles was delicious. My boyfriend ate the French toast in 2 minutes, it was so good. We also got the donut things - v yummy. Also!!! Fresh OJ in a cold glass was a perfect touch.

When you walk in, the environment is spot on. The monitors showing craft beers, the suit case decorations, even the bar looks premium. The music played was relaxing, definitely nice for a brunch. Moving to the food, the cinnamon stroodle French toast was is what me and my friend ordered. Presentation wise, everything was present. Flavor wise, it melts in your mouth. It is very sweet, almost overpowering the cinnamon. However, the crunch of the French toast makes up for it. If you're a texture eater like me, you'll enjoy this dish.

Fast and friendly service. I enjoyed the Bayview burger. This is a wonderful, locally owned place and a gem. I also enjoyed a strawberry cider, which was highly recommended by the kind and knowledgeable bartender.

The chicken frites was sooo good 🤤 10/10!! The only thing that sucked was that the fries were SUPER salty 😭 next time I’m letting them know lightly salt my food. My boyfriend has a sammi sandwich and it was standard 7/10. Will come back though! Great atmosphere.

I visited a few weeks ago and it was arguably one of the best experiences I've had in Bayview. My server Alexis was phenomenal! She gave excellent service, was very knowledgeable, and approached me with a smile every single time. She made incredible recommendations for food and drinks which I accepted and was so happy that I did. Daniel the bartender was really good as well, checking in on me throughout the night and creating a wonderful atmosphere. Overall amazing visit and will gladly be returning soon!

Good service and great food and cocktails! Many options for plant-based diets. I had the vegan cauliflower masala and it was excellent. The basket of fries was delish, they come with two sauce options. We opted for their sriracha aioli and the jalapeño cream. Try their cocktails as well - I had the Serengeti Sunset and it was great. Great decor as well. Will definitely be back!

We dined with a group of 4 families. Service was relatively quick and always friendly. I love the lowlands group restaurants and this might be my favorite. 30 beer options on tap, each in a group of 5 for different flight options. Almost everything was tempting. Ambiance is wonderful, everything was clean, and the food was tasty. We had a great time and would be back often if it wasnt so far from us.

Really cool interior with comfortable seating. Bar looks really great too. Food was fantastic with a lot of options for any taste. Had the Peri Peri Chicken and Chicken Avocado sandwich, both were excellent. Good deal on the flight of beers too. Highly recommend and will be back!

I’ve been to Centraal a few times, but this was the best experience we’ve ever had here! Our server Sophie was one of the best servers we’ve ever had. She was super friendly and more than willing to accommodate to our vegan diet. Always on my recommendation list when hitting restaurants in bay view :)

Update 8/27/2022 with picture. Came back with boyfriend and had the mushroom soup, the tostadas, and the lamb meatballs. Also amazing! The appetizer with the pita and dip was my favorite part but all the dishes my 4 other family members and i ordered were delicious. Waitstaff was superb

Had dinner for 4 tonight. Drinks and service are good. Food was good , but not great. The vibe is nice, we even had live music with a guitar soloist. I had Avocado grilled chicken sandwich - other dish was lemon orzo chicken. Again food was 3 stars, location earns another star.

We had our rehearsal dinner at Cafe Centraal and everything was perfect! All of our guests absolutely loved the food! The back room is perfect for parties and our two waitresses were very attentive to the whole group.

Friday night Fish fry!!! Unique rendition on fish fry, traditional fried cod with fries. However, seasoned after frying with old bay which brought another level of flavor with a little spice. Old fashioned also stepped up a notch! Worth a Friday night!

Great spot for brunch! We also had a great waitress who gave us recommendations and was very fun and friendly! We visit Milwaukee several times a year and we will definitely be coming back here again as there were so many things on the menu that looked fantastic! I was happy to see they had Mocktails and the pomegranate “mock” arita was so good! I enjoyed the cheesy gooey spicy mess and my husband had the Buttermilk chicken and biscuit. Both were fabulous.

3.5 stars. Staple of Bayview and excellent food. Service the last 2 times has been below subpar. Didn’t leave a review after last time because admittedly, their brunch is packed to the brim. Dinner service was average at best. Empty waters, long wait times for drinks, 25+ minutes to take back the check. Aoili is iconic and appetizers fantastic. Disappointing service though.

My partner and I frequent Centraal Cafe very often, it is probably our favorite spot in Milwaukee. The staff are absolutely AMAZING, the atmosphere is beautiful and the food is always exceptionally delicious.

We had been on the road for 3.5 hours with 5 more hours to go, and really craving a BLT. Not only did they seat us in a quiet section of the restaurant so my service dog had plenty of room, and I could comfortably enjoy the ambiance with a brain injury, they also made us an exceptionally delicious BLT, even though, it wasn't technically on the menu. Hands down the best BLT I've ever had...heaven in my mouth. Milwaukee, I love you. Thank you for treating us with thoughtful compassion.

In town for the holidays. Sat at the bar. Staff was lovely, busy, but attentive enough. It’s so hard to find a place that offers Gluten Free bread for sandwiches or burgers, etc. and the bread doesn’t fall apart like sawdust cuz it’s been sitting on a shelf in the back for so long. Not here. I ordered the BELT-A on gf bun and I was brought to tears. It’s ok you can laugh. I haven’t enjoyed a normal, yummy sandwich in so long. It made my entire month. Thank you.

Excellent food experience! I had the mke cheesesteak omelette. My mom had sides:A scrambled egg, a biscuit, and bacon. My omellete was one of the top I've ever eaten, flavor was next level. My mom raved about her scrambled egg, she made me taste it! It was made to perfection. Our waitress, while friendly, may not have gotten her wake and bake in[we got there around 10am] I could tell she wasn't on her game. Spilled water on the table, was about to give us someone else's check. Didnt check on us for a while. She was cool though. Final grade A-. I'll definitely come back!

Highly recommend for a great lunch spot. Beautiful interior, unique menu with global flavors, and superb service. Table was in the warm tent outside for social distancing. Ordered the Smoked Salmon Kimchi Club. Yum!

Nice outdoor seating and great atmosphere! Chicken and a biscuit was super delicious and had a tasty chorizo gravy on top. Yum! Strawberry basil french toast was refreshing. The french toast was super soft and spongy, perfection! The drinks were very tasty and I recommend the early morning/brunch menu! If your planning on going later in the day, try a delicious Bloody Mary (extra spicy 😉). Calm and trendy location, nice views and relaxing

Stopped in to enjoy the new heated patio and fish fry. The patio was excellent, sufficient covering for inclement weather and space heaters for the cold. The food was what you'd expect from the lowlands group. The sliders and "Where's Dave" cocktail were standout. Our server, Robby, was above and beyond excellent. He interacted with our 4 year old and made sure we had everything we wanted whole we were there.

Soooo yummy for brunch!! The rosemary potatoes are a breakfast classic done extremely well. The lemon ricotta pancakes have the perfect texture and light lemony flavor. This place has friendly servers, unique dishes, and yummy brunch cocktails!

Basically most of the restaurants in Bayview are very good. Centraal is one of them that serves quality and delicious European style food in this area. They have great choices for tap beer. You should try at least one of the loaded frites

The experience has gone downhill over the years. It's still strictly okay, but nothing special. I think maybe it was just that they were a little short staffed for a busy Sunday brunch. It's not that the wait was too long or anything, just that everything seems sort of rushed and lackluster.

Solid choice for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Prices for meals are slightly above average, but the food quality makes up for it. Service is friendly and food came after a reasonable wait. Not a alcohol drinker, but Cafe Centraal has a vast selection of drinks and cocktails. Popular with a range of customers and atmosphere has a beer hall feel. Lots of wood, long bar counter, high ceilings and bright natural light.

First time dining at Cafe Central, and the service was what made it worth while. Our server, Diana was welcoming, transparent, and hilarious. I felt like I was talking to an old friend the whole time! I will definitely ask for her the next time I come. The manager, Jack was attentive and kind- assisting my friend and I with a minor problem we had in any way he could. You can tell he really cares for the customers. Usually we like the food here! However, I ordered the pancakes and my boyfriend ordered the cinnamon struesal pancakes and he said that it was great. My pancakes, however, were less than great. They were very flat and dense and a little too brown on top-almost as if the griddle was too hot before cooking. They were also very sour. I'm curious if they use sour cream in their batter; if yes, I would suggest dialing it way back in the batter. If no, something was spoiled in the batter. I probably won't be ordering it again. I wouldn't recommend the staack.

Bloody Mary was excellent beer chaser had to much foam and my mom and wife's chia came out cold. Food was good. I should have got the big gooey mess or eggs Benedict. The frettes were so so. Menu for frettes was confusing when I ordered I wanted sweet potato frette Korean style but instead I got two orders of frettes. It wasn't anyone's fault I am confusing to waitress and it is noisy in restaurant. Serves was good.

For those wondering about the bar, they have some good selections I wasn't expecting, like Jefferson's ocean cask, and a bloody mary menu. They could tone down the kahlua in the alcoholic coffee tho, it's just extra sugar at that point. The mini stroopwafel is adorable.

Busy place on a Friday, but pretty good drinks and food. I liked the "Wiscoquito"--their version of a popular, traditional Puerto Rican Coquito holiday drink. The only thing I didn't like was that I showed up to meet a friend who was at the bar, told this to the door guy, and he basically followed me to the bar to make sure my friend was actually sitting at the bar like I said.

One area for improvement is that our server must have been busy because she was not great about checking on us and refilling drinks. This place is great. Interesting food choices and wonderful atmosphere. The kids menu options are not only kid friendly but healthy and reasonably priced! Which is hard to find... In the summer they open up the walls and it makes it feel like you're eating outside. We got to enjoy the snow through the window this time. Enjoy the brunch sometime, you won't regret it!

Best brunch and Bloody Mary in town! Their eggs benedict has never failed to impress, and their regular chaser is always a delicious Lowlands brewery offering. Except for Belgian beer, this really is an American restaurant, but they really do those typical foods, like a grilled cheese and fries, better than other restaurants I have been to in Milwaukee. They have quite a great beer and vegetarian food selection as well. Hit or miss with the staff though - they can either be incredibly nice, or rude hipsters who will make it known they could care less about you being there.

We went here for my mom's brunch on her birthday! It was super easy to make a reservation(they aren't required, I just like knowing that we will have a table). When we arrived the menus were at pur table and we had the best server! Shoutout to Jacob! He didn't forget a single request or item. As a southerner and an avid chicken-and-waffle consumer I was pleasantly surprised with the best chicken and waffle dish of my life. I tried everything at my party's table and nothing disappointed, the cream of mushroom soup, fish fry, and duck flat bread are some of the highlights. The only downside was a rather long wait for the food but that could've been due to our party size. Easily my favorite restaurant in Milwaukee and I cannot wait to visit again.

After food was delivered typically waiter will check on you, That didn't happen Until time to give us check. I got one of the 2 specials of the day... Smoke salmon omelet, I doubt there was an ounce of salmon. As I'm going over and recounting our experience, Maybe this 3 stars was generous.

I came in for their last service before the renovation, and the place is packed! The locals know that this gastropub is the best social hangout in Bayview. Boasting one of the longest bars in Milwaukee, and a brunch/dinner menu packed with high quality foods, Centraal is the place to eat, drink, and be merry!

Enter the remodeled Centraal and be transported to the mass transit hub of Amsterdam. Vintage luggage fills shelves high above patrons' heads. As a tappery, Centraal has become a beer lover's dream. They offer several curated flights to match your tastes. An "Arrivals/Departures" display lists beer groupings. They also offer wines on tap, as well as other selections. Food is what you'd expect from a Lowland Cafe. I will say, though, that the selections may be more eclectic than you're looking for from a Euro café. They cover perhaps a dozen or so styles. The good news - there's probably something for everyone. And with the quality being what you expect from this restaurant group, Centraal delivers.

Post rebuild visit to a neighborhood fave of mine...had some cider (Schilling Grapefruit & Chill...my current fave), and an order of Kapsalon Frites (new item...fries, kebob beef, some greens, and a mix of red/green fresh jalapenos) if you like spicy...and I do...give it a whirl. Wifey had her fave, mushroom soup, which went from an everyday item to a soup dejour option...tasty as always. Still great food and awesome service.

The atmosphere here is vibrant and food is fantastic. There’s a million places that do fish fry around the area but Centraals is unlike any other I’ve had. Their batter is the perfect blend of cajun and pepper that leaves me wanting more after every bite. They have an extensive beer list which I would have to say is probably overpriced by a dollar or two per beer. Other than that this was a phenomenal dinning experience.

Had a fantastic experience on September 8th. Ambiance is beautiful & comfortable, dinner is affordable & delicious, drinks are really good & not overpriced, and the service is spot on! The bartender was our server for the evening and she did a fantastic job. There was a big party going on and she managed to serve drinks to the party, tend the bar, and regularly check in on our table and make sure we got our food & regular drinks without waiting. The chicken sliders were so good, I ordered a second plate to-go before we left. Centraal gets five stars, I will be returning sooner than later. I've been to much more expensive places in milwaukee with half the value and service that I received last night. My girlfriend and I had an amazing night thanks to Centraal and our amazing server.

Yes!! To this place everything is good everything my friend and I ordered was just great!! I ordered mushroom soup for starters. It was so good I had to have another bowl. And if you love mushrooms it's a must have. Their caramel iced latte will be made just how u tell them u like it. I had to have 2 as well. The vegan dish was great it was like a creamy rice and mushroom blend. And then the thinly sliced steak with noodles and veggies was good too. I'm not a salt person so it was a tad salty for me. But in all great taste.. Had a Crowler as well want to say black cherry.. everyone shouldn't leave without one. 32oz good for 2 to share.

Update: Decor has been remodeled and it is still good as ever. I would say the beer selection is even better. Food is still great. I just love this place. Food is fantastic. Drinks are wonderful. The brunch menu is definitely with being awake before noon on a Sunday. It can get quite busy but the staff busts tail to get you seated and take care of you. Parking is a bit iffy but that's Bayview for ya. My favourite part is that my family *and* my friends all enjoy this place as well. Oh, and the Bloody Marys are perfect every time.

A thunderstorm took out my power and internet for a day and I had a solid day of conference calls. My wife an I had always gone here as a special treat for the food and the wait-staff. Neither of us drink so their selection of import beers was lost on us I'm afraid. Anyway no one in the area had solid internet so I tried them. They easily accommodated me - and all my stuff. Solid internet and a power plug in the booth. Waitress was great. They all really rolled with it. I had their basic cheeseburger with fries which was the best I've had in a long while. The brownie chocolate sundae for dessert. Double thumbs up on both. This place is great as an upscale bar on the corner for meeting friends, having a good meal etc etc. For special night out it would be OK if you do some advance planning since it's kinda loud when it's busy, but definitely do-able, considering the atmosphere and the food.

When it comes to presenting food on a plate for customers, I think Café Centraal is one of the best food-serving places around. Food here looks really really good. I was having a hard time deciding what to eat and watching people around me eat! Sadly though, I made a bad decision and ordered the Short ribs bowl which did look good but did not taste good at all! I ordered something else (crispy chicken) and the waiter was kind enough to take the short rib of the bill without us even asking! The chicken sandwich was very good. Overall this is a really nice place, food and experience. The outdoor patio is super nice and well taken care of and serviced. I would definitely come here again.

Went for lunch with a party of 5. We seated immediately. Our server was attentive and excellent timing. I had the Carolina chicken sandwich with fries. The bread was really good as was the combination of flavors. The chicken however was overcooked and dry. The fries were crispy and yummy. One of us had the turkey blackberry sandwich. She liked the sweet and hot but said there was too much jam and it overwhelmed the turkey. The Asian chicken bowl was just OK. I didn't get feedback from the others. I have been here before had appetizers which were very good.

Came for dinner on the weekend, and was seated right away. This is a beautiful restaurant with a classic feeling to it. The beer selection is amazing, and the staff know how to help you select one that will compliment the meal you're ordering. The food is amazing. This is a place we always come back to because you know the food and experience will be great. It's always busy every time we go, and for good reason. It's just that good! My partner and I have only been there for brunch and it's been delicious every time. Very good ambience, people and tasty food. Serving size is apt for one person. Not too small or too large. Serving a limited menu now because of Covid. The menu is available on their website currently. The inside seating is divided with glass dividers which make you feel safer! They have a heated patio option available, with live music on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays.

This place was incredible. The concept really won me over. We were in late night on a Sunday so I can't say much to the crowd but the design, music, and menu options were top notch. We had the rice balls, perogies, and pot stickers for appetizers. Entrees were the mac and cheese, short rib bowl, Asian chicken ball, and a risotto. Everything was tasty. Our server was lovely. She was very attentive yet not too pushy. I'm not from here but I will be back next time I am.

EB is simply the best. She is the extra flavor to any dish/beverage served at Cafe Centraal. I believe that without her, Centraal would need to be down graded from a Grand Cafe to simply an Okay Cafe or Mediocre Cafe (at best). Visited Centraal on a Saturday for brunch. The service was fantastic as well as the food. As a vegetarian, I appreciated their willingness to accommodate my needs. I also reveled in their non-alcoholic tonics. While I adore a craft cocktail, which Centraal has, sometimes my plans call for a NA drink. Do note, however, that I have had their craft cocktails before and highly recommend them. Do not expect a cheap, dive bar type of cocktail where rum and diet coke is the special. Centraal prides itself on presenting artisan cocktails that are well worth the price. Anyways, my mocktail was just what I wanted for my Sat brunch, the food was delicious, the service was fantastic, and a good time was had by all. Definitely do yourself a favor, make a special trip, and visit this establishment. Do note that like most places their weekend menu is different from their weekly menu. I have tried and recommend both.

They have a very nice patio, good selection of beer and average menu selection. That said, I have certain expectations based on going here when it first opened. It has moved away from its original focus on lowland beers and food which often made the difference to me when choosing where to go. I can understand market force probably drove that shift, but by moving towards mainstream it became just another one of Milwaukee's many good restaurants.

(We also frequent Cafe Centraal when it is not our wedding) First, the food, Cafe Centraal chefs and cooks do an amazing job to deliver great tasting food. Their Bacon Artichoke dip is sooo good and you cannot go wrong with any of their entrees. Secondly, Cafe Centraal's service is extraordinary. We worked with Molly and Korie for our wedding and they are truly excellent at what they do. Moreover, all the servers at Cafe Centraal are knowledgeable with the menu and are friendly. Would recommend this for brunch, lunch on a weekday, dinner date, and take-out.

Extensive collection of beers and an interesting food menu. Everything tasted good. The bartender was very helpful in navigating the beer menu and suggesting things to go with our food. The only downside was it seemed they were out of most beers I was asking for off their menu. I think I managed to hit 5 that they were out of. With a few drinks, dinner can get pricey in a hurry, but it was a fun experience!

Had a great experience both times I recently went to Centraal while staying in Bayview. I loved the options for their bier curation flights, and their cocktails were great too, and very affordable. I was really impressed with the safe COVID precautions they were taking, their customer service and their atmosphere. The food was great, definitely recommend the banh mi sliders and the asian bowl. Would definitely come back!

A really great place to go if your looking for somewhere with 1. Good food (The burgers when medium rare are some of the best in Milwaukee/ also a huge selection of drinks 21+) 2. Good service (The manager there recognized us after more than a month from our first time. The server was more perfect at keeping up with us as well as others, and she was not overbearing) 3. A comfortable atmosphere (nice indoor/outdoor seating with a quiet atmosphere (maybe due to covid) overall great for dates and get togethers.) Overall, me and my S/O have fallen in love with this place after only a couple visits. This place is WORTH the visit and the money spent.

The remodel is finally done! Honestly I didn't notice too much of a difference.. It still has that Hollander vibe going on, the bar is still very large and the space is still very cool. I had their fish fry and let me tell you it was actually fantastic! Highly recommend it, probably will be one of my top fish fry spots from now on. The only downside is I seem to be seated in the back room of the place, which feels like I'm not even in the same restaurant and the service is good but very rushed. All in all it's still a solid restaurant with a great beer selection and now a fantastic fish fry!

March 12, 2021 Update: -1 star. VERY disappointed. We ordered pickup for the first time... mushroom risotto and fish fry. 1. Small portions. Fish fry had a half slice of bread and a handful of fries. 2. Fries were not fully cooked and very soggy. 3. STILL so much heat on things that shouldn’t have ANY. Mushroom risotto and clam chowder were inedible for us. Yes, we’re super white, but so what? Your kitchen tends to ruin just about every traditional dish with all the chili powder and oil they throw on. I don’t know if they’re trying to hide poor quality, it’s impossible to tell really it’s soo spicey. It seems you need to put a hot warning on just about every menu item! See you next year, Cafe Centraal! June 12, 2020 Update: Thanks for re-opening quickly! It was so great to get out and sit down for food again! We had lunch and everything was perfect. Staff wore masks and there was plenty of space. We had the haddock fish fry and a doner kebab sandwich with a new sour. Beer was slow to come but the food came fast, and was delicious. The frites were, amazingly, crispy (hal-lelujah!). Maybe they focused on improving quality during the quarantine—Let’s assume so. However, they were not busy and we wondered if fewer tables had something to do with it. Will quality hold up under a full house? Still miss the thin cut fries, but I’ll take it. Good job, +1 star. But it hasn’t gotten better. Some entrees are actually terrible. Hot pepper is added to everything even if it’s not specified and doesn’t belong. Non-standard entrees, that is, plates on the menu they twisted or created, are weird. Flavors and textures and ingredients are not right or very imbalanced. Fries used to be good, but now are nothing special. Asian and middle eastern plates are still terrible. Specials are usually okay. As one of our go-to’s in Bay View, we keep expecting to find something on the big menu that is delicious and unique, but usually are disappointed. Even just the standard comfort and lowland style plates are mediocre to good, at best. But unfortunately there is much less of that on the new menu. Generally, we avoid for dinner unless going for standard and light plates such as sandwiches, comfort food, and of course, a beer. They seem to be focused on quantity over quality now, which unfortunately makes it nothing special. Better to support the few traditional restaurants left in Milwaukee struggling to stay in business (Old Town Serbian is literally down the road), or hit up any of the number of outstanding brewery or beer bars nearby. American breweries are finally catching up to European stalwarts. We’ll keep trying, but we are weary.

The patio here is absolutely lovely. Good service but the food took along time. Large groups that were sat after us had their food before us. Also our server sat with friends at a table next to us when our food was really taking a long time. I had the sweet potato hash. Wasn't a huge fan but it wasn't their fault I just didn't love it. I've been here for dinner a lot and would probably come back for dinner before brunch.

Our server, Alex, did a great job helping us through the extensive list of beers and made good suggestions for both the beers and the menu. This is a great choice for a weekend brunch if you're in Bay View. The food is always excellent, and the outside seating area is great for people watching. Their selection of beers is top notch and they source locally, including the vodka for their excellent Bloody Marys! The staff is great, but the kitchen can be slow when it's busy.

We've be enjoying Centraal a couple of times per week since you opened. We love the new decor, beer menu and some of the new food items, however please please redirect the ceiling spot light next to the ceiling beer menu that blinds everyone sitting at the bar in the bar chairs. It is so disturbing we are thinking of finding another place in the neighborhood to regularly enjoy. Two of us stopped in for lunch today. First time visit. At after 1 o'clock, the lunch crowd, had already headed back to work. So we were able to get a great table on the patio out back. The food here is just okay. You might want to clear your schedule for a nap after eating here, as most everything on the menu is pretty rich. Beer selection is great, although pretty expensive. The bloody Marys are very good, but once again, a bit on the expensive side for what you get. The bottom line is that there are many other places in the area where the atmosphere and food are just as good, if not better, and you'll leave with a much lower bill. Also, they always seem to scree up at least one thing with my order every time.

We were lucky. The restaurant has just re-opened for inside dining after the COVID lockdown and it wasn't crowded. Very good beer selection as well as mixed drinks and craft sodas. The food was excellent. I had the peri-peri chicken. I was stuffed when I left. The service was friendly and prompt. I would definitely return.

I love Centraal, especially since they remodeled. Their brunch menu is great--I love the Berry Basil French Toast (but I miss the mascarpone that used to come on it!) and the classic Americana. The atmosphere is really inviting, and I love Centraal’s Belgian train station feel. They have a great patio, too. Their drinks are really well-curated, especially their house cocktails—I would recommend “Love in the Time of Limonada”, and their beer suggestions are top-notch. A couple of things to be aware of: They have great fries, but their burgers are honestly a bit of a letdown, so choose something else on the menu. I don’t think they season the patties, and if the patty is bland, the rest of the burger follows suit. Their new gluten-free menu is extremely limited, and honestly should have more items on it, especially because some of the differences between the regular menu vs gluten-free seem arbitrary. Just be aware that they can make some of the regular items gluten-free that aren't listed on the gluten-free menu.

Having experienced Centraal as a host working my way through college, and as a loyal guest who will always make it my first choice for a special occasion, Centraal is less of a restaurant, and more of a family. Centraal gets to know their regulars, and treats them like part of the family. They have one of the longest bars in Milwaukee with one of the largest selections of high-quality, Belgian Biers, including rarities and exclusives that you won't find anywhere else. They have incredible service, who work together as a team to ensure every detail is perfect. Having been gone for four years now, it seems like an eternity, but every time I come back, and I run into someone I know, I feel like I'm being welcomed home.

The food at Centraal Grand Café and Tappery for our wedding rehearsal was amazing and very flavorful, affordable and made our guests leaving full and happy. They have a long curvy bar to sit by, but there is also outside and inside tables, and they have TV's playing sports by the bar. It can get busy.......but worth the wait.

I've eaten the quintessential Belgian mussels and frites at many restaurants offering this theme, including the other restaurants in this group like Benelux and Hollander. I'm not sure why the inconsistency but my meal of mussels and frites yesterday evening was beyond a doubt the worst I've ever had. The mussels themselves were very small and the frites had none of the distinctive flavor derived from fat frying. Beer was great...but meal was quite disappointing.

Their regular menu is great, but their gluten free menu is highly disappointing. Way over priced for barely any food. Gluten free eggs Benedict is pathetic, just a couple of pieces of meat on the plate with 2 eggs. No attempt was made to substitute the English muffin with anything gluten free and the price was the same if not more than the regular menu item with half the food. They got 3 stars because their bloody Mary's are amazing, so that helped make up for the fact that I left brunch still hungry.

I went to Centraal chasing what I heard was a great Bloody Mary, and it didn't disappoint. Located in a gorgeous part of Bay View, everything about this place looked promising. However, the staff was not friendly, and our food took a strangely long time. After watching multiple groups seated what seemed like a long time after us, we asked someone to go check on it. It was just sitting there waiting. Our waitor seemed to have completely forgotten about us, didn't apologize, and even seemed bothered to be serving us. My friends and I found ourselves wondering what we did to upset him, but couldn't figure it out. The food was delicious, though pricy. But the service left a bad taste in my mouth. Hoping to have a better experience next time.

The Central Perk Elixir was a delicious drink and so refreshing! The atmosphere was elegant yet relaxed. The food didn't have a big price tag so you can use the extra cash to try their home made sodas and other beverages! Amy is a great server!

While I enjoyed the food (a burger and eggs), the service was lacking. I was in a party of 2 and received my food far later than other larger tables who were seated after me. The overall wait for food was about 35 minutes. This is after waiting 10 minutes for someone to even take my order. While I waited for my food, the server sat at a table with her friends right next to us. I'm assuming it wasn't her fault that the food was late, but still, it didn't leave a great impression. While waiting for my girlfriend in the bathroom as we were leaving, I heard two of the employees cussing about something. Maybe they were complaining about another customer, an employee, or a situation in general. I'm not sure. Either way, it wasn't something I care to hear while in a restaurant. All in all, the food was good enough to go back, but the overall service will cause me to check out the numerous other establishments before I give Cafe Centraal another chance.

Disappointed in what used to be one of our favorite restaurants. Last night was our second time at Centraal since the remodel (which is beautiful) and sadly both times the food was mediocre (and overpriced). Many of the dishes are overly spicy with no warning on the menu - grilled cheese and broccoli salad, specifically. We used to be regulars, but will likely only be going back for the occasional beer (fun selection) - although I miss the Belgians!

Brunch is fine, but you may have a wait, and there's nothing on the menu that makes it stand apart from any other brunch place on KK. The revamp of the location didn't really fix the problems at Centraal- it's still very loud, it's still tight to get around the tables, and the food is not particularly exciting. If you enjoy beer though, it's hard to find a larger selection.

Eally cool concepts and an excellent space for a location. They're working to perform it all smoothly, that can been seen, but there are significant hiccups with aervixe and dining. The live music is an obvious highlight, ask to be seated in the patio for an experience!

A lot of unique flavors on the menu. Not your normal burger/sandwich place. Non-sandwich options are short but good. One downer for anyone from out of state or simply lovers of cheese curds - they don't sell them. What! Beer lovers will want to spend a solid 5 minutes looking over the lengthy beer menu. The meatloaf is great (gravy makes it) as is the Grilled Chicken Avacado sandwich.

This restaurant has good food although in my opinion is not the best, but better than most others . Don't get me wrong this place is awesome and has good prices, the service is excellent and I frequent this place a lot since it is close to my house. The beer they have from mirobrewreys from the local area taste a little funky but it not their fault. The inside of this place has a unique feel and a huge outdoor seating area is available on nice days as well.

I love Cafe Centraal. The food is pretty good, especially brunch. Some favorites include the Bay View B.E.L.T. (bacon, egg, lettuce and tomato sandwich), the Steak Ceaser Salad, and for brunch the Smoked Salmon Benedict. The food isn't the best part. Come to Cafe Centraal for the tapped (and bottled) European beer selection. It is outstanding. Sour beers are tough to find and they serve seven of them (all bottled I believe). Service is always quality, even during the busiest hours.

Great beer selection, great bartenders, o.k. food for the price, outdoor seating is gorgeous, atmosphere is chill, cozy, cool, slightly European. Like its Lowlands bretheren. $12 burgers seem out of line with the quality, which is decent but not enough to make you feel like you made a great decision. Then again, it's a cool place where people go to be cool, and nothing says you belong like dropping $26 on a burger and one beer. It's not a regular bar, it's positioned to be exceptional, and it just misses the mark. But so what? You're cool, so it doesn't matter. I'll go back because the bar service and the beer selection.

Cafe Centraal has actually become one of my favorite places to go in Bayview. The food is usually always on point and some of the best service I've had. The restaurant itself can be pretty inviting during the day but I prefer to go in the night. The lighting and atmosphere is great for a date night especially during the holidays.

I LOVE this Bayiew restaurant, whether Im sitting at the bar, outside seating (which is gorgeous) or a inside table In always happy. They change the menu alot I noticed (maybe it's seasonal) so if you go online to check out the menu you might want to call ahead to see if it's correct. I like the surprise. They have really good drinks and you get a lot of food for your money. Short Rib was used in several dishes the last time I was there and it was delicious on my tacos.. I would definitely recommend this place.

Fantastic selection of Taperies and delicious food selections. I tired the Aged before Beauty curation which is a selection of 5 beers. The highlight was a Dragons Milk coconut porter which was amazingly complex and tasty. For the Entree we chose the Res Snapper shareable plate. The fish was perfectly cooked nice light crust on the outside and tender flakey flesh inside. It is served with a nice light pesto sauce. For sides there was a couscous and vegetable dish that was a nice accompaniment to the fish and an amazing olive salad. The rest of the menu sounded good also we will go back and try other items.

Pretty expensive for what you get, but not bad. Servers are usually good. Just feels like they try too hard at being a catch all place from fancy eruo dishes to burgers and end up doing them all just...meh. They do have a few exceptions usually around brunch. Solid beer list which is a plus.

We've now been here twice since the reopening and were very happy both times. For dinner we had the mac and cheese and short rib noodle bowl, both of which were deliscious. But the poke appetizer really stole the show. Weve been to a number of sushi restaurants in Milwaukee trying to find good tuna poke and been disappointed, but we found it here surprisingly. For brunch we had the americano plate and breakfast tacos. Both of which were fantastic. Service was also very quick bith times, especially considering how crowded it was. You do want to plan on at least a bit of a wait, but especially at dinner time there are a few nice options to grab a drink nearby while you wait.

Stopped in for Brunch based on the high rating, and was very impressed. Our server was Sarah, and though it was her first day on the floor you never would have known. She was extremely friendly and knowledgable! She even gave us advice on where to visit in the area. I had a gooey, cheesy spicy dish with eggs, sausage and red chile sauce that was absolutely delicious. The very personable young female bartender made one of the best bloody mary's I have ever had (the Milwakeean... I think) spicy and delicious with awesome garnish! The coffee was great... I was a big fan of Cafe Centraal prior to the remodel, so this is difficult to write. Aesthetically, the remodel is very nice, with touches of chrome and dark wood as well as splashes of color. It's a contemporary, modern look that would fit in well today in Amsterdam's central district. Unfortunately, much of the charm of the old location has been lost in the process. Yes, the long bar is still there - but it's been modernized - sleek and cold. You no longer get the mental image of generations of patrons hanging out in this exact spot. Yes, the patio is still there as well. But, the annex, with an entire wall of hand painted Chinese characters, has been covered over. Gone are the rustic wood tables and faux wicker chairs. Gone are the mis-matched posters and light fixtures. Gone is the stack of games that we would play (and actually contributed to over the years). Yes, the new remodel is consistent and cohesive, but much of the charm and history have been exchanged for style and efficiency. Before you accuse me not being able to adapt to change, let me say that I truly enjoy some of the other locations that each have their own unique style. But to know where you are going, you have to know where you have been. I feel that the anchor has been lost. On to the menus. The beer list is still good, but much shorter than it used to be. Same for the food menu. Some favorites are gone. The replacements are not as creative or well designed. My wife misses the Japanese Hitochino beer. For me, loosing the mussels was very hard. But why, oh why, did they have to mess with the frittes? I can forgive many of the changes as the neccessities of progress, but the frittes were the essence of Cafe Centraal. Surely they could have left this alone as an homage to where they started? Unfortunately, no. The paper cones have been replaced by cold stainless steel trays that cause the frittes to get cold in an instant. The sweet potato frittes are available only in waffle cut. And (I believe that) the regular frittes are cut thicker than they used to be. I am loyal, and I will continue to visit this groups many other restaurant locations. I may even visit the Grand Cafe again if I am in Bayview. But, an era has passed and the joy, rooted in it's varied and quirky history, is gone. It's hard to visit without missing what it used to be.

Some of the best and freshest tasting Bloody Marys in Milwaukee (or anywhere, really) are served here; I recommend the Milwaukeean. Seemingly endless beer list, too. Excellent brunch options. If you're going for dinner, the risotto with chicken is great. A+ decor; looks like a big European cafe. Fans of breweriana and advertising will get a charge out of the painting on the wall facing West, a tribute to the classic Fort Pitt Beer "running waiter" symbol.
