Reviews of Café At The Plaza
Now I've loved breakfast all my life, and I've had breakfast from many different places. I don't hesitate to say that the Plaza Benedict is by far the best breakfast dish I've ever had. If you love breakfast as much as I do, I recommend eating here!
Also, I was seated in the courtyard, and gosh that really set the vibe. Beautiful courtyard that's spacious enough to not feel crowded. The growth on the walls really made me feel like I was in a whimsical place, but with breakfast. Highly recommend visiting Cafe at the Plaza.
A hidden gem of Milwaukee... genuinely the best breakfast I've ever had. Our waitress was wonderful and the host who sat us was great as well. The hash browns were the star of the show. They were buttery and soft... my omelet was also delicious. The overall theme/vibe of the cafe was perfect, too. It's stylish, classy, and reminded me of a restaurant that would be in Paris. Definitely give this place a try!
Our fav spot for breakfast in Milwaukee. Sarah is fab and looked after us well at the cafe counter. Chefs know their stuff. Classic good food every time. Thanks team. Love it!!
Food is really solid. I loved the Greek Chicken Egg White Scramble.
Coffee is among the best for Cafes around.
The kitchen was backed up so the wait was about 40 minutes for food, but not sure if that is common or not.
Update: sitting in the alleyway outside was really nice, would recommend. Greek chicken scramble was still delicious :)
Update: the Mexican Scramble with chicken chorizo was tasty. The truffle fried were fairly bland though. The pancake was a great texture, but also not super flavorful. The chicken and waffles I'm told were delicious.
Great location, and you can sit outside!
Friendly staff! Prices can be a bit high but you’re paying for a little bit better quality food. My shrimp and grits was $15 before taxes. Would I come here again?
I always come here!
Get the hashbrowns you’ll thank me later!
I do want to point out the service can be slow at times so be careful.
I am torn between 4 and 5 stars. The speed of service can kill the mood quickly for me, but the quality of the food exceeds average.
SIT OUTSIDE!! This place was so beautiful and the food was wonderful. The staff we interacted with were really nice, and my experience even made me want to stay at the hotel there. The Lemon Poppyseed Pancakes were great, and the 1007 Breakfast Sandwich was delicious too. You have to get one sweet item, one savory item, then split them with whoever you're eating with!
We came here bright and early (7:00 a.m.) for a birthday breakfast.
I appreciate the care and attention given in preparing our meals.
The staff was pleasant and attentive.
We enjoy this local gem 💎 ✨️ ❤️
The pancake was good and the hashbrown that my husband had was also good. However the coffee tasted sour. I ordered decaf and my husband the regular one. We thought it was just the milk so we asked for another one but it still tasted sour. This is the reason why I'm giving this place a 3 stars as coffee is the most important part of my breakfast.
I absolutely love this charming nook of nostalgia. While the serpentine counter evokes the mid-20th century diners, in warmer months I usually opt for the tucked away patio in the courtyard where I instantly feel I've been transported to a French Bistro or an Italian cafe. The food is perfectly prepared with just enough variety to give me several options at each visit. All of my out of town guests anticipate and appreciate brunch at the Cafe at the Plaza and the excellent staff and servers make me shine in my friends' eyes for suggesting it.
I’ve been coming to this cafe for over a decade now, since living in the apartments here while I was in school. This is always a favorite go-to! Relaxing, refined environment with everything you could want for a satisfying breakfast meal. My favorite thing is the lemon poppyseed pancakes with almonds and blueberry sauce. A true Milwaukee destination!
By far the best brunch in town. You can't go wrong with any breakfast item on the menu. The French toast is great. I tend to always get the 1007 breakfast sandwich - amazing. My husband gets the plaza scramble but I bet the eggs Benedict is amazing too. They make perfect eggs anyway you like them every time. 💯 The service is great and atmosphere is wonderful. Always a 5 star experience.
A local recommended...so good 👍
A word of caution if you are afraid of bees don't eat breakfast outside.
Great food, great service and great prices, such a nice place. …
We came here for our anniversary breakfast (we stayed at the Saint Kaite Hotel and were able to walk) the atmosphere (early morning breakfast in the garden) were so romantic. The food was out of this world and I think that the hashbrowns were maybe my favorite ever made. The mimosas were an additional special treat as they allowed us to make them how we prefer.
One thing that threw us for a loop and sent us to Google was the Swastika tiles on the diner floor (the hotel is pre - WWII and a gorgeous piece of architecture... not run by Nazis)
Our server was wonderful and attentive, suggested a tasty dish and freshened coffee and waters.
We all felt very welcome there (especially for a Sunday brunch where other places are very much get-in-and-get-out). The corned beef hash special was awesome. Definitely reccomend!
We had the best experience! We went for my birthday breakfast. A server overheard it was my birthday and brought me a slice of chocolate cake with a lit candle. We ordered a pancake for my 2year and it came out in the shape of Mickey Mouse with chocolate. Service and food is top notch! Can’t recommend enough!
Terrific brunch. The Art Deco ambiance is great, breakfast scramble was delicious and really good Bloody Mary. The only thing missing was a cheese skewer on my Bloody Mary but delicious nonetheless. Hostess, our server and the food runner were very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend
Great spot with a unique vibe. The service and food is always top notch. They have several seating options available (outside in the courtyard, at the diner counter, or sit down tables). The options work great for different situations. The food is focused on breakfast items with a good amount of healthy options. Everything is done nicely and presented well.
Pleasant staff, a relaxed atmosphere, great food and reasonable prices for a hotel restaurant. I ordered the Plaza Scramble and could only finish half of the meal!
Even when the servers are stretched thin, the service is always exceptional (tip your severs well, people). As for the food, you can't go wrong with anything on their menu, but I want to highlight the eggs bennidict and the tuna melt as stand-outs. Very happy they survived the last two-three years and their quality of service and food never fell short.
Delicious breakfast. I had the Mexican egg scramble - perfectly spicy. Pro tip - use the dude if bread to make breakfast sandwiches. The hash browns were perfectly crispy on the outside. Leftover food was delicious. Only reason it didn't get 5 stars was because the coffee wasn't good.
Breakfast was perfection but I was more impressed with Peter, the lead in the kitchen. I will be going back mainly for Peter. My food was delivered to the table and it came with blueberry syrup, in a very quiet voice I whispered to my friend that I was going to ask for regular syrup and from across the kitchen Peter read my lips I guess and brought me a regular syrup without even asking.
The fact they maintain the shredded hashbrown style that so many breakfast places have been doing away with is a huge plus for me. They have a really cool old school diner there that's nice to sit at. Food was excellent, especially their breakfast crossiant sandwhich.
A little bit disappointed. Maybe I had high hopes for this place. This place has been on my want-to-visit list for a little bit over a year now. I always wanted to go there but had no time.
The ambience is very attractive and interesting. The building is over from a different era. Small narrow doors, older tile walls, high stairs. Everything about this place screams 1940s? Maybe. It's clean and well maintained and the chairs are very comfortable.
You have the option to sit on a table, or on a bar-like place where you can watch some food being prepared in front of you. We sat on a table.
The server was attentive. She came to us within moments. She introduced herself and was very polite. She was a little bit attentive maybe? She came back to us very shortly and made me feel a little pressured. But she was nice overall and I think she was just trying to be a good server.
We ordered their Avocado Toast. It wasn't very good. A little bit sweet and tastes almost like something else. We also ordered Plaza Chicken Sandwich with the plaza potatoes which is basically fried cubes of potatoes with some veggies. The fried chicken in the sandwich was indeed almost burnt. I didn't like the bread and the chicken tasted bland. The sandwich was open when severed and it wasn't juicy at all.
The bloody Mary is mediocre at best. The bacon in the Mary was overcooked and burnt and it came with cheese instead of a pickle. The Turkey Chili soup was actually good. I liked it even though I am not a big fan of turkey, really.
Sadly I don't think I'll ever come back to this place. Not for food, definitely. It was a nice experience overall but if you want delicious food, look somewhere else.
Classic diner fair. Counter and small tables in the kitchen area as well as a larger dining room. Beautiful outdoor patio in the summer. Better than average diner food. Gf options
This was such a pleasant experience! We found this place as the only one open for breakfast and within walking distance in this area.
Walking in feels like I stepped back a few decades. We were offered an outdoor table and to our surprise it was an oasis in a big city. Ivy grew on all the brick walls surround the patio space. I really felt like I was in a quaint quiet town instead of Milwaukee.
The coffee and lattes were divine and the food was even better. So many wonderful choices, it was hard to pick. Definitely wished I could have gone back the next day.
Absolutely loved the Big Country Brunch Burger for brunch! Seasoned patty? Delicious. Runny egg? Always a plus. CHORIZO gravy? Mind. Blown. The chorizo gravy is what makes this burger unique and worth getting. I've never had a chorizo style country gravy before until now. The bar has been set for anyone after this now.
The smoked salmon eggs Benedict was also delicious. I enjoyed the dill but it could be overpowering for some.
Both dishes were a hit.
Shout out to Yelp. The waiting list feature on the app saved us. It was the difference between immediate seating and a 30 minute wait.
Check your flatware and dishes as they may be dirty.
The Plaza offers delicious food and a great dining experience! They add a unique twist to the brunch classics we’ve come to expect. This time we enjoyed a classic breakfast scramble, avocado toast, and a daily special, their Cinnamon Toast Crunch French toast. Outstanding! Shout out to our waitress Kate who made the morning even better!
The Plaza is the best breakfast place in town! My husband and I have been here numerous times and always a great meal with exceptional service! Organic Blueberry Rooibos tea with Avocado Toast and Poached Eggs, I would highly recommend, stop in to see the amazing 1920's art decor decor.
Lovely ambiance, friendly service, and great food. Has an authentic old world feel. Highly recommend!!
Great food! Would highly recommend checking it out if you are from out of town like my mom and I!
The best omelet and best pancakes I have ever had. I loved this place so much I went there twice for breakfast. And the place is retro adorable. Ok, the omelet. Get the carmelized onions. They are uber caramelized. I also added cheese and peppers and asked it be done lightly. Soooo good! And the lemon pancakes with blueberry syrup are so light and fluffy. I am sure some crack was added as they are addictive. And the portions are huge. Yet everything is so reasonably priced. I always prefer quality over quantity but in this case you get both. The chef , Peter, is modest and says he just wants everyone to get their money's worth for a good meal. Well, it's unbelievably great meal at a great price. It's an 11.
Top pick for breakfast in the downtown area! Vintage lunch counter, outdoor courtyard, or traditional dining room seating options. Counter is our favorite, fun seeing the cooks and chefs in action. Their new chicken and waffles are is our go to.
veggie eggs Benedict was fantastic. Seating outdoor in the “Courtyard “ was nice for about 4 minutes until the bee’s showed up. i don’t recommend sitting outside in the afternoons during summer months
About 20 minute wait for Sunday brunch but was worth it. The tuna salad sandwich was out of this world!
Great staff, food and location. Has outdoor seating in an off street courtyard. Quiet and lovely setting.
Best eggs benedick I've had.
The kitchen must have been having a bad day, because our breakfast yesterday was disappointing. The English muffins in the Vegetarian Benedict and the 1007 Breakfast Sandwich were not toasted, even though the server insisted they were; the Sandwich did not have the listed avocado; the Benedict was all spinach; and our two fruit sides couldn't have been more different: both had melon and pineapple, but mine also had blueberries and raspberries, and my companion's did not. The courtyard was as charming as ever, but the food was definitely sub-par.
Great food at good prices. The two times I’ve eaten at the Plaza for brunch were delicious with great service. The Chicken and Waffle are hands down the best I’ve had to date, and the Waffle has bacon in the batter! Strongly Recommended.
10/10 - Would highly recommend going here for a great meal and great service. What we can only assume was the head chef really cares about his customers & the quality of his food!
My brother discovered this place and took me here for breakfast. I love fell in love right away! 1930 kind of style and super classy. Seriously believe me when i say that the hash browns were the best I ever had.
The Black man that was the hosts was the sweetest and very personable. Our waitress was nice and the food was good.
Overall love this place! The atmosphere was very good. All the staff was very respectful and nice. The food was amazing! My friend and I both had the French toast and we loved it. Had the hash browns and bacon and enjoyed it, it looked and tasted so fresh. Definitely will be coming back:) Thanks Nicole for the awesome recommendation🤗 …
One of my favorite spots for breakfast in Milwaukee. A great spot for a weekday breakfast treat. The lemon poppy seed pancakes are the stuff of dreams!!! And the chive hashbrowns.. oh man! Definitely a must-stop spot!
Great breakfast with big portions and nice flavors. The Eggs Benedict were the best ever!
If your looking to try something new, this is a nice little stop in Milwaukee. Food was pretty and good and it’s a neat hotel.
Great for breakfast. Seating outside is really nice in a backyard with brick walls. The portions are big and the food is really good.
Overall the dining experience is great the food is great but some servers are better than others some just don't pay attention to you until you actually have to call them and it still take him time to notice you so that's where the four stars comes in overall it's a pleasant experience I've been there a couple of times and I'm going to keep on coming back the first server overall was the greatest server but the last server she's not very attentive thank you
Great food great staff. Large portions and wonderful setting. Summers get even better if the courtyard is open. One of my favorite places. A few years ago I was crushed when the plaza potatoes left the building but the new modern menu is yummy.
Patio brunch and a gorgeous fall day.
Delicious food, drink and fabulous service
One of my favorite breakfast spots in Milwaukee. The courtyard is beautiful and the staff is always great. We had amazing service today at the drink station. The lady was wonderful. Thank you for staying safe throughout the last year.
I had the Tuna melt on a croissant, it was absolutely delicious. The tuna salad had capers, so good.
Yummy food and nice staff! Recommend the friend chicken sandwich. Very yummy!
Yummy dinner!
Great place for breakfast. They have a cozy patio, and I love that it opens at 7
First time visit, will definitely go back. Service and food was excellent! Very nice atmosphere. Our waitstaff was training another staff. Explained this to us, which I appreciated. Both introduced themselves and both did an excellent job!!
The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was excellent! Highly recommend
The brunch was great and so I would say a definite go to for it
This place is always the most lovely for brunch. It is probably my favorite place in the city. I'd like to tell you to not come here because it was a hidden jem, but word it out.
We never feel rushed. If you want a quick breakfast on the weekend, order take out ahead of time. Don't forget the hashbowns. They have a great pickup window so you don't even have to go inside. If you want to enjoy your time and your company, then add your name to the list.
The courtyard is so cozy, and the music is warming. Even in the midst of the pandemic and a complete rush, they are always super accommodating in trying to get folks seated, making sure we have drinks while we wait, and getting to us as soon as they can. It's an amazing place. Plan to wait to get seated. Get a drink, sit outside, and enjoy yourself. Plan to wait for service. Continue to sip on your cocktail while waiting to order.
They're accommodating large amounts of people, safely, in a small space during a pandemic and doing an amazing job at it. I have definitely learned to appreciate the fact that I can have brunch on a courtyard outside in Milwaukee.
We enjoy our time there and always plan the time so we can catch up with friends in a relaxing environment with great food, fantastic ingredients, and amazing cocktails (oh those passion fruit mimosas were grand on Sunday). And, the staff are working their tails off to accommodate us all. So grateful! Thanks, Sophia! 💕
Great food, has a diner meets hotel experience I love. Good came quick and service was very professional and knowledgeable.
We love coming here. If you are ordering breakfast and aren't staying at the hotel for a nap afterward...I recommend a lot of coffee! The portions are extremely generous. We went on a busy Saturday afternoon and were seated much quicker (2 of us) than the given estimate. If you want great food, and a nice atmosphere to coincide I don't think anywhere in Milwaukee is better.
Large portions, good food, neat place. We went early (7 AM) on a Saturday and it was very easy to get a table of our choosing.
I absolutely love having breakfast here - it is a must do! I have never had a bad experience. Everyone on the staff is so friendly.
The tables are comfortable for any size group. The dining room is cozy and bright, or you can sit by the counter and watch them prepare the food. In the summer they have outdoor seating in a beautiful courtyard.
The food is really good as well. Definitely try the poppyseed pancakes. The blueberry sauce they serve it with is amazing. I love the breakfast burrito, Plaza Pleaser, and the avocado toast. The coffee is spectacular as well.
Great food and good vibes. I had the lemon poppyseed pancakes w/ bacon and all of it tasted amazing
A Milwaukee staple, you can't go wrong with breakfast here. A massive range of options, all cooked right in front of you (if you sit in the right place ;-)) I had the traditional eggs, bacon, sausage and hash browns and the missus had a fried chicken sandwich that was incredible. If you're looking for breakfast or haven't come here before, do yourself a favor and drop in for a treat. Staff were great too.
As a self admitted local foodie I was shocked that I had never heard of this gem. Locally sourced ingredients. Crispy fresh greens. Everything made to order right in front of you (if you sit in the 1930’s styled diner section) by a cool collected kitchen. The breakfast sandwich (gluten free bread option!!) with herbed goat cheese and just the right amount of greens for balance over cheesy eggs. Such a treat. If you adore a diverse yet timeless atmosphere, great service and some of the best breakfast food options in the city with a laid back vintage feel... consider this your go-to for a downtown breakfast. Love it!
This place is great! We ate in the courtyard which is cozy and lush. Starting the morning with their bloody Mary was a great idea, since it was one of the best I have ever had. The eggs Benedict were cooked perfectly. Thanks to another review we ordered a side of the corned beef and hash which was the best, but expect it to be greasy in a good way. We will be back!
The patio is nice the rest is average and moderately expensive. 2.50 for a quarter of an over ripe a avacado.
Amazing breakfast, omelet so large, I took half home. Bacon and coffee, perfect.
We had our wedding guests stay here and in addition to wanting to check it out ourselves, we had a City Tin to use. I loved the historical look and although the menu was smaller, it was a good selection. I had the lemon poppyseed pancakes which were delicious! Never seen that before. My husband had the scrambler which he enjoyed and both meals were substantial portions. The only reason I'm saying 4 stars is the service was slow. Would highly recommend!
If you come to Milwaukee come here for breakfast....... You will love it!
Great breakfast. Loved yhe outdoor French Grden atmosphere!
A lovely cafe in a very old and charming hotel. Istanpitta Early Music ensemble had breakfast there this past week for several days in a row. The French toast was excellent as well as the coffee. I would say the hash browns were a little disappointing and the attempt at pumpkin pancakes I guess is just a little on the difficult side as it was a bit dry. Omelette and Breakfast (huge) burrito was heavenly. But beyond the food we kept coming back for our server who's name was "J". J's friendliness and smile and attentive service was beyond anything the human language can describe. My whole music ensemble adored J.
A must for Milwaukee brunch (right near the streetcar route too if you want to make a day of it!) or a quick work lunch (the falafel is SO good)- it's the rare spot where the food and ambiance combine to make something even greater than it's parts. If you can get seated at the diner counter, you'll get to enjoy watching the food be pumped out in epic fashion, and I've also heard there's an incredible courtyard dining option I've never been lucky enough to get seated in. A great excuse to keep coming back!
I loved the look and ambience of this place, the 1920’s style made the experience inviting. Not the greatest service, we waited a while once we were done eating for the bill. And the BYO mimosa with the small amount of Prosecco you get was not worth $10/ea. My husband got french toast and eggs which were good. I got the salmon benedict which was really salty and the egg was over poached. If I came back I’d have to try a different dish and avoid the mimosa bar.
Delicious, fantastic, perfect Eggs Benedict, nicely spiced sausage, and the coffee was pretty great too. Prices are reasonable, decor is nicely art deco, wait wasn't too long for a Sunday brunch without a reservation. Absolutely worth a stop.
Excellent food. Polite staff and the outdoor courtyard is great for a Summer meal
I went here for brunch and it was marvelous! The service was quick and our server Kayla was lovely. We loved the coffee cake and poutine. With only one visit, Café is already in my list of favorite brunch spots in Milwaukee. I also want to add how friendly the staff at the Plaza is!
We went with a friend that lives in Milwaukee and we were totally surprised. It’s a hotel restaurant that has delicious food and excellent service. We got the poutine which was very tasty and a very Wisconsin experience (melted cheese curds in the poutine). Their portions are HUGE and the prices are very reasonable, so make sure you come hungry! Their water was out of commission during our dining experience and the waitstaff went out of their way to make sure we got bottled water (for free). Overall great experience!
First time there so hopefully my next visit is really exceptional. Food is fantastic, staff was friendly. Wait time was minimal
Chef Danny is amazing! You can sit and watch while he cooks everyone's food. It's entertaining and delicious. Prices are exactly what they should be. The feel of the entire place is perfect for anyone. They also have outdoor seating on the patio which is beautiful and relaxing. I recommend this cafe to everyone that appreciates good food.
Brunch at the Cafe at the plaza was a bit of a let down. I ordered avocado toast and the poached egg on top tasted like it had been poached entirely in vinegar. Additionally the egg was over cooked so you didn’t get that rich runny yolk like one would expect out of a poached egg. The saving grace of this brunch for me was the Bloody Mary. The mix was delicious and had a good balance of savory and spicy. The accompaniments of cheese and a piece of candied bacon that came with the bloody also took it a step up. Overall this was just an ok experience but all of the negatives could just be an off day for them.
Got there around 8:45. The staff was super friendly and food was great. The poutine and biscuits and gravy were some of the best I’ve had and I’m not even a poutine or biscuits and gravy kind of guy. Would definitely go back. Parking is a bit of a pain but that isn’t their problem.
Chef is great! Friendly staff. Food is very good. Beautiful dining room.
Met friends for breakfast. Ordered the Plaza Scramble with rye toast and fruit. Cooked perfect with a nice blend of flavors. Fruit was ripe and delicious.
AWESOME decor except the swastika floor tiles left over from worse days... Creative menu, clean and cool. Manager showed me around as I was killing time, the back patio is like New Orleans style with the Ivy and lights. Bacon was not that crunchy, cold brew coffee was on point but no espresso. Open kitchen so you can see the chefs
Great and hearty 1007 Breakfast Burger. . . I added Smoked Salmon. Collectivo coffee has never truly failed me, and that freshly squeezed oj is absolutely delicious! Customer service was okay, I did not explore the building because the smell was a bit much for me. The garden patio...is absolutely recommended by me, you'll likely experience a plethora of wildlife while you dine!
While I enjoy the Cafe for regular weekend breakfast, this is primarily aimed at my event. The Plaza held our rehearsal dinner in their courtyard. The courtyard was beautifully set up and the food was wonderful! Great private spot for a private party.
Really good food, the classic breakfast and soup at least. Service was very good. Food came in a timely matter and the waitress wasn't constantly checking up on us, which is a plus in my book. We sat in the cafe section of the restaurant. Very nice experience; will definitely return.
One of my favorite places to eat. This place is a classic example of American dining from a bygone era. Breakfast is highly recommended. Service is excellent, the tables are appropriately set. Charming and warm environment. The baked oatmeal was to die for. If you like eggs, they are poached perfectly. Smoked salmon bagel is great, their Mexican Scrambler is on point. Coffee is black and excellent. The brioche French toast is quite good. The dishes are thoughtful. The only place I trust to get a good Benedict. The decor is classic 1920s-1940s. I grew up during a time when there were a lot of restaurants like this. But no more. These places are a dying breed, and we are lucky the Plaza is still around. In an era of McEinsteinBagels and other "fast casual" soulless corporate restaurants, the Plaza stands as a fine example of a time when people took their time, read the paper, looked each other in the eye, acknowledged one another and spent a portion of their morning enjoying their meal and having a meaningful experience. This place has an element of quality that you simply don't find elsewhere. Bonus: during summer you can sit outside in their beautiful courtyard. Life does not get much better.
Wonderful place. Quaint courtyard. Very nice staff. Hood menu and fair prices. A+
I don't know why it took me so ungodly long to finally get to this spot and it did not disappoint. Sitting at the counter, I feel like I'm in a time capsule that had been lovingly preserved without being allowed to go stagnant. The chef runs a tight ship and it shows. The food is remarkable and the things I didn't get to have but watched go out looked amazing. Can't wait to come back.
Lovely cafe with a NYC feel. In summer they have unquie outdoor seating surrounding yourself with brick and vines. All year round you can jump on one of the counter seats to enjoy the art decor and chatter while dining on great food. Breakfast is a must.
A true Milwaukee gem and one of a kind experience. The setting is beautiful, the food is great, the staff is friendly and the prices are reasonable. I eat here for brunch as often as I can.
THE best scramble I’ve ever had...hash browns were great. Will definitely come again
One of the best spots in Milwaukee. Charming vintage diner with great food, great coffee, and great sevice.
The Plaza has some great breakfast and lunch! The French toast is pretty tasty. The club sandwich is also superb and expertly crafted. Each piece of lettuce and bacon was expertly placed. Would definitely go back!
The corned beef hash was amazing! They make it completely from scratch. It's also a huge serving! The avocado toast is their biggest seller and looked super good too
Excellent Art Deco cafe. Highly recommended! I ordered coffee, the breakfast poutine and the lemon poppyseed pancakes.
The poutine was hearty! Thick cut French fries, excellent chorizo, and a generous portion. The lemon poppyseed pancakes and blueberry syrup—which are offered in a short stack (2 pancakes) or a full order (3 pancakes) were fluffy and delicious. The delicate taste of the pancakes complements the blueberry syrup. You have an option to upgrade your syrup to pure maple syrup as well, though I can’t speak to that.
Our service was attentive—multiple coffee refills and “warm ups” for us. When I took most of my pancakes to go (because that poutine is filing!), I enjoyed that they gave me a fresh little container of syrup to take home.
Food was awesome and great service.
A very nice breakfast near the lakefront in Milwaukee. The service was excellent and the food tasty as well. Highly recommended.
This is a cool little diner! Vintage atmosphere and an amazing breakfast however, I had to pull a star because we couldn't find the waitress when we were ready to leave for our meeting.
Absolutely delicious breakfast. We sat outside in the patio and the whole experience was lovely.
Fresh delicious food at reasonable prices. The service was wonderful.
Daughter and my favorite breakfast spot! Art Deco ambience, great food, beverages, and service.
Really neat place for a 1920's throwback breakfast on Sunday. Great food and service.
Wife had the lemon poppy seed pancakes and loved them. I had the breakfast poutine and cafe potatoes on the side. The potatoes were some of the best I've ever had! But the poutine fell so flat I felt bad for whoever cooked it. The "gravy" was extremely heavy on the chipotle flavor. With the taste and consistency of Mexican chili. The avocado cream that i anticipated turned out to just be a sliced avocaod on top.The poached eggs were both overcooked and barely ran at all. And to top off this mess were what I can only imagine were fried cheese curds! Not deep fried just melted in a pan. Disappointing, I expect fresh whole cheeded curds on any poutine. Wish I had gotten the fritters instead.
One of the best cafes in Milwaukee. It really resembles the set of a Wes Anderson movie. The garden courtyard is just wonderful.
Great veggie Benedict, friendly staff, spaced out seating. Very nice experience.
Very delicious food and generous servings! The lemon poppyseed pancakes were scrumptious 😋
Awesome spot with a cool outdoor seating area. You can go here in gym shorts and a tshirt or dress nice to have yourself a bougey brunch. Prices are fair and food quality is excellent.
went on a Monday around 11-12 ( lunch / breakfast ) .Good intimate environment .. server was good , menu had a decent selection. good idea for a party of 4 or less looking to just have a decent meal , over some good conversation.
Good food. Friendly staff. Very cool yesteryear decor and vibe.
Really great breakfast/brunch. I love the diner feel. It has a bright sunny dining room with lovely details. Great for a Saturday or Sunday morning.
Limited menu, but what they have is nice. The 1920s ambiance is well worth the minimal menu. The garden seating area is rather lovely.
Highly recommend the Lemon Poppy seed pancakes with Blueberry Ginger syrup! Great stop when you're on a girls day getaway! Cafe at The Plaza is ALWAYS our 1st stop! ❤️
Lovely old school lunch counter and beautiful patio.
My food was all over cooked. The wait staff seemed rushed and annoyed. The somewhat cheap prices don't make up for the paper table covers, cinder block walls, and mediocre food.
Very good service. We came with a group of ten including a couple of kids and it was great. Food was solid.
Wonderful brunch/lunch food. Great variety and good portion sizes. Sat outside in their lovely garden. Perfect!
Please please please bring back your lemon poppyseed pancakes...why you would ever take them off your menu is beyond me! I came here today for them specifically and they were replaced by pumpkin. very disappointed :(. Other than that I do always enjoy the Plaza.
Great place for breakfast or brunch in the city. Get there early though. It is fairly small with not that many tables for larger groups. Definitely get the chive hash browns.
Goat cheese & roasted tomatoes on an egg sandwich? Yes, please!
The breakfast burrito is massive! I had it with chorizo and can't wait to get it again! The mimosas are great! The poutine is really loaded!
Great food and waitstaff!
Great breakfast and Peter, head chef, knows the value of good food and service.
Really good food (lemon poppyseed pancakes are amazing) and they have eco friendly practices.
I loved the place, it’s beautiful it remind me of New York. I went during brunch and I had pancakes and they were delicious!! Will definitely recommend to others!!
Wonderful brunch in their garden patio. You feel as if you are in another city, very charming. Nice brunch selection, wonderful service.
Always amazing food, and a great atmosphere. Service can take a bit if they are packed, but if you have the time it is worth the wait!
Went for Sunday brunch. Nice ambiance on back patio past classic hotel diner room. Service was good. Food was okay.
The food is amazing. They have great cooks.
Great brunch!!!! Tried the Plaza Eggs Benedict, the banana bread and everything's was delicious. Price are affordable and the service is excellent.

Sweet breakfast options even without meat and dairy! Really enjoyed the avocado toast. Really friendly staff and yummy coffee!
Very tasty food. Especially the avocado toast or biscuits and gravy. If you can eat outside, do so. The courtyard is beautiful.

Wonderful art deco hotel, great for breskfast. Lovely outdoor patio reminiscent of what you might find in New Orleans.
Amazing food! Service was a bit slow at times. Would highly recommend the parfait.
