We are speechless huge shout-out to the amazing chefs this evening! Bacchus had a wonderful dining room with plenty of space and a quiet atmosphere. My only wish is that they have more updated gender-neutral or family restrooms to expand upon the people they may serve. The food which I rated out of 10 below was under-salted but it pushed the envelope of fine contemporary cuisine of today. This menu has to be one of the best they’ve ever had! The flow of the service is exemplary and the wait staff is always diverse and professional! I forgot to add the bill because I didn’t want to see it! THANKS!

This is a dining experience. Similar to some michelin star restaurants we have been to in Chicago, there are different courses with optional wine pairings. The cocktails were excellent as well.

Tasting menu is to die for! Absolutely stunning visually and oh so tasty! The bartenders Bobby and Victoria are wonderful and great at suggesting wine choices. Not overpriced at all! You get what you pay for. 5 out of 5!

Really nice place! They have parking on the street or a valet area. Once inside you’ll be impressed by how high end the environment is, and the food, drink selection service is a match for how high end this place feels but with a reasonably priced range.

Absolutely lovely restaurant with great, unique dishes. Very vegetarian friendly and good about other dietary restrictions as well. I really enjoy how well the chef has designed different root vegetables in widely varied dishes. The homemade ice cream is amazing too!

Came here for my 6 year dating anniversary with my boyfriend. The service and food were both excellent and we felt it was the perfect amount of food and did not leave us feeling bloated or sick as we both have sensitive stomachs. The waitstaff were very helpful with their recommendations and did everything to make us comfortable. Highly recommend

You can always judge a place by there scallop dishes. Excellent presentation and multi layered taste on each bite. Would recommend this place to anyone, perfect proportions for a three course meal! & an Excellent Whiskey Selection!

It was a good run. Pre covid this was IMO the best restaurant in MKE. Went on Valentine’s Day this year and had a let down of an experience. I chalked it up to it being Valentine’s Day. Just went back and everything I was displeased with on Valentine’s Day was right back in my face. Service is fine but definitely not to the standards of pre covid. I don’t like that it is permanently a pre fixed menu. You have a choice of 6 entrees and of course they where out of the one I ordered, but they where not able to communicate that to the staff effectively so I had to have them come back and inform me I would need to chose a different entree. Scallop dish as a whole was delicious, but not a great sear, one of the 2 scallops was borderline white. Duck breast ( 2nd choice entree ) was decent a little salty & the rice cake meh. I wasn’t a fan of the dessert or the dessert choices TBH. This was probably my last time here no real value & disappointing experience 2 times in a row. If they ever go back to the old business model I’d probably try it again. But as long as it’s pre fixed I’m over it.

My husband and I had our intimate wedding of 15 people and Bacchus and couldn't be more impressed or appreciative of the staff we worked with. Alyson was a dream when planning and incredibly flexible when we had to reschedule a week before the wedding to a different date. Patrick and Sarah D. were incredible to work with as waitstaff and treated our entire party like royalty... our guests couldn't get enough of them and how well they worked with our party. From ensuring our niece and nephew had apple juice for toasts to plating allergen-free cupcakes for my nephew, to kindly helping with each and every request, they were the best. Finally, the food was phenomenal. From ensuring that we had and entirely peanut-free menu as well as gluten-free options, the Bacchus staff worked with us and had great, unique options to treat our guests to for our special day. We wanted to give our closest people the opportunity to explore new foods and ensure it was incredible... goal accomplished! Sincerely, thank you for all you did for us and for helping make it one of the most special days in our lives. We can't say enough positive things and will be back to visit again!

One of the best meals i have had in my life. Its an explosion of delicios flavors... If I could give 10 stars to this establishment.. I would, without second thoughts! One of my best experiences in restaurants ever! We went here for our anniversary dinner and did the Chefs tasting menu and everything was spectacular. Bacchus clearly lives up to its reputation. We had made reservations earlier and got seated right away as we arrived. Our host gave us excellent recommendations for wine based on our taste and we absolutely loved it. Our host was accompanied by multiple servers that evening as they got our courses out one after another giving perfect amount of time in between. I requested a substitute for veal and they got me seafood without any issue. The flavors were beautifully blended with each course and everything was unique and delicious. We loved all the different courses we tried with the perfect recommendation of wine. Our hosts occasionally checked on us which was great! I am so glad we did the tasting menu and had a chance to try out the different specialties of the chef! I look forward to coming back again as well as sitting outdoors over the summer.

Absolutely fabulous evening out. The vegetarian dinner was delicious and we appreciated the extra steps for a food allergy - including labeling the plates for safety. The staff was very helpful in choosing the dishes, keeping allergies in mind. Covid safety - all staff were wearing masks and guests are asked to wear masks until seated and drinking/eating.

This was a special wine pairing event. Chef Wirth out cooked himself. The pictures are in order of appearance on the menu. I don't have the vocabulary to express just how delicious the food tasted as well as how tender the meat. The wine was good, but not outstanding for the price.

Hadnt been here in a long time but i wont make that mistake again. An absolutely wonderful meal of exquisite tastes and impeccable service. The tuna tartare was amazing as was the grilled octupus with peanut sauce and, the asparagus and prosciutto salad. The ivory char was perfect. Desserts were a heaven of dark chocolate mousse and sorbets.

Excellent service from Lydia, Theresa and Patrick. Dinners were prepared to perfection. Presentation of the pumpkin soup was great. Lydia suggested The Rush Creek cheese wheel and surpassed our expectations so much we had to purchase another one to take home. Bravo to all.

The food was phenomenal. Every bite had fantastic, thoughtful layers of flavor. The reason this restaurant will be so memorable for me is because the customer service I received was hands down the best experience I’ve ever had as a patron. The staff at this establishment are phenomenal, not only at their understanding of the dishes and flavor notes and pairings, but at proving a warm and welcoming environment. Had dinner and drinks here before a professional conference. The service was very good. The waiters knew the menu well, and were very responsive to customers. The cuisine was also very good. A little bit pricey, but the menu was interesting with the course options. I'd say 4.5 - 5 stars. Would definitely recommend.

Very nice place, was surprised at the location, but is very nice. Somewhat on the expensive side, but the food is/was amazing. For this family of five this is only for special occasions. Will be back as once again the food was amazing!

Seriously delicious. I can't wait to come here again someday... Cheese, steaks, fish, vegetarian options, huge wine list, great service... Ample seating, clean, romantic, not cozy like Sanford, but that's okay. The seating was very comfortable, and you are well taken care of.

Overall good experience. We did the New Years 5 course meal. The food was great and we enjoyed the simple contemporary atmosphere with two good friends. The portions were modest, and our appetites were fulfilled. The old fashion was rich. Wait staff was very polite and made us feel welcome. I would say though that if you are going to spend $300 on a meal for two, you may as well just go to Sanford. Nothing else compares to the quality of service and attention to detail.

First time here, visiting from San Francisco and came for my birthday. Food was good, service was meh. The staff treated us differently then other tables- for example they wrapped up the leftovers at one table but made us do our own leftovers. Strange and noticeable since there was only 3 other tables... Not my favorite bartolotta restaurant.

Food and staff were phenomenal! Samantha, our server was very knowledgeable about everything we were eating. We had the 7 course tasting with wine pairings, which were expertly combined. All of the delicacies were seared or prepared to perfection. My only criticism is the ambient noise. It gets very loud when its busy. That aside it was a wonderful dinner that must be repeated in the future.

A lovely place to celebrate a date night or special occasion. We both had the five course chef’s tasting menu. You can opt to get it with wine pairings too. We were pleasantly surprised by the menu. There wasn’t anything that we didn’t like. The service is always impeccable and their wine selections are out of this world. We’ve dined here before a few times and it’s consistently excellent. My favorite is the veal ravioli. Put on your nice clothes and treat yourself to some of the finest in Milwaukee.

Visited here May 2013. If you are looking for an upscale, classy experience this is the place. We waited at the bar for our table which was great because it allowed us to try out their drink selection. The bar tender was very knowledgeable and was able to give me exactly what I wanted. The servers were exceptional and knew their job very well. For the price the food was what you would expect. I had the scallops for an appetizer and the lobster for the main course. They were both prepared perfectly. This is fine dining at its best in Wisconsin. I will be back again, great place.

Food was good but I feel that for the cost ($270 for 2 people including tip) it should have been special or excellent. Also the wine pairing was expensive. Ended up being $35 for if I am generous 1.5 glasses of wine.

Our Friday evening dinner at Bacchus will be fondly remembered as one of the best meals we've enjoyed. The dining room is lovely, and the hostess chose a perfect corner table for our cozy meal. Michael and Nick were attentive servers and treated us well.We chose the Chateaubriand for two, which was served with potatoes, mushrooms and brussels sprouts, and it was divinely delicious. The restaurant had hosted an Opus One wine event the night before, and we were thrilled to help drink the rest! The Almond Joy dessert was a high-end interpretation of my favorite candy bar.Some reviews are mentioning positive or negative experiences ordering the 5- or 7-course tasting menus. We asked for a sneak peek of the courses offered that night, and this foreknowledge helped us decide on the meal we would most enjoy.

We held our wedding ceremony and dinner at Bacchus. I am also a long time fan of Bacchus as well. The food is always thoughtfully done, beautifully executed and totally delicious. The service team perfectly walks the line of being attentive, while at the same time not being intrusive. For our wedding, the staff who helped us plan our event was lovely to work with, responsive, and very skilled at their jobs. I felt comfortable that they had both the ceremony on the Library Patio and the dinner itself in the Conservatory well planned. Having our event at Bacchus took so much stress out of the day for me and the food was incredible!

This was a great experience with amazing food, service, and classy atmosphere. While the Covid precautions can be a little bit of a romance killer with having to constantly put your mask back on anytime a server approaches your table, it shows a true effort in trying to be safe. So, if that doesn't bother you, and you're looking for truly great food and service, I highly recommend Bacchus.

My husband and I had a fantastic dinner last week at Bacchus. It is the perfect downtown restaurant for a special occasion. The service was great, the setting was intimate, and our meals were outstanding. Because the menu is seasonal, you can go year-round and enjoy new entrees (and new cocktails 😉). Beautiful restaurant near the lake. American cuisine. Very attentive staff. Wonderful menu made up of the best ingredients from his other restaurants. Seafood and wonderful meats. Cocktails are spectacularly well done. Desserts are very good. All in all i was very impressed with this restaurant. Not too expensive for fine dining restaurant, but with one drink each and 3 courses should run with tax and tip about $225 for 2. Parking available.

Celebrated my best friend's birthday at Bacchus, and was immediately taken in by the the feel of the place and grand dining room was brightly lit with an abundance of mirrors which added elegance. Although my friend and I were not dressed formally, we were treated very well by all the staff! Much appreciated, and answered questions on our courses, in a prompt and courteous manner. The prices, however, were a bit on the high side! Not someplace you can go often on a budget! For the two of us it came to around $230.plus dollars! The food is phenomenal though! The dessert received as a gift from staff, paired well with the high end Scotch! Gonna save up and go maybe twice a year!

There's so many places to eat Downtown, many of them great. Bacchus is above and beyond the great expectations. We went last summer it it was still fairly busy, but we were able to get a table with a reservation. We had a really cool view. Our server was great. The chefs signature tasting menu was amazing. Don't skip out on this restaurant. We will definitely be going back when we are back in town.

I took my boyfriend to Bacchus for his birthday and we had an outstanding experience. The service was fast and professional but not stuffy at all. All the staff was friendly, happy and extremely knowledgeable about the menu and incredible wine list. I actually had the pleasure of getting married at Bacchus in 2017. The experience was the best I could have ever dreamed of. The event coordinator I worked with, Tricia, was wonderful. We came to the restaurant for a meeting about wedding stuff and we wanted to get some dinner afterwards, and Tricia let the restaurant know ahead of time we were coming and we were greeted with champagne and got free dessert and had a fantastic dinner. We had a very small wedding, so we booked the library and the courtyard for the ceremony, but no one had booked the conservatory for the day of our wedding so they upgraded us for free, and it was gorgeous, especially because it rained (after the ceremony and pictures thank goodness) so the rain through all the glass was so romantic. The waitstaff and bartenders kept the drinks full, the food was incredible, people still say our wedding had the best food of any wedding they have ever been to. I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience with this restaurant and I would 100% do it all over again. I am sad I no longer live in Wisconsin because I would definitely come back every anniversary.

Usually Bartolatta restaurants are wonderful . This time being a Graduation weekend , many things were below standards . . We we arrived, the hostess said we have a romantic table for you, enjoy the view. The view was not of the lake but of the corner of the art museum. Our romantic table was a small table for two pushed in front of the door leading to the closed patio. I was freezing. The food is wonderful but Bacchus does not do any thing for vegetarians. That was a disappointment. All in all though , the food was good . The interior could use some help though.

I took some friends to Bacchus for dinner. Everyone ate something different from menu. All were delighted. I had the venison which I love. It was the best I've ever had, including the venison I have often enjoyed in Switzerland where it is a specialty. I can not wait to come back and have it again. I could not eat all of my portion and took the rest home for lunch the next day. I warmed it up and it was absolutely delicious! Thank you for being such consummate chefs!

We had an exceptional meal here! They were very accommodating and allowed us to drink a bottle of sparkling riesling wine I had brought back from a trip to Germany. Shared a glass of it with our waiter. If you want one of the four best meals you'll find in Milwaukee, come here to get it.

A really nice place to celebrate a special occasion. There were some goods and bads about it but overall we were very happy with our experience because the service made up for any shortcomings we had with the food. We started with the carrot gnocchi which was very mushy (albeit very tasty). I had the salad with jamon iberico, which turned out to be a wedge salad which I wouldn't have ordered had I known. Not a fan of wedge salads so I was disappointed. Husband had the potato soup which was wonderful. Main course was filet mignon for me, which was absolutely wonderful. Perfectly seasoned and cooked, nice presentation, and just delicious. Husband had the wagyu flat iron steak which was incredible. It had very Asian flavors and was again presented nicely. For dessert the horchata creme brulee which was on point. Nicely balanced, really nice light texture and a perfect end to the meal. But the service - it was the best part of the meal. I was a little leery at first because the hosts were not particularly welcoming but once we were seated, every aspect of the service was wonderful. They were attentive without being overbearing, sincerely nice, and really made the experience delightful.

I generally consider Ardent the best restaurant in Milwaukee...That said, my wife and I dined here last night. We have eaten at several Bartolotta restaurants in the past and had average food experiences—not at Bacchus! We both tried the tasting menu and it was an absolute treat. The flavors were unique and left both of us wanting more. Service was top flight and the entire experience was worth every penny. Bacchus is clearly the top restaurant within the Bartolotta group and is also in the same conversation as Ardent. Well done!

Absolutely Amazing! My fiancee and I went there on Labor Day Sunday, and had a fantastic time. The food is simply amazing, the winelist is out of this world, and the service is second to none! Our server was thoughful, attentive and made the experience really enjoyable. Great atmosphere too. Definitely worth a visit.

Bring your wallet and plenty of time. Small menu with great effort placed on presentation and attentive service. If you have an experience like we did once, I arrived and other than ordering a drink the wait staff made choices for a party of 9 dinners and I can't believe the assortment, variety and - he had listened enough to our conversation about the food, his choices were well matched to our desires. Have no idea how he pulled that off. Like all high end restaurants, things are mostly a la carte. Wines to meet every taste, even very, very expensive ones. Have had two great experiences there.

We toured on a Sunday and wanted the noon tour since we were heading onto Green Bay that day and didn't want to be delayed. A good tip is to check if the gift shop has opened early to sell tickets.We are so glad we toured the mansion while in Milwaukee. It's well worth the time and the tour price is reasonable. We got there slightly before noon to find out others had bought tickets already. We snagged the last four tickets so it worked out.

The overall ambiance is there (although we probably had the worst table in the place, this weird makeshift table in-front of a door, didnt seem like a place for a table) the food was just not that good for that price point. The foie gras was not warmed all the way through and was served in a weird preparation (almost breakfast style). The filet was tender but over cooked for mid-rare, the sides were overly salty. My wife's vegetarian meal was much more unique with better flavor. The salmon was very dry, the filet mignon was over cooked and the flourless chocolate cake with mint ice cream was disgusting. The atmosphere was nice and the bar tender was great. One female server had a bad attitude.

First time here and we had the lobster risotto, octopus, lamb and vegetable stir fry. Everything was delicious. This place is known for its wine selection. We enjoyed a couple of drinks. The deserts were delicious! I had the bannafort which is pictured. It's kind of sad and dreary in there but it was also the winter time so maybe that attributed to it.

Had the three course offering, choosing the pork ragu to start, followed by the lamb chops and finishing with the German chocolate mousse, all accompanied by a nice bottle of Hess Collection, “The Lion” Mount Veeder, Napa Valley 2013. Nice visit with Paul Bartlotta after dinner. Highly recommend.

Had steak tartare—absolutely no flavor had a paste like consistency. Ordered Foie Gras, which should be smooth, buttery and delightful. This was rubbery! It was actually difficult to slice through, probably why they gave us a serrated knife. Almost like we were going to eat a steak. They served it with a cinnamon bread fluff which didn’t compliment the rubbery texture at all. Have no idea what they were doing. The only saving grace was the special dish the “chef” created for the special white truffles. Argentinian shrimp on a bed of perfect white truffle leek risotto. We opted for the extra white truffle shavings on top and it was perfection. Dessert didn’t match what we were expecting. Brandy Alexander was a hard soaked cake and it was really hard. Not soft and spongy. Hard to eat. The panna cotta was served with ice cream. Confusing meal to say the least. We should’ve just ordered two Argentinian shrimp specials. Excellent service and cocktails wrapped up our evening but wouldn’t return for the inconsistent food.

This place is amazing. THe food is great, the service and awesome, and the prices are what you would expect to pay for such a restaurant. We went for our 1 year anniversary and had a fabulous time. The waiter was very nice and not snobbish at all. My only complaint was we were seated closer to the computer where the servers ring stuff in and we could hear two of the male servers talking about how hot a girl was at a table by us. Being in the service industry myself I didnt care because I know how it goes as a server but I could see other people who might really take offense to this. But other than that everything was amazing.

One word sums this place up. ‘Eh’. Food average at best, service at the table was ‘ok’. Service at the bar was excellent. Had to send back one dish as it was not palatable. Dusty booth where we were sitting. Maybe caught on a bad night. Not sure I would experiment with $200 again.

Due to a diet, I haven't dined out big time in a long while. A mini vacation to Milwaukee and some dining research brought me to Bacchus. It is a beautiful spot in Milwaukee near the lake. The winelist has some gems on it. Their big reds may be a little young, yet. They have a wide variety of varietals, however. I never thought of seeing DRC on a restaurant winelist in Wisconsin. I'm a former vinophile and my date is not a heavy drinker, but they have NV Krug by the glass and it was reasonably priced. They graciously poured a serving in two glasses for us. My date is a very picky eater, but saw foie gras on the menu and wanted to try it. I obliged even though fois gras is too rich for my palate. It was served breakfast style with Brioche French toast, bacon, maple syrup and a quail egg. Everything was properly cooked and well executed, but it just needed some acidity to balance the richness of the dish. The Krug paired pretty well with the dish, though. I ordered a beet and melon salad. The beets were very fresh and the dish was plated artfully. I nearly drank the melon juice that was left. For the mains my date ordered the chicken and I had the Waygu. The sweet potato hash on my plate was very tasty. The meat was cooked perfectly and seasoned very as well. Very nice and balanced dish. My date's chicken was incredible. Bacchus' Madeira sauce was extremely rich and complex. I was floored by it. The chicken was cooked perfectly as well, major kudos. The service was attentive throughout the meal was when it was time to pay, it took a little long. I headed for the restroom and our server was talking to the bartender while we waited a good while for the check.

Bacchus was amazing! The staff were true professionals and not pushy at all. We absolutely loved the food and presentation -- a true upscale experience. I had the loup-de-mare and crispy shrimp; every bite was perfection. I've dined in a lot of nice places and love cooking -- Bacchus is the best in Milwaukee. Price, I'd say that it was an excellent value for the level of service. I've paid a lot more for a lot less at other "upscale" establishments. If Anthony Bourdain is eating there, I think it's good enough reason to check it out.

This restaurant is wonderful! I took my wife here for date night. Very nice and accommodating staff. Nice selection of wines to go with the meals. Food was wonderful. We had the chateaubriand. I would definitely recommend it.

Wife and I decided to dine out at Bacchus before a trip to Jamaica. Reservations were easy. Valet parking is very much appreciated. Seated immediately and greeted immediately by our waiter ‘Nick’. Congenial college kid formerly from West Virginia. We had so many gift cards from our kids, I thought Bacchus would have to re-pay us. Wine selection is extraordinary. Settled on a Reisling. Quite good. Appetizer suggestion brought us Pati de faux gra (ignore the spelling) but do not pass it up. Super great. Spinach salad was superior. The nightly special was tremendous. Rib eye steak for two. Too much, called for a ‘doggie bag’. Coffee flavored Creme Brûlle set us off to cap a great night. Not sure if the service beat the dinner or vice versa. But this is our top choice for ‘special dinners’. Car valet ran the 40 yards in 4,4 or so.

We did the 5-course texting menu tonight with the wine pairing. The food was delicious (the veal, for example), but the wine pairing had much to be desired. Ok wines but worse, every wine was served in a white wine glass. That was odd to s couple of California transplants. Malbec, Amarone or Pinot... they' were ah destined to the same white wine glass. I know... we're snobs.
