Reviews of Selena's at Willow Lake Tavern
Alyce Fetterhoff
Reservations are highly suggested. I didn’t have them but was able to sit in the bar area. It’s crazy busy in there but my food was delicious and came out super hot. I personally don’t think they are too pricey. We got a lot of food! It’s definitely not ihop.
Jeremy Peppler
Found this place years ago on a work trip. It's delicious. Today was no exception. Thought I ordered blackened chicken Alfredo. Turned out it was blackened shrimp. It was great! Cozy environment like eating on your patio at home. Nice fish pond. Recommend!
Janis Lewis
Off the beaten path, cute, little restaurant, beautiful patio setting with a water feature. Great service. Fried green tomatoes (good-a bit greasy, under seasoned), chicken/sausage gumbo (okay-on the spicy side) & charcuterie plate (nice-warm brie, cheese, salami, fruit, toasted slices of baguette), bourbon cocktail (v/good). Will try again.

We Googled and decided to go. The food is creole based and delicious! Another first visit for us. The menu offers good selections. And I had a perfect Bloody Mary. The GM came out to check on us and the staff is very friendly. Selena’s was a great find!

Finally tried Selena's for my wife's birthday and glad we did! A wonderful little place. We had reservations, we're greeted by a very friendly hostess and promptly seated. It's a very cozy atmosphere and a place where you can dress up, or be casual. A nice selection of tasty sounding items on the menu, so deciding was a challenge. We had the calamari for an appetizer. Very nice. My wife chose the corn flake encrusted house made fish sticks, I chose one of the daily specials which was a blackened redfish with grilled asparagus and red beans and rice. Very nice portions, absolutely delicious! We are already planning our next visit to introduce my in-laws coming in from Illinois. Our waitress was on point. Very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable answering all the questions we threw at her. Thanks for a lovely evening. Oh yeah, they also treated us to a complimentary desert for my wife's birthday. We chose the banana foster. I'm still drooling it was so good. Give it a try. I think you will be glad you did!

As an out of towner on business this place is really quite amazing versus some other areas that I have travelled to in the Midwest. The atmosphere is simply “cool” and COORS on TAP!…amazing…and the food outstanding…when in the Louisville area be sure try Selena’s! Bar staff (Christian) is very genuine and friendly and makes one feel really welcome. Thanks to the chefs too!

Brian was our server. He was excellent! He was friendly and efficient. As always the food was cooked to perfection. This time I had the blackened salmon special w/dirty rice and the grilled vegetables were squash, zucchini and carrots.
It was a perfect day to sit outside on the patio under the umbrella by the Koi pond!

This was our first time to Selena's at Willow Lake Tavern. But, we have to admit, we used to shoot pool there when it was just Willow Lake Tavern! We were seated outside next to a fountain and fish pond. This added an extra touch to the ambiance of the outdoor seating.
We started our dining adventure with the Selena's Crab Caps. The Caps were mushrooms baked with Selena's own signature crab meat stuffing. They were delicious. My wife had the house salad with the grilled shrimp. The salad consisted of chopped romaine, tomato, radishes, red onion, and pickled beets. Of course, you had a choice of various dressings. My wife found it very tasty.
I had the Spinach Lasagna, which was made with layers of lasagna noodles, spinach, ricotta, mozzarella, Romano cheese, and Selena's own tomato sauce. The lasagna was very flavorful. I also enjoyed a bowl of the house Clam Chowder made with clams, Sherry and Chablis wine, cream, selected vegetables, herbs, and spices With our dinner we enjoyed an inexpensive bottle of Ecco Domani Pinot Grigio.
We will enjoy this establishment again in the very near future. I would recommend Selena's to anybody who is looking for a great dining experience for a reasonable price.

In the top three meals I have ever had. Portions are large and the depth of flavors is outstanding. The gumbo is the best I've had and the crab rolls were top notch. The medley was amazing, the meatballs were so delicious. The grits were so creamy and smooth. Seriously don't miss this place if you are ever in Louisville.
Madison Murray
My first time here and it did not disappoint! Food was FULL OF FLAVOR, fresh, beautiful ambience and great service! What more could a girl ask for? If you haven’t gone yet, you must!
Sierra B
The hostess was super nice when i arrived. The waiter started out a bit rough and rude but over time he softened up and was kinda nice. The food was good and tasty but absolutley nothing special. I had the stuffed mushroom appetizer and for dinner i chose the jambalaya and a side of brussel sprouts. The brussels were the best part of the meal.

Sunday brunch. Walk in with no reservations and we were seated immediately. Waiter forgot about us and took almost 15 minutes before we were acknowledged.
Drink and food order taken. Beyond drink recommendations only beignets were suggested.
French toast with grits and a side of sausage and country ham breakfast were ordered.
French toast had great flavor, especially with the addition of cinnamon butter, on top. A small, plastic cup of syrup was included. Main drawback was baget was sliced on diagonal. Gives quite a bit of crunch; but, does not allow custard to permeate the bread. Center most part was the best; but, that was only 1/3rd of the piece. Grits were fantastic!
Sausage has great flavor and texture.
Country ham breakfast was very good.

The food was amazing, the staff was friendly, and the vibe was great. Definitely would go again. I recommend to ask the server about the specials and get those because they are amazing.
Ricardo Bray
Well I came out here just because I was hungry and Google recommended it. And OHBOI did Google recommend good things indeed! Their pasta was incredible and delicious, al dente, so they know a thing or two about cooking. Not only that but the staff was gentle, attentive, and on point. No unnecessary table visits, were intuitive for when I needed something, and comprehensive to have my personal needs and requests fulfilled (I'm super lactose intolerant and they met and exceeded my expectations). Food's incredible, staff is amazing, wine variety is superb.... What else do i need? Thank you guys!
Travis Smith
Friendly staff, great food. Have gone for brunch and dinner. Pic are dinner salad, bread, meatballs with linguine and chicken parm with linguine. Desert was chocolate lava cake and key lime cheese cake. Delish!

Selena's is one of our favorite places in Louisville. The atmosphere is great, especially in warmer weather- try to sit outside if you can. Reservations are a must with this place. My husband is a creole connoisseur, he absolutely loves the gumbo and gets it every time. He says it's the best he's ever had and that's really saying something with him. My favorite is the bacon wrapped shrimp and grits and the fish and chips. Everything is always cooked perfectly and fresh. The coleslaw isn't my favorite but it's not bad, I'm just more of a vinegar slaw fan. Start with the spinach and artichoke dip, you won't regret that. There are times I get a salad and ask for their French bread. It's enough, I'm happy with just the bread and butter honestly.
Phoenix Smiles
The food and atmosphere are both good. The drinks are great. Nice and strong, just how I like them. The quality of the food and the portion sizes fit with the price. The meals average about $20-$25. My only complaint is the portion size of the apps were small but high priced. Overall a good restaurant and I will definitely come back.
Geoff Tewalt
We had the family out for a celebration. We received a bread pudding with a candle for the cake and it was delicious. My sister ordered a vegetarian pasta and that was a little bit plain, but everything else was very delicious. I especially love the red beans and rice.
Glenn Johnson
Had reservations with fairly large party. Seated quickly. Food and service was great! Bread pudding is huge and shareable and I recommend it over the lava cake. Shrimp pasta special was excellent.
Heather
The atmosphere is so cute and cozy with it's brick floors, stone walls, and fireplace. I will be back in the summer to try out the outdoor area and koi pond. I had the spinach bacon salad and my husband had jambalaya. Both were really good. And the bananas foster dessert is to die for!
Billy Elmore
Food was very good and different than I'm used to or expected (Sicilian + Creole). I definitely recommend the chicken parmigiana and their take of the Old Fashion. Environment including outdoor seating has a very nice vibe.
Tracy Davis
Really enjoyed my meal, I got Chicken Parmigiana. My husband got fish fingers and shrimp. He said the were decent. Also, had the molten lava cake. It was super good. It is a bit pricey but enjoyed it and the atmosphere
joseph muratori
Service was great thanks to waiter Brian! He was very personable and took great care of my table of 4. The food quality was perfect, Order the French toast and you will be blown away, not your typical French toast.
Misty Church
We had not been here in several years. It was just as pleasant as I remembered it to be. We each had a cajun dish and were very pleased. The waitress was fun and friendly and very good at taking care of us. We look forward to returning.
realtyjungle queen
First experience with Creole. Wasn't disappointed. I can't wait to go back and try their gumbo.
P. Thompson
Visited this afternoon for lunch with some friends, service was excellent. I had the blackened chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. There were no complaints at our table about food or service. The menu, especially, as very diverse. Someone at my table had the gumbo and said that it was great ! We came right when brunch had ended , and the brunch menu looked amazing ! I will be visiting again soon !
gary sego
Located in the old Willow Tree Tavern the atmosphere is like your long time dinner. In the Spring and Summer is even better on the patio.Great Cajun food from blacken dishes to red beans and rice
P. Meek
Celine did a wonderful job as a server, even though they seemed very busy and maybe a bit understaffed. We were seated and then forgotten. I think it was miscommunication and everyone makes mistakes. She brought us free beniets to foster good PR and did a marvelous job. She brought our birthday girl a free bread pudding also! Nice touch. It was our first time there & we will be back.
laura young
The entire experience at Selena's was wonderful! The wine, the twinkly lights, the service, the food, the dessert...holy cow! It was amazing. Every time I eat here, it's amazing!
CB
Great spot to grab a bit to eat. They have a ton of outdoor seating and the staff was very friendly. There was a problem getting a server to start our table took a while, but after that was good. The food was very delicious and overall nice time for quick lunch.
Dolly
Went with a group of 8 and it was my first time there. We had a great table and the server was very good and did a great job with all of us. Everyone enjoyed their dinner and I will definitely be back. I remember when this was a tavern..I live when someone takes something old and keeps the good but makes it better.
Ron Fisher
The beignets here are exactly like the ones I’ve had in New Orleans. They are amazing. They had a pretty good Bloody Mary for only $5. Everyone we talked to who worked here was super nice and informative about the menu. The fish and chips and turkey salad sandwich were both good. The fish and chips were probably one of the best I’ve had locally and the chicken salad probably wasn’t the BEST but the croissant it came on made the sandwich excellent. The place is pretty average as far as price goes too.
Amanda Herndon
Stopped in for happy hour. The Diablo Chicken (chicken stuffed with Jalapeño) and wrapped in bacon was delish!!! Outdoor seating was heated and decorated for the season.. Would recommend and will be back.
RJ Conner
Very nice place to eat and very close to E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park. The staff are so friendly and very accommodating. The meals are delicious and well presented. Worth the drive and good prices for the menu. Also $2 mimosas and many more. They have indoor and outdoor parts and both are great places to have meals because even in summer, the trees will keep you shaded from the heat of the sun. Also they have a Koi Pond with a catfish and the staff would even give you fish food which can also entertain kids and toddlers to feed the fish and watch them. Perfect place for family to visit. Delicious and interesting meals and food choices. I personally love Creoles and I am looking forward to our next visit. Also we were advised to make reservations for dinner. They have weekends brunch menu. We ordered creole omelette and Mediterranean omelette. Both are delicious and must try dishes. Also the peach belini for $2 was so worth it. You must try it!
Robert Griffiths
Stop by here on a whim on the way through and it was amazing. You have to try the Gumbo!! If you come here and you don't try it you have completely wasted your time. Attn Mgr ~ Bryan Wilson gave us the very best service. Thank you for an amazing meal.
M Berrier
The food is good. Blackened shrimp Alfredo pasta was great (could easily be shared with someone), the seafood chowder was flavorful and very filling for a bowl size. The bread pudding was ok. Tastes like a basic bread pudding. It was a large portion enough to share with 2-3 people. A bit expensive, but I guess the price reflects the people who live in Anchorage maybe. It was a nice experience for one time. So maybe come here, get a soup and share a dinner plate with someone.
If you want a really amazing bread pudding with a crunchy texture and not so soaked, try Doc Crow's bread pudding. I swear it's the best and the consistency or texture of the inside doesn't make want to gag.
Stephonn Bunton
My first time eating at Selena's for brunch and it did not disappoint. Started off with the beignets and a Peach Bellini. The beignets were so warm and fluffy and hit just right with powdered sugar. The Bellini was excellent for just $2. For my main dish, I ordered the Creole Omelet. This omelet had so much flavor and the eggs were light and fluffy. The hasbrown casserole was excellent as well. I had a mimosa with my omelet, which was just the right compliment. Combine that with the ambience, great service and good price points, this was just a great dining experience!
Ken Kalmey
Both were very good! I had a cup of clam chowder and a chicken salad sandwich. My wife had a salad with grilled shrimp, nuts and fruit. Started with a bloody Mary. The service was excellent. Our total bill including tip was under $50. I forgot check out the restrooms. Selena's is worth the time.
Mike Sims
Highly recommend this place! Our waitress was Marla and she was fantastic. We started off with fried green tomatoes, the chicken diablo and the shrimp and grits. For the main course, I got the chicken piccata and my wife got the ribeye. The ribeye was one of the best steaks I have ever tasted! The piccata was very good as well. For desert, we had the bread pudding, bananas fosters and salted caramel cheesecake. These were seriously some of the best desserts! Bananas foster is something I would not typically order, but I would get it every we come back here if I could. Will return again very soon!

My husband and I were on a CVMA National Convention trip and happened upon Selena’s. We had an amazing dinner, they took care of us and thanked my husband (Vietnam Vet) for his service. We enjoyed our experience so much, we brought our friends ( also Veterans) the next evening. They all raved about the food and service. If you’re in the area, please stop by and enjoy an amazing meal and outside seating is awesome. Thanks again Selena’s for an amazing dinner both nights for us, and to your awesome staff.
willie porter
From beginning to the end was delicious 😋. Took the wife to brunch for her birthday. She enjoyed herself and the food. Two thumbs to the waiter and the chefs 👍🏾👍🏾. We'll definitely be back for more.
Serge Suprun
Great spot to sit at the bar or come for dinner date. Inside and outside seating available. Private parking next to the restaurant. Great service and many delicious Cajun choices.
I recommend trying stuffed shrimp, fish of the day (red fish was great choice) with two sides and don’t forget to try their pudding.
Courtney C
Always love coming here! Brian is the best! They gave my 3 year old fish food to feed the fish and it kept him entertained the entire time. Their breakfast never disappoints. I always get the eggs sardou, French toast or biscuits and gravy with a side of either cheese grits or hashbrown casserole. I've heard great things about their chicken and waffles, I'm just not a chicken and waffles kind of person. Friendly staff and awesome food!
Bella Thompson
Went for a birthday party, my partner and I have dietary restrictions (vegan) and still found good food to eat. We got the Selena's house salad with raspberry balsamic dressing, sweet potato and regular fries, and the vegetable of the day. Wine was great, bear was great, and while I didn't get to try the cocktails, they looked amazing.
Todd DeYoung
Love this tavern!! Great food and amazing friendly local service. Everytime I go there I enjoy myself.
Jasmine Bischof
The food was phenomenal as well as the staff and the atmosphere. Great place for a romantic date. Theres a lovely view. As you walk in, to the left is more of the traditional bar setting but as you walk forward, it's a completely different atmosphere. Dim lit and cozy. The menu is New Orleans inspired and the staff seems very knowledgeable of the menu. The place is definitely on the pricey side.
Sharon Lauriat
The beignets were delicious. Watch out for the bees if you sit outside. It is surrounded by honeysuckle vines. They didn't bother me, but just a fair warning if you have a bee allergy.
Jeff Leftwich
Great food, great atmosphere, friendly staff. This is our first experience but will definitely be back. Not only were the entrées great but so was the dessert.
Elaine Morgan
I was so looking forward to the spinach salad. A BIG disappointment hit bacon was like hot water with a few pieces of bacon maybe a little onion. Please get a good recipe for hot bacon dressing. It came with a hard boiled egg quartered. For 15 dollars it was bad. Remember the dressing makes your salad. I doubt I will go back
Chuck Walker
Great service! We had a dinner party of 19 folks. Our waitress served us all with wonderful attention, sweet kindness, good promptness, and everyone of us got exactly what we ordered, apps, entrees, sides, and drinks. The food was delicious!
Alan Miller
Got 2 appetizers, the hot spinach salad and split the chicken Parmigiano, cost 50 dollars.
They were short staffed but still stayed on top of things. Definitely will come back.
June Truth
Everything from the service to the food and the atmosphere was exceptional. I'm a very picky vegetarian and my only regret was not finding this place before. I will be back for sure. The staff and the young waiter who took care of us were extremely professional.
Larry Childs
Above average food, waiter was excellent at lunch. Beer was cold - will mos def be back.
Jared Simpson
Best first experience I think I could have had here. Amazing food and service all around. Has very good entre and appetizer choices.
Brandon Fishburn
Soooooo good! In from our of town, and I'm so happy i stopped in. The food was wonderful. I had the gumbo, crab caps, and the New Orleans Medley! Fantastic!
aaron warren
Great food and the service was amazing! Prices weren’t awful either. And the seating was great, outside tables were great.
Lecrecia W.
First time eating here. I was in town again for work...this place had some pretty good reviews, so I decided to give it a try. I don't know if it's supposed to be part of its small town "charm"? But the place could use some updating. Other than that though, the food and service were fantastic. No complaints. :)
Mike Spurlock
Terrific! Great job with our wedding rehearsal dinner. Nice outdoor seating area. Service was great.
Eugene White
This is the best restraunt ever! Really cozy building, good beer, and the food is insanely good. Really makes you feel like you are in New Orleans.
Tia O'Connor
From the time that I walked into the door to the time that I exited the service was impeccable!! Everyone was so friendly and helpful and nice! Now for the food. This has to be the BEST Mediterranean omelet I’ve had IN LIFE. So full of flavor. It comes with a side of cheese grits or hash brown casserole (pictured) and a butter milk biscuit. I ordered a side of fruit. And you can see it’s a very healthy portion and I was unable to eat it all, but not because I didn’t have a desire to! If I’m ever in Louisville this will def be at the top of my list of places to visit again. I might even come back for dinner tonight!!
DC Grace
Great wine and food. Clam chowder is superb! Waitress could have been a little friendlier. We were celebrating an important event and felt like we were putting her out. Otherwise, it was very nice.
Michael McDonald
Wonderful food, excellent service. The biscuit and gravy meal is outstanding and will fill you up.
Bill Schneider
Good outdoor dining atmosphere and hard working servers. Food was good. Thought the menu prices were too high even for these inflationary times. $30 for jambalaya? Come on. Would not go back because of this.
Toni Lange
Had the blackened Shrimp daily special~ was excellent !! My server Bryan was efficient and friendly, Full of info and recommendations.
Loved everything. Absolutely will be back.
Wayneesha Smith
Great service, food, and atmosphere! Great for birthday parties and date night! Love this place ❤️
Rachel Ford
Such an amazing atmosphere and the staff was beyond kind and accommodating! It's a whole vibe outside! The Coi pond was so beautiful and the little fish were beautiful! The Gumbo blew my mind! Highly recommend this place for brunch dates!!
Rachael Brown
So glad we found this little gem! Worth the few extra minutes off the beaten path. Everything on the menu and special board sounded delicious! The lunch prices were very affordable, especially considering the high quality dishes and ingredients. We loved our meal and will be back!
Robin Moore
Local watering hole and now a great cajun inspired restaurant. The daily gumbo is a must try. Served with fresh french bread I will deff be back for more!
Charice Malone
Wonderful. Place to be cozy and the food choices superb.. Great Chief ,our waitress. With our large party showed her skills ..the young hostess. We're so sweet ,all around great place hidden treasure for Louisville.
Devonna McGraw
We drive from Ohio to eat at Selena's. The best gumbo, chicken and waffles, and pretty much everything! Saturday and Sunday brunch are the best times to go! Peach Belini $2!
Victoria Dodge
Great food, huge portions, attentive service! Peach Bellini and Mimosas $2.00
dy e
Great atmosphere and food also. Friendly staff from top to bottom. Gumbo is to die for, and so many other options you will not be disappointed. Po boy sandwich, soups, steak, seafood are all on the menu. And the appetizers are just as good. ENJOY
rolando scott
We had Dinner at Selina's this evening (a party of six). We originally were seated in a booth that accommodates only 5 people. They said it was the only space available. We went to Host and requested different seating arrangements. Thankfully they found us better seating.
The Decor, ambiance, food and service were exceptional. They exceeded our expectations. I give them 10 stars. We will definitely dine here again. Thank you.
audrey whelan
Ordered the spinach artichoke appetizer and shrimp and grits entree. The service was friendly and the food was pretty good, but my main issue was with the portion sizes. For the prices (and considering that the actual food cost of items ordered should be relatively low) I was highly disappointed with the amount of food I actually received.
Nathan Bellows
This is one of my very favorite restaurants in Louisville!! If you're ever jonesing for some New Orleans cuisine, come here, because it puts alot of the places in the Big Easy to shame!! The food and service are top notch and you will not be disappointed!
Dennis Reynolds
Great food and a fun atmosphere. Our waiter was nice and we will be coming back. I had the shrimp and grits and my lover had the spaghetti 🍝 and meatballs. We had the crab rolls for appetizer and had plenty of food.
Kimberly
Great food and service. We had a family get together for about 30 people including kids outside. Our server was very prompt and never missed a beat. My husband and I ordered several appetizers and everything came out hot and tasty. There was a few pests but hey its summer and they don't eat much and the huge fans helped keep them at bay.
John Termini
The food was great but for some reason restaurants in Louisville have a hard time serving food hot.
Helen
Outdoor seating area is wonderful with a nice water feature. Really felt relaxed there. Attentive staff. But, they got my order wrong, hence 4 stars. It was quickly rectified though. I'll be going back.
Chase Weathers
The steak on the menu doesn’t have a price 😂 it was a $57 steak. Little expensive for me …
Paige Hendrickson
Wonderful food and atmosphere! Excellent service too.
Gary Barmore
Great service and food! The Outside patio was fantastic.
Jason Sexton
Best gumbo ever staff was very friendly and the manager brought a free bowl of gumbo. We ordered 2 quarts to take home . It's a hidden gem 💎 thanks all of you for great service and awesome food. Will be back …
Erik Sean Wolff
Although I have been to Selena's multiple times for dinner... I had never experienced their brunch and it is, I am going to say, probably at the very top of my favorite brunch spots now!
Lisa Miller
Food was excellent and service was great. Loved the atmosphere
Pat Gosnell
This is such a pretty place with food that definitely gives a big nod to NOLA.
Joel Sundquist
Waiter was very nice and helpful. Had a good sense of humor and the food was excellent.
Jason Dusch
Love Selena's. I try to get something new each time I go, and the specials are usually excellent, but sometimes I just have to get the chicken parm! It is absolutely the best you can get in Louisville. Servers are always excellent and attentive. This place is simply as good as it gets.
Beth Wilkerson
I was invited here by a friend that lives in the area, and boy what a treat! The food, atmosphere, the menu, I could go on-and-on. The outdoor dining when the weather is nice is a popular spot. I can’t wait to return next time I’m in town.
Parrish S (Bluegrass Designer)
Im not a seafood guy, but I hear that it is amazing here! I give this place 5 stars because not only was the service and cocktails great, but this is one of the only seafood places in town where the non-seafood options held up to a similar standard as the seafood options. I highly recommend the blackened chicken for the non-seafood guests of the seafood lovers.
Brandon Joeseph
Loved it! Felt like authentic Louisville. Service was warm and genuine, drinks were perfect, I want to go back for patio season!
Matt Duncan
Great food and service in one of the best atmospheres around!
Rodney Lockridge
First time there. Had the grouper special. It was wonderful. We got a discount on Groupon, that made it even better. Deffinetly going back.
Sang L
Unexpected treasure. Their menu is mainly something I find in New Orleans. I had the Etouffee which was great. Next time I'm planning to get the Gumbo and Po's boy.
Mark Broadus
Very nice outside seating. The food was great with a short wait
J. Mark Holbrook
Great food. My wife ordered Creole and I ordered Italian. Neither one of us was disappointed.
Madison
I treated my family to a dinner for my baby sister’s 16th birthday here at Selena’s. Not only was the food excellent, but what impressed us all the most was our server, Chad!
He was absolutely fantastic! The restaurant was exceedingly busy at the time, as was he, but he made it seem as though we were the only table that he had. He was so considerate, thorough, and had a wonderful demeanor and sense of humor. His service was so wonderful that my family has decided we will return to dine at Selena’s for all our special occasions! But we will always request Chad! I suggest you do the same if you dine in this establishment, to ensure that you receive the absolute best service possible!
Cindy Anderson
My sister and I had Sunday brunch here to celebrate her birthday. The food was absolutely delicious! Our server was attentive and allowed us time to talk and catch up. Definitely will be back soon!
Lear Foster
Great date night dinner spot! Love the atmosphere and service is always superb!
kev godsey
Food was delicious. I highly recommend a stop in for brunch
James Robinson
Slow service fish sandwich special was just ok ,no refill on water. Not worth the price
Nick Beckham
Had brunch here & it was a great way to celebrate our 6 year wedding anniversary! Everything was great & we will definitely be back.
B W
Excellent staff, food was great! Will definately go again!
Tamara Mazzoccoli
I had the bacon wrapped shrimp and cheese grits. The bacon was not completely cooked so ask for it if you prefer it that way. The shrimp still had tails and they were placed on top of the cheese grits while still dripping with bacon grease which pooled in the grits. It doesn't come with salad or bread; just the bowl of grits with 6 shrimp. So for $21, you could probably go somewhere else and get a better meal. The staff was extremely friendly and my drinks were refilled quickly. The atmosphere was lovely as well. Basically, could only give 3 stars because it was overpriced.
Caleb Barley
Delicious food. One of the best brunch spots I've been to. Big fan of the cheese grits, though the hash brown casserole is also tasty. Plenty of outdoor seating and quite a bit of indoor seating as well. Reservations are very useful here.
P M
We had been here years ago and weren't that impressed, but this time they were amazing!!! The food and service were truly top notch!
Bobbie Brown
So yummy!! Nice to have good Cajun food so far away from NOLA. The food was impeccable and reasonably priced for fresh seafood. However, this night the service was slow and a little chaotic.
It took 10 minutes after seating to be waited on (the wait staff wasn't sure whose table we were), and then another 10 minutes for our drinks to come out. The kitchen staff gave our appetizer to another table, which added another 15 minutes before another came out, and then another 10 before our waitress took our order. The staff was doing their best, but were definitely struggling.

Selena's is a phenomenonal experience! Seriously some of the best food I've had, the red beans and rice is amazing! The service was fantastic. We had a large group, had small children and stayed a bit late but the staff were nothing but courteous and helpful. Will definitely be coming back anytime we're in town!
CHRIS BROWN
This is by far one of my favorite restaurants in Louisville to eat at. my entire family loves going here for brunch on the weekends and just any other time to have great food
LilChorizo
We had such an amazing meal here! We had ordered the Oyster Selena and Praline Brie as our Appetizers, first off the oysters are to die for, way better than I expected, secondly, the brie was so godly. We had also ordered the New Orleans Medly and Hand cut steak for our entrees. Our waiter Zac made this experience so amazing! He did an excellent job telling us the great details about today's specials and making the mood great! Hope to have him serve us again soon!
Beverly clark
1st time there. Food was 😋😋😋! The service was just ok.😐 Not the worst but could have been better. We sat in the bar area so that may have had something to do with it? Anyway, I'll Definitely be back! …
Ginny Hampton
Visited for lunch. Great food, atmosphere, and wonderful service. I had the oyster poor boy with sweet potato fries and a cup of chicken pot pie soup. My friend had spaghetti with meatballs. Mine was delicious. My friend said hers was delicious. Took half of it home.
Louise Turpak
Got fish n chips. Delicious. Coleslaw too much mayonnaise, too sweet. Waitress didn't ask if we wanted dessert. Had to ask for straws, silverware, and ketchup
Carol Block
Friends and I had dinner there. I’ve been there many times and always love the food. Got the shrimp and grits upon recommendation of my friend. Gotta say it was awful. Grits had zero taste and were not even warm. Bacon wrapped shrimp with it was great but very disappointed. They gave us a whole 20% off on the shrimp and grits. Not real impressive of mgmt but our service was excellent as always
Bottom line: Love this place just don’t suggest you order the shrimp and grits!! I always have the chicken piccata which is amazing.... I’ll be back for that!!!!
Ravi B
Food was great. Our server Kevin was amazing and the beignets were delicious! Will definitely visit again when I'm in town
Darcy Thomas
Serves was awesome, but food was over cooked for three out of four of our meals. When making reservations they asked if it was special occasion. I said yes in laws 64th wedding anniversary. Nothing was said and didn't even ask if we wanted dessert.
Stacie Dunlow
Such a great experience! Service was superb. Food was devine!! Lovely, large patio area with a fish pond. They actually provide fish food for children to feed the fish. Super cute idea and helps keep little ones occupied. They also offer crayons and picture pages. We were there for Saturday brunch and had Beignets for the table as well as the praline Brie starter (wonderful!). I had the half & half with the Eggs Sardou being my favorite half, but their hollandaise sauce is so good. The omelets and french toast looked delicious, but I didn't try them. Just a wonderful overall experience. Hope to visit again.
Deamber Clopton
This place never disappoints. Dinner was amazing, drinks were just right, love the atmosphere, the service is top notch and quick, and so accommodating. I would recommend this place time and time again. The patio area was warm and private so we were able to use the entire space. Thank you for all the help with reservations and making our evening great.
Wild Man Mountain Jack
The food was great. We came right between brunch and lunch on Sunday. We were pleased with everything we ordered We are already planning to go back. One thing stood out - the chicken in the jambalaya was seasoned perfectly.
Jason Gallavin
Delicious oysters, shrimp, and crab cakes!
Marcella Ruiz
Pleasantly surprised how good the food was. We had corn flake encrusted fish fingers that were excellent and I don't even like fish that much. The pasta and meatballs dish was very good. The chocolate lava cake for dessert was also very good. The only thing I didn't care for was the coffee; it was edible but rather tasteless. Bryan our server was a peach. The inside of the restaurant was well maintained. I would definitely go back and try different dishes.
Misty Weisert
Selenas spinach and artichoke dip is amazing! Bread pudding to die for! Got the "New Orleans Medley" which was OK..too much liquid in bottom of plate for my liking..red beans seemed tough and everything seemed mixed together..Ill def be back, but Ill try another entree..still tasty, though! service was top notch!
Nancy LaBreacht
We celebrate my mother's birthday there (2 years running) and the place just couldn't be better. Food is unique, really good and very reasonable. But the setting is the best part. It feels like an old country inn with a roaring fireplace and stone walls throughout. Plus a cool bar that I never have gotten to visit (some day without my clan).
They have done a great job with social distancing adding outdoor heated (it was toasty, y'all) seating. Please support this small business if you can. They are doing everything right.
Alfred Brownlee
We had a great time food an drinks was nice.
Brittany Longmire
This place is amazing! Very flavourful and great portion sizes. The 1979 Salad was made with a homemade vinaigrette that is tangy and delicious. The bacon wrapped oysters are cooked to perfection and so juicy just thinking about it makes my mouth water. The Shrimp and grits where good, but I'm picky about my grits, they could have used more cheese but still really tasty and the bacon wrapped shrimp was perfectly plump, juicy and tender. Every bite was heaven. Great place for great food.
Tc Coombs
Great food, excellent service, really relaxing atmosphere
Shuying Sha
The spinach salad is not fresh and mich worse than any chick fila salad. The Selena osyter plate has no oysters in it, more like a small cup of spinach dip. The shrimp Po boy can't compare bwith those in New Orleans. Not really worth the money. I can have similar or better quality from a fast food restaurant for the items I ordered.
Joseph DeVuono
Nice ambiance. Good service. A bit expensive, but the salads, the seafood and creaole-style is worth it. We are not fans of chicken picatta, and the chicken parmigiana from our previous visit could have been more flavorful. The Lefty Burger was tasty. We will return.
Shawn Vega Velez
Good food and atmosphere. The Grouper is excellent as is the red beans and rice. The 1979 salad is definitely worth getting. I wasn't a fan of their dirty rice. It had good flavor, but too much liquid. The waitress was friendly and attentive.
Jeff Butler
Friendly, professional service and outstanding food. The prices are more than fair for the portions served.
Tamra Means
Second visit. Both times were carryout and it was great!
Zach Fry, The Real Estate Guy!
This place is really dramatically improved over the years! I remember going several years ago in the food and service and atmosphere we're not as good as they are now. Had a wonderful lunch there the other day with a friend and was very impressed by everything. It was a birthday so they brought us a free bread pudding as well which was the best I've ever had in my life! Highly recommended
Jim Hill
Probably the closest you'll get in Kentucky to a genuine Cajun cuisine. I had the sampler with jambalaya, etoufe, and red beans and rice. I added a bowl of gumbo just to finish off the sampler. For my appetizer, i had the calamari. They use a sweet dipping sauce and they drizzled it over the calamari. Never had it like that before but it was awesome. Wife had stuffed shroons, cheesy grits w/shrimp, and crab rolls. Mushrooms were great, crab rolls were great, but the grits were kind of dry and pasty. The bacon on the shrimp was under cooked and the shrimp still had the tails on them so you had to unwrap them, to eat them. Will we go back? You betcha!
Teri Marie
Gorgeous atmosphere...sat by the pond. Fantastic service, amazing food (had Praline Brie as an appetizer, fish special with sweet potato fries and Bananas Foster for dessert). A wonderful dining experience. Will definitely be back.
Bob Bauer
Great food and a lot cheaper than a trip to the French Quarter.
Diane Karem
Delightful atmosphere, great food and if you like dessert, you must try the bread pudding, it is off the charts fabulous!
Mike Norris (aka scuba_mike aka Sirron)
Awesome early dinner. Our server Josh did a wonderful job. And the food was great.
Andy Stine
Best cajun food I've had in a long time. Reasonably priced and quality is worth it. Go to Groupon for a good deal. Then you'll be hooked!
Andrew DeGruccio
New Orleans fare hidden in Lagrange. Classic New Orleans feel. Local favorite.
Sam
Wow....great food......great service......great location. This place rings all the bells. The spinach lasagna was incredible. The blackened catfish was perfect. The bread pudding dessert was cinnamon heaven.
We arrived at 4pm on Friday. There was no wait but if you want to go in the evening on the weekend you must have a reservation. This place stays crowded. A true hidden gem in louisville...I can't think of one thing wrong with this restaurant.
Bob Lowrey
Made a reservation for a Tuesday at 6:30, and the place was hoppin'. Not entirely booked up, but busy. Didn't expect to have a quasi-valet parking situation, but definitely for the best with the relatively limited parking.
Service was fast, food was INCREDIBLE. Crab Roll app, Fish of the day, Crawfish Etouffee. Finished with a dessert of the bread pudding (which could have served 4!)
Definitely coming back!
Joy Smith
Staff was very friendly but I ordered the shrimp and grits( I had been craving it for about a week so I Google some restaurants that served this particular dish) but when I got it I was very disappointed because that definitely was not red eye gray that they put on it. The chef needs to try again.
Harry Titshaw
Very good and locally popular place. Food good to excellent with a most comfortable "Cheers" kind of feel. Everybody knows your name. Nice outdoor seating and ambiance as well. Worth checking out. Staff was superb.
Darcy Sylvester
So good. Bananas Foster cannot be beat.
Supercharged Steve
My wife and I love Cajun food. When our favorite local spot shut down a few years ago, we struggled to find something good in this entire area. Selena's changed all that! Great made from scratch Cajun favorites, gumbo, jambalaya, crawfish, red beans and rice. All of it is fantastic and the service is always pleasant as well. If you like some spice in your life, this is the place!!
Robin Goins
Excellent service. We had a church group of 16, the waiter was the best! We had our food within 15 minutes of ordering. Drink refills kept coming, never had to wait on anything. Portion sizes were large. The only complaint was the coating of the fried fish was a little soggy. Crisper would have been better.
Sheri S
Felt like family with the staff. No pressure to dine quickly. Great outdoor options and get the Specials they are always great.
Adam Ray
Service was great! I had a shrimp po boy... Good for seafood in Kentucky. Tomato bisque was awesome. My lunch mates had blackened fish either on a salad or as it's own dish. Their dishes looked great and they gave them high marks. Will definitely visit again!
Ian Bischof
All of the staff were friendly and our server seemed very knowledgeable about the menu, especially considering my wife has a gluten allergy. The food was absolutely delicious! Great for a date night! From the outside the place looks rough, but on the inside it's really nice. It would be nice if they could pave the parking lot and maybe update their sign so that the outside would be as nice as the inside!
Linda Brewer
First time eating here and I was not disappointed. The gumbo was some of the best I've had. And for just 10.00you got a hugh bowl full of delishousness. The sampler with jambalaya, red beans and rich and ship and crawfish ettuffee (spelled wrong)lol was great as well. Brought home some bread pudding but haven't tried it yet. I will be going back
Jaye Bittner
Selena's is our go place! We recently went to a Wedding Dinner there! It was fantastic and Derek and Daniel were great. We also go there a lot for dinner. In or out we thoroughly enjoy it!
Rhonda Barnett
Selena's is flat out wonderful! The Praline Brie is excellent as an appetizer. I had their Shrimp wrapped in bacon served over cheese grits-and it was perfect. Our servers Kevin and David were knowledgeable, patient with my slow decision making, and each of them have a great sense of humor. I'm definitely going back!!
Ian Akers
This is a great stop for Saturday brunch. They have both indoor and outdoor dining options. The food is always spectacular. The building itself is gorgeous and has plenty to keep you entertained while you wait for your food, and the wait staff is one of the best that I have ever experienced. The only knock that I have on the establishment is how crowded they get on Sundays, but with the quality of experience that you receive here, that is probably unavoidable.
Angela Bowling
We haven't been to Selena's in many years. This visit was wonderful. Our waiter was very good and made great suggestions for food choices. Our food was very good and I recommend the catfish for dinner and oysters for an appetizer. When we left, this place was packed.
Allison Baumann
There is a fantastic server in the main dining room that I would give 5 stars. All fish dishes are usually pretty good. Sometimes the service can be dicey, just depends who waits on your table. Beautiful patio and very good weekend brunch.
Laura Lee
Menu prices are high for mediocre food. We told them when we made reservations that we were celebrating our anniversary; the hostess said they would seat us by the waterfall. We could see the waterfall, but weren't close to it. We were next to a busy staircase and worried about social distancing as servers and patrons breezed by. I'm not sure what changed, but the food used to be better. We were disappointed.
Barbara Pierce
First of all let me say the food is delicious and the portions generous. My friend had the Shrimp and Grits and I had the Stuffed Shrimp. The outside of my shrimp were a little overdone but that was the only drawback. The reason I gave a 4 star has to do with the location and the ambience. The parking lot is gravel. We sat on the bar side due to a long wait in the restaurant side. The floor is uneven making your bar stool rock back and forth. At first we thought it was the stools but after changing stools realized it was not. The floor looked to be maybe painted concrete and not sure if it was deliberate or just due to wear but not all one color Maybe the restaurant side is better decor. Given this, I would say the food is overpriced. I would suggest lowering the prices somewhat with a bit smaller portions which would be more in line with the above mentioned issues.
auto dan
One of my favorite restaurants in the city.
Last year, my wife and I suggested Selena's for dinner when we had family in town for the Holiday; since then, we've made a half dozen additional visits and it's become the family favorite for lunch and dinner.
Service has been absolutely incredible every time we've visited. Servers have always been knowledgeable, respectful and professional.
The menu is different and expansive; and the food comes out fresh and piping hot.
Lauren Wood
Food is really good, service was great one time and okay the other. Kept feeling like we had been forgotten. The Food is definitely worth it though. Parking can kind of be a pain, definitely make reservations on the weekend, and expect to have your car parked for you. Bring cash to tip the valet.
Love that they have healthy options as well as hearty options.
Shadow Eddie
First time eating the place since I traveled from Northern Ky. Loved the little spicy kick on the gumbo and the chicken salad sandwich was exquisite. Desert, which was bread pudding, was the greatest thing I’ve ever had. Corrine (forgive me if I spelled it wrong) was the friendliest server I’ve had in years!
Jamie Jarecki
We went here with another couple for date night. We sat outside on a lovely night. Server was great. She recommended Chicken Diablo for appetizer. Everybody loved it. We also ordered brie which was very good but heavy. Entrees are large so appetizer may not be needed. I had the fish of the day which was prepared perfectly. Others had stuffed shrimp and shrimp and grits. Everything was so good and service was just right. We plan to return again.
Bruce Petty
Alan and his team make you feel like an old friend and serve good food that tastes made from scratch and with love. A table in the courtyard inside a heated tent on a wet, blustery day felt very comfortable. The care that goes into the food and the service is more than reason enough to go and go often. But and, remember how much wonderful places, and people like this are struggling during covid restrictions - please make an effort to show them the support and appreciation they deserve. You won't be sorry.
Jess Wishon
Best chicken and waffles I've had in a long, long time. The Benedict was also off the hook. The Bloody Mary (which was an extremely reasonable $5) was excellent. Really, everything was excellent. We'll definitely be back.
David Murphy
The food here is wonderful, the service sublime, and the outdoor patio is beautiful. They have valets standing by for parking, but parking in a mostly gravel medium sized lot. Would have given 5 stars if not for the train blasting by amid dinner conversations.
Victoria Armstrong
Didn't get the table/location we requested for a group of 10. It was freezing in the patio room even though we were inside. They ran out of the vegetable of the day. My entree was just so-so, the stuffed shrimp, I wouldn't order it again.
Michael Bedgood
Nice atmosphere, very cozy. Food is overpriced though. Valentine's special was a 12 oz ribeye steak, 2 lobster tails and 2 sides with 2 glasses of champagne. They took $8 off for the 2 glasses of champagne off cause we dont drink. This was suppose to be for 2 people but you have to split the 12 oz steak and they were out of lobster tails so they gave us 4 scallops in lieu of the 2 lobster tails. We ordered a half pound of mussels but half of the shells were empty. They gave us another order and didnt charge us for the mussels. Ordered artichoke dip, 2 salads and small cup of clam chowder. I purchased a $50 Groupon for $26. Total price spent was $103, which included a $15 tip. I would visit again.
Sherri Taylor
We always enjoy a casual lunch here. Service is quick, a rarity these.days. Food and drinks are very good.
Dennis Horn
Visited for brunch with a party of six and found a quaint, small place with not much parking along Park Road in Anchorage. Wait staff was friendly and helpful. The food was fairly basic, but prepared well. The best part of the meal were the piping hot beignets we ordered first--delicious. I got their country ham breakfast which was good, but not great--much better country ham to be had (Newsom's is my all-time favorite heritage country ham in KY!). Eggs were prepared well. A friend got the eggs Benedict, which she said contained a mustard sauce of sorts that she did not care for. Overall though, a good time with decent food.
Mike Henderson
A fun choice for Cajun flavors. Located in a charming older building makes it similar to New Orleans. They have a separate bar area inside and a huge courtyard dining area. Beignets are a must have along with the $2 Mimosa during Saturday & Sundays brunch. Service was busy and excellent. This was a great first time experience for my wife's birthday.
Vicki Ruston
We had dinner here for the first time last night & we are looking forward to going back. Our server, Andrew, was friendly & gave helpful answers about the menu. Food was absolutely delicious & satisfied our Creole/ Cajun craving since moving away from the Gulf Coast. The weather was beautiful so we were also able to enjoy sitting outside.
John
The service was amazing! They were patient and always present. The food was great too. Loved the ribeye steak. They sat us inside the tent that is connected to the restaurant. Did not feel cold. The heating was nice.
Paxton The Reviewer
The food and service are high quality and top tier. Cool spot with a wide arrange of menu choices.
Amanda Bailey-Shaw
Pros:
I got the catfish Po'Boy. Their catfish is delicious! One of the best I've had. The fish was HUGE and nearly hung off the plate. It's served on a lovely French bread with cabbage and tarter sauce (I used remoulade instead of tarter sauce) I substituted sweet potato fries for regular. The sweet potato fries were also very good. The food although fried, was crispy and seemed to not be terribly greasy. So much food I could only eat half!
The spinach and artichoke dip appetizer was tasty and topped with tons of stretchy cheese.
They do have a kids menu and crayons. The kids menu has the standard kids menu fare. Kiddos liked their mini corn dogs.
Cons:
Although we had a reservation, we were seated in the back booth with the A/C duct/vent leaking drops of liquid onto our table near my plate every couple minutes.
My husband got the New Orleans Medley. It looked gross. He loves Cajun and Creole food and wasn't impressed. He said my sandwich was way better than his food.
Their wine/cocktails menu weren't great.
Our waiter took forever to return to our table once our food was delivered. He spent awhile chatting with other waiters and cutting up. We were done eating, & drinks had sat empty the last half of the meal by the time he came back around. Instead of trying the bread pudding for dessert, we just asked for the check once he made his way back.
We all had terrible stomach aches after eating there.
I'm a former waitress. My husband would be much more forgiving than me. Not impressed overall.
Stephen Crider
Celebrated my wife's birthday here (party of 12) this week. Could not have been more pleased with accommodations, food, speed of service from an awesome young man who took great care of us.
Owner and manager especially helpful for dessert for everybody on a last minute request. Been here many times, and a favorite for many reasons.
Brad Baker
Good food and cold beer! Great combination! Great atmosphere!
Michelle Gomez
It gets very full on Sunday Brunch. Their hashbrouns casserole its original and delicious. Mimosas and Bellini's for 2.00! Great service regardless of how full they were.
Taylor Wyatt
First time here and I only have great things to say! First, our server Kevan was super attentive and on top of making our first time a great experience! The food is top notch and we are already planning our trip back!
David Lyons
The food is consistently above average. If you read a few of my many reviews, you'll know this is a high compliment. Selena's IS expensive, but simple dishes like the linguine and meatballs will tell you why. I will say, it's an unusual place; high quality food and wine but a neighborhood bar feel.
Marge Kubala
I SO love this restaurant and introduced my Aunt and Uncle to this establishment. The menu is great and extensive; their Sunday brunch AMAZING...BUT, make a reservation!!!
Walter McKeever
Atmosphere is great, not to loud. Food is hot and tasty. Our server, Chole, was on the spot especially her wine recommendation for a wine for my wife. All patrons appeared to be having a great time. Servers had a bound to their steps and always with a smile on their faces.
Fr. Jon Boukis
Took my church fellowship group of 35 people on a busy Saturday night. Food was great and Ray did a phenomenal job accommodating us by bringing in extra tables and chairs and rearranging the dining room. But I’m not surprised, Selena’s is always exceptional!
mmabel01
Great place for lunch or dinner. Be sure to make reservations for the restaurant, it is small with few tables or walk over and eat at the bar with no reservations needed. Great place!!
Chris Brown
This place is one of the best restaurants in the Louisville area. I highly suggest if u have the opportunity to eat here to do so.
Maureen Rogg
Their fish special was excellent. It was panseared corvina with garlic and tomato. I had the vegetable of the day ... asparagus. One of my favorite vegetables. It was prepared perfectly. This entree would be a great addition to the menu.
Terra Dawson
We're have ate there twice now & both experiences have been awesome! We were fortunate enough to have the 14oz Ribeye steak. It was cooked to perfection & very juicy & tender. The service is amazing!
Howard Taylor
Very nice meal. Enjoyed our time and meal with friends. Food and service were excellent! Definitely worth stopping in!
Crisann McCloy
Delicious food and incredible service! Especially during Covid they are very health conscientious and sensitive to obeying guidelines. Seriously though this is a local treasure and treat! Try the gumbo; you'll thank me later.
Vinod Nair
I wanted to like the place. The food I ordered (a special of the day red snapper) was passable. However, what warrants this three star rating is the below average wait service. Drinks were not refilled and we barely saw our wait staff in the hour plus time that we were there.
drizuid
My first time getting food here, the food wasn't ready at the pickup time but the staff were all super friendly and the food was great!
My second time getting food, the food had literally just been brought out, exactly on time and was ready to go. The staff were still super friendly and the good still great!
Mark Ranschaert
Great place for dinner date with friends, food was good, chicken diablo apps were good and fried green tomatoes were delicious. We have the cochino fish and oysters , everyone enjoyed their entree. The service was great as well. Little noisy with the train on the patio but it was infrequent. I would definitely return.
Lance Moore
Good service, ambience and food! Wish we lived closer to this place. We'd definitely be regulars
Windy Woods
It was delicious!I went there with a friend for my birthday. The atmosphere is so relaxing and cute. Soft lighting whit tabke cloths a garden outside. The calamari was delicious! I would go back again!
A S
Awesome atmosphere, great service, yummy clam chowder on fridays. Family friendly for well behaved kids.
Bill T
Love, love, love this quaint restaurant/cocktail lounge. We had lunch on the porch (mid-June) which we had to ourselves (2:00 in the afternoon and high 80 degrees) still a beautiful place for a meal and or drinks. Brian was very friendly, knowledgeable and eager to please. Highly recommend, but get there early because it will be crowded at peak time.
Linda Roe
Selena’s at Willow Lake Tavern was the scene of an 80th birthday celebration this past Sunday. Twenty of us gathered to have dinner and celebrate this wonderful occasion. Our waiter did an impressive job considering the size of our group. Separate checks arrived at the end - error free. My meal of Jambalaya was excellent. Everyone around me was very happy with their dinner choices.
Lauren Peterson
The food was excellent and service was amazing. This is a new favorite place to take out of town guests, as well as for a great meal any time of day. We had dinner most recently, but bruch is also awesome.
Jessica
The service received my husband and I at Selena's was excellent. I had the jambalaya and he had the catch of the day, both very tasty although the catch of the day was a bit pricey. The main reason for the star deduction was the seating. I was in the entryway next to a wall and hostess table with a walkway behind me and it was almost impossible to have a conversation due to the noise.
N. Mansfield
It was ok..we got a burger (can't go wrong with a burger) well it tasted like a frozen hamburger patty from the Walmart freezer.. which was NOT worth $14 bucks🙄 I will say the service was wonderful and they were very attentive the only thing that kind of bothered me was a certain photo that was in the restaurant. Next time I go I'll try out there drinks.
Ernest Brummett
Best cup of chowder I've had in a long time. Gumbo and etouffee are also great. My only complaint is no Crystal hot sauce :)
Kellye Gaddie
If you are planning a small to medium sized event, Selena's is the perfect place to host it! We recently held my Son and Daughter-in-law's wedding reception here and we could not have asked for a more perfect evening! Ray and his exceptional wait and kitchen staff were stellar! The food was delivered to the table hot, fast and perfectly prepared! Thank you to everyone involved in making our evening one to remember in the best possible way!
Tesha Mcguire
We ordered the shrimp and crawfish etouffee and it needed salt. Very bland. Also ate the fried green tomatoes and they were good, and the sauce that came with everything was food. Also ordered the shrimp po boy and it was ok. Again the sauces were great but to be Cajun the food could use a little more seasoning.
Julia Elliott
Our visit to Selena’s was perfect. April treated us amazing. The best thing was the food, hats off to Clayton Elliott for amazing tasting, innovative, hot food. The chef and staff deliver every time. We will recommend and definitely be back!!
Greg Moundine
Had an awesome time. My family and I had an excellent server. We were treated with dignity and respect. The stuffed shrimp was the best..I mean the best. My server was a children's preacher and an ex pro wrestler. So if you see a guy that look like a body builder, request him as a server. He was very respectful and kind. Try this place. A taste of New Orleans away from New Orleans.
Dan Kerr
Look at the outside Nd you would never guess this place has that good of food there. Nice portions and great taste. Bread pudding was huge. Definitely worth checking out. My wife's new favorite place.
Adam Bland
Great place to get some excellent food at an unexpected location. They have really good Creole dishes and my favorite jambalaya and po boys in Louisville. They have nightly specials that have always been above par as well. Great place for a special meal or for a group gathering.
Avril Robinson
Well then I guess the only thing I can say is that it was amazing. It was a recommendation by my brother and it did not disappoint. The Belgian Waffles had a very satisfying taste and the beignets were a reminder of visiting Louisiana as a child every summer.
Robert Maum
Excellent service and food. We had a wedding dinner rehearsal on April 12..and it was just an amazing experience. The two waiter/waitress were friendly..attentive and provided excellent service...the food was amazing...the ambiance was cozy and warm and it seems that everyone was enjoying their time..
David Hastings
I have passed this place from time to time, but have never thought to eat there. My wife found a Groupon and purchased it for us. I was very happy that she did. The food and service was excellent. We loved it and will be going back again.
Corey H
I really enjoyed my meal here. The food was really good and our waitress was really nice. We went during lunch hours and I thought their prices were really reasonable. I will definitely come here again.
Eva Robertson
What can I say...peach bellinis and beignets were the best. Brian was an excellent server and kept the drinks flowing. Definitely will be back...
larry twain
I went to Selena's today(Sunday) for brunch. I ordered the country ham breakfast . The country ham was exceptional as was the red eye gravy. The biscuits, while tasty were very heavy and extremely rich. I prefer a somewhat lighter biscuit with gravy but that may just be me. Overall 4 stars easy. It would be a five with a different biscuit. Also, the homemade beignets were awesome. I will be returning here for sure. The prices are great.
Samantha Stephenson
Not only is the food so so great but I (accidentally) ordered something I couldn't eat and they were so generous and accommodating and quick. It was service above and beyond. You can't go wrong from atmosphere to food. So appreciative and very pleased.
Curt Edwards
One of our new favorites the food is delicious and the atmosphere is outstanding in the garden. They gave the wife some fish food so she could feed the koi fish made her evening.
Murrell Kinkade
A bit pricey but you get what you pay for most of the time. Very good food. Great drink and beer selection. And topped off with good service.
Seth Husted
The food was good and the people were nice, but the prices are high. $21 for shrimp manale, no salad, no bread, just a bowl of pasta with some shrimp (with the tails still on, not a fan).
Sonia R
Atmosphere is great! We had a bunch of appetizers...the Chicken Diablo, Shrimp & Grits, and Oysters Selena. All were delicious. Then topped off with the warm Bread Pudding with Bourbon sauce... Amazing!!!
Angela Miller
Very, very nice !!! First time, but will go again. Staff was lovely, i love customer service, now days, counts a lot. Meet the owner and the food is fantastic! ! Nice outing and cozy place. Worth every bit of everything.
Amber S.
Food was delicious. I had the appetizer of the shrimp stuffed with a crab meat mixture then the entire thing breaded and fried, plus a side of the grits. If I ever come back to Louisville I would love to come back.
They're parking lot is a bit wonky. It's an "L" shape wrapping around the back. They have valet (a couple young guys in street clothes directing people around in the lot) and end up double parking people. Even though they parked us behind another car they didn't ask for our keys. We didn't have a problem getting to our car, but it the whole set up seemed a bit chaotic.
Ashley Reynolds
There aren’t enough words to describe how delicious our meals were! We went as a small group and tried the fried calamari, praline Brie, stuffed shrimp, dirty rice, asparagus, New Orleans medley and gumbo...everything came out perfect! We are looking forward to coming back again!
Tom Arnold
Great everything and everyone. Our 1st experience and won't be Our last. Had an awesome brunch and can't wait to have a great dinner!!!

I eat here every time I am in Louisville. The food and service is spectacular. I can and do recommend to others.
The food is a little pricey, but worth it; you’ll taste where that extra few bucks went.
This place makes me happy. :)
Shawn Vega Velez
Excellent food and drinks. Definitely worth visiting for brunch or dinner. The reason this isn't a 5 star rating is the waitress. She wasn't welcoming and seemed put of waiting on my party. Another server could be heard talking about bad tips.
RL SIEBEL
Pleasantly surprised. Went for brunch on Sundays. Note to self, self, make reservations next time. We were able to get seats at the bar. The food was yummy and the beignets were heavenly.
Teng Lor
Great place to eat. Great value and portions. Would and recommend this to others. Servers were great and friendly! We will definitely be back to do brunch!
Jared Ferko
Fantastic brunch, I highly recommend it. I ordered my omelet with cheese grits which were good but no where near as good as my girlfriends hash brown casserole.
Andrew Nelle
Food was decent, excellent service. Great location, very nice environment. My meal wasn't fantastic, that's the only reason why it's a 4/5. I do recommend this spot!😀👍 …
Sarah Reid
This is one of my favorite places to eat in the Louisville area. I love their brunch. The beignets are delicious! Dinner is great too. And the atmosphere in the restaurants is very cozy and warm.
Phillip Terrell
Here's the deal. Great atmosphere if sitting outside. Great looking menu (even considering the eclectic Creole/Italian menu). The problem is the food is very hit or miss. I so want to love this place but they just don't execute on all their menu items. Try: Shrimp Po boy. Avoid: Gumbo.
Charles Winters
I attended three company awards dinners there. Each time we had from 14 to 18 people. Our company keeps holding the awards dinner here every quarter because everyone absolutely loves it. I've had the fillet , a ribeye, and this time fish. All fantastic. I've never heard anything negative about Selena's.
Kathie Sauer
Had a wonderful meal and dining experience. Food was wonderful, service was excellent and atmosphere was relaxing. One of our favorite restaurants to celebrate special events or grab a drink and an appetizer.
Clark Absher
Great brunch spot and must get the beignets. I’ve never had a bad experience and food has always been very good. The reason for the 4 star instead of 5 is because the parking(or lack of) is a nightmare.
Matt Uhl
Great food, love the cajun fare and the seafood! Neat outdoor seating options when the weather is nice too! Limited parking when busy.
Frank Recalde
One of my favorite, if not my favorite, for brunch! I haven't been there outside of brunch hours but need to get over there abs try some of there other stuff. Can't beat $2.00 mimosas and $4.00 Bloody Marys!!!
Fanny Farmer
Food was good. Service, not so good.
Jonathan Hahn
Feels like a hit or miss thesedays as the food isn't always consistent (especially pasta) but I like the Cajun food here. Reasonably priced for quality food!
Theresa ford
I've been there twice in one week my server was Dale both times and he does a great job and we loved the place but the hollandaise could use a little tweaking
wayne young
Drinks, food and service were spot on. The parking situation not so much, came out to leave and cars were double parked plus heavy traffic in and out. Still the food is excellent and I will go back.
Jill Jones
Went from drinks. Beer selection is decent. I would not recommend the old fashioned, and I was a little disappointed that they don't have a cocktail list. They were able to make anything that we requested so that was nice. Also chicken parm is amazing (I havre had it before there). Highly recommended the food.
Donald Mosher
It's my Favorite Restaurant in Louisville
No Question. You can get Spanish food, or a burger, or Italian. They arent stuck on one ethnic food or the other, because they serve them all ☝️😎🤙 Also the family Vibe you get there is um matched, plus the food is as good as Ruth Chris, but the prices are more like outback you know? TRUST ME, AND GIVE IT A SHOT!
Irace Rivas
Friends recommended this place and I really like it but food didn't impress me. I really expected more flavor and better presentation on dishes. We did have a good time, staff was amazing.
Jennifer Gray
Wonderful atmosphere, pleasant service, and great food. I highly recommend getting a reservation for the weekend brunches. Our family has been coming here for special occasions and family get togethers for years. We've never been disappointed.
Angela Mitchell
Food was good...others at my table were more pleased than I was, but the service was terrible. Seems like just at our table though. Would I go back...probably not. Too many other good places in town.
Ashley Schnick
The food was all amazing and the bananas foster is incredible.
Keith Deavers
Best Saturday/Sunday Brunch in the East End if You get the "Bit of Everything" I get the Country Ham, Wife the one with Sausage. We get fruit instead of hashbrown casserole/ Cheesy Grits, comes with Biscuit and gravey , 2 eggs any style
James Cover
The noise level from larger parties makes conversation difficult. The food and service was excellent.
Angie Hutchinson
Love the shrimp and grits! A nice little getaway spot for dinner for something different! Great ambiance!
Scott Grant
Awesome fresh fish flown in from the gulf. Desserts are sinful, but ahhh. Alan was a great host. Looking forward to many more visits.
Patrick Shirley
This was a wonderful dining experience. The wine is overpriced but not the food. The food was reasonably priced and delicious. They have a lovely outdoor dining patio as well.
Dale Black
Very nice restaurant with very good dishes. Awesome atmosphere outside.
Ashley Gibbs
One of my favorite go to places whenever I’m in Louisville! I love the fried green tomatoes, shrimp, and my husband always gets a delicious steak! Great service and ambiance!
Amanda Mientus
Good atmosphere. Cajun that hits the spot if you're craving it. Big peppers. Famous crab rolls are delicious!
Scott Carter
Brunch was amazing! The eggs were perfect on my bene - see the pic. Everything was spot-on. The hashbrown casserole (was more potato than hashbrown) was perfectly seasoned. The French toast my wife had was perfect as well. We had a great meal in a wonderful atmosphere, and we will be coming back!
David Brewer
Place is noce. Think the interior is a little dark. In the summer, though great outdoor seating. Menu is a little limited, but what is on it they do very well. Always look at the specials especially the fish. Had a blackened Texas redfish, mmm.
Michele Hellstern
Great food, and fun staff! Nice, relaxing environment and the outdoor seating is fabulous! Plan to make reservations, as it's very busy, well worth the call ahead to get a table.
Michelle Zion
I had the French toast, it was amazing. In good form the manager stopped by to enquire about our vsist. The atmosphere is cozy and wait staff wonderful. I cannot wait to visit and try their gumbo or etoufee. Great location, wonderful menu and awesome staff. I will be back!!!
Sandra Hybner
Absolutely charming!! The service and food were amazing-best meal yet on our trip to Louisville while here from San Antonio.
Tj gritton
Food 10/10
The minus 1 star is due to the awful parking situation. It was a nightmare.
Madeleine Collins
Food was great, and plenty of it, service was also very good, staff was friendly.
I will go back again for sure
Dave Barker
Nice atmosphere, even though it's close to the road, it feels secluded. Really like the salad with blackened salmon.
P Ryan
Great food and nice atmosphere. This place has excellent servers and staff! Guinness is on tap at the bar! The menu doesn't change all that often, it would be nice if it did.
Graham Whatley
Gathering of friends for holidays. Met at Selena’s bar for 2nd year in a row. Some from nearby neighborhoods and others like us from slightly farther away. What a gem of a place! Good drink good crowd good appetizers.. this group has already said its happening again.
Sandy H
My very first visit impressed me. Absolutely GREAT food! Do yourself a favor and try the bread pudding. Heavenly! A wonderful change from the big chain restaurants. Overall experience was top notch.
Rita Dugan
Excellent food, excellent service. Ben was our server, he was fabulous. The oysters, slaw, gumbo, was out of this world good. Always a fabulous time at Sakena's.
Pat Gleeson
Food was great from the appetizers to the entrees. Great waiters both times I've been. Only minus would be the significant amount of flying bugs outside.
Heather Evans
Selena's is a great place to dine with family or friends. Very friendly and professional service and delicious food. Have been here 3 times now for special occassions and have never been disappointed. Keep up the good work Selenas.
Eric Paul Rogers

Stacey Richardson (Slr814)
The service was great and the food was fresh and delicious. I had the stuffed shrimp, my husband got fried oysters. Both were amazing and the portions are generous.
Jason Walters
Alan Salmon moved his restaurant up here from Tampa. It's an awesome experience to dine at Selena's. The staff is courteous insightful and knowledgeable. We've enjoyed Selena's ever since they converted the Willow Lake Tavern. Long live New Orleans in LA!
Eden Fischer
This place is always very nice to visit. The staff are kind and the food here is excellent! I've never had a bad experience here, and I've been going for a few months every few weeks with family. I would suggest it for anyone and everyone!
Bob Rettger
A great place to relax. Great Cajun food, service is always great. Very relaxed and informal atmosphere. When the weather is right, the outside patio area is perfect.
Evan Marker
Selena's is one of my favorites. I nearly always get a bowl or bigger bowl of gumbo, a side of pasta, and a side of red beans and rice. For less than $12 you are absolutely stuffed. It is some of my favorite gumbo, and I have been to NOLA many times. You really can't go wrong here.
Phineas Robinson
Food was delicious, however our waitress was terrible
Denise Jewell
Great service, awesome food. Shrimp bisque was delicious and they serve their bread with garlic butter (yummmm). Will definitely be back!
Noelle Raque
Great food and service! Decor is filled with dark wood and horses. Hot Spinach Salad is Awesome and makes you want to savor each bite!
Travis Connelly
The crab rolls were delicious. I had the one of the specialty cocktails and was unimpressed. My entree of pork tenderloin was cooked perfect and delicious.
Kathie Rouser
We had a great time Sat nite. The food was terrific. The service was a little confusing, but our waitress was on top of it when she realized what was going on. Thanks
jeff niss
New Orleans in Louisville! The gumbo has huge chunks of chicken and the flavor overall is so good! You won't be disappointed.
Lori Voils

Yummy wife on a diet and just got 2 eggs scrambled (no Bueno). Everything else was flawless
Stacy Waters
Brunch was wonderful. Great service! Hash browns and eggs Benedict were out of this world delicious!
Susan Shannon
Just picked up two fried catfish meals from Selenas. It’s the best I’ve ever had...really good with sweet potato fries and cole slaw. Thank you to all at Selena’s.
david fuchs
I have been countless times for lunch and dinner, a couple times for brunch and have never been disappointed. For lunch a gumbo and 1979 salad combo is unbeatable IMO.
Pat McGroyne
What a great place! Just discovered Selena's this week. Been looking for crawfish anything since my last go-to place for crawfish closed quite a while ago. Shared the shrimp and crawfish etouffe as a lunch appetizer and had the crawfish po boy for lunch. Both were great. I'll be back when they have the next crawfish boil. It was too hot to sit outside, but the outdoor patio is beautiful.
Mom Ellen
Yummy Jeremy's platter crab stuffed shrooms and desserts! Half price bottles of wine! Very tasty and good service!
Ronni Valle
Great brunch! Extremely affordable drinks, only $2 for a peach Bellini and $4 for a great creole bloody Mary! Lots of options and all were delicious.
Shari Morrison
Great service, delicious seafood!!! Had stuffed shrimp that was really tasty, very good cheese grits and the BEST cajun brandy bread pudding I've ever tasted!
Dustin Meadows
Had the Arctic Char and asparagus, I thought it was pretty good. First time being here since it was just the old tavern. Good food, good service, I'll return.
Jerusha Caple
Clam chowder is the best in Louisville!
Jerry Rice
Love Selena's patio dining. Spinach salad with grilled shrimp, warm bacon dressing is excellent.
David Elias
I wish this place was closer to Lexington. The food and the service are great, and prices are reasonable. Holy cow, you can stuff yourself with great Cajun food for not much money.
Paul Kilbourne
We were with a wedding party. Everything was perfect! The food was delicious and served hot.
Olivia Troehler
I had really high expectations but honestly it was just okay. I was expecting a lot of flavor and it was just kinda bland to be honest. But because nothing was bad I'm willing to give it another go sometime and hope it was just an off day in the kitchen.
Linda Russell
Food was good but our group was put in a room too small to accommodate the number of people. Noise level was high.
Sandra Gray
Awesome food and service!!
Charlie Johnson
Sat outside to enjoy the food, company, and atmosphere. Great place to come and unwind.
Rhonda Hahn
Visited Selena's this evening. Love this place! Great food, fun atmosphere and wonderful service. Christian and Mayla were great. Place was busy and they made it look easy.

They were inable to honor our reservation for outside and we were very unhappy with that. Our server was wonderful and made our visit very nice. Wish we could have eaten outside like we had planned.
Samantha
Staff was friendly, a little short staffed on a Tuesday for lunch so we had to wait a bit, but the wait was worth it. Food was great, and we will definitely be back again .
Danielle Ruffin
Great atmosphere & wonderful food.
Meghan Ziegler
The trains passing by and having to triple park couldn't even ruin such a perfect night at Selena's. The service was incredible, the food is out of this world, and the atmosphere is wonderful.
Fer Jackson
Probably best etouffee in Louisville, lovely views, haven't had a bad thing here yet! Also good chicory coffee. One of my favourites in this part of town

I had always heard about Selena's but never stopped in. Pleasant surprise. Food was delicious, atmosphere quaint and service was great. I hope to go back when I can sit outside.
Linda Fitts
Wonderful outside patio space, complete with pond and waterfall. Good food, Italian, salads and New Orleans style po boys, I had a cup of gumbo- delicious!
James Trihey
Food is always good. Tring to find something bad on the menu. Waitstaff is fun and enjoyable. They have a sense of humot.

Great spot to eat!!!!! Bit expensive, but worth it. Portions are big enough to take home leftovers (if you choose)! Great! More bang for my buck.
Scott Stewart
Excellent out of the way spot. Food was amazing and service top notch. Highly recommend
Sheldon Samuels
The staff was friendly and nice. The food was good and got.
James Bond
Food is great!!! Service is ok/doable. I suggest going when you can sit outside, when sitting inside it is so noisey (from the brick walls) you cannot hear the person sitting across from you without yelling....
Paula Szekely
Great service, atmosphere and food. Several lunch specials. Chicken Piccata and Fish&Chips are great lunch picks.
Namepolicy Isannoying
Great Creole food. Friendly service. Kindve out of the way, but worth it. Good po boys for lunch, as well as jambalaya for dinner. Spice level is just right and generous portions.
Marcus Whitesides
Lovely outdoor seating area with fish and natural shade from trees. Feels like your eating in a friend's or families backyard. Feels like home with better food.
Tracey McNeil
I had biscuits and gravy yum..
Tracy Harvill
Really nice with great outdoor seating area. Very tasty food. A little of the beaten path for most people just driving around, but it's worth a stop.

Jessica West
Service has always been great here. I've tried all if the seafood and New Orleans style entrees, all were delicious. And the Ribeye, delicious.
Donna CArroll
Good Cajun cuisine and the best deserts. But the beignets are the bomb. Love eating at Selena's

It's one of my "go to" places to sit and chat with a friend. They never rush you, or grab your plate as you're putting a forkful of food in your mouth. With fall coming l suggest a patio brunch.
Laurie Wilmes
