Reviews of ROC
Accidentally stumbled across ROC a few years back on our first date and it’s been such a special place for us ever since! The staff and food always make a lasting impression.
The last time we were there, I ordered pasta with Vodka sauce and my husband ordered the special (Venison Wellington). He still claims to this day that it is the best meal he’s ever had! We also ordered salads and dessert (sorry no pictures) and left feeling very satisfied. We can’t always afford to go whenever we want, but each experience is one to remember!
The staff was amazing and graciously accommodated us after we were unhappy with our original table. The food was amazing and the ambiance was really nice. Skippy was one of the best waiters I've had. Will definitely return!
Italy in Louisville. Rocco, the owner brings the best of Italy and NYC to town. He accommodated our requests, personally served us, and gave us one of the best meals in my life. Thanks, Rocco!! (the 5yr man).
Amazing experience.
Went for a date night with my boyfriend and I’m already begging him to take me back. We both had never been to ROC before. The entire experience was a 12/10 for both of us. Our server was elegant, respectful, knowledgeable, and attentive. He was one of (if not) the best servers I’ve ever had the pleasure of dining with. The food was the best Italian food I’ve ever had no question. The only time we were at all bummed was when we realized we were way too full for dessert. Lol. But seriously if you like Italian food and great service you can’t find a better place in Louisville.
Authentic Italian in a chic and modern atmosphere. Will be returning and highly recommend!
My wife, daughter(toddler) and I went here for my birthday. The food was fantastic as usual. The service at Roc is top notch - probably in my top 1 or 2 of dining experiences. The staff is very welcoming and friendly and even catered to my daughter. One of my favorite places to eat in Louisville!
I love ROC! We have never had a bad experience here.
Tonight we brought some friends who were visiting from Nashville. We started the evening with some delicious cocktails, both the Paper Plane and the Old Fashioned.
For starters we had the Buratta and the Beef Carpaccio. They had a special that added freshly shaved black truffles to the carpaccio. The truffles we presented in a wonderful glass jar and shaved tableside. Great presentation that I forgot to take a picture of!
For mains we had the Gnocchi, Pappardelle shrimp with a pistachio sauce and a special Pappardelle with a mushroom sauce topped with Buratta. Incredible house made pastas.
The meals were portioned perfectly, everything was hot and fresh and the service was impeccable.
I have been to ROC on several occasions. I have brought my wife for a romantic dinner and recently I brought a group of friends for their first time to experience this wonderful place. The food and service are both excellent an unparalleled. There are several Italian restaurants in Louisville but none can't hold a candle to this place. The bar is very well-stocked and the bartenders are well-versed in making the best drinks that you can find. The owner is usually on hand to greet you and it is obvious from the moment you walk into the door that the staff really wants to give you the best dining experience that they possibly can. I highly recommend ROC restaurant and I'm sure you won't be disappointed if you try it out.
We went for my birthday dinner. The service was amazing and the food was excellent.
It was my first visit to the restaurant. It has a cozy and a relaxing atmosphere. It is in the heart of highlands. The parking can be found within short distance.
A good selection of wine with a wide price range.
There were total of 4 of us.
For appetizers, we ordered the octopus, prosciutto wrapped dates and calamari.
Octopus: I would not recommend it.
Dates: yummy.
Calamari: at first look, it looked like fried spiraled zucchini was served. It was ok.
For dinner, a prosciutto panini, chicken milanese, pork loin parmigana and NY strip.
Panini: hearty portion, served hot pressed with the truffle fries. My friend asked for a box.
Milanese: served with arugula salad. Asked for a box.
Pork loin: hearty portion. My friend was pleased with the preparation.
NY strip: I would not order it. So much of mushroom sauce of poured that it took away from the strip. The steak was not flavourful. Definitely not worth the money and it was one of the special for the night.
I did not want mashed potatoes as a side for the strip and I was told that I will have to pay for the item I wanted instead. $12 for spinach.
If you ask to substitute the side item, you will have to pay for it.
I ordered the chocolate torta for dessert and would not recommend it. I don't like to have almost thawed piece of cake for dessert.
The penna cotta was well liked.
Bottom line: not everything is worth the pric this restaurant demands and to pay for to sub a side item definitely is not appreciated.
Before tip, 2 bottles of wine among 4 adults, the total was $550.
Authentic, Italian food. ROC delivers an all-around delightful evening. Fanatic wine list to pair with exquisite food experience. We started with the burrata and it was delicious. For my entree I ordered the lasagna, which possibly is the best I’ve ever eaten. It was their special as they don’t always have it on the menu. But when they do it’s worth making a reservation!
Everything is amazing but the Beef Carpaccio with Truffle is ridiculous...chef comes to table and the truffle is shaved to cover every bite...the gnocchi is delicious...so fluffy and light...also one of the best Proseccos I've tasted too...Bravo Chef! 5☆
Best Italian restaurant and most authentic in Louisville. Don’t forget to go on Tuesday and get the Cacio e Pepe.
Yes!!
My visit; Friday night 6pm. I was solo and decided to sit at the bar.
When one dines at the bar the experience is and should be different. I ordered a negroni with mescal the bartender crafted my drink to perfection.
On the other hand she wasn't feeling well, so that limited our interaction. I am removing a star because it was clear she wasn't feeling well not only because she verbally expressed it to me.
The food;
I started with the burratta fresca; tutto posto!!
Afterward I enjoyed the penne alle vodka paired with a glass of Montepulciano, once again tutto posto. My only feedback for the penne was hoping that the sauce had a bolder flavor something that screamed “ROC”
Simply the best wine list in the city, Old world wines that anyone will truly love with a great steak to go with it and amazing service. The cocktails are very generous portions and served with perfect flair. Every floor and corner is a unique experience . I also enjoyed the owner conversation and time he gave us at our table thanks again and we will be back soon.
Highlights: bolognese was an incredible traditional dish and kale tagliatelle was the winner for most different and flavorful (+ the bourbon makes it very Louisville)
We went to ROC for my birthday. Atmosphere was amazing, service was great. The waiter gave great tips about the menu and the food was incredible.
Place is excellent. Tiramisu was moist which is rare for restaurant tiramisu. Salmon was cooked well, appetizers were great. Recommend!
Really cute homey joint with perfect mood lighting. Drinks are made perfectly with the perfect mix of flavor and alcohol. The food is absolutely amazing and fantastic portion sizes. The salmon was flakey and juice and the skin was perfectly crispy. We came here for mother's day and I would have to say it was a great pick made by my boyfriend.
Strawberry panna cotta to die for!!
Tiramisu... another hit!! Awesome presentation
Cavatelli and bolognese fettuccine
Grapa grapa grapa... sheers!! Salud..
All all was cook to perfection
Rocco makes his restaurant so special. Warmth, love and family are ingredients found in every dish.
This is based on our first visit on a Saturday night. We compared the food and value here to similar dishes we have tried in other cities and restaurants.
We noticed Italians in the restaurant so thought it must be legit.
Food: 4/5
Our waiter informed us all sauces and pasta are made in house to order, so it's preferred to order starters and the meal at once so the chefs can get the sauce started. I can appreciate in house pasta and sauces!
We got the salmon carpaccio, yellowtail special, veal scaloppine with spinach, fettuccine bolognese/ meat sauce, clams and linguine.
Salmon carpaccio was tasty! We both liked it, pretty fresh.
Yellowtail special- tasty as well. Good starters so far.
Veal scaloppine- veal was delicious. Spinach is just spinach.
Fettuccine bolognese- pasta was al dente, could definitely taste the difference. Sauce was meaty. I felt it was still pricey for $20.
Linguine and clams- our biggest disappointment. Almost wish we didn't order it since the other dishes were pretty good. It was bland, and we basically ate the clams and tomato. Maybe I just don't understand a fine olive oil dish. But this is my review/opinion.
Price/ Value: 3/5
We expected more for the price. Portions are fine, depending on your appetite, you may take home leftovers. Higher prices can be justified by the in house labor and overall quality of food and experience.
Service: 5/5
Our server Patrick was helpful and attentive. Our glasses were always filled. Everyone helps each other. You may even get to speak with the manager/owner (funny and charming, definitely Italian)
Ambiance: 3.5/5
Pretty casual. There's a bar area, indoor and outdoor seating. It is a tight space. You may unwittingly eavesdrop on the tables around you or bump something.
Overall: 3.75/5 (will round up to a 4)
Pretty good experience overall, though we won't be in a hurry to return. Worth a try or for a date night.
Anniversary Date - Great experience
My fiancé and I came here last night for our anniversary and we were not disappointed!
We’d come before once on our first date two years ago on whim because another restaurant was too busy, so we decided to come back again for the sentiment value.
The server was great, he was friendly and had great recommendations along the way. It seemed like our water glasses never reached empty before a refill had already happened.
Atmosphere was also good, a little small but I loved the lighting and the restaurant wasn’t crowded on a Sunday night so it wasn’t a problem at all.
Finally, the food was fantastic!
We both ordered salads - she ordered the quinoa salad and I order the balsamic & arugula, they were both great and timely.
For entree she ordered the pasta with vodka sauce and vegetables (her favorite) and I decided order one of the specials which was a venison puff pastry with mashed potatoes in red-wine sauce with cranberries. She enjoyed her pasta for sure, but my special was easily the best tasting meal I’ve had all year! The venison was as tender as filet mignon and the sauce with the cranberries was delicious and complimented the mashed potatoes somehow perfectly.
Lastly we both ordered desserts and I got a coffee as well; she ordered the Italian pudding with stracciatella ice cream and I ordered a piece of chocolate cake. The cake was pretty good, and the coffee was amazing, and the pudding/ice cream dessert was our favorite.
Went with a group of 4. I'd rate the food 2.5-4. A bit inconsistent but two dishes were very good and two dishes were very bland and relied on salt and truffle too much. Good cocktails. Atmosphere is good. I love the room. BUT the service was terrible. That can really ruin a good meal. Waited long for drinks, he forgot orders, didn't know the menu seemingly at all - (Question - is your sausage made in-house? Answer: "Um, uh, I don't think so." Didn't even bother to go ask. And that's something you just really know at an Italian restaurant.) Seems like a good restaurant that is being brought down by staff or high turnover (maybe the guy was new, but our neighbors said last time they were there it was bad service too). I wanted to love it more than I did. The service was so sub-par, it will probably keep us from coming back. And that makes me sad because I really wanted it to be a gem down the street from our house. I hope the owner/manager sees this and really thinks about his hiring and training practices.
Ate here tonight, and was a great night to eat outside and enjoy the Bardstown Road atmosphere. The food is a nice mixture of modern Italian cuisine and all four of us enjoyed our mains and the desserts were excellent. Why three stars? The gentleman that I assume was the owner talked up most all of the other tables but never came over to us. I saw him both outside and inside chatting to customers. Especially what appeared to be regulars, but never a word to us. Very disappointing.
The food was delicious. Our waiter took great care of us, even showing us the private rooms upstairs and introducing us to the owner/chef who showed us their huge modern and clean kitchen.
Amazing food!! The restaurant is really quaint in a perfect place for a date night or you can get one of the bigger rooms upstairs for a larger party.
Loved the atmosphere, service was slow but we were a party of 9. The Tiramisu was my favorite, I would go back for that alone it was so excellent.
Amazing food all around. The wine and spirits lists was fantastic and the family that owns it are spectacular. Pasta is truly impossible to beat.
The Cacio e Pepe made at the table (Tuesday only) was worth every dollar spent. Service was spectacular.
Great welcoming atmosphere with real New Yorkers! We miss the East coast so much but knowing we can go visit Rocco and his lovely wife makes us a little less homesick, and the food is fantastic!
The best service I’ve ever had in Louisville. The server knew exactly what wine to pair with our food. Food was absolutely amazing. We had the octopus as an appetizer and the squid ink pasta and John Dory special. Both were incredible. We finished with the tiramisu and limoncello, the tiramisu was lighter than most which made it even more enjoyable. We will definitely be back.
My wife and I were with a party of 12 on Thurby. The restaurant owner and staff was very polite and accommodating. The food was amazing! The presentation was amazing. A very lovely quaint place. Will visit again and again.
Excellent service, atmosphere and food. My husband and I had the best time.
Atmosphere is as delightful as the authentic menu. Staff was prepared and courteous, the owner was cooking and interacting with everyone. Get the tiramisu - you won't be disappointed!!
Married to a chef - I know my food. I grew up outside NYC and this food had me thinking that I had been transported there. Excellent service - attentive but not annoying. Every bite of the food was outstanding!
A great Italian restaurant ran by real Italians from Italy, what could be better? The food is fantastic and it is an experience. Pay no mind to those that gave this place less than five stars. Having been to Italy multiple times, this is the most authentic Italian food and wine but moreover true Italian restaurant experience you will ever find in Louisville, Kentucky.
Wonderful dining experience. Great food and excellent staff. We will definitely be back.
I've lived in Louisville my whole like and only now discovered ROC, and I was far from disappointed!
Quickly greeted by our waitress, she told us the specials of the day. While I typically stray away from a restaurant's special, I decided to try it. The antipasti (appetizer) Swordfish Carpaccio was savory and well worth the step out of my comfort box. For drinks my date and I ordered a Negroni and thr Lady Roc, both were solid.
For our main course, I had the Kale Tagliatelle and she had the Linguine Alla Vangole. Both tasted fresh and unlike some other Italian restaurants I've had in the city.
For desert we split an Affogato al caffe, which was rsther light and savory for the type of dessert it was. Our service was impeccable and I was highly surprised and content with my overall experience, we weren't rushed though we did come later than I would have liked. The staff was also quite friendly and welcoming. We will be returning!
Had dinner with 5 friends for a Bday. They sat us a table in a small room of our own. That was nice! Our waiter was Italian, did a fantastic job. The entire staff was on their game. I had the cod special, which was delicious. Meal and two beers + desert drink was $75 before tip.
I went to ROC last night and it was amazing. We had the calamari and chicken with mushroom. After eating two donuts earlier in the day I tried to avoid desert however when I saw some go to another table I ordered it to go! The bar is beautiful and really makes the place a stunning destination.
Great ambiance, friendly staff, food was excellent and prices fair!
One of the best Italian places in Louisville. Authentic and great service. I got the Frutti di Mare and it was fantastic! The owner of the place has a lot of energy and creates a wonderful ambience.
I highly recommend this place to anyone!
I love this place, I eat here nearly every chance I get. I absolutely must have the eggplant parmesan every single time, some times two...it's that good. As for entrees, I typically get the cavatelli with sausage and broccoli rabe or the Bolognese. They also have a special on Tuesdays that involves a tableside preparation inside a cheesewheel, and it's worth ordering if only for the presentation. Lastly, I'm a bit of a dessert guy, and the tiramisu is exquisite. If you've never before dined at Roc and you enjoy Italian cuisine, you're doing your self a disservice. Go eat there already!
I had a bit of a family reunion and we chose ROC to have dinner. No one in our group had ever been. So glad that we took a chance!! This place is so beautiful and we got a perfect table. The owner was so personable and friendly. We honestly didn’t understand a lot of the menu and he did not bat an eye at us butchering his beautiful language. We all had a good laugh. The food was delicious! Everybody loved their meal! It was a perfect night! I highly recommend if you are looking for good food, ambiance and personal attention. A very memorable evening.
Amazing atmosphere and food. The pace of the food was perfect and our waitress knew the menu and pairings for drinks very well. The owner is friendly and speaks with the guests. We got 3 entrees, and appetizer and a dessert and they helped us pace our meal well.
Loved it! A must try if you love fresh Italian food.
My wife and I loved the restaurant. The food was fantastic and service was awesome. The only thing I wish was different was having a larger portion for the truffle Mac and cheese. I got truffle Mac and cheese dish. It was fantastic but wish it was larger portion. If truffle is expensive then maybe think about substituting truffle with something else. My wife loved the food. We also got calamari and fried zucchini appetizer and it was awesome. Thank you for such a great experience. The staff and owner were very nice and so knowledgeable about the food and drinks at restaurant.
Came here for a girls' dinner out. What an amazing experience. The food was so tasty, the cocktails divine, and... the Tiramisu was truly the best I've had (and that includes the delicacies in Italy!). The service was top notch. Rocco, the owner, was an absolute pleasure to meet. And if that wasn't enough... the ambiance and decor was extra special.
This definitely merits a repeat performance. Next time the hubby will have to come along!
Wow!! Dinner last night was incredible!! Service, specials, and food quality absolutely over the top! I’d easily give it more than 5 stars! Great recipes! Awesome! All staff wearing masks and constantly keeping things clean. Owner was very pleasant and gave details about specials and family living in Sorrento,
Can’t wait to eat there again!
I brought my girlfriend here for a date night and it was both our first time trying out Roc. Let me tell you, the food and the service was unbelievable! The server was so nice and the manager was very personable. We have already planned to come back soon because we enjoyed ourselves so much. Highly highly highly recommend eating here.
Eventhough the food was cooked well, the staff was great and we appreciate the authentic cuisine, our food needed more seasoning. Our expectations were set high from the recommendations. It ended up being a little too bland for our tastebuds. Although, I would recommend getting a dish with the primadora sauce that I enjoyed on the side.
First visit to ROC tonight with my wife. Incredible food to go along with an incredible experience. Highlight of the evening was watching Chef Rocco prepare the Tuesday night Cacio e Pepe (spelling?) tableside. Chef Rocco is just so personable. Highly recommend ROC and we will be back often.
The food was great, and the service exemplary. Definitely going back again.
Great Italian food! The prosciutto and mozzarella was superb but the fettuccine and truffles was out of this world! The desserts topped it off. We will be back!!!
I had such an amazing experience last night for my birthday. I love the euro-cafe style of the restaurant. On top of the great space and ambiance, we had great service - the best I've had in quite some time, especially in Louisville - and the food was perfection. I had the special that night, linguine and truffle. I can't wait to go back for more!
Took the boyfriend there for a birthday dinner, our server was fabulous. He spent a lot of time chatting with us and explaining how one could order if we wanted to split entrees in an attempt to try more things. The chef had just come back from New York and had brought black truffle back with him. We added it to an appetizer and it was fabulous. There were only a few other guests in the restaurant but the atmosphere was great.
Last minute takeout, 15 minutes before closing (we don’t like to do that to any restaurant/workers), but they took our order and it was ready in 10. We ordered Gnocchi and the veggie penne vodka sauce. I love the flavor of their sauce! It was delicious.
Fine Italian style cuisine and phenomenal service. The hostess is a very delightful and informative individual. The bartender's cocktails were stellar. I highly recommend coming here for a nice evening meal. A definite must for eating experience.
The food was delicious! We each got specials and both were wonderful. Our server Chris was great as well. Intimate atmosphere, good bourbon and wine selection too. Cool Bardstown road spot!
Tremendous service and outstanding food! We made reservations and were placed in our own room which was very cozy. We had a variety of excellent dishes. Do not forget desert! The little cannolis are delicious!
Roc the restaurant, wait @ the bar & have a libation. You are getting you ready for a great time & great food. Roc the restaurateur is so much fun and made our party of 4 feel so welcome, Thank You. The entire experience from front door service to dessert was the best. You are family here no matter where you are from. We will be back & return often to enjoy this Gem on Bardstown Road. ENJOY !!!
Elevated Italian fare made with an impeccable attention to detail and complex flavor profiles. Expect outstanding service and a discussion of wines and pairing suggestions if you're interested in that kind of thing. Otherwise, you can't go wrong because everything we tried was excellent. Plus they offer an incredible selection of bourbons displayed as a beautiful backdrop to the main bar. It is small, so I suggest reservations, but we sat at the bar and had a great time talking to the very knowledgeable bartenders.
Everything was delicious! It's on the upscale side - we were probably a little underdressed in jeans even for an early weekday dinner. We took our 8 year old who loved it, but in general I would say it's not for young children. Service was great. It's not your typical rushed American dining experience - dinner took about an hour and half with an appetizer and mains, no salads or dessert. Plan ahead to have time to really enjoy!
Good food really good service. Desserts were the best part!
My fiancé proposed to me at ROC. Not only was this my favorite Italian restaurant prior to but now it’s also a memorable place for my family and I. Rocco, his family and staff are amazing. Their service is always top notch. Food tastes good and quality to match. Wine list exquisite. This place will always be on my list
Delicious doesn't begin to describe the food here! We went with some friends of ours and my 9 year old. Everybody loved their meal. My son loved it so much he said this is now our default Italian restaurant. That's love from a family who lives in Taylorsville. We will be back and try more of the menu!
We enjoyed a great bottle of chianti and shared the grilled octopus as an appetizer. We ordered the table side cacio e pepe and was not disappointed. The service was wonderful and the food was impeccable. I'll definitely be back for more!
Amazing atmosphere, chef was amazing and the food was great, definitely going to go back!! Everyone working there was friendly and the way they present their restaurant defintely sets this place out for a long time success! Highly reccomend to friends and family!
The food was amazing, had a truffle pasta special while I was there that was amazing! The wait staff was extremely helpful and made for a wonderful experience.
Owned & operated by true Italians who make their own fresh buffalo mozzarella, noddles, and pretty much everything else from scratch. Food was UNBELIEVABLE & service was excellent. 3 days later & I'm craving their food! Went for a birthday dinner & everyone ordered something different...so we got to taste just about everything on their menu. Not a single dish was just so-so! Everything was fresh & incredible. I could go on & on, but stop reading my review & go...like immediately!!!! Oh! Do yourself a favor & order the tiramisu & Italian cookies. They're out of this world!!!
The food, service and ambiance was top notch! Tuesday is the day for the pasta cheese wheel. I mean pasta, al dente, and cheese! What could be better? 3 of us ordered the cheese wheel pasta and 3 ordered other dishes. I have to say everyone was jealous of our cheese wheel pasta. But, they loved their salmon, bolognese and pumpkin soup! The staff is super knowledgeable about their menu and pairing soups, salads, wine, beer and entrees, so ask!
Our experience at ROC never disappoints! Friendly service, expertly crafted cocktails and countless delicious food options. We hosted my husband's birthday dinner in one of the private dining alcoves upstairs and it was so fun! We can't wait to go back.
Exquisite Italian food, extraordinary service and hospitality. Best Italian food in the area. Especially if you share Italian heritage, you'll feel right at home. Can't recommend enough!
ROC provides an authentic Italian bistro environment with an intimate feeling. Beware of large parties, they are very loud and tend to overwhelm the charm of this resturant. The food is exquisite. A reasonable list of good wines by the glass and an extensive list of wine by the bottle. The bar also maintains a wide bourbon selection. The menu is truly Italian, presented as you would see in Italy. The menu was extensive, offering a full course selection and many small plates. We started with a crusty bread baked on the premises and a small plate of focaccia topped with an amazing vegetable ragu. A salad of greens, apples, and gorgonzola while not special, was tasty. Main courses where both pastas, truffled mac & cheese and sausage with pasta and rafe. Both were excellent and well presented. Really a great food experience in Louisville.$$$
Excellent, authentic, well-prepared Italian food like no other in Louisville today. House prepared pasta highlighted my meal (crab linguini) along with the fettuccine bolognese my 9yr old son devoured. Atmosphere and ambiance in the restaurant was perfect. Will put this on the top of list for our next Italian meal.
Authentic Italian food and service in a beautiful modern restaurant. The wait staff was excellent as was the food and atmosphere. We ate on the lovely verandah which looks over the patio and Bardstown road. Though the food was delicious, I would love it if the presentation of food was equally delicious. This place is wonderful and I think it has great potential. The carpaccio was excellent!
Rocco and his team make your dining experience unforgettable! I have been coming here for several years and will continue to do so because of Rocco! The food, wine and atmosphere are simply phenomenal!
Had a blast at ROC having lunch with my girlfriends. The food was wonderful, the atmosphere is comfortable and edgy and Rocco had us giggling with his sly humor from start to finish. Don’t miss the homemade tiramisu. It is to die for. We will be returning often!
Excellent Italian cuisine, one of my favorite go to's. The ambiance is nice, staff is friendly and the cacio e pepe is quite the show. I highly recommend trying to get a sun room seat at dusk for a street view. I recently ordered the curbside Cacio e pepe with the burrata fresca, very good!
excellent food, best Italian in Louisville because it's the real deal including the bread. A bit pricey and a little noisey that's the only draw back. If you think you know good Italian food go here and experience the real thing and it will change what you think you know. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 …
Great space, excellent drinks and very good service. Two times here since it opened and the food is hit or miss. Flavorless calamari one time with an un remarkable entree. Excellent salad with nearly flavorless (no garlic) clams and linguini recently. Based on being told by a food runner (when I requested cheese for my linguini) that "our chef doesn't recommend cheese with sea food but I'll check back after you have tried your food" and never checking back...I will not be going back.
Went to Roc for the first time with my husband, and it was incredible! The atmosphere is intimate and sophisticated, and the food was amazing, and the service was impeccable (our server was a lovely young man named Patrick, and believe me I'll be requesting him everytime we come back)! Everything was absolutely delicious, but I particularly have to mention their cheese cake, made with ricotta cheese. It is hands down the best cheese cake I've ever had, and I've had a lot lol. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. You won't be disappointed.
Tuesday night special is out of this world if you like pasta. I always like octopus and order it when I see it on the menu and this was some of the best. The carpaccio di manzo with shaved truffles is a must do. It's all good!
By far the best Italian in Louisville!!!! Chef Rocco is amazing, staff is amazing and even the hostess is amazing!!
Wow. The tiramisu! We have dined here multiple times and always had a great experience. Would recommend to anyone. Anyone who doesn’t like this place should just cook themselves a can of ravioli at home. Seriously ROC exceeds expectations every time. I always read all the reviews and I laughed when I read the negative reviews on this place. If you have a bad night at ROC it’s on you. We will be going back and taking friends with us.
Very good Italian restaurant. I'd never really noticed it before, but it's a very clean place and attention to detail is evident. Food was delicious. Service was good. Good dining experience all the way around.
Service was outstanding. Our waiter was very attentive "Skip". Create a fun environment for a larger party.
Beef carpaccio was absolutely beautiful. Veal scallopene was rich and robust. Boulevardie cocktail was very good but the Nutty Italian I had for dessert was a knockout. They topped the evening with their house made limoncello. This place is fantastic for a serious date night. I took myself out for my birthday. Bring around 200 or more for two, especially if you are indulgent. Jon Franco emits a wonderful and welcoming aura. The music is usually loud, but who cares? This place could be a total hole in the wall and I'd go back. It's definitely high end, but doesn't try to be too pretentious. No one was rude. Incredible night. Incredible service. Will definitely go again.
Great food in a quaint atmosphere. They have a solid bourbon selection as well. Service was excellent.
This was the best Italian food I have ever eaten. Chicago, New York, or Louisville, it doesn't matter. You can only get Italian food this good from heading to Sunday dinner at a table serving one of those recipes passed down from the old country. Interestingly enough, Rocco and his partners have a whole book of these recipes, and you get to pick them off a menu!
Give Roc a chance and make your own decision, but I can't imagine a better place for a great night out on the town with food that's hard to forget!
Best place on bardstown road for an amazing culinary experience.
Went with a large group of people and the food was fantastic. Somewhat small portions but very good! We tried a little bit of everything on the menu and not one thing did I dislike.
This might be the best restaurant in Louisville. Our go to date night place in town. The owner used to have the same restaurant in Tribeca in NYC. Needless to say, it's authentic italian. About as real as it gets. Family recipes dating back to Sicily.
I don’t really care for the pasta, I had some ravioli and it was.... beyond chewy. This is a “don’t you dare ask the chef to make changes to the recipe place”. The cured meat is the best I’ve had in the city. The gazpacho is AMAZING.
Enjoyed our visit this afternoon for wine and snacks. Gianfranco was delightful! Very gracious and welcoming staff. Wine and cocktail list had just what we wanted. Looking forward to more visits to explore more of the menu.
Very good service. Food is very good. A little pricey on drinks but not on food. A lot of attention for service. Our waiter was very timely at checking up on us and making sure he described the specials thoroughly.
Wonderful dining experience. Great food and exceptional service. Thoroughly recommended for casual dining or a special night out.
Food and service were excellent. Wife and I agree it's the best dinner we have had in years. We plan to be back often!
Absolutely love ROC! The atmosphere is inviting, and the patio outside is perfect for enjoying the weather and people watching on Bardstown Road. :) but the best part is the food. Highly recommend the caprese salad which comes with a large portion of mozzarella, the polpi dish which essentially melts in your mouth, and the sausage cavatelli which is just pure goodness. The owner is also very lively, welcoming, and involved, and makes every experience a memorable one.
My family and I were unfamiliar with the area and were looking to try something new. We looked up Italian options and arrived at ROC and realized we messed up. We normally don't go to nicer places because we're usually traveling with young children. I was pleasantly surprised by the staff of ROC going out of their way to make sure we were taken care of despite being out of place. My family all enjoyed their meals and I hope to come back at some point in the future now that I know it's a more upscale restaurant than what we were looking for that night. I personally didn't enjoy my meal (the Ravioli Di Ricotta was a little too bitter for me) but 4 other adults and 2 young boys enjoyed their meals (Petto di Pollo, Parmigiana Sliders, Tagliatelle Di Cavolo, and a plain off-menu penne with red sauce pasta for the boys) and ROC definitely deserves credit for that.
Whether you have a large or a small group this place is a perfect. The location is only beat out by food. I would love to tell you what you have to try here, but everything is so wonderful you can't go wrong no matter what you get.
It was awesome. Service was great. Food was delicious!! Especially the octopus 🤗 and my husband's fettuccine with truffles👍. …
Ms. D. And her trainee were awesome behind the bar demonstrating fluency, personality, and professionalism. First day out of quarantine we were welcomed with smiling eyes and a warm welcome. It was comforting to see all the p.p.e. in use. My self and my significant felt at peace given the circumstances.
We started off with an espresso martini and apperol sprints before moving off to the roc's boulevardier (Perfect balance/ratio) and wine. The tricolor salad, calamari anti-pasti, boglenese (very bright traditional-esque) and fettuccini pistachio pappardelle (providing a very creamy and comfort feel with a seafood essence) finishing off with the Scottish salmon secondi (loved the cook temp and mustard sause.) Set us on a journey that was well recived after 2 months of staying in. We can't wait to be back.
Class establishment. Had a chat with the owner, realized I had dined at his place in TriBeCa before relocating back here to KY, and happily got my to-go food with a bottle of wine…highly recommend 🤙🏾 …
Great food but the overall athmosphere just doesn't feel that well put together. Mostly staff issues, polite but somewhat untrained in some technical areas expected at this type of resturaunt.
The food I ordered was delicious, but what made it great was the service. Always asking if we need anything, and filling our drinks, friendly people, will go back.
Absolutely, positively incredible in every single way. Having eaten in what I would call a hidden highlands Gem 5 times now, I can say with some authority that this is one of the most criminally UNDERRATED eateries in the city of Louisville.
It might be the double aperol spritz and the lemonchella talking but I was emotionally moved by the food experience I just had.
The fettuccini currently digesting in my stomach was made with love and attention this very morning and the cannoli that joined the espresso in my mouth might just be better than intercourse. Don’t miss out.
Outstanding. Theres nothing else I can add.
Service, atmosphere, bar, wine, apps, dinner.
Everything is amazing.
I usually walk in looking homeless and order a few glasses of chardonnay, the caprese salad, a carpaccio, and the linguini with clams.
My tab is never more than $70. $100 including tip.
An amazing treat, indeed.
The service was unparalleled. The ravioli was delicious, but too rich for the portion size and slightly over cooked and rubbery. That said, I will definitely return, if only for the service.
I don't usually give 5 stars, but everything was good. We read other reviews about bad service and such, but for us that was not the case. Almost felt like we were family there. Highly recommend, and would will go back.
Great service and food. Never had any troubles and the staff is amazing. Highly recommend! A truly authentic Italian cuisine.
I dont understand why this place was empty around brunch time. It was delicious! The service was very good and everything we ordered was executed perfectly. Definitely a most visit while in Louisville
Fantastic food- authentic and fresh! Large wine and bourbon selection. Incredible attentive staff. We will be back.
Home owned by a bonafide Italian who relocated from NYC to Louisville.
Nice ambience, good food, service can be spotty and sometimes they can miss on preparation of a dish.
Wait staff not great but venue beautiful and homemade pasta was delicious.
The food, the service, and the atmosphere was fabulous. I can't wait for my next visit to sample another mouth watering dish.
This place roc. Five star service. Food Authentic. Feel like in Italy. Must must try Affogato with expresso.Try Mac and cheese awesome.
Michelin rated staff in Louisville
Food was amazing! Staff was great. If you're here for only one night, you'll do yourself an injustice if this doesn't make it in your plans!
Flavors reveal top qualities ingredients and the hospitality and passion for service makes one feel a little closer to the Mediterranean:)
Wonderful, authentic Italian food in a cozy atmosphere. Moderate to high pricing, but well worth the price. Great service.
Wonderful service, robust menu offerings, and the food and wine I had were top notch. The bartender and service from Frocco and Lisa were exceptional.
Great service and delicious menu items. Comfortable atmosphere and attention to detail. Awesome cocktail list and interesting and plentiful wine lists as well.

Always outstanding fresh food
Service was not great. We were there over an hour and 30 minutes before the food was served.
Most food was good but there were a couple of complaints.
Food was ok but we waited 40 minutes for our cocktails 😩 …
I'm from NY and the owner (also from) does an amazing job recreating the classic Italian dishes I grew up with.

Food was amazing. Service was pretty terrible. No one knew who was in charge. Hopefully those issues will be worked out after being open for a bit.
Good atmosphere, good food.
Best Italian in the city. The family is amazing. The atmosphere is tops !
Amazing food and Service. Roc and Stacey have a beautiful place and a great staff.
Decent pasta. The music was so loud you had to shout your order. Conversation was near to impossible over the music.
Really great food and wine! Loved the home made pasta and truffles!
Amazing food, ambience, service and cocktails! Wondering why they don’t have 5 stars!
Excellent from apps to finish. Tuesday special is memorable. Make it a must on dining list!

Authentic Italian cuisine, classy environment, music too loud for dining room.
