A long-time Louisville resident told me this was his favorite restaurant. Now I know why. Great caprisi salad. Even better calamari. Also, the place has a great vibe and excellent servers. FYI, photos were taken after I had already consumed a portion of the item. My bad.

Porcini’s is FANTASTIC!! Hands down one of the best steaks I’ve had! The surf and turf special was incredible but I’d recommend other items on the menu too. All the deserts are delicious, I really like the tiramisu! Ask for Morgan as your server. She provides fantastic service, an unforgettable experience and is just personable and fun! We will definitely be back again!

The filet with gnocchi was amazing. The gnocchi was like little pillows. The steak was super tender and the butter took it over the top. Highly recommend this place for a delicious dinner.

As always the food, ambiance and service here is amazing! We got take out on NYE because we were staying in and the food was just as good as if we dined in. Everything was packaged very well and service at the bar was prompt. This is a Louisville staple and we are so lucky to have it just down the street from us!

Loved it. Food was excellent. Service was great and fast. Pricing was what you'd expect. Parking was an issue but they offer valet and if you're OK to walk there is some parking on the side streets if you're willing to look for it.

The food here is amazing! Very nice atmosphere, excellent customer service, and well worth the price. I recommend this place for anyone who wants to either go on a family dinner or a intimate date. I highly doubt you will be disappointed. If I was able to give more than five stars I definitely would do it! This is definitely one Of my favorite Italian restaurants in the city.

We went to Porcini's after our disappointing anniversary dinner at Volare. Had the fried goat cheese appetizer which was crispy, melty and delicious. It's served with a perfect tomato sauce that was very fresh and perfectly tangy. I had the salad special- mozzarella caprese and it was wonderful-homegrown garden tomatoes covered in slices of soft mozzarella liberally sprinkled with fresh basil. Hubs had the apple walnut salad which was a terrific blend of sweet and salty with a hint of acid from the lovely warm dressing. For mains he had the pork tenderloin which, as you can see from the photo, was very big, grilled perfectly and served with mashed Yukon potatoes and kale. All of it tasted great. I had the risotto. It was really delicious, cooked to the right texture, creamy and lemony. Served with 5 jumbo shrimp that were grilled so you could taste the smokiness-I enjoyed every bite. For dessert we had the berry crumble which is served with vanilla gelato and is the perfect end to a substantial meal because it is not overly sweet. Mixed berries, lovely crumble, creamy gelato all come together for delicious bites added bonus-it is big enough to share. We had a lovely dinner. If I had any complaint it was that the tables are pretty close together and ours was right off the "party room" so my husband and I could not really have much of a conversation unless we raised our voices. Next time, yes there will be a next time, I think we will ask for a table in the "main dining area." Great dinner, good service, prices are slightly high but fair for the quality and atmosphere feels a bit more like a chain restaurant than a high end one.

First time visitor. We had the panko crusted goat cheese appetizer, the pomodoro sauce is fabulous and the creamy cheese is way better than what you find at the grocery store. For the entree we had the veal scallopini and the grilled shrimp with spring risotto. Both were excellent. Taylor was our server. We were her first table on her own. She did a great job.

Enjoyed our company Christmas party here. They kept bringing appetizers. These large shrimp that were very good. Best I’ve had on the shrimp side. The bruschetta was phenomenal. Everyone raves about the food. I had the glazed salmon and enjoyed the once again large portion. We also had pass around pastas that were great. My mission is to have my company repeat this place for next year! I would like to come back for the full menu sometime with my sweetheart.

Had the surf and turf special with a deliciously prepared to perfection filet, topped with a garlic butter that left your mouth watering after each bite. The asparagus was crisp and flavorful and the risotto was cooked to the perfect consistency. Absolutely the best dining experience I've had in a long time.

The food was very good. The staff was great. Just the right amount of being attentive and making sure we had what we desired. Menu is just right. They have about 10 different meals so all are very high quality. I like that. Very popular so make a reservation. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Food was amazing. Highly recommend the meatballs as an app (they aren't on the menu). Risotto was amazing. My wife and I got dishes with shrimp and scallops. They were cooked to perfection. You can't go wrong here for a nice date night. Giovanni was our server and he was perfect. Made great recommendations and super attentive. Finish it off with an espresso martini. Highly recommend this spot.

It truly isn't the same restaurant I remembered. We asked for another round of drinks and next thing we knew they were trying to take our unfinished dinners. Food was good but the pasta was dry We were told it would be an upcharge unless we'd just accept olive oil. No we never got our wine. Will not go back and have spread the news to my foodie friends

Simply AMAZING!!!! First time visiting and was blown away. Atmosphere is relaxing and intimate. Waiter provided 5 star service with extensive knowledge of the menu and turned out to be a top notch mixologists as well!! Tasted the best old fashion, I've ever sipped. The Chef and staff prepared a meal that will not be forgotten, highlighted by a steak that was prepared and served better than most premium steak houses. Ownership and management ensure that your experience is 100%. Hands down A++++++++ establishment. Entered as a customer left as a friend!!!

Great food, good service. Some of the best pasta Ive had in Louisville Only downside to our visit was the outdoor seating. We sat on the patio with our group and twice a train came by making extremely loud brake squeeling noises for long periods of time. It was so bad that several of our group wished we had sat inside or had gone somewhere else entirely.

Easily accessible/safe location, with a reservation you'll have no trouble getting in. We intend on visiting again soon, it was a great business meeting location.

This was an absolutely unbelievable experience. Every bite was another bit of heaven, from the appetizers (tortellini) to the entree (I had the gorgonzola, several raved about the filet and veal chop), to the desserts. The creme brule was delightful and airy, the strawberry cheesecake was a step above your usual fare. Everything was just superb.

The restaurant is very nice and the staff is pretty awesome. The place 3.5 to 4, the people 4 to 5. The food 2 to a 4. Some.of the food was outstanding some seemed more cooked and reheated. A common restaurant practice to get food out faster but it does affect the taste. I wasn't in the kitchen but i know food. No matter, go and enjoy this place.

This was our first time! We were greeted by a very friendly hostess and were immediately seated. It was spot on the rest of the night. Everything was cooked to perfection and the waiter was able to honor all of our special requests. Definitely 5 star! We will definitely be back!

Porchinis is a wonderful place. Tim Corey has been there thirty years and the place looked new. The meal I had was off the charts. It was so good I felt like the dishwasher cleaning the plates. His staff was excellent, the atmosphere was crazy good, and the drinks wonderfully delicious. Thank you Porcinis staff and Tim! (Month Later) I still fantasize about my dinner! It was so good. We were pretty disappointed actually. My wife's filet was really good along with her gnocchi. I had carbonara. My own fault, but should have read descriptions, because what I was served was pasta, chicken and some creamy tomato sauce. It was ok I guess. Wasn't bad but wasn't good. Definitely not what I really wanted for sure. The atmosphere was the weird thing. I felt like a teenager compared to the average age of 70 in there. Not a huge deal but wow, did those people like to act and dress like they were 25. Not a big deal to me but I would prefer dining with the non-geriatric club. In the end, we paid $125 tip and all for a meal that I ate maybe 1/2 a cup of my food, plus a pretty good appetizer and no alcohol. Di Fabios is just down the street for 1/3 of the price and age of crowd.

Tonight I ate at Porcini. I had one of the specials which was butternut ravioli with a creamy butternut sauce and shrimp. It was truly special. I have eaten here several times but it was a real standout tonight. The service was as great as it always is, but I wanted to make a point of letting people know what unique options they offer.

The meal was very good. Choices from a non tomato based Italian menu with wine. The server was very helpful with the recommendation paired a perfect wine Low light atmosphere, older establishment feel. My only issue is I wish there were full booth seating and when the location is full, the conversations can make it hard to hear at your table. Then again, that might just be me.

I really did not expect Porcini to be anything special, but I was wrong. The wait staff was really great and informative, their take on an "old fashioned" was actually pretty tasty, and the filet I had was very good. Im a HUGE steak guy and Porcini did a wonderful job on their 8oz filet, especially for an Italian restaurant. It was a steakhouse quality cook and cut. I will definitely be going back soon and hoping it was not just a one time thing! Thank you for a great experience during my business trip, Porcini. : )

Always amazing! While in Louisville after the Derby we stopped in on a whim to see if they might be able to seat us. We got a high top in the bar area. Justin was our waiter and he was fantastic! He should have a job training other waiters and waitress on how to do their jobs! Knew when to check on us knew when to leave us alone. The manager came over and to check on us and I couldn't believe it he used to be the manager of a wine bar I hung out in when I lived in Louisville. He helped us pick out a beautiful bottle of wine. I have never had a bad meal here and they did not disappoint me. My husbands favorite place in Louisville now! We will be back during our next visit to Kentucky!

A group of 8 were in town for a family event. One person had lived in Louisville several years ago & recommended Porcini's. It was a great success. Luckily we had reservations because it was packed for Friday night. The menu is called classic Italian & was executed to perfection. Everyone was happy. Also one of our party left his military cap & the assistant manager, Jason, went out of his way over several days to get it back to our family.

My wife and I went to celebrate our 6th anniversary, and I am so glad we chose Porcini! The food was amazing and the experience was incredible! Our waiter noticed we were exchanging gifts and asked what we were celebrating. When we said our anniversary, he asked if he could bring us dessert. Of course we said yes! The first dessert he mentioned was tiramisu. Being our favorite, we decided not to hear anymore! When he walked away, my wife said that we should have waited to hear if there was panna cotta, but I thought it was too rare to be at a restaurant somewhere. But, when our dessert arrived, it had both! It was a great surprise and we were very happy, and it will be a memory we share for a long time! It was a great experience and we hope to go back for another special occasion!

07-14-16 - My wife and I went to dinner last evening in celebration of our anniversary. As we were being seated I mentioned to the host what we were celebrating. All of the people taking care of our table made nice comments to us. We each had a before dinner cocktail, split an appetizer and had a glass of wine with our meal. Our server(Damian) mentioned that we should save some room for dessert. We enjoyed our meal immensely, and our server was great as was the rest of the staff. Thanks to all for an enjoyable evening.

This is literally the best restaurant for Italian food. In the world. And having taken several trips to Italy, I am indeed including several highly rated restaurants actually located in Italy. I'm officially including every single one of them. There is no close peer. Just ate there again tonight. Cost is normally a factor in judging restaurants for me, but Porcini makes it so easy, because it's clearly the best at any price point, or at any number of Michelin stars awarded.

Perfect modern Italian restaurant. Pasta, seafood, chicken, steaks, etc. Excellent service on a busy night. Food was fresh prepared and served hot. Waiter was very attentive and helpful. Definitely $$$. Dress is casual to dressy. They might even have valet parking.

This review was for a slow week day. 4 stars for service, 2 for food. Reasons for weak food score is as it relates to cost and poor quality of ingredients. This restaurant uses processed parmesan (possibly kraft) instead of Parmigiano-Reggiano on Caesar Salad. Dressing did not seem homemade but from bottle. Anchovies are nice touch but did not appear of high quality. “Olive oil” that comes with bread is obviously of a very cheap quality, acceptable for an Olive Garden not for a $$$ Italian restaurant. Bread also shockingly is not freshly baked or likely baked on premises- which is surprising for a place that makes pizzas. I get that there is not a lot of competition for Italian in Louisville, but if this place was in a larger city it would not be nearly as well reviewed. I did have the “country ham and peas” pasta special which was good but did not blow me away. Wine list is nice but not great options per glass. Tip to owner, improve quality of ingredients and lower employee expense. You have too many employees and while I was there at 9pm all employees were ordering their dinner. That looks expensive!

Amazing Italian fare. Simple two page menu full of complex and creative cuisine. Every course from the appetizers and salads, to the entrees and desserts, left us more impressed than the last (and that was no small feat considering the calamari was a masterpiece and the spinach salad sublime) Only criticism would be that the service, while polite, competent, and satisfactory, was not nearly at the same level of excellence as the food. Will not disappoint, Bravo!

Updated review 6/2019: Unfortunately recently I haven't been left with the best impressions of this establishment. This past visit, I ordered a half iceberg wedge salad with dinner. When I got it, I almost needed a microscope to see it (was not the case a couple of months ago). It was literally four small layers of the end of a head of lettuce with ONE cherry tomato. It was embarrassing the kitchen sent something out like that, but for $5, I said nothing. On a good note, the linguine gamberi half portion I ordered was ample and delicious as always, as well as an outstanding peach cheesecake. A customer nearby asked about wifi and was told, "we don't provide wifi because they are afraid of too many people slowing our internet down". Huh?! People spend average $75-250 easily here, that is ridiculous. With 200 Mbps speeds min. for business, not going to happen, just FYI. Apparently prices have been raised by average of $2 on many entrees too. I also heard (from a VERY reliable source) for the KY Derby weekend steaks that costs $105 were being served to guests. When choice cut meat ran out, they started using cheaper cuts yet still charged the same price. This was disappointing to hear but not shocking. Fine dining establishments in Louisville have been ripping off people on Derby for many years now. Got to say though, they have some great staff. Especially bartender Cookie (wasn't there this night) and chef John. I am not anxious to return after this however. Maybe I am not the only one as it was a Saturday night and the place was just half full? I don't think raising prices is going to help their cause very much either. Best of luck!

There for drinks and dessert right before closing. All was great. Staff that was on the verge of closing time were friendly, welcoming and fun! We had a great time and got the last piece of awesome cheesecake!

Really good, modern Italian food. Would be a good Italian restaurant in New York, so it's legit. Cappolini con Pesce was very tasty with lots of seafood. Penne Carbonara is also recommend as are the fried artichokes and calamari apps. Atmosphere on a Saturday is very lovely and it is packed. Reservations recommended. Don't hesitate to eat here. Makes an old fashioned place like Vincenzos seem past living on life support.
