Reviews of New Wave Burritos
A different kind of burrito the size of your head, with interesting ingredients and flavors to choose from. Small shop with like seating, but it suits the vibe. Fast and friendly service, with takeaway being a popular choice among customers. Good guacamole and (I think) homemade chips. Make sure you go hungry, as portions are large.
A New Wave indeed.
Don't get me wrong, Chipotle burritos are still bae.
But there's something nice about a more down to earth burrito experience.
While you eat your food, you'll be surrounded by others playing away at the pinball machines just trying to get that next new high score.
With this chill, old school, back in the day gaming atmosphere experience. You'll definitely want to come and relax a little and get some good food while your here.
If you are looking for the best burritos in Louisville, then look no further! New Wave has a great vibe going for itself, with pinball machines and high top tables. The food is its strongest selling point with massive, delicious burritos the size of your fore arm. I am hooked on this place, and so is everyone I have taken.
Visiting town for the night and thought this place looked neat. Burritos are awesome!!
The burritos are huge and very flavorful. The nachos are delicious. Eclectic decor. Friendly staff. Great place to hang out and have a beer. And they have pinball, what more could you want.
This location is on Preston Highway off 265 West. It is a hole in the wall place that offers good food and great value for your buck.
It is a very laid back environment with bunch of pinball machines, few high tops.
They serve beer and spirits. Believe it or not they have the old VHS and TV combo on the front counter and they play movies.
I ordered chilaquiles for appetizer and it was delicious with a sunny side egg on top.
For main entree I ordered the hooter bowl, no it is not what you think, it had steak, potatoes, cheese etc. Any burrito can be ordered as a bowl.
The prices are reasonable for the serving size.
For dessert they have tres leches twinkies which is basically 2 twinkies, whipped cream and tres leches syrup. Worth the try at least once.
Give this place a shot, you might be pleasantly surprised.
This place is a MUST GO every time we are in Louisville. Shown in pictures (which don't do it justice) is the Basher in nacho form and the fried plantains with beans. Very cool atmosphere (complete with pinball machines) and large portions. Highly recommended - hope to eat my way thru the entire menu in the future.
Some of the most unique and flavorful burritos in Louisville! We got two burritos and an order of fries and it was way too much food for two people, but the flavors were incredible! Everything was delicious and we will return. Location itself is upbeat, clean, and full of pinball machines! My only wish is that this place had a better location; there's only a few parking spots and Preston highway is scary when busy.
Super fast service. Funky vibe. Amazing chipa, LOVED the salsa! Our burittos were fantastic. Thanks to groupon for this find! Highly recommend!!
This is, for sure, the best place to get a burrito in the whole city. Everything they make is delicious; The giant burritos crafted with tender, loving care, the elotes dusted with magical seasonings and cheese, the delicious cocktails masterfully mixed, and the weekly specials that are sure to tantalize both your tongue and your creative spirit. I love the environment too, everyone is always very friendly, the decor is beyond cool, and the pinball machines are just a sweet addition to an already rad place. I come here every chance I can get, if I lived closer I'd definitely be there daily.
Delicious! Only a stones throw from the Louisville Expo Center and the Crowne Plaza Hotel. A little pricey but quality of food was top notch! Pinball while you wait.
Food is always great and their weekly burritos are fun to try. Just wish there was more parking and that some of the side options were a bit cheaper.
Large burritos, tasty. Order the Margherita !!!
A great concept and a wonderful tasting burrito! The owner was there and made me feel very welcomed and even chatted about some food and drink. They are also open late and ever have a delivery service.
Great service. Excellent burrito. Huge portion for the price. I will be back,if you haven't been it is a must try.
The burrito that I ordered was pretty good. However the female cashier wasn't too friendly clashing with the fun vibe of the place. A smile and friendly demeanour especially with regards to new customers would go a long way
Amazing place! The vacation burrito is a must try!
The restaurant is very clean, and it features multiple arcade games. Such a cool atmosphere.
****When you first walk in, the menu is on the wall to the right -close to the cash register . Once you order there, you choose a seat.
Flaming Hot Cheeto Elote was great. Tres leches Twinkies are creative. Chips have great flavor. Fun restaurant with unique food options.
Amazing food! Nice staff and accommodating to me asking for substitutes in my burrito. Did I say amazing food!!!!
This is The Ville’s most dazzling hidden gem. Possibly should be considered gourmet instead of Mexican since it’s so unique. Awesome place!
Fantastic, large, hot, and tasty burrito! I got 'The Vacation' and it was so unique and so flavorful!
I dig the vibes here as well as the classic pinball machines!
I WILL BE BACK!
This is sometimes a hit and miss. Depending on who is in the kitchen will determine your portion. I sent an email and it did was remedied quickly. I love this place and appreciate any of the fusions just need some consistency with portions and love in the food.
Still recommend for a quick bite in Louisville. It’s a gem and I still return with fingers crossed.
First time visiting but will definitely go back given the opportunity. I don’t live in the area. I tried the onda nueva fries and the basher burrito. Both were great and the portion could’ve feed two people easily. I had to push the plates away from me to keep from eating them. Staff were friendly and the food came out in a reasonable time. I enjoy the atmosphere as its laid back and welcoming. I’ve only left two reviews in my life for restaurants. The other was due to a horrible experience in another place/state. This one is for the opposite reason. I wish them the best of luck in life moving forward!!
Imagine that the show Beavis & Butthead mixed its genes with the show Regular Show and produced burrito-slinging entrepreneurs -- welcome to New Wave Burritos. Their food options are packed with fillings, their weekly specials are unique and fantastic, their tater-tots are shaped like Tetris pieces (I kid you not), their pinball machines are killer, and their vibes are solid. I can't recommend it highly enough to friends who visit Louisville and need a place to get some great food.
I love this place.
I got the veggie quesadilla and the esquites... Oh man, SO GOOD. Very cool vibe inside and lots of choices. I was super satisfied with my first visit.
Amazing burritos! Try the loaded fries as an app. Have dozen of different hot sauces to try with you meal. Will eat here again next time I’m in town.
One word sums it up.......Yum! The best nacho's are the Hooter's!!
PS It says clear as day on the Board that chips are sold separately on the Menu! It's the business fault some customer's don't understand proper English! lol The Chips are amazing by the way!!
Pretty good food. And a place to hang out. Chips are little salty.
If you're not calling this place 25mim before they close because you will die without food, are you even living?
Burritos were great, hot sauce great, chips great. Overall though.... It was great!
Great environment, smaller establishment but has pinball machines, great food and drinks
Amazing burritos they are simply huge. Good beer and good atmosphere, open late on weekends.
I love checking out their weekend specials and Taco Tuesdays, they've always got something creative like this Ghibli themed special! The regular menu is reliably fantastic, my absolute favorite treat is the Vacation burrito: scrambled eggs, tots (that stay good and crunchy), chorizo, and queso. The Basher (Coconut-Adobo braised Pork with a spicy kick and loaded with fajita veggies) and the Tourist (Ancho-roasted chicken with a house made crunchy slaw). If you're feeling frisky there's also an amazing "Chikichanga" (a chimichanga loaded with mac & cheese, and BBQ chicken, then covered with the house queso) and the Ondo nueva fries are the ultimate in indulgence if you can stand the heat of the jalapeno crema. Seriously, if you haven't tried this place out, I'd put it at the top of the list!
Omg, this place is amazing. First time going there and will go again. Definitely get your money's worth, the burritos are HUGE!!
There burritos were the most splendid, delicious, mouth watering, taste budding singing, toe curling, blushing and giggling burritos I have ever eaten in all my years of living. I still dream about them to this day.
I've enjoyed everything I've had from New Wave Burritos. You can have any burrito as a bowl, but even over fries or tater tots which is a lovely feature. The Onda Nueva Fries are spectacular. Overall, it's a diverse menu that is fairly-priced for the quantity and quality you get.
I've only gotten takeout but the atmosphere in the restaurant is fun, I'd like to dine-in and try their margaritas sometime.
Hands down, best non traditional burrito 🌯 I've EVER had!
Traveling from out of state and my hotel (Sure Stay Plus) highly recommended this place. I ordered the Tourist. Humongous!Loved the crunchy slaw. But my favorite was the queso and obviously homemade nachos. I wish I could have the recipe for that queso but I bet they will keep it a secret!!
The salsa was too hot for me to handle!
I saw where someone commented this place is not authentic...that they offer Americanized burritos. So what!!?? We happen to live in America and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal!!
I love these folks. Rarely do they mess up my order, and their deliveries are always on-time. Their Onde Nueva fries are a must-have, and their burritos are tight, sufficiently priced and expertly rolled. New Wave is my favorite local delivery joint. Long may they live!
Super sized burritos. We got the Basher and Garbage Burritos and only ate half of each. Super flavors, not just filled with beans and rice. Tons of meat and tons of flavor. The parking is a nightmare though around 1 o'clock on a Saturday and the lunch special was already sold out. Will drive from Etown again just for this food!.
Having worked at a burrito restaurant in Australia, and familiar with the burritos of LA & San Fran, this restaurant's offering was at the top; excellent!
Unique recipe, fresh ingredients, and spectacular taste. Given all of that, the price was a steal.
Further, they rushed my order without me asking, as they observed that I was waiting (just left airport on way home). Brilliant.
If you are looking for real Mexican style burritos then this is not the place. This is a very small Americanized restaurant/bar. The food over all was decent. The queso and salsa are pretty good. The beef is a little too salty. Over all my experience was not as expected.
Authentic tex-mex. Good menu and yhe barritos are huge. Had the tourist very tasty.
Hole in the wall with great character. Burritos are top notch.
Got the basher, pork was sweet and had a good heat and was super juicy and tender. The salsa verde was the best I've ever had.
I got the "Hooter Burrito".... and WOW!!! The flavor was an explosion in my mouth.
And the Tres Leches Twinkie is delicious!!!!
Definitely want to come back!!!
The atmosphere and the employees are WONDERFUL!!!!
Holy moly, I went with a friend & we both got The Garbage Burrito & the Onda Nueva Fries-- SO yummy. The fries were definitely my favorite but the burrito was the bomb.com too!! The pin ball machines make a fun addition :)
Ahhhhh-maaaaaaa-ziiiiiiing food! It’s TRULY new wave!
I got The Vacation Tot-chos! Seasoned well and the queso was creamy! I’m drooling wanting to go back....and I WILL be back! 🤤 …
These burritos are quite amazing :) My partner recommended this place to me, and after I took my first bites, I said "we're coming back." Also tried the vegan chili cheese fries, and those were also very good, but we were just too full from the burritos to finish everything. Oh, and I very much recommend you try the hot sauce on the tables. Very flavorful spice.
I order a couple of their burritos every time I come to Louisville. Always excellent, huge and tasty. My plan was eat half of one and save the rest for lunch tomorrow. So this time, after the haze cleared, I found that I ate the whole burrito. Now I feel like Mr. Creosote, one wafer thin mint and I'm going to pop.
When we walked in my friend turned to ask me "is this heaven?" and based on how good the burrito tasted alone I think the answer might've been yes.
Cafe is a bit cramped, it does have many pin ball and also a bar. Take out was ready in about 30 min, tastes were great. Nachos and Burritos are good.
picked up a cold ish burrito 5 mins before pickup time pretty much my only complaint had nice flavors and textures depending on what you get but definitely giving it another shot overall enjoyable especially if ur baked I didn’t think I could eat that big a burrito
Regularly attempt to get my hands on the specials of the week, but the standard menu is always amazing as well.
Burritos so big tou can share them but who knows if you would like to share or eat the whole thing!
The burritos are always F A N T A S T I C
Super sick arcade / den vibes
Huge fan :)
You brilliant people.... you beautiful, brilliant, burrito making people! How have I never heard of you until today, and you deliver! You deliver right when you said you would and your chips are so stinkin good. Do I want to double-dip without breaking my chips, yes I do... and your chips make the dream come true. Your burritos, sexy tortilla food delivery system, just so freaking good. High five yourselves, because I can't be there in person right now to high five you ❤
Very large burritos! Excellent service
What a find! I love burritos and this place rocked my burrito loving world.
Was in Town for basketball and needed a bite. This place was near the convention center.
Eclectic pinball margarita burrito heaven.
Loved my margarita while playing on one of a dozen pinball games, waiting on the food.
Burritos are unique in options and tasty.
The steak and tatter tot was was delicious and juicy, the vegetarian one was full of flavor, and the pork one ordered was equally lovely.
I highly recommend this place. Fun, tasty, eclectic, just go
Excellent food. Large portions and for keto and low carb they have bowls. Actually love this little hole in the wall and so happy we came upon it. Will definitely be back!!!! I hope they do well!
Not only was the burrito large and packed full, it had unique ingredients, like crunchy slaw. I stopped here not that hungry and ended up crushing that burrito. My only mistake was not coming here sooner. Oh, and they have a small but good draft list.
Delicious! Fun, relaxed atmosphere. Keep in mind this is "Americanized" Mexican food so if you're expecting authentic Mexican maybe try somewhere else. But don't write it off because of that; their burritos are so yummy! The meat in the Hooters burrito was perfectly seasoned! Seems like a great place to go with a group of friends.
Probably the most underrated restaurant in Louisville. The Hooter is one of the best burritos I have ever had. It is pretty much impossible to beat a burrito with grilled steak, tater tots, banana peppers, queso, etc.
Good:
- first and foremost, the food on my visit was so fresh; seriously tasted like every ingredient had been cut as my 'bowl' was prepared
- online ordering was a breeze; this includes the easy interface used to customize my order to the curbside pickup
Caution:
- small parking area (these folks are hoppin' and that small parking area struggles to accommodate dine-in and pick-up orders (luckily, delivery is an option)
While waiting for my awesome food order, I enjoyed a nice glass of Evil Twin, "Everyday, Once a Day, Give Yourself an IPA."
Had the Queso previously...However, tried Queso con Chorizo this evening. Wow! Rocked it out New Wave. It was a generous portion and packed full of flavor. No shortage on the chips either. Can't wait to eat leftovers in the morning. Will probably throw those incredible chips in the air fryer for a few seconds to bring out all those FLAVORS!
Bottle Cap Guy
Have eaten New Wave at least a dozen times. I hate cheese and they’ve always followed my order perfectly - no issues. Not common when ordering a burrito without cheese. The Basher is incredible, meat is super tender. Definitely top 3 in our favorite restaurants in Louisville. Also, the chips are incredible so try those too.
One of my favorite "foodie" restaurants in Louisville. Interesting twist on fusion Mexican food that doesn't disappoint. Their Buffalo Chicken Empanada is incredible. Also a fan of their "vacation" burrito. Also it's true to the period of 80s styling inside complete with arcade games and pinball. Must see!
Our family was in town for a softball tournament and found this hidden gem after leaving a nearby amusement park. And what a jem it is! Two of us had the Hooter and 2 of us had the Tourist. All of us loved our burritos. Great twist on an old favorite. Good beer selection and great atmosphere. Service was fast and friendly.
Y'all! This place was amazing. No comparison. Take your favorite burrito restaurant and move them over a space because this place right here is top of the line. Numero Uno! Number one! The Vacation is my favorite, but I plan to eat the menu until I'm totally satisfied I've tried everything.
Great burritos that are incredibly large!
My girlfriend and I go here all the time. Please bring back Arabian Nights. That table and I go back to my early middle school days.
From the moment we walked in, we saw how much potential this place had. They have such a cool atmosphere for daytime or nighttime eats and entertainment (pinball, y'all!) and so much selection for drinks (cheap, strong, and delicious!) and fully customizable flavors and foods. With loads of sauce options to get as spicy as you'd like, their food (with plenty of veg options) was flavorful and robust with unique twists and combinations of traditional Latin flavors.
For both of us (appetizer, two burritos, and two drinks), the price was around $50 including gratuity, which we would gladly pay again for such an incredible experience).
I got to the garbage burrito and the meat was over seasoned to the point of being extremely salty. I will, however give them a second chance and try some of their other offerings. The atmosphere is really cool. They have a lot of pinball machines that are kinda cool. Also the music selection is really good.
Great environment and my Vacation burrito was great. Fast friendly service
First time here... best dam nachos I had in years..
I was excited to try this place because of their unique menu. My husband and I both got burritos. He got chicken and I got vegetable. Neither of us were very impressed.
I had The Clive (vegetarian) burrito and it was so delicious, I've been craving it ever since! The queso was good, too, with a very low price. The only thing I would change is that the chips were seasoned, which was a little overkill for me. It was my first time so I didn't know. Otherwise, the atmosphere is very colorful & hip...I love the pinball as well!
Been coming here every Thursday since 2019 (with the reasonable break for the pandemic). I can't get enough of this place. The weekend special keeps bringing me back every week to see what sort of crazy ideas they come up with next. I can't recommend New Wave enough!
Burritos were absolutely amazing. I had the Hooter....OMG I could drive 4hrs for that any weekend. Not so impressed with the desserts, but the burritos made up for it. Cozy place, good people, fun pinball machines, just a real good place to hang and feed your face.
The food is fantastic. I have eaten in as well as picked up for take out several times. Every single item I have tried has been delicious. The nachos are excellent, the pazole is the BEST I have ever had and just wait until you try the margaritas!! Amazing! Cheers to New Wave.
I'm keeping the review to 3 stars because of the atmosphere, and portion sizes. This is a rough, and casual place, but I was disappointed at the attitude of the cashier. I spoke up to say thank you a few times, and she wouldn't even look at me, much less say you're welcome, or any customary politeness you'd expect when patronizing a small restaurant. The food itself was totally acceptable. Some fun ingredients, but mostly simple and cheap fair. The portions were ridiculous. I'm a 200lb guy and if it's too much for me, the place should really cut down on portions so that they don't have to charge almost $10 for a burrito that's mostly rice and cheese. Probably not coming back..
We discovered this little peace of haven a couple days ago and we are so glad we did. Unfortunately were in town only 3 days so we can't try the entire menu. Amazing atmosphere, great tasting food and burritos with ingredients unlike anywhere else I've seen. We will definitely be coming back again next year.
The food here is amazing and unique! So much better than the generic burrito places that lack imagination in their preparation. This place keeps their menu rotating so you're really never bored with their selections.
We were a little concerned when we pulled up, but decided to go for it. Glad we did, the people were friendly, the atmosphere was hip, and the food was delicious!
Love the food and the atmosphere. Don't let the outside fool you, its a cool little place inside with a great vibe. Everyone working here was very friendly but the food is the reason to come back! The Basher burrito was amazing, and the green hot sauce is different than any other i've ever tried, and it is my new favorite sauce.
Cool atmosphere and general vibe of the place. Don't really care for the way that they season their rice. If you like something a bit more sweet in your rice, you will enjoy this. Absolutely love their cool ranch chips.
I only wish I had one more day in louisville to go to this place a third time. The burritos were creative combinations of beautifully seasoned meats and beans. The margarita had something in it that set it apart that I can't quite put my finger on. Same for the salsa. Freshness and homemade seem to be the key factors in why everything right down to the tortilla chips was deliciously different.
Some of the best burritos in town, $10 huge burritos with quality ingredients. By no means a health food. Cool selection of retro pinball machines inside and a small bar make a for nice after work hangout or lunch dive.
Great service and yummy food! The old school arcade games were fun to play while waiting for our food. Definitely will be coming back
when we visit again. I laughed when I read the negative reviews, they seem like personal problems to me. Who doesn’t like food to take home?! And if people dont like the customer service then they can continue to order online.
Fantastic burritos. In town for a volleyball tournament. We were able to make 2 meals out of these monsters. Steak was tender unlike so many Mexican restaurants.
Always try the special. Idgaf how absurd/ weird/ maybe even gross the combinations sound: try them. They're not always *amazing* (although the Indian-themed ones they did a couple of months ago were phenomenal), but they're consistently interesting, and I've yet to encounter one that was bad (even when I forget to ask for no onions - heads up, fellow onion haters, the are scallions on literally every burrito there, but they're really good about modding that if you ask, so it's not worth a star dock).
If they're out of the special, The Vacation is what's up, and grab a quesadilla with bacon for later.
Curbside pickup and delivery make this an especially good covid option.
We've had carry out twice. Both times the service was just ok. The food is just ok. You can't be just ok with all the amazing burrito and taco options in Louisville. My husband and I both agreed that we would rather support other local places with better service and food.
The food was delicious. I got the garbage burrito and added guacamole. Great choice! There are a few downsides though. When ordering cheese or salsa, you have to also order chips for an additional cost. This is the first restaurant we’ve had to pay for it, but if that was the only issue we had, I’d be okay with it. It wasn’t. There was three people in front of us and we spent 10 minutes in line. We ordered our food with ease and sat at a table. One of our friends got water, but the cashier never gave her one, so we had to go up and ask (we were the last ones in line and the cashier was only standing there). Apparently they give you a cup and a large glass bottle for the table. We finally got our food, which I must stress, was delicious! The cheese dip and chips were missing from the order. We figured they must be still making it, so we just kept eating. We were nearly finished when we finally had to go up there and ask the cashier. He went to the kitchen and returned with the cheese dip to forget the chips...I feel the cashier could have done more, especially that he was not cooking, bringing food out, or even cleaning.
These are some seriously huge and tasty burritos. The staff was also super nice and helpful, even though they were very busy. Great signature cocktails too!
Delicious and unique burrito place. You definitely get your money's worth and they are very tasty. Worth a try for sure! Fresh fried pork skins are a must when visiting! 🔥🌯👌 …
Order delivery regularly. Never had any issues except tonight they forgot an entree. Called they made it right. Delivered the missing item and refunded some of the order. Food is A++
The food here is awesome, they're open pretty late and they deliver. I'd recommend getting nachos over a burrito, they're chips are home made and very tasty. Large bar selection for a small place. Waiting for your food is actually fun because they have pinball machines all around the dining room!
It's like if a Ska punk band did acid and dreamed up the coolest burrito shop you can think of. Great art, good food, staff is super chill.
This place was pretty cool except for they were out of the taco that I wanted, so I ordered the garbage, wasn't a fan, however the nice man gave me chips and salsa free of charge with queso on the side my only dilemma was I was going to save that almost $10 Taco for my nine-year-old and when I went to play Pac-Man, the man threw it away, I confronted him and his reply was "you didn't like it anyway" ummm yea I don't think I have to explain myself if I want to keep an almost $10 product I just purchased, I don't like wasting food surely and somebody in my family would have ate that burrito that I only had two bites of.... anyway I'm also not a big fan of the decor, the bar seats are made for very small people, no I'm not a large person, I do think a larger ppl would have a hard time.
UPDATE: I decided to come back for the Rapture, they were out of it the first time I went, and for some reason I thought it would be so great; it was not, first and foremost they have about a pound of greens and additional pounds of feta cheese on a burrito, secondly, I wasn't crazy about the taste, about five bites in and removing all the extra unnecessary green spinach and feta, it still didn't hit my taste buds right, but to each his own, the lady working the counter, acted burdened when I asked her for a foil to take my burrito for someone else in my family may like it (doubtfully). The best thing I can say about this place, is I loved the diversity, people from all walks of life come here during lunch hour. I just initially thought my review was harsh and wanted to be fair, now I know it's just not the one burrito, I probably will never care for the food here.
Stopped by and got an amazing burrito called the heater while I was in town for work. Not too spicy at all and I added bacon cause I’m a pig. They had the BEST homemade chips I’ve ever had and their queso was the truth!! You would be an idiot not to give this place a shot and support local business, not to mention they have pin ball machines (: I’ll be back soon.
Absolutely love their food! This to me is a perfect little spot for a restaurant like theirs. It's such a unique place to eat and play games even if you want! The garbage burrito is something I could order every time I went & not be tired of it.
Had a bowl and a cocktail delivered in great timing. Super delicious and huge portions! 🤟🏻 …
New Wave is awesome! Great counter service joint with a vibe somewhere between California taqueria and 1980s video arcade. Lots of options to choose from. Pinball machines are a plus. $10 will buy almost anything on the menu. The burritos and serving sizes are way more than you would ever need to eat in a sitting, even though you will most definitely eat all of it because it’s so delicious. Try the vegan chili cheese fries!!! I can’t stress that enough!
So good! We all had a great time eating, drinking, and playing pinball. Can't wait to come back to Louisville so I can get some more burritos at New Wave.
A Hooter and special.
Both so delicious.
Safe, and easy curbside service.
AMAZING! We were in Louisville for the weekend and wanted nachos. Stumbled upon this place on google after searching for "nachos near me". They were about 10 minutes from the hotel. Do NOT let the outisde/area scary you. It looks sketchy, but the food was absolutely AMAZING! Definitely going to come back to town just for their food!
First time going here and it’s definitely family friendly. The burrito was awesome and they have a nice selection of beer. I will definitely be back to check out more items on the menu.
Try something new every time you go.... I swear you won't be disappointed. It's all fabulous! I forgot how much I loved playing pinball. I had to play every single one. This is a place you have to frequent. I love it here and so does my daughter. Something here for everyone of any age group.
This place is getting 4 stars for the sheer fact that you can get a burrito delivered at 2 am. Other than that the food isn't super impressive. Very expensive for a burrito, really wish they would at least cook the shells. The inside of the place has a cool vibe to it where you can play pinball, but I'm not sure that really makes up for the value of your food.
I was staying at a nearby hotel because I was attending a conference at the Expo center. Because I was staying so close to the conferenece, I was not given a rental car.
I decided to explore local restaurants that weren't chains and came upon this gem.
At this point, I had worked out in the gym of the hotel and walked nearly a mile to get here. It was hot and humid so I'm sure I looked like a hot mess entering, but I was greeted warmly by such friendly smile.
My biggest complaint about this place is that all theit food sounds amazingly delicious and being a responsible adult, I knew I couldn't order everything. So, I ordered a "Garbage" burrito which had ground beef, refried beans, queso, pickled jalapenos, sour cream, and green onions and I ordered a coffee stout from a local brewery.
I sat at the bar and enjoyed my beer while I waited for my order. When it was ran out to me, the runner was really nice and while I was eating, another employee kept ensuring that I was good.
I told a local who I had met at the conference about this place. While he has yet to go, he told others to go and they also raved about the food. If you're in Louisville and want some amazingly delicious food, you need to come here!
Ordered in advance and this tasty burrito was ready to go. I got the Heater with added sour cream and it was the best burrito I've had in a while. I love this place! The staff was also super friendly
I've been reading rave reviews for New Wave for a while and thought it might be just the drunk hipsters talking. Its not. Good food, MASSIVE burritos. One can easily do for two people. Good, cheap, and they deliver.
Cute shop with a wide variety of hipster burritos.
They have some interesting burrito combinations and the chips are incredibly tasty. I found myself wishing the taste and ingredients were just a bit better and the service was a bit friendlier but overall this is a good spot for some unique burrito options.
The chips and queso here are unique and delicious! You don’t come here for your typical burrito! I love the vacation with extra picked red onions and having the option to get any burrito over tatter tots is genius!
Saw this place in a Facebook post and found they were on my way when traveling to Tennessee! Just a couple minutes off the freeway. What a great stop. Unassuming location with great burritos inside. Retro vibe with pinball machines inside. Chalk board wall has all the burrito options. And there's a bar inside as well. Stop in!
First time eating here. Loved the order online for pickup option! Inside has a great vibe and the customer service was above and beyond. The food was delicious and probably the best burrito I've eaten (and I've eaten a lot of burritos......)
Good burritos - including some nice vegetarian options. Marred only by too much salt in the rice. The over salted rice was probably an accident, as the rest of the burrito was great. The pork was especially good. Moist and tender without being too fatty or too lean.
Awesome, intimate place great atmosphere amazingly nice service. Retro movies and pinball machine create a fun and relaxed environment. Plus they are open until 2am you just can't beat that in Louisville!
There isn't a single item that you could order off this menu that won't blow your socks off. I tell everyone I know that this is the best burrito spot in Louisville, hands down, bar none, take it to the bank.
Excellent! Fun atmosphere, friendly servers, ginormous amazing burritos, great variety of craft and specialty brews on draft and bottle/can. Even delivery to some areas. You can't go wrong.
Would go again tomorrow. And the day after. And the day after for their weekend special. And then.. you get the picture.
Unique burrito fillings with an atmosphere to make you feel like you're in the 80's. Laid back vibe. Favorite burrito joint. Drop mic.
I'm always skeptical to try a new place, but i gave it a try. We just really were passing by this place and picked it at random. This place doesn't look like much, but that was ok because the food was awesome! The burritos were HUGE and tasted excellent. We will be back to this place. Wish more people knew about this establishment.
Small but place like this is why I support local businesses. Great food fun family friendly atmosphere!
Pinball and burritos need I say more
Coming from the Pacific Northwest, I've grown accustomed to authentic Mexican/Hispanic food. I found the meat to be rather bland and in general the burrito to be somewhat tasteless. It filled me up, but that's why I ranked three stars. The two burritos I bought were the Banger and the Tourist. I had high hopes for the adobo chicken and coconut pork. Both tasted crock-pot cooked and under seasoned. I was on vacation and it was walking distance, otherwise I wouldn't visit (again).
New Wave has the best burritos and totchos (tater tot nachos) that I've ever seen. They tend to have a new special every week or so, and the staff is extremely friendly and conversational. The only downside is the parking, which can be a bit tricky, but luckily there's an alley right next to the building you can park in.
Was in the area and wanted to try something local. I was beyond impressed with everything. From the service, to the retro-hipster "vibe," to the 3 minutes it took to get our food, and you certainly get every bit of value for what you pay. Left fulfilled and satisfied, look forward to my next visit!
I will always love New Wave Burritos. From the time they were working out of the kitchen of Eiderdown after hours as a late-night delivery-only Germantown exclusive, I've been a fan. I've watched them grow over the years, almost as if I was a proud papa bear, into the fine restaurant that they've become, with their extended menus, drinks, and the highly-anticipated specials of the week! I will always recommend New Wave Burritos to newcomers, and will be a repeat-customer as long as they continue to offer their services!!
Speaking as an internationally recognized* polyomino researcher, I can attest that the Basher Fry-cho is the most delicious configuration of tetrominoes possible. The Chicha-cho burrito bowls are also fantastic but have less relevance to recreational mathematics.
*I had a nice chat with a Belgian researcher about pentominoes at a conference. She would recognize me if we met again.
The atmosphere and food are A++. Definitely get the raunchy and raunchy tortilla chips with queso. Get some cilantro on the side if you like cilantro so you can add it to the top of your queso. I highly recommend the Heater Burrito. The Tater tots give it a tasty crunch.
Great burritos. Took my wife to New Wave Burritos on a Friday night after the World Championship Horse Show. She had The Garbage without the jalapenos. She said it was the best burrito she has had. We've eaten, Qdoba, Moe's and LaBamba's and New Wave is way better. Cool pinball machines and great music.
ABSOLUTELY best street food ever! Gotta try the flaming hot elotes. The BASHER burrito is to die for and the service is quick and friendly. Prices are affordable and very clean establishment. Will be back soon!
I used to not eat burritos that much but I've loved every burrito I've had here. Very filling. Sometimes I have to save half for leftovers.
Fantastic and very fairly priced. Especially if you want something late.
Great burritos! Best in town without a doubt (and I've tried all of them) As an added plus I understand they are soon adding a Beer selection to their in restaurant menu.
Love this place and wish I could go more often. Food is well made with quality ingredients. They keep their menu fresh by offering creative weekly specials for the adventurous eater. Highly recommended.
Food was fairly priced and delicious! Where else can you get huge burrito for cheap with steak, melty Monterey Jack cheese, and tator tots so deliciously. 5/5 would recommend and definitely will be back!
Amazing food, I moved out of town and still drive the hour back to new wave to grab a burrito from time to time.
Maybe I don't get it. Maybe it's cause I can cook. Maybe it's cause I'm not a stoner. Let's run through the scoring, shall we? Concept: A, Vibe: A, Space: B+, Service: B-, Music: A-, Pinball: A, Hot Sauce: B, Esquites: B, Crab Ranganadas: C, Burrito: C The takeaway? It could be so much better! I truly wanted to fall in love...but it was not to be. My advice? Be friendlier with your service. Be bolder with your flavors. Be, well, weirder. The menu ideas are very interesting; I just don't think they fulfill the promise.
Nice vibe and very friendly and attentive staff. Got two different burritos, one tasted like Taco Bell and the other one was pretty good. Pricy for what it is
I've been multiple times and the guy taking the orders at the bar HAS to do a better job of greeting customers. I often do online ordering so I just have to pick up, but a couple of times I have seen him say something to his fellow bartender and they both look at me. Not sure if there is a problem or what but he should work on basic customer service skills. Also, a simple greet like "hello" goes a long way.
After a friend told me about NuWave, it became a weekly lunch stop for me. Tried lots of stuff on the menu and never found anything i didnt like. Reccomend the chips and queso con chorizo, and the Hooter. Wish i was still working nearby!
Great place for food! The tortilla chips are awesome along withe the fresh chicharones! Had the garbage Nachos and we had the Hooter Burrito. AMAZING
Some how I accidentally gave a 1 star review the first time around! I feel terrible. I'll try harder to make sure my phone screen is off before putting it in my pocket next time lmao! I love this place. The vacation is my favorite and their queso is to die for!
That was an awesome meal! I had the Basher Totachos. The tots were excellent and somehow still crispy after having cheese and burrito stuffings piled all over them. Definitely filling, I should have eaten half but it was too good :)
Amazing. The quality of the food itsself speaks volumes. I got The Basher and the flavors just melded together. Hands down the best burrito I've ever had.
Whoa! Beastly size burritos that are rocking!
Best customer service I've ever experienced. Took a late order that was far out of their range for delivery with only one driver available. Also not to mention delicious burritos!
kinda hipsteresque but really great food. I had the special and it was a burrito with meatloaf, bacon fat mac and cheese, french fried onions, and chiles. highly recommended. I will be going back next time I am in the area.
10/10 recommend! First time getting delivery from New Wave -- on time, food was hot, and beer was cold! Thank you :)
Great food. I haven’t been able to eat anything without remembering the day that changed burritos forever. If you haven’t tried it yet, stop what you’re doing and go now.
Not my scene. It's better for the trendier crowds that like being vegan and vegetarian and eating from a wide range of food ingredients. However unique little place that I didn't even know was down the street from my neighborhood for the longest time.
Food was alright in my ipinjon, but would be FANTASTIC if you're drunk or hungover. The burrito sizes are worth the price, I made two meals out of one.
This is a Burrito place. They are a bit heavy on the beans. The only burrito they have without beans is the "Vacation", which is basically a breakfast variety of burrito. Chorizo sausage, egg, tater tots (crunchy!), onions, other stuff, and cheese sauce, ect. Its magnificent (my current favorite).
Their other burritos have beans and are more or less tasty, but are bean heavy. These burritos cost on average $1 more than Qdoba, of are similar size, and is more or less worth it. Ingredients seem fresh and its a good 'artisan' burrito alternative. Try one.
oh, and they deliver till 4am (thurs, fri , sat) for germantown and downtown (Old) lousiville.
Normally good food, most likely still is. However it’s a year into this and your inside is still closed. It’s upsetting, and really at this point comical. I took the boys someplace else. I’m really disappointed.
Burrito was ok. A little over priced. It was very busy on the day we went so the seating was not very friendly. Had to wait possibly 20m to get a dirty table . We didn’t have the best experience but I would give it a second chance in the future. Very friendly staff
New Wave Burrito is the ultimate fusion of burritos and classic 1980's style. Their unique flavor combinations will blow your mind and their large protions will fill your stomach. Their traditional Mexican sides are amazing but the Tetris shaped tater tots will change your life!
LONG LIVE NEW WAVE!!!
Large, delicious burritos with brilliant combinations of ingredients. Best non traditional burritos in Louisville. They're open late too.
When all is said and done, when we are conquered by a hostile foreign army, when the oceans swallow the coastline and all that is left are stories, tales, folklore and myths of the before times, may The Garbage Burrito be a beacon of light for future generations; a testament of what can be achieved by good, hardworking people on a rough and tumble highway we liked to call “Preston.”
Absolutely fantastic place, I live in Lexington Kentucky and every time I make my way over to Louisville I make sure to stop in and get something to eat here. Good service, good atmosphere, great food.
Unique menu. Fast and friendly service. Don't let the outside fool you - it's a gem, really! Amazing burritos and not over priced.
Wow. The burritos are massive but not overwhelming. Each bite had a lot of flavor and ingredients. I would definitely recommend
Good atmosphere should you eat in. Rather expensive in comparison to chipotle or quidoba. On par tastewise as well. I don't believe the flavor justifies the cost.
Go to this place and experience the magic. Then tell all your friends. Get the chips and queso con chorizo. You might spend a dollar more here than at Qdoba for the same amount of food but the ingredients are better.
My boyfriend is the pickiest eater and was very skeptical about this place. He loved it! The flavors mesh very well and the atmosphere is very chill.
The sign out front and free stickers are enough to warrant a 5 star review. But the food also happens to be really good. Especially the "vacation".
I am from out of town and tried this place for the first time. Been craving it every since. We decided we will make a trip to Louisville again soon just for this place. Yes, its THAT good. 😍🌯💖 …
Get the Clive on nachos if you're dining in. Find out what the weekly special is, cos they make some fantastic 🌯 🌯. The Thanksgivingrito maybe one of my favorite foods ever. …
Absolutely phenomenal food! Their homemade tortilla chips are amazing!! And their burritos are delicious
Came here to try the special and it was so good. I will definitely be back!!
These burritos are fire y'all. Chill atmosphere too. 7 pinball machines and a Pacman, record player with records, friendly service
Very interesting and different food, fair prices for the servings and if you get a chance ask for Danny as a server. He is very knowledgeable and comical at the same time
My new favorite. I really like the Vacation Burrito with a Gravelly Sprocket. he chorizo and tator tot combination is unique and goes down well with the Gravelly Sprocket.
Was disappointed with the steak burrito but the pork rinds and queso are worth it. The chorizo burrito was good. Didn't bring change but the pinball machines are cool
First time here. Great food. Big burritos! Cost is great for amount of food. Great job! I will return.
Ordered take out after a bowling tournament. The chicken burrito is very very good. Great place.
From the outside it looks like a hole in the wall, on the inside its awesome! Great twist on food, great place amd pinball machines! Parking wasnt rhe best but the place is worth it.
Try the plantains they are so delicious too bad they don't have enough parking in front of the establishment and also if you get a burrito Chicho Style don't wait to eat it because your pork rinds cracklin's go get soft after being under the heat of the meat for too long other than that I'll be back to try everything else on the menu
Cool spot, cool burrito, cool pinball, cool staff
Huge and unique burritos with a different special every week. Plus craft beer & pinball.
Stopped in one night with some friends who suggested it. Seriously some of the best food I've ever had. There's no place like this...I'm currently sad because it's Sunday night and I'm having cravings for this place and I have to wait until Tuesday. :(
Delicious, big, unique burritos. Quick service, despite a crowd. Great option for someone looking for something different and tasty.
love your food. will you all be opening up for lunch ever again?
Great fresh burritos. Cool laid back vide. Late night munchies fulfilling heaven. The burritos are amazing and the chips are home made.
Vacation or garbage burrito is absolutley fantastic. I had their special this week (germantown) and have to say one if the best burritos I have ever eaten.
Closest to California Burritos than any restaurant I been to on the east coast. It is a must stop and try place. Very good food and atmosphere.
The burritos are so filling that I haven't had a chance to try any of the other dishes. The mango habaniero cider pairs well with several of their burritos.
Thanksgiving Burrito sounded impossible to pull off. Thuoght it would be thanksgiving in a blender added to a burrito. However it was surprisingly great. Thumbs up guys. Will try the Basher when I come back.
Super friendly staff and amazing food! Great options of burritos and arcade games. Highly recommend for everyone
Always a great variety with a different "especial" burrito each week. Will not disappoint!
Best burrito restaurant I've ever been to... Out of probably hundreds!! Wish they had one in Lexington!
Burritos and Beer were very good 🇺🇸😎
Great burritos. Probably the best we have had. Didn't love the chips, they had a cheese dusting that was unexpected
I can't stop thinking about how good my burrito was...
Food is delicious. Lives up to the "new" because they had some great variations of ingredients that brought new tastes to burritos.
Really enjoyed this place! Food was good. Would have been better if food temperature was higher when getting to the table. Best mineral water!
Love this place the atmosphere, the food, the crew that works there. I try to go every week to support an amazing business like New Wave Burrito
Tall price for great burritos. Plus they have cool af pin ball machines from days of old.
Weird vibe, great food
Nice surprise because when I saw the outside I almost didn't stop. Prices a little high but the burrito, chips, & queso were really good.
Pretty good , the basher definately filled me up & when i have more time I eyed 1 of my favorite pinball games from back in the day.
Very big portions at a decent price. Excellently cooked and very tasteful recipes and the beer selection is top notch, love it!
Wow...really good creative burritos...definitely for those with an educated palate...must try...whole office is looking forward to Friday's which has been our designated New wave burrito day
This place has an awesome vibe! Their food is absolutely amazing and they have some of the best queso I have ever tasted!
Good enough I came back again. Way better than the other burrito shops who will not be listed.
Awesome representation of Louisville innovation. A must try for anyone. The Vacation is a ridiculous take on a breakfast burrito, but it is sooo good
Awesome spot for late-night burritos
Garbage burrito is always my go to . Super filling and tasteful
What a menu! Looks like a hole In the wall, don't be scared- it's awesome. Beer is served, good soda. And stand up PAC man. ! Get the queso and chips.
Creative, fresh burritos, great sides, only complaint is that it's a little cramped inside. Other than that, awesome place!
The lack of a beautiful interior in this place is fully compensated by the excellent taste of the food prepared here. Delicious!
The guy who looks like Nick is grouchy. The food however is amazing! Nick eat a damn burrito and up your customer service!
Service is amazing. Beer is great. Burritos are quick and on point. I mean, really. Great stuff guys. Check it out.
Never had a bad experience here. It's always amazing.
1. Super clean
2. Funky decor
3. Some of the best damn burritos I've ever had
Great atmosphere. Get there early to get your favorite burrito.
I don’t like giving negative reviews but was disappointed to pay $13 for a cold burrito (The Lemmy).
Got the vacation burrito.. really good! Had vegetarian options on the menu that I will try next time.
This place has some of the best burritos I've ever had. The Vacationer and The Tourist are my favorites.
I get off late & I can come by here for a beer & food before heading home. Everything is delicious, huge portions, great staff!
Really cool spot. The food was AMAZING and the vibe is really chill. Cool pinball machines and decent prices on drinks.
Very good! The staff was polite. The food was fixed quickly. And the food was amazing! Definitely recommend!
Not you're abuela's burritos. Very large with lots of unique choices. Worth going out of your way to try.
Best burrito I ever had honestly I'd say these are the best burritos in Louisville I like the Basher burritos the most
Loved it, burritos and sweet potato fries were excellent, only drawback is not a lot of seating.
Everything I have tried here I have loved. Their house made chips are my favorite. I highly recommend New Wave!!
Tasty!!! Super fast and yummy. Loved the water in reusable carafes. No straws!!! Thanks new wave.
Great burritos with an edgy, hipster twist. Lots of beer options and now some cool mixed drinks.
I would eat here every meal if I lived closer
Great food, nice retro atmosphere. Good beer selection if you're interested in that 👍 …
Food was good. Not the friendliest server but maybe it was an off day. I would go back for the Hooter.
Excellent burritos! I ate the traveler burrito but want to try more. I will most certainly be back for more.
This is a regular spot for me. I love those Basher nachos. I never knew I had a whole in my life till those nachos filled it.
Fun, funky and delicious. Food was delicious and they have pinball machines to play while you are there.
The food, especially the cream fries, was delish. I wish the dining room was open after 12a on Friday and Saturday. ..
The Garbage Burrito is really enough for 2 people. So filling and delicious!
Just tried the "rapture nachos".. "Heavenly".. Yeah i know cliche', but honestly they knocked it outa the park with these..
Once again, very well done!
Chorizo queso n chips are amazing, burritos are huge n with rotating special burritos that keep it interesting, good beer selection
Been drooling over the pictures of these burritos for months and was not disappointed. I was finally got a chance to go and I'm already wanting to go back.
Garbage burrito and the queso/salsa/guac combo appetizer was amazing! I'm a Texan and I was NOT at all disappointed.
Yep, this is the spot for good, unique burritos. Some food pinball machines to play while you wait too!
Since I moved to Louisville this one of the first an only places I've been eating at 🍽️ …
Love this place everything on the menu is delicious. The best tortilla chips in town.
Meat had a hint of cinnamon taste in it. Not sure where that came from. It was pretty good.
Burritos are spectacular! The Hooter is phenomenal and the Chorizo Caso is the best!
The food is great, new wave music is great...if you love burritos and the 80's, you'll love it!
Sevice was alright, guy was kind of rude. Food was fire tho
Small place with laid back attitude and good food. Not a place for a large group of people. But nice for smaller groups
The Basher, the pork was delicious!
Good food, friendly staff, not much atmosphere.
I can't get enough of this place. Little expensive but oh so worth it. Great food, great atmosphere.
Place was awesome and the burrito bowls are on point. Definitely will be back again.
Always the best non-traditional, off the wall burrito combinations! You guys are awesome!
They truly reinvent the burrito.... Without changing what a burrito is at its core. Just phenomenal. Hence the name "new wave".
Cheap, good burritos and very filling. Also old pinball machines. What more is there to ask for?
You want a burrito that's so good it make you want to slap your grandma. And it's the size of your head
excellent food. fair prices. great vibe. will return! most definitely!
A fantastic place to grab a bite, a beer, and play a few games of pinball. Friendly staff and a robust selection.
Super delicious! The raunchy ranchy Nachos are the bomb!! XD and all the burritos and A-MAZE-ING!!
Great place for a quick bite to eat. Food is delicious and I love to play the pinball machines!
Don't let the dicey front door and parking scare you. Great food, decent beer selection....you won't go home hungry!
Amazing burritos!! Very cool vibe. Service was super fast.
Food was good order at counter they bring it out to your table. Place is small.
Fresh food good beer great service open late...and pinball! What else does one need in an eatery?
The burritos were good, but the plantains were underwhelming. I thought they were going to be likes tostones.
Very very good burrito like $10 a burrito but taco Bell has spoiled you with their low prices
Was really good food. The menu is very Mexican food but what if when high
Cool atmosphere, professional and courteous service, and amazing food! I'll be back very soon.
A little more expensive than qdoba and those type shops, but WAAAAAY better quality food. These. Guys. Are. Excellent.
The food was good, but not so good that "I'll go out of my way to go back" good.
Sometimes can be very busy great food crappy waitresses and hostesses but that food is worth dealing with the people but I won't sit down inside of it I'd rather take it to go every time
Great food, and friendly service! The Vacation burrito is my favorite.
The chicken bacon rancharrito was the bomb. Look every week to see the next crazy tummy pleaser. Keep it up guys
Played Pinball while waiting on a Yummy Burrito to come out. I recommend The Basher and The Garbage Burrito.
The Vacation is all you need to know. Get it. They also have amazing chips and queso!
Good food, maybe a bit pricey but very trendy place with ventage pinball machines.
These burritos are about the size of a whole roll of paper towels.. your girlfriend would be impressed
Good food good customer service the beer wasn't all that cold
The best burritos in the Louisville area. Great service.
Awesome place with fantastic food. One of my favorite restaurants in Louisville.
I'm a big burrito fan and got The Hooter! Would definitely eat here again!
A little on the pricey side but holy hell the chorizo burrito is amazing.
I love it when i get a chance to eat here the burritos are huge!
Delicious, well priced, and they gave this girl all the sauce she could ask for!!!!!!
Nice small place. Nice small craft beer selection. Lots of food for the price.

This is my second trip just for the Queso con Chorizo, and it’s still awesome!
Great place food is excellent got a retro feel and i love the pinball machines
Excellent food and service, cool atmosphere with the vintage pinball machines.

Great flavors not spicy but delicious burritos
It is amazing. Huge portions of delicious food. A must eat.
Pretty good burrito! I will be back!
If anywhere makes a better burrito, I’ve never had it.

Great Burrito place! I got the Basher and it was excellent!
Exemplary! Another one of my favorites. I recommend The Garbage and a glass of Kombucha.
Nice and delicious twist on burritos. Thinking outside the box, and it works.

Great atmosphere and staff. Food was delicious!
Tasty burritos. Cold beer. Pinball. What else do you need?
Great burritos, great staff, excellent delivery times!
I guess if it's a wrapped in a tortilla it's a burrito. Lots of rice and non traditional fillings.
Food was really good. Owner is really nice.
