I Like going to Mary & John O'Bryan's for lunch and a couple of cold beers. They are one of the best little unknown fish joints in the city. Their fish sandwiches are cooked piping hot along with their fries and cold slaw. I have friends waiting in line to be taken to Mary and John's because they have heard from others who have been there. For all those who are following me on this site might think that I am a rather big person because I'm always mentioning food joints. Well, you are wrong I work out 45 minutes everyday. They have the best fish sandwich you will ever have in your life. It is a small mom and pop restaurant/bar that has been around my whole life. My mom is 90 and this is still the best fish she's ever had and gets a sandwich there regularly. Don't judge it by the looks of it... Don't miss out on their fish.

The BEST fish in town. My friend and I went in to specifically get an order of fish the people were so friendly and kind to us. They invited us to a birthday party that was in the back and they were also having karaoke we didn't know anyone there but we had a blast we met some new friends, they offered us birthday cake and we had very clean fun in a nice country bar my friend and I are two young African-American people... The people at the bar made us feel so welcome. I'm still talking about how much fun we had.

Great fish! I posted this 3 years ago. Today July 1st. 2021 I'm going to say they have the best fish sandwich in Louisville. I work 5 to 7 minutes away, by time I get back to work the fish is still hot, always been great in the past. I can't believe how good it always is. Take cash no cards. I'd give O'Bryans 10 stars if I could.

It's been updated in its decor inside and it was much needed! Very clean this visit. One cook and one waitress working HARD - thank you. Fish was hot and delicious. It was definitely more like the place long ago maybe better. Don't forget it's CASH ONLY. Definitely will return.

Very crowded and noisy. The waitress couldn't find a menu for me to take with me. I knew they had fish, so I just got a fish box for two to go. Fish was plentiful and good. Onion rings and slaw were good also. $23 for a box for two. It seems like a place were everybody knows everyone that comes in and out. But it was friendly.

O'Bryans has fish and stuff, but honestly, I think their serving alcohol has a lot to do with the "rave reviews" their fish gets. I've had their fish, battered cauliflower (in fact, pretty much everything is battered, how delightful) and I couldn't tell it was cauliflower. I'm sure they are nice people but their food has never been anything I felt happy that I ate. They're a friendly neighborhood bar and their patrons are fiercely loyal, so I wouldn't totally discount them. They're not glamorous, but they have karaoke and as I said, they're nice folks. So.

The is my go to fishing hole when I want GOOD fried fish. I Stopped by for some fish awhile ago and the lady that cooks the fish had already shut the fryer down for the day. She could have turned me away but she didn't. One hand washes the other. She took care of me so I returned the favor.

The Fish entree is ideally the best on the menu here at o'bryans they do not restock any item not regularly sold and the establishment . Hard working staff and hospitable service. The disappointment starts at the door. The dinning area is filthy looking and often doesnt smell like a place of food. The ceiling is caked w years of dust & cobbwebbs. Excellent! We were waiting for our car repairs at the Honda dealer next door, and an employee suggested this place for breakfast. It was pretty full, with friendly customers and staff. Coffee was free, and the breakfast platter was delicious. My eggs were cooked perfectly, and everything came out hot.
