I’ve been here a few times, not a huge fan of the sodas. Chicken quality is great, very tender and consistent! I really like the spiked honey sauce. Today I tried out the chicken and waffles which was a pretty awesome meal before my day of rock climbing. I would have liked more than one pickle slice since the sauce was spicy, maybe next time.

I love this restaurant it is good and the service is great. I have been here multiple times, and the quality of the food is the same. They are known for the tenders, and you are able to choose the type of heat level that you may want you tenders to be, and you can even get them original with no heat if you like that. They also provide dipping sauce, and they have a variety of those that are good but have the traditional flavors as well. The atmosphere is nice, and they have multiple tvs around to watch, so if you like sports, you are covered. They also have an outdoor patio to sit at when it is nice. If you are in the mood for chicken, check this out.

Great service. Fresh hot food. I had tenders with ‘tweener’ spice level. I like spicy foods and found that choice perfect. I had spicy honey dip that was very complementary. I ordered bourbon slush. I enjoyed it but didn’t taste great deal of bourbon in it. I like bourbon heavy drinks though. First time visit. I’ll come back to try more.

First time coming here, definitely will be back we enjoyed the food very much. Got the grilled Chicken tenders and garlic parmesan fries and my husband got the 2 jumbo thighs and loved them. Try the fired pickles they are awesome.

First timer! This place is very similar to Hattie B’s. Service was good, the young lady that took our order was friendly and helpful. She explained a few things on the menu to us which was helpful. I ordered the 3 piece chicken tenders- heat level “Ella’s fav” with fried pickles and garlic parmesan fries. Ella’s fav is a mix between flavor & heat. This was perfect, the tenders truly had both. They were freshly made and juicy! The fried pickles are new (according to a sign) which were great and the garlic parm fries had the flavor but were cold. I was able to speak with the manager about it (not complaining but just feedback) and he was very nice and accommodating about it even though it was ok. I really appreciated that! There’s ice tea was pretty freaking delicious. Definitely will be back and Thank you for the kind hospitality!

This is quintessential hot chicken. I've lived in Tennessee for six of the past ten years, and the hot chicken at Joella's matches ANYTHING you can get there. The spices are deep and wonderfully complex, and the hear levels can accommodate anyone's preferences and tolerance. They also have wonderful fries and the collard greens are amazing; It's hard to choose which one you want. They also have an excellent house-made vegan chicken that is a great option for the plant-based among us. You can't go wrong with Joella's, it's a local classic for a reason!

Always a good time here. Their tenders drenched in tweener sauce with fries is what I always get. It's very consistent. Their sodas are unique but the sweet tea is the best out there. 8/26/2022 Update: they have taken their unique sodas away & replaced them with Coca Cola. In my opinion, they lose a star for that. Coca Cola has the worst line of sodas & because of that I am removing a star.

Tried this place for the 1st time tonight & it wasn’t bad at all. Good prices too. Only complaint for me is the chicken was very soggy. The skin wasn’t crispy at all. & the sauces were little bland. But I will give them another try again!

Amazing food! I have only eaten here about 3 times so far (soon to be much more), and I have never been disappointed. The flavors are amazing, the portion sizes are great, and for what you are getting the prices aren't bad. It's hard to eat other fast food chicken after getting used to Joella's. Not to mention they have great service- one time I forgot to hit submit on a pickup order, and realized when I got to the restaurant. I hit submit and it was ready in two minutes! The workers here are wonderful!

Had a delicious dinner tonight. The staff was very friendly. The place was busy but even being that busy, it was clean and well stocked. I noticed the manager out working as hard as everyone on his staff. The lines went quickly and the food also can out fast and hot. Our tenders were on point. Someone in front of me ordered the banana pudding so we got it too. It did not disappoint. They said it is made fresh daily.

One of the best chicken spots in Louisville, I’ve loved it since moving here 6 years ago. Love the pimento cheese fried chicken sandwich. Dustin is an excellent manager and always makes the customer feel welcome and valued. Great chicken and great staff. Worth the trip every time

Obviously the chicken sandwiches are AMAZING, but when out with the family and trying to eat healthier, it is difficult to find TASTY options. Well thank you Joella for your Kale crunch salad! It’s is a LOT of salad with perfectly balanced flavors, esp with grilled chicken. Will absolutely be returning again. Finally a restaurant the entire family loves. The vegan chicken patties are pretty yummy! And you get 2, which is great for sharing, or leftovers. But they need MORE vegan sides!!! The fries are super yummy! Next time I crave fries, I'm going here. Really crispy and potato-y.

I 1000% recommend Joella’s Hot Chicken! The food was excellent. The staff was friendly and courteous, and the manager/owner was above and beyond what he wants his customers to experience. Not only will I come back again and again, but I will go out of my way and drive the extra 30 minutes from Okolona/Preston Hwy to Middletown just to eat at this place. (But if you want to open one out in the Okolona/ Gene Snyder area…I’ll be your biggest marketing tool!)

Wow! What an amazing place! Starting with the ambiance, it is perfect. Ample with plenty of room to social distance and follow guidelines. Clean place and smells fresh. Some 10+ big TVs playing sports. I went on Saturday so it was perfect, plenty of NCAA football on TVs. You can also choose to eat outside as it is a great set up too. The service is flawless, professional, quick and friendly. From the moment of taking my order to the moment of delivering it to my table. Order is delivered within 5 minutes. Freshly cooked and excellent portions. The crew cleans tables frequently and I found the restroom to be very clean too. Easy parking in the plaza. So an easy walk from anywhere you park. The most amazing part of my experwas the food. Very rarely one finds simple French fries that rival McDonald's, except that these are in an elevated level with garlic and parmesan. Delicious! The Kale crunch salad was super as well. Perfect amount of parmesan cheese on it. It was awesome. The star of the day was the chicken. Perfect seasoning, I will go up one level in hotness on my next visit. It was juicy and with just enough crunch on the breading. PERFECTION. The prices are excellent, a great value meal thst is freshly made and extremely satisfying. I will find myself here very often! ❤ #joellashotchicken

Had an awesome experience here. The food was amazing. We tried the Jumbo Tenders plate with the Kale crunch salad and Parm Garlic Fries in the “Tweeners” heat level. So good. Still plenty of kick. We also tried the Heat Variety Pack of tenders which has one tender in each heat level. Really good but beware of the spiciest one. It is really really hot. The Mac and cheese is good as well. It meets the typical expectation of what you would think it should taste like. We also had the chicken and waffles. Delicious. They have plenty of seating. The restaurant has a great vibe and the staff was very friendly. One of the workers even wished us a good day as we were leaving.

Just had a great lunch including Ella‘s fav chicken tenders and mashed potatoes with gravy, also on my usual lunch are the garlic parm fries. Always great service from the employees and management. I prefer this Middletown larger location. Even a better deal, they are offering their special for 5.99, usually 7.99 (through the month of January)!!! Don’t forget their jar of desserts including chocolate peanut butter and cookies and cream, along with others! They are also following COVID-19 guidelines by offering hand sanitizer and blocking off every other table

A friend recommended Joella's, so we decided to stop in after leaving the airport. I ordered the quarter chicken (white meat) with two sides. I ordered the chicken hot (as I didn't know if I wanted to start off with "Fire In The Hole" level first thing) with collard greens and the kale crunch salad. The chicken was superb. The chicken breast was not dry at all. The breading and sauce tasted spectacular. However, I think I will try the "Fire In The Hole" next time. The "hot" was mildly spicy. The greens were really good and so was the kale salad. The star of the meal (other than the chicken) was the piece of white bread under the chicken. It had soaked up some hot sauce and was evidently slathered in butter (which I didn't notice due to the aforementioned sauce). I tried the Boylan Sodas diet cola: not so good.

Only been here twice both times had a great time. This last time I had to ask if there was a dairy in one of the sauces. The manager Mackenzie didn't know off the top of his head but I told him that is ok because I can take some dairy pills. After finishing the transaction he went out of his way and checked with the cooks for me even though I was ok with taking dairy pills. Went above and beyond. Will go here again for the food and service.

If you like Tabasco sauce you'll love this place, if not then your choices are limited. The prices are high, it was about 17.50 for an adult meal and a kids meal. Really liked the Mac n cheese. The fountain drinks are unique and they had cherry birch beer.

First time visiting and I loved it! We don't have these in Wisconsin so we wanted to stop in to try something new. They were very fast for our dine in order and were also fast for the carryout we placed too. I got the chicken tenders (hot) with parmesan garlic fries and macaroni and cheese. The tenders were great, they were moist and definitely hot which I appreciated. I thought the macaroni was good and the fries were good too. I just don't think the parmesan garlic seasoning was great. It didn't really add much flavor. We also got the nutella poppers. The batter they used for them is similar to a funnel cake. I thought they were ok but probably wouldn't order them again. All in all it was a great experience!

I’m so happy that I decided to have dinner here tonight. There were several choices but This is the best place. As I entered I decided to eat at the bar. I was greeted by Paul. I can tell right away that Paul loves working here and knows his chicken. He knows everything about this restaurant. I couldn’t decide what to eat but Paul gave me a suggestion and I’m so glad that I tried the jumbo chicken tenders and they were delicious. I went with Ellis Fav(Heat) which was perfect for me and then he threw in a couple of sides my favorite was the pimento Ranchero. I will definitely come back here.

Hadn’t been to Joellas in a few month… decided to give them another try. Food was amazing. There was a slight problem with my order (they had to make a new batch of legs). Ehhh. It was okay. Tried the new “ 3 sliders”. Bread was ice cold , tenders were extremely small. Got the tweener heat level and couldn’t tell the difference between that and Ella Favs. Oh and they’re the same price as the original 3 tenders. The original are twice as big. Do yourself a favor and don’t order the sliders. Not worth it.

Always amazing. Their chicken is seasoned and cooked to perfection. Their hottest spice isn't really super hot, but it's pretty hot while still enjoyable. My wife says that there's something wrong with me though, since I like eating raw sliced jalapenos. Lastly, if you don't get the pie in a jar, why are you going there?

Joella's food is so good! The chicken tenders are seasoned to your particular taste and there are multiple dipping sauces from which to choose. The sides do not disappoint! Good variety all the way around. Also, the brand of soft drinks that they serve are so different and delicious that I always get a soft drink when I eat at Joella's. Love Joella's and I believe that you will too!

This location has decent parking pretty nice sized building. The food is always wonderful, specially if you get the mac & cheese. They have specialty soda. The staff always seems to be willing to help and are pretty friendly. Oh yeah chickens pretty good too!

We hired Joella’s for our wedding this past September 2019 and had an amazing experience! Not only were the caterers wonderful to work with, the food was out of this world! Our guest were and still are raving about how delicious the food was, especially the creamy mac and cheese! The quality of the chicken was so tender and juicy!! Love this particular location. Have been to a few others and they're not as fresh / good. Specifically order from this location because of the quality and service. They've been super friendly, quick and everything tastes great. Not a fan of the Mac and cheese, a little dry for my liking but there's lots of other side choices. The server recommended a beer choice my first visit as I hadn't had any of their selection before and he was very Knowledgeable about each choice, had great recommendations for spice level for my chicken based off my preferences. Brought my wife and daughter back 2nd time, they loved it, added my other daughter and son in law 3rd visit and they thought it was fantastic. Been great every time since. Wish the one in Clarksville IN. Would get with the program so I didn't have to drive to Middletown to get the awesome food, but I will.

Solid chicken place. The tenders are a generous size with lots of meat and good breading. I got the 2nd-hottest heat level, and I wasn't blown away by it. It has a subtle heat to it, but it didn't have any sauce on it to really bring our the flavor. I also tried the greens with bacon (didn't taste it see much bacon), and the Redskin mashed potatoes with the kicked up gravy (very tasty combo. Heat and flavor of the gravy was a great Touch). I've heard there are other Hot Chicken spots in Louisville that may be better, so I would check them out first before coming back here.

First time here. Excellent overall. I guess if you’re going to do one thing, (Chicken), do it well. Well they do it great. Sauces and the Chicken has great flavor and spiced nicely. The sides were excellent as well. Other reviews cited them as small. They do look small, we couldn’t finish ours though. I had a spiked slushy, very good. Service was great.

Tasty. Liked the Birch beer soda. The spiked honey has a good level of sweet to heat. The jumbo tenders are filling and well-cooked. I enjoyed my Dixie-style sandwich, with the addition of the sweet vinegar slaw. Not a big fan of shoe-string fries, but they were crispy and tasty with the addition of garlic and parmesan.

But only 3 stars because the chicken was so hard that it hurt your teeth to chew, sadly. :( We have had the chicken before at the St. Matthew's location and it was good, so we were looking forward to celebrating my father-in-law's 50 years being in the army here. Great chicken! I had "fire in the hole" chicken. Loved it! The Kale salad was good. The birch beer was amazing! If you don't like extreme heat I recommend selecting a less hot option on the chicken. They actually make you sign a waiver because it's so hot.

I'm writing purely to inform others of the change to the spice level. I love spicy food, and the FIRE-IN DA-HOLE heat level had never disappointed me. Several times I had ordered this in the past and almost couldn't finish it! I convinced two friends who also love spicy food to make the 30-minute drive to Joella's to put their spicy tolerance to the test. The chicken was slightly spicy at best. I tried to find where any changes to the spice level were noted on the menu and weren't able to find it. Just know if you haven't had the FIRE-IN DA-HOLE in a while, it's likely much less spicy than you remember. I would put it below what the previous HOT heat level was. My two friends were very disappointed. The chicken and sides, however, were delicious though.

First off, Joella's is a great place. They have great fried chicken and there is no disputing that. However, over the past little while they're quality has gone down. Chicken that would fall apart and flavor that explodes in you mouth has fallen to pull apart chicken and everything tasting the same. My other complaint is that they have take out all of their draft beers. Sitting at the bar, sipping a sudsy, and eating spicy chicken IS Joella's to us. Hopefully the owners pull it together and the quality improves. I would hate to see this place go anywhere.

However, when I called I was met with a prompt and friendly apology by manager, Dawson Cravins and told he would make it right. I came back to find him bussing tables and tending to customers then he came over and got me fresh fries and gave me a VIP pass. This is the kind of service and management that should be desired in all restaurants everywhere. Really appreciate you Dawson, this is a guy worth keeping around and moving up Joella’s.

Great chicken. I always get the tenders with extra fire in da hole sauce. They are always nice and it looked like all the staff was wearing masks. It's hard for patrons to eat and wear a mask but they had the tables spread out a good ways and are making the best of it. Highly reccomend.

I ordered a quarter dark with Ella's fav sauce, broccoli slaw, and fries. Both sides were good, but my chicken was very overcooked, to the point that it was bitter. Never should have left the kitchen this way. $10 was a bit steep of a price as well. Nice atmosphere but probably won't be back due to the core of the meal being unsatisfactory.

Food was good but the menu said jumbo tennders... I really doubt they need to called them jumbo. The tenders are served on top a piece of white bread and this is used to gauge the portion sizes in the kitchen. It is just an okay place.... Nothing to drive past any other chicken joint to get there.

The food taste great but other than the French fries, the sides are kinda small. Also, this is a self serve restaurant so keep that in mind when you're standing in line to place your order. You'll be filling your own cups. You should probably consider leaving a tip if you don't plan on throwing your trash away and returning the tray.

This was my and my co-workers first time at Joella's Hot Chicken and we're glad we dined here. The chicken was tender and dipped in whatever sauce you wanted, the fries were nice & crisp, and the fountain drinks were exquisite; you also got a small amount of another dipping sauce (honey mustard, Bleu cheese, BBQ, etc.) It was a tad bit expensive, nothing too outrageous. The lady I ordered from was kind of rude, but I told her it was my first time here. As a result I didn't tip her, however her coworker was nice. I'll most likely eat here again; My rating: 4/5 stars.

Simply Fantastic! I ordered Joella's via DoorDash for delivery. The delivery took 1 1/2 hours AFTER it was picked up from Joella's but that's another story. I had the Pimento Chicken sandwich (fried). Even after it arrived cold and I had to microwave it, it was still probably the best chicken sandwich I've ever had, and it was only slightly more expensive than a Chick-Fil-A sandwich! Seriously that sandwich was the perfect taste, texture, heat, cheese level, crispiness, the bun was good, not too messy and good sized. The fries were also great even cold, and the Apple Pie in a jar is so good it almost smells like a candle when you open it. I cannot recommend this place enough, at least for that sandwich.

My first time here and the Dixiechicken sandwhich is really good with the slaw, and the spiked honey sauce was perfect, not to hot and not to sweet. The food was ready quickly, and we were served our on the patio. My only issue was with the menu.The drinks are not included in the combo meals. So you have to remember to ask for that or you will end up back in line as we did. Also they have Boylan Soda which is more of a craft soda with cane sugar, which can be a little on the sweet side. No Coke or Pepsi products. Over all good experience, and good portions.

I'm always game for Joella's. The chicken is tasty, but be warned you will need a drink because it can be somewhat salty. The portions are sufficient so you don't feel hungry after your visit, and they have their own line of beverages. You place your order and they bring your food to your table. I wish it were less pricey than it currently is, but that's neither here nor there. My boyfriend really enjoys their chicken and waffles. The waffles are fresh and full of buttery goodness. Needless to say, Joella's is a sometimes food, but the experience and food is always excellent.

We love Joelle’s chicken. The location on Frankfort is our favorite. The chicken is flavorful and they have great sides. We love the parm garlic fries, the collards and sometimes we treat ourselves the Nutella poppers. Unfortunately, this location falls short of the Frankfort location. We stopped ordering the green beans because on more than two occasions they looked dried out like they had been sitting around to long or under a heat lamp to long. Recently Ella’s fave has not been as dark or flavorful. We visited the other location because we thought maybe it had just been a while and we remembered wrong but that was not the case. Also, after revisiting the other locations we feel the Mac and cheese isn’t as creamy and delicious. This Joelle’s is not BAD but they are not as consistent nor are they as up to par with the other location.

I recently ordered Joella's for a 40th birthday party for my husband . I was serving about 80 people and wanted to order my husbands favorite foods. I was surprised how easy it was to order through Joella's. Their catering menu was simple and priced well. They even worked with me on customizing it for my party. The day of the party Justin (the delivery guy) was not only good looking, but his customer service was on point. He set everything up for me, and didn't have to lift a finger. Many of my guests had never tried Joella's and they are now big fans! I received so many compliments on the food on the day of and several texts days later asking for the name of the caterer. We stopped to eat some lunch. We both got two pieces of fried Chicken 1) white meat 1) dark meat 1) got the mashed potatoes and green beans the other got french fries and Cole slaw. Both of our chicken was very close to being burnt. The meat was dry and had the taste of being burnt. The mashed potatoes were cold. They took them back and heated them up in the microwave oven and returned them. The portions sizes were of average size. They have ice tea sweaten and unsweatened, lemonade, and sodas. The sodas have odd names and they have free refills. Would I return, yes I would give them and give them a second chance. Everyone can have a bad day.

Quick and tasty. I was on a work and play trip to Kentucky. My buddy was the impromptu tour guide and I wanted to try everything Kentucky that we dont have in MN and this was on the schedule. I was very impressed with Joella's Hot Chicken when I visited there for the first time a couple weeks ago. Their chicken is delicious! Just beware of the "fire in the hole" temperature. I LOVE spicy food but I'm afraid the fire in the hole level was just a little too lip burning fir me, it was so spicy I was unable to taste the chicken. All the sides items were delicious. Food was great. Boylan sodas on the fountain are some of the best sodas I've ever tasted. The dipping sauces have great flavor - our favorites are JoJo and the Cheerwine BBQ. The Fire in the Hole flavor (the hottest they offer) will leave your mouth burning for about half an hour. I received this once by mistake somehow when I ordered the Hot. Luckily I enjoy spicy food so it wasn't an issue, but my wife unknowingly ate the pickle on my chicken and said it left her mouth burning just from touching my chicken. The broccoli slaw is a favorite of ours now. We'll be back for sure.

Made the mistake of getting food from here to go: food was fantastic but damn, it's messy in the car! :) Looked like a really nice, Nashville Hot styled chicken restaurant. Had a decent number of beer taps with a full bar and Boylan sodas on tap! Enjoyed their Fried Chicken & Pimento sammie with garlic and parm fries. Had my chicken with their hot sauce and it was the right balance of heat and flavor. Enjoyed it immensely - looking forward to when they open their location up here in Cincinnati :)

This is the second great local chain from Tony Palambino (Boombozz Pizza being the first). It was my first taste of hot chicken and it won me over. You order at the counter from a simple menu and the service is fast. There is a big beer selection at the bar and the place has a rustic 'chicken shack' ambience. The Dixie Chicken Sandwich is my favorite. I get it 'hot', which is PLENTY hot for me. This is a strip mall location with lots of parking. The place gets crowded but the line moves fast.

It’s a franchised hot chicken house. You can actually order chicken, tenders, wings or even waffles and wings. It’s ok, somewhat overrated and easy to mess up your order if you haven’t ordered there before. Can be greasy at times. Family friendly, service is friendly.

If you like hot chicken, this place is about as close to Nashville as you're gonna get. I've heard horror stories about the cleanliness of this chain but I've never experienced an issue at this location. My only complaint is that sometimes the chicken seems overly brined/salty, but that's a personal preference.

Really love Joella's. Great for vegetarians. They use a Gardein type of soy patty which is very, very similar to chicken. Not as hot as Royal's, and a bit sweeter. Still very good. I eat here probably once a month.

My new favorite chicken place! KFC and Cane's can take a back seat. Hot chicken is where it's at. Sides are delicious and the chicken is hot. Ella's fave is a great heat level for people just dipping their toes. Tweener is a little more adventurous. Hot will let you know you're breathing. Fire-in-da hole will get your attention..... Joella's is hit or miss. When it hits, it's some of the best fried chicken around. When it misses, the chicken is dry and not great. Service is usually pretty good and food is ready in a fair amount of time

My frames of reference are Royals and Hattie B's...It's not bad, but it could be (a lot) better. There was no crisp to the skin on the dark quarter, and the fingers weren't as moist as they should have been. The Alabama white sauce was heavy mayo base (I'd drink Royals white sauce with a straw). Mac-n-cheese was fine. Also, PSA: they were deconstructing their taps! Not sure if reducing or moving to cans/bottles.

Joella's is stellar. The only negative is the long lines during peak hours. The 'tweener is my favorite heat level. Frankly they do such a great job with the strips that I see no reason to pick anything else. Louisville just needs more locations to solve the long line problem. 3-5 is the slow time btw.. they have specials during that time as well.
