Relaxed atmosphere, plenty of games (arcade, connect four, Jenga, foosball), great food. I had the Tavern Burger and it was delicious along with spicy green beans. Also ordered beer cheese with a pretzel that tasted just like those from a stadium. Greatly appreciated the music selection as well.

Let’s be real it’s a bar, with the best bar food you’re gonna find, games (they’re free just bring friends) local neighborhood hotspot if you live in the area you’re gonna see people you know. Solid place any night of the week. The staff is on point.

A fun place for dinner with family and friends or just to hang out since there are many games to play with and some of them come in a huge size for an extra fun like Jenga and Connect 4. The place offers variety of food, great beers and margarita!

This place had a very nice atmosphere. You literally have to walk up a hill to get to this place. Inside the building, it has a very old feel. It is kind of creeky but in a good way. From what I remember, there is seating and then a few stairs with more seating. There is also quite a bit of memorabilia on the walls. As far as food and drinks, I got a couple of beers and chicken wings. They were both very good. Overall, this place was a fun little low-key place on a hill that had very good food, or least that I enjoyed.

This is a great bar to have a good time with friends, drink, eat and play games. The service is good, the food even better! I like that the food doesn't taste like "typical bar food". They offer trivia and recently a Bourbon themed bingo. If you're looking for a fun night with friends, check it out!

Enjoyed the atmosphere, food, and the drinks. Had the tavern burger which was solid and hit the spot after a good workout session. The drinks are a bit cheaper here too compared to across the street. Usually does get pretty busy though! So be careful about that. But it's always fun to do some of the oversized games that are around.

This was one of my favorite bars while in Louisville for 2 weeks. The atmosphere is great, could have stayed there all night. Felt completely chill. The chicken and waffles were great and that bourbon sauce they serve with it is freaking awesome. Happened to be free arcade games on Monday so that was great too.

There is nothing positive things to say about Hilltop tavern. The service was above and beyond what you would expect. Erin was our server and she was amazing. The food was so good! Everything we ordered was cooked perfect and the chicken wings were the right amount of smoky. Can't wait to go back!

The best fries in Louisville, hands down. I'm at this bar probably four times a week. It is my go to for any occasion. Everything I have ever had on the menu is good. The bartenders are so nice and the food is amazing and comes to the table fast. It's the perfect place to hang out with friends or even grab some food on the way home from work. It's my favorite place in Louisville.

My favorite bar in Louisville. I’ve been coming here for years and I think it has the perfect atmosphere. It has plenty of space/seating and volume to have a conversation with friends. There’s also all kinds of great games (arcade, gaint jenga, board/card games). The prices are fair as well.

Food was great. Had mac n cheese balls as an app, solid choice. Split the beer cheese burger and a pulled pork sandwich with my wife, and they were on point. Got mac n cheese and potato salad as sides, mac n cheese great pot as to salad ok (was told by a friend it wasn't mustard based, it was...). Good beer. Good service. Will be back.

Pricing was fair, variety was great, and major kudos for the few (rare) arcade games inside! It’s getting a 3 from me because a particular bartender was incredibly stand-offish when all I wanted to do was pay for my beer. Apparently, my experience isn’t an isolated incident.

Very cool local spot. The prices are extremely reasonable. I particularly enjoyed the atmosphere and games. Large connect 4. A couple arcade games, mega janga, and foosball. The food was not amazing but you normally don’t go to places like this for the food. The jalapeño poppers were more like tiny fried balls filled with sauce, not spicy and no jalapeño. I would go here regularly for drinks if I was a local.

It's a homely dive bar but there was a good crowd. Bar tenders were fast and curteous. This would be a great place to watch a game or grab a drink with friends in a relaxed atmosphere. The bar area isnt very big but there's a large second room with tables.

Award-winning BBQ is the name of the game at this local favorite. Great food at low prices, full bar, don't miss the chicken and waffles with sweet bourbon syrup or the southwest bean burger. Expect a crowd on weekends but don't let that deter you - it's worth the wait.

Great Atmosphere.. very eclectic. Rather warm and welcoming. Warm colors and unique diner/bar feel. Outfitted with lota of decorations and a bar that had a pretty good crowd. Many places to sit. Bars booths and tables. They had board games and connect four and foosball. Even two arcade cabinets. Sadly the Simpsons game looked like some retro basket ball game. The staff was very polite and also welcoming. Though busy, they made you feel valued. Bar was fully staffed making sure everyone is taken care of. Even offer tableside service. Though, I didn't have any drinks aside the free ice cold water, the bar looks fully stocked with plenty of options. They even offer tabs. I on the other hand did order food and if there is any take away, the Mac and Cheese is by far the best I've had outside of making it my own. It was creamy and fresh. I swear it's infused with jalapenos. Its delicious and worth the travel for this alone. I look forward to coming back, its a cozy place that's welcoming. Bring a few buddies and relax with games, great good and company of all sorts.

Hilltop Tavern is my favorite place in town. The drinks are reasonably priced and they have a great selection of craft beers and sweet cocktails too. I recommend the fruit vodka infusions. The menu has been recently revised, and includes great pub food such as beer cheese burgers, fries, chili, etc. I like how they've put a twist on classic dishes such as mac and cheese fritters and the meatloaf sandwich. They've recently added a salad, which is a welcome addition.This is a great place to enjoy a drink on the patio and people watch, or for a game of ping pong and dinner inside. Hilltop's wait staff and servers are always warm and friendly, and you can't beat the neighborhood atmosphere!

Came here after moving to Clifton a month ago on the recommendation of a friend. One of the owners, Mike, waited on us and made us feel right at home. The Chicken & Waffles (with bacon) was delicious and a deal for only $8. The Beercheese Bacon pretzel burger is taste-tactic and a heart attack waiting to happen (but in a good way). Great, relaxing place to come and hang out. No stuffy atmosphere. It's loud, but not annoying. A great neighborhood pub.

Before I begin, I must note that this establishment is owned and operated by family. Bias is not intentional. Hilltop Tavern is a welcome addition to the up and coming lower Frankfurt avenue dining scene. A bat first, the accompanying bites are worth sticking around for… hell, they're worth showing up for. From chicken and waffles to a traditional Kentucky Hot Brown, Hilltop has quality comfort food down to a perfect science. I've meandered through the lot of it, and there's not a single menu item that I would avoid. OH! Try the pretzel with beer cheese. Life changing. Or the beer cheese burger… mind altering. Did I mention the endless beer selection? With rotating specials, you're surely to find a beverage or three of your liking.

Their beer selection rotates pretty consistently, so definitely worth repeat visits if not just for the new beers, but for the Foosball and the overall great atmosphere.

Solid sports/game/neighborhood bar. Don't go here if you're looking for a gastropub ambiance. This is a spot akin to Cheers. If you go a few weeks in a row you'll start to recognize the regulars. I go here to watch big games and grab a quick casual drink/app often.

This is an excellent place to eat, drink and just hang out. The decor is awesome because they sell local artists work and display it on all their walls. The food is amazing and the prices make it even better. Also you couldn't have better service then the wait staff and bartenders. Hilltop is one of the best neighborhood bars in Louisville. There's a modest beer selection, some creative house cocktails, and a simple but delicious food selection (btw the chicken and waffles are perfect). They regularly host events, ranging from bingo to pint nights to movie nights. There are a few games to play (foosball and giant Jenga), plus two arcade machines with tons of games. And the employees are amazing! Not only are they great servers, cooks, and bartenders, but they all seem really "down to earth." I'd happily get a beer with every single one of them. The employees make Hilltop the great tavern that it is.
