Typical Mexican restaurant with lots of choices. Quick, cheerful service. Definitely recommend the tacos asada!

The food was fine. Similar to most of the other Mexican restaurants in town. The service started out fine. They took our order really fast and half the food came out right away but 2 of the kids meals did not. Our server was nowhere to be seen for 5-10 minutes while 2 of the kids waited. When he did come back he asked how everything was neglecting to notice 2 of our kids didn't have their food. It took about 10 more minutes and the food finally made it out. No drink refills, and we had to almost go to the cashier to get our bill because we couldn't find our server. It was a little frustrating. For years, El Nopal, Los Aztecas and other offered good food, fast and pretty good service. This was not the experience we had here this time.

I have visited this place several times myself over the years. I have personally never had any issues with the food or service. I tend to normally get the same thing and my go to item is the Pollo Poblano. I love their chips and salsa as well and I enjoy it most when we dine in.

It’s the best Mexican Restaurant in Louisville I visited so far. The food is good and affordable. They are very generous with their servings. They also have a nice place to eat outside and listen to live music. The waiters are friendly.

My family and I stopped in twice within 2 days. We don’t live there anymore, but we stop by when we’re in town. The food is always great, and it comes out fast. I had to take our chips to the front counter to get more on 2 occasions, we would call out to the waiters who didn’t even look our direction. After our second meal, we walked up to the hostess to mention our troubles. On the way we saw 2 waiters on their phones, and we had to tell the hostess that we were there because she was on her phone too.

I called the night before to place a catering order for 23 people. When I got there they had the order basically ready to go and the food was nice and hot! Multiple workers walked the food out to my car and made sure everything was bagged up nicely. High quality staff and food for a great price.

We called 30 minutes before with a group of 16 to see if they could seat us. They were very accommodating and were able to get us in and seated quickly. Our servers were great. They were friendly, helpful, and fast. The food was fresh, hot, and delicious! We love El Nopal!

Service was great, food was good, ample portions, and fairly priced for a table of 3. Its location may be difficult to find, its behind other buildings. But with GPS, and address, we found our way. It was worth it. We all agreed to return, I'm sure we will find it easily next time

I recently moved to the area and in the early goings I stuck to some of the more well known, national restaurant chains. No complaints there, but I'm so glad I found this place. I ordered take-out the other day and what can I say? The food was fresh and flavorful, generous portions. The salsa, the pico de gallo had tremendous flavor. And the tortilla chips? I could eat them plain, they're that good. But when you put everything together, you just get a good authentic Mexican meal. They also have a pretty extensive menu (great vegetarian options as well) and I look forward to trying some different dishes. I think I've found my "go to" Mexican restaurant in Louisville.

I've never sat down and eaten here, but I always ordered food to go, since I live so close. The management is friendly, attentive, and hospitable. The owner is a really cool guy. The food is superb, and it's authentic Mexican cuisine. The food is actually spicy, the kind of clear-your-sinus-so-you-can-breathe-again spicy, and it has *so* much flavor to it. The wait is never long for my food. I can't get enough of those little mints at the front, They're addicting!

EXCELLENT CUISINE! The wife, our family gourmand, recommended here, and it was perfect. Instant seating (for a Friday night?), with excellent service by waiter, who explained our menu options. We love Nopal! We eat there at least twice a week. Jose is wonderful and always makes you feel welcome. The food is consistently good. We have several friends that eat there several times a week including a group of at least 10 people that have dinner every wed night. Love the new patio too. Nice addition. Fajita tacos to die for.

I've been going to to this place since a child, I'm sitting here now polishing off a frozen margarita in fact. My family and friends go every week to get together. My dad's 60th birthday was held here. So, I might be biased, but its the best Mexican place in the world. Everything is fantastic, its fast if you want it to be, friendly service, great good, great prices. Check it out and thank me.

Been a few times. It's a decent local chain, but our service was not great the last time. My wife ordered a vegetarian dish, but received the chicken. She had to then wait another 15 minutes for them to remake the dish. The mild salsa isn't spicy, but is so bland that it just tastes like pureed tomatoes. My veggie quesadilla was good though.

This is the best restaurant in the area, I love Jose (the owner of this El Nopal) he is friendly and always makes us feel at home when were there. My family and I eat there at least once a week and every time we get excellent service, and quite often we request our favorite waiter Marlo, he is fast efficient and always checks on us, service here is never lacking. Absolutely Love this place, would (and have) recommend all people looking for a nice restaurant with quality service

Common Mexican restaurant. Normally I have given this place a five star rating but this time I have given it a four star rating. There was just something off about the service to the table. The food was good and hot but the service was not attentive this particular evening. Wasn’t a very busy restaurant it must’ve just been the day. But will definitely be going back again

El Nopal has been a neighborhood restaurant for me for over 20 years. Over time the decor and recipes have changed, but it has stayed a consistent choice for lunch or dinner. The prices are affordable, the portion sizes are excellent and the staff is quick and attentive. I love the #16 Dinner Combo.

I like the El Nopal on Westport Road it's been there for a while they're salsa is hotter than the one in Crestwood the one I usually go to i just wonder though about the chicken sometimes it tastes like its leftover or not so fresh i always get the chicken fajitas.

I usually only write positive reviews. I'm unsure what time we arrived at the restaurant. None of the employees mentioned closing at any time. We were never told the kitchen was closing nor were we told that the bar was closing. We ordered drinks and appetizers. We asked for the following things that we never received:. more salsa, saucers (for the chips and appetizers). I told the server we didn't like the very bland potatoe taquitos. She never offered to bring us something else or give us a discount on it. Then she brought our check without asking if we wanted anything else. When we asked for another round of $8 a piece drinks she told us bar closed. We asked please since she had never told us about a "last call for alcohol". No was her answer. We have been to other El Nopal restaurants. This is not what I was expecting based on my experiences at other El Nopal locations.

.me and my son did carry out 1 nite in the area..i cannot eat in and we lived far..so we pulled over by the 40 police cars and ate in the light as we felt safe there...and the staff kept checking on us as well..great service...the food was great,outstanding as a matter of fact we will always go to that 1 when in the area..i suggest you all do to.will not be disappointed. 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

BF and I were in the mood for an after-work snack, so we split an order of fajita nachos. Did I say snack? One order was more than enough for us, plus we could have invited Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell. Not sure why we'd want to, but... We powered through like the troopers we are and finished all the crispy, cheesy, grilly goodness. The chicken and steak are seared to perfection and although the onions and peppers could have been a little less mushy, they were good. The only downside is no leftovers for the mutts, who can clearly smell that we've been to a restaurant but haven't brought them anything.

Food was excellent. But the service was poor and it definitely had a negative vibe. Walked in a the greeter seemed annoyed. Ok so he was having a bad. The guy who brought the chips just sat them down and walked away. He left two salsa's so I asked him which one was hot. Apparently that offended him based on his body language and response. The wait person also seemed annoyed when I asked for more time to make my decision. Please note it was 4pm and there were only 3 other couples in the restaurant. Meaning they weren't busy. Not a very happy group...i ordered Carne Asada. Plate was dropped off and he never came back. Walked by me three times and never asked. Not to mention my empty glass. Never offered refill or checked in with me. Finally brought the bill. Dropped it and said thanks for coming in. I noticed similar behavior with the tables. All 2 of them.

I've eaten at most El Nopal's in town...this one is the best! The salsa bottles are full enough to get a few good servings without having to ask for more. They serve good portions of their dishes and my cup was never empty. Other El Nopal restaurants need to pay attention to what these guys are doing.

I refused to eat Mexican for 40 years... so much time wasted. When my kids moved here I got dragged to the Westport Rd. El Nopal and got hooked. There is some differences in the various restaurants. As a result, I drive 28 miles to come to this specific restaurant because IMHO, it's the best food and they are very pleasant.

I wasn't very impressed on the service I had received when I got there they had my food pretty much in-and-out and it just felt like a really homey authentic Mexican restaurant and the cave so was phenomenal probly the best I've had on mobile but then again though that I think I could be improved is Is maybe like suggestive selling something to somebody ask him if they like a burrito with their case so but other than that though you got steak rate well done very impressed will visiting him in the future again amazing case so

The entrance faces the back lot, it's easy to miss but look next to the big dumpster! There was one waiter/cashier/buser and after the wait time he was probably the cook also! If the entrance alone doesn't keep you away just check out the non functional toilet with no tp!
