This is a delicious place to eat! I was surprised to see Gluten free pizza on the menu. Unfortunately toppings are $1 extra. But, at least there's an option, and it was wonderful. The rest of our party ordered spaghetti and meatballs, that are big enough to carry leftovers. The inside is a little cramped, but the outside patio is perfect.

3/5 to 4/5 STARS. Place looked busy for the bar and trivia going on. Couple of cons were the pizza tastes like a store bought Tombstone Pizza (even thinner crust). Pasta was good but meatballs did not taste like meatballs but artificial meat. Bar looked neat but don’t take your family in here past 4 or 5pm when worker clientele get there because there was a ton of vulgar language. Would be a good place to get a drink but not for the food.

This restaurant was great on so many levels!!! None of us expected to be as good as it was, we thought it was going to be just your typical pizza place, but it was so much more!!! We ordered, Spaghetti and meatballs, Lasagna and a gluten free pizza and everything was incredible!!! Our waitress Abbie was phenomenal as well!!! Highly recommend!!!

This was amazing pizza. We had pepperoni and bacon with extra sauce. Next time I'll skip the bacon (it was fine, just clumped and kinda overpowered the pepperoni). The sauce is perfect.

What an awesome little gem in Louisville, found it, and decided to give it a shot based on reviews, and it didn't disappoint!!! Food was tremendous!! Great environment and a killer karaoke guy on a Friday night!!! If I'm ever in Louisville again, I'll be planning on a return visit!!!

Stopped in for a quick lunch, meatball sub came highly recommended to me by a local business owner as well as the bartender. Absolutely did not disappoint. Excellent portion sizing. Wonderful flavors. Delicious fries. I paired it all off with a Big Red and thoroughly enjoyed my lunch. Even had some leftovers for later. Absolutely recommend for a quick lunch.

We came off a 16 hr drive and wanted pizza. Could not have been more pleased!!. Dude bartender was friendly and timely with everything from drinks to food order/ delivery. The staff also said goodnight as we left. The pizza was friggin awesome!!! We felt welcome and well fed. Thanks for the great experience!!!

2nd year we have ate here. Food never disappoints. Quick service and friendly staff and stout drinks. We had subs this time but had the chicken ranch pizza and wings the time before. Quaint and near the bourbon and beyond festival and louder than life. We've made this a yearly tradition.

Favorite local pizza place! I love the open-air garage door that's open on nice days. The buffalo wings are a must! My only complaint is that the soda tastes off most of the time.

Was in Louisville for a first time visit and came upon Derby City. First and foremost Kayla was a fantastic server, and is a valuable asset to the business. The outdoor patio area was very comfortable with a mix of picnic tables and other tables, and live music was a nice treat. The pizza was very average, with the crust being the major issue, but having eaten pizza in NY/NJ and Chicago all my life the bar is deservedly high. That said, the garlic cheese breadsticks were fantastic and would order again them in a heartbeat. I'll be back on my next trip to Louisville, a city I really enjoyed and look forward to visiting again soon.

I ordered a small Meats pizza. The Restaurant was small and cozy. Few tables and a very nice waiter, I think she may have been the base tender too. Was very pleased, great flavor and a nice crunch from the thin crust.

Delivery to hotel during business trip. Super fast, tasted wonderful, still hot. What else do you need? Edit: I travel way more than I wish and this is some of the best pizza I've ever had. I have eaten from Derby City a half dozen times now, delivery is ridiculously fast to area hotels. Delivery has been at least 10m quicker than estimated every single time. I have eaten inside once and it was only better in every way. You can't rate places 0 stars or less and you also can't rate Derby City 6 or more stars, else I would.

I really love pizza and when my friend told me about this place I had to try it out for myself. They have by far the best pizza in the city of Louisville that I have ever eaten and a long time. I highly recommend the thin crust pizza with all your favorite toppings and their cheese bread whether it be the Italian loaf Style or their cheese sticks it is one side item that you don't want to forget. Not to mention the servers we're very helpful and helping me with and the menu to help me decide on what I would like to order. And you can watch just about any game you want on their big screen TVs that's all around you from all four sides. And they have a small mini bar as soon as you walk through the door. That's if you like to have a drink. And don't forget to try their Big Red soft drink on tap it has to be the best that I've ever tasted really good and sweet.

The service is great, and the food was pretty good. I went to the location on Critten Drive. The employees were very nice, helpful, and really friendly. They also had free parking. The cheese ball things were very good, and the pizza I had was as well. I ate all of the cheese balls up before I made it to my house. They also have outdoor seating. I will definitely go back and try more of their selections.

Steadily becoming my favorite pizza in Louisville! Everything is darn good ! The only change I'd make (because I'm from Chicago) is changing the sausage to a mild or spicy Italian sausage. That's it. Everything else is absolutely perfect, the food, the sauce, the thin crust, square cut slices. OMG! So GOOD!

It's our go-to place when visiting the KFEC for events. Get crowded at times with no place to sit and relax which is the reason for the loss of a star. That is because of the good food and service by the waitresses. Needs more dining space in an add on. We usually stop here after a day of shlepping the KFEC floors for whatever reason we are there.

I was glutinous and had a large meat and supreme split pizza, and an order of lasagna to go. Absolutely loved them both. All those toppings on thin crust, and it held firm. I would've preferred meat sauce on the lasagna, but I gobbled it down nonetheless. Very friendly staff. Perfect location. Go get some. Don't just rely on me. :) I'm definitely going back!

This little hole in the wall is worth checking out. The service and pizza were top notch. We had a gluten free crust and it was probably the best I ever had. Crispy and full of flavor. Their sauce is very savory. Will definitely be stopping here again.

By far the BEST pizza experience ever! Sooo delicious. Crust was perfect. Toppings were very high quality. Speed of service was amazing - pizzas were ordered and on our table in around 8-10 minutes. Best of all, we were waited on by the owner of the chain (see picture). Such a nice guy. Just wish there was one in Cullman, AL. If we lived in Louisville, we'd be there weekly! Got the crustless veggie pizza which was delicious. Our waitress provided excellent service. Karaoke was happening when we arrived so we got some free entertainment with our meal. There is indoor and outdoor seating. We opted for indoors since it was late and cool. I definitely will be back.

A great pizza in an otherwise sea of mediocrity! While I am traveling for my job and I get back to my hotel, the last thing I want to do is go out and find something to eat. I am in Louisville, KY this week and thought pizza would hit the spot tonight. I hopped online and found Derby City Pizza. As always, I took a glance at some of the reviews and found that the majority of people really enjoyed Derby City. Derby City Pizza has partnered with Uber Eats, and I was directed to Uber's website when I clicked on "order online". The ordering process was simple and straightforward. I was told my pizza would be delivered in 15-25 minutes... "This can't be right." I thought to myself but as I tracked my pizza order from the Uber Eats website, I was surprised to see how fast things were progressing. I could see the driver's location on the map and I was kept in the loop the entire time. I even could see when the driver inadvertently drove by hotel and had to turn around. lol Total time from placing the order to sitting down to eat was 20 minutes! Impressive. The pizza was pipping hot, thin and crunchy, and was exactly what I ordered. I have to say it is my top 10 Pizza joints for anywhere I have traveled. I will order from Derby City Pizza again the next time I am in Louisville and you should too!

The pizza is pretty okay, but was partially burnt and half was really skimpy on cheese. I was also not happy that they would not do half ham half pepperoni for the price of one topping and said I had to pay for two toppings, I don't think that's a good business practice.

Divey bar with great thin pizza! The dive bar feel and old school gas station look is what this place is about. You can show up, have some drinks, and maybe sample of some the Italian-esk menu items like pizza and spaghetti. They had live music going on the night I was there. Food wise I tried their fully loaded pizza which I have to say judging the book by its cover I wasn't expecting much. However when I saw that super paper thin pizza crust loaded from top to bottom with toppings come out I was floored. Amazing quality of pizza. If your in the mood for a thin, delicious pizza and maybe a beer or two you know where to go.

Derby City pizza is a rare treat for me. When I go to the VA in Louisville it is a must stop. There Italian sausage is nice and spicy and the crust is always thin and crispy. They even cut it in squares so you can grab the corners first. Best part of the pizza in my opinion. The wait staff is always very polite and attentive for refills and if ya need a box. Just go and enjoy yourself. No regrets at this place!

We ordered the buffalo chicken pizza, Italian sub and boneless wings. When we got there, there was only four other groups so we didn't think it would be much of a wait. The pizza and wings came out in about 20 mins but for some reason I waited over 40 mins for my sub. As I'm waiting a lot more people started rolling in and managed to order and receive their food before me. I became quite frustrated at this point. Our waiter kept forgetting the smallest things, and I had to keep asking for things we needed. I gave 3 stars for the food but otherwise I'm not impressed.

Here from out of town to move our son into college and staying at the Holiday in around the corner. Soon as we walked in the employees greeted us and even the customers that were there at the bar must have been regulars because they were friendly also! Very welcoming! The pizza, bbq boneless wings and cheese steak we ordered to go was all good! If the weather is nice, there is good outdoor seating in the front too! I like the smaller portion size of the dessert because I was able to enjoy it without feeling so full and guilty 😊 Will definitely be back when in town visiting my son!

Stephanie and Lori were two of the best servers I’ve had in a while. They remembered us from our first trip and treated us like we’d been going there for years. Great pizza and a good selection of drinks very close to both the Kentucky Expo Center and Louisville campus. Had their version of a works pizza. Very good with plenty of toppings edge to edge "Columbus style" square cut pieces. Staff was extremely nice. Family friendly.

Great place. Close to the Kentucky Convention Center. Any of their pizzas can be made on gluten free pizza crust. If a train goes by you get a bottle of beer for half price. Very close to Highway and railroad track, but just a fun casual place that gives discounts to nearby University of Louisville. Has an outdoor seating area.

Edit: I would like to take a moment and say Derby City Pizza Co. has come around with their service. I decided to give it another shot and they definitely impressed. Changed stars from 2 to 5!!!!! About 10 minutes after placing my pickup order for an extra large pizza I received a call telling me they were out of extra large pizzas. THEY offered to replace it with one large and one small pizza. Great! Or so I thought. When they rang me up, it was now over $26 rather than the $16 and change for my original order. I didn't ask for large and small, it was offered to me. And when I inquired about the price difference she seemed not to really care much. She said when I called you and told you we were out of extra larges you said you would take a large and small. At no point did she tell me I was going to be charged more during the phone call. Louisville is not short of great pizza places. It's the service that keeps people coming back.

Ordered the meatball sub. Very good meatballs were moist and flavorful. Sandwich a little small but would order again. However the small cheese pizza I had. Well the cheese ans sauce were good but I dont know what kind of dough they used but that was the worst crust I have ever had it was like eating. Wet Chewy cardboard. My goodness maybe for the othere sizes they use different dough.

I had to lunch special with my darling wife she had the baked spaghetti and I had the three piece pizza special they were both very good and I would recommend it the Italian sausage on my pizza with superb and the cheese was excellent. The lunch special comes with your drink. This will be our pre and post stopping grounds for U of L football.

This was a fun little place that we decided to try whole visiting the area for a few days. The service was good, and the pizza was pretty good as well. I'm not sure why other reviews said this place was super expensive, because we didn't really feel that way. It was comparable to other pizza places I've been to. If you want cheap pizza, go to Little Caesars. The pizza here has a thin crust. We ordered a modified version of the Champ, and it was really good. Kind of noisy in there, but it is a sports bar after all. We also enjoyed the fact that the bat area is separate from the diner area, so it's still a family friendly place for those that want it. I'd come back again.

I've come for Pizza a couple times now and has been great each time. I tried a broccoli and cheese gluten free crust first and it was scrumptious! Tonight it was a go to classic, pep, sausage and bacon. I found this crispy thin crust tasty but very thin. They certianly put plenty into some of the best cheese I've had on pizza. Its a tad expensive, but worth it. I look forward to learning if they have something more substantial than thin crust as an option. Totally worth a visit. 😎

Visited Derby City Pizza for the first time recently when my stepfather was in town on business, after a glowing recommendation from the front desk clerk at the hotel he was staying in. We came in around 8:30 on a Tuesday with nine people in our party. We didn't call ahead, but they quickly found a table that fit us all and it took no time at all for a friendly server to come get our drink order. She was back with all drinks in no time at all and stayed prompt with refills for the duration of our meal. Wide variety of toppings on the menu insured everyone got something they wanted, and the pizza was amazing!! Can't wait to visit again!

We really enjoyed Derby City. They have indoor and outdoor seating, a full bar and you are right by the tracks if you are a fan of trains. Several TVs allow you to watch sporting events. The pizza is thin crust, with toppings right to the edge. It's crispy goodness with great flavor. The wait staff were very pleasant, even when 14 of us invaded the restaurant. Don't let the outside fool you this place has great pizza. I am a big fan of pizza and this is some of our favorite in town. Great crust, and is always well prepared. The service is great but can be a bit slow during the lunch rush but that is OK and is to be expected since this pace fills up during lunch. If you like thin crust you'll love theirs.

I have had quite a few pizzas from Derby City Pizza and before when it was PRP Pizza and I have to say I have never had a bad experience or a bad Pizza from them. I really love their Pizza it has a good taste that actually has flavor compared to some other places which means they have pretty fresh ingredients they don't try to hide everything under a bunch of cheese and sprinkle with seasoning to give it flavor. The pizza has a crust that is crunchy but doesn't necessitate a dentist appointment after eating it or have that floury taste from improper cooking or mistakes when preparing the crust. With many choices of toppings and different combinations to choose from and prices that will leave you conscious after seeing the receipt gives another reason to come back and support their business

Pizza was good for a soda cracker thin crust. The lasagna was pretty damn good though, I'd have that again. Small but quaint dining area and friendly staff gets the vote mostly. The owners wife coming in to scrounge out all the money in the cash drawer with 2 d-bag tweens in tow was probably the highlight of the evening.

Fun place for college kids. Music and outdoor seating. Very thin pizza, very overpriced. My carryout party of five got ill from our meal. When we returned the uneaten portion the following morning we were told "well no one else got sick so couldn't have been our pizza." Found this rude and no other compensation nor refund was offered or given. Even got a pregnant lady sick and they showed no concern at all.

Good pizza, but...I ordered at 3:30 pm on a Wednesday in May, through Grubhub. The restaurant is about 2 miles from my house. It didn't get to me until 5:43 pm. I called about 5:05 to see what was taking so long & the first girl accused me of screwing up & not clicking on delivery, to which I replied that I had been receiving messages about what time it would be DELIVERED. The next 1 said the driver had left about 7 minutes before, approximately 4:58. After waiting till 5:25, I called back & found out it had dissapeared & they were going to have to remake it. I finally talked to someone civil & she is having the manager call me. She also gave me a couple free brownies. Hopefully this was a fluke. The pizza is very good!

My visit to Derby City Pizza was by accident...literally! A birthday lunch at Denny's on Sunday at 2 p.m. was, in hindsight, naive and a downright mistake when planned. Crittenden drive is home to one location of Derby City Pizza (formerly Fairdale Pizza...i think) Best mistake ever! We entered the place skeptically to put it lightly & ordered a medium supreme pie for my brother and sister, I had the spaghetti with meatballs and mozzarella cheese . Both were exceptionally good. Ingredients on the pie were nearly perfect in quantity, distribution and flavor and the spaghetti sauce was flavorful and topped with 2 meatballs that had a great combination of taste and texture and they were the size of baseballs! Enough to satisfy the heartiest of appetites. I will be recommending Fairdale Pizza as the newest member of my top 10 places in Louisville! Prices were reasonable, staff was courteous and personable and the atmosphere is typical of a restaurant/bar (except for the clean and sanitized odor, also a pleasant surprise) Check out Fairdale Pizza on any given Sunday to avoid the church crush! Chances are you'll return again and again.

I'm on the keto diet the only reason we stopped was because we seen the sign for the low carb crustless pizza.. I was a little bummed when I realize it was just the toppings off of Pizza in a pan. I thought maybe they use the cauliflower crust or possibly fried the cheese to make a crispy crust for the toppings to go on after they're cooked. But it was not it was just toppings in a pan for $15.

Totally delish thin crust pizza. Right next to the train tracks on Crittenden. Definitely fun dive feel coupled with smiling staff and loaded pizza.
