Great "hole in the wall" Italian restaurant, that's been a staple of the community for some time. Food was fresh, service was great. Had some things missing due to supply chain issues, but most places are running into that right now. Waiter always worked to make replacement suggestions and try to make the most of it. For appetizers, the wontons are the go to! Pastas were good, but still looking for my favorite choice to recommend.

OMG! This place is amazing, honestly some of the best food I’ve had in L’ville. It may not look like much when you walk in but rest assured your going to have a good meal and top notch service.

Love Come Back Inn. Ambiance, and food are incredible. We frequented the Come Back Inn three times and each time was incredible. We will continue to invite new and old friends and continue to visit the restaurant. Hoping the Inn stays open for many more years to come. The pasta dishes are always good and hearty. The servings are ample size for even two persons to share. We have not tried the pizza yet, though this is planned for future visits.

This place is AMAZING. We had the Italian wontons for an appetizer which were so good. I had the sirloin bake. Cooked perfectly and so tasty and satisfying. Sherry Saltimbo waited on us and she did a fabulous job. If we are ever back in Louisville I want to visit this place again.

Some of the best pasta I've ever had! And the service was excellent! The bread sticks on the other hand were just ok. On a side note our table was so small it was hard to eat with our appetizer and entree on the table.

You have got to check this resturaunt out! It's one of Louisville's little secrets. They have great Italian food, great service and a great atmosphere. It's a small quaint place, and you'll never find better Italian food anywhere!! Check it out. My neice was a Spaghetti Factory fan, tonight, she changed her mind. She is now a 100% "Come Back Inn" fan. She said Spaghetti Factory spaghetti tasted like basic jar spaghetti sauce, and Come Back Inn's Spaghetti was dull of flavor and definitely...the bomb!

Lovely little spot that is out of the way. Due to being some distance away I normally call ahead for carry out. (So happy they offer that as an option.) The prices are decent and the portions are HUGE. Fair warning...this is real food..not that Chef Boyardee stuff some places try and serve. Highly recommended. I know they have an outdoor patio as an option as well for those who might be interested.

Fantastic Italian place. It’s not a super fancy Italian place, but the food tastes like it is. I got the Amatraciana (pancetta, diced tomatoes, mushrooms, red onion, garlic, Italian herbs and red pepper flakes with an olive oil& Chianti pan sauce) for $13.25. I had enough for two meals. My whole table had enough for two meals. (Oh and try the wonton app they have, it’s also good!)

Cheese stuffed ravioli and pizzas are so gooood. They arent light on the cheese! Our hostess and waitress were awesome. Didnt wait long for any part of our dinner. I ordered a salad....ranch is made in house and delicious. The marinara is made in house and is delicious as well.

We stopped in Friday for a cocktail and the food looked so good we decided to have dinner Saturday night. We had crab cakes and ravioli. The bartender and owner were awesome. Highly recommend!

My boyfriend went to college at U of L 20 years ago and we spent the weekend in Louisville and he said this was the one place we had to eat. I'm so glad we did as it was great!! The antipasta wontons are my new favorite thing. The dipping marinara was so tasty! We had the chicken gorgonzola and the greco pastas. Both were delicious in completely different ways. The portions are huge and the prices good. Great meal and cozy atmosphere.

Absolutely amazed with this spot, it is truly a hidden gem! Contrary to the divey look and atmosphere, they make delicious, authentic Italian food - some of the best I have ever had. Their “wontons” are to die for, must try. Come early because this place gets packed. Love this spot!

We had to wait 20 minutes or so for a table, but the wait was worth it. The pasta dishes were incredible, and the ambiance was like have a meal at a friend's house. Very cozy and delicious.

This should be 4 and a half. It was like Old Home week. I've been eating there on and off for 20+ years. The only disappointments were they had run out of Crab Cakes (at 5:15 p.m.) and they didn't list a special. The Saturday dinner special was always a treat to try something different. Sometimes the special wasn't even on the menu. I suppose it is the global logistical nightmare that were responsible for both. If you ever see a special posted again, and are adventurous - I was never disappointed trying them. All together, very happy seeing them on the backside of the pandemic.

Some of the best Italian food in Louisville! Great value as well! We had a great time here and the service was excellent! The portions were huge and it all felt home made. The atmosphere feels slightly “divey” but do not let that stop you from going! The only con to our experience here was the menu was small, but what they had on there was done well!

Come Back Inn is the best Italian restaurant in town!! From the ambiance to the staff and the food, this place is a must experience for locals and transients alike. The walls are filled with artifacts and historic photos of our beautiful storied city. The tables are close together for a feeling of enhanced intimacy but will accommodate groups as well. (May wish to contact prior to bringing a group, as many other folks love this place as well!) The staff are always friendly, responsive, and knowledgeable. The bar offers a thoughtful selection of wines, beers, and spirits. The food is amazing, and ingredients are always fresh (especially the seafood selections)!! Their red sauce is unparalleled by most, and there is something delicious on the menu for even the pickiest of eaters. Come hungry because the portions are huge... and you'll leave happier than when you arrived, hence the best reason to always Come Back! :)

Delicious! We shared the pasta nachos. Large portion with lots of flavor. I got the chicken bake with fettuccine and alfredo sauce. It was so good! And had plenty left over. Hubby had the Italian Hot Brown. It was a large portion and very good. Service was very good. Cozy atmosphere. Definitely will return.

The food was pretty good, temperature on food was great. Very dark atmosphere but not too bad once eyes adjust but you won't be reading a book and you may struggle seeing the menu. Our server was attentive and mostly polite however she was obviously rushing us out.

I haven't tried much Italian in Louisville until the Comeback Inn caught my eye. The parking lot is a little rough but it is well worth it once you come inside to eat. The breadsticks are delicious and the special hot brown fries blew me away. The portions are generous and the food is on point. I will definitely be coming back!

Been awhile since I've been but my favorite Italian restaurant in Louisville. If you all think of putting up a location outside of Louisville then Bardstown would be a hit. There are 3 Italian restaurants here that you guys would blow out of the water.

Food is PHENOMENAL. Gorgonzola pasta- yes. If you're a fan of clam sauce and pasta, it's pretty dang good. Bolognese is awesome. Service was great. Atmosphere is very...hole in the wall. Don't expect much here...come for the FOOD.

The food here is fantastic! My favorite is the chicken alfredo pasta. I'm not the most adventurous eater, but they can make a classic dish taste delicious and exciting. And their food stays tasting great when you eat it as leftovers the next day! They also have a great selection of wine and beer to go with your meal, ample seating, and friendly staff. I'm glad this place is such a popular fixture in Louisville because they definitely deserve it for their hard work!

Great service. I had the cheese ravioli, they were great. Other people in my party had the mushroom ravioli special and the gyros. My daughter had the Alfredo. All fantastic!!! The server was very knowledgeable not only with the food menu but also with the wine selection. We took leftovers home and had them for lunch the next day. YUM!!

Love this place, it is out of another era. It is an affordable family meal. (Good Italian) They are always busy. It is loud, it is tight, it is worth it. Everyone is always having a good time. Oh, just a reminder, they will not seat your party until everyone is there. So no sending one or two people a little early to try to snag that table for everyone.

Always a good time. Friendly, busy, good food, large portions, reasonable prices. A neighborhood tavern turned into a restaurant. I always get the bolognese. All their food is worth the trip except their pizza. They excel everywhere but there. I've taken my family there since the kids were 5yo. That's been 14 years now. It's my kid's and family's favorite place.

It wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing. We did curbside during the virus. They had great service, it was done on time, and was still hot when we got home! So they get 100% for customer service and all around people skills. It did take a while to get through the phone, but that was expected on a Friday so just keep trying if that happens to you. The food was okay. Nothing spectacular. It had a decent base flavor but I ended up having to add garlic and a bunch of seasonings to my alfredo because I found it a little on the bland side. My guy got the steak bake and it wasn't really a sufficient serving for the price he felt. The wontons were great though! Definitely a different taste and unique. If i get them again I'll get alfredo to dip them in. Over all 3 stars since the food was simply okay but I might be willing to try it again.

The Come Back Inn is a gluten lovers happy place. I've never ordered anything I didn't like. The staff and service is spot on; friendly and fast. The food is hot, fresh, and if it isn't made from scratch they have me fooled. Always get bread, it's so tasty!

This is the quintessential neighborhood Italian joint. Down home Italian cooking, fresh ingredients, large portions and very reasonable prices. A decent wine list, local and craft beers on tap, a full bar. Go early, they get busy as the evening progresses.

I just ordered my first carryout from here today and Oooh Heaven is a place on Earth! My woman and I had the jumbo ravioli in marinara and the gorgonzola pasta. Holy freaking moon jumping cow!!! I have never eaten Italian this delicious! Absolutely perfect recipes! Huge portions, half of which are in the fridge. There's no doubt in my mind that the leftovers will be just as amazing. HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend! My only disappointment is that I waited this long to eat here. If you're within an hour of this place and feeling like Italian, it'll be well worth the trip!

Heard that this was a nice low-key Italian place so decided to check it out. Definitely has a neighborhood vibe to it and was reasonably priced with big portions. I had the Italian beef sandwich which was good and enough for two meals. Ladyfriend got pasta which was another big portion but pretty simple. She took the leftovers and spiced it up a bit with more veggies for a lunch the next day that she enjoyed.

Was introduced to Come Back Inn by a local family who told me about great pasta. I have to agree - the pasta that I had (cheese tortellini) and the sauce were fantastic. My table also shared a fantastic steak and gorgonzola salad. I would definitely Come Back (Inn) to try more of this delicious food.

I was there last night with a good friend. I love local hole in the wall NO franchise places. The service, food, and atmosphere was awesome. I will be back anytime I come to Louisville. .. I can recommend the Bolognease Dinner and the Oyster appetizer.

Really delicious. We had the fried oysters, bolognese pasta and the chicken bake and all were delicious, one complaint is that there was so much sauce in the bake it seemed a shame to have no noodles in the dish to soak that up. Generous portions all around but particularly the bolognese, easily feeding 2 possibly 3 people. Carryout order on a very busy night, ready when they said it would be. Definitely be back.

Neat place with a cool vibe. Heard great things but didn’t live up to the hype. I ordered the Amatriciana and what I got was more like Ramen soup. Soggy noodles in a couple inches of a thin sauce with a strong raw wine taste and undercooked vegetables. My wife got the Greco and it was the same way. Tons of raw wine just ruining the dish. We were running late for a show so we just had to eat it and go on. Breaded ravioli was good. Service was fine.

Very dark and loud. Food was a little pricy for pasta. Quality was okay nothing to write home about. The waiter did a good job considering how many patrons he had to take care of. I was not a fan of being jam packed in the dark with strangers.

Pasta, crab cakes and breaded ravioli were all delicious. The chicken in my wife's pasta was a bit overcooked which is why I gave 4 out of 5 but we will try it again. Hopefully it was just bad luck on our part. Overall we were very happy with our meal.

The absolute BEST Italian beef sandwich you'll ever have! If you have 2 or more people, order The Godfather. You will not be disappointed! It's a massive mountain of marinated roast beef on a huge bun, complete with sides of provolone, peppers, marinara, sauteed onions, au jus, mushrooms, and Italian sausage. The service was as good as the food. I didn't get her name, but our waitress today was a older blonde lady, very cheerful and attentive. Great server!

This is by far one of my favorite restaurants. The staff is always nice and the food is delicious. My favorite things to order are the wontons and the chicken alfredo. There is definitely more than enough to take home with you. After eating there, you will definitely want to Come Back Inn.

I have to say that didn't expect to get this good of home style Italian food in Louisville, hasn't been my experience thus far. But Come Back In is the real deal, reminded me of the local places I would be at living in Chicago. The meatballs are perfect, the calamari with peppers were amazing, and the waitress who took care of us was pleasant and friendly like we were friends stopping by for a visit at her house. Come back in??? Damn right I will!!

During our drive home to southeastern Indiana, my daughter was craving Alfredo after her game. Come Back Inn lived up to its reviews! Delicious food in a very friendly old pub atmosphere. The Gorgonzola Steak salad and the Gyro salad were very fresh with outstanding flavor also.

Let's start with first walking in, was greeted by someone as soon as I walked in. Then was took right to a out table. We received our drinks quick one complaint is that they don't have straws. We ordered calimari it was perfect, cooked just right crunchy outside soft inside. We then ordered our pasta dishes which were fantastic. I rate it over all 4.5 out of 5 because of the straws and we needed to ask for a new parmesan shaker.

The portions are HUGE. Come early to get seated quickly. Always take home enough to make another meal. We think we'll split a dinner next time. Since our first visit, we've had the restaurant cater a dinner for our fraternity and we've been back to dine twice.

Come Back Inn is probably more known to the neighborhood it is in - not deep downtown or in any place known for restaurants - yet not too far from the Highlands & "restaurant row" - you could easily drive right by. Not much to look at outside; the parking lot is a danger to walk thru due to an upheaval of broken pavement, but there is street parking - if you can find it. The entrance is up a small set of steep stairs & is NOT handicap accessible. Inside, we had to pause to let our eyes adjust, because lighting is low & walls are dark. It looks to be more of a bar than a restaurant, but it is family friendly. Booths line 3 sides, with a bar on the 4th & tables in the center. Service was fast & friendly, but I didn't like it when our server tried to clear items I wasn't thru with or tried to refill my water glass by reaching in front of me & putting her hand right on the rim where I had been drinking. Food was good, but beware sandwiches with meat & cheese; they are fat & sodium bombs! The Italian Hot Brown is a huge plate that could easily serve 2 (if not 3) & only 1/3 was eaten by a hungry, grown man! Good, but probably not going to be a chosen again. The salad was a beautiful tower of greens, cheese, back olives, onions & tomatoes! The house made ranch dressing is very good. The salad was enough for sharing by 2, unless you are getting it as your meal. The Italian wedding soup was very good & makes a great starter - or a meal with the salad. I was not there but I've been in that situation before. I personally do not think saying the name Kareem Abdul Jabbar is a racist act just as I don't think saying the name Larry Bird is a racist act. Something is missing in the communication between owner and customers in this case. I stand by my rating, and I will go back next time I am in Louisville.
