Reviews of The Local Peasant - Sherman Oaks Restaurant and Bar
JeVarn O'Neal
The food was really good. We had the crab cakes, fish tacos, a grilled cheese, and chicken tenders. Everything was so tasty, and flavorful. Highly recommend you check it out. Looks like a great place to hang out at the bar as well.
Alexandra Cervantes
Came here on a Monday evening with some friends and we had a really good time. The food was really good and the drinks were yummy as well! The service was also really good!
We hope to come back soon for more yummy food and drinks!

They have a couple of mocktails! And Chicken & Waffles (chicken was a bit dry) and DELICIOUS Brussels sprouts. Portions are on the larger side and our server was the nicest. He also was attentive about the ice teas my friend was drinking and kept bringing the refills without fail. 😂 Saturday brunch wasn’t crowded though the music volume is “healthy” and feels a bit raucous. All in all, a solid neighborhood pub/bar w good food that also does good brunch!

My food was delicious. I had the lemon pepper chicken, my friend had them pork and watermelon. She said it was interesting but she wasn't sure if she really liked it. The drinks were ok as well. I could have done without it though.
I would definitely go back. The music was great! I really enjoyed the atmosphere. I highly recommend this place.
I'm upset I forgot to take pictures of them food 😩

I've been coming to The Local Peasant for years. I've had birthday celebrations, dinners, and french-fry destination events here. I like the atmosphere, choices as a vegetarian, and always friendly service, and can say unequivocally that they have the best thick French Fries on any side of the Mississippi.
We move a bit further away and hadn't been in a while...so I was excited to return...the atmosphere was there, but the food and drink this time around were not quite what I had remembered.
I started with a watermelon cocktail. With the main ingredient being watermelon, and simple syrup included, I was surprised at how not-at-all sweet this was. I had to send it back to sweeten it up some. It came back sweeter, but the watermelon flavor was not as present as I would have wanted it.
The french fries - and I mean the thick ones, served criss-cross on the plate like lincoln logs were on point, and reason enough to visit this place.
The grilled cheese may have changed since the last time I had it. It was served on ciabatta bread so it didn't have the kind of satisfying "non-end piece" grilled bread situation you kind of want out of a grilled cheese. The cheese mix in it was pretty good though.
My son ordered the Beyond Burger and (blasphemy) the thinner fries. The fries were good but he (a teenager who lives for greasy foods and sugar) kept complaining that the burger was too greasy.
My wife assembled her own meal as the website menu didn't quite match what the actual menu was...She had salmon, bok choy, and fries (the good ones). The Bok Choy and of course the fries were great. She said she'd had better salmon here before. Perhaps slightly overcooked.
Our server was fantastic. Super nice. Like he was from Canada nice. (though he wasn't from Canada.) He even brought me a chocolate chunk bread pudding with a candle in it for my birthday. We devoured that.
I like it here a lot and think it may have just been a slightly off night for the food. (Possible also because I had planned on ordering the cheese board which was no longer on the menu.)

With Jason and Drew at the bar, you're a shooting star... at this place!
Part of the whole Ambiance of this place is the bartenders! These guys are really cool oh, really chill, could talk to you about anything. You definitely feel welcome at this place.
Happy Hour! It's all about the happy hour pricing, value, discount.
Music... On Point! Some Madonna, Double Dutch Bus, Rumors, Mary Jane, old school hip hop. Love it!
Fun factoid: Mak, was apparently the owner's nickname in school. So, I got the Big Mak today.
The burger is delicious, juicy (get it medium or medium rare to taste the fresh beef flavor), and it's even got a little tangy flavor about. It was seasoned perfectly.
Waaaaaaaay better than a Big Mack at... you know where.
Honestly, this Mak burger at the Local Peasant is on par with 1 of the best burgers I've had ever.
The sauce on the side is like a thousand island with a little kick to it. Also, there's a nice hint of garlic and onion flavor.
It's good, get it!
I opted for the thick cut fries, and wow, they are crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. It's a nice crunch, followed by a satisfying mash feeling. The fries are great.
Heck YES I will be back, with more friends too.
Parking... schmarking. Walk, Uber, park 3 blocks away, carpool, it's worth it.

1st timer (not local): met here with fam who came up from SD after Universal Studios. Great atmosphere for large parties. The spot is bigger than expected. And outdoor seating too. RESERVE a table online ahead of time. HARRIS RANCH beef (if you ever travel the 5 to northern Cali then you should know how good the beef is at Harris Ranch!) all the food was as expected - delicious. Great list of beers, wine, happy hour. Servers were accommodating and went out of their way for a couple of our requests.

THIS REVIEW IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.
Okay, now that I have your attention, I just want to say that I enjoyed The Local Peasant. I went here with one of the top 5 people ever and was not disappointed. Let's dive in.
Atmosphere:
I might be biased because this was my first time eating food at a restaurant since March 2020 but this felt like a classic restaurant experience circa pre-pandemic. There were stools and tables and lights and this place is not my apartment, which is a big deal.
Service:
Good. They humored our request to have them randomize our drinks, which is a plus in my book.
Food:
Great! My coworker got the chopped salad - which looked fresh and tasty - and I got the steak frites. The steak was nicely cooked and the fries were beauties. We also got olives as an appetizer.
Drinks:
The Avery White Rascal and Pizza Port Chronic were solid choices, just like the Irish coffee. We got two other drinks but I don't recall the names because they didn't stick with my brain.
Price:
This is what you'd expect. I didn't feel like I was getting away with a deal but I also didn't feel like I was robbed.
Will I return? When I'm in the area, I'd be happy to.
Recommend? Yeah, you should go here.
Michelle Allen
You have to reserve online. The greeter was so sweet, our water was nice, but he seemed stressed, very crowded. The food was good. I ordered a mock tail, my kids enjoyed, I o ordered them one. They arrived and did not taste the same, I informed my waiter, and no suggestions were given and still charged for them.

Local Peasant in Sherman Oaks is a great spot for a casual meal or drinks. The rustic decor and outdoor seating create a cozy ambiance. The menu features a variety of delicious comfort food options, from burgers to mac and cheese. The bar offers a nice selection of beers, wines, and cocktails. The staff is friendly and attentive, making for a pleasant dining experience. Overall, Local Peasant is a must-visit spot for anyone in the Sherman Oaks area looking for a relaxed atmosphere and tasty food and drinks.

Go-to spot in the Valley. You could easily drive past it if you didn't know it was there. Favorite dishes include the brussels sprouts (chopped hazelnuts are a great touch) and the fish n' chips. For brunch they do lemon ricotta pancakes that are fantastic. Big fan of the passionfruit slushy. It's like a fruity, pink, slushy margarita. Also a great selection of beer on tap, including Pliny the Elder for you craft beer lovers. Service is good. I can even bring my kid (though they don't specifically offer a kid's menu, so spaghetti it is!). Been there several times, and it never disappoints.
Jennifer Skaggs
This was such a fantastic find for us while we were on vacation. While the menu isn't huge, there is enough variety to suit everyone. The deviled eggs are a must order. They have an extensive cocktail menu and prices were reasonable. We will certainly return here when we are in the area.
Rachael Gieschen
came for drinks on a girls night and ended up ordering some apetizers as well. they had an interesting selection of food and drinks, not things i would normal expect from a pub/bar. I ordered the meatballs and they were so so delcious, they were not dry and the ricotta on the side was a special touch. The drinks are strong and delicious, id love to come back for a full meal

My wife and i LOVE this place.
-everything we've eaten has been amazing
-Brussel sprouts are the best we've had in LA
-all the servers are genuinely amazing and friendly people, they all deserve a raise
-the atmosphere is great for either a family dinner or just a drink and to watch a game

It was Saturday night during Covid and my friends and I wanted to get together for drinks for the first time in 5 months. Since every bar is closed during Covid, we had to find a restaurant with a bar that had open reservations. After about an hour of searching, we sold on The Local Peasant.
I've been here once before for Sunday brunch, and I loved their self-serve bloody Mary bar. We were seated outdoors and we had a little less than an hour to have some drinks and some food.
Since we already had dinner earlier that evening, we decided to get a few appetizers in addition to our mezcal drinks. We ordered the the crab cakes, brussel sprouts, and tuna tartar. Another friend ordered the vegetable sandwich, fries, and cheesecake l. Everything looked and tasted delicious.
We will definitely be back for food and drinks at some point in the near future. It was a great night out in L.A. in months.
Wil Allen
Pork belly w/watermelon and anything else. Probably wise to stay with the minimal signage out front or this place would get very crowded very quick. Everything on the menu is of signature quality. Prototype for a local spot.
Russ Lacuata
Missing restaurants! But The Local Peasant-Sherman Oaks is available for contact free pickup and delivery, while also offering dinner grab n’ go for the entire family and they also have marketplace offerings. Remember to support the restaurant industry!
Aubrey Buchanan
Our favorite local spot. Super friendly staff, great food, great drinks, right down the street from me. The best.
Christopher Wagner
Great food, happy hour prices. Excellent service. Great looking space. I will be back!
Jose Magana
Had the fish and chips was very crunchy and hot. They had malt vinegar in spray bottles, and a decent house sauce kinda like spicy 1000 island sauce.

Great food and amazing waiter. The manager not so nice. Heard him address a table near by on what appeared to be a misunderstanding and misinformation they had received from the owner of the establishment. The manager approached them very forceful and honestly a bit rude. They were a big party spending money, I'm sure there was a better approach that the one he used. Other that me witnessing that food was great.

Love the new outside dining option! And thank goodness they have delivery and takeout, wouldn't know what to do without The Local Peasant - my favorite restaurant!
Alexa Kerr
Their food was beyond delicious, not to mention the fact that it was all locally sourced. The waitress was very friendly/funny and recommended two beers that my husband fell in love with. My Moscow mule was one of the best that I've had. We will definitely add this to our stop list every time we visit!
Ty Nguyen
A great pub :) waiters were awesome
Ron Drynan
Great atmosphere, kinda rustic, kinda hipster, but not pretentious. Good food; fish and chips especially. Very tasty cocktails. Good stuff.
Raphael Ramirez
You can call this a hidden gem! I was surprised on how delicious the food was. I was under the impression they had regular hand food but there selection was great. Definitely a spot to come back and share with friends and family.
Nicole Asaraf
This was my second time dining at this location. I think I liked it better the the first time I dined here. It was a busy Saturday night so, it was to be expected for the crowds and the bar like seen than a restaurant. We sat in the back which appeared to be an add on addition, but they stored a lot of items, like kegs and propane tanks. Wasn’t a great look. We enjoyed the food, but pretty basic for the price. I was expecting something a bit more since it cost like $16 for a grilled cheese and tomato soup. I still like this place and would go again but would like to see coming on a more relaxed night maybe?
Lasatra _
How about a restaurant that doesn't look like anything from the outside.. Well this is a restaurant like that! Very creative and it's just a big wow when you walk in this place! We ordered some nice beers and had some good burgers! The waiting time was a bit too long but the service was great so stars deserved!
Kam “KBP” P
Great for a date night or to meet up with friends. Fairly low-key bar. Great food, drinks, and vibes.
Ms. Wild
Wonderful drinks food and vibe! Had the passion margarita with the fish and chips
It's All Good
Delicious short ribs sliders.
Pork belly was not very warm when we picked it up, but still yummy!

Great place for a casual fun get together. Good food and excellent service.

One of my fav local spots. Casual, great food & service, good vibes.

Excellent atmosphere and food! Ceviche tostada app was perfect. White sangria was refreshing, could have used more fruit. Kale caesar salad was amazing!
Da Luchee
Pork Belly, potatoes and Eggs... good beer selection and Bloody Mary bar. I would definitely make the drive from the OC.
Conner C
Good food, great atmosphere, nice location in Sherman Oaks with the option for fully opened windows. Food was good quality, but felt a little overpriced for what you actually get. Maybe I don't understand where this company sources from or something but there's a lot of places I'd choose over this one in terms of quality for the price. Nice drink selection though and reasonably priced cocktails!
Rhys Darby
Love the vibe and food here. Fish n chips! It's got a lovely touch of the old country in it's persuasions. UK, Ireland
Stuart Howard
Fun joint. Good service. Food is just average. Avoid the dry, dull chicken schnitzel.

Granison will be the only reason I come back to this place. He is such a kind, funny, professional, and overall great service from him.

Parking with no fee but read the signs. An ez walk. Food is top notch. No frills. Great portions. Great place for conversation. U cannot go wrong here.Interesting beer choices and knowledgeable staff

This is a very local spot for me, so naturally out of convenience, I decided to go here. The food was very good as well as their cocktails. We ordered the chopped salad (I substituted kale for iceberg lettuce, it was fantastic), the tomato bisque soup, the fried chicken sandwich with their hand cut fries. All of the food was delicious but their hand cut fries are insanely good. Drinks wise we ordered their kombucha beer, the St Germain signature cocktail, and their signature margarita with cucumber...all were very tasty. I highly recommend coming here for both food and cocktails...they also have brunch on the weekends. I highly recommend this place.
Sophia Farina
Great pub. Tasty food and libations. Love the lemon ricotta pancakes 🥞 on Sunday brunch menu. …
Blake Wall
Overall, things were really great, but a few items were just okay.
Highlights were the mac and cheese, the meatballs, plus the deviled eggs. The mac and cheese was creamy, rich, and absolutely full of flavor. Some of the best I've ever had. The meatballs were also amazing. They're huge, and with the ricotta and bread that comes with them, some awesome Italian food. And the eggs, holy hell. I could have eaten those eggs like Gaston.
The drinks were kinda tasty but weak, and a couple of the items just had slight problems (overly charred brussel sprouts - that was the only problem with them btw, otherwise they were great) and the wings were a bit dry.
The staff was awesome, and Jason took really good care of us. Would go back to try other things here (and get those eggs again).
Selena Daryl
Their food was amazing! Got their Big Mak and I was not disappointed! Tasted great. The patties were a bit small for such a big burger but it was delicious. Kinda disappointed they didn't have any dairy free options for the coffee, they should keep that as on stock as they do their regular creamer. Had to drink my coffee black (not my taste) and they didn't even offer to cover the coffee. Parking is a bit limited but available in the neighborhood during brunch hours.
Natalie Guzy
While the lobster roll was decent, the $30 price tag was overkill. You don't get a full size lobster roll, more like appetizer size.
Ezra Lopez
The impossible burger was amazing. I really enjoyed the burger. their beer selection is ok. I would recommend to someone who is looking to try something new.
Conal Cunningham
The host definitely thinks she's better than you. Would have been lower rating but our amazing server and the good food saved the evening.
Lorna Wilson
Yummy brunch and amazing Bloody Mary bar. We will be back for sure.
Chef Cher
Decent food but it's way too tight on here! It's dark & extra loud.
Bit overpriced
melissa z
Great happy hour menu from 4-6pm M-F.
Jayson Marquez
The restaurant has large open windows feet away from a bus station…not what I would call appetizing lol.
I went on a super slow day and it seems the staff is more interested in huddling around the bar to talk to each other than to wait on patrons.
If you’re in the area it wouldn’t hurt to give it a try but don’t be in a rush and don’t expect the waiters to come back so order EVERYTHING the first time lol including alcoholic drinks, they won’t be back.
Maybe I came on a bad day? So I’ll meet them at the middle and give it 3 stars
The Caprese omelette was pretty good though, hats off to the chef. 5 stars for them.
Rico
Food and drinks were great.
Good vibes and great people.
Tracy Jardine
Walking distance from us which is great. Decided to come have dinner here one night since we've been to the one in Woodland Hills and loved it. There's no sign - so if it's your first time to this location you might miss it. Drinks are good here and the ambiance is nice too. Service was alright... The food wasn't exactly the best - I had the fried chicken sandwich and my partner had the regular burger. Wasn't exactly the warmest and they forgot to add the cheese... Waitress came back and gave us a slice of cheese on a plate instead after we told her the cheese was forgotten in the order. Kinda ruined the burger esp. when it wasn't warm already. Chicken was dry and bland. She didn't come check on us the whole time until the end when we were finished but checked on everyone else around us instead.

The fish n chips are probably some of the best I’ve ever had. Light, yet fluffy, yet crispy. Ambience is great. Awesome place to either start the night or end it, or anytime inbetween. The front is unassuming, so it feels semi-speakeasy.
กฤษณี นาคเอี่ยม
Great food variety, nice place, great service
Mary
Food is alright. Probably better dinner/happy hour than brunch. Have gone a couple times with the family and once with a bigger group. Bigger group was pretty dysfunctional, in back room, with endless requests for coffee or refills during brunch (coffee served in paper cups?). It’s around the corner so we go back but it really doesn’t wow me. No special dishes to recommend. Decently family friendly though not many high chairs considering the families who go.
Brandon Russ
This is my buddy and I's go to spot for a laid back drink. The staff is really awesome, and don't look past their food menu. They put some love in their salmon plate.
Rowena Asti
Always a solid choice for brunch, dinner or drinks. Great atmosphere with a casual vibe. We had a big group for a birthday party and they have a large room at the back of the restaurant to accommodate us. The staff is very attentive and patient. Started with potato crisps sprayed with dill malt aioli, crab cakes, bacon & eggs served family style. I opted for the buttermilk fried chicken served with made from scratch biscuits with gravy for my meal. Hefty serving and quite hearty and good. It was hot and it is very hard to keep the meal hot when there is big group so I was impressed. We ended with chocolate chunk bread pudding and apple cobbler a la mode for dessert. You cannot go wrong ordering anything from the menu at this place plus they have a huge drink selection at the bar. Definitely a great destination for any party or just a casual get together.
KEVIN DESCHEEMAEKER
Stopped here for a quick dinner with friends but turned out to a long nice evening with nice food and some nice cocktails. Definitely recommend this place.
Krista Vezain
Great spot for elevated comfort food. I've had the burger, which is delicious, the mac-n-cheese is rich and creamy, and the grilled cheese with tomato soup is so good. They have a nice draft beer selection, as well. All with great service in a homey atmosphere.
Ana Karen Parra
I first came to this bar the week I turned 21. It was the first few bars I had ever gone to and I didn't know what to expect to be honest it has raised my standards up pretty high. I love the the drinks. The food it great. The grilled cheese is AMAZING. and the atmosphere is just right. I love that they show movies. And the music is great too. I've recommended the local peasant to a lot of friends and I always come back from time to time.
Teresa
Went here for their bloody mary bar and it did not disappoint! Food was delicious. My friends got three different things and shared; our favorite was the mushroom burger, it was ridiculously good! When we first got there, we were the second people there and it took a long time to get a server to come over to take a drink order. Other than that, everything was great.
Minna Donatucci
This is a really nice place. The staff are very much ok the ball. We were a part of a large group and they didn't have any trouble. They have a great room in the back for such parties, which we were very thankful to see, because it let us hear one another without the extra noise from the rest of the place.
The food was tasty, but for someone who cannot eat gluten it was limited. Quite limited. I had the burger without the bun and it was very delicious.
I would recommend this place, but be prepared for fewer choices of you have dietary issues. It's still worth a trip.
Dan Horne
Wonderful food. Great atmosphere. The outside is deceiving. Signage is very small. We almost went somewhere else based on how it looked from the outside. We were very glad we gave it a try. The food and service were both outstanding. A new favorite when we fly into Van Nuys airport. Will definitely recommend to other pilots.
Iris loves life
Came here after quarantine ended and the food was amazing. We had the mac and cheese appetizer, the Big Mac, the steak and fries, and a fish and chips. Everything was superb and we felt completely safe the whole time in terms of Sanitation and social distancing. Can't wait to come back!
efini mazda
First timer here, had a blast. The place had no visible sign at the front which was a bit odd but I was certain I had arrived when I got there. Drinks are reasonably priced, I didn't order any food but got to try some of my parties dishes and they were tasty. Bathrooms are way too small for an establishment that attracts so many people. Had the bathrooms.been more accommodating I would have given 5 stars.
Veronica Hurtado
I really love this place. Great ambiance. Friendly staff. The food is delicious and I like how they take simple foods and add a high end culinary twist to it. Like their pretzel bites and mac and cheese. They have so many beers on tap and they even have a beer for me (I am not usually a beer drinker); Fruli, strawberry Belgium fruit beer. The staff is very knowledgeable about their food and drinks, which helps make a savory adventurous decision. This place is on Ventura Blvd. which immediately sparks the question, parking?? They have valet parking for $4, which is nice and not expensive. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place.

We got an appetizer and 2 entrees. We had a very nice server named John? The food was really good. I really liked the deviled eggs. It was a full restaurant as well. Will come back.
Dawn Martin
Loved the pretzel and hey this place was packed at 6pm so people must love it too. However I felt the rest of our food was just OK. The woman next to me complained about her fish and chips which I specifically ordered based of how they looked when delivered to her. But I had complaints too so I guess she was right. My husband's grilled cheese and soup was good. However too much bread to cheese ratio.

My wife and I are HUGE fans of another Antonia Lofaso joint, Dama, in downtown LA. So when we suddenly got great news on a random Wednesday and wanted to celebrate, we decided to give The Local Peasant a try. We quickly booked a reservation on Resy and headed north to Sherman Oaks.
Dama sets a really high bar with its food, and for us The Local Peasant didn't get to that level. I'd say it's good, but not great.
We started with cocktails and starters--if you're into whiskey you'll definitely like the bar options. For a starter we ordered the Brussel sprouts, and they were good. Well charred so you got that crisp bite you want, but the balsamic glaze pulls the char back a bit behind the bitterness line, to make for a well-balanced plate.
Moving on to main courses, we had a REALLY tough time deciding what to order, as there are many dishes that sound so good when reviewing the menu. Ultimately I settled on the turkey pot pie, because how often can you really get a good, scratch-made pot pie in LA? My wife ordered the fish & chips, and we got a side of charred broccolini to share as well. The fish & chips were definitely the better entree--thick-cut fries with some ENORMOUS pieces of fried fish. Probably the largest portion of fish in a fish & chips that I've ever seen, honestly. I'm sad to report, my pot pie was no bueno! If you're like me and eat with your eyes first, you see the server deliver the pot pie and you're like, "Wow, this is gonna be epic!" Crispy, flaky crust on top, and inside big chunks of turkey and carrots swimming in a creamy sauce. On point, right? WRONG. I couldn't put my finger on what was throwing the flavor off, but it was VERY acidic tasting, almost like someone had dumped like lime juice in the pot pie or something? The sauce inside the pot pie looked creamy but you got zero creamy notes when you actually tasted it. My wife confirmed, it tasted off to her as well. Also, the charred broccolini was anything but--there was zero char on them. Like, not "not enough char," but "literally NO char anywhere." It read more like it had been steamed than charred. It was still good, but it's definitely a misprint to called it charred if that's how it's usually served. Between the broccolini and the pot pie, we came away a bit disappointed.
Service was a little slow at times, which I found odd considering there was hardly anyone there. But staff was friendly and accommodating for sure, especially the bartender with the big beard (I didn't get his name, sadly). He was chatting me up about our whiskey choices, and asked if I had tried one of the other kinds they offer, which I hadn't. He brought me a small amount of it in a glass, on the house, just so I could give it a try and we could compare it to the other whiskeys we had ordered. I thought that was really cool--definitely not something that happens every time you go out (especially in LA), so shout-out to that bartender!
All in all, a good, but not great, experience, especially when compared to other Lofaso restaurant experiences. Although I would give it another chance on another night if I find myself in Sherman Oaks--there were many other dishes on the menu that sounded worth a try. I'd say give The Local Peasant a try, just definitely avoid the pot pie, and remember to chat up your bartender!
Karreno Alexanyan
This is an excellent place to find local craft and international beers, wine, and grab a bite. The bar is packed with variety of different spirits, and the menu has various items to choose from. From the outside its kind of hard to find it, so you just gotta go closer to the white door to see the hours of operation and the business name. Overall, it's a good environment as your neighborhood pub and for social gatherings.
Jessica Gottlieb
I have always loved their smaller plates and the back room is perfect for a party. But today I found out that Jenny the bartender is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to picking the perfect bourbon.
Now if only I could remember which one it was! I guess I’ll have to go back.
Don’t miss their fish and chips or the deviled eggs. Both are fabulous.

Used Grubhub for the first time with a gift card, so we decided to try a new place. The Local Peasant was a great surprise. Food was very tasty, and arrived with custom requests perfectly customized (that was a long sentence). We'll be taking out again, and look forward to actually attending the restaurant some day.
Daniel Morris
Great food great service. First time here and really enjoyed the food. Simple but creative menu. Onion rings to die for...delicious! Will definitely return...service food atmosphere...cool place!
Chasom was Here
Nice little spot with street parking and decent drinks. They give chips as a pre-meal treat (very good). It's worth a stop in if you're around. They have a bar you can sit at and watch the game if needed but outside of that the layout for seating is kind of alright at best.
Neveen Farah
I took my buyer client out and we went to The Local Peasant. We loved our seats by the large open window. Our waiter was great! He explained the different questions we had about the menu. We ordered fish & chips and it was delicious . My client had the short ribs mini sliders and he loved it. He ordered the thick steak fries and they were delicious & perfect inside soft & perfectly fried. I had the Berry mojito and my client also ordered the craftsman's beer of Pasadena. Great location, music, service and love the open concept. Everyone (employees) helped one another that's great to see!

Went here on a date with my hubs. The st up is a little confusing for this oldster. There is hostess station, but we stood there for about 10 minutes with other groups who had been waiting before we got there, and no hostess ever showed up. We ended up grabbing a couple of seats at the bar. Food is really good. I had the short rib sliders, hubs had the fried chicken sammy, and we split the beet salad. All of it was on point. It's small plates style, so don't be afraid to order a few things and fight for the last bite. Drinks were really good. Our bartender was attentive and as he could be on a Friday night at prime time. Noise level (becaise I'm an oldster this matters) was exactly at tolerable. We could still have a conversation, but had to raise our voices or talk directly into the other's ear. It's a Valley bar on a Friday night. No star deducted for it. I expect loud. The table experience may be more muted. Overall, I would definitely return but more likely to plan ahead and make a reservation in advance.

The Local Peasant is always a great place to go, casual great food a variety of beers on tap as well as bottled beers full stocked bar. The variety of food is great tonight I had a burger it was amazing the french fries are thick which makes them even better parking can be challenging, there is valet parking for around $7. Tonight we celebrated a friend's birthday and we've had many events here.
Larry Kraines
We come here almost every Sunday. The menu is small, but very competent. They have creative appetizers and delicious entrees. There are about 20 draft beers and more in bottles. The draft beers constantly change. They also offer some great mixologist cocktails. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have a large backroom that is perfect for private parties and large groups.
Garyn Jones
This restaurant has some of the best everyday food. There's always something on the menu to satisfy my cravings. Whether it's a decadent burger (with fried egg!) or their amazingly refreshing chicken stew! I've even received remarkable off-the-menu recommendations from servers. The cheese-plate is one of the best in the valley. For their drinks they have a great beer menu, but if you like spicy I highly recommend the El Diablo! I have to get one every time I'm there.
Sara Rubin
Service was a bit slow, and lighting was dark. But great beers and ciders on tap, and happy hour menu was pretty good! The prices are also pretty reasonable.
The crowd is a bit hipster though, but that doesn't affect the experience.
Gino Gopez
Awesome pub here on Ventura, they have another location in Woodland Hills as well. I went here for Easter Brunch and had a great time. Our server Leanne was absolutely awesome and she is the reason I am giving a 5 star review, she took really good care of us and was really polite. I would recommend trying the Bacon & Eggs, they are deviled eggs with a small strip of bacon on top and they are delicious!
Amy Davidson
Have been here a couple of times both for dinner and just for drinks. The mac and cheese and bacon and eggs appetizer were delicious. The beer list is great and very well priced. Its a funky, low key place for a nice dinner or drink in the Valley.
John Davison
Amazing restaurant great service and atmosphere
Lydia Rene
Had a great time here eating just about everything. The pretzels with the sauce are Amazingggg, especially the peanut butter sauce. I loved it. The quesadilla was huge and super filling also. Great drinks and atmosphere. I will definitely go back again.
george powell
Nice place for some serious grub. Deviled eggs, cheese balls and pork belly were all great. I even had octopus for the first time, paired with kimchi and fried onions it was quite delectable. Chicken stew, burgers and beef rib were also really good. The only knock i have was the desserts were only so so. Pass on the cornbread pudding. Service was top notch.
Ismael Perez
Great drinks. Staff was really nice. Only had two appetizers, but they were delicious. I'll definitely go back soon
SYEDA PEERAN
Quite a lot of choices on the menu, we split a Fried Chicken Dinner and were surprised at the large piece of corn bread, floating in honey butter, which was a delicious meal by itself! The service was friendly and attentive, thank you Sean M. for a nice evening. Also recommend the crab cakes for appetizer.
GH Lee
Great food and ambiance. I love restaurants with big windows. Everything I’ve ever ordered has been delicately delicious. From fish & chips, mussels, ceviche, great quality burger focused on fresh ingredients and sumptuous flavor. I went yesterday with a friend who went crazy over the fact that they have CHIMAY beer from Belgium 🇧🇪 🍔🍺
Perfect for semi casual date and definitely friends from out of town. Also I love restaurants with a huge center table. Local Peasant has that too. Must go!
Ina Romeo
A secret local gem. The potato crisps are soooo good, and crunchy. Yum for the tum tum. Drinks have loads of alcohol in them, and are DELICIOUS 😋 Hamburgers are juicy good too. …
Léonardo Fuica
One of the best place I went so far. The staff is very nice. The Ambiance was very good, the food was good but limited the price are affordable and the restrooms or something clean( the only reason that I don't give it a 5 out of 5 is for the restrooms and The Limited menu)
Adrielle Oso Elleie
Good food! Great drinks!!!
Bradley Isa
Food was great, good selection of beers. Nice casual atmosphere. We sat at a communal table in the center of the room. Busy but not loud like you sometimes get in a big open environment.
Garret Bever
This has been one of my favorite restaurants for a few years, and always my choice for my birthday dinner. The food is top notch ( I suggest the chicken salad sandwich which is seasonal btw, or the mac and cheese is absolutely ridiculous good ) . If you are a beer aficionado you will find a nice selection, and the watermelon cocktail is amazing as well. I highly recommend you give the Local Peasant a chance. Also on Friday through Sunday make a reservation for a better experience and shorter wait
Kyle U
Food was really good. But, wow. Service? Took well over 20 min to place a drink order, another 10 for beers to come and then place an order. Server dissapeared right after food was dropped off. Had to flag someone down for another drink despite server walking by, seeing drinks were empty and continuing to walk by (several times). Also, was not a busy night by most standards. Desert menu dropped off, then again, third server dissapears. Walks by later notices our drinks are empty, menu upside down and walks by, twice. Eventually had to go out of my way to ask for the bill. Ten minutes and counting sitting with my card on the table now.
Heard lots of great things about this place. Honestly, wouldnt come again. At least not this location. So many good place to go out and spend my money at and not be ignored and have to ask for basic service.
Natalie K
I almost drove off and went somewhere else because the Local Peasant looks so sketchy from the outside. It's situated on Ventura Blvd in the most unexpected block. I actually drove past it twice looking for it.
The inside, however, is surprisingly nice. They have both bar and table seating. The food selection isn't all that impressive. They have burgers, salads, and a few appetizer items. I had their bacon cheese pretzel with truffle oil. The truffle oil was $1.50 extra and a total waste of money. The oil didn't have any truffle scent. The pretzel itself was also not very impressive. It was to dense and a little dry.
Their drinks selections are much better. They have several beers on tap and a lot of bottled beer options. They have a small cocktail list but they can pretty much make you whatever you'd like.
The service is pretty good. There are a lot of people working. The kitchen closes at 11pm but the bar stays open till 2am. They have valet parking in the back but there is also plenty of street parking.
Denisse Montalvan
Everything about The Local Peasant is great! From the ambience to it's rustic feel, service but most of all the food. You can't go wrong with any of the menu options but if you want a heaven-like experience, get the brie, walnut apple pancakes for brunch. Guaranteed to keep you coming back!
Adam Campbell
Came here twice in two weeks. Had the Chop salad both times, which is quite tasty. My issue is the service at the bar. I went dry twice, and it took the bartender 15 minutes each time (not an embellishment) to ask if I wanted another drink. Very "Nashville, hipster" vibe in LA but the service needs a boost.
holly dye
My favorite LOCAL place! Food is wonderful. Today was brunch. Egg sandwich, crab cakes Benedict, and bread pudding.
Ashley Kane
Great food, great atmosphere, great service!! Tried some of the signature cocktails and they're fantastic! The beer selection is the best I've seen in the valley!! Can't wait to make this my "local" spot!!
matthewjrnewman
This place is really cool. When it first opened up it was a sight for sore eyes in the area. Sherman oaks is an absolute got bed for twenty something's but it was missing a nightlife. The local peasant was a fantastic addition to the neighborhood and I've been coming here regularly since they opened. Only issue I have is that it can get really packed. The drink list is really good
Bobby Gibbons
I used to like this place. They have an outstanding selection of beer, tasty food and everyone who works there is super nice! The problem is the local talent that has also found this great bar. It still seems safe to go during the afternoon, but don't go in the evening or night unless have a fond taste of Douchebags.
Brooke Saad
The tables were way too close together, and it was very very crowded for a happy hour that was really not worth it. the cocktail was really bomb though the slushy one on the menu with a happy hour you should totally try that slushie from the happy hour but other than that nothing special
Kevin Eckelkamp
Great food. Service was awesome! Kale wrapped Halibut w sautéed mushroom salad. crab cakes were melt in your mouth. Cobbler and vanilla ice cream was delish. highly recommend.
Catalina Callejas
Such a nice ambiance and bartender. We came right when the kitchen was closing and yet they still allowed us to order food and prepared it without rush. Hands down the best burger I’ve ever had.
Zac Armstrong
Great service and nice place. Decor was snazzy and staff were great. Good food with the turkey pot pie being my favorite. Music was a little loud but will definitely go back.
Robert M
We were there for the happy hour. The food was decent, service was prompt, and it was a bargain. Deviled eggs were tasty and came with a small salad. The sliders were also, good and came with fries.
Karla Escobar
Nice local spot for drinks, they had Rosé on tap which was interesting, and if you have a small party most likely won't need a reservation during the week.
Matt MacLennan
Ticks all the boxes for a decent pub. They make more effort with the food, so it's a notch above your average pub but not a super strong kitchen. Big place, good for watching sports events on a big screen as well.
Bryan Chabrow
If you can find it then you should definitely go inside- it is not marked on the outside at all. Very LA vibe but in the chill Ventura corridor of the Valley. They have a great craft beer list and fun takes on some classics like mac and cheese and deviled eggs. I've heard they have a huge set up for bloody mary's on weekends where you can make your own, but I haven't tried it yet- on my list though!
Chris Lyle
Great crafty cocktails, deviled eggs, crispy cauliflower. Not enough chimichurri on the steak frites but still tasty! Will go back.
Anthony Ortiz
Great bar food . Great drinks . Can't go wrong with this place .
Alonzo Cudd
This place is great. Especially now they have happy hour. One of the few gastropubs in Sherman Oaks that has the cool vibe you normally get at an LA joint. Deviled eggs are fantastic!
James Peter
This place is your typical gastropub, beers on tap, nicer burgers, and easy eats. The people that work here are pretty friendly so that's a plus. They're a little short on parking but that's nothing unusual for the area.
Dtwc22
The Local Peasant is Fantastic! Welcome to the new face of Sherman Oaks! This local Pub & Eatery packs a splendid punch of Food & Drink that will get any Foodies taste buds ready to explode! The Atmosphere here is cozy, dim lit & sophisticated all in one. Like the ever evolving Ventura BLVD, The Local Peasant has many faces, a trait that makes this Gastro-Pub truly unique & an absolute must visit when in town. One can sit and strike up conversation at the Bar, ( Beer & Spirit selection is excellent ) or sit and dine on wonderfully inventive Entrees accompanied by the perfect coctail. Prices are moderate to expensive but well worth your dollar indeed. Wether you're here to watch the game during happy hour, or sit along Ventura blvd with the windows open for Brunch, ONE thing will always remain the same!! Great food, great drinks & a great time awaits all who frequent The Local Peasant!! I give this Two Thumbs Up!! 👍👍
Judy Coller
Very upscale pub with incredible food. Great food from appetizers to desserts. Wonderful menu and great service. Wide assortment of beers. One of my favorite restaurants in Los Angeles.

Bob Drew
Fun spot with good food & tap list. Bartenders were super helpful and friendly. Nice atmosphere & service.

Tim Campbell
Just love this place. The staff are so friendly, the beer list is always awesome... The food is a little pricey but always delicious. Our favorite local spot.
Dominic (Dom)
The food here has been good, although it seems the plates have gotten smaller since the last time I visited. Overall a nice restaurant.
Debbie Dromo
Absolutely my fav spot to grab a beer with friends. Terrific selection of brews and great food too! easy to park on the street. Get in there early, so you can get a seat!
Luis Alfonso Torrero
Food was good, nice place to eat. Considering we're going through a pandemic. The restaurant took care that Covid-19 protocols were in place. Excellent service. I'll be coming back soon.
Freddy Garcia
A Great place. Highly recommend it. Food is really good, nice selection of beers and wines.
Johnathan Robinson
Cool atmosphere but their cocktails were surprisingly very weak and their heirloom tomatoes were clearly just generic tomatoes on par of quality with the Ralphs across the street.
Wasn't terrible but I'd prefer The One Up
Michael Kamali
Great selection of craft and local beers.. to include a few Belgian Beers. Mixed drinks are on point.. Salads are fresh and flavorful
John Cary
Clearly the one of the best meals all weekend. A great balance of flavor, quality, and ambiance. The service was friendly and fast and really liked the open windows.
Thomas Kotcheff
Tasty food and great beer selection. It can get really loud in here and can often be a long wait to get a table in the evening. A little bit pricey too.
Laura Landin
It was a very busy night, we were kept posted on when a table would become available, food was good the drinks were better. Great place to hang and catch up with friends.
Hannah Powers
Delicious food. A great new American spot in Sherman Oaks. The ceviche was delicious, fresh, and flavorful. Great selection of beer, and fun creative cocktails.
George Birkedahl
Love the buttermilk chicken sandwich. The lemon pepper wings were real good the dill ranch dipping sauce was very good.
Tosh Hostetter
Great place for drinks and a bite to eat. Love their deviled eggs and whiskey selection. It can get pretty busy, but it's worth it.
Leona
The absolute best Cheesecake(with strawberry topping) ...I have ever had in my entire life! (and I've bought a few from some "well-known" places) 😉 …
Michael Karle
Nice little spot to escape the heat and hangout with good vibes for drinks and great food.
bryce lomonaco
Excellent drink selection. Really good and inventive food. Only detraction was the ambiance was too dark for what is primarily a restaurant.
Connor Murphy
Great drinks, great staff, absolutely love Zach
Gary Kean
Really good share plates. We shared fish and chips, devilled eggs, Mama's meatballs and wedge salad. Asparagus side was exceptional.
Angelica Carr
The crab sandwich was awesome. The potatoes that came with the sandwich were just ok. Overall great experience I would definitely come back.
Frank Blackwell
Good selection of food. Helpful staff. Not crowded. Had bacon and eggs, burger and chicken sandwich with wedge cut fried. Also whiskey lemonade.
Lou Woolf
Great food, great atmosphere...What else could you ask for?
Tom Young
Local P is a super cool place to grab a brew and some dungeness crab hush puppies, maybe a spicy chicken sandwich. perfect for a later hangout/ dinner with a group.
JOSE LUIS zarate
This was one of my favorite places to go I've been going here since they open good brew and food every time .everyone I go in I spend over 300 but these couple of times service has been horrible me bein a faithful client gave it a chance but this last time I was turned away by security he said sorry sir but your kind can't come in was very offended that I almost retaliate My wife and I just decide to go to another bar . From waiters having a bad day and giving us bad service from racist security this place had lost my business
Kay Khoy
Food is good service could be better
Brandon Calderon
Experts in Mixology, great snacks , lunch and appetizers. Great customer service.
Music could be a bit higher in volume for my 5th star.
Patrick Dunham
Great little pub that serves creative appetizer style food. Coming here with friends is the best. Good prices for drinks. Nice style pub.
Lori Harmon
We sat at the bar and had a bartender wait on us who clearly hated his job! The food was decent some of it was good the cocktails could have been better and the service definitely could have been better!

Amazing burger and the fries are thick and delicious. House made chips with vinegar and oil is also a great item here.

Good food. Little overpriced for the service and the small plates they serve. Would help if they decided to go after 1 target market.
Marconi de Morais
Great atmosphere, great service, nice selection of beers, just wish they had a bit more menu options, specially for finger food/appetizers.
Donald Fessman

Stephanie Kushner

Matthew Levitt
Decent American food. Burgers, onion rings. Small menu. Small and relatively intimate setting
Roxy Gaffigan
Sherman Oaks doesn't have a lot of nice, cool bars. The Local Peasant is great. Just get there early before all the seats are gone.
