Reviews of HMS Bounty
john Barriga
A restaurant that feels so secretive that it feels like a place to eat for a mafia boss. Moody light and furniture that comes from early 1900’s for the perfect atmosphere to enjoy some Italian dishes. A chicken Pam goes for 14$ and yet, it feels like a plate for 18$. The vegetables were steamed wonderfully with a moist piece of chicken. However, the chicken wasn’t crisp and the spaghetti was quite bland but, the sauce carried it. Came in a group of 7 and for those that ordered the chicken Alfredo the pasta was thick but, the sauce was said to be lack luster. Even with these faults the food was wonderful and I extremely recommend to come here for dinner 100%!

Yesterday was my second time eating at this restaurant, the first was on Thanksgiving day. Both experiences have been pleasant. The steaks are flavorful and cooked to perfection. The vegetables are delicious as well. The servers are attentive which is great. I cant wait to go back and try another dish.

It is our first time eating here because we are looking for steak to eat. The place was really cool and I love the less lighted ambiance. The steak was sumptouos, juicy and tender. 👌🏻That is what we are looking for a steak. I salute the lady servant who serve us, she was so approachable and professional. I met the manager named Ramon and he entertain as well, and he also gave us calamares for free. (Idk why😅) maybe because I was filming our entire stay and I was live streaming on facebook. We will definitely go back in there and I will highly recommend.

Not only does this place look really really cool, but the food is great and affordable! Their steaks are so good.
This restaurant has been here since 1930s and it's one of my new favorite restaurants! The servers and the owner are awesome and have a really fun character.
Scott Nelson
One of the most freakin’ amazing old authentic places in LA. Down to the original cash registers and they still stamp the checks in the register. How cool! Love these places that don’t change. This was a frequent scene for the series Mad Men. Even the food is good. You can’t beat this. And the music! Transport.
Brandon Carter
Definitely not a place I would come back to. I asked if they served margaritas. She said they did and so I ordered a strawberry one with extra Tahin. She brought me the tiniest margarita I have ever been served in my life with little to no Tahin.
And as I'm trying to enjoy this sample of a drink, I was told that next time they would not allow me in if I were a tank top. She need not worry, I won't be back.
Then as I was leaving, I noticed another guy in a tank top at the bar :-\
It might've been a language barrier, or just the tone in their voice, but the servers here didn't seem friendly.
Luis Lavarreda
This location was cozy, warm, and welcoming. The people in there were all friendly and extremely happy to help and make sure our experience was great.
Ashley
Really relaxing environment.
Nice decor, nice seating, warm and welcoming.
Got a Long Island and it was really good! Mixed well and not too alcohol tasting. Love it when they get those right! Haha
Hugh Adelsperger
Great place, Friendly service, very kind and funny busboy, alway'a make my day with his a sense of humor.
Nice old school dive bar,and very reasonable prices.
My go to place when visiting Los Angeles.
Eric Aguilar-Rosales
Great place to come and relax after a long day at work , service is immaculate and the bartenders are absolutely amazing. The food is pretty good for a bar and the atmosphere is very nice and welcoming.

Always a fun spot. An unassuming door leads to a bar & kitchen that always delivers maximum value. When other places may be closed for a big holiday, The Bounty abides & sails true. Their holiday menus are hard to beat. This Thanksgiving a complete roast turkey dinner was $13 & change. It included a tomato bisque soup (or choice of salad) & pumpkin pie for dessert. This charming hidden gem is ship shape thanks to it's very nice staff & old school jukebox (excellent variety of tunes). It's also a fun place to catch a game & play CA lotto bingo (never thought I'd play bingo but after a few drinks it was pretty fun). Lastly, there's a $5 whining fee at the bar, so don't do it ;)
Daniel Golarz
This place is HEAVEN! No loud music to make you eat quickly and GET OUT like the rest of the restaurants in this country. Love this place. Very RELAXED atmosphere.
Evelyn Javelosa
The Rib Eye was delicious, the carrots were perfect, and they made a real, tasty chocolate martini (off menu). The staff was lovely and attentive. I really enjoyed my time there.

Glad to be back one of my favs back when I lived north of Wilshire. Stiff drinks good music and cute patrons. One of the best bars in LA
Gary I.
Cool dive bar w/ a nautical theme which is named after HMS Bounty w/ Captain Bligh which had a crew that was half loyal to him & the other half dedicated to Fletcher Christian who was leader of the mutiny.
This bar is next to the Gaylord Apartments so for those denizens it is a mere ride down the elevator, through the side door in the expansive lobby into the confines of the Bounty. How convenient....food & drink just a minute away from your abode.
The interior w/ its nautical theme must date back at least to the 1940's w/ plush "leather' upholstered horseshoe shaped booths as well as more straight backed chairs & tables. This place feels as though it is filled w/ the passing of many people over the many decades of its existence. The dark interior & low ceiling create a cocoon like feel & make you feel as though you've entered a time warp going back 70 years.
There is a genteel patina of old age that makes this place seem full of nostalgia & good times. The customers seem to take this cue, & there is a certain conviviality & friendliness among the regulars who seem to allow strangers & newbies to fit right in.
We came in for the old fashioned vibes after seeing the nearby Pavilion for Japanese Art at LACMA. HMS Bounty was decorated for the winter holidays which added more lights, golden bells, holiday trees for a more festive feel.
Food here lends itself to more of traditional American fare such as different variation of steaks, sandwiches, American breakfast like eggs & ham or an omelet, rack of lamb, broiled or sauteed fish, fried or Scampi shrimp, appetizers are eclectic w/ shrimp cocktail, hot wings, onion rings, french fries, and quesadilla, chicken taquitos as a salute to the fact our city is named Los Angeles.
I ordered 3 pieces of rack of lamb medium rare. The meat had a bit of gaminess & the nearer you got to the bone, the fattier in taste it became. Good solid portions in a bit of au jus.
Broccoli spears were cooked al dente w/ a bright green color. The under cooking of the broccoli made the texture of the stems crispy & refreshing.
The fries seemed frozen, but they did fry them more crispy as requested. I didn't use the mint jelly since I felt it would add unneeded sweetness & artificial mint flavour. For $1.50 extra you can order a salad of romaine lettuce, shredded purple cabbage & carrots, your choice of dressing.
The glass of Merlot in a clunky Libby-like small wine glass was plonk which was to be expected in a dive bar setting. I knew ahead of time it wasn't going to be from some well respected vigneron.
Since I was in a setting that seemed to hark many decades back, I ordered an old fashioned drink called a Grasshopper to serve as dessert. It consists of heavy cream, Creme de Menthe, Creme de Cacao, ice & blended so the drink is slightly slushy.
Unfortunately, milk was substituted which made it watery & not creamy as well as not having enough Creme de Cacao to infuse a more chocolate flavour so that the more astringent Creme de Menthe taste was predominant. Maybe mixed drinks are not HMS Bounty's forte.
4 stars for the ambiance & 3 stars for the food & drinks = 3+ stars overall.

This has been my favorite bar in K-Town since I moved into the neighborhood in 2002. The bar has a lot of rich history behind it. Its old LA at its finest. The decor is original from the 40s. The theme is old British pub with a nautical theme. The staff is super friendly, the drinks and food are well served and affordable. Noe is the best daytime bartender ever. Her memory is incredible. She will never forget a name.
Nicholas Monter
Generous pours and although the food isn't "the best" - it's good and reasonably priced. It is also a great place to people watch and if you go to the bar, you'll strike up conversations with strangers.
Matt Stauffer
My favorite neighborhood bar. Lots of regulars and friendly staff who remember your name.
Giles Tuck
Lively neighborhood eatery with retro cool décor. Well priced American fare. Can get crowded
Gena Vazquez
Just an all around great hidden spot with lots of LA history. Affordable dinners and drinks. Fast and friendly service.
Sage McFarland
Amazing food! It happened to be my birthday and I asked for a cheesecake and they brought it out with an entire crew singing happy birthday. I strongly suggest this place it may not look good on the outside but the inside is amazing. It’s also a great place to bring you kids! Thank you workers at HMS bounty!!!
Joshua Heartstone
This is my favorite dive bar. I love the nautical theme. Good place for friends to get together. Food here is decent, seafood bar food but it does the trick! Starting the night with the Wiseman special will make it a good time. Bathrooms are in the neighboring building but it's a nice adventure.
Vasin Sornprasitti
It is Christmas time the end of year 2019.If you feel lonely please feel free to come here. There are many strangers for you but it is pretty high class, so people who come here may help you out somehow or maybe you may find a sweetheart at here.
Erich Homsher
I came to this restaurant in a party of 12. We were so happy that all of us could sit together. The service was perfect, all the food and drinks were delicious. My Fish and Chips were fantastic. The atmosphere is just amazing. It is like stepping back in time. All of us had a great time and did not lack of anything. The server really worked hard to get us everything we needed and the food was very hot coming to our tables. The manager was very kind to us and allowed several tables to be put together so we could eat together. He could have easily asked us to divide and sit in the booth seats. We were treated like V.I.P.s. I would recommend HMS Bounty to anyone.
Napoleon V
Only a few of these places are still around. Great value, welcoming service. Back in the day, we used to go here when Ambassador Hotel was still around.
Jen Diamond
The HMS bounty hasn't changed much in the twenty years I've been in LA and I suspect it has been a lot longer than that it's a great neighbor bar/lounge. If you like Taix you'll like it here too. It gets crazy noisy when it's full and it's easier to pay with cash. You can split the check off you're in a group so be ready to Venmo. There is cool banquet seating, a large amount of awesome sailing paraphernalia and a fun crowd to mix with. It's a great place for a pirate themed party. Arrrrr.
George Branigan
Great cocktails. Jumbo shrimp cocktail. Great staff. Christmas prime rib $17. Still going after 50+years.
Jeff Safran
My favorite bar in Los Angeles. Going for decades and it’s never changed.
Bret Bass
This place is ultra funky, in the best way. Kitschy, dare I say ketchy? A nautical-themed pub with fun people, good vibes, and a weirdly serene yet surreal sense of community, as though a group of travelers in limbo stopped here for a drink. The jukebox was blasting 80s ska. My new favorite watering hole.
Ivan Guzman
It was fun with good drinks and great drunks
Matt Sickert
The pricing is fair for what you get, it also came out fairly fast even though it was decently busy. The atmosphere was great, red lights, fun crowd and good music makes for a great night. Sadly, our server was not good. It was like pulling teeth for the hour and a half we were there. We actually had someone else actually grab our drinks and get us the bill in the end. Everything else was great, but I haven't had service this bad in a long time.
Michael Lee
Great dive bar attached to a hotel on the busy street of Wilshire Blvd. The drinks are cheap, the people are chill, and the food isn't half bad despite. It doesn't get too busy during the weekdays but can get busy on weekends so check this place out if you're looking for a nice dive bar to bring a date. Throw on your favorite tunes in the juke box, order some wings, and relax with some cheap drinks on the bar top.
Steve Griegoliet
I found this bar on several lists of unique bars in LA, it was a fine bar but don't go if you're looking for novelty.
Food was really good, but no draft beer.
Nick Benish
Fakest bar I went to in LA. This place wishes they were a dive-bar. I got served a half-frozen corona for $7 and a pathetic g&t for $11. The bartenders clearly didn’t know what they were doing. Great vibe if you’re someone who is scared of the rest of LA.
Jeff McLean
Best $20 New York steak & potent drinks in this old style ship galley. People are genuinely friendly and 100% down with the grog.
Andrea Mendoza
I love a good dive bar! Nice and cozy on the inside, had a tasty chocolate martini and decided to try a steak, filet mignon special for $13?! I couldn’t pass it up. My filet was delicious for the price point, my boyfriend got the baseball steak and it was great too, which I’ll probably order the next time I’m there; it was accompanied with some tasty broccoli (had a great garlicky flavor) and some mashed potatoes which were meh, everything else was spot on though. All my favorite classic rock bands were playing on the jukebox all night, when the country started playing that was my cue to leave. I’ll definitely be back, I think I found my new local dive bar close to home!
Chris Gavin
These are the drink prices you want to pay. Divey vibe. I’ve heard the food is good too.
Lee S
A laid back, modest pub with a lot of history, friendly bartenders and servers who call you by name. Food is great British/American fare, cooked to order. Menu is limited but consistently good with generous portions. Friends and I Really comfortable, intimate old-school atmosphere with cozy booths and tables. Food and bar drinks are a great value for the price. Mixed crowd of hipsters, artists and regular folks, gay, straight & multicultural. Everyone feels welcome!. I believe it's 21 & over (at least I hope so, kids would ruin this place!). Favorite comfort food is the fish & chips. Well drinks are cheap! :-)
David 'Dutch' Schultz
One of the long-lasting English pubs left in the Los Angeles area that provides the atmosphere of far-off lands with delicious food and plenty of Grog to drink!
Mike M
Nice Dive Bar. Good food and better prices.
Travis Keller
My favorite bar in LA. Five stars always.
Dale Emery
This is a one of a kind Los Angeles landmark. A dimly lit, red booth classic vibe combined with a vaguely nautical theme. Throw in a solid kitchen (at a value!), an old school jukebox and great family service and BOOM. It works. Winston Churchill drank here and it feels like he might still be sitting at the end of the bar.
Adelina M
First time at HMS Bounty. Atmosphere was comfortable. Loved the piped in music of the different genres. Wait staff were great! Food excellent!
Zach Newman
dark and divey, a respite on wilshire. the fries were decent, the cocktails okay. the ambience and vibe, however, makes it really worth a trip.
Derek (Hurfone)
Great LA Bar... and probably like the ship herself...tight quarters at the bar.
Hannah McFarland
Food is so good and affordable and servers are SO sweet and fun. A very lively place, so cool! ☺️
Karen
Super divey old school bar with inexpensive drinks and a chill atmosphere. I typically order a $5 dirty martini (or a few!) and some snacks like shrimp cocktail, onion rings, or the cheesecake. Pretty traditional American cuisine and quick service for bevs.
Troy Hinds
Great atmosphere, friendly people. Loved it.
Random American
Absolutely a fantastic unique experience. It has 2 sets of doors, which closes out all daylight and gives an "underground " or "boat ship " kind of vibe with leather seats and goosed over tables. Fantastic service. Also it's connected to 'The Gaylord' hotel next door. So in order to get to the bathroom you have to leave the 'Ship' into a modern fancy hotel, and then go down some stairs, and past an old very LA/NYC vibe Laundry room to get to the bathroom. Very cool no lie lol.
Rolfe Jones
HMS Bounty is a fantastic old world place in the modern world in the heart of Los Angeles. Good food, a good bar and lovely booths to sit and enjoy. The service is outstanding. Don't miss out on the American icon.
Kristin Paul
A true Los Angeles classic. I went back to this place on a recent visit to family in LA and it brought me back in time. The staff are the best -- friendly, courteous. This a fun drinking spot with tons of LA nostalgia. And the baseball steak is a great meal for a good value.
James Cupit
Such a friendly place. We had drinks and meals here all 6 nights of our vacation. All bartenders and wait staff were extremely hospitable and skilled in their craft. Food was sooooo good and reasonably priced. Jukebox has great tunes. On our final day, I was lucky to have had the opportunity to have met the owner. He worked here as a teenager in the 60's and mentored under the prior owner before purchasing the HMS Bounty. He told me that he would never change a thing about the Bounty for as long as he lived. Please don't, because the place is perfect!
Michael Goodall
I have wanted to go here for a long time. While I was slightly underwhelmed by the less-than-authentic pub atmosphere that I was expecting, the steak and the fish & chips were delicious. It is in the Gaylord building and to get to the rest rooms you need to go through the apartment building lobby, which has some excellent architecture and historical displays.
Tim Collins
The service at lunch on a Saturday was better than any I've experienced in at a diner/bar in LA before. Not only were the waiters attentive, they were genuinely friendly. The food was good for the price, which is very reasonable. The atmosphere is very very unique, very intimate, yet relaxed and friendly.
Melanie Andrews
Great jukebox, old school bar that's not quite a dive. Great for day drinking. Can be crowded on weekends. Nice & dark with regulars who have been drinking there for decades. Very sweet bartenders. No craft cocktails here. The Wiseman special & the baseball steak are some of the best deals in the neighborhood.
T
One of my favorite spots. Food is great. Service is great.
Veera Devine
My husband, friends and I hang here every Friday. We celebrate birthdays n other happy occasions. Drinks flowing. Juke box playing, always meeting new people, plus great bar food. We love this place.
Dan Kegel
$50 for dinner for two with drinks. Not for foodies, but not bad. Liked the '70's jukebox music. Cozy. This seems like a good dive bar... parking was a pain, though.
The petit steaks are just the right size. I had to go and get onion rings, too, which put me over the edge, I'm still too full.
Tip: if you have a grill, your steaks will be just as good as theirs. But you probably don't have the jukebox or the atmosphere.
Michael DiDomenico
Went here on Sunday afternoon. They have cheap drinks. Don't think you would do great ordering anything too fancy. Seems like most of the people are regulars, which I always like about a bar. A lot of the people were there to watch football. They have a nice old wooden bar and lots of tables. It is nice and dark. As my girlfriend said, "It's easy to lose track of time in here!"
Jerome Duplush
Koreatown staple. Koreatown is amazingly starting to look like Tokyo. Energy, great vibes and the Bounty sits as a throwback to an earlier time, totally fits this part of town. Cool people, fun atmosphere, affordable drinks and in the bottom of a historic hotel. True LA spot.
warden white
One of the older restaurants in town, located in the Gaylord hotel. I think that this restaurant has Superior Seafood, the prices are extremely good and the staff is extremely friendly. It's a good place for some of the young artist types to hang out as the bar is always packed with them and the place always has a lively field. It has a separate dining room where it's a little quieter, and you can just enjoy the food.
David Bouzanquet
This is a wonderful place left over from the old Hollywood era. I was there recently with an old friend for lunch and drinks. They have all your standard drinks and I had a great chop shrimp.salad. I was very surprised at how good it was. If you're looking for an old-style bar that is dark and intimate this is the place for you.
Daniel Xavi Mendez
I like this place it's cozy and looks like a ship inside. Reasonably priced but they have a two drink minimum for drinks, which is weird I think.
J C
The food here is 5 stars, atmosphere is fantastic, the service was not good. We are visiting from Austin and this restaurant was referred to us by our tour guide since our hotel was in koreatown. The fries were perfectly fried with just the right amount of crunch and the prime rib was a perfect medium rare. My wife had to ask for water 3 times and our cokes were not refreshed until we asked. I was not told about the drink special for happy hour which is a beer and a shot for $5.50 which sounds fantastic. I ordered a double jack and it was $14 which is terrible. I highly recommend this restaurant and I'm hoping that I just caught the waitress on an off day, just order the beer and shot for $5.50. 14 dollars for a double jack. Yikes.
Canday Ray
This was my go to spot when I worked down the street for this place. I only got their fish and chips. Oh goodness was it delicious. The fish is tender but has a crispy batter plus the malt vinegar, it is absolutely delicious. And they give a good amount of fries that are hot and crispy.
Tarell Benton
Very affordable place for drinks and snacks. Dark naughtical environment keeps it cozy, but remember this is a bar.
Farrukh Ali
Decent bar and good drinks
Craig Willford
I stumbled in off the street in a sure bright day and you'd place was nice and dark and chill. I didn't see a lot of choices for beer on tap which is what I was looking for but the whiskey was good and the pour not too shabby. There is great character and ambiance for sure!
Giancarlo Surla
A cozy hole-in-the-wall bar with friendly service. Attached to the Gaylord apartments, there are usually plenty of regulars here. It gets pretty crowded on weekend evenings. It's a no frills watering hole with cheap drinks. As far as food goes, I like their Ceasar Salad and Chicken Wings. Be sure to check out their specials on the board outside.
Lion King
Place smell like a bar, well it has a bar but most of been lots of smoking back in the days and very dark. Can't see if your food is well cooked or clean. Place has been around for many years. I feel like it's for older people.
Behzad M
This place is absolutely wonderful. It is a unique bar, that brings you back to an episode of Cheers, without the beer on tap (bottles only) and Norm. Instead, you can order yourself a Baseball Steak (medium rare) and a Wiseman's Special (shot of whiskey or tequila and a beer).
Sasha Davila
Love this legit dive bar! Pretty affordable but kind of small. The interior is really cool like a pirate ship. Street parking can be tough sometimes. Food is amazing!
Michelle Morgan
Definitely an older man's watering hole, but a decent place to grab a meal. Been here a few times, never alone. And on each visit, I've never strayed past their cheeseburger with fries or fish and chips and onion rings as an appetizer. Depending on what day of the week you come depends on the crowd, but usually it feels really mellow.
James Williams
Stumbled into this bar because we were waiting for Boiling Crab around the corner.
It has an old school charm, with an older crowd that's uber friendly, and the drinks are reasonably priced!
Small bar area and the other half is a restaurant. I heard from the regulars that the food here is actually pretty good. Will try that next time.
Happy hour is until 7pm and they have a whiskey shot and beer combo for $5.50. It's their "Wise Man" special. Although drinking that from 5-7pm is probably not that wise!
Until next time HMS Bounty!
William Ashman
Real LA. It's got this downtown meets MacArthur park meets Korea Town meets echo park vibe and everyone is there to have a really good social time with their friends in what feels like an old time restaurant and bar and the steaks are really something special for the value and experience. The service staff there are genuine and part of the team for what feels like forever and they make the place feel like home. Must go you guys!
PAUL
Like a never land restaurant. Inside the restaurant, there are many boats footing on the wall like you are sitting on the big boat traveling back to a hundred year ago.
Jeannette G.
Great place to have lunch. Right across from the old Ambassador Hotel. On my visit I had the soup and 1/2 sandwich. Choice of soup -- clam chowder was hearty and delicious. Ham 1/2 sandwich was great -- thick ham slice, not deli cut meat. Great service too.
John Pham
This place is the epitome of a dive bar without the bad stuff. (aka its clean and doesn't smell)
Service is excellent and drinks are cheap af. Looks very unassuming from the outside but when you walk in, it's like you went back in time and landed in a ship out at sea in the 40's.
Lance Johnson
I was looking for mid price range steak dinner and unfortunately that's exactly what I got. The Bounty is a beautiful bar with all the ambience, you can just feel the history, that, is amazing. If you're looking for a steak dinner that is on the inexpensive side, probably Sizzler is a much better choice. The service is ok, very kind staff, it's a bar that serves dinner not a restaurant that has a bar if you know what I'm saying.
Kevin Eubanks
Classic "old man " bar, plus full of L.A. hay day history. Great menu choices, strong drinks, and an infusion of young people to add to the flavor. Dark and intimate booths, and fun bar top
Candy Kane
They have the best affordable filet mignon ever! Cooked to perfection!.. Service is great.. And yummy margaritas too!..
It's the best (you didn't even know something this great was here) place!..
Great for a date place on slower weekdays or early evening.. And great for a fun bar spot during busy hours too!.. I highly recommend!!
Nicholas Nguyen
Hard to define a great dive bar, but this is it, if not better, since they serve food up to midnight. Annie the bartender is a real master of her craft. And the wise man special (a shot and a beer) for $6, well, it's the best drink deal in Koreatown
Steven Plutte
Authentic dive bar. You just can't paint a faux patina and end up with this. This is the real deal and the menu prices haven't been updated since the 80s. Great value on old school American Cuisine. There's no pork belly served on square plates here.
thebigal1
Service was fast, drinks were good, prices were great. Atmosphere has a fun naval theme with a lot of dark wood.
Bernie Stern
Great food. Old school LA steakhouse vibe. Awesome "Wiseman" drink special if you're looking to grab a buzz on a budget. Had the Baseball Steak and it was cooked perfectly.
Kelly Rogers Jackson
Loud. Food was subpar at best. Considering the great reviews I was thoroughly disappointed.
otisthedrifter
Friendly staff, good food, good prices and stiff drinks. PLUS the atmosphere is chill. What more do you need?
Jake Mackey
Very old school and so unhip that it is hip. No draft beer, just bottles. The old pictures on the wall, the old posters celebrating the former (?) owners jazz career, and the wonderfully outdated decorations and employees create very much a cheers atmosphere...which is only broken by the all the hipsters who have "discovered" the place. Still a cool, funky experience.
Gordon Vasquez
Cocktails in K-Town ... classic.. must see
Susan Facklam
My boyfriend and I love this place!
Ivonne Umana
Ambiance was antiqyish, very friendly environment. Good portion on the food. Look forward to coming back
Martha C Wilson
Love this place, Love the people, Love the food, Love the music - juke box, a great pour on the drinks too. Open at noon on Sundays, not 2, so come in for the Sunday special! Cheeseburger, fries and a coke for $3.99; All beef hot dog, fries and a coke for $3.99; A big salad and a coke for $3.99; Bacon eggs and hash browns and coffee for $3.99!!! Watch your sports, enjoy the ambiance.
Justin Lee
Nice underground Cafe. Very surprisingly pretty
Michelle Gerdes
Love this place. Right out of an old Hollywood movie. Feel like an old Hollywood star is going to walk right through the place while you're sitting there. If the walls could only talk. Food was fine some things much better than others and drinks are great
Bryan Stephens
This has been a favorite haunt of mine for years. The food can be hit or miss but it's the bar and drinks you come for.
B P93
Favorite bar in LA hands down
Kirsten Hart
This has become somewhat of a watering hole for my friends and I in koreatown. I don't know any other bars that have selections this cheap! The wise man's special is only $5.50-- a beer and a shot! The food is perfectly American and exactly what you would expect for the price you pay. There is also more selection than most other bars with food. I live the dimly lit old time vibe of the bar. The juke box is a perk as well!

Vintage decor that borders on kitsch in the best way, high value cocktails, and no nonsense, efficient service from capable staff. The kind of place you almost hate to review for fear of adding to the crush of thisrty customers.
Ooodrae O
Cheers to the amazing staff. Solid place for dinner and drinks. It never gets roudy - just the right amount of everyone is having a great time.
Diana Wei
Saturday Night Happy Hour until 9pm -- How do you not love perfectly cooked filet mignon for $11?! $5 Wise Man (shot of whiskey & a tecate beer)!!!
Unexpectedly great food and cheap drinks pub. Reminds me of a British pub, since it's nautical theme, feels a bit like you're below the ship deck. Bar area + restaurant booth seating. Variety of age folks here from 20s - 50s eating and drinking here. Chill, not crowded but not dead.
A non-sticky dive bar. Dim lite.
Mary Clare Harrington
Not often is one touched by an idea as brilliant as the wiseman drink special. 5 stars
Bruce Charet
A great neighborhood bar with more than adequate food at extraordinarily reasonable prices~
Mikhail Zinshteyn
One of the last dive bars that doesn't exclusively attract the young and hip but is more about the disheveled, humbled and/or downtrodden. The theme is nautical, the jukebox takes dollars and has some hits, and the menu keeps prices like it's 1999. The drinks are no-frills -- ask for something with more than two ingredients and you may as well be speaking Greek.
Habiba Manjurr
I would give it four stars if there was a second bar tender 5 stars if the 2nd bartender made strong cocktails! The one gal serving up drinks in a fully PACKED Friday night- did her best running from one end of the bar to other. Cocktail drinks were weak. I don't know if that was because of ONE bartender being overwhelmed or it that's their usual way of making drinks. Otherwise, LOVE the décor, vibe, people. Honestly, that one gal bartender did a pretty good job of keeping up with drink orders and tabs by herself! 😊
Benjamin
Cool dive bar atmosphere. The servers were very nice but service was a little disjointed and confusing. Might have just caught them on an off night though
Frank Moreno
Great history, atmosphere and food deals. Love the neighbor vibe. Parking is a pain but worth the effort.
Joshua Espitia
Rueben Sandwich came in with charred looking bread and waitress suggested I send it back but I refused and it turned out delicious. Cole Slaw and mushroom soup were amazing, highly recommend. If you like dimly lit setting with good people all around then I suggest HMS Bounty.
Heather Johnson
I'm very fond of The HMS Bounty. It's a nice, cozy little bar in the Gaylord Building on Wilshire smack in the middle of Koreatown. If you walk in and it seems familiar, it's probably because you've seen it in many films/shows set in an earlier time period. It's the restaurant where Peggy goes out on a date with a truck driver on Mad Men, for example.
Dark and generally quiet, it's also a good choice for a first date or a place where you'd like to actually make conversation along with your drinks.
The drinks are generally strong, and inexpensive, and the food isn't half bad either, although it's really not the main event.
When you need to visit the restroom, you do have to walk through the Gaylord Building's lobby which can be a bit creepy if you've been overindulging in the drinks but otherwise the Bounty is a great place to hang out on a weekday evening.
Joon Cho
Hidden gem and local fav! We welcome all including yups and hips & young/old.
Awesome food by Tony and great staffs including Noy and Annie the bartenders!
I bring all fam and friends new to K-town here.
I start here and sometimes venture but return here on same night numerously.
Special is Wiseman: $5.50 + tax for a can of tecate and choice of house whisky or tequila which I seldomly get.
Return? Only if I can live here. I mean come on, how many bars are out there especially in K-town where the bartenders make you forget your go-to drink since they remember what you like and have it ready before sitting down???
Yes but most hesitantly, I wouldn't want this secret to be known.
Jourdan Ducat
Such a warm and inviting place! The longtime bartender is so friendly and fun. Great prices too. My favorite LA bar!
Dave Beirne
It is absolutely what you see is what you get. This is what a dive is supposed to be. Clean friendly cramped but not packed to the gills. The bartender can be found laughing with the regulars and will pick up your first name within an hour or so, inviting you into the family of veteran regulars.
Noreen Ingasaki
Loved the atmosphere, food and service. Had the clam chowder to start things off,. followed by the filet mignon. It was excellent! Service was quick on a weekend, I can't wait to go again soon.
Alan Tajer
This is an old Restaurant. Kinda like a dive bar. Happy hour gives you a Tecate beer with a shot of Tequila or Whiskey for $6 which is a bargain in LA. There is a restaurant with filet manion for $20, fish & chips for $10. Parking is hard to find but all around is a lot of Koreatown eateries within walking distance. It is a cheap place to start your evening.
John P
Awesome K Town watering hole. Hipsters discovered this spot pre- milennial. Great food for the prices. Solid house pours, no taps just bottled beer which is great for warding off the bougeouis crowd. Try the fried calimari, salmon dinner or the baseball steak or burger set. If you like this apot, great, if you dont, no onw will miss ya. PS - please don't take a picture of your food or you'll get kicked out just kidding
TheGable1
Old time haunt, with that back in the day jazz and crooners vibe (just missing a piano player or the right tunes).
Food? Eh.
Drinks, yeah.
And you can't beat the Wiseman (beer and a shot) at a few bucks. Leave your taste buds at home.
Steve Belgard
I've been going here for over 30 years. Food and atmosphere is great. Ramon the owner is the nicest guy in LA.
Joe Jenckes
What does it mean when you say “solid” about a bar and restaurant? When you go to the Bounty you have a good time. When you go to the Bounty again, you have a good time. You leave feeling better than when you arrived and it wasn’t just the strong pour nor the food value, nor the rando bar conversations. This is the place you end up having a true moment with a buddy or friend or partner..or even (when needed) yourself. Some places just do that; they help you LISTEN. This is one of those. This place is solid and your friendships will be more so because of it.
dan mil
Busy but hip. I liked the crowd there and the drinks are reasonably priced. Very fast service. I will definitely be back next time Im back in the area.
Mindy Kittay
Love the vibe here. Kind of felt like going back in time. The drink was good and strong and not too expensive. Didn't eat so I can't comment on that. More good people watching!
Young Suh
On the scale of LA dive bars with history, you can't beat the Bounty. Have a shot and a beer, try the onions rings, have a baseball steak, enjoy yourself a classic
Fey Cha
Came here on a Thursday night for drinks. Aside from the very limited seating this place is a nice dive bar. I liked the interior design and the stiff drinks.
Kenny Lyon
It's my living room. And it can be yours, too. Where else can you feel so at home when you're not at home?
Drinks are reasonable, atmosphere genial, Tony's cooking unbeatable.
We should all be there right now.
Abe Cinto
Right after boiling crab, this is the place to go. 3 songs for a buck on the jukebox, a few fairly priced drinks and you're good to go. I read people complaining about Wi-Fi and no cell reception, It's a bar...not Starbucks. Onion rings are beyond amazing. Could care less for the staff, I'm there for the booze.
Charles Murphy
A true neighborhood hangout, with cheap beer, good for the soul but not the body food, and friendly people behind the bar as well as on the stool next to you. Not for people looking for a "dining experience," just simple fare and old fashioned hospitality
Justin Wheeler
Not a bad dive bar, good prices even if the drinks are a little small. Don't come eat here, food better elsewhere, but OK spot for a drink and conversation.
Martin Boatman
Cool dive bar w/ a nautical theme which is named after HMS Bounty w/ Captain Bligh which had a crew that was half loyal to him & the other half dedicated to Fletcher Christian who was leader of the mutiny. This bar is next to the Gaylord Apartments so for those denizens it is a mere ride down the elevator, through the side door in the expansive lobby into the confines of the Bounty. How convenient....food & drink just a minute away from your abode.
The interior must date back at least to the 1940's w/ plush "leather' upholstered horseshoe shaped booths as well as more straight backed chairs & tables.
The meat had a bit of gaminess & the nearer you got to the bone, the fatter in taste it became. Good solid portions in a bit of au jus. .
4 Yelp stars for the ambiance & 3 Yelp stars for the food & drinks = 3+ Yelp stars overall.
Daryl K. Jones-Ascension 360 Business Consultants
Great atmosphere, great food. The staff is really friendly and attentive, and the prices are very reasonable. Try the steak and lobster If you're into that sort of thing.
James Chong
Relaxed dive bar in Ktown. Good no frills food for cheap and cheap drinks. Get the shot and beer deal for $5.50 every day from 5:30-9:30pm.
Laura Ellsworth
Great bar - very down to earth, hi homey, local vibe . Haven't tried the food yet but the drinks are a nice pour. Love it.
Christine Pak
So this place has been here forever, my co-office worker raves about this place..I really liked the old school vibe with the booths and all, however, it is dark once you enter. So far everything I've had has been good, nothing to really rave about, but good.
Esteban Hernandez
I am a regular at this spot. This is hands-down my favorite bar in the whole city. The atmosphere is great and the prices on food and drink are awesome!
Jamison Green
Pub style comfort food. Not fancy, good service.
Dave
This is the go-to place in this godforsaken town I call home. One of the few decent watering holes in Koreatown. The food is good and the drinks stiff and fairly priced. What else can you say about a place?
E M
I really enjoy their fish and chips. They also have a beer and a shot special for $5. Parking is difficult to find in this area. You may have to circle the block a few times
Harold Black
Yeah I meet my friends there once in a while have some beers drinks and I like the food if you're in the area mid Wilshire close downtown check it out
William Petersen
Quirky, funny dive bar. Good atmosphere. Bartenders are a bit silly about not making any cocktails they consider "fancy".
Samuel Braff
Ordered a ham sandwich with no mayo. Came slathered in mayo. This was after they came back to my table twenty minutes later to ask what bread I wanted.
Zachary Welch
CLASSIC! A straight up Los Angeles classic. Bukowski used to drink here. It's in Koreatown. You can't go wrong with the Bounty. It's poorly ventilated so it gets hot as hell in there, but who cares. Cheap drinks, heavy pours, nice staff and food as well. Set sail for pleasure.
Jeff Hewitt
Great juke box, cheap food, red leather booths, and the wise man special (essentially a citywide). Look up the historical HMS Bounty's escapades in the Caribbean to get an idea of the vibe.
Giovanni Dubon
Love this bar. Great atmosphere, food & drinks. Staff is the best.
Dania Strong
Fun, comfortable atmosphere, delicious burgers and nice happy hour deals. Great third place to watch a game and relax, or just hang out and enjoy a nice affordable meal.
Sandra Flannery
Lived in Los Angeles my whole life and I have never been here .
Love it. That's all. Old school and the architecture is beyond. You can feel life.
Amy Artis
Me and my fiance came here because boiling crab was to packed we sat in the back it was really dark but cozy the food was not bad I had the special Sea scallop linguini and my fiance had the salmon the sever forgot to bring our chicken wings though but it was okay because we would've been to full not bad I'll go back maybe have a drink next time...
AlfredoMon
This place was pretty cool. Nice small quiet place, the happy hour deal from like 6pm to 9pm was pretty sweet, a can of beer and a shot for $5.50.
Preston Locklear
Dope little dive bar. No frills, nothing fancy. Good cocktails and chill vibe. This place has been in LA forever!!!!!
Mario Rivera
This a great old-timey bar and eatery. Wonderfully great food and drinks. Great food and drink specials. Come by.
Max Delbecq
Small but cozy place that was relaxed and easy-going. Ordered two drinks and the total was $8 bucks - can't beat prices like that. Will go here again.
Amber Chaib
Typical beer selections. Fair selection and quality of food. Good service. Adjacent to Gaylord Apts. It looks like an old 70's spot on the inside.
J. W. Rozelle
Nice place to meet and chat. Dark, with quiet music. Food and drinks are very affordable
Rob Robinson
Dark naugahyde booths, cozy, good bar. Menu includes "baseball cut sirloin". If you don't know what that is, go to Olive Garden or Mc Donalds.
ledgm108
First time visiting, had French fries and a plain quesadilla for appetizers, good flavor
Courtney Hamilton
Great place for cocktails, and the jukebox rules. Say hi to Luba the waitress, she's the best! I hope this place never changes.
Chris

The $14.99 New York Petite Steak is my favorite thing from this place. It comes with veggies and mashed potatoes, so it's a great deal.
Manuel Colón
Very low-key restaurant with super reasonable prices for a great steak dinner or other hearty "American" dishes. Also, seems like a fun local watering hole.
Leo Montero

Neighborhood bar that has passed the test of time. Familiar faces, same bartender all the time...definitely "Cheers" vibes over at the Bounty. Truly a gem of K-town.
Patricia Flores
Great food and very accommodating with your food order. The owner and his son both help serve the tables and they aim to please their patrons.
Christian Molson

An honest gem. I miss coming here for a Bud and chicken wings. A very special place with lots of character that I hope stays open forever.
Kay Jay (케이제이)
I'm not sure why this place is popular.
The drinks I thought were a little overpriced and the food just mediocre.
I guess it's the atmosphere.
Izik Roitman
Old school nautical theme dive bar, cheep drinks low music, it’s a good spot to meat a friend and actually be able to have a conversation.

NERDOPOLITAN
Great prices on food and drinks. Nice place to talk and relax. Ask for the Wise Man Special at least once.
Jarred Brewster
A quintessential LA experience. This bar has never disappointed
Juan Orozco
The bartenders are rushed and quick to make their drinks which leads to poor quality of drinks.
Angie Godoy
The food never disappoints. Everything is delicious, especially the salmon. You get good portions and for a reasonable price.
Mark Stokes
Suprisingly welcoming and fun. Had a great time! Nice bartender.
Danny Le
This place is Mad Decent! Very old school decor. Prices and food quality are hard to beat.
Dann
Wacky place. Very dark. Reasonable selection of beers both smaller brewers and big names. Cool jukebox.
Photo Larry
Very high end and expensive but it’s a great place for steaks and other meat options. It is not for vegetarians at all. Just not the right place for it. It is good food.
R. Keith
Went there to shoot a commercial and was pleasantly surprised... Once you walk in, ito looks like a dive bar but if you go further in its really a nice restaurant...
Matt Plummer
Loud, small portions (food and drinks). The staff were really fantastic.
