Waited an hour for Bill's Burgers 🍔 and folks, they were well worth the wait. Absolutely deeeeelish. That griddle has cooked millions of burgers on it, so it's seasoned like no other. Bill is in his mid-80's, so he's not going to be around for ever.... go see him while u can.

Bill has been cooking up the BEST burgers in the Valley since 1965. (Which could help explain the 40 minute wait and the full grill). The stand is located right next to a high end recording studio which I'm sure helps keep him in business. He's in his 90s and still comes in every day. He said he's getting tired, so if you want to visit this iconic burger stand, and taste the best homemade burgers ever, make it soon.

It may not the prettiest in L.A., but it’s one of the tastiest thanks to the caramelizing effect of the patina on a 50+ year old burger griddle and the magic touch of 96 year Bill Elwell who’s been manning the helm of his eponymous stand since I was knee-high to a pickle barrel. He only makes 6 at a time so you gotta beat the lunch crowd if you don’t want to wait 45 minutes to eat. However, waiting just makes you hungrier as the savory flavors of grilled meat and onions wafts out from the pick-up window. It reminds me of burger shacks at the Jersey shore in summer.

Bill's is an institution in The Valley. Burgers are really good and the vibe is always there. I like to add on items and make it massive. You should too. We used to Use cash to make it easier but they may take cards too. The hours are also a bit wacky- it seems they're open closer to breakfast than dinner but that's okay. Parking is easy too.

Tiny, old school joint with burgers grilled by the tiny, old school fella who's owned the joint 50 years. Simple burgers, simple food, cooked perfectly. You will wait: 30-40 minutes for a burger if the line is short, but it will be exactly right.

This iconic hamburger joint is run by a 93yo gentleman named Bill, the oldest hamburger slinger in America. Got the double bacon cheeseburger, chips and a coke for $9, $1 tip to the guy taking the order having to deal with a maskless Karen. The burger is superb in a classic sense and an ingredient they use somehow reminded me of something I've had at elementary school cafeteria in California in the best possible way! I am sure to be back!

After living in the same area for more than 10 years, i finally got to try Bill's burgers. I regret not coming around sooner. The Double Cheeseburger was on point, cheesy and soo much flavor. PATIENCE IS REQUIRED, as the wait time can get up there (10-15mins) for me, but you can't rush perfection or Bill, at 92 years old, still flipping some of the best burgers in town.

With the first bite, I knew this was a terrific burger. The spices, the char, the cheese, all fit together perfectly. It's a fine value at $5.30 for a double cheeseburger. Next time I'm calling in my order because of the half hour wait. I judge fast food by quality of the food for the price, and Bill's beats my long time title holder of In 'N' Out.

You need to try this. Bill has been at it for decades and this 94yo mans never lost a step! Been going here often but just recently saw a for sale sign and I want to eat here every day now 😩 Definitely recommend. He's straight to it. No fries, just a burger, and a damn good one. I love the classic feel of this place. A tiny little shack located on Oxnard with really good classic America burgers. No BS, just chips cheeseburger and a coke. it's like a match made in heaven. there is parking on the street or behind the building. I wish it was opened a bit later but other than that it is a perfect spot for lunch. Bill and his wife are amazingly sweet and just a local business you want to support.

The burger is good, however they only serve burgers (no fries, no drinks) so I expected something a little more unique than a plain cheese burger. I understand that there is only about 3 employees working at one time and there is a high demand for these burgers, so that could explain the extremely small menu. Despite the variability in what they serve, you won’t be disappointed with the taste of the burgers. They are simple, fresh, and tasty, and if that’s all you need then you must try it.

This place is the only fast food place I will eat at. It’s under new management now. Nick who runs Nicks Food Rendezvous in town is running it and the burgers are flipping delicious! Not greasy, just a good-sized patty and real ingredients. I’m not a fast food gal but Bills burgers really hits the spot when I’m in a hurry and just have to bite the bullet and eat on the go! Thanks Nick, and the sweet gal who works the cashier and serves drinks. She is always super friendly and sweet! Will be back again!

Small burger joint but still good. No fries are served here, but they are substituted with chips. The food does take some time to be made as it is being cooked on a small burner. The chilli wasn't all that as it was dry and tastes more like refried beans.

I was lucky enough to have my burgers prepared by the owner of this wonderful establishment...you guessed it, BILL! Upon walking up to the shack, EVERYTHING pulls you in; the wonderful smells of meat on the flat top grill, the array of customers dining and enjoying the same experience as yourself, or even the fact that you quickly begin to notice that fries are NOT ON THE MENU, only potato chips HA HA! But trust & believe, when I tell you that does NOT take away from the awesomeness of the burgers, IT DOES NOT. THE BURGERS HERE ARE 🔥 There are also no fountain drinks, only canned & bottled beverages...again does NOT take away from the AWESOME BURGERS!

I cannot express how much it means when a business is SOLID on the time they close. They close at 4pm, I left at 3:55pm and they were still making burgers. The burger was delicious. I try not to eat much red meat but this place is really good. I recommend the double cheese burger. Also the people are nice. I saw Bill. Very affordable prices.

Everything you heard about this place is true! It's a tiny outdoor place with roughly 10 seats at the bar. You see Bill cooking up burgers after burgers while someone takes orders and his ex-wife builds the burgers. I was skeptical about this place when I walked up. But there were so many people ordering after me...And there is a wait to get your burger since it's made to order. I waited around 15 min, got my single cheeseburger and tasted it. It's true! It's absolutely delicious and my only regret is that I didn't order a double. And the wait was worth it! I'm still thinking about that burger and can't wait to go back!

Found this place on a recommendation online for one of the best burgers under $5 in LA. I went around 12:30, so the wait was pretty long, around 30 mins. Next time I would try going either earlier or later for a shorter wait time, but there is only one person cooking the food. Overall tasty food and cheap.

Bill's is an authentic and iconic Burger stand. No frills, no extras. Open for breakfast and lunch. Last of the classics. If you love the old traditional burger-shop, you HAVE to visit Bill's and pay homage to him and Hiroko, his loyal Sous- Chef extraordinaire! I always have his burgers, but there are butter-flied grilled hot dogs, like Mom used to make, and even a pastrami sandwich. Be ready for a 30+min wait at lunch time... its really that good! (And did I mention cheap prices too?!)

Bill is the man ! If anyone complains about working take them to Bills and have them watch 94 year old bill on the grill . They should take all complainers and lazy folk to meet bill . They man is amazing u won’t believe it. The guy is a inspiration for old timers when we all get there . Don’t give up and show to work and take in Life as average as it maybe be or not . These burgers are amazing. The grill that bill uses is vintage from what seems like the 50's. I don't know if it changes the flavor but these burgers are great. The only con I'd have to say is that they only accept cash. It might be beneficial to know that they also don't have fries but do have chips.

Best burger stand in LA when it comes to flavor. Priced a smidgen high for the portion. a double cheese burger is about 20% smaller then a In an Out Double Double and 20% more in cost but flavor is 80% better. if you have a big appetite your going to have to order a couple things to be satisfied. Also they don't have fries , they have chips. Still get 4 1/2 Stars because of its amazing flavor just get a couple of things if you what to leave full.

Cool little shack with an old school griddle that puts out some seriously tasty burgers. Amazing burgers. One of the best I've ever had. This place is no-frills, with a small menu - they don't even have fries, but you won't miss them. Instead of fries you get chips. Check out the old time cash register that they still actually use. It's pretty awesome. Remember, it's a small place so you should probably get here early in order to avoid the rush.

After seeing so many amazing reviews and then reading 1 bad one i decided I had to see who was right for myself. This place is great on many different levels. It's a tiny open air shack on the side of the road that only accepts cash and its run by an older gentleman (bill), his lovely wife, and one other person. Their prices are very cheap, i got a delicous double cheese with a fried egg, and i was in and out in about 20 minutes. The burger wasnt the biggest ive ever had but for half the price of every other burger in town and as delicious as it was, I will never personally complain. This is a great place for a few friends to grab a bite, but they are not set up for large parties so just be sure to bring your patients if you happen to go during a rush. Worth the wait in my opinion though. Definitely coming back and bringing friends!

Went here twice. Their burgers have a very old school classic feel to it. Kind of reminds me of an inn-n-out burger. I had the double hamburgers both times, once with bacon. The patty has a nice salt and pepper seasoning. It's reasonably priced at $5. I would definitely go again if I am in the area. Very nice people, family owned, low priced. Not great burgers. Tastes somewhere in-between In-n-Out and Carl's Jr. Small burgers. No fries available!! Definitely overrated - people saying "Best Burgers", not sure why. The meat is thin and fairly unseasoned, very basic - the patties come from a frozen package. It does take awhile for them to cook up the burgers when there are other people. I give it 3 stars for the effort and the prices.

I'm torn with this review, Bill has really good burgers (most of the time) & hot dogs, but I was there the other day (May 1st) during the pandemic & none of the employees were wearing mask or gloves. None, that's a real concern & a real turn off. Not sure if I'll be back.

I don't understand what the big deal is with everyone claiming it is the best burger under the sun. The burger I got was ok a bit on the greasy side. They have no French fries. I really wanted to like it as much as everyone else, but I got disappointed. Maybe my expectations were too big based on the other reviews.

I’m curious what all of these two stars ratings thought they were walking in to? I am pretty confident Bills is one of those “you get what you get cross-posted restaurants” online. I had Such an unassuming and pleasant experience. You can tell the three people working take a lot of pride in what they’re doing and Bill actually asked if we enjoyed everything before we left. It’s not glamorous but that’s not what they’re trying to do. They make good burgers on a flat top , keep the prices low, and it don’t indulge in the over the top or fancy décor. It reminded me of something my parents might have stopped at when they were growing up. Pretty remarkable for the valley to have something like this little gem.

You can have hamburgers or hot dogs. No French fries but they do have 1 flavor of salted chips. The burger was skinny and small. If you are of normal size portions and your hungry. Get the double or go for two of them. I ate two and I am 155 pounds and don't eat big meals. They didn't have anymore hotdogs on the day I went. So you get what they have and it's not much of choice other than a burger 😊 The burger reminds me of Bob's Big Boy or a good food truck. They did have bottled water and soda's. Catching up with some reviews. Recently moved out of Cali, but can't forget to give Bill 5 stars for his burgers. You know they are good when your still thinking about them after moving lol My favorite is a Pastrami Burger with cheese, Everything on it! I practicaly cry when I forget to get a double Lol Get a double! You won't regret. Make sure you speak your order clear, quick and loud, and don't expect to be picky either, it's not that kind of place haha

This place proves you don't need ketchup or secret sauce to make a tasty burger. "Everything" here is mayo, pickles, raw chopped onion, tomato and shredded lettuce. That's all Bill says the burger needs and damnit if he ain't right. Textbook definition of a hole in the wall, no frills (no fries!) but that's okay because the burgers are near perfection and the prices are low.

An excellent burger. There’s a reason Bill’s is on all of the top burgers in LA lists. It does take a while to get served because everything is made to order, but it’s worth it.
