Pretty good Mexican restaurant. The tacos are really good. The queso is pretty good also. Carintas are solid! I recommend getting tacos though. It's about $2 per taco so that's pretty cheap. Oh also the atmosphere is pretty awesome! All the chairs are like custom made and really pretty.

Taco arriero and pastor with beans and rice. The tacos were absolutely delicious! The meats were full of flavors. The refried beans were just okay, probably wouldn’t get them again. The rice was pretty decent. The tacos were definitely the highlight of the lunch. Their cheese dip was pretty good. Their salsa is not chilled, just a heads up. It’s served warm and has a light kick to it. Very delicious!

A friend told me about this place so I checked them out this evening. I had the Bistek a la Mexicana, which is just strips of steak sauteed with onions, peppers, tomatoes and jalapeños (I asked to delete those cuz I don't do the spicy). It comes with rice, beans, tortillas and some non-dressed salad. It was ok but honestly I've had similar dishes at other places that tasted a bit better. I also got a small portion of guac and that was good. The chips came out warm and their salsa is decent and has a different look to it (a bit lighter in color) but has some zing to it as well. My complaints are that they only have bottled sodas, they charge 3% extra for card payments (which, in fairness, is posted on the door), and the customer service is a bit slow. I had to go easy on my water cuz I could tell no refills were coming. Just the food, the removal of a plate and then the check. It's an ok place but I have a few other Mexican restaurans that I prefer.

The tacos are amazing, prices are amazing! Service is good! Way better than your average tex mex. I do dislike that soft drinks come in bottles so no free refills but that’s really the only negative. Best get there early, cause they get busy quickly!

Just goes to show that you can find amazing food if you venture away from the mall/ suburbs. This place is about as authentic as you can get. I wanted to try everything on the menu. Ended up with a Gordita (pastor) and a few tacos. Carne asada, special taco (chicken with sour cream and cheese, carnitas. But the best was the Arriero, which is the carne, with chorizo and grilled onions. I had to order one another one of those. The salsa they serve with the chips is a little tame. But the red sauce that it brought out with the tacos was hottttttt! Amazing flavors.

In my opinion this is the best Mexican restaurant in Little Rock. The food is consistently good. The Asada is SOOOOOO TASTY! The Asada quesadillas are on of my favorite dishes. The salsa is probably different than you might’ve had before but it’s still good. On top of all this it is affordable and the service is great. Definitely give this place a shot.

Cecilia did a good job taking care of our table. The restaurant was so busy on a Sunday lunch. The wait for our food was longer than normal. There was even another waitress helping her cover our table. The white cheese dip was excellent. Tacos were excellent. My Chicken Chimichanga and portions of refried beans and rice keep getting smaller and smaller each time I come in. I always forget to take a picture.

Fun atmosphere, pretty good food, very good service. Went for dinner on a Friday, was busy but not too crowded. They have some medium sized TVs if you're interested in watching sports while you eat. They serve warm tortilla chips and salsa that are good. We tried the tacos de alambre a torta, and aqua frescas, all good. For the price it's very good, will come back.

absolutely phenomenal!!! wish i lived closer! was in town visiting and friends recommended this gem. everything was so fresh. the warm salsa was amazing! so was the chorizo cheese dip and guacamole. everyone's meals looked so fresh and good portions. the burrito, taco, and sopes were very good. cannot wait to go back, thanks everyone!

This place was packed. Literally no where to sit and barely room to stand so I ordered my food to go. I was born and raised on the West Coast and this reminds me of the Mexican food I am use to. I love Santo Coyote but Taqueria El Palenque is in a league of its own. I will call in my order for now on. This is my new go to food spot.

Local. Yummy. Small The atmosphere is fun and fast. They have great tacos, questions, and a warm salsa. The warm salsa is something you have to get used to but it is delicious. This is a small joint with only 2 handfuls of tables so come early or be prepared to wait a little bit. Order ahead and take to go would be ideal if you are in a time crunch. This little place is easy to miss while driving so make sure you pull into the Treasure Hills Center off Rodney Parham Road.

One of the best Tex-Mex restaurants I've ever been to. Friendly staff. I had the enchilada rojas, my wife had a chicken soft taco. Both were well prepared and delicious. Everything had flavor nothing out of a can. The salsa was warm and delicious.The only thing I have negative to say and it's really not a negative is that they do not have sweet tea. Will definitely go back whenever we're in Little Rock.

Easily the best Mexican food in Central Arkansas. The Bistek Ranchero is the best thing on the menu. I promise. Ceviche Tostada is a also a must. Shrimp Diablo is great. The street tacos are all great, especially the mixed meat specialty Arreiro taco.

First of all the menu was dirty....I hate that!! The salsa was runny, watery and tasted week... the tacos were AMAzING....the beef had a wonderful flavor and texture..highly recommend them....all fresh ingredients...the enchiladas were disappointing. They dont serve Iced tea...very strange for any restaurant in the south. We probably wont be back....but the tacos were really good

Skip all the other Mexican restaurants and come here. It’s the definition of hidden gem. It’s a Hole in the wall restaurant with the best Mexican food I’ve tried in the city. Great prices. Best street tacos too. It’s always busy but they get you in and out pretty quickly.

Great food, but honestly only a few of the employees are actually kind. The customer service is pretty bad. The younger workers were having no trouble laughing behind the counter, but the moment they see a customer they roll their eyes and act like they don’t want to be there. Our waitress could have just been having a bad day though. I’m not sure. Just look out for that!

Salsa wasn't the typical salsa. It was warm and watery. Tasted like veggie soup to me. I didn't like it but my girlfriend loved it. I got the tacos, several different types, and they were all wonderfully flavorful. The salsas that came with the tacos were also terrific. The red sauce tastes great but it has some fire to it. Great upbeat music and a good time. Be aware, no mixed drinks but they do have beer. Would happily return.

Traveling home and passing through Little Rock we were looking for a local place to eat that had good Mexican food. Found this little out-of-the-way unassuming place with other good reviews and decided to give it a shot. Tight quarters and not a lot of seating but we were able to be seated without too long of a wait. The salsa was fresh and flavorful, homemade corn and flour tortillas were the best. With so many Mexican food restaurants out there, this place stands out and is worth a visit.

Best damn tacos I've had in 15 years. I ordered the tacos I've seen pictures of on here with the avacado slices and they were great. I also really liked their salsa. Fair warning, it's pretty spicy but it isn't the same run-of-the-mill salsa you get at most places. The service was a bit slow on a Friday evening but it was because they were busy, not neglectful. The food more than made up for it. The atmosphere feels authentic and isn't just another bland Mexican food joint. It's small so it was pretty packed but we didn't have a problem getting a table. I went last night and will probably be going back for lunch today.

I have eaten at this place multiple times and the food is very good. Authentic Mexican taste and the tacos are so good. I recently took a vacation to a couple of Mexican cities and the taste was exactly the same. I love the tacos and cheese dip. Fajitas are also very good. Prices are good and food is great. We went there to get tacos. I can say this is the best tacos I have had in Little Rock. This place may be tucked to the corner of the shopping center but it is worth checking out. The menu is authentic this salsa was different than any salsa I have tasted. They also had truly hot sauces to add to your food. The wait staff was attentive and our food arrived quickly.

I loved the supreme taco was hard for my prescaterian husband to choose his entre as every thing is mainly meat based. You have to ask for special spicy sauce as food served to us weren't that spicy. The ambient was cozy and warm. Loved their art works all around the place. Best thing attracted me in this pandemic as the chef, waitress, hosts all were in good mood, laughing, singing to the song playing on the stereo. Made our evening joyful.

I've only visited once but was extremely pleased with the quality of the food and service. The restaurant is quite small and seemingly always busy, but the 10-minute wait for a table was well worth it. The Nachos Supreme I ordered came without beans as I requested and we're piled high with chicken, green peppers, onions, jalapeños, cilantro and cheese sauce for a delicious and filling combination. My lunch companion had an enchilada platter he said was scrumptious as well. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. I look forward to my next visit.

This is the most authentic Mexican restaurant that I've been to in Little Rock. If you're looking for real Mexican food an unique dishes, then this is your place. They also server alcohol. You can order a 32oz Corona Familiar. Everything is reasonable price and service has always been fast. I've found myself eating lunch and dinner here in the same day. If you want real deal good Mexican food, go to El Palenque. I typically order 2-3 tacos and a order of rice with cheese dip on top. Can't go wrong with that for a nice lunch

Don't be fooled by this hole in the wall, The food here is amazing. My husband and I could never frequent this restaurant as much as we would have liked to because it was always too crowded , but they recently expanded! We were thrilled!! Prices are very reasonable as well. Best nachos in town! Highly recommend.

Great food, but it was crowded and took forever to get a table. While I waited, no one said a word to us. Even when tables cleared, we just sat down since they didn't seat us. The salsa is a hot (temperature) salsa, which I often like, but this was not my favorite flavor. But the tacos are authentic and delicious which makes up some ground.

Service and food is top notch. This food is much more authentic than most Mexican restaurants. Coke comes in a classic glass bottle and they bring and red and green salsa in a squeeze bottle to your table. The salsa with the chips is warm and soooo amazing. Our kids love at the food is great the atmosphere is awesome my server she's been my server for 5 years and she is great she already knows what we want don't have to wait too long for your food seating is limited so you have to get there with sufficient amount of time but it's well worth the time the food is so authentic. Easily the best tacos in Little Rock, if not the state. Excellent homemade tortillas will have you salivating, regardless of whether you prefer corn or flour. The lengua (beef tongue) tacos are incredibly tender and flavorful, as are all of the other meats. The warm salsa is delicious and different than anything you’ve ever had. Oh, and their GUACAMOLE! It’s a dream. You haven’t had authentic Mexican food until you’ve come here. Absolutely superb.

Being from southern California it a blessing to find a neighborhood Mexican restaurant very authentic. Being Hispanic myself and I Give It 2 Thumbs Up both my husband and I are thrilled. We enjoy the food the atmosphere is awesome service is awesome and yeah the sauce is a little runny but it's different everybody makes things different but this is a great spot if you're in the mood for done serious real Mexican food. Im always recommending this spot to Everyone in need of some real food!!!!!

We liked our food and the price. We were lucky to get a seat! The service was quick but not as friendly as some places we've been. Friendly suggestion: set up more tables for 2 so that there isn't as long of wait. We were sitting at a table for 4 as we noticed many people were. Bottom line, we will go back!

Food; one of the best maxican food in town, all stars for food. But, Service needs a lot of improvements. My personal experience almost all the time my drink order was messed up. Few times even my food order was messed. But, even if I got the wrong order; still liked what I got instead😜. Often this place is busy and we have to wait a lot unattended. Had the whole fried fish (tilapia) and it was very good. They are expanding to be able to acomadate more people which is always a good sign. They have a great set of furniture which is relieve carved with scenes of villages and such which are really great. Good food (authentic) and a cool place.

I like the tacos. Make sure you ask for the tortillas warm or they will give you cold tortillas. Authentic food? Yes. Atmosphere? Yes, I felt like I was in Huntington park California. Reasonably priced. Would visit again. Parking and seating are a pain.

If you’re into authentic taco and not Tex-mex this place is great!!! The horchata is a must and the barbacoa tacos are the absolute best (if they don’t run out). Side note: The place is a bit small but it gives it a more homely feel. *Beware of the salsa because it’s normally mildly hot.

Our server couldn't have been sweeter and more patient. Tonight was ROCKIN' with business and the two servers never let up with sweetness and courteousness. The pork was delicious and tender. We'll definitely go back--hope by then there will be a freshly made margarita to round it off (beer only, now).

Second time there and loved it as much then as the first. They have the best Carne Asada I have had since living in Guadalajara. Tender, juicy and tasty! What is also nice, they don't heap on the rice and beans as a replacement for the meat - enough, but they do pile on the meat.

Palenque has choices of authentic Mexican cuisine, the place inside feels like a travel to a Mexican place, it's busy and could be a bit loud but so is life. You know is good food when Hispanics choose this place to enjoy a bit of home. The fajitas are great and can enjoy a "Michelada" before you get your meal.

This is the best and most authentic Mexican food in town. Not exactly the kind of place to try if your go to is a numbered combo from a tex-mex place. Cozy interior with carved booths and chairs. No liquor, but plenty of beers and other Mexican beverages (coke, etc.) Not a lot of room so I wouldn't recommend parties larger than four.

Just had the best Carnitas taco in Little Rock! Place was packed, had to wait for table, but it was worth it. Salsa was spicy and flavorful. Their red salsa in the bottle was smoky, garlicky, with the right hit of heat...went great with the carne asada taco. Their green salsa in a bottle was fresh, tangy, with no heat and paired well with the Carnitas taco. No complaints from me on the food being served here. Would definitely go back!

Ideallic hole-in-the-wall spot. Parking is cramped and there aren't always enough tables during busy hours (or enough servers) but the food, the price and the overall experience more than make up it. My wife and I love the soft tacos. The salsa is so-so but the guacamole and queso are on point. Feels like an authentic experience.

This place is a hidden gem! I was recently looking for some good, authentic mexican food and I am so glad I found Taqueria El Palenque. The queso is perfect- not too thick, not overly seasoned the way many other local restaurants serve it. The cheese they use in their quesadillas has remarkable flavor. And my favorite thing to order is the steak tacos. They are simple, (steak, onion and cilantro on soft corn tortillas) but bursting with flavor. I definitely recommend visiting.

It's simple but FLAVORFUL Mexican food. Haven't asked what region of Mexico they represent. Never been disappointed. Salsa is different than most Americans expect. Thinner and more chunky. Not cold. This is one of the best little taquerias in Central AR. Very authentic. From the customizable tacos to (my favorite) the torta milenesa (breaded steak sandwich), everything is mas authentico. Be prepared for a wait - most times the line leads out the door in this tiny hole in the wall. Lovely staff. Try take-out with little waiting. Enjoy!

We've been going to El Palenque since shortly after it opened a few years ago. It is simply the best Mexican cuisine available in Little Rock, with a great staff, a wide range of offerings, and very affordable. The spinach quesadilla, bistek ranchero, and mojarra frita are particular favorites, but be adventurous and try it all (one visit at a time)! Proprietor David Martinez has been running a great place on all fronts, and El Palenque recently expanded due to demand--always a good sign (for those seeking reassurance). ¡Me gusta!
