We came to Vida to celebrate our anniversary; the reservation times available were 9:00 and later, so we almost opted out, but I am so glad we didn’t. It was one of the absolute best dining experiences of our lives. From amuse bouché to dessert, each course kept getting more and more delicious, and our cocktails were amazing. Our server, Thomas, was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, guided us expertly and his excitement about the food he was serving elevated our own. He made it feel like we were dining with a friend. We already can’t wait to come back!

Went to Vida for our anniversary dinner. This is the second time we have eaten here. The food is amazing. It is definitely a place everyone should experience. You will definitely go back again. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Great atmosphere. Had a wonderful time.

The food as always, was beyond amazing. We come each season and try the new masterpiece works of food art. Tonight our server was Thomas and he went beyond previous visits. I am very happy to have had Thomas and really enjoyed this well preformed service. Thomas provided the perfect balance of check in to see what we might need with our happiness in food choice, without being excessive or over bearing. I hope we can have the pleasure of his service on our next visit.

We went to Vida's to celebrate two birthdays and had a wonderful time. The chef was thoughtful and executed every course beautifuly. All of the minute details makes a huge difference in his meals. Our server Mandy was very knowledgeable and was very sweet. The manager even came by and spoke with us and showed us a picture of his daughter. We had the six course meal, with wine, cocktails, and an extra dessert. Make sure you have 3 plus hours to dine, they do not rush through your dining experience.

Incredible! Here we go again on a journey of new experiences. Tonight was Vida. It started of with the maitre d coming and welcoming us to Vida. Then the waiter was exceptionally knowledgeable about the different course ingredients and phenomenal knowledge about all the different types of drinks. I truly was impressed with his knowledge. We were seated at the front corner table which gave us an unobstructed view. The courses come either in one at a time in a set of four or a set of six. We chose four. After having left and sitting at home giving this review I can honestly say I'm fully sated. It is not overly pricy but it does have some expense. All alcohol is top shelf. One bottle was $2500. About $175 per shot. So be wary of ordering before knowing your prices. The courses all had a taste of excellence. A hint of this and a hint of that. I do recommend sometime stopping in and giving Vida a go. FYI, you may need a reservation.

The food here is delicious. Reservations are definitely recommended. It is a very busy place. Most restaurants just have 1-2 vegetarian dishes, so I was pleasantly surprised that they had an entire vegetarian tasting menu. That is so rare to find. The 6 course tasting takes about a couple hours and the dishes are very inventive. The service is pretty good as well. The experience could be so much better if there was a vegetarian protein source and the portion sizes were larger to better match the price of the tasting menu. You could alternatively include the wines in the base price to elevate the experience. Overall a good place to go for a special occasion. EDIT: Updating to 5 Stars. We visited the restaurant again after a year and loved the fact that Vida incorporated all my suggestions. The dishes did not repeat any vegetables, they included a vegan protein source in Tofu and the portion sizes were also larger. 100% recommended for a special occasion especially for Vegetarians.

Probably the best meal and experience I’ve ever had in Indianapolis. The presentation was gorgeous, the variety of flavors were unique and tasty, and the staff very attentive and lovely. They made my 40th birthday celebration very memorable.

The place is super cozy. You immediately feel you are going to have a good time when you walk through the door. Food is very refined with dishes you don't get everyday (fois Gras, duck,etc...) and you get great advice when choosing the wine that would match best with your food. Enjoyed our dinner here when I was visiting Indy for the first time (so this is an overdue post), really liked their “green wall” of salad greens, enjoyed their pork belly dish, mushroom dish, and the scallops. Flavors were good but nothing really particularly stood out. Still it was a lovely experience overall.

Went here for a special occasion. It's in a pretty busy street, the plus side is they do have a valet. Atmosphere is very cozy and hosts are super nice. Our server was attentive and we never had to wait on anything. The food is pretty damn good and at the end of the meal I felt satisfied. It's hard to describe each dish after the fact but I will say as the meal progressed the food got tastier leaving me excited to see what's next. Overall, it's a great location if you want to splurge for a date time.

Worth a trip. Tasting menus available in 4 or 6 courses with wine pairings as well. Service is great and many of the courses are excellent. Try the pork belly and the scallops. If you like Thomas Keller's fried chicken the buttermilk chicken here is very similar.

One of the top restaurants in Indy, without a doubt. Unbelievably delicious, with an unparalleled attention to detail. They are incredibly accommodating to those with allergies, and never made our party feel like an inconvenience for the alterations that needed to be made to the dishes. Could not recommend more.

This is very much upscale dining and it lives to that expectation. The presentation of the food is so great and it is tasty on the savory side. All the plates are crafted to the perfection. They have good selection of wines and great cocktails. Amazing experience.

Chef Melvin put on what I can only describe as a culinary master class, of what it truly means to put one's heart and soul on to a plate. My wife and I went to celebrate our anniversary, with high hopes and expectations, to end up being blown away with every thoughtfully prepared morsel the chef's tasting menu had to offer. We chose Vida for an experience. We left inspired, touched, grateful, and full of wonderful memories that will last us for our lifetime.

We decided to try this place out and we are so happy we did! We didn’t have a reservation so we had to sit at the bar top, so I would recommend making a reservation. However, the bar top was great! Our bartender was very nice and knowledgeable about all the wine we had. We did the chef’s tasting with the reserve wine pairing. Which I highly recommend trying! Every single course was nicely presented/plated and every bite was delicious! Our entire dinner experience was amazing! I will say this is an expensive place, but you definitely get what you pay for! Well worth the money.

One of the best restaurants in the city. The portions and wine tasting menu are the best you will find. The servers honestly feel like you’re in NYC making sure you meet any obligations for your evening, when you don’t have any. The food is the best you’ll find. Wine and alcohol pairings tastefully curated. And the generosity still has a small town feel. Would recommend to anyone.

This was our second time being at Vida and it was already dubbed our favorite restaurant, but a year later it was even better! We did the six course tasting menu and the quality of food and flavor combinations were absolutely exquisite. The staff is absolutely fantastic as well (shout out to Frankie!). If I could give 10 stars I would!!! From all 4 courses to everything in between, everything was beyond expectations. To say our meal was delicious is an understatement. The service…man, where to begin?! I’ve never experienced a dining service that spectacular! Very friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, courteous, quick, professional and so on! Atmosphere was amazing! Clean! Cozy! Modern! Felt a little out of place however the servers didn’t make you feel that way what so ever! Again 10 out of 5 stars! WORTH the price and DEFINITELY worth the experience!!!! 💯

I took my niece here as a treat during the Devour Indy festival. The restaurant and service was amazing. The staff were incredibly helpful and attentive. I took the waiters recommendation for the scallops and they were the best I've ever tasted. They even had several nonalcoholic cocktails on the menu which I always appreciate. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I'll be back!

My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary. Katherine took great care of us as we enjoyed the tasting menu. The plates were beautiful and delicious. The first and last courses blew our minds with flavors we hadn’t experienced before. Great way to bookend a meal and everything in between was amazing too.

Wonderful experience! Went for anniversary dinner for something different. Passionate staff, beautiful presentations and overall atmosphere. My husband was worried he wouldn’t get full off tiny courses but after 4 we both were stuffed. Everything was delicious and can’t say enough about the ricotta donuts! My wife and I have come here for our last two anniversary dinners and we have loved the experience each time. We each had the four course option which is the perfect amount of food. Every aspect of each course was carefully-crafted including the temperatures, textures, flavor combinations, seasoning, presentation and timing. We look forward to our next visit.

The overall experience at Vida is excellent. We did the 6 course tasting with the wine pairing option. Every dish was prepared in a way that made every flavor pop in our mouths and the wine added to the flavorful experience. The staff is very informative, friendly and prompt. You can even dictate the pace of the courses. Don't be fooled by the serving sizes; there will be plenty of food by the end of the tasting. For us it is expensive, but worth the cost if you can do it.

I think of this place as the Cunningham Restaurant Group's crown jewel (whether they intended it that way or not) and it remains one of the better eating destinations in Indy (and one of the only tasting-menu-focused ones). Well executed modern New American with a regularly evolving menu. While it's otherwise impossible to pick favorites, the hot ricotta doughnuts have a permanent home on the menu for good reason - do not miss them under any circumstances.

Wife and I made a reservation for our 2nd Anniversary. Forgot have far in advance we booked but it was at least 2 months. Well worth it! We did the six course tasting menus with the wine pairings (not the reserve wines). Our server was incredibly knowledgeable and accommodated my wife's tastes (she doesn't like red wine so our server consulted the sommelier for the best pairings). The brutal heart cocktail was amazing as well. Each course was amazing and the wines were paired perfectly. They even gave us two glasses of champagne to toast our anniversary. They pulled out all the stops. Great place to go for any special occasion!

Very nice restaurant with delicious food. It is fine dining so it may be slightly more expensive than some regular restaurants around, but it is definitely worth it. Chef's menu is amazing and the service is professional and friendly.

In my opinion, Vida is consistently the best restaurant in Indianapolis. We always go big: we save up, we go all out. I like that there is always bar seating if you forgot to make a reservation. One of my favorite dishes is actually the carrot. We always request the donuts for dessert even if they are not on the menu.

A big shout out to the amazing chef @ Vida , Thomas Melvin. Thank you so much to come up with a vegetarian 6 course tasting menu and each dish was a beautiful experience. If I had to choose one, which is very difficult , Honeycrisp Apple is really refreshing. Roasted Maitake is so satisfying. And the Ricotta Doughnuts, I have been struggling to have doughnuts the way I like which is not super sweet but melt in mouth for 2 years and finally I had one last night. This is definitely one of the top places to dine in Indiana for me. Staff is really friendly & responsive. The restaurant has a great vibe and decor. The only feedback I might give is if some more variety in vegetables can be brought in, as broccoli was repeated twice, mushroom too and a vegetarian protein option will just make the meal complete. Having said that it doesn’t make the existing menu any less delicious. A definite come back place.

My son has been working at Vida for several months. He has been wanting us to come check it out. We tried a few months back for our Anniversary but it was booked. So we decided to try again for belated Anniversary/ Christmas dinner. Best dinning experience ever. With that said I can't pick a favorite, because the food was absolutely delicious! The spice cured Tuna, , Duck Breast. Black Angus Ribeye, Wall salad and more. I had heard so much about the Ricotta Doughnuts , they are a must. The other desserts were fabulous too. Our Servicer, Frankie was top notch as well. Can't go wrong choosing Vida to celebrate your next special occasion.

Went to Vida as a part of devour week, what a fantastic experience! The duck confit dumplings were amazing, other highlights of the night were the steak, cappelletti, scallops, and maple donuts! Excellent hospitality with plenty of time in between courses. We were worried we would be rushed as we were a late seating but that was absolutely not the case.

What a wonderful place to enjoy a holiday dinner! A festive atmosphere without going over the top. The food (of course) was phenomenal. The wine pairings we're perfectly selected. Our server did an excellent job of making recommendations. I recommend the root of all evil. This beat infused drink is great in winter but I look forward to enjoying it on a hot day. I've attached pictures of all the courses that we ate. Not to be missed and make sure you get a reservation.

Vida is the best restaurant in Indy. It's really expensive, but you pay for the great quality. Every dish is cultivated to maximize it's flavor. If you have an advanced palate I really think you will appreciate the creativity of each dish. The service is always great. Nick is a phenomenal server. A friend and I tried Vida last night for the 3 course devour menu. Everything was unbelievably delicious. We were given a delectable amuse bouche to start and ordered Tropic of Capricorn drinks (love a good egg white cocktail!). I had a seared tuna for my first course and my friend had the wall salad. The tuna melted in my mouth and had great sauce pairings. My friend said the wall salad was good, but she loves beets and said the salad could never have too many beets. I tried the black angus ribeye and she enjoyed the scallops. Both were phenomenal. We both had the chocolate torte which was tasty. We got to know the table next to us who begged us to try the panna cotta and it was insanely delicious. A huge star was the bread. The focaccia and the zucchini bread were stellar and we were stuffed after all this high quality food. The service was impeccable! I will definitely be back!

My favorite “chef” restaurant in Indy. The crown gem of the Cunningham Restaurant Group. The food is truly art and must be tasted to believe. The 6 course tasting is a bit pricey, but it is worth it. Ask for Doug or Catherine or sit with Jesse at the bar.

Absolutely stunned by how flavorful and savory the food was. Even foods I usually don’t like, I enjoyed at Vida. The only reason why I would rate it a 4/5 was due to the service and timing. Our service did not seem on par with the quality of the food we received, and we were being served courses when we weren’t finished with the previous one. However, this does not take away from how delicious the food was, and I would definitely recommend coming here.

Delicious food, nice presentation, great customer service, nice atmosphere. The tables for 2 were a bit too close to each other for my taste. I could hear “our neighbours” conversations. One recommendation about the food: foie gras tastes disgusting when is warm/hot (in my opinion). I had it before and still didn’t like it! You should specify in your menu that foie gras comes warm! If I knew, I would have picked something else. Everything else was good.

I don’t quite know where to begin with this review. For our anniversary, my partner and I went to Vida and got the six course tasting menu. We both can say unequivocally that this was the best meal we’ve ever had. Every single bite was complex, flavorful, and bright. The ingredients were all noticeably fresh - the hydroponic herb wall helped with that - and the wine pairings were perfect. It was undoubtedly pricey, but the meal was worth its weight in gold. Our server, Nick, was very professional, and knowledgeable about the menu. The chef clearly knows what he’s doing, and Indianapolis is lucky to have such a wonderful spot.

Vida is always top notch when it comes to service, freshness, food quality and ambiance. Every visit has been consistent and even though they offer something different based on the season, I've never been disappointed. It's a great place for a date and the 4-6 course deals are recommended. It makes more sense from a cost standpoint and if you only get one item, you might leave hungry as the portions are meant to be eaten as part of the course.

Simply delightful in every regard. The wine pairing with the chefs tasting honestly does taste good with the food but by the end I was at "I'm too drunk to taste this chicken." Levels of alcohol. To be fair I got a cocktail and champagne as well though so maybe I wouldn't have been quite so drunk. Moral of the story, if you're getting wine pairing a makes sure you don't get any additional alcohol.

Absolutely one of the best restaurants in Indianapolis! The service was STELLAR! The food was incredible. There was so much thought and creativity put into each and every dish. You can pick from a 4 or 6 course menu and they have a chefs tasting menu as well. Great wines, ambience, just overall did not disappoint at all. Attire is business casual, valet parking out front. Do yourself a favor and try it!!!

Part of me wanted to give this place 4 stars. But this place is fantastic and deserves 5. Why did I think about four stars it is EXPENSIVE And you do not get much food. You are allowed to order ala carte but never do that. The plates here are small and ordered individually are 100% not worth it. What you get would be outstanding but for $40 getting something the size of a small appetizer not worth it. They do offer a tasting menu and that really is what this restaurant is designed for. They have a 4 course I think it's $68. With the 4 course you can pick whatever appetizer entree dessert you want off the menu. They also have a 6 course Chefs menu , that is set. It was $84? When I went. The service here was some of the best high-end service I've ever had. It's formal but not stuffy. All of the dishes I've had here were very subtle in taste but complex in flavor. The desserts were very strong in flavor while still being extremely complex. Both dishes and desserts were fantastic. The Cunningham Restaurant Group always seems to do places that are very nice and exactly what I'm looking for in whatever type of restaurant they do. This one is no exception to that rule. I will never be back here often I just can't spend that kind of money eating out. But for a special occasion I will likely be back.

Fantastic! They have the seasonal menu and all the dishes are amazing! The waiter is very friendly and introduce the dishes nicely. The atmosphere is cozy and the decoration is stylish. Will definitely be the must restaurant if you are in the area

Perfectly tucked away in downtown Indianapolis, Vida is by far and away one of the best restaurants Indy has to offer. You literally haven't dined in Indy unless you've dined at Vida. The curb appeal is amazing. The entry, the aesthetics inside, did I mention the "wall greens"? The only thing I didn't appreciate was how helpful they were in offering to remove our plates. Almost felt as if they were rushing us. I would have liked for them to check to see if we were done with our course before coming out with the next one. Again, made me feel rushed. The food was absolutely amazing! The wait staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Definite recommend you give it a try. Book your reservation on the OpenTable app a couple weeks in advance to ensure you get a prime time spot. Otherwise you'll be lucky to get a seat at the bar.

I ate dinner at Vida tonight and let me tell you, it was one of the two best meals I've had in my 13 years living in Indianapolis. A beautifully done remodel and expansion of the Italian restaurant that had previously been at that location. Very warm, inviting, and comfortable environment. As for the food, it was, for the most-part, pretty spectacular. First, a server brought out an amuse-bouche, a crispy house-made potato chip topped with a bit of pimento cheese and a chervil leaf; while a small single bite, the flavor exploded in our mouths. My brother and I knew we were in for a great experience. Next came a basket of Bacon-Onion Scones and their signature Friendship Bread, both very tasty. For the first course, I had the Carrot-Coconut Veloute, a smooth, creamy soup that was delicious. My brother had a Seared Scallop with Dashi Broth that he couldn't stop talking about. For the second course, my brother had the Oxtail Pirogi with Horseradish Potato Puree. The Pirogi was outstanding and the potatoes were great, with just a hint of horseradish. On the other hand, I had the Foie Gras, which was a little disappointing. While the foie itself was very good, the portion was pretty minuscule. The plate was garnished with toasted cubes of the aforementioned Friendship Bread, which I didn't feel t really went with the foie and made the dish feel redundant. For our entrees, we both had the Filet Mignon with Bone Marrow Butter, which came highly recommend by our server. It was perhaps the best filet I've ever had; tender, super juicy, and full of flavor. Finally, for dessert we had another dish the server couldn't recommend more highly, the Ricotta Doughnuts with bourbon maple glaze, candied bacon, and maple cream. OMG! They were amazing, piping hot, light as air, and the perfect ending to a great meal. Additionally, the bar area is very nice, the cocktails creative, and the wine list is good. My brother loved his glass of Chardonnay. The coffee was also very good, and just $5.50 for a pot of fresh French Press. I gave Vida 5 Stars (even with the one stumble with the foie,) which I don't do lightly or often. Mind you, it ain't cheap, but you definitely get what you pay for in quality, service and atmosphere. I highly recommend you consider Vida the next time you're in Indy, have a Special Occasion to celebrate, or when you just want to treat yourself to an extraordinary meal. I look forward to my next visit.

We have been to Vida for 3-4 times in the past 2 years and we think it got better. We think the service got better too. Vida does a good job not overpowering with spices to bring out the taste of the ingredients. Vida also does very well on presenting and decorating food with colors on the plates. Will go back again. Went to vida for an anniversary on a weeknight. It did not dissapoint, right from the beginning with a chamangne toast. We chose the 4 course dinner and had a wine selection as well. Wait staff was very attentive and made us feel like first class customers. The food was delicious and the decor is modern and comfortable. The donuts were the best part- you must try them!

I’m so happy I came across Vida after probably hours of looking for something different than a steakhouse (even dough one of the courses was steak and IT WAS THE BEST we had in town). Vida is TOP NOTCH, I’m so happy I got a table but if you can’t find one please go ahead and sit at the bar because this is worthy! Making reservations already for me next visit, can’t wait to try the rest of the menu. Thank you to all the staff, it was truly a remarkable evening!

Summary: One of the best Cunningham restaurants with a pricetag from New York This hidden gem sits in the middle of a beautiful downtown community and has a great face. When you walk in the aesthetic looks playful and slightly pretentious but you are greeted by a smell that must be heaven and a kitchen that came out of a movie. The bar was slow, however it was the last day of devour and I didn't want to rush anyone. The staff had a respectful attitude and look as if they were pulled from the cool kids table. House manager looks like a stiff but was a great guy. Food from the devour menu was great. I'm going back next paycheck.

Everything about the experience at Vida is special. Service: From the moment you walk through the door you are treated as an honored guest. The waitstaff goes above and beyond typical service by making you feel at home and offering recommendations based on your particular taste. Food: I have tried both the four course and six course tasting menus on separate occasions. The flavor is just something you have to experience for yourself. Suffice to say it is exceptional. Both sizes are plenty of food, although the six course left me completely stuffed. The highlights for me include the Hawaiian Kanpachi, the pork belly, and the Ricotta doughnuts. Wine and Cocktails: The cocktail menu, like everything else, is thoughtfully crafted. The wine pairings are masterful. When my wife and I had our six course dinner, we opted to have it with wine pairings. The pours are not quite a full glass, but it was close enough. By the end of the night we were thoroughly drunk, so be warned! I cannot recommend Vida highly enough. We've come to expect consistent quality from Cunningham Group restaurants over the years, but Vida is more than quality. It is a flagship dining experience.

I was having trouble finding a restaurant in Indy that was truly serving food for advanced palates and had a presentation to the food that made it a whole experience. Vida is the place! My husband and I got separate dishes for almost every course and were both eating every last bite of each course it was delectable! The textures were on point. The flavors on point. The presentation was beautiful and the timing and service was fantastic. I gave five stars and will be dining here again. It was very classy but casual. They do switch out your ware for each course but they do not wipe the table between them however, if that would stop you from dining here you would be missing out on the best food in Indy!

If you go to Vida and they try to seat you upstairs, fight them. Do not let it happen. Upstairs is a sterile-corporate room, void of any character or atmosphere. With that said. This was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The menu is 'bring you to your knees and pray for forgiveness' delicious. The staff are delightful and knowledgeable of the plates. They happily indulged our very visible excitement over the food. The tartare and foi gras were our favorites, one of which we had to order twice.

My husband and I took our parents here for our annual Christmas dinner this year. It was amazing from start to finish. Daisy was our server, and she was phenomenal. She was so sweet and friendly and always present but never intrusive. The entire staff worked well together to provide a flawless experience. We even had the pleasure of being served by their sommelier, Roddy. Everyone seemed to enjoy working there, which always makes for a great atmosphere. Oh and the food - absolutely incredible! But compared to other places of similar price range I’d say that Vida is at or tied for the top. Would highly recommend and will be coming back. Oh - and the “great room” or whatever that room is with the fireplace is amazing. It’s got a rustic industrial style that is unique and adds to the great ambience.

We ate dinner at Vida last night to celebrate a few birthdays coming this week. It might have been the best meal I've ever eaten at a restaurant! The service was on point, no waiting for anything, drop a fork, a new fork appears! A little water spilled on your napkin, a new napkin appears! Need a drink, server on top of it! But the food was the fantastic! Everything was cooked to perfection. The flavors were put together with thought and precision. 5 people ordered mostly different items, we were all sharing bite off of each others plates all night. The pace of dinner was thoughtful as well. Enough time to sit, share, and enjoy the company of friends and the great food. I found this place while looking for a nice dinner with my wife before a show and Lucas Oil Stadium. We enjoyed the Chef tasting menu which was creative and delisted. The staff was very accommodating to our time frame and my wife’s food restrictions while pregnant. Food and drinks were excellent. Staff was super friendly and professional. Decor was minimalist modern with nice patio and pass through fireplace. Recommended if you are looking for a nice dinner and great alternative to the heavier steakhouses and breweries downtown.

Ha I recommend going for it and ordering the chefs menu +wine pairings (as it's ever changing) but truly an incredible ride of flavors and the genius behind putting things together covering every bit of every bite of each plate* from textures, balance of sweet,savory, and how it's presented is also quite a treat in itself. They take great pride in every detail of every part of your experience and the meal and drink throughout!!! A great date night spot, but also a very comfortable bar area layout for individual dining. A real Indy treat of a restaurant!

We all ordered the 4 course meal with appetizer bites, salads, 4 wagyu ribeyes (phenomenal @ medium rare...seared and super tender inside) with various desserts. Couldn’t complain about taste and presentation. We had a hiccup with timeliness of food. However, this was more than compensated by our server and manager. We couldn’t be more thankful for the customer service. I want to personally thank our bartender/server Etta (sp?) and the manager Whitney. This is the best fine dining spot in Indy. The four-course is an amazing value at $65 per person when you consider the artistry involved in every dish. This has been the best dining experience I have ever had. Instantly became my favorite place to eat - the food was actually flavorful and worth every penny. Yes they are more expensive than your "normal" restaurants around town but the food is far better than anything these other restaurants are offering. I am not sure what issue others were having with service but I enjoy going out and have a dinner experience of new foods and tastes and Vida did not disappoint. Our server was excellent and explained anything that went over our heads.

Service was good. We did the $65 4 course and the tuna in course 1 was bland. Honestly, it's trying too hard to be very upscale with its tiny petite dishes. Each dish should blow my hair back. It didn't. Twice as much food and better at Livery.

This is just 8 blocks from our present home. It is our restaurant of choice on special occasions. The adaptive reuse of a historic old building is handled creatively and you know that you are in a very special place. The menu is a unique blend of locally produced meats and produce. They have a large hydroponic salad garden. The menu is price fix or al a carte. I have never been disappointed. I absolutely love this place. Food items are thoughtfully presented on the menu and they have a tasting menu with wine pairings. Very few places have this in Indy and even less than that do it correctly.

I went to Vida with 3 others yesterday. We each ordered differently and each of us was impressed with the food and service. Vida has two fixed priced menu options one for $65 and one for $85 which can be had with a wine pairing for as n additional fee. All the green vegetables where grown on a wall in the restaurant. We chose the $65 option. The $65 menu has 4 courses and each course has 4 options. The portions aren't large but having 4 courses completely makes up for that. The food had a beautiful presentation and was delicious and flavorful.

My girlfriend and daughter chose this place for my birthday as somewhere we had never been and a new adventure. They couldn't have chosen better. I had no idea where we were going. Dinner was a wonderful experience. There are many places that work with unusual flavors and textures and achieve food that people say they like so they can be "in". This is the kind of place that does it and actually achieves something delicious and satisfying. The contrasting and complimentary flavors in the dishes were superb. I enjoyed my yellowfin tuna with corn relish, Foie Gras with brioche, scallops with pork belly and mushrooms, then the ricotta donuts. Every choice we each made was amazing. Even my critical daughter loved everything she had. I highly recommend this place for a special meal.

My family surprised me with a dinner at Vida for my 58th bday. The entire dinner was absolutely fantastic, as was the service. We have only the highest praise for the entire evening! We have visited Vida about 5 times now and every visit is wonderful. When friends ask for a great place for a special evening we immediately recommend Vida. A colleague and I are in town for a conference and had the pleasure on 9/4/2019 of eating dinner at Vida. If you’re looking for the one sentence review, I’ll simply say it is the best restaurant dining experience I’ve ever had in my life, with a special shout out to our server Mike D. For those of you who want to know more, follow along. There is more than one reason that I give this restaurant such a high classification. One, the menu selection is only complete with options that do not fall over each other. What I mean is they’re not bringing in chicken for the purpose of making 13 different chicken dishes to make the selection seem larger than it is. No, you have what has to be a carefully selected (curated even, like an art museum) menu with purpose specific ingredients that create an amazing food (I don’t say culinary, I’m not that fancy) experience. So, what did I eat? Well, my partner and I started with the charcuterie plate. It’s balance was towards meat, but the pimento cheese was out of this world! Then started my first portion of the four-course tasting menu I chose. First, I had the beef tartare. It was my first time having such a dish, so I have nothing to compare it to. It was in short, excellent. Second, I had the foie gras. Again, my first time having such a dish. It was an incredibly delicate setting of what had a consistency and luxuriousness not far from bone marrow. I have no idea why strawberry jam goes with duck liver but man, it does. Next, I had the scallops. Three good size scallops were on my plate accompanied by pork belly, soy beans, corn, chanterelle mushrooms, and a delicious sauce. This preparation was different than what’s on the online menu, but I was incredibly impressed by the execution and flavor. Again, truly luxurious. Finally, I ended with the ricotta donuts. Maple cream is spread across the plate and topped with crumbled candied bacon, delicious ice cream, and maple glazed donuts. We gave an actual standing ovation to the kitchen team as we left. Again, I place this overall dining experience as the best I’ve ever experienced at a restaurant. Not enough reasons? Ok cool. Ask for Mike D. Tell him the dude with a mustache from Wisconsin sent you. Mike took the time to go over the menu with my colleague and I and answer all of our questions as well as make recommendations based on what we thought we’d like. All of his recommendations were spot on, however the execution of the food we received leads me to believe I’d have been happy with anything I ordered. Back to Mike. I work for a multi year Stevie Award-winning company. Look it up. The service I received from Mike D. was not on any other level than what I would expect out of any of my coworkers. He is a great ambassador not only to Vida, but also for Indianapolis. A world class experience from a world class individual. Thank you Vida, for making some Midwestern dude on a business trip incredibly happy with his time here. I will do whatever it takes to come back again!

I would think that few restaurants in Indy could compete with Vida. From the moment I walked in, I knew the dinner would be special. To the welcoming host and hostess, to the bartenders who couldn't stop talking about their favorite menu items, service is at the tip of this dining spear. The outstanding was usurped only by the delicious food. Try the veal sweetbread and yellowfin tuna to awaken the taste buds. The foie gras is some of the best I've had anywhere. You may roll your eyes when I suggest the chicken (Trust me, I did the same thing) as many do, but the bartender was so insistent I try it, I thought sure....Typical chicken, it is not. Finally, the ricotta donuts....If they only sold the ricotta donuts, they would still be one of the best restaurants in Indy. One of the best desserts I've ever had. They're that good.

Our experience was amazing. We have eaten here once before, and everything was great. It was even better tonight. Or server, Angie, was great. She took our food allergies into consideration for every course, even the amouse bouche. They made a special preparation for an allergy. Angie was attentive, as was the whole staff. The manager, Whitney was great. She died by our table and made sure that our experience was great. She was genuinely interested in our experience. Alex, the sommelier, made a great recommendation on a bottle of wine that we'd never heard of, and it went great with the food. He also made a pairing for our individual desserts, and they made them a perfect finish for the evening. You would be doing yourself a favor letting Vida make your evening meal a pleasure. Great great establishment, one of the best dining experiances in indy. After the meal, i was fortunate enough to get a tour from our server. We went towards the end of the night and were among the last diners on a Saturday night. They showed us there meat drying/curing room, explained the architecture, and showed off the hydroponic living wall which is literally a vertical garden. The kitchen and service staff were happy to be there and it showed at every moment.

Simply put, this is our favorite restaurant in Indy. Each course we have tried tasted delicious (both times we have been here). Having eaten in over 300 restaurants in central Indiana, I have high expectations for service, ambiance and the food needs full flavor with creativity and originality to earn my highest marks. This place has it all. Sure, the price is on the upper end of Indy's restaurants, so if that is a concern, save this place for a special occasion. Vida is the star of the Cunningham Restaurant family-and that is saying a lot because they have some other very nice restaurants. But the food and the food experience reminds me of being in some of downtown Chicago’s neighborhoods on a summer afternoon. The beautiful window view out into Lockerbie invites the neighborhood right in. And sitting in the bar-sans TV-is one of my favorite intimate places to have a casual dinner with my spouse.
