This is definitely one of my favorite Cunningham restaurants. I love that they change with the seasons and the food is always top notch. We love to get a cocktail first and ask the bartender to come up with something on their own and they don't back down from the challenge. The space is trendy and comfortable and we've always had great service. They also have a great selection of craft beer and wine.

Loved it, a new favorite for us! We went to celebrate our anniversary, and the reservation was easy to make. The ambiance is lively but still private, very cool bar area with tons of seating and very comfortable looking bar seats. We had the chef's choice charcuterie, shrimp and grits and the lamb shank and let me tell you, it was all delicious! The shrimp and grits is one of my favorite dishes I've had at any restaurant, I cannot recommend it enough. Great service, and the drinks were refreshing and interesting! I had the "Nerf Herder" cocktail and my boyfriend had the "You want a peach of me?". Both we would order again. One of our new favorite restaurants, we will most definitely be back!

Union 50 is outstanding! We got there at the end of a Friday night close to 10pm. All the staff were pleasant and gracious. Our waiter, Brandon, was awesome! We had the tomahawk pork chop and the hallibut oscar special. The Pool Party cocktail was deliciously fruity. I wanted more of the tomato & cheese appetizer - so fresh and yummy 😋

I went with my daughter during Devour, and we had a blast! I love Devour and attempt to try at least one new restaurant every time. As many restaurants as I've tried, I have to say this is one of, if not my best Devour experience. My fish was so delicious, and even the side was a perfect match. My daughter's steak was slightly overcooked for what we ordered, but it was so tender that she loved it anyway. Our appetizers were delicious (although the salad was only good, while my daughter's choice was fantastic). And the desserts were also amazing! We will definitely be back even without Devour because there were so many things on the regular menu that we wanted to try. I definitely suggest this as a great date night spot!

My husband and I are HUGE fans of Union 50. Possibly our favorite restaurant in the city. We ordered the Lamb Shank and the Duck.. WOW. incredible flavors, incredible atmosphere, AND incredible company (we ended up sitting at the bar and had a blast with those we sat near). Also manager & bartender Jay is the best in city. 👏🏼Thanks Jay for being so great!

To say I was impressed would be a horrendous understatement. I had the best mussels of my life in central Indiana. I was thrilled with nearly every facet of my dining experience. Our server, Cameron, was exceptional—attentive, helpful, fun. The food was spectacular and understated. Exactly what a brasserie is supposed to be. I had a Sage of Enlightenment and it was a refined and exciting. My wife’s sticky wings were a brilliant. The fries were incredible. This is a must-try establishment!

I’ve come here for a number of our special occasion dinners and with family, it never disappoints. Our waiters have a been excellent and eligible about the menu, and then helping prepare a great dinner experience from ordering suggestions to timing of entrées brought out. Definitely recommend trying union 50, all of the meals we have had were fantastic.

This modern New American remains one of our preferred spots on Mass Ave and one of the brighter stars from the Cunningham Restaurant Group constellation of restaurants. The menu doesn't turn over as quickly as some of the others, but in this case it speaks to the strength of the kitchen's repertoire rather than a lack of creativity.

I waited too long to write this review, so I cannot go into much detail. The French Fries were great. So was the steak. I want to go back and get more food from this excellent restaurant. I highly recommend Union 50.

Very unique spins on classic dishes! I’ve dined at Union 50 four times and have tried many of the dishes. Small/Medium Plates: cheese board (9/10 but still overpriced), wood fired tomatoes + goat cheese (6/10), bone marrow (10/10), Caesar Salad (7/10 expect unique), Kimchi Meatloaf (8/10 tomato is very overwhelming). THE FRENCH FRIES ARE PERFECT— order the duck + rosemary and pair with garlic aoli. Large plates: Duck Duck (10/10 YUM, the duck confit + sweet potato is addictive), Lamb Shank (10/10), Roasted Half Chicken (6/10 not notable or flavorful). Everything was good, even the foods with lower ratings! Anything below an 8, I would not order again.

Union 50 is absolutely fantastic! Their cocktails are amazing and the food was drool worthy! We had the tomato with goat cheese and bread for an appetizer. Then for our main course we had the shrimp and grits and the gnochi with the hand cut fries with queso and expresso bbq sauce. For dessert we both had the tres Leche. AMAZING!!!!Seriously melt in your mouth food! The staff was very informative, helpful, and very friendly. Our waiter was great, he was very attentive and even let us know of a sister restaurant near where we live! Overall fantastic experience! Props to the chef! Thank you for an exceptional experience!

Try the poutine. Upscale but casual, this is a great restaurant for the price. Its cool atmosphere and friendly, knowledgeable staff make navigating the seasonally changing menu easy.

This restaurant was not what I was expecting, at all! The ambiance and vibe in the restaurant is top tier and the music they play is not what you’d think from looking at the restaurant on the outside. Our waiter, Josh, was great! He made some delicious recommendations on our bourbon drinks and gave us some honest feedback when deciding on our charcuterie board. Oh, did I mention this restaurant has charcuterie boards?! I was happily surprised when I saw that on the menu. Not to mention the food was scrumdidliumptious!! I don’t know why it took me so long to come here, but I would highly recommend this place for a date night or even just an afternoon of drinking and nibbling with friends! Photo 1: Stellum Old Fashioned Josh recommended this to me and it was delicious! The Sterling bourbon really gave the drink a nice smoky and spicy flavor! Definitely a good choice in bourbon if you enjoy this drinks! Photo 2: Sage of Enlightenment Another Old Fashioned that caught our eye on the menu. This one has a very light flavor to it. The sage was a really nice touch! Photo 3: Charcuterie Board I was super excited for a charcuterie board. From left to right we chose Nancy’s Camembert, Salami Piccante, Pimento Cheese and Potato-Bacon Terrine. Delicious. Delicious. Delicious. That’s all I’m going to say! Salami Piccante and Pimento paired really well if you enjoy a little spice in your life. Photo 4: Kimichi Meatloaf I’m a huge meatloaf fan and I had been craving it recently, so I tried it on their menu. The meatloaf was delicious. It was cooked to the way I enjoy my meatloaf - the inside not too mushy and the outside not too firm. The Thai Ketchup was a nice mixture with the hearty meaty flavor of the meatloaf. Also, the Potato Fritter was a nice surprise as well. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it all paired so well! Photo 5: Duckfat + Rosemary Fries Yum! It also comes with two sauces and I chose White Queso and Sriracha Aioli - fire. Photo 6: King Salmon The salmon was cooked to perfection, meanwhile the Spinach-Mushroom Risoto was to die for. The Tomato Beurre Blanc was a nice sauce with the dish as well. Photo 7: Cloud City A drink that caught my eye because it was made with Mezcal. A smoky yet sweet flavor that any mezcal drinker would approve of.

Most highlight of 5 dishes we ordered was the bone marrow, I liked it a lot. I wish they would have told us to hurry finish it before it get cold though. We sat outside so it got cold real quick and once it got cold, the bone marrow fat didn't taste good anymore. The rest of the dish such as fish, shrimp, rib eyes, board plate... wasn't impressive at all. I had it better at other place. Their sister restaurant, Vida, on the other hand was phenomenal. I literally go there every chance I could, doesn't matter if by myself or with friends.

Always a go-to spot for cocktails and charcuterie. This is definitely a great date night place. The cocktail menu changes often and I’ve never tried one that wasn’t incredible. The staff is also so friendly.

05/07/22 Update - we are back in town and decided to go back to Union 50. 05/07 UPDATE - This time we had the whole family (Son, Daughter and Son-in-law). We started with Pastrami Poutine, and then moved on to our main courses. I had their Kimchi Meatloaf and my wife had their 6oz Sirloin and my daughter had the Shrimp & Grits. The boys had the 10oz New York Steak dinner. All of our meals were presented nicely and tasted fantastic. Our server, Caroline was very attentive and made our experience memorable. What a great discovery today. We are in town from California for a Colts game tomorrow. We decided to visit Union 50. So glad we did. The staff is awesome (Helpful and Friendly). We sat at the bar because the restaurant already was booked solid. Glad we sat at the bar. It was a nice experience and we had a good conversation with other patrons and the bar staff. The food was awesome. My wife had the Tenderloin Steak and it was better then a lot of Fillets. Tender and cooked to perfection. My son had their chicken dish and said he really enjoyed. I went with the Shrimp & Grits and glad that I did. Full of flavor and their was plenty of perfectly cooked Shrimp with the grits. If you want a great dining experience you should visit Union 50.

Amazing food! Service was fantastic. We got the chef selected charcuterie board - definitely request the pork belly. You get a ridiculous amount of bread too (see photo). For our mains we got the sticky chicken wings and the daily special, the rib eye. Asked for it to be cooked medium rare and it was more on the medium side but still very good.

Update: Went back to my favorite place around week of 4th of July and again on Sunday September 4th. Had Carolyn as my waitress this time and from appetizers, to our meals through to every extra sauce and change up on silverware she didn't miss a beat. We saw she had quite a few tables and was attentive to all of them. Carolyn is an example of the excellent attentive service you'll have here EVERYTIME!!!! I finally remembered to get a name before I left lol. ALL of them from wait staff, cooks and bartenders come highly recommended. (2021 post) Excellent service, food and atmosphere. I can go on and on. My new favorite place to eat since 2018. Thankful for curbside pickup and it was JUST as good as eating inside. Hot, fresh and perfect. Great job again guys!!!!

lovely venue. Very friendly staff. Great interior design and nice atmosphere. I ordered the pan fried Gnocci dish with chicken - It was a little bland to my taste. The chicken was also dry. Other than that, I enjoyed my dining experience and I’m more than likely to go back to try other dishes on the menu.

One of my favorite restaurants. Food and drink menus are top notch. Highly recommend the Will's Haircut and Beef Tenderloin. The Grand Charcuterie board will never disappoint a party of 4 or so. Will keep coming back here for special occasions!

This place has the best everything—best food, best cocktails, best dessert, best service, best atmosphere. Everything here is stellar! And while it’s a nicer place it’s not wildly expensive. It’s pretty affordable for the quality of food and service. We went here as our splurge meal for the weekend trip and it didn’t disappoint. Though they seem to change their themed cocktails regularly, we were there when it was Star Wars themed. We both geeked out over it and each one was delicious. The menu is also seasonal so if you see something you like, don’t wait. We each got a seafood option, Smoked Salmon and Arctic Char. They both were delicious and perfectly filling without being overwhelming. We topped it all off with the Chocolate Terrine and waitress recommended dessert port. When I say this chocolate, ice cream, and blackberry sauce dessert is the best restaurant dessert I’ve had, I mean it. I’d like to eat here every night!

Dined at Union 50 tonight. It took us nearly an hour to get there and we were really looking forward to a nice evening. As it turned out, seemed more like wham, bam, thank you, ma'am!! We decided to sit at the bar even though we had reservations. We had good service but everything came out soooo fast we barely had time to enjoy our cocktails!! Ordered an appetizer and in less than 5 minutes it was brought out.. As we were finishing the appetizer our waiter asked us if we wanted to order dinner so we did. Not more than 3 MINUTES later our entrees were brought out! So much for enjoying a nice evening out. Again the food was very good but we really felt rushed and realized our meals were not cooked to order. We dined at Union 50 about a year ago because it's a long distance away and I will think twice about the fact that it took us longer to drive and park then it did to order an appetizer and an expensive entree!!

Delicious food and a wonderful atmosphere!! The patio is so pretty. We got the special: pan-crusted fish with udon, charred brocollini, and pineapple purée. The appetizer was Wood-roasted tomatoes and goat cheese with bread. Both were fantastic, well cooked, and beautiful, the fish was moist and played with the richness of the noodles and the brightness of the pineapple and cucumber. The tomatoes and cheese were so fresh-tasting, definitely the best food I’ve had in a while. Also got an orange mocktail, not bad either and really cute. Server was nice and helpful as well, and the price wasn’t even that bad, around $45 for all this. Will come back!!

Classy atmosphere with really good food and great service! A bit spendy but worth it! Menu is built for sharing which is great because your going to want to try everything. Ordered the chilaquiles poutine to share as an appetizer, the pork chop and the kimchi meatloaf. Everything was delicious and pork chop was cooked perfectly👌! In addition the waitstaff was friendly, knowledgeable and proud of the menu. Will definitely return.

Ok things I liked: great atmosphere, delicious deserts,good customer service. Things I didn’t like: old scallops,too chewy. Coming to Indianapolis from Atlantic Canada, you learn about seafood freshness. Duck was great, good shrimp and grits (would have been nice if they didn’t have tails).

I can’t get enough!!! I am a chef and I don’t do many restaurants. I love the journey of flavors my palet travels with every dish! Such a great spot for dinner and drinks! We came here for the first time during Devour Indy, so the menu was a bit different than usual. We had swordfish and chicken and waffles, and are so sad these choices aren't on their usual menu - they were fantastic! The cocktails were excellent - I recommend the peach cocktail. The dessert choices were a chocolate gnache and a tres leches cupcake and both were delicious. Service was great, and we can't wait to come back!

Great service. Fun but relaxed atmosphere. The pork chop had excellent flavor and the serving was quite generous! The other entree was the chicken which was also beautifully presented and excellent. We were celebrating three birthdays and the waiter was kind to present us with three candles on the carrot cake which was had a hint of orange.

One of the good Cunningham’s , loved the way they did the menu, food was presented in the best way possible and tested amazing. They have a well thought balanced menu, being vegetarian got a plenty of options. Quite a few seating option. You won’t regret spending some additional $ for upscale experience!

Wonderful high end restaurant. We had date night while out of town and this was the perfect spot. We ate dinner early so it was still quiet, but they had live music scheduled later that evening. The food was incredible. We got the chilaquiles poutine for an appetizer and split the pork chop dinner. The lighting in the pictures don’t do the food justice. It was as pretty as it was delicious.

Very impressed with my first restaurant experience in Indy. Staff is friendly and efficient. The space is large and open, although a bit loud. The food was excellent. The bone marrow was good; I loved the fried chickpeas. The special dry aged ribeye steak was probably some of the best I’ve had. The duo band (drums and keyboard) belted our some ridiculous tunes all night.

This was my second visit and I enjoyed it better than my first one. I got the fries, and it's always good. For a drink, I ordered the "just my imagination", and it's very refreshing especially in a hot day. The bone marrow was good but nothing special.

Went for a birthday dinner. The space they gave us for reservation was cozy and off to the side for us to have our own party and not have so much loud noise from everyone else in the place. The server was friendly and very helpful since it was our first time there. We all tried different meals and loved each of them. They have a unique way of mixing flavors and it’s a party in your mouth.

It was very chill atmosphere. Intimate seating. The bar is absolutely beautiful to look at if you're into the industrial look. It's a little expensive - at least 100 for 2 people , not including dessert or many drinks

Really nice atmosphere. The staff are incredibly kind and you can meet some really great people sitting around the bar. The live music is always on point and the food is great (although a bit pricey). I had an order of pastrami poutine that hit the spot - it was very salty towards the end though. Definitely one of the top places to dine at if you're looking for an upscale casual vibe.

Lived here in Indy for almost a year and just made my way to Union 50. I now know what I've been missing. Great atmosphere, artisan cocktails, and food that is so good you overeat on purpose. They have something for everyone. For the drinker in you, there's a good selection of wine and beer on tap. The outdoor seating is ample and clean. They have a seating area in the back that looks to be great for large parties. Several couples were in the main dining area and I too would go back back for date night. Another plus: Live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Go you won't regret it.

A hidden treasure in downtown Indy! Awesome atmosphere, cool decor, extremely knowledgeable staff, glistening clean and amazing food. Perfect for a romantic dinner for the two of you, taking a client to lunch/dinner, or stopping by for cocktails and appetizers. Excellent mixologists at the incredibly extensive bar can make you anything your taste buds desire (no blender, this is not that kind of place). The Chef has come up with dishes that are truly unique that are a very welcomed change from the typical dishes that come a dime a dozen all over town. Don't know what something is or need a suggestion? The staff could answer any question (and then some) that we could throw at them! We tried on of their versions of Poutine (scrumptious! especially the shredded pork and avocado!!! *Picture below), the Lamb entree and the Duck entree (the blackberry glaze set the Duck off, INCREDIBLE!), and a margarita on the rocks with fresh muddled strawberries and a sugar rim (tasty and strong!*picture below). Highly recommend it and will be going back. It's not cheap, we spent about $120 for everything plus tip, however you get what you pay for. NOT A PLACE FOR KIDS! They also have outdoor seating and live music here sometimes.

I had a great dinner and wonderful service. I know my girl friends and I will be returning. The food was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. I had the salmon and one of my friends had the steak. The place was clean, good lighting, my water glass was never empty, and the food was delicious, delicious, delicious. Served quickly and we did not feel rushed after enjoying the food. I highly recommend for those looking for good food, but it is not cheap, but I work too hard not to treating my self properly. 😁🤪😁. Happy eating comes with good food and great friends. Truly thankful to have enjoyed both at Union 50.

Excellent restaurant tucked in near Mass Ave. Overall, the food is delicious, service fantastic, and the staff were friendly and very willing to walk you through the menu. We had the Dates and Bone Marrow for starters and the Shrimp and Grits and Swordfish for mains. They offered up a bone marrow luge (for a small price of course) with vermouth, port, or Madeira which was fun. Highly recommend Union 50!

Ordered a meat board appetizer. Great opening that included artisan bread, a variety of meat, cheeses and condiments. Enjoyed a Ribeye steak with carmalized onions and potatoes. Dining room atmosphere wass relaxed and temperature appropriate. Knowledgeable server walked me through the menu and provides impeccable service! The evening closed with the best carrot cake I've ever eaten.

Finding Union 50 was one of the highlights of my most recent trips to Indianapolis. After a productive work day with a customer, Union 50 provided the atmosphere, ambiance, and great food that I needed to decompress. There was a live band playing popular 80s and 90s tunes. An energetic buzz was in the air with a busy but not jam packed crowd. For dinner I tried the Grand Board of chef's choice meat and cheese. The quality of the selection was beyond my sometimes snobbish expectations. The meat was cold and of high quality. The cheeses complimented the meats and the breads and crackers made perfect substrates for the meal. I'll be back the next time I am in town and will recommend this to my fellow travelers as a must try destination. (Pic taken between crowds)

I've been nothing but wowed with the great food Indianapolis has to offer, but Union 50 takes the cake. Every dish I enjoyed was plated beautifully and tasted just as wonderfully. The bone marrow dish could make the blind see and convert a vegan to the dark side. The service is top notch and the interior space is open and impressive. I would give this place ten stars if possible!

Best dinner I ever had in Indy and best service I've received in a restaurant since 2019. Took some clients to dinner. Menu looked fantastic, I was undecided on what I wanted because so many choices/pairings looked great. Kimmie our server, suggested excellent dishes (I had the lamb) and I'm a huge poutine fan (try both!) she walked me through the process and made an excellent dining experience even better. Next trip to Indy this will be my first choice for dinner. I am not a drinker however everyone really enjoyed the drinks.

Ordered take out a hour ahead but sure they never started my dish until I arrived.Had to wait no less than 15 minutes, and ordered meatloaf and certain it wasn't freshly made but was okay. I will say the dining room & bar is a beautiful setting. Wow great customer service experience they addressed what happened fixed it. Lol Had the Lamb Shank & my lady had Shrimp & Grits and both were off the charts wonderful...

One of my favorite Indy restaurants for a nice time but not too high end. Perfect for out-of-towners. The truffle fries and mussels are always a go-to. Love the cocktails too, and tonight I especially loved my gnocchi. Got a great recommendation from our server Brandon too to add blackened chicken to it - it was awesome! I would like to add that in the past, this place used to be very aggressive about taking your plate. I used to literally guard with my fork. But tonight, I experienced only gracious "Are we still working on this?" The answer was of course "yes," but I highly appreciate being asked! So, thank you for improving there, Union50!

We were having a garbage fire of a night. We drove five hours for a show that canceled right before(not their fault, stuff happens) the place we wanted to eat was walk in only and packed. We stumbled upon this place and sat at the bar, thinking we’d grab a quick bite and head back to the hotel. This was the best dining experience I’ve had in years. The two bartenders who took care of us were awesome(one had us doing sherry shots out of marrow bones) the food was outstanding (GET THE LAMB) and the ambiance and overall feel of the place was comfortable and awesome. I’d drive five hours just to eat here again. Marrow was amazing, trust the sherry shooter, get the full charcuterie board, and be the basic girl and sip that Pool Party or Gilded Gent in the sunshine!

I've been to Union 50 at least 3 times by this point. Brought my family when they visited from out of state. One of the best options in the city for an upscale but not black-tie evening. Excellent food and truly outstanding service. I cannot recommend enough. Try the duck!

Had a great experience. In town from NY and had one restaurant to try, went w it on the basis of the reviews and menu. To me this was the best combination of 1) up-to-date culinary options, 2) reasonable prices, 3) ambiance, and 4) convenience. There were a few other interesting restaurants in Indianapolis that Google maps provided, all a bit stuffier, traditional, and over-priced. The charcuterie board was a winner, esp the bacon wrapped terrine. (Wrigleys needs to make a chewing gum that tastes like this, in my professional opinion). We followed this w mussels and kimchi meatloaf, which was plenty for us. Cocktails were decent (appreciate any restaurant that has drink options w frothed egg a la pisco sours). No room for desert but v reasonable check was the icing on the cake!

Best meal we've had out since early summer 2018. I cook well enough to be critical and just didn't find much to fault. The 'Bistro' plates are enough for 3-4 to share and were more creative and better executed than the 'Grand' selections. Best appetizer was the wood fired mushrooms, though the Toast + Jam was more interesting. The lamb shank was easily the best entree. Wine selection is well done and fairly priced. Server wasn't the most experienced, but very attentive and took good care of us. Highly recommended.

BOMB. FIRE. BOOMERS. The wood fired wild mushrooms are next level. I can’t believe how many mushrooms were in this dish. Coupled with a slab of bacon, you could really get into this shroom dish. The picture doesn’t do it justice. Get it with a side of fries with their garlic aioli.

The food here is amazing! My husband, son, and I had dinner here tonight for our anniversary and the food was great and the service even better. We made a reservation and our server, Sam, put a big bottle on the table with a beautiful flower in it to set the table for us. We had the lamb (which was phenomenal by the way), a charcuterie board (highly recommend), beef tartare, bone marrow, swordfish, king salmon, and chocolate terrine. Sam gave us a champagne toast to celebrate and we had some cocktails as well (all amazing). I would highly recommend eating here or celebrating an intimate occasion here. Everything was wonderful.

The service was immaculate as well as literally everything we tried. Came here for an anniversary dinner and it did not disappoint. We started with Sea salt and parsley fries with 3 different dipping sauces. I think our favorite was garlic aoili but the Sriracha one was good as well. We also had the mushroom appetizer and it was the best food I have ever had in a really long time. The entrees were king salmon and roasted chicken and both were perfect. Ended with some chocolate terrine and was a bit chocolaty for me but that's my fault I should have known reading the description. Cocktails were pretty good as well. We will definitely be back and I have already recommended to others.

Kudos to the chefs! They did an awesome job preparing the hand cut fries (had ours with the truffle oil), pork chop and scallops dinner entrees. Everything about each dish, from the meat, sides and sauce on the plate really go well together with layers of flavors. The drink is a hit too! If mezcal is your thing, do the smokey mezcal drink. Make sure you make a reservation especially for outdoor seating. Great tasting, ample portions, great ambiance and hospitable staff. Will return!

Upscale American fair in a clean and neat modern setting. Prices are a little steep, but for the quality of the meal perfectly appropriate. Our wait staff was patient and attentive with our large group as well, which only enhanced the experience. I personally had the shrimp and grits which were absolutely fantastic. The charcuterie platter is a little pricey, but is well assembled and an enjoyable start to a great meal.

May 30, 2021 - reservation @ 8pm Not was I was hoping for from a place with these prices! Service was very slow and our waiter (Cameron) was obviously overwhelmed. The bar was “backed up” all night taking 15-20 minutes to get a drink, which deterred is from ordering another. Food (appetizer) took longer than the drinks, after waiting at our table for 30 minutes for poutine, we were on the verge of asking for the check and canceling our order. When the food finally arrived, it was mediocre at best. Great presentation but not an A! I ordered a chicken Ceasar salad, the chicken had been cooked so long it was dry and flavorless. My dinner guests ordered shrimp and grits, not a pretty plate and again, well over cooked; the other guest ordered Beef Tenderloin which was acceptable, cooked as requested but LOADED with salt! But good luck getting even your water refilled, much less another cocktail to wash it down. The atmosphere was okay, it’s a beautiful building and setting, however, if you are dining inside, prepare to have wait and kitchen staff march THROUGH the dining area all evening with racks of glasses and dishes, it was the main thoroughfare and never stopped. This was a total disappointment in my book and we will not return, after hearing and reading so many nice reviews, it was a major letdown, especially when your bill arrives at over $150 for three people who were left craving a much nicer experience in the end.

Went for my birthday which was on a Tuesday this year. Not crowded at all but not vacant either. Eric the waiter was great. Attentive but not around too much. Enjoyed the shrimp and grits but my dining partner had a room temperature lamb shank. It tasted delicious but needed to be hot coming out of the kitchen. Will be back.

Been here a couple other times for drinks or appetizers but this was the first time for dinner. Came to Indy to see our daughter and celebrate wife’s birthday. We shared dishes. Ordered beet salad and the mussels. Both were excellent. The broth with the mussels is good enough to drink all by itself. The French fry appetizer is outstanding as well. The three of us shared the salmon and the beef tenderloin dinners. Outstanding! Wine and beer list is very good. Service was excellent.

This place is phenomenal. They have a wide selection of beers both local and brand names. They also have an excellent wine list. I ordered the pork chop while I was there. It was honestly the best pork chop I've ever had. I went on a Sunday and it was quiet. If I'm ever in the area again I will definitely go back. If you're just passing through I would highly recommend stopping by!

Food was amazing, though the portions were a bit small for the price. They definitely make up for it because the food was fresh and full of flavor. We got a meat and cheese board, steak, and duck, and spent about $70. Our server was great and really seemed to enjoy being there which made our experience that much better. The food came out quickly as well. You can spend some time there or with a smaller party you can be pretty quick. I would recommend reservations during the busier hours.

Beatiful ambiance. The lamb had a little more fat then I would have thought, but was cooked well and tender. The clams were very good with some special juice that they had at the bottom (I think it had some pepperoni in the juice, I just ate around it). I did feel a bit rushed toward the end of the night, too much checking and trying to take my food that I was still working on, I think my waitress was at the end of her shift. I would have appreciated her letting me know that, better then her grabbing my receipt book and seeing what her tip was and putting it back down (she tried to play it off and act like she was checking something else) so she could leave. She should have just collected them. The food was good and service was ok, but I will eventually return.

Food was excellent and service was excellent as well. We went on a Saturday night with a large group for a birthday party. The staff had our area ready a couple minutes after our reservation and were very friendly. We had one server (Adam) and he was awesome! He had around 30 of us and didn't make a single mistake, he was definitely on top of it! The food was so good! I had the scallops and several others in our group had the poutine and couldn't stop talking about it. The drive is were also great! The seasonal ones for February were Game of Thrones themed and delicious. Would recommend and go back.

Nice high-end restaurant that is still reasonably priced. This restaurant serves great craft drinks that regularly change (favorite right now is the scarlet witch). Most of the drinks are quite "earthy" but good. The menu is based on portion sizes, I don't recall the names of the sizes, but on the right side of the menu it ranges from smaller at the top to larger at the bottom. The meals themselves leave you full, but not too full... like that perfect fullness where you are content but don't feel like you will explode. Servers are quick and efficient. If you are wanting to bring a group, they can cater to that as they have larger tables in the back. If you are with some buds and want some craft drinks, they have an elegant bar section with some fun bar games in the corner. It sounds hokey, but it is done quite well and it does not detract from the elegance of the restaurant and its feel. The games definitely do not give it a "bro" feeling. So if you are wanting a nice meal with good drinks, this is a great restaurant to dine at. Also, be sure to get the loyalty card, it applies to several locations around the Mass Ave area.

This place was fantastic! Our waiter was extremely professional and knowledgeable about the menu as well as their craft beer selection. The setting of the place is modern with a dimly lit cozy feel. The service time was impeccable from never waiting for a refill to our food arriving promptly to the table. Just so you are aware Union 50 is a slightly higher price point. I paid $32 for my dinner and tip which consisted of a beer, artisan bread, and steamed muscles. I would highly recommend the steamed muscles.

Great dining experience. Decor is nice with lots to look at, service was prompt and helpful. Beer and drink selection has something for everyone. We started with chicken wings (some of the best I have had) and then also had the dates and meatloaf, both were great and well prepared. For entrees had the duck and the pork, again both prepared perfectly and everything on the plate worked together to make each bite delicious. Even the bathrooms are nice with the coolest all-in-one faucet/hand dryer...

My dad loves this place. The service was good. Why does every restaurant in Indiana have at least two TVs playing constantly? Not my jam but the drink selection was great and everyone really enjoyed the poutine. I liked my gnocchi a lot and the portion sizing was good. If I had to just give a one sentence review, then it would be "When you have the money, come to this restaurant for amazing food." My girlfriend and I were on our way back to Ohio, but stopped here as a last meal for our vacation. This place surprised us. A small but local and focused selection of beers and wine. Tailored dishes that seem to ensure every single thing on the plate goes together. Service that was impeccable, where even the waiter had a hand at perfecting our plates. The tone in the restaurant was also refined yet not formal. The best plate was easily the duck. I hesitated because of greasy, tasteless duck I had before, but this was great. One if the few places I would bet it would be hard to find something bad. If we're in the area again, we would totally go back.

The dessert was great and so were the drinks. The food was not very good and overpriced. The sauces did not blend well with the main part of the dish. The vegetables were somewhat fresh. The service was mediocre. There are plenty other of good places in downtown Indy to eat. If you really cannot find anything else, just want a drink or want to check out some live music, this might be an ok spot. If you are looking for some great food, this is not the place to go.

I hit 5 stars right after our visit and have come back to comment. Loved everything! Atmosphere, service, food, drinks - all top shelf! Just loved the Toast + Jam, so unique and outstanding flavor. Same for the King Salmon entree - rock shrimp, andouille sausage, roasted tomato risotto, asparagus, red chili beurre blanc - so delish! Topped it all off with a couple Rosey Cheeks. I believe our server was Garrett (sorry, bad memory...but I do know he has some cool ink on his arms) and he was super helpful with suggestions and made the whole experience awesome. Needless to say, when we're back in Indy we will be back!

Food and service was great! The only reason I can’t give 5 stars is due to the serving size:cost ratio. The serving sizes are quite small- even the ones they advertise as entrees, and are over priced accordingly. Also, we had the scallop and mussels chowder. The flavor was excellent, but there were a total of 4 mussels and 1 of the tiniest scallops I’ve ever had, for $11.

Very modern and trendy space. Great for a group gathering of smaller proportions. The food is unlike mainstream offering, which could be good or bad depending on how close to traditional eating you prefer to be. It is a tad bit on the pricey side for what you get, but hey, they need to pay for that awesome space somehow. Our group ordered a variety of foods and in my personal opinion, I preferred the Cake from Marsh that we brought in for our celebration over anything we ordered, but most people in the group said they liked the food.

This is a great restaurant that Indy offers beginning with the great ambiance. The menu has a large variety for anyone. We had a variety of food starting with a charcuterie board to pair with our bottle of wine, which was decent. The beet salad was delicious, tasty, and light. The fries were one of the better fries I’ve had (don’t forget the garlic aioli). For our entrees, we had the tuna, which was pretty tasty. Then the salmon was cooked to perfection and the plate provided delicious additional flavor with the sausage and shrimp. Our servers name was Adam I believe, which he did an exceptional job all night. The rest of the staff did great helping out too. Clearly a good team atmosphere! I’d highly recommend this restaurant for anyone in Indy!

I am here on business and someone recommended Union 50 to me. I couldn't have had a better experience. Service was great, and food was amazing. The atmosphere was very cool and they had a band starting at 10:30. I was dining alone, and a random semi drunk guy decided to come sit with me. As I travel frequently I didn't mind it, but a staff me never came up a few minutes after he sat and asked where we couldn't see if I was ok. Ended up here for a work event and given our large group they knocked it out of the park. Service was quick given there was 20 of us and the food was good. Went with the King Salmon which was a little more done than I would have liked it, but my fault for not specifying my desired "doneness". The shrimp and andouille risotto was solid as was the sauce on the salmon; decent beer selection too. Would absolutely come back if I was in town again.

Food is delish. Cocktails were fun. But nothing overly special about the place. My boyfriend and his fam just rave about Union 50. So they took me there, unfortunately I was the brat and called it mediocre. Price was a little high and I know it's craft food and some plates tapas to share. Okay the meatloaf was really tastey though! But I wasn't wow'd. We will be back for the live music nights, that looks fun!

This place is fairly average all around. I don't have any specific complaints, but I also don't have much praise either. The food is... Unique. I'd say it's unique almost to a fault, with a focus more on being different, than on being genuinely good. It seemed to be quality, but the weird combinations were... Eh. The servers were good, but the service was a little slow. Like I said... Very average. Everything wrong was balanced with something good. I wouldn't discourage anyone from going here, but I wouldn't call it a "must try".

I would consider this one of the best places to eat in Indianapolis. The food presentation and taste are amazing. If you are allergic to something they are very careful to not put it in your food and the chef will substiute components of the meal that still pair well with the main course. The waitress were also very friendly and came by the table to check on us multiple times. The lamb shank is arguably the best thing on the menu, but we also ordered the sable fish which was equally as incredible.

We came here for a work holiday dinner. The service was amazing...I wish I could remember his name to give him proper credit. Our food came out tasting amazing and our drinks never ran dry. Between each course they came and changed out the plates and silverware to keep us prepared for the next round of food. I'd definitely return!

Very upscale restaurant with a nice dark atmosphere and high end dishes. From the moment you walk into the beautiful entrance you know you are in for a treat. Nice large bar with well over 50 whiskeys to choose from ranging from $7-$50 or more. Good craft beer selection as well. A few "lounge" seating options near the bar as well. The menu seemed a bit limited, but I had no problem finding something I wanted to try. I tried the salmon and it was delicious. I definitely recommend giving this place a try for a fin romantic evening.

We were in town for a conference from Nashville so we are used to top notch food and unique restaurants ...amazing food and great patio at Union 50...Loved the gnocchi and shrimp toast (so so good!!) clearly a neighborhood favorite and people strolling by would see friends dining and say hello and folks coming in knew each other. Union 50 is one of the most swanky, vibrant spots in all of Indy! In my opinion, the bar itself is the coolest in town, hands down. Couple that with awesome food by one of Indy's premier restaurant groups (Cunningham), live music, and super-suave decor, you just can't go wrong! I love this place. It is the perfect place for a date. The lighting is just right, they have excellent cocktails and food, live music and good service. They have nice spaces for larger parties as well. We almost always make a stop in here when we're in town. Tonight we had the tuna crudo, salt & parsley fries, swordfish, and the kimchi meatloaf along with a Manhattan and a brute. Everything was delicious!

Food was excellent! Some confusion over what drinks were available at the bar. Seemed to be out of Chardonnay and mixers for Bloody Mary, yet a Bloody Mary appeared at the table. Waitstaff was slow, but very well informed about the menu, and made great recommendations. Tried overly hard with pleasantries and over pronunciation of menu items. Uncomfortable but not unbearable. Entrees arrived at the table with enough runners to serve the 7-top all at once. Very nicely done. Poutine was flavorful. Salmon was very well prepared. Risotto was fresh and creamy. Asparagus was vibrant green and still al dente. Felt that service wasn’t quite to par with the food on this particular visit but certainly will mark this place for a return visit!

Recently went due to circumstances beyond our control, our previous dinner reservations were ruined, last minute decision, had to grab something to eat before our 7:30pm show at the old national center. So we googled restaurants near me... the entrance was DARK and looked like an alley. I had the chicken my date had the King salmon, both were seasoned to perfection!!! The portions were perfect also! A high end food and service experience, without a very high and price. Don't get me wrong you cant go if you are broke but for the quality of the food you receive the price is very good. It is not a home cooked meal it is a talented chef showing you how food can be prepared. They also often have live music. It is a fantastic place to go have a drink and an snack while hearing some music. They have several different places in the restaurant for you to spend your time, depending on your mood. From a bar lounge area to a big group area and a nice outside spot with fire pit.

My most recent visit here was on New Year's Eve, and my group was very happy with the fast and helpful service even on such a busy night. The food was delicious- I would recommend ordering an appetizer because portions can be a little bit smaller than expected. They have a great drink selection including a large selection of whiskey. Definitely Uber here if you can because parking in this area can be tough on a weekend night. Great date night or special occasion spot!

From the walk in to the wait staff, to the food. We did not have to wait too long for our food but the wait was well worth it. The food is FANTASTIC*******!! Everyone in our party loved their meal - all 16 of us! I would recommend this place and would come back many times over.

Ask for Danny, he’s excellent. Food was exceptional and service was straight to the point. As a fellow wine enthusiast you couldn’t ask for more. Spend the extra money on the 60+ bottle of wine. Specifically the Muriel grand reserva Tempranillo. They have an excellent list by the bottle. The food was delicious, as we had the toast and jam, with salads. I had the Duck, Duck and my husband had the lamb shank. Both 10/10! If you love beets as much as I do; get the beet and arugula salad. All in all; we can’t wait to go back!

Great smart casual place usually dominated by mid 20s to mid 30s. You may see people who are older, but usually not younger. The drinks are good with a solid variety. The food is also great with the favorite here definitely being the poutine. Most Canadian visitors will understand, but for everyone else, give it a shot. I'd also recommend the bacon wrapped dates. You really can't go wrong at this place. Definitely go if you have a chance.

Fantastic food with amazing flavor!!! The Chilaquiles Poutine is one of my favorite items. It can easily feed two people for lunch or a midday snack. The Goat Cheese Stuffed Peppadew Peppers are so tasty and are a must at every visit. One of my visits here was for a birthday, we ordered just about everything on the board menu and a variety from the menu for dinner. With some creative sharing, everyone agreed that everything we ordered was totally worth it. Love the atmosphere, very industrial looking with low soft lighting and very relaxed seating. High tops, bench seat tables, table and chairs, low lounger chairs and traditional bar seating, there's a seat style for everyone! LoL

The staff there are super friendly and go out of their way to make sure your visit is the best. The food is delicious, I had the chicken and the Tomahawk Pork chop. If you have to get one...GET THE PORK CHOP! It is really freaking good. Heads up though I believe there are peanuts that are used! They also have some really tasty vegetarian food. So they have food no matter your preference. The only downside is the lack of parking.

Can't remember if I've written a Google review for this place, but I definitely gave them my highest endorsements on Yelp already. I love Union50, and it's one of my favorite restaurants in all of the Midwest. They just do it all well: bar food, booze (craft beer, great cocktails, impressive wine menus), and fancier options. I respect the fact that they are like Trader Joe's in the sense that they pride themselves in their drinks FIRST: "we area a hangout gastropub that serves food." To say they are a bar that serves food, though, is, of course, a huge understatement because the food is amazing. The duck confit is top-notch and ranges from "very good" to "top meat dishes of all time." Scallops, skate, lamb shank, mussels, and beef marrow are all excellent. We got a good (but not AMAZING) dessert this last trip (an uber- chocolate concoction), but dessert CAN be transcendental on a good day (lava cake, carrot cake, and others I've forgotten). Basically, at least one of your courses will blow your mind, and figuring out which one that will be is half the fun. Another plus? If you don't want a $50/-70person dinner, you can just come in, have great beer and duck fat fries and wings and spend as much as you would at cheaper places in the area!

Maybe a little bit more pricey then what I was expecting, but it is definitely one of the best restaurants in Indianapolis......as advertised. While the food and service we had while dining was good, I can only give 4 stars due to the hosts telling us there was a 2 hour wait- when obviously there were tables available. We were there on a Thursday evening and it was not busy at all. We went to the bar to get a drink- a Moscow mule, that was not served in the proper glass, and we used open table to get a reservation in 30 minutes- not 2 hours!

Popped into Union 50 after a show at the Old National Center. I loved the huge selection of whiskeys they had available (as well as most other kinds of spirits). There was a band playing and they were quite entertaining. We stood around their firepit for a while too. They had a cool patio area. I am sure that it probably has more furniture when it is not winter and cold outside.

As always the CRG team comes through. We started with the pastrami poutine which is phenomenal. It's not traditional poutine but it is delicious. We had multiple dinners. The tenderloin was cooked perfect. The shrimp and grits were delicious. The Arctic char was great. Mussels werena bit boring and bland. But for dessert the chocolate terrine is fantastic.

My wife and I went to Union 50 for our anniversary and it was a disappointment for the price that we paid. My steak was burnt on the outside but cooked medium on the inside. My wife's chicken was dry. The poutine was ok. The old fashioned tasted like bourbon and sugar water. It was ok. The server, Brandon, was great. The food just really lacked. Like I said, missed expectations, especially for an anniversary dinner.

Wow, what a nice place to dine. They have a fantastic off the wall menu. We ended up sharing four dishes that could have fed more. Started off with the mussels. They weren't the best I ever had, but the sauce was drinkable by the glass. Our two favorite dishes had to be the himachi crudo, which was similar to a white tail sushi, and the kimchi meatloaf. This wasn't typical meatloaf. It had a tang and spice to it that definitely set it aside from your momma's meatloaf. This is the type of place I could hang out and do some serious eating. The wait staff was impeccable as well.

If you're in Indianapolis, definitely stop by for a cocktail or dinner. I was extremely impressed. Their drinks menu feature eclectic cocktails that are already amazing, but if you want something different, you can customize your drinks like a speakeasy. They are amazing at it, comparable to New York if not better -- and at $10/drink!! (It would've cost $18 in NYC!) Onto the food. Their innovative dishes change seasonally, which means you gotta go back for new dishes! - GET: Duck fat (+rosemary) fries with 2 sauces: garlic-truffle aioli and beer cheese. I loooooved these fries & the aioli!!!!!!!!!!! Also had: - "Toast and Jam", shrimp toast with yuzu - really liked this... very interesting - Bone marrow - omggggg soooo goood!!! - Kimchi Meatloaf - it was kinda dry for me - Some fish with pork belly dashi - it was just ok There are also live bands and an extensive beer & wine list (on tap!), very large space and chill vibe.

Let me preface this with saying my idea of a “nice dinner out” is Texas Roadhouse or Red Lobster. I eat probably too much food, but it’s Indiana and that’s pretty normal. Union 50 was a lovely building, with a wonderful waitstaff, but my small town self was a little taken aback at the cost of my meal. I consoled myself with the idea, that typically when I spend close to that on a meal, I walk away so stuffed that I immediately go into a food coma. (My fat self consisers this a good thing) I spend $40 on a drink and a main entree. The food was a thoughtful and well prepared meal of roughly 6 oz of swordfish on top of artichokes and red peppers. To be honest, I left with a hurting wallet and still on the hungry side. My dinner companion is a picky eater and couldn’t find anything that wasn’t pushing her taste limits out of their comfort zone. But I think the problem wasn’t the restaurant, but that it was just not the kind of restaurant for a small town girl like me.
