Reviews of Tinker Street Restaurant

On a business trip to Indianapolis this is a restaurant we decided to visit based on its google rating of 4.7, we figured with the writing that high I had to be pretty good and it lived up to our expectations completely!
It was only one thing I didn’t like about this restaurant everything on the menu sounded delicious so trying to pick one of the dishes was very hard especially after waitress explain each dish in detail.
I had the Barramundi fish plate and it was cooked to perfection!!!

I attended with a friend. The experience was lovely. Happily, they accommodated my dairy restrictions. The server was the best. The food was plated prettily. Sadly, every dish but the dessert was just "okay" because they were over-salted. I have been there before and do not recall thinking that, so, hopefully it was just an off-night. But I took off a star because of it. As a side-note, was sorry to see they no longer offered a tasting menu. Not many places do that around here.

Our first time here on a Saturday, with 5:30 reservations I'd made that morning. I'd heard a lot of hype about this place and it was even better than we expected. The food was amazing. We had the fried brussel sprouts, which was a surprisingly large portion for us to split. Just enough blue cheese to make it interesting. I had the pork belly (not your typical fatty, weirdly crispy pork belly either), it was like a fat slab of bacon & it was delicious. Pan Asian style with a fried egg to make it creamy, very well balanced. My better half had the Shrimp & Grits, also delicious. A little sweeter than expected but a little heat balanced it out perfectly. The Honey Cake with mascerated berries was the perfect finish, sweet but refreshing. Our server (wish I'd gotten her name, blonde with great aviator glasses) was really fantastic...very at ease & conversational but professional when describing dishes, not like some rehearsed spiel. Also, it was nice to sit on their enclosed patio in early April but their heaters were cranked up so high that by rhe end of our meal, it was pretty uncomfortable. All in all, a fantastic visit and a must do if you're in the area.

My wife and I love this place service is great everyone is super attentive, our waiter was great (sorry don't remember his name). My wife had the barramundi, I had the pork belly, and we both shared the korean tacos and the miso broiled oysters (my wifes favorite) the price can be hefty but oh so worth every penny. The only small complaint I can come up with is there parking lot is small and tight if you're in a big vehicle but will definitely go again.

Service, staff, atmosphere, food and music were all excellent. The only thing I could say is that the brussel sprouts and kimchi seemed way salty for my taste but were way flavorful. Next time I will just try something else. I am pretty sodium sensitive.

We like to try out new restaurants whenever we travel for work. This one was a gem. We both enjoyed our food, drinks and the atmosphere. The (I assume) manager greeted us with a small champaign toast and I observed her going above and beyond to greet all of the guests and make sure things were going well at all of the tables. My gf options were very good!

I love coming to Tinker Street because of the buzzing atmosphere and great service. I would recommend the pork belly and chicken with caviar as they were the best dishes at our table.

Food was good, with some dishes being so good (carrot gnocchi was richly flavorful and texturally ethereal) they made it hard to be impressed or excited by the others (halibut was technically flawless with [almost-boringly] classic flavor choices). Desserts stole the show; strawberry ice cream with crystallized basil and fig ice cream were outstanding and the ricotta donuts are not to be missed. In other words, Tinker Street's return is a welcomed one!

We came here for an anniversary dinner and it was fantastic! We had the charcuterie board as an appetizer (with GF bread due to wife having Celiac Disease). It was wonderful! I added the duck confit because I’ve been eager to try this for a long time and few places offer the dish. It was delicious and our server informed it is sourced from a local, humane provider (doesn’t force-feed). Next I had the braised pork belly and my wife had the cauliflower steak (not pictured). She raved about the cauliflower and I really enjoyed the pork belly. For desert my wife had the ice cream flight (not pictured) and I had the ricotta donuts and it was probably the best desert I’ve had at a restaurant in all of Indianapolis. We had wine and even a complimentary glass for our anniversary.
Overall the atmosphere was very nice, the serve was fantastic, and the food was phenomenal. The price was hefty, but worth every penny. 10/10 would recommend and we will definitely be coming back in the future.

Went to Tinker Street for the first time. Would highly recommend. Loved the atmosphere especially with the outdoor seating on a nice, summer day. Staff was great. My friend and I shared an appetizer and I got an entree. Both very delicious with a lot of pescatarian options. Would recommend and definitely planning on going again!

Food is easily, I mean easily on the top 5 in Indianapolis and I been to most of the good restaurants here. If they do a renovation to bring this place up it could compete with some of the best restaurants around no problem

Absolutely Fabulous! Our server was incredible, the staff was so attentive and the food was AMAZING! Can't wait to go back!
Cansu Sener
Food was incredible!!! each dish we tried was combined with extremely tasty flavors. Besides the food, the service was phenomenal! we felt very welcomed and felt like you are a guest in one of your very hospitable friend’s home. Evan was an amazing server, his recommendations were on point and he tailored the food to our taste buds. We really enjoyed our time and we will definitely revisit
James Pascascio
Fantastic restaurant top to bottom. The service was amazing, shout-out to Eva. Everyone was welcoming and helpful. The food was phenomenal. The shrimp and grits are a signature dish for a reason. The cauliflower steak was great. We would not hesitate to return or tell anyone to visit. Can't wait to go back.

High quality contemporary American cuisine in a casual atmosphere. Locally sourced menu that changes seasonally. Nice wine list. Dishes presented elegantly and service is very attentive without being stuffy. Not inexpensive and portions are moderate. This is not Buca Di Beppo folks! Plan about 90 minutes for a leisurely dinner. Only adults 21 and over. Reserve well in advance if you want to dine between 6 and 8 pm. Enjoy!

We found Tinker Street last weekend on the way to OBX, NC from WI - we walked in based on online reviews and proximity to our BnB, and we were so thrilled with the whole experience! They fit us in on. Busy Saturday night, but we never felt rushed. Anna, Maddy, and Chloe took such great care of us (and the food was INCREDIBLE)! So, when we headed home, we gave then a call in hopes that they could fit us in again - and they did! Not only did they remember us, they were so welcoming and warm...it felt like coming home! We tried all new dishes (we did get the donuts both times, do NOT skip the donuts) and every bite was wonderful!
I cannot imagine going through Indianapolis in the future and not coming back to Tinker Street!

One of the best restaurants I have been to all year. Very tasty, diverse drink choices. I tried three of the appatizers, tasted three of the main dishes, and two of the desserts. Everything really delivered on the taste experience. I already want to go back!

Another Indy Gem!
What a great experience. From the select list of local cocktails to an exceptional menu which is served with almost flawless service and attention.
Even though we did not have a reservation, after a decent wait, we were seated with typical charming mid-western hospitality.
The Pork Belly was truly exceptional. But please don't get this is you are not into very bold, very rich, intense flavors. If you are into this, then this is executed to perfection.
This is definitely a cozy place with some tight quarters but well worth it.
Will definitely be going back to try other items on the menu.
Pantelis Galatoulas
Amazing. Mouth watering. Appetite satisfying. This was an absolute experience. I was so thoroughly please with the class and courtesy as well as friendliness of the staff. The entire meal was an experience and left my taste buds wanting more. The salad had me thrown back and completely loss for words. The flavors and textures blended wonderfully. The pork belly dish was prestinely cooked and properly finished with the right amount of heat and zing. This meal was one of the best meals I've had in quite a long time. Not only was the food amazing but the staff also was knowledgeable and quick. Hats off to the owner for this experience.

Had an AMAZING dinner here! Loved the touch of the Tinker Toast to start off the meal. Each dish we had was delicious — we were so sad we couldn’t try dessert, too (had to make a pick up at the airport). The service was great, the food was better, and the ambiance was spot on. Even though we were seated outside, it was covered, adequately heated, and they provided a fleece blanket. Will definitely come back here when I visit again!
Teo S
Great food, great customer service. I have couple of stuff I was not very happy with 1. The tables for two are way too close to other tables, could hear our neighbors conversations. 2. The arctic char meal had too much sweet sauce for my taste.
The Brussel sprouts were delicious, my favourite meal. We were served desert because our meals took long time to come(which was very nice gesture). The desert itself was not that amazing.
Brock Holst
Another great experience at Tinker Street! Brought friends in town from the east coast and they loved it as well. Tinker Street is our #1 place for a special occasion dinner.

This is a welcome restaurant to the Indianapolis area. My wife and I went here on a kids-at-grandmas-lets-go-somewhere-on-a-date night. It was a good experience. We went on a cold night, we were able to park in their lot, and were there early enough that we had no wait.
A couple notes:
- Kids are not allowed (I think 21 & over only).
- Parking on site, but you may need to street park anyway
- The patio is open year-round, but in the winter, the flaps are down and it is heated
- 16th Street use to be called "Tinker Street" - hence the name.
The food was beautifully prepared and tasted great - see my pictures for what we had. The restaurant is small and cozy, but still, I didn't feel cramped. It was a good date night.
My wife and I usually have wine with our meal, but this night we only wanted water. The waitress seemed very annoyed that we were not ordering wine. At first we thought maybe we were being overly sensitive, but after a while, we were certain that it seemed like a problem to her. This is the only reason for my 4 stars vs. 5. That aside, it was a very nice meal in a nice atmosphere.
Prasad Nair
We loved the ambience and the service of this restaurant. The Mushroom Bruschetta had very good flavour. The Broccoli Curry was mostly good. But a bit too much of ginger and garlic in it, which masked all the other wonderful flavors in the curry. We chose the S'mores and the Monkey Bread as our desserts. The s'mores were okay. But we loved the monkey bread. It almost tasted like churros. The maple ice cream complimented it well. But overall, a good place for a date night.

Knowledgeable staff, fantastic food, amazing atmosphere, and great wine list. Everyone was extremely helpful and their menu seems to reflect the season. We split the beef tartare for an appetizer and it was amazing, so were the brussel sprouts. I had the pork belly for a meal, and it was cooked PERFECTLY. Others had the shrimp and grits (which they said was phenomenal). I also recommend splitting a dessert.
Victor Singh
Amazing food. A little expensive but worth the extra money. Consistecy is their speciality. Their chicken, shrimp, pork - all dishes are delicious. Not kids friendly. Be prepare to wait if planing to go on weekend for dinner. That don't take reservations for less than 5 ppl.
Jay Belt
Fancy plating, good food, and a fantastic, knowledgeable staff make this place one of the best dining spots in Indy. Make a reservation, you won't be disappointed. We started the evening with good wines, and ended 3 courses later with full stomachs and good memories.
When I ordered my entree, the waitress was quick to point out how the dish would come out. I ended up changing my mind and going with the Wild Salmon after that. I'm so glad. The cook was perfect med-rare I asked for, the maux choux was so good it made me sad there was no bread on the plate to scoop it all up--I figured licking the plate would be too crass.
Will return when we come back to Indy.
Family Bassyouny
The service was so incredibly attentive and nice. Food was good, there was lots of parking. Would go again.
Michelle Dellene
This place is divine! Looking for creative high quality cocktails and a delectable dinner? Look no further because this is the place to be!
Crystal Herzog
By far one of the best meals and deserts I have ever eaten. This place is a must.
Brian Thoele
Such a great experience. We were celebrating a Birthday. The food, service and ambiance were all amazing! Highly recommend!
Abby VanDerHeyden
We love Tinker Street! We have been several times since their reopening in May 2021. The miso broiled oysters, pork belly and shrimp and grits our some of our most favorite dishes. Last night, the tomato tartine and squash blossoms knocked it out of the park. Service is always excellent - they greet you with a pour of sparkling wine and the servers are very knowledgeable about the menu. If you haven’t been to Tinker Street yet, what are you waiting for!?
Clarissa Herman
Phenomenal food; excellent service; upscale, unpretentious atmosphere; extensive wine selection and on-site sommelier. Try the pork belly and mushroom bruschetta! Vegan and vegetarian-friendly as well.

I’ve been here multiple times and it’s always a great experience. The food is ALWAYS amazing and the service is on point. Recently I went with a group for a friends birthday. It was a lovely experience. From the moment we walked in, the hostesses were welcoming, our waiter was friendly, informative and patient, and everyone’s food was delicious. The kitchen was also open to helping me with my special dietary needs.
Barrett McCormick
This was a spectacular dinner that we enjoyed from start to finish. Flavors were truly memorable. We started with a carrot tartare and a beet gazpacho, had pork belly and gnocchi for entrees and s'more pot de creme and sorbet trio for dessert. It was all top-of-the-line, but I most enjoyed the beet soup -- three rings each with different beets and distinct seasoning and the pot de creme which was a lot like marshmallows toasted on a campfire with chocolate only better. All of this in a friendly happy space. We'll go back as soon as may be.
Brian Newlin
Micah the host and Cory our server were out of this world, awesome. Amazing service and the food was equally amazing. Sit on the patio!
We had Sarah as our server this past time and she was Amazing!
Marc Imboden
Amazing food experience! Very few dining experiences in my life have compared with Tinker Street, so fortunate that such a creative restaurant is in Indy.
Ray
Charming neighborhood wine bar offering delicate culinary creations. Atmosphere is friendly and I do recommend saving room for desert!
Stuart Hair
A delicious, local focus chef-driven meal with eclectic New American menu. Had an innovative pasta with fresh peas for the first course and a flavorful pork belly for second. My new favorite Indy restaurant.
Kavan Reddy
They always start with some bubbly, which is nice. Great ambiance and management. Sad you can't make a reservation, they don't need it.
The wine selection is amazing. Big fan of the skate wing.
I've come here for ONLY the pot du creme before. It's quite possibly the best desert ever.
A. Nieman
We've eaten here several times and it's always outstanding. 10/10, our favorite restaurant in Indy.
Jake Cohen
Came here for dinner while visiting friends. Great wine selection and cocktails. We ended up sharing appetizers and entrees and all were delicious. Our friends recommended the chicken and caviar and I would too, it was so unique! Overall the service was very good and we would definitely come back.
Michele Zimmerman
Although initially our guests were sure they wouldn't find something they would like, due to so many vegetables and picky eaters, they were pleasantly surprised by even my appetizer of roasted carrots. So much flavor and texture. Interesting flavor combos and so many options for gluten-free and vegan (or dairy-free if you want to add meat). The food coming was slow but they were slammed and it was worth the wait. Our server was attentive. Good cocktails and wine, too. In- house Sommelier was a great bonus, as well! Will return.
Thadius Pitts
The food was absolutely delicious and the wait staff was incredible. I got the sirloin and my wife got the pumpkin ravioli and we both fell in love with our dish. Everyone was so friendly and attentive. We both left fully satisfied. I would highly recommend this place for a nice evening out with your partner or a group of friends.
Dan Nicholas
Outstanding is what I have to say. Service is excellent. Food is Michelin star for sure. Must go. Make reservations though. Smaller place and can fill up, especially on weekends. Best meal and meal experience we have had in a long time and we go out often.
Amy Stansfield Curtis
Creative and fun place. Great for a special occasion but is pricy. Paid $70 for 2 glasses of wine ($12 each) and 2 desserts. Very chic, and hipster. #LocalWithAmy

BEST Indy restaurant! GREAT Service, Great wine, Great food. Eat here.
Britni Gettinger
We sat at the bar and had such a pleasant experience. It was warm not sure how comfortable this place would be in truly summer weather. We split two appetizers (we couldn't make up our mind) then split an entree and both had enough to eat. Their menu changes regularly so rely on staff to guide you for suggestions. You went be disappointed! We will be back!
Tierney McGuire
Incredible. I usually don't like mushrooms, but I LOVED the dishes we got. Highly recommend.
Donna Mccloy
Food was really good. Are server Grace did a wonderful job. Only downside was the sommelier could have been a little nicer. I know she was busy. I asked if the red wine i ordered was chilled and a bit curt yes of course. Was not very outgoing.
Brent Saucerman
Fantastic. The food was perfectly cooked. We had shrimp and grits and halibut. Both were were properly prepared and delicious. Our appetizer and collard greens were also outstanding. The deserts and pastry we had were inventive and lectable. Service was excellent. This is despite the current labor market. The restaurant was well staffed, and this was one of the best meals we have had out in several years.
Scott Koeppel
We went here for dinner last night and it was amazing. The staff was extremely welcoming and attentive. Our server gave us an excellent wine recommendation after gauging our preferences. Everything we ordered from small plates to large plates to dessert, was delicious. We especially liked the carrot gnocchi, shrimp and grits, raw strawberry coriander mignonette oysters, and the donut dessert. We will definitely return next time we're in Indy so we can try their rotating menu.
Bianca Gogel
All I can say about this restaurant is it is a food experience. Each course will take your taste buds on a journey that will not disappoint. Cannot recommend enough
Nicholas Shannon
The standard of ingredients is simply high. The very limited scope of the menu makes each dish unique and just plain good. I recommend trying all of the things here but I was especially impressed with the shrimp and grits as well as the sirloin. The salad is great too, though maybe a little less fancy than the rest of the things. Deserts are also quite good. Try the doughnuts or the berries. All in all - worth every penny.
I can't really criticize the service. If anything it was a tad too attentive.
Cheers, and enjoy your meal.
Norma Lilia
Absolutely amazing food. I had the crab cakes for appetizer and goodness me they were just fantastic. The Shrimp n’ grits are probably the best I’ve had since that one time I had them in Oregon last year. For dessert, I had the velvet cake with Nutella ice cream, which was delicious but not necessarily out of this world. Overall, an excellent meal, I do plan to return 😋
Jenny “AC Asphalt” Stricklin
Good Lord! What an amazing restaurant! Even met David Letterman here at dinner!
Joy Hughes-White
My daughter and niece work here, I haven't had the pleasure of dining yet, but I have heard so many great things.
Natalie Wittmann
My mother and I dined here for her birthday. Everything was perfection! We had a sweet and knowledgeable server who helped us make great choice on the menu. The sparkling wine taster was a fun way to kick off the experience, and everything we had was delicious and perfectly balanced. We tried two specials (the fried squash blossoms and the beef cheeks) and they were excellent. The Brussels sprouts were excellent and not greasy like many other places. Loved the tomato tartine, and finishing with the ricotta doughnuts was just the icing on the cake. Couldn't have asked for anything better and we hope to return next time we are in Indy!
Heather Hodson
A truly unique & special dining experience including *excellent* service where your water glass will never be empty, where you'll receive complimentary champagne, solid menu recommendations, a cozy atmosphere, & entrees for every palate. Our party had a vegan member - there were options for her. There were also options for gluten free diners, dairy free diners, (& more) which are listed on the menu. Highlights of our meal included the *Purple Haze cocktail, the *Equinox cocktail, the *Mushroom Stroganoff entree, the *S'mores Bar dessert and the *Ricotta Donuts dessert. Espresso was also very nice after dinner & served with biscotti. Treat yourself to a meal at Tinker Street tucked away in an adorable section of downtown Indianapolis.
Ashlee Nemeth
Place is always busy. Service is on point. They just switched to their spring menu. The signature dishes of the shrimp and grits and the pork belly are a no brainer. They have a great wine list as well. It is a must to try.
Anna Lee
This amazing restaurant got my husband and I in last minute for my birthday dinner! Our waiter Jared was exceptional! I had the seasonal Tito’s with lemon and passion fruit shakeup for my first cocktail followed by the Flower Crown, their gin cocktail. Both refreshing and tasty!
The stuffed squash blossoms were superb for our starter. My husband had the pork belly main course, which was tender and full of complex delicious textures and flavors. I had the center cut sirloin, medium, which was cooked perfectly and so flavorful with a delicious sauce and yummy veggies to go with it. The ricotta doughnuts to finish were the perfect ending to a wonderful meal.
Thank you Tinker Street for a memorable birthday dinner celebration!
Kris Owens
Tinker Street was great! We were offered champagne as a thank you when we sat down, and the great service never ended. My wife had the center cut sirloin which she really enjoyed, and the halibut was cooked to perfection. We loved the flavors and our wine pairings. It is expensive, however, so know that going in.
Reservations are booked out for some time, so plan in advance. The atmosphere is casual and cozy where we sat on the patio. There is a very small seating area inside as well.
Denedra Miles
I love Tinkers place. It reminds me of a relaxing, romantic small town cityscape place, if you know what I mean. The food is very delicious. The menu changes time after time. The food choices are healthy and organic with a touch of love 💘 😋. You have to be 21 and older to get in. GO and have a drink 🍸 on me. …
Jen Calbert
My husband and I always try to splurge and try something new in our anniversary but this was a swing and a miss. The food was good but not something we would order again. Public Greens has better fried brussel sprouts and the gluten free pumpkin ravioli was a bowl of mush that needed something to challenge the one dimensional pumpkin flavor. I'm not a chef but I do enjoy good food regardless of the price and this was overpriced for what you got as a culinary experience. I don't usually write reviews and perhaps we just ordered the wrong thing but, meh. Kind of disappointed.
Michael Chumley
Great price for delicious food. I got the steak which was covered perfectly and paired incredibly well with the mashed sweet potatoes. My wife got the pork belly and said it was one of the best dishes she's ever eaten. Starting our meal with the raw oysters and brussel sprouts which was a great idea.
Drinks were a bit pricey but very good!
Trace Kemp
I love this restaurant. The atmosphere is wonderful and the food is even better. Fresh local ingredients that are in season and shrimp and grits is on point. I can’t lie I appreciate the service Maddie z provides and she works super hard to make people comfortable and do her job. I come here for her.
F Johnson
Good service, atmosphere and cocktails. Really liked the starters.
Krystal Thompson
Amazing food and service! We especially loved the raw oyster appetizer, pork belly entree, and monkey bread dessert. The mignonette on the oysters was perfectly balanced. The pork belly was crispy, slightly spicy, and full of umami flavor. The monkey bread was buttery and sweet with a cinnamon flavor. Our server was attentive and had several suggestions since it was our first time dining there.
The only dish we didn’t absolutely love was the chicken and caviar. The hoecake was a bit dry and could’ve used some more sauce. The caviar seemed like an afterthought and the flavor of it was overpowered by the fried chicken. That being said, the fried chicken itself was AMAZING. Crunchy on the outside, moist on the inside...one of the best pieces of fried chicken thighs I’ve had. We’ll definitely be returning!
Carlos Montero
Wondeful creative local fare. Really enjoyed the service and options. The smores pot de creme is to die for

This restaurant was recommended to us from the place we were staying at. It's nestled in a nice, cozy residential part of town. It had a lively atmosphere, but intimate. Both inside and outside seating. When you're seated they give you a nice taste of wine. The employees were wonderful and friendly. You'd barely drink out of your water glass and they were right there filling it back up. The food was excellent! Steak and potatoes were yummy. One of their specialty items, is shrimp & grits, which were delicious! Make sure you try it!
Whaler Ship
I asked for my steak to be well done and it came out medium well. I am disappointed with this since it has been a family tradition for the last 30 years to come here every February 9th but the food still hit the spot.
Michael Wogan
Interesting menu that was nicely put together. We had the soup of the day which was a really nice pepper gazpacho and a cheese plate to start. All went well with the wine that was recommended.
Entrees were very good. We had the pork belly and the carrot risotto (ask of a duck egg on it). The service was also great, very attentive but not overly intrusive.
My only complaint was that the venue is mostly outside and it was over 90 degrees even at 7 pm. I had hoped to be seated inside but I guess that's the bar area. They kept our waters filled and recommended refreshing dishes but it was so hot and stuffy on the semi enclosed patio. It would have been nice to hang out a little longer but after dessert we were ready to just cool down. I'd definitely go back in more temperate weather though.
Nathalia Londono
Amazing food and vibe. Get the pork belly and mushroom bruschetta, you won’t regret it!
Andrew & Megan Winters
Love this place. Service is always outstanding and the food is consistent and delicious. I love the fact that you can now make reservations. The wine list is reasonably priced compared to the lame, chain steakhouses in Indianapolis. A complimentary shot of sparkling wine before your meal is always a plus.
John Hays (FitDudeFood)
Very tasty food and enjoyable experience. I had a new menu item, the basil gnocchi. It tasted great, the sauce was really good and the meatballs were really flavorful. I just wish that the portions were larger for the price. It felt more like an appetizer.
Lewes Morgans
We had friends come to visit and they looked up places to eat and found Tinker. this is a cozy, busy, nice place to eat! Shrimp and Grits is a dish you must have. The menu does change but the appetizers - Oh! Gosh you will be so happy you came here to eat! Everything is good here! This is a great place to visit on any night!Tinker Street is a small Room with a larger porch area. The servers are very knowledgeable and the food is very very great. I had some amazing food and wonderful wine. The owner is very involved and oversees the room and makes contact with most of the tables as far as i could see.
Pollie Barden
Excellent place for a variety of fresh food. Delicious seasonal cocktails. The hamburger and pork belly are appropriately portioned and flavorful. Dishes are great for sharing so you can try many things. It is fairly small so make reservations. Wait staff is attentive and welcoming.
Dale Carlson
Celebrated our daughters birthday at Tinker Street. Small place with great ambience. Make a reservation because the place is busy. Staff is outstanding. Food is tremendous. We ending up with 4 dishes and shared. My favorite was the shrimp and grits and the trotter sirloin steak. Loved the chocolate xs cake. Highly recommend if you are looking for fine dining in a relaxed environment.
Mark Manning
Was not thoroughly impressed(would prob give a 3.8 if I could)..had the oysters and halibut. Didn't care for the dresses up oysters (on the half) with the house sauce - prefer a traditional "dressing" (vinaigrette, lemon, horseradish etc). Cook technique on the halibut was spot on, but was lacking seasoning. Farro was completely lacking in flavor (but again, cooked well).
Other places to explore around Indy with WAY more flavor (Vida for example).
Likely wouldn't come back, albeit, was not bad by any means.
Joshua Mcnorgan
Another fabulous meal here the other night. They never fail. The service was outstanding with good attention to water glass filling and timing of the food. It was a very cold winter night, but sitting out on the enclosed heated patio was comfortable and nice to have all the outdoor lighting. They played soft jazz in the background, just enough to be there, but not so intrusive as so many restaurants these days do with their music loud. We were able to chat without shouting, even though the place was full. The food was great as always.
Diane Diaz
Good food and very good wine! 😍
Kenneth Lee
Make your reservations and check this place out. Recommend 10/10. Great service, food and drink.
Jessica
It was love at first bite with Tinker Street. I first went with my husband a couple of months and had since been going for special occasions. I love this place. Not only do they have a great menu but plenty of vegan options, including vegan wine. The food is fantastic, but I also wanted to spend the time to write about the staff. They are lovely, thoughtful, and are professional. We drive an hour to this place, and I am here to proclaim that it is worth it. You will not be disappointed.
KT Berry
The food and service were 100% on point!

Shrimp and grits were delicious. The gnocchi paella was also amazing. Our starter was the Korean fried chicken and waffle. Yum! Good cocktails and wine.
Very friendly service. We sat at bar.

I held an event at Tinker Street last night. It was for my largest customer and a couple of members of our team. It was a custom tasting event that he set up for us, including wine pairings. Let me start by saying that they did an amazing job, and we could not have been happier with the results. We have no doubt that we were having the best meal in the city of Indianapolis that night, and probably the best meal in the Midwest! The 10 (yes t-e-n) courses were innovative, stunningly well presented, and delicious, and any one of them could have been photographed for the cover of a "foodie magazine". All in all, we were extremely pleased.
OK, a little bit on the restaurant itself. Tinker Street is a wonderful quirky little restaurant that is a few minutes from the center of downtown, and it does a bustling business. The menu is excellent, and the wine selection is amazing as well. Pricing is reasonable, but is not cheap. We highly recommend it if you like innovative non chain restaurants.

The food was just so, so in my opinion. Although the restaurant was packed full, the service was fast and friendly. So, great job there. I liked the idea behind the menu items but the mix of flavors was just not that good to me. The prices were definitely a bit high considering I did not really like anything that I ordered; except the wine. Sorry just begin honest!

The food was very good as was the service. I understand why so many have complained about the tight space, there were many moments where I couldn’t hear my husband or our friends. Butternut squash soup was mediocre, Beet tartine was phenomenal, crab cakes pretty good and center cut sirloin flavorful but very difficult to chew even at medium rare. I think if I would have experienced the food with less hype and slightly lower prices I would have been more impressed, but I do understand that the ingredients are higher quality and therefore more expensive. The Smokey flavor in the creme de pot was way too much for me, I felt like I was inhaling a campfire (I understand that is part of the point). The manager was very kind and willing to remove that item from our bill.
Overall, a good experience and will return for the next seasonal menu.
Darren Chittick
The food and the service can't be beat. What an incredible little spot! We hadn't been for a while, and couldn't be more pleased to have celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary here tonight.
Ronald Baker
The vegan/vegetarian options are flavorful. The food was tasty and the severs were attentive enough. This is a house that was converted into a restaurant and they pack almost 100 seats into a small area, with an enclosed patio containing atleast 60% of the seats. I do have to agree that the food is overpriced. I think they should lower their prices 25-30%, then I could see this being a restaurant that I would frequent more.

The fennel soup was a culinary epiphany, I was reborn. My husband and I enjoyed all of their dishes, their hospitality and the cocktails. Worth the money and the wait, would recommend for an excellent dining experience.

Wanted to take my lady somewhere special for her birthday, and boy was this place perfect. An amazing experience with even better food. Dinner started off with some Champagne, we got the charcuterie board (yum), then got the stroganoff and added the sirloin to it. It was so good I'm salivating about it as I write this review. I will be visiting again.

Beautiful location and great food. The waiters and waitresses are extremely helpful and their recommendations are spot on. The off-menu specials are worth trying too. A bit on the pricey side but completely worth it as the quality of the food makes up for it many times over. Note that seating will be limited on rainy days and during winter. Reservations recommended. The items off the dessert menu are definitely worth a try too.

Trendy, Predictable, and Bland. The service is above average here. They work hard to entice, present and follow up. The wine list is acceptable though the mark-up it three to four times retail on most selections. Too many tables are crammed into this small space... When my friend and I were originally seated near the service line, a waiter came inches away from her head with a stack of dirty bowls. We asked to be moved and were accommodated. The food was on the bland side. The mushroom soup is almost flavorless. I asked for the lamb medium as I just can't stomach bloody cold meat. It was served very rare anyway. The rest of the menu was predictably seasoned - lots of goat cheese and other flavors found on every other trendy menu in town. I truly had hoped for something savory and inventive. I hope they rethink charging for dinner bread as this is a perfect opportunity to show off the chef's currently used flavor palate creatively. All in all, I was disappointed. I'm sure I'll try the place again, but I'm not in a rush to do so.

Excellent atmosphere and small plates which make it easy to share with your guests. It’s pricey but you get what you pay for with quality food, great service and craft cocktails.

While I enjoyed the vibe, the creative menu, and the overall goal of the restaurant I have to say I was not thoroughly blown away in my experience here. My husband and I came during the summer time while they still had the patio and sat us at such an awkward table. We were less than a foot away from the couple sitting at a table right next to us, and I could hardly hear him while eating dinner. He was so far away and everyone else was super close, I didn't really know what to do at that point considering it was the only open table in the restaurant. The waiter seemed to be less than interested in serving us, and the food was a bit out of the price range we are comfortable with for date night. However, I want to give Tinker Street credit because it IS a trendy, locally owned restaurant that adds a very distinct flair to the neighborhood. Also, they since have removed it from the menu, but the Turmeric Olive Oil cake was PHENOMENAL. Overall, I wasn't that impressed. Maybe someday the owner can change the space to accommodate a more comfortable arrangement for the amount of people this place sees on the weekend, but until then, I'll pass on going back for more.
Jake Lazarus
Incredible good, fantastic wine, great staff. Miso oysters best I've ever had. Intimate atmosphere, not a huge place, so reservations are definitely necessary. One of the better spots in Indy for sure
Peter West
The service is excellent, really attentive and friendly. The wine list accommodates all tastes and is nicely varied. Food is well priced, authentic, well thought through and very well presented. The escargot is a unique interpretation of the French classic, delicious and the bread pudding is exquisite. Will certainly be returning.

Overpriced - service was slower and the area where we were seated was hot with quite a few friendly bugs (gnats/flies) flying around through the entire meal. Both appetizer (Korean chicken + waffles and the pork belly) were covered in an overpowering soy/sweet and sour sauce. Chicken on waffles was overcooked and a little tough. The potato chips that came with the burger were burned save a few. I am surprised by the number of high reviews given the price point and quality of food. The best part of the night was the company and free champagne shooter.

Funny story..
But before I get into the negative, let me just tell you, the food and drinks, were spectacular. Whole reason we came here, little did we know.. little did I know..
This place prefers to only service and or seat higher cliental. I'm no broke b$+#h but I came in the dressed comfortably, I proceeded to ask if they would seat 5 she immediately gave me a quick glance and told me they were full. I asked about other nights and another lady without looking said we are full for the rest of the week. FINE!
Came back 20 minutes later 9:30 p.m, but this time I came prepared. Went home got fresh, put nicer clothes on, fine watch, cologne, got in my nicer car. Pulled up close to the restaurant met with friends at the front and walked in. They immediately sat us.
Lamborghini is not only known for their world class supercar automobiles, but their service and acceptance from any walk of life. I walked in there once with basketball shorts a t-shirt and glasses. I mean I had shoes on too but the point is they treated me as if I was family. I left their knowing my investment was well spent and now Everytime I go in for service it truly is like, a slice of home..
Being as local as Tinker Street is, it should be accepting of everyone from every walk of life. No matter where they fall in the spectrum, food is meant to be shared amongst everyone. The food here is out of this world. It needs to be shared more. I remember when I had nothing to my name, but when I got myself 35 to 50 bucks in my pocket, guess what I got?
A delicious meal..

This place was a hidden gem. I started off with a glass of wine from an extensive list of reds, whites, and champagnes. But once seated, that is where the magic happened. We ordered the roasted Brussels and the oysters. Now, when I say the food was magical, almost spiritually, it was. I ordered the sweet potato gnocchi with I believe chicken and sage or rosemary meatballs. Did I mention the wine? THIS MEAL MADE ME BELIEVE IN GOD!!!!
Kita Atts
Wonderful wonderful wonderful. Don't let the crowd deter you. We have been seated right away or we have waited in the bar which can be very fun.
Meet the sommelier and tell her what kind of wine you like. She is not a snob, she is friendly and will point you to wine you would not have chosen that are fabulous. Everything I have tried here has been fabulous. I suggest you plan to share with the whole table so that you can all marvel at how wonderful the food is. Sit inside or out, this place is a can't miss.
We have been back many times. We were just there last Friday and the service and food were impeccable. Just cannot recommend this place enough.

This place was absolutely fabulous. My husband and I decided to visit Tinker Street for the first time on our first wedding anniversary. On arrival we were welcomed and seated at the community waiting table where we were promptly provided a drink menu. We spoke with several "regulars" at the restaurant and they only had positive things to say about the establishment. When our table was ready, the owner seated us out on the patio and we enjoyed a bubbly sample for dining with them. The owner was very engaged with his staff and with his customers by asking them their name and engaging in light conversation. My husband and I split a full salad as our appetizer, and both had delicious meals. The quality of food is great. On leaving Tinker Street the manager remembered our names and said goodnight to us and to enjoy the rest of our anniversary. We will be going back to Tinker Street again.

Perfect food... everything I tried was delicious, perfect service.... very kind staff... and everything I ordered came nearly immediately ... was a pleasure to be here...its not cheap but worth each dollar...
Nicole Tenerowicz
Food is always amazing. Last night we ended up waiting a bit for the small welcoming toast, and the host thought it was too long an brought my boyfriend and I each a full glass of the toast wine. Above and beyond. We didn't even notice the wait.
Brandy Jones
Great atmosphere, excellent food prepared perfectly. My favorite restaurant in Indy. Service is great, sommelier (super nice guy- very down to earth) serves the wine and offers suggestions for pairings on request. Bar only offers wine and beer so not for someone looking for more substantial cocktails.
JD Masur
Superb food prepared from scratch.
Had the gumbo with black rice and it was spectacular. My wife had the carrot and broccoli (Indian) curry and it was delicious. Also had miso oysters and Brussels sprouts appetizers, and a bottle of Barbera (which was a bit too chilled).

We visited Saturday the 20th with our out of state in-laws and were immediately welcomed with an incredibly warm, attentive, and knowledgeable staff. Chloe was our hostess and really set the stage for us having a lovely and memorable meal. The food was absolutely stunning, and every single member of the staff was gracious and helpful. I wish I could remember each I'd their names because they all deserve recognition. I've had great service in our city, but tonight was hands down one of the best I've had the opportunity to witness. Thank y'all for making our night; we look forward to visiting again soon.

Cool little place! We sat in what looked like the outdoor patio area, but it was enclosed nicely. It was surrounded by outdoor heaters and low standing indoor heaters. Each table had blankets on the back of the chairs which was a nice touch. We didn't really need the blanket because it was warm enough for us.
The menu was small, but interesting and informative. It listed all important facts about the food offerings i.e. nuts, dairy, vegan, etc. There was something for everyone; vegan (me), vegetarian, and gluten free options.
We got the mushroom bruschetta appetizer, which was excellent! The bread was still a little bit crunchy and the mushrooms with its sauce very delicious and flavorful!
My main entree was the squash taco. It was very tasty and surprisingly filling. My husband got the burger without the cheese and said it was very tasty as well. It came with ranch chips which were quite yummy. I got the housemade sorbet for dessert which topped off the meal nicely because it also was very good, not too sweet and very flavorful!
The only downside was that it was quite noisy.
Leslie Borders
We stumble across this place and was absolutely blown away from the excellent service, atmosphere and food that totally was amazing.. Martin was our waiter and he definitely knows his stuff. Thank you Martin and thank you cooks for your awesomeness!!!!!! If we are back in area we will Definitely return.... Happy birthday to my Sonny!!!

I love everything about tinker street! The service, the cocktails, the changing menu, the food itself, and the ambiance. They have an extensive selection of wines across all price ranges and even sell them by the case! Make sure you save room for dessert. Their doughnut holes are the best I’ve had!
Dorea Reeser
I was visiting Indy, and Tinker Street was recommended by a local. I am so so glad we went there. They have several vegan options, and I had the pad Thai. It was amazing! They also had vegan dessert, and a nice craft beer selection. Our server was also extra friendly and observant.
Bryn Foreman
Tinker Street is one of my favorite places to go for an upscale (but not uptight!) meal. The outdoor dining area is fabulous for fall evenings, and the menu is always being updated to feature fresh ingredients, presented creatively. Perhaps what I like most about Tinker is the wine menu - it really has something for everyone. I thought I didn't like white wine, until I had one paired with my meal at TS. Highly recommend.
Kyle McCarthy
Eclectic, imaginataive, great for vegetarians with big GF menu. Yummy radish starter...,
Kadie Yale
Absolutely love Tinker Street. We had an hour wait which was well worth it. The food was amazing and despite all four of us having very particular tastes, we were able to find drinks and appetizers we were pleased with, rather than having someone feel like they settled. Plus, the staff knows their stuff!
Note: we needed to show IDs at the hostess podium since it is 21+. Not a place for kids or minors.
The space is small; that isn’t a positive or a negative, just a characteristic (do with that info what you may...) They were able to accommodate a few groups of about 6-7, but it really is better for small groups.
I wish I could give it a 4.5 because it really is a great restaurant, but there were a couple of downsides that make it so I can’t comfortably give 5 out of 5:
1. There isn’t really a waiting space. During our hour wait, we shared a bar-height table with others waiting, but it’s not really an appropriate space. It seems like the neighborhood is evolving quickly and perhaps later there will be nearby places to visit during a wait, but for now it’s not super convenient.
2. Three out of four of our entrees were surprisingly spicy. The tuna has a bit of heat on the fish itself, but there’s a wasabi sauce that’s hard to avoid on the plate as well. The mussels were spicy as well. It would have been helpful to know or have it reiterated by the server.
Lauren Martinez
The actual interior of the restaurant is small, so my favorite place to sit is on their patio. It's closed off in colder months and open during warmer, making it perfect for people watching. Last time I went, my husband and I shared their cheese plate and a bottle of wine (but we each got our own dessert!). The cheese plate was perfection, and put together combinations That were unique but tasty
Edward Freeman
After a short wait sampling their great wines, my wife and were seated and treated well by our waiter and the owner, Peter George, himself. Great crab cakes and main courses of Tuna and Pork belly. Had small issue with order and they immediately corrected to my satisfaction. Finished with S'mores dessert. Will dine there and will definitely recommend to others. Thanks Tinker Street for the excellent night.

If I could give Tinker St a higher rating than 5 stars, I would. We have been enjoying this fine establishment since it opened, and have always had a fantastic meal on every visit. Last night, though... Just WOW!!!! We were celebrating a birthday, and boy did we celebrate! We started off with an exceptionally well priced bottle of delicious bubbly, and ordered our 3 appetizers. There were four of us, and we like to sample and share. We started off with the citrus salad, beet tartine, and brussels sprouts. The salad was a refreshing palate cleanser for the other apps. The beet tartine was delectable due to the sweetness of the beets and the creamy goat cheese and light bacon garnish. Just perfect. I might be using that word a little too much in this review, but it was warranted. The brussels sprout dish affected me so much I am still thinking about it almost 24 hours later. I love sprouts a lot, but often when dining out these days they are covered in a sticky, salty, overly sweet preparation. These sprouts were fried to a consistent texture, with bleu cheese, onion, and the tang of lemon, sprinkled with hazelnuts. The effect was like a savory dessert. It wasn't sweet, but the flavors mixed together was like no other dish I have ever tasted. Hands down, my most favorite brussel sprout dish ever. Order this. I'm serious. OK, next the vegan broccoli soup, which was also- pure perfection. You would have never known this soup was vegan, due to its creaminess and balanced flavors. Not too thin or thick- but broccoli with a bit of tofu puree and deliciously seasoned. Our friends got the shrimp and grits, (always a fave part of a Tinker St dinner), and the Great Lakes Walleye with lentils. The fish was cooked perfectly. Moist inside with a crispy outside, and luscious lentils alongside. My better half and I shared the mushroom stroganoff. The mushrooms were flavorful, with a nice soft chew, and the pasta was al dente- so it was a pleasure to enjoy and did not last long on the plate. The four of us ate every single bite of every dish on the table........ we were so happy. Honestly, one of the best meals ever. But we weren't done! Then came the birthday desserts.... We got the banana pudding, the ricotta doughnuts, and the red velvet brownie. All three were excellent, and all unique. The ricotta doughnuts were refreshingly different, the banana pudding, a lovely taste of comforting goodness, and the red velvet brownie was elegant with cream and raspberries. We did not lick the plates clean, but we came really close. Tinker St just keeps getting better and better. Of course, our service was just as great as always. Not intrusive, and when you ask a question, you get real information. Love that too. This is the place for a perfect celebratory dinner meal, but it's also a great place to break bread with friends, or impress a date with your good taste. Tom Main has taken Tinker St to "such great heights'. We couldn't love it more. No photos because we had no patience to wait for the first bite, and once we started.... we couldn't stop. No kidding.

Tried this place for the Devour Indy. Nice little restaurant nestle in a residential area on busy 16th street. Must be over 21 to enter. Huge selections of wines. Extensive drink list. Lots of choices for dinner, vegan and gluten free options. Special menus for common allergies. Ordered the 3 course Devour special: mushroom bruschetta, Pork belly, and smores. Everything was perfect. No wait, servers were on point with everything. We will return.
Samuel Capouch
This place is wonderful. The waitstaff is shockingly attentive. I'm a thirsty guy who drinks a lot of water, and every time I finished my drink within 30 seconds it was full again. The staff is very helpful and knowledgable about all the things that are offered on the menu and can help you find something that you will like. I typically don't like to speak in hyperbole but the burger I had was without a doubt the best burger I've ever had in my life. As someone who usually passes on a dessert menu I'm glad I didn't here. For two people who have one adult beverage each, an entree, and one desert each, your bill will probably come to around 75$. For the service provided and the food, I'd say it's a deal. Looking forward to coming back here again.
Oliver Worthington
I was here for Devour Indy and took advantage of the prix fixe menu. I started with a delicious tomato and watermelon gazpacho garnished with Israeli couscous. So delicious! Next I had the shrimp and grits. The sauce was appropriately spicy and balanced with cool pickled green tomato chunks. The grits had a light, fluffy consistency. Perfect. Finished off with (or by) a chocolate pot de creme. So dense and rich, but the dessert wine balanced it. Such a great evening sitting at the bar with Amber pouring wine!
david howard
First time in Indy and ate here expecting the same consistency and got it! We were a group of 10 and they gave us a private room with great service. Food is always simply amazing, desert is not to be missed. Pleasant meal and visit!
Bradley Reese
Your range of well curated wine coupled with well thought out interesting food. Great for a date, but the menu is perfect for enjoying the ancient art of dining by oneself. In short, if you don't like food and wine you'll be bored, but then again if you don't like food and wine, you might just be the boring one.
prem krishna
The experience is really good. The service was one of the best. Food was also very good. Ambience is awesome. Apparently Andrew luck likes to visit. So if you're lucky, you might get to meet him. Dessert was very good as well. Good drinks menu.
Highly recommend.
Ermin Keatley
WOW, WOW, Tinker Street 1st night of reopening with carry out only. I got the Pork Belly. Best Pork Belly i have ever had. It surpassed my expectations in flavor, taste, and satisfying my big belly. So glad Tinker Street is reopening, even if it is a quick and easy drive thru. thanks
Carlos Colón
As always, very good. The best was the ice cream flight we had as dessert. Blueberry, basil and tomato with bacon ice cream. AWESOME!
Cyril Wolbert
This place is amazing! Great service and terrific food. I could not wait to have the next bite.
David Frederick
Had a great meal. Beet tartar, then pork belly w/ kimchi red cabbage. DON'T MISS the ricotta doughnuts for dessert.
Derek Lasini
We were visiting from Chicago for an evening and chose this restaurant based on good reviews. We expected it to be good, but we were absolutely blown away. The host and wait staff were extremely courteous, knowledgeable and fast. The atmosphere is very pleasing and bright, but still cozy. The food... The food was what really blew us away. I had the pork loin and it was cooked, seasoned, and plated absolutely perfectly. My girlfriend had the butternut squash salad and it, too, was perfect. The deserts were out of this world (s'more specifically). As were the small plates (brussel sprouts, specifically). Portion sizes were perfect too. Not too big and not too small. The wine list was also very thorough and appears to change fairly often. The prices were very, very reasonable considering the caliber of the food.
We would rate this just a slight step below Michelin star rated restaurants such as Alinea and Next, it was that good. I wish I had taken pictures but the experience was so good, I didn't even think to take my phone out.
Nicole Dunn
So many delicious and seasonal vegetarian options. Inventive cocktails and nice wine list. Excellent service. We will be back.
Faith J. Joyner
The food is pretty amazing here and the service is always top notch. A friend recommended this place and glad they did.
Sherri Wood Emmons
Holy smokes, this place is good! Food is fresh, tasty and served in inventive ways. Servers are friendly and helpful. Amazing wine list, plus fun cocktails. Love it!
Gayle Keck
Excellent food and service, from the welcome shot of sparkling wine, down to the heavenly desserts. We really enjoyed the preparations, platings and use of seasonal and local ingredients, including heirloom tomatoes, sweet corn and pawpaw. Service was excellent. Choice of indoor or covered outdoor seating.
Yvette Tran
I'm a grad student, so eating out is a luxury. Decided to try Tinker Street during Devour Indy week as it is only 1 mile from my studio. The location is very *cozy*. It's a 21+ establishment, and all patrons are served Valdo Numero 1 extra dry prosecco upon being seated. I ordered the mushroom Bruschetta as an appetizer and the Sakura Pork Belly for my entree. For drinks I tried the seasonal mixer, which was vodka-based (Tito's). I finished off my meal with ricotta doughnuts, espresso ice cream, and espresso. The food and drinks are sublime; you can tell that the chefs and bartenders put a lot of thought in all that they do. This is my new favorite special occasion/treat yo' self spot.
Cami Krech
Food was great, service was better. The pork belly was pretty salty though, but the duck eggs help calm that. I know the s'mores is their signature, but the ganache leaves a lot to be desired. The ash and marshmallow are outstanding though.
Brittany Crider
Very nice wine and food menu. Excellent knowledgeable staff. Only down side was the tight space and how many people were in there at once. It felt crowded as it was but literally only enough space to walk around table area is if you walked sideways. Definitely worth checking out especially if you are a foodie and wine expert!
April Dombrow
Food was great. Wine selection was decent. Thankfully they have a staffed sommelier. Enjoyed the outdoor feel with protection from the weather. I always worry about being too cold during dinner but it was perfectly controlled temps.
Austin Allen
If you don't mind $20-$40 entrees, you can't do better than Tinker Street. Phenomenal food, cozy atmosphere, with an attentive staff and impressive wine list. The sommelier was friendly and helpful, and consistently recommended reasonably-priced wines.
Nicholas Leedy
This place is a religious experience! Best food I think I've ever had. The only problem is that I order way more food than I should probably eat in one sitting (but it all just tastes so, so good). Very happy to see they take reservations now! :)
Jamie MacDougall
Big city prices, but you get what you pay for. An adventurous food menu and some truly spectacular wines. They have done their homework in all aspects, and it shows, right down to the name (16th Street used to be called Tinker Street...who knew?!). Possibly the best wine bar in town. If you have a rich uncle or something that will pick up the bill, I highly recommend!
someonesmamma
Wow! What a great place! Great people, refined food and amazing service! We will go back when we are in Indy again.
Lou Quinto
Unique variety of dishes with lots of unique flavors. Service was attentive and helpful. Nice selection of wines. Great restaurant for date nights or getting together with good friends at a place that is off the usual thoroughfare. Buon Appetite!
amanda harris
Oh Tinker Street, oh Tinker Street...sorry, we ate our Christmas dinner here and I'm in the holiday mood. Holy moly is this place amazing. This was our second trip and it was just as amazing as the first. It's the details folks...and they've got it down. I think my husband and I were silent throughout our whole main course just in our own taste worlds. This is our "special occasion" place, but this is not over priced in the least when you realize the quality of food you're having. Do yourself a favor and come eat and drink here, now!
Matthew (Matt B)
Where do I start? When you first walk up to this place you may be a bit surprised by the size of the building but Tinker Street will make a BIG impression!
Suggestion: Trust the bartender and waiters or waitresses they know their stuff!
I had the clams and shrimp and I was highly impressed by the flavor packed into this bowl. It was so good in a sense it moved away from savory to being more like dessert...lol!
Enjoy!
Lori
One of my favorites. They always have something exciting.
Christopher Fox
Tinker Street is a true culinary gem in Indy. My wife an I came here for our most recent date night and have been once before, and both times we left simply delighted by the experience. The restaurant is cozy, so the dining experience is superbly intimate. The staff is easily the most attentive I've ever experienced. The food is out of this world, managing to take comfortable and familiar dishes like shrimp and grits, or tater tots, and transform them into first class dining. Speaking of which, I would highly recommend the tater tots with caviar. My wife enjoyed the Arctic char, which was cooked perfectly, while I had the saffron gnocchi paella. For dessert, we shared the decadent ricotta doughnuts and a lemon bar which is now my favorite dessert dish of any restaurant. And don't forget to order a drink - I recommend a sazerac before dinner and a glass of madeira with dessert!
Lalita Amos
Delicious but unwelcoming. Your party needs to arrive at the same time. No "I'll order for my friend who is parking the car." We had a reservation for 8 but 2 were iffy. I was nervous as a cat that we wouldn't be seated. Felt like we were intruders at their establishment.
To be fair the food was very good.
I won't be back.
Molly Carr
Tinker Street is by far our favorite restaurant in Indianapolis! We have celebrated so many special moments in our lives here and can always count on them for incredible food, a fabulous ambiance, delicious wines, and the most welcoming hospitality. We love you guys!
Richard Gibson
Extremely fine neighborhood place. Show up early and sit right down. The later, the longer you'll wait. Mushroom lasagna outstanding ditto the shrimp&grits. Have coffee, even if It's decaf. My wife is a cream aficionado, and she's never had better
Patrick Poyser
Tinker is my favorite spot in Indianapolis. Peter and Thomas have done an outstanding job putting together a staff, menu and wine list that hit every mark!
You're even greeted with a little glass of sparkling wine to refresh the palate as you review the menu.
I highly suggest surrendering control of your meal to the chef and enjoy the parade of happiness that comes to your table.
Renee Korb
This was my 5th visit to Tinker Street. This visit was a little disappointing. the food was good but my expectations for them is spectacular and they fell short on 2 of the 4 dishes ordered. The tomatoes with fried pickle and blue cheese was bland. The cherry tomatoes were tart, the larger ones spectacular but no taste what so ever of any blue cheese and the fried pickles tasted like cornbread and nothing more. Of the 2 main dishes we ordered the past was hands down a winner, as they usually are with pasta. The other dish was Gulf Shrimp with grits and a Sriracha cream sauce, a very bland dish all in all with some great potential. I brought it home to take to the office, a real splash of sriracha and some salt may bring the dish around. One last thing, the server was not very sound on wine. After hearing and seeing the disappointment in my client after the servers suggestions, I asked if we could forget the request for a sweet wine and look for a fruit forward wine. After which we found at least 2 suitable options. I know we are in Indiana where beer rules but if you offer wine train your staff. I will return in search of yet another fabulous meal I once had, they just fell a little short this time.
Peter Kidd
My friend and I enjoyed our dinner, and I don't like to find fault, bit it was rather "fussy": the specials were described to us at great length instead of just written on a blackboard or handed to us on a sheet of paper. It all has to be such a performance, instead of being done in a simple way, doesn't it? We had a more relaxed/enjoyable/unpretentious dinner the following evening at the Shoefly, about 10 minutes' walk to the north.
gregory Simoneau
We had a wonderful night. Great food and service. Outside downtown...so worth it!
Olaf Blase
Tried the Chanterrelle tasting menu. Chef Braedon and the staff knocked it out of the park. Simply put, AMAZING!! Oh yeah, we also had the heirloom tomato salad as well as the always formidable and mouth watering pork belly. Well done Tinker street, well done!!
Robert B
Hip, eclectic, punctual, and possessing dishes that stood out on their own, yet when combined became an outstanding meal served by staff who are optimistic and sincere. It was a great dining experience, and I look forward to returning!!
Hernan blas
I had the sirloin. It was good but not the best in the city, especially at that price. Servers were friendly and the atmosphere was lovely! Fiance and I expected more
Casey Dwyer
Tinker Street is a recent addition to the area, serving great food in a laid-back setting. Very unique menu, with a wide array of wines and a good selection of vegan, vegetarian and (most importantly) meat-based plates. The restaurant takes the "small plate" approach, so it's best to go with a group (or at least one other person) and split/sample different items, placing your orders on a rolling basis. Plenty of great dishes to choose from!
The hummus, ruby grapefruit salad and sirloin were all great, and I've heard good things about the albacore tuna as well. The "Pot de Crème S’More" was a great way to wrap up dinner.
Service was phenomenal. Our servers were all cheery and took great care of diners. Fortunately, Tinker is only a few blocks from home; we'll be back soon!
Angela Spillane
Wait staff was very attentive and the food was amazing! Definitely a highlight of our trip to Indy and would recommend to anyone. The wild shrimp dish was the favorite of the night along with the s'more pot de creme

Superb. The food isn't quite fine dining, but it is delicious -- and it's the first prixe fixe meal I've had that left me stuffed to the gills. The first prixe fixe place that left me feeling that maybe the servings were too large. The yuppies that crowd it belie the restaurant's (surprising) unpretentiousness. You should check it out.

Tinker Street has consistently fantastic food with unique flavor combinations that keep everything fresh and exciting. They blow Blue Beard out of the water for flavor and price. I’d put them in the same value range as if Milktooth served dinner, but with options likely to please more traditional eaters in addition to us adventurous folks. This is currently my favorite dinner spot in town, more than holding its own against pricier establishments.
Jason DeHaven
Tinker street is always extraordinary. The layers of flavor, creativity and reliably excellent service make it well worth the price.
John Suhayda
We were passing through Indy and looked for a restaurant with good reviews and decided to try TInker Street. Now we wish we lived closer so we could return sooner. We started with the Strawberries and Local Greens salad and we were off to a very good start. Then we had the Rainbow Trout with white beans, peas, and artichoke and it was perfectly seasoned and cooked. We finished with the S'more Pot de Creme and it was ridiculously rich and delicious. Our server Jordan was very friendly and helpful. The next time we are in town we will visit again!
Kathy Nguyen
Food was well made but EXTREMELY SALTY. We had the steak and scallops dishes and they started to make our mouths hurt at some point from the saltiness. Otherwise a delightful experience but pricy!!
Emma Williamson
I've always thought that Peterson's & Oakley's Bistro were the 2 best restaurants in the Indianapolis area. This sentiment was held until my fiancé & I went to Tinker Street in early May. The aforementioned restaurants have a true contender for the best of the best in Indy! Moreover, my fiancé & I got appetizers, entrees, desserts, & Kim got 2 cocktails & our bill, after tip, was something like $75. Very reasonable! We will be back.
Kevin Hinton
Awesome restaurant just outside of downtown Indy. They have a great diverse menu. I came with a group and we all shared a variety of dishes and everything was fantastic. I’ll certainly be back next time I’m in Indy!
Eric Morrow
Quaint restaurant with an intimate atmosphere. Perfect for date night or small gatherings. Our server was knowledgeable and had great recommendations for pairing wine. 10/10 will visit again.
Michelle Sweeny
Hoping to have a nice dinner with my daughter, only to find this is an adults only restaurant. So. I can't give a review of the food because we didn't get past the door. Disappointed. The menu looked yummy!
Kristin Chester
After visiting the area on business this place was highly recommended by a well-cultured client who lived in the same neighborhood. I was completely shocked and impressed, he'd said it was great and we needed to try it before leaving, but Tinker Street far exceeded our already high standards! They had added a tented side partition to the already tiny restaurant, and after getting seated there I worried I would be too cold, but the heat was comfortably well-done and all the elegant ladies wearing skirts or dresses were given nice cover ups to keep warm. Having lived in the state IN almost 5 years now (after growing up eating in Chicago and a variety of other places around the world), you learn being constantly disappointed by the restaurant and bar scene is nothing new, so just imagine how shocked I was feeling like I'd walked into a memory of an exclusive little neighborhood restaurant in Bucktown, Chicago or one of the completely upscale, but very tiny, charming restaurants in Key West, FL. The food was exquisite, though adequately priced as such also telling us the owner must really understand the laws of supply and demand! Tinker Street will keep you wanting more everytime you're nearby!!!
Damicca Johnson
Our server was horrible. We had to have someone go to find her to take our dinner order. Second time going within 3 years, two different servers but same experience, may try them 1 last time just because they are local. Food was good though. So conflicted between 3 and more stars.
Jennifer Baron
We don't go out to eat often as my wife is a great cook. But we heard so many great things about Tinker Street that we had to give it a try. We were both wearing flip-flops or the whole experience would've knocked our socks off! We were greeted by Peter who shook our hands and genuinely welcomed us. That's never happened to me at any restaurant. Then a lovely woman greeted us at our table and gave us a complimentary glass of prosecco. Who does that?! Tinker Street does! Our server Allison was fantastic from start to finish and then there's the food. OMG! We ordered a total of 6 items and each one was so amazing. The combo of flavors, textures and portion size were all perfect. We cannot wait to go back and plan to eventually try everything on the menu. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the wine selection! One word, awesome! Do your tastebuds a favor and go to Tinker Street!
Jessica Eichhorst
Delicious food but kinda pricey. Small portions and not much seating. Still, very tasty and interesting selections! If you don't mind the price it's worth it.
Drew Kincius
My girlfriend, her father, and I all had dinner last Friday, and it was wonderful. We had to wait for 60 minutes for a table, but the staff were very attentive and made sure beer kept flowing our direction - only four choices, but all quality, local selections. Our starter - brussels sprouts, mixed with almonds and dijon vinaigrette - was crunchy, spicy, and delicious. For the main course, we split the General Tso's broccoli, diver scallops, and the pork belly. Each dish was rich, filling, and full of flavor. Dessert, always a mandatory choice, included the s'more pot de creme, persimmon pudding, and brioche bread pudding. All fantastic, with the pot de creme as the winner. I hate to say that the toasted marshmallow on top was just as good as the chocolate, but it's true. The bartenders who waited on us were funny, charismatic, and attentive. We will be coming back often - 5 stars across the board.
Chelsea Lamm
Just ate here for my fifth time and I can say the best strategy is to split the cheese/charcuterie board for an appetizer, always get the special for an entree and end with the pot de creme or fruit tart. Also, their scallops are always perfectly seared and worth every penny when they have them.
Hans Schonberger
My boyfriend and my favorite restaurant in Indy, and it's conveniently located down the street.
The fact that they start your meal with a complimentary taste of bubbly to toast to your meal is reason alone to give them five stars. But they don't stop there.
Their menu rotates frequently, so I've never tried the same thing twice, and I've absolutely loved every I've ordered. My favorite has been the corn on the cob trio they served this summer, wrapped in popcorn crumbs with an aioli drizzle over each cob. Oh, please, take me back to that meal. Most recently I ordered off their devour Indianapolis menu. I started with Brussel sprouts that came with a side of grainy bread, moved on to the ramen and ended with their signature smore pot de creme dessert. Outstanding from start to finish. My boyfriend ordered the duckling and the bread appetizer, and that rivaled their pork belly entree in terms of his favorites.

Delicious and unique menu! Beautiful, cozy atmosphere! Ask for the sommelier, Kyle Pate! He will expertly pair your taste, your food, and your budget with the perfect wine!
Joby P. Norris
A quaint little gem that is exceptional on all aspects from service, wine and food. It can get very cozy inside since it is a very small space and some tables are literally inches apart, but it creates a very social atmosphere which adds to the experience. An absolute must try...
Barry Bentley
Wonderful food and beverages. Very impressed with staff. Not so much with the venue as we were quite cramped at our table for two. Otherwise this is a great choice for anyone
Grant Hewitt
I enjoyed it, my wife loved it... You have to be prepared for small plates, but that doesn't mean a small price. I would say it is a must go if you are visiting! It is not downtown and is very much a locals place. So take a moment and go...
ST
Service was good. Food was special.
Joyce Carter
Small menu which I love, excellent food, excellent choices and Rico knows every dish and explains in delicious detail. Trisha and Bethany, hostesses, are welcoming and friendly and love their job! I'm going back tomorrow.
Samuel Frost4
Angel, our assistant server, was very authentic and nice. She definitely made the experience great.
Ezra Einhorn
The menu is filled with wildly experimental flavor combinations that rotate every two weeks or so. It was interesting and not too overpriced for what it was, but the basic quality and build of the menu should have been higher for the price and service.
Ari Lehnen
Delicious, innovative and the service was out of this world good! Great location for small groups and dates too. The wine choices were fabulous!
Matthew Baker
It was a wonderful dinning environment, the menus has changed a bit but still managed to have a plate be flavor and delicious. Love the espresso ice cream.
M. Bally Singh
Ahhhhhh G...yummy and nurturing. Great family dinner. Will be going back again!!
Great choice by my son to take there for dinner.

Great food and exceptional service. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone. A note the General Tso's Brocolli is phenomenal and so is the steak trotter. And don't forget desert the Smores Pot was to die for.

The most amazing place in Indy! Tinker is an absolute gem. Great staff, great food, great vibe. I couldn't be happier with my experience!
Andy Howard (ahow628)
The food is incredible but the the best thing about Tinker Street is that they will order you cases of wine at wholesale with no mark up. They just love wine and want everyone to know that joy. Thanks Tinker Street.
Sandra Ndichu
Loved the small intimate setting. They have a very well curated menu. Looking forward to visit again when it's warmer.
Eric Redman
