One of my favorite places to eat in Oahu! No frills surf shack style place with delicious food. Their fish tacos are amazing and the plate meals have generous portions at a decent price. Super fast service with very friendly staff. Enjoy!

My goodness, this place is underrated, especially the garlic aioli!! The BEST I’ve ever tasted! Wish I could bottle it up and bring it home! Garlic fries were amazing as well! Hamburger were cooked perfectly and juicy. Definitely would recommend this place for some good food!

Fish taco tastes average, could use more seasoning as it is pretty bland. Good side is that the fish is not dry. Slaw is pretty good but pretty disappointed that a large slaw is only 1/2 a container full. Two fish taco’s portion is generous. Worth a try.

Our first time in Oahu so we tried a lot of restaurants but this one just blew us away with its authenticity and taste! The tacos, mac salad, and even regular salad are to die for. Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu to be honest. A must if you are in the area

Convenient and delicious place to get takeout. Love the fish tacos and fish burrito. It’s not authentic Mexican but it’s Hawaiian fusion style (has coleslaw) which I like! I also have gotten the veggie burrito which is pesto based (cheaper than the fish burrito but still tasty).

Partner and I stayed in Waikiki for a week and came here twice cause of how good it was! Both times we had it after walking Diamondhead and it was what we needed. The tuna Mac and slaw are super fresh and delicious. I got the Oho salad and plate and both were delicious. Partner loved the tacos. Prices are very reasonable as well. Staff friendly!

I asked the friendly guy what was a typical Hawaiian item on their menu and he said hamburger steak, so I ordered that. It was pretty good especially the fried onions. The hamburger patty was beautifully cooked. For me, a little more coleslaw would have been great but all in all it was a pleasant lunch.

Excellent casual place for tacos near Waikiki and Diamondhead. Especially the Ono fish tacos. Super casual, order at counter. Both visits were worth the walk from hotel. Just don't expect anything fancy.

Wonderful local grind. Went there 3 times during my stay on Oahu. I had the Mauka Makai (surf and turf) - I chose Ono and Kal-Bi steak. The main comes with rice, slaw and tuna-mac. It is filling and very delicious. Would come back here every time!

Extremely good feed to go to after you have summited Diamond Head. Cajun tacos were delicious as well as the poutine. We’ll worth stopping by if you have are a tourist and renting a car as it’s not too far from Waikiki Beach and near Diamond Head.

DOESNT GET BETTER THAN THIS! Taco Tuesday…$7.50 for 2 tacos—best price I’ve seen on the island! I really hope they keep it that way! I went back twice in a day which should show how loyal I am to them! Workers are nice, fish tacos and shrimp tacos are yummy, and service is fast. SSG is doing it right!

Delish. Wait was hella long but honestly it was worth it. I got the garlic ono plate and kalbi taco. If the wait hadn’t been so long, we would have ordered ten more. The slaw is epic, honestly the best I’ve had. Wouldn’t recommend the tuna Mac salad-pretty flavorless.

South Shore Grill is the ultimate local Honolulu eatery for surf and turf. Locals and visitors alike flock to SSG's small, but mighty joint. As not huge fish eaters, we could not have been more pleased by the grilled Oho with teriyaki. Make sure you get the coleslaw and fries. Both are incredibly seasoned! They also have fountains drinks and self serve refills.

We found this taco shop via a recommendation. It took about 15 minutes to get our food which meant they were cooking the food from scratch. The food came out hot & smelling delicious! The taco plate is a full meal. Very large portion servings. Garlic fries are highly recommended. They have a fountain drink machine with ice if you drink the stuff. A few places to sit inside. Kinda dark. Place to doodle with chalk on the walls while you wait. Tasty salsa & other condiments available.

I understand this place already has great reviews but ignore any of the negative ones and try it. I never leave reviews, and this wasn’t our first choice. We were going across the street but it was closed for the Easter weekend. A happy coincidence. It was SO GOOD! I do not know how or what they do but we all tried each others food and all were absolutely amazing. This is 100% a must try! We’re from Boston and California, everyone agrees this place is exceptional. It’s not expensive either, I can’t hype it anymore. It’s great.

Delicious food! Highly recommend! Had one of each taco except the shrimp taco (allergies) as well as the Cajun fries with aioli and it was all amazing. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. If you’re in the area and want some quality food at reasonable prices, this is the spot to stop at!

Probably the best fish tacos in the area! Fries and Mac salad was really good. Cole slaw is good, too, but they really load up the tacos with it. Also, our tortillas were cold, which I thought was odd, but together with the heaps of cole slaw makes for a very fresh tasting taco.

This place is amazing. One of my must go to every time I come to Oahu. Their food is so fresh, so simple, and so delicious. They’re known for their tacos, and they’re tacos are in fact amazing. But most everything else on their menu is dynamite! I’ve never had to wait for more that 15 minutes even during very busy lunch times. Bring your family, friends, but more importantly, bring an empty stomach! You won’t be disappointed.

This is the quintessential definition of hole in the wall. It's small, the tables in the back are jammed up against extra storage, some of the white walls are black in areas that people's hands have touched too many times. The branding, photos, and menu are beautiful. They did a great job with that, especially the photos. Above all, the food was delicious. We had a vegetarian burrito, fish taco, and shrimp taco. The flavor was distinct and fun. The vegetarian burrito was our favorite.

Happened upon this place on our way back from Diamond Head and ended up coming back a second time. Fish tacos and grilled ono plate was great the first time. Good portions for the price. Rice was done perfectly. We came back because we wanted more of that tuna mac. It wasn’t drowned in Mayo which was nice. Garlic shrimp plate and grilled ono salad was great on our second trip. Service was good. People were nice. Place was clean and unpretentious. Worth a short walk from Waikiki or stopping on your way back Diamond Head.

Awesome place for fresh fish tacos, burgers, fries, and onion rings. There is limited seating, so order to go or come prepared to wait for a space. Try the loaded fries!! They are tasty and perfect to share at your table. The fish tacos are great too. Parking is also limited so you may need to park further away and walk over.

Incredible view of Diamond Head right out the front door We initially came here because of a recommendation for the fish tacos, which weren't as great as I was hoping for - weren't bad, just not amazing (really good coleslaw, though). Loved the Grom Bowl with BBQ Chicken thighs that I had - took it to go for a meal at sunset on Kaimana Beach.

Super hungry when we got there. I chose the grilled chicken box. The salad coming with it was decent, the mac and cheese very tasty and the chicken well seasoned. Would give 4.5 if I could because the chicken was a bit overdone, but it was too good for a 4.

BEST Taco Tuesday place EVER!! $2.50 for a Ono fish taco (or you can do chicken although it's not as amazing). At first I was wary because it looked like it was topped with just a bunch of different types of cabbage & some white sauce but after one bite.... MINDBLOWN!! I could just drink that creamy, dreamy white sauce. It's also good sized piece of solid fish too. Healthy & delicous for only $2.50. There's always a line on Tuesday and even though the kitchen is pretty fast, it's a good idea to order ahead. Super cute inside. Hip but with local Hawai`ian flare so it doesn't seem hipster. One bad note was that the garlic fries were not good. Just mounds of too raw garlic plopped on top, making the fries a soggy glob. So just order more fish tacos instead. Is it Tueday yet?!

I got the fish taco for $4.50 and it is a very nice, overflowing taco. But the best part, it was absolutely delicious & extremely tasty. My other got the Cajun chicken burrito for $9.95 and all he could say is yum, yum, yum. Was recommended to this place by the Banan Food Truck worker and it did not disappoint. Will certainly be back to this little eating place gem!!

Really great fish tacos, they're huge and full of fresh Ono. I had the 2 tacos plate, it comes with rice, Mac salad and coleslaw. Their Mac salad and the slaw were also way above average. It's so much food I saved half for dinner! Great place not far from the beaches along Diamondhead.

Great spot for a lot of good Hawaiian inspired food for a good price. I ordered the mix plate and it was all very good and cost $16. This was one of the more expensive items. The tortilla for the taco was very nice and slightly crispy.

Great, locally-owned taco joint at the foot of Diamond Head and short walk from Waikiki. Tacos are always on-point. It is a bit cramped inside, so you have to scrap for a seat and shouldn't plan to linger. Tip of the hat for them offering a restroom.

Coleslaw salad was delicious, and the tuna mac pared great with the rice. Surf & turf, fries, and fish tacos are pictured. The location is very easy walking distance from the park, and we enjoyed sitting down after walking to Diamondhead Beach.

Great place away from the crowds of Waikiki. I go for Taco Tuesday - unbelievable fish taco (or chicken) deal, and so so good. Spicy fries are also great 👍 And their thumbprint peanut butter homemade cookies for less than $1 each?!? I mean come on. This place is SO GOOD. Definitely worth a stop. Be prepared to wait if you go on Tuesday tho because they get really busy!

Small and cute location. The food was solid: shrimp tacos, burger and kid quesadilas for us. The restaurant was a little dirty and beaten up, though. A lot of hardware stored in the dining area. I had a good laugh at the spurting hole in the side of the ketchup bottle.

Our first time in Oahu and stopped by this wonderful place on our way to Diamond Head for lunch. Definitely felt like this was the place that the locals went to as the folks working there seemed to know the customers as regulars. We, a family of four had four different lunch plates, drinks, and even grabbed a couple of desserts. All I can say is...amazing!! Traditional, authentic, reasonably priced and outstanding service....just what I wanted on a random day in Oahu, not fancy but PERFECT!!!

February 2022: We stopped here on our last night in Oahu and I really wish we would have gone sooner so we could have had it more than once! We were there at peak dinner time, so the line was a little long, but so worth the wait! It's a take-out-only place, so plan a spot close by to eat it. I had the shrimp taco plate and my partner had the Ono fish burrito. Portions and prices were great!

Pricing for this place is quite good especially once you try the food. I had the shrimp burrito and it was frickin bomb! The slaw was perfect. It was not full of mayo and was nice and shredded. The Cajun seasoning added great flavor to the grilled shrimp. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Service was quick and the girl running the register was helpful and friendly. We will secondly be back again to explore more of the menu. We got our food to go so I cannot speak to the inside.

Had been heading to diamond head grill but walked past this joint and decided to give it a spin. Friendly crew and great lunch, went back to order seconds. I got the kalbi beef burrito and it was unreal - one of the best things I ate on Oahu and I am still dreaming about it! My husband got the fish and shrimp tacos and enjoyed those as well. Great customer service and a really cute spot. Perfect stop on the way back to Waikiki from Diamond Head!

The food and menu here is amazing. Flavorful and fresh and made to order. It loses about a star and a half for a few reasons. 1- Seating. There’s no where to sit here. And there’s no park or anything on the street for seating either. The burritos are great, but definitely not wrapped where you could eat them standing. One day we opted for Morey’s (also amazing) just cause we wanted to sit and also get a beer. 2- Drinks. They don’t offer much in the way of drinks and don’t serve alcohol. Kind of a miss. Really loved the vibe and food, but can’t recommend to everyone because of some of the limits of the place.

Ordered the fish tacos... full and meaty, delicious! Surprised that they didn't include lime slices but didn't miss them at all! Also tried the garlic fries... literally as much garlic as fries, figured I ate at least one head (not one clove!) of garlic. I thought my b.o. would be affected the next day...but gratefully no 😁! No place to sit and eat... just a "hole in the wall", don't miss it!

Great little food stop near Diamond Head! Quick service and such great tasting food! I was really impressed, it was exactly what I was looking for after spending time at Diamond Head crater. I had the two plate Cajun shrimp taco platter. Very tasty! And you get so much food! The inside is very small, I went when it wasnt crowded but can see how some may find it hard to get a place to sit. It is easy though to take your food to the nearest park or beach. Definitely a place I would stop at again.

Delicious fish tacos! Some of the best! I enjoyed the chicken club salad with macadamia nut pesto. Great local take on dishes! They serve a great variety of burgers, burritos, sandwiches, and salads. Everything looked delicious. The restaurant has a cool surf decor and it's closed on Sunday mornings for church. They have a couple little kids helping around the restaurant who help out. They're adorable! Much respect for family owned business!

We used to come here when we lived in the area. The last time we came, the setup was completely different. The good news is that the fish tacos are just as I remembered them to be, which is damn awesome. The better news is that their menu looked bigger and better, and their aioli that was given to us for our fries was incredible. It's definitely one of favorite spots for takeouts when I am feeling lazy to cook! We usually order: -Kalbi Burrito -Shrimp Burrito -Cajun Fries -Aioli Sauce (a must for your fries) Don't be expecting your traditional burrito when ordering burrito from here, it's more like a wrap but I still love it. We ordered the SSG mixed plates couple of times. One time it was a miss because the kalbi was soo chewy and cold and one time it was a hit, so we don't know if we really like it yet. Overall, I'll still come back for takeout on lazy days :)

Great Taco Tuesday for fish or chicken for $2.75! Friendly and patient staff. Even though there was a very long line to order, their staff took time to help and explain menu items and help customers with certain food allergies. The food was very good, fresh and tasty! It’s worth the wait. They have a self serve station for sauces and they have a staff member who comes out to clean the area and explain the sauces. Great selection and prices are affordable. I took off one star because there wasn’t enough staff to clean off the tables. Tip: after ordering food or if coming with another person, one of you would want to grab a table.

Best tacos and coleslaw I've had in my life! The chicken, fish, and shrimp tacos are all incredible and cooked to perfection. The chicken is tender, the fish is flaky, the slaw they put on top has a great crunch and is light so it doesn't take away from the rest of the flavors in the taco. I don't know what sauce they put on the tacos but it's delicious. $2.75 Taco Tuesdays. Get there early or deal with the huge line!

I have a hard time hearing in my ear so I like to stand inside. Now if people come inside then I will understand. However, to ask me to wait outside like a barnyard animal, no thank you. I didn't take any photos, but I definitely will be back! Ordered the fish taco and a shrimp taco. They have a two taco combo, but I think it has to be the same tacos. The shrimp is small, but they. They add a lot of lettuce and stuff, so they are pretty substantial. I would say the fish taco was better out of the two because the fish was in larger chunks, do it doesn't get lost. They have plate lunches, burgers, and a pretty extensive menu, so even for picky eaters you will definitely find something to please your appetite

This was the first place we ate when we arrived in Hawaii and man is it good. The only downside is once we ate here, we wanted to come back every day. The burgers are amazing and we particularly enjoyed the "Threes Burger". The tacos are also really good and the chicken and fish tacos are on sale Tuesdays. The staff are really friendly even when the restaurant is really busy and the ambiance is good. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Oahu.

Surprisingly awesome! The gal behind the front counter took our order and was very friendly. My wife got a burger and I got the garlic shrimp plate. We also split an order of the Cajun fries. Everything tasted so good! They even had their own special sauce to dip the fries in. We got the huge size but could have probably done with the large for the fries. One dipping sauce wasn't enough. It was a fun environment and with great food in Hawaii you can't beat that.

We loved the atmosphere. You know a place is good when there is a line out the door to order and it's hard to find a table. We had to wait a bit to order and get our food but it was worth it. The fish tacos were delicious and so was the tuna mac salad. The fries were not good which was sad and the table and floor underneath us was a bit dirty so that's the reason for the 4 stars.

We asked our Lyft driver for local cuisine. He mentioned that any of these places are good, as he was driving on Monsurrate Ave taking us to Diamond Head. We walked there and gave it a try. Turns out that we think it is the Best place in town. Ate there two days in a row and went out of our way to get there the second time. Lol. A must try. Just had what was undoubtedly the best fish taco and fish burrito of my life! This is a true find, a once in a very long time kind of place. Very quaint little family owned place where everyone is treated with a warm smile. The food was fantastic to say the least! I travel for a living and spend over 1/2 of the year on the road, all over the world. I absolutely would not miss the chance to eat here. Been on the island for a year and in my opinion, best burger I had yet. Family enjoyed the small restaurant atmosphere and my kiddo enjoyed drawing on the wall near the front while we ordered and waited. Wifey had her chicken and fish tacos and she enjoyed them both immensely. The aoli was really good as a dipping/spread for your food. You’ll have to look it up for yourself, but trust that it is great! Definitely a reason to return to the area.

The shrimp tacos! I don't make it here often, but I'm always satisfied when I leave South Shore Grill. The food is fairly fresh and tasty. It is a bit hot in the building but there is a good amount of seating inside, or, as I prefer, you can take the food to go and sit out at Diamond Head Beach Park. Only disappointment is the french fries..

We stopped by here for dinner while on vacation, and it's definitely worth checking out before their lease ends. A couple of us had the fish tacos, and they were fantastic. The fish is tender and flaky, and it's surrounded in the tortilla with very crisp and cool coleslaw. One thing we noticed here that wound up being a consistent thing with all Hawaiian restaurants is that everything comes with a bunch of rice and/or macaroni salad. If you like that, then it's a nice plus, but we didn't really care for it.If you're coming for the fish tacos, then just order them one off.

Very happy that I live just a couple of minutes walk away from this great establishment. The menu is extensive and I love the Caprese salad and the BBQ Chicken Quesadillas. One of the highlights is the selection of Tacos, the fish tacos in particular, and Taco Tuesday will find the establishment very busy. My friend recommended this restaurant. He said it's the best fish tacos in town, so we had to go. My bf tried to order one of the signature burgers but the cashier said he didn't want to make him that burger because that's what makes the burger. Ok fine. Sorry I can't customize your signature burger to my liking. So he tries to order the Incinerator burger. The cashier says no order a different one. That one is too hot. That it's really insulting. 😤How do you know whether he likes spicy food or not? I intervene and says, he loves hot food. 😑 Needless to say, my bf orders the Three's. The bread was really hard and he said it wasn't worth it. Moral of the story don't order a burger from a fish tacos place. 🐟🌮 I was completely turned off from ordering food here. I gave it a 3 stars because my friend still swears by the fish tacos!

Literally everything I've ever eaten from this place is pure gold. I started out with the Ono Burrito and for a while never wanted to order anything else because I was worried it wouldn't live up to the deliciousness. Eventually I ventured out to other items (shrimp, kal-bi, tuna mac, etc) and DAMN was I proven wrong. You truly can't go wrong here. I could eat here every day and never get sick of it.

The food itself is great (try the spicy fries, slaw, and their BBQ chicken in any form), and the remodeled location is quite nice. But be prepared for a wait if you go during busy times, which can be hard to predict at this highly tourist-y spot. And depending on who is working the grill, there seems to be a fair bit of inconsistency in the food prep, at times. Still, worth a visit.

Tacos were good. But the garlic butter fries we the BEST. Ok about the tacos... I had the fish tacos with the aioli sauce and had an extra aioli on the side. The tortilla was cold and did tear apart as i picked up the taco. The fish could have had some kind of seasoning but the aioli sauce helped. But the plus side: the amount of fish they served was spot on. I would give it another try but definitely will go for the garlic butter fries.

Great stop after hiking diamond head. Wife had the fish tacos after some counsel from the very helpful cashier. i had the garlic butter grilled ono. Both were excellent. Spicy fries, slaw, rice, and tuna mac sides were great as well. Byob, so we ran to a nearby gas station while our food was being prepared, the food was ready shortly after we got back. We almost walked right by, glad we didn't.

This place is hands down one of the best fast food (healthier) joints in Honolulu. I came in craving a fish taco and after tasting the AMAZINGLY juicy, and loaded fish taco I went on to try their delicious chicken and shrimp tacos. Everything is so fresh and the tacos are loaded with lettuce, tomatoe, carrots, cilantro, and aeoli sauce. It's hard not to swallow your tongue and only $4/taco.

Came here for lunch with my friend who suggested it. I'm always up for trying someplace new and boy this was a great decision made on his behalf! I wanted fish tacos and kalbi so I decided to go with the mixed platter which came with a fish taco, kalbi, and chicken, along with hapa rice (mmmm hapa ;-)) slaw and tuna mac salad. Perfect meal for lunch to enjoy over great conversations with good friends. Fish taco was by far my favorite of the three items. Perfectly cooked, tender and well-seasoned. Tortilla was soft which is how it should be. The kalbi was a bit thicker cut and not to my liking, flavor lacked but wasn't too bad. Chicken was tender and tasty. I had also ordered the chips and salsa, which I learned that they fried their chips to order so be careful! It's hot on the first bite! haha. Parking is street parking, which is easy to find but can be busy during lunch hour! Service was great and staff were friendly. Seating area is somewhat limited but it won't hurt getting to-go and heading to the beach to enjoy lunch!

The Cajun fries actually tasted Cajun (AZ Cajun fries/ food has been made generally bland to cater to the AZ pallate I guess......?). Daughter had Grilled Chicken Taco and Garlic fries and loved it. Parking is along the street here, but you probably won't have to go too far- even if you do the weather is great and and the scenery is amazing. I would definitely be a repeat customer.

Both times the food tastes great, Both times the cashiers taking the order were horrible. He acted like it was more of a bother to take our order. Spoke when were weren't done talking to him, and replied abruptly when we had questions. On top of that, didn't even get our order right. If he just listened and wasn't such a jerk, 5 stars for sure. If you don't want to talk to customers, then dont be at the cashier station.

This place seems to always be crowded so expect a wait. The staff are friendly and do their best to accommodate their customers, who seem to be mostly tourists. The food is good, but Taco Tuesdays make it more worth it, but of course it's usually crowded then.

One of my favorite little hole in the wall places. I love their slaw so much and it pretty much comes with everything. The kalbi here is a winner, whether in a burrito, on its own, or in a taco. Fish is amazing too. You really can't go wrong here. Don't forget to grab a dessert. I've yet to have anything here that I don't love. I guess I have to pick one thing I didn't like is the tortila wrapper they use is a little on the dry side, but that's a minor gripe when what's inside is juicy and delicious. Especially the kalbi, did I mention the kalbi? The wait can be long but the staff is friendly. It does get a little warm in there too. Parking, as with anything in this area, can be difficult. But once again, despite the minor gripes, this is a place I'd recommend to just about anyone.
