The salmon poke was too sweet and it covered the taste of the fresh fish. I tried some other flavors and they were all pretty good in general though. If you just want some poke you can ask for a bed of leaves or something in addition to just rice and your poke. The parking lot here is pretty small but should have a good in/out flow because this place is takeout only.

I wish I could've spent more time with the other items here. Lots to choose from but one can only eat so much. I had settled on the seared furikake which is a take on fresh ahi, seared perfectly on the edges and sprinkles with furikake. It comes with Japanese mayo and rice. The food was soo good I couldn't enjoy the taste bc I ate like there was no tomorrow. Don't do what I did and respect the fish. Savor it and definitely stop in for some fresh fish.

What a great local find!! I typically like to eat and support local when traveling and I would go back to Fresh Catch in a heartbeat. The lady behind the counter was super friendly and answered all our questions patiently, even with a line forming behind us. The food (Poke bowl & Ahi tuna salad) were very fresh and flavorful. Highly recommend ⭐️

Just heads up- no seating available. I was not impressed with my fried fish. Though the portions were super generous. Apparently it's a must visit place but I've been to more worthy places on the island.

If you’re a hungry boi, I’d recommend getting two scoops of rice and three types of fish. It’ll net you almost $25-30. But wow, the smoked tako and Hawaiian blends were amazing. Tried other flavors of tuna from my friends and they were all great. They don’t have the extra toppings and frills (like veggies), which is the downside if you’re looking for that kind of poke spot.

Food was incredibly good. We wish we tried it days before and not on our last day on the island so we could go there again! The people in there were super nice as well. I’d put more stars if possible!

There was a line when we went but the line moved pretty fast. You can order what you want on the menu or you can make your own poke bowl. The poke bowl is charged by the weight. It was a bit pricey for some reason(maybe they weighed the bowl with the white rice in the box...). I love the variety of poke that they have. My dad ordered garlic chicken. It was ready in 10 minutes. Garlic sauce was very good. My brother had poke bowl with hawaiian flavor and shoyu flavor. I dare you try the firecracker poke. It was spicy(I can eat very spicy) and so good!

This poke was so fresh, so tasty, well priced and honestly, the best we’ve had on the island! We ordered the tako and the spicy ahi. We went close to closing time and the lady gave us a container of spicy salmon FOR FREE since it’d go to waste otherwise. The funny thing is we liked the spicy salmon best! Overall, super friendly staff and amazing poke. 100% stop here for a lovely treat!

We got the salmon poke, tako poke, firecracker poke, and Spanish dragon poke. The firecracker and Spanish dragon were our favorites. We loved that you could mix and match what you wanted on your poke bowl. There was no wait when we went around 11am on a Tuesday. Super friendly and welcoming service!

Parking can be tight but the fresh fish makes up for it. Ahi katsu is our go to item but you won't go wrong getting their poke. They have a wide variety so you'll find something that fits your taste.

Hands down the BEST poke we had while in Waikiki. Our Uber driver recommended it and it did not disappoint. Reasonable prices too. Just a heads up, only take out and no dine in when we went (mid January). There's no outside area to eat either. So just be prepared to take it with you. Well worth it!!

Fresh and cheap. Cheapest I’ve found so far. They do have some more flavours to choose from compared to other places. Shoyu, pricy, fireball, lumi etc. It is a bit away from Waikiki but next to Leonard’s bakery so you can walk down here to buy your lunch before you head back to the beach. Take out only.

If you find yourself in Honolulu, make a stop at Fresh Catch. I ordered the Firecracker Ahi (Tuna) Poke and it was absolutely amazing. Also, ask for a side of rice and it will be a great Lunch or Dinner. It’s spicy, fresh and most importantly it’s delicious! (No dining, order pickup or to-go)!

They do have an authentic Hawaiian style poke. You cannot enjoy all of the great choices by visiting only one time. You should go there at least twice or more lol

The Puerto Rican dish, Pastele stew, is a must here. So good, flavorful and filling for good price of $13. Comes with 2 scoops of rice and potato salad. If you like Louisiana flavors or gumbo, you’ll love this stew.

Some of the best poke I've eaten! The name of the restaurant stands true because the poke we ordered all tasted very fresh: not fishy at all. The pastele fries were delicious, and the garlic chicken, I believe, to be the best garlic chicken I've ever had. I'm sensitive to garlic and it wasn't too garlicky for me. Service was friendly, and there was plenty of parking when we got there about half hour after opening on a Saturday.

Can I get 6 stars please. Lost tourist in paradise. This place has got it all. Service, great taste and perfect menu. We had seared tuna, coconut shrimp etc. This is take out only so we eat on the side walk. Love this place.

I ordered the garlic chicken on my last day of vacation after not even wanting any more chicken on my trip. I have them a try because they already had good reviews. It was worth it. I couldn’t finish it but I saved it for later and the food is solid. One thing to note is that there location on Apple Maps is incorrect. The Google Maps location is correct even though there under construction and server out of the best type of kitchen anyway (food truck).

4.5 stars? Spicy ahi katsu definitely 5 stars. Huge portion, fish is delicious, very fresh. Sauce on it is delicious too. For poke: spicy Ahi is fresh, pretty decent. Not a huge fan of the salmon, I don’t think it’s local, little bit more fishy. But honestly I can’t eat only ahi and nothing else. Come the second time, ordered their beef stew, so good

This is one of the best places to get poke in town (Honolulu). Not only do they specialize in poke, but they also make one of a kind dishes. My favorite meal on the island is the Wednesday special crab stuffed ahi roll! It is absolutely amazing! We also had the tako kimchi poke bowl but I wouldn't go to this as a first try. If you like Korean food and octopus this might be up your alley, otherwise I'd recommend getting a staple poke.

This location is a serious downgrade from the previous spot, but it somehow feels like the magic is missing now, too. Parking is a nightmare, but the fish is still high quality. The flavor of all the fish and the recipes are great, but the seating area is no longer, and it feels like a conveyer belt of customers and a little bit of inefficiency with the speed of service. That said, it's still one of the best poke spots on the island.

Fresh Catch is a good place to get seafood. They seem to be best known for selling poke, but in my opinion this isn’t the place to go if that’s what you’re craving. In general, their marinades are much sweeter than what you’d find at other poke places on island, and consequently the spicy marinades aren’t spicy at all. Plus, their price per pound is much higher than average. The freshness and quality of the fish itself is pretty good though. Their plate lunches is where they shine. Their ahi katsu is great—flavorful, not dried out like you’d commonly find at other restaurants, and you get a ton of it for the price. Their seared ahi is also nice since the raw part of the fish is good quality as mentioned before, but you don’t get as much food as the ahi katsu and the crust is a bit too salty. Their ahi belly gives a pretty good amount of food for the price but, again, the garlic butter sauce they use is pretty salty and tends to dominate the flavor of the dish. As for their new location, it’s much less convenient to get to than their old Waialae spot. Parking is pretty tight and exiting their lot is kind of sketchy. Overall, good place to get seafood-based plate lunches, but there are better places to get poke. They tend to be heavy handed with certain seasonings (mostly salt and sugar), so be aware of that.

This was really delicious food; the poke bowl I had here was the best I've had so far. It looked to me that it was a place popular with locals, as it wasn't a flashy restaurant but was packed to the brim with a line out of the door. I would recommend to anyone wanting delicious seafood.

Update 4/2/21: Same delicious and flavorful poke/plates from local family run business. New location (not the one on Waialae, old old pizza hut) is easier to reach than initially thought. Depending on which direction you're driving from, head up Kapahulu towards mauka/mountain, turn right onto Waialae and first right onto 1st Ave, then right onto Harding to basically make a loop. Daily specials on the board as well as the usual yummy goodness. Previous Review: Lucked out on a parking stall at noon, (parking lot shares stalls with an also busy recycling center). Super friendly service (greeted nicely, not rushed, reminded to grab forks and napkins before heading out). Last visit was maybe two years ago and quality and quantity is still consistent as it was then! Enjoyed soft, moist and flavorful furikake salmon, and an crab ahi roll weekly special item. Ono!!

Absolutely the best poke in Honolulu. Sont bother with the other places or ono. This is the freshest poke and the most flavorful. Prices are also cheaper than most others and worth every penny. Went there 3 times in a week after trying a few poke places. You won't regret it.

Nice gem for good poke! I ordered the spicy Ahi poke only which was a bit heavy for me so I would suggest to mix it up a little with something light (salmon or normal Ahi) as the sauce can be too much if you run out of rice. The store is kinda small so you may have to takeout otherwise the price is reasonable and the poke is fresh!

The spicy ahi katsu is so good. So perfectly crispy, lots of flavor. HUGE portion. Definitely enough for 2 people. Parking is really difficult to find but people come and go quickly so spots do open up.

Salmon furikake - was really good! I loved the sauce that came with it. Spicy Ahi Katsu - AMAZING. Perfectly fried, amazing flavors and spices. The sauce went perfectly with it. I wanted to go there again before leaving back home but they were closed (Monday). I will be dreaming about this and making it a mission to find something similar back home.

This place convinced my poke-hating husband that he might like poke. Very fresh and tasty, but the line can be long and the place crowded. We tried the seared ahi salad and some shoyu ahi by itself. Both were mouth melting ahi, but we preferred the shoyu more. 90% of the people ordering when we were there bought a poke bowl. So if it's your first time, I would aim for that. Will be back again for sure.

BEST POKE I HAVE EVER HAD! We have a lot of poke in Seattle. But Fresh Catch Kaimuki beat them all hands down. It's an unassuming place, with a handful of picnic tables inside for seating. Poke is sold by the pound. They weigh the rice and then weigh again with the poke and charge accordingly. We got 2 two scoops rice, two types of poke per bowl, it was $35 for two bowls. Pictured below is one bowl with the smoked tako(octopus) and some flavor of tuna. The smoked tako is AMAZING. The tuna was good. It turned out they were upgrading their kitchen when we tried to go back and they were closed. They have bottled drinks and fountain drinks. They also make plate lunch style meals, one in our party got fried chicken and one got smoked meat fried rice. The fried chicken was decent. But I would only come back for the poke.

I guess it's if you know what you want it is what it is, they didn't offer any explanation of what anything was. The cashier just stood there and watched me try and figure stuff out. The display was was foggy so I had a hard time seeing the stuff in it and the visual freshness of it, I wished they offered small samples.

The seared ahi was flavored perfectly for us. Cooked to perfection and seasoned with pepper and sesame seeds. The rest of the food was really good too but that ahi was amazing. I like the style of rice as well - sticky but not overcooked. Great place for takeout to go to the beach.

What an GREAT place to get some raw fish, garlic ahi plate and there pastele's are 'ono. Located on Waialae Avenue across the street of City Mill Kaimuki. Prices are moderate. Staff is friendly with fast service. There are couple of tables if you were gonna enjoy your meal there but due to Covid there doing take it orders. Open 7days a week most of the time it's a steady flow of customers.

Great location. Very easy to get to. Not busy at all in the late afternoon. Has its own parking, which is such a HUGE relief if you're use to driving in the city and trying to find parking, where to walk, paying for parking, etc... The online ordering is super convenient. I tried 5 different types of poke since it was my first time trying these guys out... I LOOOOOOVE poke. To be totally honest on the poke front, that was not my favorite. Two were way too sweet, one was insanely over seasoned, one was okay but mostly bland and one was too weird for me personally. But, maybe they make it to go with rice and I just happen to be one of those crazy types that eat it right out of the container. The service was also fast and fantastic, so I definitely say give it a try. I'm going to go back for sure and give it at least one more chance, but I'll be giving the box lunches a whirl next time around.

Fresh Catch is a must visit! The wife and I ordered the Ahi Katsu and we were blown away by how good it was. I've had donkatsu many times, but I haven't been to a place that serves Ahi katsu. The ahi is cooked all the way but it was still juicy and tender and the breading was lightly fried and crispy. We loved the sauce that was served with it. We will definitely be back for this since this was one of our favorite dishes of our trip to Oahu.

Although the place is not big, the fish is really good and high quality. I ordered the sealed Ahi and smoked Tako, come with rice and green salad. The Ahi is extremely fresh at all and sealed with seasoning on the top. It gives you rich and creamy in your mouth. The Tako is kind of cold salad and gives the sweetness and chewy from seafood self. Both food are definitely worth to try it out.

DELICIOUS!!! The ahi tuna katsu and poke are delicious. The flavors and texture that they bring to the table are out of this world. Would recommend 10/10. The parking lot, however, is a little small and the cashier was unfriendly. Besides that, the food was freaking DELICIOUS.

A fab poke & traditional Hawaiian joint. Many options to choose from. We had the fire ball ahi, Hawaiian ahi and the spicy shoyu ahi. We also got the special for Wednesday - ahi crab roll. In ONE WORD - SUPERB. Great, fresh fish, wonderful seasoning and super friendly staff. About $ 23/lb. for poke but that is what you should be paying for this type of quality. Can't go wrong here!

The menu and ordering process are really confusing if you’re trying to customize your poke bowl. They don’t have the options of carbs ready and the pricing is confusing too. The food was great tho. Salmon is extraordinary. I guess the menu is part of the reason why it stays the substitute of ono seafood instead of outshining it lol

Delicious selection of poke bowls and made to order fried rice. My wife had the garlic salmon that was unbelievably tasty. The salmon melted in your mouth and the sauce was incredible. Really reasonably priced. Kind and genuinely helpful customer service.

Delicious fresh poke. The ahi dish is also really good. Staff was very friendly and gave many free samples of poke. There were two minor issues during our visit. My wife was looking forward to fish tacos and we were surprised to find they do not have fish tacos except on one day of the week as a special. Really!? also, the pungent smell of fish coming from the back area was very strong. A few of our crew did not want to eat in there so we just took the food to go.

Not sure how we spent $40 on 2 poke bowls, 2 small scoops each. I think there was an error and they forgot to tare the scale when the rice was added, or when they added second poke to container. The Poke was ok, and a lot of people talked about how it was good for the value but I didn’t think so. Will go to Ono next time.

We went here on recommendation from a local, and it turned out to be one of our best meals during our stay on the island! Staff efficiently took orders and despite the many customers, we received our food after a short wait and were out the door. I had the seared ahi salad. Very fresh and delicious! The others in my group had the ahi katsu, garlic chicken, I sampled them and everything was yummy and satisfying. I can't wait to go back and try more things on the menu including the poke of which they had many varieties. A must visit while in Honolulu!

Never been a big fan of poke despite being island born but Fresh Catch changed that. They raised the bar on quality, taste, variety, freshness and most important made me a convert. Got to taste several different types before picking five favorites to accompany four plate lunches for a picnic at the beach. While poke is the star here, can't say enough good things about the plate lunches which are reasonable, well-prepared, perfectly seasoned and onolicious. Can't wait for return trip to try Chef Specials and other poke options.

Truly the freshest poke on the island. We ate so many other poke places but always came back to here! The ones that stood out for us was their smoked talk/octopus, their salmon poke (that basically tastes like candy because it is that good), and their spicy coconut tako. But honestly, all of their poke flavours are so good, so you can't go wrong. You can either purchase it either by the pound or you can get a scoop of rice to enjoy it too. Highly recommend this place.

We got here slightly before they opened, and were the first ones in the door. Less than 15 minutes later, the place was almost full. That is a testament to its well-deserved popularity. We sampled almost all of the poke they had (my parents were kind of poke amateurs, so I wanted to give them as much exposure as possible), and it was all incredibly fresh and delicious. The cooked dishes were also very satisfying and filling. The workers there were also incredibly patient and helpful. Worth noting that the parking lot is a bit small, and that it seems like they run out of some poke if you come late, so get there early!

I loved this place. This was the first restaurant we went to when we got to Oahu. Found it on yelp when we didn't know where we should go to eat. The parking was terrible at this place but even so don't leave. The service was great. We told them it was our first time there and never ordered from this place before. The man behind the counter asked what kind of food we like to direct us towards what each of us should order. He took his time with us and also did some small talk about where we from. He gave us samples of Poke that was fresh and amazing. My husband who doesn't like that kind of stuff even enjoyed it. The food that wasn't in the deli-like case was made to order and out in reasonable time. And the price was reasonable for being Hawaii.

We stopped by on spec and as soon as we walked in and saw how busy it was we were pleased. As a British family our accent was noticeable and the locals eating there were very friendly. Two of us had fish and chips - possibly the best chips ever, apparently, and that coming from a Brit! Two had salmon and Furikake Seared with spicy mayonnaise - all were pleased with our choices. I will be returning to test the Poke bar which was extensive. Highly recommended

Came here because a local recommended it for the best poke bowls. Definitely satisfied! They have a variety of poke flavors. They also had salmon dishes and seared ahi. Not much else so make sure you love poke! I had a poke bowl with one scoop of rice for 4$! Delicious. The place is small , market style to purchase poke by the pound if you wish, and has very few tables so be prepared just in case they're busy. Ultimately food is great and at a great price.

While the fish and chips as well as the crab sandwich were pretty decent here, we had many better meals for the price while we were visiting. The fish and chips were a bit greasier than they were at other restaurants (including a drive through), but the flavor was good. I will say that the crab sandwich was actually made with real crab, which was very flavorful. Overall, it was a bit expensive for what it was compared to other seafood joints.

Had the spicy ago katsu as well which was excellent, but kind of lost its lustre halfway thru or so. When it's piping hot it's definitely at its best! About seven picnic style tables inside. Out of everything I have had on the island, this place popped up as the top poke spot near me. It blows the doors off everything I have had on the island. If you like sushi, the poke bowls will blow your mind. All the other poke I've had in the last week was mediocre and didn't taste anywhere near as fresh. One has to love Fresh Catch. The fish is amazing. This place is very casual and very local. You'll have the option to order things like Ahi Belly that is hard to find on the mainland. Fresh Catch is a very good place for poke, but if you venture out to other dishes you won't be disappointed. The ahi belly sandwich is huge and comes with an egg on top -- I dream of it when I'm starving!

I got the furikake salmon, which is your basic lunch dish, but you should mainly come here for the poke. I had never had poke before, so I tried my first ones here, and this is definitely the best place so far for poke. They have many different kinds - some are sweet, and some are really spicy. If you order poke, make sure to have some rice, too. I liked all the ones I tried, but I would say the most common ones are the spicy ahi, shoyu ahi, and garlic ahi maybe? But they're all worth trying. It's hard to get a table/seat here, so make sure to come before lunch or after.

The fireball ahi was good too but not as spicy as the name implies. My group got the poke separate from the rice, which was easier to share with other people. Also I'm not a big fan of warm raw fish so having them separate was nice.

If you like poke, then this is a great place to visit. They have so many varieties available and are happy to let you sample them all before you choose what you want. It's set up like a deli counter - you can eat inside or get some to go. You can get poke to go in plastic containers and keep them in your hotel fridge for midnight poke cravings!

Fresh and delicious poke! Not the kind you find on the mainland with an array of toppings and sauces. Just fish with a flavorful marinade with scoops of rice for 50 cents apiece. I enjoyed the shoya ahi and Hawaiian blend ahi, plus a few of the salmon and tuna varieties I tried. You can sample fish too, and they also offer hot entrees. Great spot for lunch if you're in the area!

Plate lunch or poke.. Both great! Tip, if ordering plate lunch, go directly to register so they can put in you order, then get your poke. If want poke or poke bowl (with rice) go to counter. Crowded and confusing at times but it's part of the charm. Staff is always friendly and helpful and will give you a taste if you are unsure. If still can't decide? Get some rice and order a quarter pound of everything!

There's a reason it's always crazy busy in here. Food is terrific and amazingly fresh. We usually get rice and poke with a side of tako. Delic...particularly for lunch on the way back from a morning snorkel at Hanauma Bay.
