My girlfriend and I have been trying new places trying to support small business and have been VERY let down the past 2 times. I guess they're right when they say the 3rd times a charm! We both got the Philly steak subs and they were delicious ! Even the fries were good. They were actually CRISPY and salted not soggy mush. 10/10 would recommend and will be returning to try other things (if I can manage to not get the Philly Steak sub again. This place is a hidden gem. Great food and friendly customer service. If you're reading this you should try it out.

You should go here! I got the Black and White Gyro, Fries, and a drink, all for under $15. The food tasted great and I enjoyed how casual/friendly the vibe was inside. Also, the Gyro was the BIGGEST I have ever seen. It was like the footlong sub of Gyros! If you're looking for a place to get your money's worth, this is it. (Forgive my dirty hands in the picture, I was at work)

Pretty much take out of the best Mediterranean street food in town. Not fast food, but real food made by real people that know the food. Portions are big, authentic, and made right before your eyes while you wait. And yes, the food is so good you have to wait for it. And it's well worth the wait.

So freaking good. They do NOT skimp on the meat; great food at reasonable prices. We ordered a classic gyro and a gyro salad (great option for Keto and low carb folks). I was a bit worried my salad wouldn’t have enough meat or dressing, but it was PERFECTION. I highly recommend and we will return for sure! The environment was clean and the gentlemen behind the counter were fast and friendly -and dare I say very attractive, haha.

Nice home style food made to order. Delicious food and home atmosphere. The small shop feel makes it feel authentic and welcoming. Portion sizes are gigantic regardless of what you order so be prepared. I ordered a Philly and they pulled out a bun that I was certain they were going cut in half. Parking on the street or in side lot. MasterCard/Visa/Cash accepted.

Eastern Deli is the place you don't tell others about because you don't want there to be a wait when you order food there. But then you feel bad because it is something that should be shared with everyone! Fantastic selection of food, huge portions, at a fair price. Damn is this place good! It is our go-to Gyro stop.

This hole in the wall spot is the best in GR hands down. Me and my mother are from the Detroit area and we have known the gentleman running the place for years, whom is also a Detroit native. This is the closest your gonna get to Detroit style food and it reminds me of the city everytime I eat here. It's like a little piece of home. The men are always nice and friendly. Food has always been on point and delicious. Cooked exactly how it's ordered, I've never had issues. Everything is delicious, but my favorite is the Philly Cheese steak and they use REAL steak meat. Best price food for your buck.

If u want a spanky store front in a strip mall, that's ur problem. This is a hidden gem. The hamburger meat tastes fresh, much better than average. Good gyros, subs too, all made in front of u instead of a backroom kitchen.

I love coming here usually the men answer the phone but this time a woman answered the phone and instead of her wanting to take my order because it’s a little more complicated which the men do each time she said they can’t do that with the sandwich’s and then I said well the men do it for me and she said well if you want to come in and order that’ll probably be easier…. Just seems like if they wanted to sell some food they would take the order over the phone…

I love this place. They treat their regulars really well, and the gyros are huge. Only down side is if you get there at the wrong time, you might wait 15 minutes for your food, BUT they have a tv set up with something on.

This was my second visit to Eastern Deli, the first I had a black & white gyro.. it was fantastic! These guys are really good at what they do. Also, I had a bit of a card malfunction. I apologized for them making food I could not pay for. They insisted I just take it. Needless to say I will be returning to pay them and then some for their generosity.

Really giving a 4 star for the food it was very good. Staff was friendly. The wait was long there wasn't a sign showing where to order so people that came in after me jumped ahead of me in line. I was given an apology for the wait time about 30 min to get in and out. Lunch time around 12:20pm. A line to the door when I left.

I almost don't want to give Eastern Deli a good review because I want to keep it all to myself! But the incredible chef deserves an excellent review. I have been enjoying Eastern Deli for 12 years. I get the Hummus Pita every time and it never disappoints. My teens have a hard time there because they can never decide which item to get - they are all delicious! It's my favorite place in Grand Rapids thanks not only to the food, but to the kind Chef and staff.

I'm a Chicago guy and never thought I'd have a better Gyro or beef sandwich than Al's Italian, Lou Malnatti's, Patillo's, etc., you name it! But Eastern Deli is by far the best Philly and Gyro I've ever had! I'm just upset I finally discovered this place after all these years. Friendly staff as well, thanks for one of many GREAT future meals! Don't change a thing, I highly recommend!

First of all, the atmosphere here is incredible. I feel like everyone knows eachother, which gives me the impression that they treat their customers well, making people want to come back for more, and that was my experience as well. The owner, or at least the man who seems to be running the show is a very kind, funny guy. He jokes around with customers and really makes you feel welcome. If the customer service and welcoming atmosphere wasn't enough, the food is phenomenal. I've only had the Philly Steak Sandwhich but it's so good I cant help but get it every time. The portions are also VERY generous. I get the combo with fries and two drinks and it's more than enough to share with a friend. I would really recomend everyone to come here at least once to experience the vibes and also the great food.

Stopped here for the first time today because (a) it was near my bus stop and (b) a pita place in residential Grand Rapids MUST be explored! I wasn't disappointed. I haven't gone through the entire menu, in fact I stopped at the first item (!) and got an Original Gyro. With everything and how. The proprietors were friendly but brisk and no nonsense. Very helpful and pleasant. The atmosphere was akin to my favorite Ethiopian places in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa and Columbus, Ohio, USA. Locals gossiping over sodas and take away customers patiently waiting. Interesting that there was also a lottery booth as one walks in the door. All in all a comfortably no-frills experience. As you might imagine my mouth was watering all the short (though seemingly endless) walk to my temporary digs. Once in the door I tore open the paper wrapping and dug in. Oh my! Delicious. I know not how to describe it other than Yum! And HUGE. Easily enough for three meals if one isn't a pig. I won't say just how much of it I ate. Ahem. I'll most certainly be back! Don't miss out on this small gem in unknown GR.
