Celebrated my birthday with family and it was a great evening. We've been here before and have had very good meals in the past. Tonight was no different. Food was delicious and the service and atmosphere top notch I would highly recommend for a special occasion or date night.

First time visiting Michigan and this restaurant. Had an amazing experience. Atmosphere was warm and inviting. Excellent service from the staff all around. Food was great. Portion size was the right amount where the appetizers didn't fill you up before your meal and the main course was plenty to enjoy. Food nicely seasoned and full of flavor. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing place to enjoy drinks and a great meal.

Great happy hour specials from 3 to 5 PM. Deep discounts. It’s still a little pricey, but the special makes it well worth it. If you are low carb, try a pasta and substitute broccoli for noodles. Our waitress was friendly, the atmosphere was clean, and the food was fantastic.

Bistro Bella Vita is located in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. This restaurant has an upscale type atmosphere with a modest price for what could be considered fine dining. The food was big on flavor using savory spices and seasonings. I enjoyed the Poulet De Provence, which consisted of a half rotisserie roasted chicken breast & leg, brown butter mashed potato, seasonal vegetables and chicken jus. I also had their half Ceaser salad. The service was excellent. I totally enjoyed my entire experience at this restaurant.

If you are looking for quality food and service this is the place to go. They have daily specials aside from the main menu. Service was top notch and plating was a work of art. Eating here is a bit expensive but but the quality is high. It gets busy on the weekends so be sure to get reservations.

Very spacious and comfortable dining area plus bar. Seated promptly. Waitstaff courteous and attentive. Great selection of entrees and desserts. Food was prepared beautifully and tasted great. Most items are a bit pricey but well worth it. Large parking lot located directly across the street.

Calamari, Focaccia, Saffron Risotto, Housemade Rigatoni. Everything was amazing and the service was excellent too. Very busy on Saturday for dinner but food was served quickly and tasted great. Would definitely recommend. They also have options for people with dietary restrictions!

Had a great date night here! Service was fantastic and the food was wonderful. The flavors are delightfully complex and yet simple. Pictured is the Arugula salad with grilled chicken. We also had the Four Cheese Ravioli, Gnocchi, Beet Salad, and Cauliflower Bisque. All of which we'd strongly recommend. To finish we had a regular espresso and they were able to make a decaf espresso as well, and the Dark Chocolate mouse which was not too rich and well balanced.

Great experience here and the food was delicious. I liked a lot of the appetizers vs. my main. If I went back, I wouldn’t have ordered the burger because the pizzas look 🔥. You know this immediately when you see the oven, it’s certified. Everyone we dined with raved about their meals and even returned again during our week stay here. I can’t wait to go back to Bella Vita!!💯

Had lunch here on 11-4-21 and it was absolutely amazing! Mary was my waitress and she did a phenomenal job very friendly and just absolutely amazing(cute too 🥰). I order the Rotini Con Pollo with a Arnold Palmer. For dessert I had the butterscotch Budino! Great place to grab a quick bite or to sit and relax. Price was good, food was great!

Delicious, I have come here 2 times now. I got the Tomato Bruschetta, Frites, Rotini Con Polo, and Tiramisu. Fast service and good waiters, located downtown and walkable from the center of town. Lots of parking nearby.

Bistro Bella Vita is a nice, professional, and super cozy place. When I first came in, I was pleasantly surprised on how everything looked professional (which kind of made me feel bad about wearing short pans and a white shirt.) However, this didn't ruin the experience, and I still enjoyed the food and the beautiful interior of Bistro Bella Vita. My waitress, Anna, was super sweet and attentive to my table. The appetizer which I ordered, the tomato bruschetta, was really good (especially since it was hot outside, and bruschettas are usually served cold.) On the other hand, the entree which I ordered -- the four cheese ravioli -- wasn't as good as I hoped it would be. I felt like it was missing something, I just didn't know exactly what that 'something' was. Despite of this, you should still try it out since it is high quality and, you might like it. 🙂 For dessert, I got the Apple Tart Tatin and The Dark Chocolate Mousse. Both of them were ridiculously good (especially the Mousse.) The Apple Tarte Tartin is basically an apple pie with ice cream and raisins on the side. I suggest you gave this cake a try if you like pies or tarts. Now, the Dark Chocolate Mousse. This. Cake. Is. So. GOOD. It's very light, so it's a perfect dessert after a heavy meal. If you craving something not too sweet, this cake will definitely satisfy you. Also, I think it's a great cake to give to a child which doesn't have enough strength to cut the crust with a spoon (or fork if your fancy.) To summarize; the Dark Chocolate Mousse is a 10/10 and I recommend it. The Apple Tart Tatin is a solid cake for you to try. The four cheese ravioli is okay. Additionally, the look, the atmosphere, and the people are welcoming and professional.

Excellent food and cocktails! Our server Sarah took great care of us and the group didn't feel rushed at all. I had a plate of the black spaghetti and it was perfect cooked and presented beautifully. Will definitely be back!

We've been wanting to try this place for a while and finally did. It was so good, I wish I would have come here a long time ago. I didn't realize it was such a large place! Even with as big as it is, the atmosphere is still quite cozy. Edward was our server and he did an outstanding job. The food was incredible, but my wife said the shrimp in her Seafood Spaghetti was really over done. It happens... it's not the mistake that's the issue, it's how they correct it that can make or break a restaurant. Edward swooped in and had the shrimp replaced right away. Even though my wife said he didn't need to. I enjoyed the Rigatoni Bolognese and it was outstanding! It had a lot of flavor and a hefty portion of meat sauce. There was enough there, that I had my leftovers for lunch the next day. It was my birthday, so they gave me a complimentary Tiramisu. I really never order Tiramisu, but this one is so good, I probably will the next time I come back. It was very moist and had a lovely coffee flavor. I also thought the prices were very reasonable for what they had to offer. I'm really looking forward to my next visit!

we booked with Bistro Bella Vita for our Rehearsal dinner on 8/12/22 and the food was AMAZING! we had two staff members for our whole party and they were on top of the many drink orders. we were able to create a limited menu for our guests and we even got a private dining area. Prices were good as well. We paid about $2000 for 30 people including meals, drinks, appetizers, and desserts! It was perfect in every way!

We came during the 25th anniversary celebration. Lots of people and live jazz, with a fresh take on a classic menu. Our dishes were varied as well as our drinks and desserts. Everyone enjoyed our time and my brother's birthday was memorable. Thank you to all of the people at Bistro Belle Vita.

Exceptional service from our Waiter! I forgot his name but he was very polite and attentive but also gave us our privacy. Food was amazing! We started with the focaccia, then had the beet salad (wow!) Ended with the fish special (branzino) as well as the saffron risotto. Everything was delicious, including the wine and we had a 10/10 experience. One of our favorite places to dine in GR- Thank you!

First place we ever tried in GR. Great food, Cool ambiance. Friendly staff. Harrison was a great server with good suggestions for food and drinks. Ginger & Juice in Margarita style was great. Don't miss the Gnocchi. Salads were fresh and tasty. Had a great time !

Wow, 🤩came into GR for one night only, to celebrate my wife’s birthday (she wanted Italian). So many places near our hotel to choose from, and after looking through some pictures of a few, this place stood out. It held up too! Every piece of the meal was absolutely wonderful. Wine, great. Appetizer (bruschetta), best I’ve ever had. I ordered a special, not typically on the menu… one of the best entrees I’ve ever had. Can’t remember the name but it had thin lasagna type noodles, lamb, spicy tomato sauce, olives. 💣🔥 so dang good! Finished it all off with a terrific tiramisu. Everything was great, including the service. Our server was excellent. Don’t need to see more; this is my favorite restaurant in GR! Thank you for an outstanding experience tonight!

Was a great dining experience. Lovely helpful staff. The Poulet De Provence chicken DID have the wonderful provence spice type flavoring. Took me back to the taste I remembered when I was actually in France. Surprised myself with ordering a cocktail and it was worth it. The dessert Passionfruit tart was a wonderful multilayered flavor experience. Would recommend this restaurant to all foodies. Loved it.

Absolutely amazing food. The Faroe isle salmon is incredible and taste amazing. I always go here if I want a fancy boujie dinner. The martinis are so good. Try the plum martini. Rigatoni is god-tier and probably the best pasta I’ve ever had. Really great job to the bistro Bella vita team for providing an amazing experience. I can’t recommend enough. I would rather eat here than the chop house or Ruth Chris. Really grwst food

Bella Vista had very good food with an upscale snd lively atmosphere. It is a good location for a downtown meeting at lunch. It is right accross from the events center, making it a great place to meet friends before a concert, but if your meeting for business or a date might, I would avoid it before an event in lieu of many other great restaurants that will be quieter and less hectic.

Fantastic restaurant! Had dinner on Valentine's Day. We were seated prompty at the time of our reservation. Our waiter was lovely, kind and attentive. We had dietary restriction of nuts and peanut allergies, and they accommodated it well. All of the food was absolutely delicious - bruschetta, soup special, filet mignon, black sphagetti, dark chocolate cake. The music wasn't too loud, so we could actualy hear each other and have a conversation. Will definitely be coming back!

Massive wine list, great atmosphere, efficient staff. Servers were attentive without being pushy. Readily available for questions. You can chat easily. Which is great since I was on a date! Food was creative and delicious. Price point is a little on the higher side, but that’s to be expected. I noticed on our way out there are some round booths perfect for a group! Valet parking as a convenience too. I’ll be back.

We liked the decor and ambiance as well. Bathrooms super clean (I'm picky about the restrooms.) We'll definitely be dinning here again next time we're in Grand Rapids.

If you have a nut and/or shellfish allergy this might not be the place for you. 80% of the menu contains these two allergens, but some items they can omit nuts from if you ask. Overall food was good and well cooked, but a bit overpriced for pasta.

Lovely bistro downtown with delicious Italian style dishes. Enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. The best are the entrees, the brussel sprouts app weren't my favorite. I lived the dessert. Our waiter was kind and had great recommendations. A little over priced in my opinion but the pasta is outstanding.

My husband and I decided to go to this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. The inside setting is rustic meets elegant. Service is fast and very friendly! We went on a Saturday night with no reservations and was told we would have a 45 minute wait. Thankfully someone cancelled their reservation and we were seated within ten minutes. I would highly recommend the calamari! Also the handmade pasta is out of this world!

We had an outstanding experience here! We came on New Year's Eve & there was a lively crowd in the restaurant but we did not feel rushed at all. My husband ordered the steak & I had the salmon. Both were cooked to perfection. Our waitress was very attentive & made great recommendations. The only downside is that we were seated near the entrance and it was a little chilly. We will be coming back often!

Took my brother there for his birthday, sat at the bar and Josh took great care of us! An exceptional night out! Service was excellent, food was divine, drinks were lovely. My guests were big fans of the cauliflower soup and the Brassicas were a surprising mix of flavors that came together impeccably! My steak melted in my mouth, frites were perfect. The risotto was reported as delicious and the serving was quite generous. My daughter was pleased with the brisket, and went home with leftovers. We shared a sampling of desserts and they were delightfully assembled and tasted as good as they looked. Everything was just right, aaaand! Both of my guests have celiac disease, neither were glutened! This was our second visit, the first missed the mark but patience and grace go a long way. If something's not right, talk to them. I promise you they want your night to be exceptional too! Communication was beyond expectation. Tristan was an absolute pleasure to talk to and so understanding. 10/10 do recommend!

Visited for the first time, Lily our server was very cordial and was very helpful in our decisions. The blue crab beignets app was outstanding, the mushroom pizza was creative with potato and truffle oil, we liked it very much surprisingly not very heavy. The Mulfading pasta was spot on, perfectly balanced flavors that cling to a unique house made pasta. We also had Saffron risotto that blew us away... fantastic. Atmosphere was louder with live jazz playing in the bar but very enjoyable. Stop reading and book a reservation!

Wow. This place is worth it. Amazing service, ambiance & cuisine. Our service and server was perfect, we even came back the next day for a work dinner. They have a great drink and wine menu and their flavors and dish variety were on point. Highly recommend if you are in the area. Must visit!

I went here with my work team for a holiday lunch. We arrived with a reservation about 1 PM on the Thursday before Christmas, and there was a good deal of activity. The atmosphere was lively but our table was cozy. The food was fantastic. We shared a meat and cheese plate and a bread course for an appetizer - the capicola, prosciutto, and goat cheese were all standouts, but all of it was great. I had the Parisian Gnocchi as an entree, which was better than I can adequately describe; the pork ragout was tender, savory and delicious and the pecorino gnocchi melt-in-your-mouth good. Nothing but positives to say about our visit.

Food is amazing!! Highly recommend the fusilli. We went here for my MIL birthday with reservations my husband made through Open Table. He mentioned her birthday and they had a cute card and everything for her at the table. Service was good. Only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 is the lack of children menu items. The selection is good but is doesn't come with anything or even an option to add fruit or anything. I get their clientele is centered around adults but a Sunday dinner is more family oriented. And I do recall the bread and dipping oil used to be complimentary, now it's $2 on the appetizer menu, kind of disappointing. This will always be one of our favorite downtown spots for a special occasion.

BISTRO BELLA VITA provides casual fine dining at its best. The portions are generous to share. We ordered mussels (which were gigantic!) and salad as an appetizer to share aoung 3 people which left us completely satisfied, however we didn't stop there. We each ordered a main... branzino, salmon and a ribeye. The fish was seasoned well(also gigantic) and the ribeye I ordered was one of most cooked to order/juiciest steak I have had outside my house perfectly seasoned. It's a farm to table place so I asked where they found such large mussels and branzino. The mussels were from the New England area and the branzino, imported from Greece. :) even though we were super stuffed we had to try dessert... sweet way to end the meal. pictured below. Altogether, great service, atmosphere and food. I would definitely go back when in grand rapids.

They are back on track, this place does it all, cocktails are great, service is great and now they have great food again. This is where they used to shine but now they are back as my go to restaurant when I am in Grand Rapids. Way to go kitchen staff. Might be their best kitchen staff since they originally opened. I love Mediterranean style food and now they are consistently putting out great meals.

Had a great experience for dinner. Wait staff was professional and prompt. Food was served quickly after ordering. Stated with the calamari, flavors were excellent and the rings were perfectly cooked and tender, the little leg pieces were a bit tough but there were only a couple on the dish. We then had the Margherita and the prosciutto & pear pizza, both were well made with quality toppings and bigger than expected.

Always a staple of upscale dining in Grand Rapids. Calamari appetizer is delicious! I had the Pork with Dijon sauce - yum! Ask for extra Dijon sauce if able. Pair with a classic cocktail (Negroni pictured) for a very classy meal.

I just had few hours left to catch my flight at GrandRapids airport. I went to lunch a little late at 2:30 pm and the waitress suggested me to park my car in the near by parking lot. She gave me the parking validation ticket during the checkout. I hade a traditional handmade tomato basil pizza as I eat only vegetarian on Tuesdays. I asked for the best local beers and they suggested me a wheat beer (don't actually remember the name) which I personally like it. You can see the combo pic below

We had our rehearsal dinner at Bistro Bella Vita and it was fantastic! The food was delicious, the staff was so nice and professional, and it was the perfect ambiance for what we wanted. We had a private dining area and had dinner family style. They were so flexible as well. At the last minute we needed to switch locations of the actual wedding dress rehearsal, and they let us have it at the restaurant before dinner with no problems! I would highly recommend them!

I recently hosted a coed wedding shower at Bistro Bella Vita. I had to plan the whole thing from out of state, and never was able to actually look at the Woodrick Room myself, so the whole process was stressful, full of uncertainties. We hosted 40 people on a Saturday afternoon, for drinks with appetizers, salad/pasta/pizza combo, dessert and cocktails. At my request the food was placed around the room in a casual family style and the wait staff managed this flawlessly. The event planner Isabella was fantastic, and facilitated every little detail I asked for. My guests were blown away by the delicious food, fantastic cocktails, and excellent service. I could not be happier!

My wife and I visited on valentines day. We showed up, table immediately ready. My wife uses a wheelchair, they gave us a nice table with a little extra space. This is unheard of, most places put us near the door or kitchen because it's easy for them. Every staff was happy and attentive and all the food was very fresh and perfectly timed coming out. This place is a well oiled machine with a personal touch. They just nail what it is to be a restaurant and give customer service.

My first visit here, and will not be my last. Sarah was in attendance for our table and she is a true ambassador for Bella Vita, her knowledge of the menu and her overall attentive nature is a perfect compliment to the stunning food. I have never ohh'd and ahh'd so much.. taste sensation. My pasta was aldente, just to my liking. Food was positively flavorful, fantastic job chefs.. I love the limited menu, it allows each dish to have it's own spotlight. The saffron risotto was out of this world!

Amazing food and atmosphere. Well lit, there is a bar, but also fine dining seating across where you will not be disturbed. The whole area is wide open and not cramped. There is also a private room suitable for meetings, family gatherings, and Parents with babies that tend to cry.

Was quite busy...our waiter was rather busy, had to wait excessive amount of time to put our order in and while waiting drinks ran out... Appetizers were good, I had the crab cakes and shrimp... Excellent selection! Then for dinner I had the salmon, she had a noodle dish and complained that the noodles were al dente.... Instead of complaining about it we just box it up and took it home!!!! Other than that great atmosphere nice location right in the heart of downtown!!!

Treat yourself to this hidden gem! Some of the best food I've had in a long time. We want as a family to an early dinner. The server had great recommendations and everything was served in a timely manner. It can be pricey , but worth it! We would definitely go back again if given the chance.

We went here about a month after restaurants were able to be open for in person dining.. Everything was just okay. Our drink glasses were sticky and we had to ask for them to be wiped down. The risotto was not quite cooked all the way, but the flavor was good. My date's steak wasn't cooked to the requested medium but not so far off to ask for a new one. It was just eh... we weren't super impressed and probably won't return.

Lovely French/Italian cuisine with a sleek, simple, and modern atmosphere. Service was great (Matt did an excellent job). Party tried the risotto, pork chops, and pizza. Everything was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. Slightly higher end/pricey but it is downtown Grand Rapids and the Food and drinks are all well worth the visit.

The Bistro is one of my favorite places for a special night out. The servers are extremely knowledgeable about the menu and chefs have never disappointed. Last night we had the Ribeye and Scallops, and as always it was delicious. We haven't been here since Co-vid hit. It was great this evening. As usual it was a great menu! The four of us tried a new Chardonnay the Calera by duckhorn winery. My husband tried the lamb special and I tried the fall salad with the delicate squash. Our waiter was Alexander tonight and he was great! All in all a wonderful experience. I look forward to when they have valet parking again! For those who are smart and care, the Staff were wearing masks- which made us feel safe. You never know who has been vaccinated and even then, those of us who have been vaccinated can carry and shed/spread the virus.

Last night, we had a great anniversary dinner!! We were very happy with our meal and service at BBV. For our 16th anniversary, we wanted a place that we knew would have great food, service, and vibe. BBV didn't fail us. When making our reservation, we were asked if this is for a special occasion. I shared it would be for our anniversary. She confirmed it would be noted. The hostesses wished us a happy anniversary. Our table was set with a handwritten note wishing us a happy anniversary. Our server brought complimentary champagne. He checked for any special dietary needs. Our server was FANTASTIC! So knowledgeable about all the drinks and food. He checked on us regularly and made sure we were enjoying our entire experience. (Really wish we got his name) Even the food runner wished us a happy anniversary! Everything was clean and professionally set. The kitchen and bar a managed very well. Our drinks and food arrived in a timely manner. Our tableware was cleared very promptly so we didn't have empty glasses or plates sitting around. The pacing of the entire meal was perfect. We never felt rushed and we never felt like we were just waiting for something to arrive. The food was delicious as always. The calamari app was so flavorful, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The cauliflower bisque was creamy and delicious. The beet salad was great mix of textures and flavors. I could have been done with just the app and salad. Our entrees were wonderful. My husband's steak was cooked EXACTLY as requested. My seafood spaghetti was so delicious! Perfect texture and flavors. I couldn't finish, so I get to enjoy again for lunch. Topped it off with the Apple Tarte. Great choice for those who don't want an overly sweet rich option. My Prickly Pear Martini was the most perfectly balanced margarita I have ever had! It was insane how the bartender got the fluid volume so perfect, the glass was perfectly full. Packed a punch too :) My husband's red wines were amazing. Our server did a fantastic job of describing and suggesting wine options. BBV's atmosphere is sophisticated, polished, and relaxing. You can be fully dressed up or be very casual, yet completely be appropriate. Date night, special event, or family time...BBV just feels right. Delicious meal, great service, and a relaxing enjoyable evening! Thank you BBV for a great celebration! This is why we keep coming back :) We already booked our company's holiday dinner. We know it will be a great night!

My girlfriend and I decided on this spot. This place is one that will never go out of business due to the high quality of both food and service. Our food was incredible. I mean, really really incredible. The next day I could not stop talking about how delish my dinner was (Beef Brisket Bourguignon - so tender and amazing glaze). Bistro Bella Vita is my absolute favorite restaurant in Grand Rapids. Food is always phenomenal. Atmosphere is comfortable, yet polished. Service is impeccable. This was my first visit, and I may have come on an off-day I'm not sure. First of all I would like to say that my service was amazing, cocktails were delicious, and so are the desserts. I tried both the chocolate mousse dessert and the butterscotch dessert, and both of them were delicious. I had the chicken entree, and while the flavors were definitely there- particular emphasis on the gravy which is really delicious- my chicken was a little dry and my root vegetables weren't cooked thoroughly.

Our server was superb - simultaneously welcoming and fleeting - providing timely and dependable visits. The food was delicious and served hot. Call ahead for reservations. Great restaurant. The food was delicious. Everyone in our group of 6 loved their meals. The service was also amazing. The waitress (I wish I remembered her name) was exceptionally good at her job. She was always there when someone had an question or concern, nobody's cup was completely empty because she stayed on top of it. All without being too noticeable, she was very attentive of the plates and when people were done. And always made sure we were happy. Some of the best, if not the best, service I have had. The atmosphere was inviting and warm, and its located right in down town.

Just good entrees, definitely not great. Brisket was a let down. Great clam chowder soup, appetizers, and one desert (chocolate torte). Other desert was not that good (we didn't even finish, and I always finish deserts). For $150 for 2 people full meal and couple drinks, thought it could have been better. Also, they didn't validate parking at all and I think a restaurant of this price should if they don't have any available parking for their guests. Non covered parking lot directly in front of restaurant was additional $12.50. We will go back but not anytime soon. Definitely rounded up to 4 stars and generous overall with review, 3.5 stars would be more accurate.

This place is beyond amazing. They go above and beyond for EVERY customer. I have been coming to Bistro for years but this experience today really hit home for me. I called asking for a breakfast pizza, they DO NOT have one on the menu but the chef SO KINDLY whipped one up, from what seemed like, thin air! Without exaggeration the absolute best breakfast pizza I have ever had. I love Terras breakfast pizza but Bistro needs to put this on the menu! Thank you so much for always providing a spectacular dining experience!

Writing this before we even leave the restaurant. Food was amazing and priced fair, drinks were generous, and service was prompt. Vince was awesome and very insightful. We have two kids ages 6 and 3 and their food came out quickly. They split an adult plate and Vince had it plated separately and portioned perfectly for both kids. Probably some of the best dining in Grand Rapids, at a very good cost. Great wine list, cocktails, and beer list. Food is consistently good and have never had a bad experience in over a dozen trips. Great location, too, since it is nearby many music venues and other bars/restaurants. Servers are always very knowledgeable about the menu and drink list.

I can understand the 5 star reviews. The food is spectacular and so is the service. However, for me the food and dining experience still wasn't worth the high prices. There are plenty other great restaurants in Grand Rapids that serve food of the same quality but for much cheaper (personal favorite would be butcher's union). For a nice date night / anniversary, I would come back again. But not for a normal meal or night out.

I REALLY loved Bistro Bella Vita! I am a hard sell because I myself am a good cook with a picky palette for flavor. I had a Scallop dish that was to die for! The seasonings and side dishes blended nicely and scallops were done to perfection! Growing up on the east coast and spending time on the Gulf in Mississippi, I am VERY particular with my seafood taste and textures. The ambiance was wonderful! I am not a fan of booth tables but I was very comfortable in theirs. The lighting was just right - not to dim, not too bright. And my biggest expectation that they met without fault is never letting my water glass go empty. I would highly recommend this place to anyone I wouldn't want to disappoint!

Went to celebrate two birthdays, the atmosphere was great and the food was top notch. I cannot recommend the Parisian Gnocchi enough, it will change your life. My meal consisted of the Tomato Bruschetta appetizer, the Parisian Gnocchi entree, and the Lemon Olive Oil Torte for dessert and every dish was hands down perfect. My one and only gripe is that a side serving of bread doesn't come with the Gnocchi to soak up some of the delectable sauce. You will not get better food for your money and as a bonus their traditional cocktails and beers are fairly priced and their bartenders really know how to make a great drink. I can't wait to come back.

Finished it off with the pour over coffee and dessert for two, and they prepare it at your table for you! All in all a very positive experience. At current half service capacity the balance between the front and back of house seems incongruent with the kitchen being the bottleneck. Worth the wait.

This place is fantastic. My wife and I have came here probably close to 10 times. They have a semi-private room available that is great to use (we used it for a small wedding-related event). Friendly and knowledgeable staff with great food and drinks. Food is more expensive than your average restaurant but definitely well worth it. There isnt a massive menu but the multiple dishes I have tried have always been great. Highly recommend.

Went to Bistro for my wife's birthday and will definitely go back. Very attentive service. Food was great. If you're feeling adventurous get the frog leg appetizer, they're fantastic. My wife loved the salmon, I had the saffron rissoto. The shrimp might have been slightly overcooked, but that's me searching for a critique. Carrot cake dessert was complimentary for the birthday. If you're on the fence about checking this place out, or just looking for somewhere to go for a special occasion, I would suggest trying Bistro Bella vita.

This little gem of a place I discovered during restaurant dining week. The street parking is free after 6 and the 3 course menu was $35 not $25. Spencer was a great server and pretty hot too. The food was excellent. I had the salmon, which you specify if you want it well done. And the corn chowder bisque was to die for. I'm not big on chocolate so the dessert gateau I think it was, was a bust for me. The other option had goat cheese and peach something, neither of which I like. Next trip to grand rapids, I can't wait to try other local gems.

Whenever I go here with my boyfriend he is still hungry after his entree, but we do immensely enjoy the food. We made reservations here to celebrate my graduation. Everything about our night was exceptional. Our waitress Kallie was phenomenal! She even offered vegan options that weren't listed on the menu (mushroom risotto, vegetable fusilli, homemade sorbet to name a few). Dessert was awesome. I recommend the Spicy Meatball appetizer. It's not that spicy, but the flavors were amazing. Calamari was top shelf. Wife bought Chicken Rotini (Confit) - omg. Just do it. Go. Relax. Get some wine. Waitress was extraordinarily friendly and engaging.

I have been meaning to get here for a long time but just hadn't done it. Well with COVID and Stay Home, small gatherings and Christmas being so very different we decided to order the Holiday Feast. Oh my goodness what a great choice from the appetizers, the Waldorf Salad, the ham and it's glaze to the amazing (better than mine) Pecan Pie the meal was a huge success. The curbside pickup was smooth, the carry out person friendly and the heat and serve directions spot on. The only mildly disappointing thing was the Parker House Rolls, I would have perfect something a little denser and yeasty. Anyways I can't wait until Covid restrictions are lifted because I am definitely going to make reservations and dine in.

I was speaking at a conference in Grand Rapids and staying at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel. The Concierge recommended this restaurant and they were right on target! It is a short walk from the hotel to the restaurant and it was well worth it! The meatball appetizer was amazing and so was the pork chop. They also have an extensive wine list by the glass or bottle!

Love this restaurant. I love the modern decor. Originally, it was off putting like being in a chain type restaurant. All those doubts disappeared when I tasted the food. I love this place, especially in the cold months of Michigan. The soup is great, vegan and gluten-free friendly. It's a little pricey but overall a good deal. If you go enough, you'll want to grab one of their frequent visitor cards. The 6th 12 oz soup is free! My go-to is the Saffron tomato, but I hold out for the Butternut Squash Bisque. Lobster Bisque is also very tasty, too. Cons would be how it takes forever and a day to get your food during lunch time. If the line is to or out the door, beware you won't be eating for 30 minutes or so

We went last night. We were seated promptly and our server was very nice. I got the Bourguignone. there was plenty of beef but very little vegetables. The beef was nice and tasty however. We also got the bruschetta which was good. We also tiramisu for dessert. both of us thought that the tiramisu must’ve been purchased elsewhere and brought into the restaurant. It just seemed like it was prepackaged. I really can’t explain it. I liked the restaurant but it just missed something but I don’t know what that something is that would have made it a spectacular evening.

Spent $200 tonight for dinner for 4. The Bistro is beautifully decorated, offers a popular "warehouse revision" theme, and is very very noisy. I carry a sound meter app on my phone and the ambient noise level ranged from 88 dB to 94 dB. This is a sound level at which OSHA would require hearing protection. If you are looking for a quite intimate dinner with your significant other - the Bistro is not it. I made online dinner reservations, and requested a booth. When we arrived we were greeted politely and promptly lead to our seats right at our reservation time. We followed a nicely dressed young lady to a spot across the floor where she placed our menus on a table at the intersection of two aisles. I noticed there was a row of unoccupied booths adjacent to the table and asked her if we could have one of those instead. She glared at me, picked up the menus, and tossed them on the booth table and walked away without a further word or glance in our direction. I found this to be very annoying, but perhaps that is just me. Our server arrived promptly to take drink orders and explain the menu. Overall, the service was very good. Our server was there when we needed him but did not hang over us. Perfect. I had the antipasto appetizer, which was very good. In fact, all of the salads and appetizers ordered by our party were excellent. I ordered the rib eye steak, which was over $30.00. I have to say when it arrived I was surprised to discover that the steak was between 3/8 and 1/2 inch thick. This is something I would expect to see at Denny's, not an upscale bistro. My steak was plated next to a brussel sprout mixture, and the entire plate was covered in french fries. Not the most appealing presentation I must say. My son had the duck, which was cold, but had excellent flavor. My wife had the pork loin which she enjoyed completely. My daughter ordered chicken pizza. It arrived and we discovered it was covered with onions. My daughter is allergic to onions, and we asked if they could make another one without the onions. It turned out that the onions were part of a previously prepared sauce and could not be separated. The staff was very polite and professional, and simply asked my daughter to pick out something else. She did and they had it ready in no time. I give full marks for how the staff reacted to our mistake, and made it right (we were not charged for the pizza). Class all the way. I had an after dinner cappuccino, which was good, and we shared the gelato sampler, which was fabulous. Pros: Good sized servings Excellent food quality Excellent table-side service Good wine list Cons: Ambiance - our waiter had to lean across me to hear my wife over the noise. 90+ dB. Food value - tell me that a 3/8 thick steak is worth over $30.00 Attitude? - there were no condiments on the table. You eat what they bring the way they season it. Would I take my family there again? No. But the place was absolutely crawling with people, so clearly my opinion is not a commonly shared one.

Bistro is always a safe bet for happy hour drinks, comfortable but creative cuisine, and good people watching. The atmosphere is typically loud weekend evenings, but it's a jovial, good type of loud. In the 10+ years I've lived here in GR, I have never, ever, had a bad meal or experience. It's consistently good and there's a lot to be said about that. I'm giving it the highest rating because it's a great place for everything from a business lunch meeting to a date or a family gathering. They have lots of seating options. If you want a banquette or a hightop, let them know. Paid parking is directly across the road.

My mom's birthday dinner, 14 in the Wine Cellar room. We arrived early and got two cheese platters which included preserves, apple slaw, cucumbers and three different cheeses. Everyone loved them! Family style dinner with two beautiful salads (beet with cheese, walnuts, etc., and arugula with prosciutto, fruit, etc.), then braised beef (like a pot roast with an incredible wine sauce) and roasted chicken (great texture and taste), plus mashed potatoes, pasta marinara, and root vegetables. While the beef had everyone talking, we all liked everything. Dessert... contract said "mini desserts," which translated into three types of cakes with tasting portions for everyone... what a great surprise!

It was our first time dining at BBV and It was great food but the portions were small and the pricing was large. We were given a small two top table near the rail by the kitchen and ther was constant traffic past our table on both sides of us and many times people were waiting for seating and standing near the rail by our table. It was like having dinner in the median of a highway. Service was great and the waitress was friendly. It was very noisy in there and hard to have a conversation. Not the romantic new years eve dinner I had in mind. The food was tasty but not good enough to ever go back for.

The food (Bella Vita pizza, cherry soda and caesar salad) that I ordered was decent. I'd give the salad a 3/5 and pizza 4/5. It took quite a while to get the food after it was ordered. I got a cherry soda to drink and was told it is made locally. I am not sure where it came from but it was lacking in fizz and flavor. It reminded me of a watered down flavored water. Be mindful of the parking situation should you go here. You could try to find a parking space on the street (it was full the night we went) or pay $12 for valet parking.

A wonderful glass of merlot that complimented everything from the appetizer to the dessert. Several of us shared main course and desserts, everything was fantastic. Stand outs were the Lamb curry and the fusilli pecorino. 3 shared desserts each better than the last, blood orange sherbet, tiramisu, and grapefruit meringue. Yum!!

She had the arugula salad and I had the beet salad they were both very nice. My wife picked the cassulet for her entree. Their version of cassulet was good but not great, it reminded me of pork and beans with some duck...the version I had in Toulouse France was def better. I chose the beef brisket and it was better in every way, more fat than I like but the flavor was fantastic. The creme brulee was velvety smooth (near perfect) and the cappuccino was good as well. This was my first time here and I would come again.

Arrived about 1:30 after main lunch, and hostess was on the phone, my friend whispered to her after a minute if we could sit anywhere and we thought she nodded yes, so we proceeded to a booth which I prefer to a high top since I have fibromyalgia. A waiter came over and told us the section was closed, but said if we prefer we could sit there after I told him why we zeroed in on the booth. (A BIG thank you on that one.) Background music was perfect, upbeat but not too loud. I ordered the rigatoni Bolognese, and my friend had the Brisket. Both dishes were served quickly and hot. My pasta was perfectly al dente, and my friend's beef feel apart with the fork. Staff was pleasant, and portions ample enough to take home leftovers. Definitely will be back!

For my first dish, I choose the Smoked Pork Tenderloin Salad. It’s a salad of fresh farm greens topped with olive oil poached potatoes, sweet corn, snap peas, and a charred onion vinaigrette. Slices of marinated and smoked pork tenderloin hide playfully amongst the contents of this cornucopia. The veggies are all very fresh and crisp, and the dressing adds a soulful tang. The Abarino-Grenache Blanc by Trenza (Edna Valley, CA) is too sweet for my usual taste, but pairs very nicely with the pork. Potato Gnocchi follows, with little fluffy pillows drenched in a ragout of local meats and smoked tomato over farm beans and sprinkled with parmesan cheese. Each bite melts in my mouth. The beans are still a tad firm, which contrasts nicely with the succulent and seductive meat sauce. They select a Montepulciano d’Abruzzo (San Lorenzo, Italy) to pair, and it’s bold, licorice-tinged body wraps around the meaty textures as if the two had been in love for ages. My eye is on the Braised Pine Crest Beef (the same beef they used in their Grandwich entry), but Juliet beats me to it. And there’s no way I’m ordering two identical dishes! So I veer against the grain and get the Pine Crest Ribeye instead. Ribeye is not my favorite cut—a bit too fatty and rich—but I figure we’ll split the dishes and we’ll all be happy. My steak, medium-rare of course, comes with fingerling potatoes, snap peas, sweet corn, romanesco (a kind of brocolli), and house-made steak sauce. The beef does not give way to the fat, and all the vegetable components go nicely (if somewhat recycled from my pork salad course), and the sauce is solid steakhouse quality. My few bites of Juliet’s polenta and braised beef make me wish I’d ordered first, but I’m happy with my dish as well. A Shiraz by Shoofly (South Austrailia) matches the richness of the rib eye perfectly. No room for dessert, unfortunately (and this time I mean it!) so we pay the very reasonable bill and head back out to wade through festival-goers once more. Bistro Bella Vita has always been a reputable eatery for authentic modern Italian cuisine, and this tasting menu has definitely put them a notch above any competitors, in my book. Fresh preparation, excellent wine pairings, and friendly, thoughtful service. I can’t wait to go back.
