If you're looking for a place to get an excellent variety of sushi, a quality atmosphere, and great service, look no further. I have tried a few of their non-sushi offerings and while it was good, I wasn't blown away quite like I was with their sushi. Their offerings of rolls are varied and unique, with enough common choices for pickier eaters. The prices are slightly high but this is offset by the fact that their servings are generous. I highly recommend this place if you're looking to have a fresh experience and enjoy a plethora of different sushi rolls.

Quaint and charming atmosphere. Staff were top notch, very friendly and attentive. Ordered sushi and rolls which were amazing. Waitress took the time to explain their custom rolls on the menu and what was on our plates when they arrived. Comparable and fair pricing. Easy 5 stars would highly recommend.

Fantastic sushi joint. Small but was able to walk right in and find a seat at 5:30pm on a Friday. Price was reasonable and portion sizes were more than adequate. Quality/Taste was amazing! Will definitely be going back.

This place is cozy and has great ambiance. Definitely a place you can go by yourself or with a small group of friends. My family and I got a sashimi bento box, bulgogi beef bento box, and a chicken teriyaki bento box; all of which were very tasty! Will definitely come here again. Also their sashimi is so fresh and very good, especially the salmon!

Sushi/sashimi was delicious, service was fast and friendly. Only reason for 4/5 stars is (1) the sushi was very small. I ordered one of the bento boxes + a roll and was still fairly hungry. Also, there is no alcohol... The undon soup was amazing.

This was an unexpected pleasure. Stepping in the first thing I saw is the counter with two chefs preparing sushi and sashimi. My daughter and I were seated at the left. Service was quick, we each ordered the green tea. She ordered two sushi rolls while I ordered the sashimi box. The food, service, and atmosphere was wonderful. It reminded me favorably of sushi places I enjoyed in my travels overseas.

Me and my family usually come here to eat, I would say a lot. This is our forever top choice for sushi place. The taste is the most accurate compared to the other 16 sushi restaurants that I have tried. The place is nice and chill, customer services were great. I love sashimi, so it's really comforting when the sashimi from this place tastes fresh and "clean" (if you get what I mean). The food in general is top tier, I have come here so many times that I probably have tried more than half of the menu and everything was a hit. The place itself it pretty small but cozy. I have tried a bunches of sushi/japanese/korean places before and I would say this is my top 1 or 2. The price is fair, my family has all the big eaters of the world, and always the price is fair for what we get.

Omg! This place! We always get the sushi, sashimi, and tuna roll lunch special (chef choice). It’s always different and always terrific. Includes the best miso soup I’ve ever had. Couldn’t be happier. It can get pretty tight in here but it definitely reminds me of shops in Japan.

I’d like to take the time to personally thank my “sushi tender”.(You know who are , and you are more than appreciate💞) Sushi is always delectable , fresh , and piquant. Beside the sushi , the Vegetable ramen is top tier. It’s always served fresh and full of flavor . Also the waitress are always very observant and attentive . I never have to ask for anything . Very well mannered and great hospitality. Which all rounds off to a very good experience every time I come , not to mention I drive nearly a hour just to get it ! Adorable restaurant with authentic Asian food. I had Teriyaki Salmon Bento box and the portion included miso soup, steamed rice, salad, veggie and shrimp tempura, 4 pieces of roll, and the salmon itself. Yum yum! Updated; become a regular here. Love every dinner bento box selection that the restaurant offers.

The food is good, don’t get me wrong. They have good quality sushi here. The atmosphere is nice with the authentic original vibes with the added ambiance of the downtown life. I got the stone bowl bibimbap while the rest of my group got sushi. It was good, but I feel as though the food was a bit overpriced. I don’t come to eat downtown much for this reason, but I didn’t have a choice since it was the birthday girls choice. This place is good if you’re eating out once in a while, but I can’t see myself coming here more than once a month.

Really quaint spot in a great location. I have driven by this place multiple times with the intention to visit. When I finally decided to try it I was pleased to find it was a small cozy spot with about 10 tables. After being seated we were greater by our server to order our drinks the green tea was perfect after a cold stroll. We ordered an appetizer one main dish and 2 sushi rolls to share. Food came out at the right temperatures and very quickly. However, the experience didn't feel rushed. Long story short... I highly recommend, this will be another place I will certainly return to...

Prompt service, followed safety guidelines accordingly, very clean. Food was delightful, takoyaki was absolutely delicious and sushi was perfectly crafted. Their card machine seemed to have a problem with the chip on my PayPal card but besides that the experience was lovely.

(Updated) ATO is my favorite Asian restaurant in all of Michigan and is worth the hour drive i make from Kzoo. And we make the drive very often too! Pretty much anything you order from the menu is bound to exceed your expectations!! Food quality is outstanding, and service is top notch. Every time we come back it just seems to get busier so you might as well join the rest of us!

Decent sushi. Spicy levels are pretty Midwestern level so don't be afraid to try it even if it's in red. Outdoor seating is nice to have but can be loud since it's off a busy street.

It was good. Small inside. The price for soy paper is crazy expensive. $4 per maki roll. I am not a big seaweed wrap fan so I always go for the soy paper. Not today. That was my only issue.

This place is nearby where I work, so I stop in occasionally for lunch or an early dinner. Service is always fast and the staff are very friendly. I've come in at all different times and I'm always treated well and served quickly. Reasonable prices and DELICIOUS sushi. Lunch specials are particularly good deals. Try one of the special rolls! They're always interesting. I love the Dynamite Roll.

Went here with my sister after a show. The staff was super friendly & kind. The food was amazing! We had tako yaki, chicken tempura, chicken teriyaki, some sashimi & sushi rolls (we like to eat). Everything was tasty & portions were generous. Definitely recommend & will return in the future!

Great fresh sushi! The octopus was great. The staff was great. I’ve never felt so welcomed by a staff before. We had a large party with a dog so we had to sit outside and they put tables together and brought water for our dog. They were also very helpful with the menu and it didn’t take very long to get our sushi. It was my birthday and they brought me mochi with candles and sang to me. It made my evening! One of the best sushi restaurants I’ve ever been to!

Excellent $15 lunch option! I haven't had a chance to come for dinner, but the two lunches I had here were tasty, quick and plentiful. The service is very quick and staff behind the sushi bar as well as in front of it is very polite. I'll definitely be back.

Stopped in on an incredibly busy Saturday evening for dinner solo, wasn’t sure what to expect as the place is very small but definitely worth it! I ordered a good deal of different types of sushi rolls and wasn’t worried about what I was spending as I wanted a variety. They had some interesting spins on some rolls I’d never had before, and I loved them! I had an appetizer that I wasn’t crazy about, but I think I was more in the mood for sushi at that point anyways. Service was good, very crowded because of the size but I was in and out in a relatively quick amount of time with great food and good service.

Awesome authentic Korean menu and really nice service! Next time I go in I'm going to have to try the sushi. I had the stone bowl bipbimbap - it was so fresh and hot! I ordered a side of kimchi to add some more spice to the experience. Everything was so tasty and filling; they let me bring the leftovers home!

We went on a Wednesday night and sat outside. The sushi was OK but had a ton of sauce. It tastes good, but if you enjoy the fresh taste of sushi, this didn't satisfy that. The main issue was that they don't serve alcohol. That wasn't readily apparent when we were searching for places to eat, so I was surprised when we sat down to order and discovered no alcohol.

Very small location, but great food! I stopped in with family in the evening and amazingly got seated right away. We took forever to figure out what we wanted, but everyone loved their meals. The restaurant was located on a busy street, but after we entered, even being so close to so many cars, the atmosphere turned calm and beautiful. The price was normal for sushi and the food was a great ending to the busy day!

Yummy! The sushi I ordered came out REALLY fast even though the place was packed. Servers were very attentive and friendly. The place itself is super tiny, prolly can't seat more than 30 people inside. But it's clean and cozy. Would definitely go back and highly recommend.

Came into town for a music conference and needed a place to eat lunch. I thought I'd get something nice to eat so I went looking for sushi. ATO was right across the street from my hotel (Amway Grand) so it was a pretty short walk. I sat down at the sushi bar and ordered shrimp tempura and a rainbow roll. They made the sushi super fast right in front of me and handed my plated to me. It was beautifully decorated and it looked amazing. Took my first bite and was blown away. This was some of the best sushi I've ever had in my life! I highly recommend this sushi bar.

Prices were too high for the okay quality of the food. Appetizers and sushi were alright, nothing too bad. But I, and my stomach, really met our maker with the watered down, bland bulgogi. Don't let the amount of people in the place fool you, the best aspect is the convenient downtown location.

Some of the best Udon that I have had in the Grand Rapids area! Despite its smaller size, ATO has managed to flood its room with beautiful decoration and delicious smells. I went during the evening, and seeing the light poring out from the inside when contrasted by the cold, inky blue of the late-night city life made my eagerness to enter that more demanding. However, the warmth did not cease at the door. Inside, the room was delightfully stimulating on the eyes with the amount of thought put into its design. It read as authentic and neo-traditional, but did not come off as trying too hard or overly modern by any means. The food was delicious! I had the tempura Udon, one of my all-time favorite dishes. They did not fall short on their food, even when stacked against my high standards for Asian cuisine. The portions are large and well-balanced. The pricing is as expected for these types of restaurants. The green tea I had also ordered was served in a very adorable little teapot, which I very much enjoyed using. I will say that I had to wait a little longer than expected for my food to arrive at the table. Despite that, the servers were very kind, but not overbearing. They occasionally checked in on my friend and I, but never swarmed us with continuous questions about our take on their food. It was a very pleasant interaction overall. I think that this restaurant would be perfect for a lunch or dinner date. The smallness of the room makes it less appealing for larger family get-togethers, but a one on one (or maybe even a 4-way) conversation would be well suited for the space that they are providing. Regardless, ATO Sushi has really outdone themselves in their food and presentation, and I encourage you to find this out for yourselves as well, and give them a try!

Good sushi with many options. Food is prepared quickly. A small dining room with 8 tables inside and some outdoor seating during the few months when that is comfortable. Reasonably priced for a meal right downtown.

Delicious! We were in town on a weekday evening, seated outside in very comfortable weather. Mango shrimp tempura roll special was DELICIOUS. We also had several other rolls and the hot stone bibimbop. Service was good and everything we ordered was really tasty.

I got one sushi roll and an order of the fried calamari rings. Both were great. Only complaint I have is my sushi roll only had 6 pieces vs the average 8 pieces I get from other restaurants. Besides that, food quality is a definite 5 star rating.

Nothing special, tastes like Meijer sushi. The rice tasted dry and had little flavor, maybe it was old rice or overcooked or not enough rice vinegar put on it. Not a huge fan of the nori. Not a lot of flavor in the rolls I had. Maybe it would taste better if it wasn't delivered or if it had more sauce on it.

Called for take out and it went very smoothly! She repeated our order and and 15 minutes later it was ready. They have sit in dining as well. We were staying at the Amway Grand so it was perfect, just right across the street. We ordered 5 different rolls because we couldn't decide and we were not disappointed by any of them. The edamame was tasty as well. Will be back again. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Grand Rapids has no shortage of great restaurants but ATO Sushi should be at the top of your list. The service is only outmatched by the high quality sushi. I had Hot Green Tea, Miso Soup, a Caterpillar Roll and 2 pieces of Octopus. The bill was $26.50 before a generous tip. I had eaten lunch with my local rep earlier in the day and everything was so good that I came back.

We tried this spot for lunch & really enjoyed it. The menu is extensive with lots of variety. We started with the tofu appetizer which was light & flavorful. I had the vegetable Udon, delicious. The broth is super delicious. My spouse had the stone bowl bipbambop which was also very good. We both love bibambop & ate it often while in Korea & this was just as good as any we had there. We will definitely return. Also, the service was friendly & fast.

The sushi was great. I wish they had more to offer in Thai choices, but they have tons of sushi options. The building itself is nice, and the seating is fine. Although seating is very limited during busy hours and events, they are professional and maintain a great eating establishment.

Ate here twice while staying at the Amway Grand for Grand Rapids Comic Con. Did take out both times. Food was amazing, especially the Korean dishes I got and the soups my wife got. If you like sushi or Korean food, ATO is a nice, quaint restaurant. Although I'd recommend eating at off times/days as there's not much seating.
