The pizza was good, and I didn't know what to pick from there amazing selection. The lasagna pizza was good, but the meat was not what I was expecting. I would not turn down a slice, but I also would not order it again. Their specialty pizza was delicious and I would happily eat another slice of the floppy goodness.

Just went here tonight for the first time and this is coming from an (East Coast guy) ! I was raised in CT right next to NY, I've been to NYC many times in my life, pretty much spent 26 years on the east coast and I can confidently say this.... This pizza is the closest you're going to get to NYC pizza in the state of Iowa! We ordered the garlic knots and the Margherita pizza along with a regular cannoli. Total order came out to around $35 , The pizza cost $25, the knots for 5 was about $5 and the cannoli was $4. I went ahead and asked one of the workers the story behind the place and with great detail and a friendly attitude was told the owners of the shop came to Iowa from NY and quite a few of the workers were from NY as well ! Very nice atmosphere in there, friendly staff, and AMAZING food !! Those pizza ovens were HOT, all our food came out in about 15 minuets and we tore into our dinner right in the parking lot, couldn't have been more pleased with the meal. The cannoli filling was delicious, soft, velvety and tasted so fresh, the shell was crispy and perfectly cooked. The knots were soft with crispy peaks and edges yet fluffy,soft and full of flavor !! And finally that pizza was delicious!!! Steaming hot, crisp bottom , beautifully cooked and thin just like in NY! the dough however is made in house, doesn't come from NYC itself but I'm sure the recipe comes from NY. We will absolutely be returning here and the slices are massive ! Great deal

WONDERFUL. I love NY style pizza and these guys nailed it. Very pleasant staff helped me out and got me a fantastic slice of classic NY Pepperoni pizza and a Pepperoni "bread roll" which was delicious and similar to a Stromboli. Love every bite, just the right amount of juicy flavor. Probably ate too much! Lol. I live out of town in Ankeny but I'm definitely coming back. Amazing.

Absolutely delicious 👌 Definitely on top my list of top 3 pizzas in Iowa ! I had the Sicilian Pizza and it was 🔥🔥🔥 a must try !! Don't call yourself a pizza lover if you live here and haven't had it lol 😆

We have ordered from taste of New York AT LEAST once a month for the past year since we discovered them. The only place we get pizza from. We tell everyone about them and everyone who’s had them says they’re top tier. We mostly get pizza but have once or twice tried other items off the menu and were pleased. Love supporting them, from what I am told owner is a great man as well. What a treat

My favorite pizza in the entire city! The kitchen staff there cranked out one great pizza after another last night while the restaurant was slammed. Glad to see them busy - our food was definitely worth the wait! If you're feeling impatient, it is really easy to order ahead of time through various apps. The estimated time provided was really accurate, too

Got pizza from the new waukee location on 9/1. Friendly staff of course (always are) but the dough was way too tough. Could really taste the flour, and there was no flop. Very dense. Still giving 4 stars because I believe they will resolve this. The JC location is perfect. Just a little tweaking to the new location needed.

The best pizza in Des Moines by far. This place sells by the slice or the whole pie, and everything is delicious. Come by and try a slice, you won't be disappointed. Wish I could give more than 5 stars

A Great place to get Authentic "New York" style Pizza. Tastes like it was made in Brooklyn, Great crust, fresh toppings and probably the BEST pizza I've tasted!! Barstool sports would brobably rate it a 9.7 to a perfect 10 !!!!

The pizza is authentic and tastes great. Be sure to adhere to the time when they estimate it will be done, I would not recommend to arrive early, or you will wait.

This pizza was exactly what we were looking for. We were craving New York style pizza. The sausage was cut pepperoni style which was interesting to us but still good. Make sure you order early on a Friday night because there will be a wait. The only thing I wish is that their were small size pizzas. We only saw large of the menu.

Incredible pizza restaurant! My fiance and I were in the area and in mood for pizza and found this place. It's the best pizza we've ever had! We ordered the lasagna pizza and only got through about half of it; thank God for the box the owner gave us; it lasted for lunch the next day!

This is as close as you will get to New York pizza in DSM. It's good. The place is small and they do good business during normal meal hours, so be prepared to take your slice with you. The TONY is good, but the lasagna pizza is better. Calzones are ok, but you shouldn't be here for them.

Great food! We definitely have leftovers! Only bummer is the paper plates... I get the authenticity of it all, but I would have liked getting multiple paper plates or thicker ones to stop grease from leaking through!

With so many pizza joints around these days its not easy to find authnetic new york style thin crust pizza. This place wins hands down. Its without a doubt the best thin crust pizza i've had in west des moines. Keep up the good work!!!

It was an OK pizza as far as they go. I chose the pepperoni pizza to see ehat they were made of. It was unfortunate that they have no salami, or capicola pizzas, i dont think they even have feta in the store. If there are options for these they are not on the menu. The pepperoni pizza was extremely greasy and that caused a loss in cheese flavor. They were on time, but pick up is 40 minutes which is a long time for a pizza. The girl at the register was apathetic at best. Three stars is because i'd go there again, but do not let them settle for mediocrity when there is no better place in town for good pizza.

Seek this place out to get a cheese pizza slice was for my toddler and I ended up eating half of it! The crew was was efficient and friendly. Locals are lucky to have a place like this in the area with a quality ny style pizza. I'd frequent more if I lived in the area.

Amazing. Went yesterday for the first time. Had a slice of the white pizza, the "meat lovers" and meatballs as an appetizer. I almost died and went to heaven. Red sauce is phenomenal. Everything was incredibly delicious. My family and i will be eating this pizza from now on.

Had a slice of the margherita and lasagna pizza, it was really good but the lasagna was a bit thick on toppings for me. One thing to note that worried me before coming was the pics on Google because all the pizza looked like it had gotten cold sitting out but they actually take what you order and throw it in the oven for a few minutes so it's nice and fresh every time. I will definitely be coming back.

So delicious -- this is my favorite pizza place in the DSM area. (We don't live in the area, but it's worth the drive!) The flavor is strong, the texture is exactly right, and the portions are huge! Service has always been good -- thanks everyone!

This is authentic New York pizza. The owners are from Brooklyn and so are hispanic pizza makers working with them. I know it's authentic I am also from there. Edit. They opened a new location in Waukee. 769 se alice rd. They even serve beer and other drinks.

I've traveled to Des Moines fairly regularly over the years to see family and friends who have lived there. To date, we've found the food scene somewhat underwhelming. That all changed last night with a visit to Taste of New York Pizza. We tried a wide assortment of pizzas, that were each unique and delicious in their own way. The lasagna pizza was amongst the best I've ever had. Kent, the gentleman working up front, was incredibly friendly, patient and helpful towards us. We really appreciated the great food, great customer service, and the reminders of our trip to NYC. It really was an authentic Taste of New York Pizza.

Amazing! We tried the pizza for the first time last night. The food was incredible! The pizza and wings were top notch. I worked in the Southside pizza business years ago - this place definitely beats those pizzas. Well worth the price for a pizza. It will feed a family or you will be eating off of it for a few days. It is so good, that I plan on having a slice with breakfast today. The only issue - it is so good that I may never want to get a pizza elsewhere! We highly recommend it. Thanks for everything.

Best Pizza in all of Iowa! They have so many different types to choose from and they all taste delicious! I also really love the Chicken Parmigiana Roll! Also the Staff is super friendly and very welcoming! It’s an all around Amazing experience! I highly recommend!

Tonight a man in a suit jacket delivered my family and I pizza and fried ravioli 30 minutes faster than anticipated. The sauce is flavorful, the cheese is generous, and the crust has a good flop to the center and crunch at the edge. Grab the arancini too, great stuff. Had this place twice now and it’s top tier, they don’t miss on flavor.

Best pizza in Iowa hands down. The prices are suiting due to the uniqueness of the food. You are able to grab a slice on the go or order a huge pizza unlike any other place. Slices take just a few minutes! Everything is either freshly made from scratch or shipped from New York! The workers are very kind and never fail to be considerate.

Came by with my sister today for a casual little lunch and was absolutely so surprised by how good the food was. I ordered the shrimp fra diavolo, and my sister had the veggie lasagna. Both were so delicious the generous portions were completely devoured before it occurred to either of us to take a picture. Can’t recommend this place enough. On top of the delicious food, our server Covey was so awesome. Funny, polite, and knowledgeable. This is my first time eating at a physical restaurant in months because of the pandemic and he truly made it a wonderful experience.

The food here is very tasty, and if you get one if the rolls, very cheap. The reason this is not a higher rating is that of the four things we ordered, two were wrong. We ordered a rice ball and roll and both were very good, but had the wrong fillings. If you have someone with allergies in your group, I would recommend avoiding this place. We have a friend who is deathly allergic to green peppers who would have been in trouble last night with what happened to our order.

AMAZING. I was born in Delaware and visited NY a number of times. Always missed NY style pizza on the east coast. This place truly is authentic and sooo delicious. Everything tastes fresh. We ordered a slice of the white pizza as well as a whole pepperoni pizza. The white pizza came out first and it was without a doubt the best crust I have ever eaten anywhere including New York! When the whole pepperoni pizza came out I was very disappointed in that the crust was nothing special at all. I have no idea if it was how they prepare a fresh versus reheated Pizza or if it was something in the crust itself. Overall this place has the potential to be as good as any pizzeria in New York City.

Surprisingly authentic and very tasty. I was in new York a few months ago and went into a place just like this for a slice. Pizza slices are big! One slice should be enough. Reasonably priced and they also have to-go ordering so you can get yourself a pizza to take home. Decorated well for the theme of the place. Take a minute to actually look at some of the wall decor. The owner was an NYPD officer and has some of his medals and things on the walls. Definitely worth checking out.

Well, I am not one to usually post about my experiences. But after going to Taste of New York Pizza recently, I had to. The place is extremely clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. We ordered a cheese pie, garlic knots, rice ball with sauce and cheese, and tried their baked pasta with vodka sauce. Nothing was left, we ate it all. Absolutely delicious... can't wait to go back.

Tonight, I went to Taste of New York in West Des Moines for dinner. I had never heard of this establishment before last night when a friend said she wanted to try it. I'm really disappointed I hadn't heard of it until now; this is definitely a hidden gem! When you order, you have the option to order a full pizza or pizza by the slice, and since I'd never been here, I chose two different slices: BBQ chicken pizza and traditional pepperoni. The slices come out piping hot and only take a couple of minutes to come out after ordering. The crust is crispy and everything is proportioned perfectly (no flavor overbears the slice) and the slices are huge and reasonably priced. The BBQ chicken pizza has a tangy BBQ sauce with a generous portion of juicy chicken pieces and is absolutely amazing. The friends I was with got the Italian ice and said it's absolutely wonderful (after deciding which flavor to get out of the 10 or so flavors). Taste of New York was voted "Best pizza in Des Moines", and I definitely understand why. We will definitely be back, especially since it's a small, family owned restaurant versus a big chain. I highly recommend this authentic New York style pizza!

Tried this place for the first time last week and fell in love with it! Liked the variety in the menu, order was ready quickly, and food was delicious. Everything tasted fresh and real unlike pizzas from chain places, plus the portion sizes were huge! Definitely recommend eating here!

Recommended to try this pizza and couldn't be more pleased. Ordered Neapolitan slice and an order of their Garlic Knots. The pizza slice was HUGE and scrumptious. The Garlic Knots come in two or five, and have a Marinara Sauce that has bits of onion in it and was delicious as well. The knots are a twisted soft bread and herbs that are very filling. If you haven't tried it you are really missing out. Their menu is extensive and their pricing very friendly! Worth your time!

First time visit, woman working the counter seemed to have an attitude and was very short. They had taco pizza today which wasn't on the menu so I assume they do specials daily. While it was good it tasted nothing like taco pizza, though it's worth noting the crust is delicious. Also got the special rice ball with meat, delicious and huge. The food will definitely fill you up though it is a bit pricey. Very small place and busy over lunch. Would try again to see if I like another slice better and see if service improved.

I like the pizza. Their ranch is great. Most of all, the service! I work nearby, and stop in here before work a few times a week. There are a few other close spots I could eat at where the food is good, but the service is okay. These guys always have a great attitude, and are super helpful. I am also on the service industry, so stopping in a place with great customer service before work reminds me how important customer service is.

This place is as close as you can get to a real New York pizza. Today we tried a sausage and cheese calzone. It was large enough for 2 and absolutely delicious. We also had a margarita pie which also was yummy. Also, like in New York, you can buy Individual slices so if you want a quick bite without leftovers just stop by.

Ordered take out, pizza was great! Salad was huge and super fresh & tasty. Calzone was pretty good too. Friendly staff, good food! Wish they were open on Sundays and Mondays though.

The two Pizzas that we get here are the Margarita and the Buffalo Chicken. These two pizzas are absolutely amazing! We have never eaten an entire Pizza when getting one due to the size. I found best way to reheat is in a oven, just turn on broil and watch for the cheese to start to bubble and brown usually about 3-5 minutes.

We just moved here from Staten Island. We are so happy with finding pizza that tastes like the best in NY. The crust is thin, crisp and chewy with the right amount of salt. Real mozzarella and pepperoni. We are taking home a Marguerite pie and zeppolis. I am full already. The owners were so nice and they gave us a list of other NY owned shop for deli and bread. This place will be a regular.

I can't speak highly enough about the customer service here. I ordered food from here, had a little trouble with the delivery, and Taste of New York Pizza made it right 100%. They sent out fresh, hot pizza to us. It was worth the wait. The pizza was absolutely delicious. I recommend this place 5/5 stars for the food and because the business is run by people that care about customer service as much as the food. Will definitely be ordering from here again and again.

This pizza has a unique and delicious taste to it, though it's also sits heavier than a generic mid-west pizza would. If you're a foodie, you'll want to go here at least once. I'd recommend trying their version of a pepperoni, and the lasagna.

While seating was tight. Food was quickly served. Be careful because the counter makes slices look small. They are huge hand stretched pieces of pies. The Pizza Margarita was good. Needed to be just a bit warmer so it would be stretchy. The garlic butter knots could also have used another few minutes in the oven. Very flavorful though, so don't go kissing vampires. Personally, while they use a good fresh red sauce, where I tend to prefer a long steeped and well seasoned version. Lastly we enjoyed the rice balls served with red sauce and topped with more cheese. I was hoping they would be like the sipoli orzo pasta balls I had in Rome. Close but not quite. Not bad by any means just not what my memory was going for. The service was kind for how busy it seemed to be. We will be back. The buffalo chicken looks very interesting.

Omg I am from New york and this place is true to its name!!!! I live in Wisconsin now and haven't found anything remotely close to a NY pie there. I knew as soon as I saw their menu had "heros" and "zeppoles", I was going to be in for a treat! Definitely didn't mess around with extra cheese!!! Wow! So delish! The ONLY downside to this place is that it isn't in Wisconsin haha. We will be ordering another before we leave to take back with us. Thanks so much for giving us that taste of home we so desperately missed!!!

This place rivals some of the best pizza I've had up and down the east coast. The slices looked a little aged, but we ordered a full 18 inch pizza and garlic knots, both were amazing. Fresh, homeade ingredients on hand stretched dough. Just perfect!

The taste of New York Pizza, hummmm, lets put this way. If you ever lived in the NYC Metro area for any length of time, then this place will bring back pleasant and tasty memory's of your local pizzeria. Where the pizza is made excellent every time, the smell draws you every time, the cheese is the BOMB,the crust is explosive and the owners truly treat you like a family all the time. Now if you have NEVER experienced NYC pizza in NYC then come by and get a taste of New York Pizza - this place is thee best outside NYC in all USA! Excuse me I need to go get a slice !!

Being a native New Yorker, this place makes me home sick!! This is true authentic New York style pizza!!!! As far as I'm concerned, this the THE BEST pizza in all of Des Moines!!! They also have the real Calzones, Sicilian pizza pies, Italian Ice and the Zeppoli is to die for!!! I always go back whenever I can. Wonderful, real NY pizza! Everything from the crust (perfect texture, folds without cracking) to the sauce to the toppings is amazing. The ONLY downside is it's pretty far from downtown Des Moines. Definitely worth the trip, though.

The pizza was pretty good. Wish they would use fresh mushrooms instead of canned. The online ordering through Slice was terrible. The order had quite a lag in transmission to the restaurant and the update that my order would be ready in 20 minutes didn't come until I he already picked up my order and was back to work.

Good pizza. As the name would indicate, it's New York style so it's big floppy pieces meant to be folded. The toppings are big and plentiful and they sell it by the slice but you can also buy a whole pizza.

Whoa! I can see why the place was top rated via Yelp. The pizza rivals anything I've ever had in the state of Iowa period. I plan on trying other amazing selections they offer here but they have a customer for life and spread the word on these guys. Amazing pizza!

Located in the old Nick-n-Willy's Take-and-Bake space, they didn't have to do much more than some kitchen mods and throw up some New York-ish wallpaper to get this place going. They're even using some of the old exterior signage. This is primarily a by-the-slice pizza place/ They have a fixed menu limited to twelve different slices. Might be nice if they did a unique "slice of the day" or something to add a little variety. You can order full 18" pies with whatever toppings you want to take home. The slices are great, the best in town that I know of. My favorite is their signature "T.O.N.Y." (pepperoni, meatballs, sausage). Probably the most unique slice is Lasagna...a slice of pizza that really does taste like lasagna. They also have sandwiches, salads, and rolls. Haven't tried them.

Good food, bad service. I went for lunch, it wasn't busy, I ordered 1 slice to go from a pizza that was already out. It took 7 minutes for them to physically hand me my slice of pizza. The whole time the cashier was on her phone, only ringing out two other customers in the mean time. The other workers spent most of their time rotating pizzas in and out of the warmer instead of preparing the orders (putting pizza on paper plates).
