It was a fantastic diner! Such great service! Our drinks were never empty and food was ordered and in front of us in like 15 minutes despite the place being packed! BTW, food was DELICIOUS! I'm definitely glad we stopped by on our way through Denver! They are in the middle of moving locations. It was a little crowded at the current location but still a decent atmosphere. Highly recommend!

We absolutely love this place. Between the delicious food, and fast, friendly service it's exactly what we want out of a breakfast spot. Honestly after coming here several times for breakfast my absolute favorite was their center cut pork chops. They were amazing! Juicy, tender and perfectly seasoned. Haven't tried dinner yet but excited to have another reason to come back!

Craving a classic diner breakfast experience? This is it. I had the Manchaka skillet on my first visit and I was throughly impressed. Fresh jalapeños gave a little zing, great portion, really tasty, satisfyingly simple. I'll be back for sure.

Love this place, I just wish it were a 24 hr joint. I haven't had a bad thing on the menu yet. It's all yummy. The Cuban Sandwich is one of my favorites, make sure to ask to have it pressed!

Everything from the food to service was amazing. Even though it was all simple stuff it couldn’t have been better. We enjoyed the fried pickles, Liver and Onions and the Mushroom Burger. However the Pork Green Chile was my favorite for sure. Danny the owner checked on us and was quite friendly and appreciative of our business and Haley was way on top of the service. We will try to go back again tomorrow it was so good.

Sam, daughter of the owners, welcomed a party of 6 during a busy time with sweet kid-friendly skills, that were later repeated by other staff. Danny's Carnation is a family restaurant with a rich menu selection. The only pain point is deciding which plate to endorse, because they were equally delicious - however if i had to pick, i'd get the blintzes with 🍒 again!

My FAVORITE place to go for breakfast on the way to the mountains. Unlimited coffee, crazy big portions-- think about splitting a plate. Can't really go wrong with any of the items! I always take visitors here for bfast, way better service and food than a lot of the glitsy hip bfasts that cost a fortune here.

Yum! The food was excellent. I had the Irish skillet, corned beef was meaty not fat like some places (thanks to the chef). They are covid prepared and our server Angela was great! The Staff is very friendly. I highly recommend visiting this place for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Never been here before and thought we’d try it as we were having our oil changed near by. I am happy to say we were very pleasantly surprised! The unassuming exterior and humble furnishings certainly don’t prepare you for how delicious the food is! My husband had an omelette, fries and a short stack of pancakes. I had the ‘California Benedict’ which is basically a regular benedict with the ham swapped for avocado. I am pretty particular about hollandaise sauce and their sauce was amazing! Our waitress was very friendly. We will definitely stop by here again!

One of my favorite places to stop for breakfast, I visit Denver once or twice a year, I always stop at Carnations. The food is great, you better show up with a empty gut, as the servings are large. This place is always rocking with customers. I’ve never seen this place with less than one table vacant. Lastly the staff, they work very hard and the smiles are not fake, their work ethic is rare to see. The owners must treat their employees well, plus it was good to see some of the same employees still working there before the pandemic. Keep the great tasting food and service.

My wife and my self have been coming here for at least 18 years. We live in Denver all our lives and I got to say Danny's carnations is by far one of the best restaurants arround. Sadly with our full time jobs and 3 kids we eat out way more than we should, and trying denvers culinary cuisine for 30 years. This place is at the top of our list. The food is amazing! And if your lucky enough to be arround when they make cheeseburger soup you have to give it a try. Danny and his team have been arround as long as I can remember. They have such high energy and great smiles and you always leave in geate spirits. You will find Danny him self working just as hard as everyone, walking and talking with everyone doing his thing. You have to give this place a try!!!!

This is not my first review of Danny's carnation. My opinion has not changed over the several years that I have been back in Denver. Danny and his entire family and crew bend over backwards to keep the food top notch and the service Supreme. On the weekends, there may be a wait but it is well worth the wait. Our favorite meal here is any meal we eat here. Breakfast always a great choice. We have our favorites from the menu. There are always specials to choose from. If you haven't tried this family restaurant, I recommend that you give it a try. I am sure you won't be disappointed.

I'm really glad I stumbled on this place this morning. Everyone is very friendly, they were slammed but still got us a table in 10 minutes. Food came out ridiculously fast as well. The food was unreal! The machaka skillet is absolutely amazing, pancakes are some of the best I've had. Sitting at the counter, I saw all of the plates coming out of the kitchen and everything looked delicious. I can't wait to go back and try more dishes!

This place is a gem. I'm not from Colorado but this place made me feel very welcomed. The Roast Beef sandwich was colossal and DELICIOUS, the staff was super friendly and very attentive. I'm from a small town in Alabama and it felt like the kind of service we get in local spots back home. I will definitely return and recommend it to friends.

Found this awesome local diner after running errands. Usually I stay & try the eateries in downtown where I live...this is definitely a place I’ll make the drive for! The ground beef Machaca w/over easy eggs & crispy hash browns was a hit!! Perfectly cooked eggs, hash browns were crispy & not burnt, green Chile had just the right amount of hotness. The jalapeño salsa on the side took everything over the top. Lots of regulars here & they all love the staff which are super friendly, attentive & helpful. Must support local & try this joint. I’ll be coming back!!

So much food. When we stopped in on a weekday about mid-morning, every table was full for the majority of our time there. We were seated right away and while we waited a bit to have our order taken and get our food, it was worth the wait.

The food was ok, the ambience leaves much to be desired, but the server joking about spitting in someone's water out loud for everyone to hear was really off-putting, as well as referring to me as Miss and Madame as often as they could. Were they trying to be funny in a mean way? Just enough to make me never come back... And I love diners and all day breakfast places! Comfort was definitely not found here as their sign suggests. Also, it's pretty pricey here.

On a short trip for my Fathers memorial and I needed comfort food. The smothered breakfast burrito fit the need. The green chili had just the right bite and nice chunks of pork. The eggs were superb and the potatoes hot with perfect texture. Service was prompt, professional and unobtrusive, and she had a nice smile. I will be back. Merry Holidays!

We attend Danny's Carnation restaurant approximately 2 - 3 times per month. The food served is high quality, with generous portions. Wait Staff are some of the hardest working individuals I have ever witnessed. Yet they have consistently proven to be very friendly and welcoming to their customers. Although this restaurant in not sleek, modern, nor stylish, it is a testament to old school Diners and their foundations of quality food and service. I highly recomend this friendly local business. Parking can be a tad tricky, so allow a little extra time.

Just went the other day for the first time in probably 10 years. It's a place me and gramps used to go together often. Great memories. Some friends and I went on a Sunday morning around 1130. They were super busy, but didn't seem rushed, or overwhelmed. We were told about 20 minute wait and were seated in probably less than 10 minutes. All they staff was super friendly and observant and quick to refill. They even had a table bussed and reseated beside us before the previous diners were out the door! Seriously amazingly ran, great food. Would definitely recommend

My local dinner and a Lakewood cornerstone. The place is always busy on the weekends, which in a sense is a happy problem. It shows the community that this is the place to gather. Danny himself is a really good dude who makes an effort to know each and every customer. Danny's adult kids also work there and seem to be just as dedicated. The food is what you expect from this type of restaurant and the pricing is reasonable. All in all it's been my go to breakfast spot for years.

First time there last weekend and it was packed! Waited 20 minutes for our table but it was worth the wait. The dining room was a bit crowded and hot, but the service was great and the food was delicious. There's a wide variety of options on the menu so you're bound to find something for everyone. Danny works right alongside his staff and was very friendly. He made us feel like regulars or family even though it was our first time in. We were seated directly next to a couple of regular patrons and they were also super friendly and raved about the food! We will be making this a regular dining destination, for sure!

I ate there about 5 years ago on a visit and I was sitting here in my living room in Ga where I live and started thinking about this place. We were there at least 5 times during our visit. I got chile relleno and it was amazing. I've ordered the same thing in other restaurants but other places don't make it like they did. It looks like it's not on the menu anymore. I wish this place was in Ga. The customer service was awesome as well

Food is good but pricey. Three adults close to 70 dollars. Owner stands over you if you stay to long and makes you feel like you need to leave. Not a fan of that. I also noticed he treats his employees condescendingly which made me feel sorry for them. Otherwise it's okay.

The food here is awesome, Danny and his wife are just awesome down to earth people. We used to eat here all the time when we lived in Denver. If you're hungry and want a good old fashioned dinner to sit down and relax with some good company. You can't go wrong with Danny's carnation.

My wife and I were visiting from out of town and were only 5 minutes from this spot. The breakfast was awesome! One of the best chicken fried steaks I've ever had. Plus, they had sausage free gravy and biscuits which I have literally never seen anywhere. Also, all the staff here were so friendly that I felt like I was at my aunt's house. Great spot

Been living in the area for 28 years and recently discovered this g e m. Danny the owner is the most personable person that I know and he's got a wonderful crew here that can get you in and out in a Flash reasonably priced food for the area and one of the few places that will serve breakfast all day as well as some traditional favorites. Did I say reasonably priced? Get there early if you want good parking for breakfast as it packs in pretty good by a quarter of 9 in the morning or a little earlier just depends on the day. I have brought several family members and Friends you can always count on this place for a decent meal. Don't miss going here!

They got us right in, and it was super quick service and you get a ton of food. We got breakfast and had the Irish skillet and the chile relleno skillet and hot cakes and eggs. Loved this place!! This was just a great place to eat. I had a girlfriend tell me she and her family had been eating here for years. The food was very good the menu is one that has a bit of everything serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. My friend suggested the mexican food which is my favorite. It was very very good. This restaurant is clean and was very busy and wait staff could not have been better. This is the kinda place you could take your family as the menu is so diversified it would satisfy everyone.

I have driven by the restaurant many times. The parking lot has always been full. I just don't enjoy eating at a restaurant alone. So my friend and I were near there and she was going on and on about this great place for breakfast. My reply was I bet I know just which place it is, and it was. The food was very good the prices are great and the staff is awesome!!!! However, what impressed me way beyond all that was everything on the menu you can order at anytime of the day!!!! My friend ordered the stake and eggs she said it was great. The meat was very tender with lots of flavor. I had oatmeal, I like real butter in my oatmeal. When I asked if they had real butter the waitresses reply was "we only serve real butter with our oatmeal". It was soooo good!!! Not the largest restaurant but you can't go wrong. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

I’ve lived Lakewood on and off for 20 years… HOW HAVE I NEVER BEEN HERE? I loved the food, the staff, the Broncos decore. They have cokes in a glass bottle, made Mickey Mouse pancakes for my kid (we didn’t ask) and I had one the best chili relleno plates ever — hand cut hashbrowns, Colorado pork green chili and crispy stuffed chilis. I cannot wait to return.

Danny's Carnation Restaurant is the place to go if you want a homey, friendly environment for eating out. Whether it is with friends and family, this is the place to dine in for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Staff is super friendly and always attendant to the people. Prices are reasonable for the food there as well! I would say my only critique is the space, since it isn't a very large restaurant. However, I'd argue that it makes it exactly what it is supposed to be: a local, one-of-a-kind family friendly restaurant. Great work!

I was in Denver for a surprise family visit and my grandfather insisted we go here for lunch one day while I was visiting. My grandfather is a WWII Vet who eats here at least 2 or 3 times a week. My grandfather, mom, and I went on a Wednesday for lunch. Grandpa and I both ordered the daily special of Sloppy Joes. The sandwich was huge! Messy, but worth it. I got sweet potato fries instead of the regular fries which is worth the small extra charge for sure! My mom ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and left no crumbs on her plate. Danny, the owner, happened to be there while we were eating. He stopped by our table to talk with my grandfather, find out about our meals, and fill up water glasses. He was very nice and engaging. He came back to our table at the end of our meal to let us know that another diner had paid for our meal. When we asked why, Danny informed us that it was due to my grandfather's service in WWII; the other diner was a Vet as well. Each time I come back to Denver, this place is now on my favorite list. I will dine here at least once during any trip in the future. My family recommends this restaurant to anyone wanting great service, yummy American-inspired meals, and a feeling of being part of the family.

One of the best breakfast restaurant experiences that I've had in a long time. From the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted by multiple people. Even on a busy Sunday morning, we didn't have too long for a table. We were seated and immediately asked by multiple people if we had been helped. The service alone would keep me coming back, but the FOOD...holy wow. I'm not sure what I was expecting coming in for the first time, but needless to say, I was very impressed with the food. I got the chili rellenos skillet with pancakes. WOW. They make everything from scratch in house. Can't say a bad thing about it. I'm excited to keep coming back and trying the rest of their menu! Awesome service, awesome food...can't ask for more!

My first time here, but definitely not my last! The Carnation omelet was HUGE and delicious! We had a Chili Relleno skillet (excellent green chili), spinach hollandaise skillet, pancakes, biscuits and gravy and 2 Mexican egg skillets. And every single dish was was amazing!! The man who sat us was extremely attentive and so nice! Our server was the friendliest (and oh so funny) waitresses I've ever had! She never let our coffees run out and we never had to ask for a single thing. We couldn't sit inside so we had to sit outside in the tent, which it was about 20 degrees out so we were nervous. Let me tell you not only was it clean, but so warm in there they actually had to turn on off 1 of the heaters! So no need to be nervous about sitting outside, I actually recommend that too! Outstanding experience Carnation restaurant!! Thank you so much and we will definitely be back!

They have a senior and kids menu, *Portions are amazing slot of food for the moderate price. -We had a party of with child the restaurant was so busy they had 40+ customers a true sign of a good place..! We didn't have to wait we sat quickly. The server was very nice and attentive, she took care of our child's needs very patiently. We had 2 breakfast burritos supreme and they were the size of the platter plate 10 inches long and 4 inches wide. The big breakfast had enough food for 2 people..! I love this restaurant! I have never even lived in Lakewood and I have been eating here since my daughter was a baby. She is 8 now! Granted, I only enjoy this place once a month or so, because I live an hour away. I am never disappointed with my order and I love bringing family here to try it for the first time! The owner is awesome, he treats his customers and employees very well. It's obvious to anyone who visits. There are employees who have been there since I started going, that tells you how awesome this place is! It's always packed but quick and efficient. I kind of consider myself to be a bit of a restaurant expert. I worked in this industry for 15 years and was an awesome waitress myself, on top of running a few small establishments. Danny's Carnation is about as good as it gets. I look forward to eating their food for years to come. :)

First time ever, definitely going to be returning! I love great breakfast spots like these. Heavy emphasis on green chili, which is indeed like the sign claims outside - out of this world! Servers and staff all very friendly, relaxed atmosphere, great selection of food, everything was fantastic, accurate, and fast. I had the machaka - which I absolutely recommend - and husband had the corned beef hash, which I sampled as well, the corned beef is divine. It was busy today but I can definitely see why, well worth the wait. We sat at the counter (which was very pleasant!) and the seat next to me was occupied by regular after regular, it was very cool to see the staff recognize them, greet then by name, offer them their beverage of choice without needing to ask, and whatever their "usual" might be - that is some good service and evidence of a great restaurant. Very reasonably priced also! We will definitely be coming back sometime soon.

Love this place! I was with a group, about six of us total I believe and even on a weekend where everywhere has a wait, it wasn't long at all. It's a casual diner type place and nothing fancy but has all the classics, as well as Mexican food items! Anyway, I ordered an omelette, it came with hash browns and toast....and you can choose either the green or red chili. I went with the green, as everyone at my table recommended it, &asked for it on the side. It was very good, I mean everything was. Big portions, for the price a very good value-plus the service was impeccable! Didn't have to hunt down anyone for coffee or water refills, which is always nice! Tip:You can also get a biscuit instead of toast with your breakfast, and then order a side of gravy and you have a litttle biscuits and gravy. All six of us loved the food and it was a good experience. Highly recommend!

Stumbled upon this place while here from Atlanta for a quick visit. Came back the following day, and would have a third time but we had a flight to catch! Both times the food was excellent, especially the Eggs Florentine and Country Fried Steak. Biscuits and gravy (added sausage) and pancakes were great, too. It's not the place to come for an intimate, lingering meal, particularly during typical peak hours, but it is a place we heartily recommend and will visit again when next in the area. Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. It was packed when we came in around 10:30 (Friday) but we only waited for about 10 minutes to be seated. The waitstaff was attentive and kind. Placed our order and the food was out in less than 15 min- even with a packed house! Above everything though was the food! I told our waitress that they have officially ruined me for other breakfast food and I wasn’t lying. We had a breakfast quesadilla and a fried steak skillet- both of which we well portioned and delicious. I will be back before leaving in town in 2 days.

I have never seen a team of cooks push out the quality and consistency of food like these guys. Well over two hours of full on press. It was nice to see the owner jump in the front and lead his team of servers. They handled the nonstop rush with an effortless ease. Unbelievably impressive

I research restaurants before taking a trip and I found Carnation Restaurant had tons of great reviews and was right on our way from DIA to Winter Park. We had a large group of 10 and Danny’s wife and daughter greeted us warmly when we arrived and treated us like family. We were sat quickly even though they were super busy. Danny and his son were incredibly attentive to our group and our waitress was great as well. The food choices are extensive and every one of them is delicious!! The atmosphere is very casual and Mom & Pop perfect. We had our 1 year old with us, and they played with him and made sure he was fed before the rest of our group since he was impatient. We could not have had a better experience! I would highly recommend this place to anyone who likes great food and an even better family of owners who make your visit memorable and perfect! It's a five star restaurant if you know what to expect! It's busy and it's loud (from being so busy), with generous portions of classic and mexican inspired breakfast food. BEFORE YOU GO, know that they won't seat an incomplete party, you all have to be there but you will still get seated even if you party is big. You can expect to be short on elbow room, this place gets packed! The food is worth it and despite being constantly busy, the food and service is still super fast!

My super picky 9 year old demolished his chicken strips and said they were amazing, which is Gordon Ramsay-level praise coming from him. Wife loved her Steak, said the peas were cooked perfectly and were delicious, mashed potatoes were PERFECT. My oldest son had the breakfast quesadilla and said it was also amazing, like my youngest, he cleaned his plate! First time here, we now wonder what we've been doing with our lives not eating here!

I hadn't been here in awhile and was surprised to see it all spiffed up with new signage on the outside and new interior including new booths, lighter nicer table and chairs. Unfortunately that costs some money. My meal of chili rellano skillet ended up costing $13 with tax and tip. Part of that is the increased minimum wage, but they deserve it. The food was pretty good except for the biscuits and gravy. It wasn't a good fresh made biscuit and the gravy was bland.

We have driven by here many times and drove right past because it doesn't look like much from the outside. But we've had a hard time finding a good breakfast place in West Denver and decided to give it a shot. We are glad we did. Most of the breakfast plates have a choice of pancakes or biscuits and gravy, which is a nice option. I had the platter that comes with french toast, and it was very good. My wife had the smoked pork Benedict. She enjoyed hers too. Only improvement I could see would be having more menu options with french toast as a choice. And the hash browns were on the dry side and almost undercooked.

Came for breakfast at 8:30 on a Saturday. The place was hopping but they assured us the wait wouldn’t be long. In under 5 minutes we had a table and before we were even seated they got our drink orders. I had the Denver omelette with hash browns and a biscuit and sausage gravy while my friend had the Carnation omelette with hash browns and an English muffin. The food came promptly and it was very good. I love an omelette where you can see all the toppings cooked throughout it, not just a rolled up egg with a tablespoon of goodies In the middle. All the servers kept an eye on coffee levels and kept the cups topped off. Denver Broncos is the decorating theme, everywhere but not “in your face” annoying. I’ll come back here.

If you are looking for bland food and poor service, this is NOT the place to go. My wife, children and I popped in this place and my goodness, what a pleasant surprise. The food was incredible. It is so nice to have fresh food with FLAVOR. While the food was wonderful, it pales in comparison to the staff. We were treated like old friends. The cinnamon ice cream was delicious, thank you. First time we ate here with my husband and 1 year old daughter. The exterior is nothing impressive, something you might want to pass. But the ambience and food is nothing compared to how it looks. A nice pleasant buzz from the afternoon lunch hour, clean tables, fast service, friendly and fast waitresses and really delicious food. My husband's swiss mushroom burger was impressive, huge, toasted bun, and a healthy helping of lettuce, tomatoes n onions. The onions rings were awesome, huge, crunchy and wont pull away from the shell. My fish platter was really good too, 4 decent size cod and fresh fries...even my daughter enjoyed it. Price is affordable around 7 to 10 per plate, but the portions are huge...so worth every penny. Would recommend this diner!

Surprise finding a greasy spoon diner this good. Fast friendly service and dishes with a twist to make them unique compared to any diner I have been to. The place looks like a used car lot. Upon entering, the full house and rundown decor may turn you away but turnover is fast and surfaces clean (mens room was very clean). You may sit down next to a biker or someone in a business suit with general atmosphere upbeat if austere. Prices are hard to beat for the quality and size of portions. The coffee is the best (on strong side) of any diner I have been to. Hopefully they never change a thing. Update: returning to this restaurant I am rewarded by resisting the temptation to order what I love here. Breakfast quesadilla outstanding.

Oh, what to say! We have been coming to Carnations for years! It is our absolute go-to for diner style breakfast, fabulous sandwiches, amazing comfort food and creative daily specials. Danny, his family and the staff are so friendly and genuinely strive to please. I have literally never had food that wasn't awesome here, no matter what we've ordered. Kids/seniors menu has so many choices, which we loved when ours were younger. Now my teens swear by the gyro and beef chimichanga. Cute atmosphere, lots of Bronco love, they do get pretty busy so sometimes a wait is necessary, but a lot of the time we're right in. If you're in Lakewood, you can't go wrong here!

Typical and classic breakfast options galore. All your favorites are here. I went with the biscuits and gravy with sausage. The only thing I wish was different was if the gravy and a bit stronger sausage flavor. My wife had the choice sirloin with hash browns, eggs, and pancakes. It was a very substantial amount of food. Sure to please! Very busy and a bit loud on the Saturday we went, but I guess that's what you should expect on a weekend morning at a popular breakfast diner.

The Carnation serves, what my husband calls, Big Food meaning large portions & tons of potatoes with meals. I give them 3.5 stars because while the ingredients are good, the kitchen is a bit rushed; onion pieces may be large & served rawish; green chili lacks punch; pancakes are fluffy but the syrup lacks flavor. The staff IS awesome, and the food IS better than chains' so we're happy customers. I will try some of their signature dishes and review again. Perhaps those will bump the Carnation up to 4 stars.

We have been repeat customers at Danny's Carnation Restaurant since we moved into the area more than 20 years ago. It is a nice, clean place to pop in for a cuppa n cake or for b'fast, lunch, or dinner. Recently, I've been hooked on watching Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares where he whips ailing restaurants into shape...good communication on the line and keeping the orders coming. Danny's Carnation is completely in line, front to back. I was greeted immediately at the door with a smile and warmth. Since I was waiting for the rest of my party to arrive, I waited for only a few minutes, but the greeter offered me a coffee while I waited. Our servers were friendly and checked on us often. Let me say, the food was fast and delicious, the best Eggs Benedict I've had, ever! I will definitely be a regular here!

Danny's is one of the best bangs for your buck you'll find around Lakewood. The Machaka skillet is one of the best breakfast surprises I've had. The ground beef they use is so flavorful, and their green chili sauce ties everything together. The hosts and waitresses are always friendly, and even though it's small and often busy, you never feel cramped and never have to wait long for a table (10-15 minutes tops usually, except maybe on days like Mother's Day).

They have a large variety on their menu. Their Huevos Rancheros are excellent, huge serving. They are pretty good at basting eggs, and that's hard to do. They also have very good biscuits and gravy. Service is fast and friendly.

Great little hole in the wall that we drove by for years (as it didn't look like a place that you would go out of your way to eat at), and boy were we wrong! Great local hangout for homemade, delicious, large portion meals. Breakfast, lunch, dinner menu. Small restaurant but offers smothered burritos, chicken fried steak (from scratch, not frozen), steak and eggs, skillets, pork chops, burgers, fish and more. My first time there last Saturday. Ordered their daily special (leftover from prev nites special) of prime rib smothered burrito. LOADED with meat. Second visit three days later and ordered the Hungry Man's breakfast: bacon, sausage, ham, eggs, hash browns, and choice of french toast, cakes, biscuit and gravy, or toast. $11.50. With friendy and efficient service. Go try it out!!

You really need to try the Red Hot Hamburger.... It's really not hot, it is a great red chili burger though, and add chopped onions, and a free side of mild salsa, and you are in for a real treat.... If you are looking for a great local diner with a friendly atmosphere then look no further. Danny runs this place just like a small town diner where locals are always welcomed and it's easy to get to know people. Just be on your toes during the breakfast hours if you don't like your coffee to be topped off before you finish a cup as the "coffee ninjas" are excellent at sneaking up and filling your cup.
