I came here because it was featured on a television show so I thought I'd see what the hype was. I was really impressed with the food. The burgers are very large. We bought the western burger and the topless burger with french onion dip. They were both served with very large patties. The western burger came with the regular toppings and fries. Very tasty and well made. The French onion burger came with a giant glob of French onion dip. It tasted very good with the camellias onions and mushrooms. The fries were delicious. Overall an incredibly great exclusive and will definitely come back next time I'm in Columbus. The atmosphere is divey and nice staff.

A very characteristic and unique place in the German Village of Columbus. I wasn’t expecting anything fancy, but the environment is different and definitely pub-style. I liked it very much because it is way different compared to other new cool burger places. Food was very good. I loved the fries (the gravy is very delicious) but especially the burger. I got the “Thurman Burger” and it was huge. I was struggling to eat it, but every bite was delicious and I really liked the quality of the beef. It will be probably in my top-3 favorite burgers in Columbus. I suggest everyone to try it and I’ll definitely go back there soon!

My word for this joint is phenomenal! Wow, smack your momma delicious burgers! Everyone enjoyed their meal! The burgers are huge and incredibly juicy! I ate the blue cheese burger and couldn't stop eating because it tasted so good. Eventually, I had to because I couldn't stuff another bite in. But trust me I took what I had left home and enjoyed it the next day! Our service way excellent. And for as poppin' as that place was she did a fantastic job keeping up! Overall, I highly recommend this The Thurman Cafe if you're looking for the best burgers you can find Columbus. We will definitely be returning! Tried the A1- Burger today! It was also phenomenal! Looking around you notice things you didn't see previously. It's like a time capsule in there! I just love the food and the atmosphere! Amazing!

Stopped here after hearing it has the best burgers in Columbus. The atmosphere is kind of like one of those run down bars that everyone signs their name on the wall or whatever. The service was really good. The food was pretty good for being bar food. I got the Thurman burger and it was gigantic. Extremely tall to the point you needed to dislocate your jaw to take a full bite. The ham they put on it was cold which kinda messed with what was going on because i got to the center and it was cold. The burger was really messy to eat, you had to full commit and not let it go and even then the home made patty still kind of broke apart while eating. This thing really needs a flatter patty and wider bun to make it easier to manage. Overall the flavor was solid. Definitely not the best burger ive had but it is a solid choice.

Great local bar that's ALWAYS busy. You WILL have to wait for a table. Monster burgers are great. They will be well done unless you ask otherwise. Free pour on drinks is nice. They have other food, but who goes to Thurmans and doesn't get a burger? PS- parking is a wreck. Just park 2 blocks away and walk. You'll be glad you did after finishing your burger.

The food is amazing. The burgers are HUGE and very well seasoned. The fired bologna sandwich is on point for sure and definitely recommended. Come hungry thought the portions are not skimpy at all.

We got the fried mushrooms and the fried pickles. We also got the American Burger and the bacon burger with Swiss cheese and mushrooms. I added a knife and a salt shaker for comparison so you can see how big these burgers are. They are absolutely delicious and some of the juiciest Burgers I've ever had. I travel nearly an hour for this burger and it is well worth the drive. As you can see from the photos they forgot to bring our chips but they brought us a basket to share later. I just wish they would have brought two smaller plates with our chips so we weren't reaching into the same bowl. But all in all this is an amazing restaurant that is always busy and if you're willing to wait it is well worth the wait.

Holy cow! 10/10 place. Hole in the wall but amazing! Amazing atmosphere, amazing service, food, just everything. You will not be disappointed in the slightest. During my visit I had to wait 1.5 hours for a table but it was 1000% worth the wait. I live 2 hours away from this place but will make that drive just to experience the food, atmosphere and experience again. Picture is featuring their Hawaiian burger.

Lucky to come on a slow day day and seated right away. I'm not usually a fan of larger burgers but this place has perfected it. Absolutely delicious. I see why it's voted one of the best places for burgers. We will return and try all the other options and loaded fries.

The food was delicious. Had a couple burgers and a chicken sandwich. The fries are SO good. Huge portions. Not as greasy as I was expecting. And, even though the patties are over an inch thick they were not dry. Extensive menu - something for everyone. Service was friendly and attentive. They were happy to talk to us about the menu items and their favorites. This place is not a "cafe"/restaurant. It's a bar. They have about 8-10 bench tables to sit at. It's pretty dirty. Overhead table lamps were dusty. There was food on the floor under our table. Had to brush off crumbs from the benches. Bathrooms weren't well stocked. One toilet was clogged. There was tp and paper towels littering the floor. If you're a germaphobe this place is going to bother you. If you can overlook the dirtiness you're in for a treat.

Finally made it here! And it did not disappoint! Service was so fast! Burgers were cooked to perfection! Burgers were some barley fit in your mouth, sized bugers! Also had the fresh cut fries which were delicious as well. 100% recommend. Went on a Monday around 12:30, was not busy and easy to grab a table!!

Love these old, family run, hope in the wall cafe's. Service was impeccable, and food was great ! And a place where they understand how to make a quality, BREADED, onion rings, they are the best I have ever had, and very hard to find these days. And the fries are great also. It's a hard place to get into, but we'll worth the wait.

Have been wanting to visit this place since I saw it on Man v. Food years ago. Stopped in with my partner on a whim and got a table immediately. Great beer selection. Service was friendly and quick. Portions were generous, come hungry. Enjoyed every bite of my Thurman burger and will be back in the near future. Highly recommend!

1st time eating in person and it was such a treat! The Thurman burger was amazing i was only able to half but boy was it great. The all day breakfast fries were good loaded with bacon and gravy. I can't wait to come back. Great service and cool atmosphere!

This place is great. The fried mushrooms are HUGE and delicious, and the Thurman burger and the Thurmanator (jumbo gyro not pictured, but also yummy!) Were incredible, or as our visiting Dutch friend would say it, "that's brilliant"

What a great little place. They have some of the best burgers I have ever had. The 3/4 lb patties seem overwhelming but they are just the right size for these burgers. The shared staff makes it so there is always someone around to help with drinks/orders. The only drawback is the wait you may see at busy times but it is worth it. Also note the parking is all parallel parking on the road.

I was recommended the Thurman Cafe for it's excellent burgers. Not just in size but also for quality. An incredibly easy place to miss for the first time but it fits in the area like home. Now to describe my amazing night with the detail this place deserves. One of the first thoughts I had regarding my meal was before it even got to the table. I saw another burger that had just one patty and thought to myself how massive it already was. The wonderful smell wafting from just a few feet away didn't help my hunger pangs either. I was ready for my food. After waiting for a reasonable amount of time for how large the burger was ( two of them at that ) I was met with a breathtaking view as it entered my field of view. Shock and awe was the most apt description fitting at the time. After sizing up my adversary literally and figuratively as I struggled with where I could possibly manage my first bite. I went with the top bun and part of the first patty. The first thing I noticed was, for how truly large these patties are at 12oz each they were cooked through consistently as well as being filled with flavor. They were firm but not overcooked and hardly fell apart as I fought to keep both hands around it. I could also tell the fixings were farm fresh and didn't detract or distract from the focus of the meal. After several bites and losing focus on trying to keep everything in some sort of manageable order I tore through that burger as if I'd gone on a fast before a doctor's visit and that was my first meal after 36 hours. I don't remember every bite I took nor how long it took for me to finish but I do know now looking back that the Thurmanator took over first place as my favorite burger ever eaten. It replaced the heart stopper from a restaurant in Portland, Oregon and now I can't wait to see in ten years what could possibly top the Thurmanator. "Get to the Thurman Cafe!"

I’ve been trying to get into this place for years. Sadly it seems that every time I tried there was at least a 2-3 hour wait and thus I’d go elsewhere. This past Sunday I was FINALLY able to get in with a handful of my family members alongside me. I’ve always wanted to try to dominate the Thurmanator after seeing it on Man Vs. Food. But before I get into that, I’d like to say that my family ordered a variety of burgers and the fish sandwich. All were very reasonably priced and HUGE portions! The “kids” burger made the Big Mac look minuscule but I digress. On to the main event. I ordered the Thurmanator which came with a big side of fries and a pickle spear. I am proud to say that I absolutely dominated this plate leaving no crumb behind. The burgers were well cooked and delicious. The fries were a tad greasy but still delicious (we’re talking bar food people) and much better than most restaurants. I was very pleased with the overall service, price, value and taste as were all of my family members with their respective orders. I’m only giving a 4 star rating because nobody on the staff acknowledged my domination of the Thurmanator. No t-shirt, no photo and no congratulations, etc. I kind of thought dominating a burger that was featured in national tv was kind of a big deal.

Amazing, GIGUNDO burger! I had the Rad Shroom burger...mushrooms and horseradish cheese. Soooo delicious! The hand cut fries and onion rings were good too! Super small, maybe 7 tables in the whole place plus a bar. We went during off hours (1:30) so we did not have to wait but it was full!

They have won best burger like every year! This is the bacon burger. Its huge! Great service also. Nice little neighborhood bar type of restaurant with the worlds best burger. We got there put our name it, they said it was an hour wait and ended up only being 45 minutes. We ordered a beer on draft which was a North High Hefeweizen. We ordered a Thurmanator and a Macedonian Salad. Let’s talk about the Thrumanator first, MASSIVE. The Sautéed Onions and Mushrooms were amazing. The cheese was great, just - plentiful amount. The Ham was a bit unnecessary but it fit the Thrumanator vibe. Fries were solid as well. The Macedonian salad was really refreshing with the feta cheese and dressing. Overall it was a great divey place with lots of good history.

The turkey reuben was excellent as well as the onion rings. The chips and fries were decent too. The burger has way too much meat, you can't eat it like a burger and just end up using a fork. But I think that's what most people go there for so maybe I'm not the best judge!

We enjoyed our visit and the atmosphere however be prepared if you go that it was pretty expensive. My husband and I each got a burger, a small appetizer, sides (onion rings and fries), and iced teas... the total was almost $70!

It's hard not to love giant, well made burgers! There's a lot of options, and it can take a little bit to cook the large, juicy burgers. Plan a little wait time for food. Service is decent, a bit of a mixed bag. Typically they take care of stuff, but aren't always chummy with everyone. The price is good. It can take a while to get a table at busy times.

This place should be at the top of your list to try if you are in Columbus, Ohio. Not only are their burgers unbelievably massive, they are tasty, and the vibe of this place is super fun. The service was incredible each time I visited. The waiters were personable, kind, and helpful. Parking is difficult due to the part of town it is in, but it's worth it. Make sure that The Thurman Cafe is somewhere you try before you leave town!

It was a long wait for us, but very much worth it for the food. The portions are pretty massive and taste great. My Bleu Cheese Burger was absolutely mint. The atmosphere is nice. Just a generally dingy loud bar feel that works very well. You can also pick the music that plays through an app, letting you customize the experience a bit. Overall a great time. I'm looking forward to going back.

Stopped by for lunch on a Saturday, there was about 30 minute wait at 11:30. Once seated we found a delicious menu of different options from appetizers to wings to burgers to pizza. We each got a burger and they were HUGE!!!! I could not finish mine. The server was friendly and made sure we had drinks always full. The food was DELICIOUS!!! Will definitely return in the future.

We had to wait about 30 minutes for a table, which was fine as we had nothing else going on. We were able to grab drinks and take them to the lobby which was a nice touch. Strong drinks! Three of us got burgers, which were nothing super special. Creative burgers? Absolutely! Best burgers ever? Not so much. I got cheese fries and they were the best part of the meal. I got the Reuben pizza and that was pretty good! The waiter/ bartender was beyond amazing!

This is one of my food spots. There all nearly 20 different sandwiches to choose from, all consistently good. The jalapeño popper #15 tasted SO good and feels clean and fresh to eat. I’m picky about my deviled eggs but theirs are delicious. Super chill environment. Staff is ALWAYS kind. You MUST try their cake for dessert. I’d post a pic w this but I’ve already stuffed it in my gut.

Nothing spectacular. If your in it for the wow factor it is a tall hamburger that needs to be smashed down with a spatchala. Don't waste your time trying to eat it like normal, it ends up on your plate in a pile. Made better burgers on the grill. Fries are good tho. For all you city slickers, get out of the big city and find you a good ole hometown bar in rural America you will find better burgers. 100.00 for 4 burgers and an appetizer. 👎

This place is GREAT! Atmosphere is small hole in the wall sport bar vibe but really a hole in the wall. Tons of characterand charm. Including the StrangerThings pin ball machine, customer service is top notch. The whole restaurant takes care of you not just your server. Burger was PERFECT MEDIUM cook and Huge! Amazing value for money Only complaint is i prefer my burgers have a bit more seasoning. Still a good burger and fries were perfect as well. Over all this a MUST VISIT for any out of towers and a staple for any locals.

Wanted a good hamburger 🍔 and I knew Thurmans was a good place to go because of previous visits. However, today was different the food although large portions was just okay and service was okay also. Maybe the lack of service was due to the time we went (early dinner) but it was not that busy inside. We will be back again and hopefully it will be more like the old Thurmans...

Love the whole experience of The Thurman Cafe. The food is always delicious and the servings are huge. My favorite is the bacon and Bleu cheeseburger. Yummy. Make sure you're hungry. An added bonus was that at 5:30 on a Monday, the dinner crowd was just getting started. I got seated immediately. I always suggest this place to visitors.

Excellent. They have a huge selection of "burger specialties" and they all sounded great. We had three different specials, and all of them were consistent in size, and all tasted delicious! They start with a full 12 ounce hamburger, and it's huge. Wide variety of toppings, interesting flavors and combinations. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table (the place is small), but I would have gladly waited 30 minutes. It was well worth the wait. I just wish I lived local so I could try them all!

Everything was delicious we had a great time my daughter loved thier new super thin crust pizza. The burgers here can not be compared to any other burger, they are in a class of thier own. If you haven't tied this place yet what are you waiting for great food is passing you by. Service was definitely subpar; waitress was inattentive. Burger was ok at best- Couldn't imagine this place being a top spot for a burger in Columbus but it is. Must be due to the size. Price must be due to size too. Also didnt like the fact the have signs posted outside saying outside seating is for their customers only- its a bench! Decor seemed pretty trashy. Probably wont be back. I'm sure this place is better the drunker you get though but not for me. Parking is a nightmare!

Hit this place on a non-stop 32 hour 2,000 mile road trip from Connecticut to Colorado in an '81 Camaro Z28. We were about 700 miles into the trip when we pulled in to eat for 1 hr. At that point, the cold 24 oz PBR they serve hit the thirst spot. Not many places serve the 24 oz can. We ordered the Thurman burgers because - why not? They were awesome, but it is a food challenge not for the feint of heart. The fries are da bomb! Def get fries no matter what you order. Staff was super nice, service quick, and prices very reasonable. Highly recommend this place.

This was my first time eating at Thurmans. The classic cheeseburger was cooked to perfection. It was huge but wasn't dry and packed plenty of flavor. I wasn't too impressed by the Rueben, though. It wasn't that much meat. Once i took the bread off to add the thousand island dressing, there was no meat towards the edges of the sandwich. All the meat was in the middle. It looked like a big sandwich, but fell short of one.

Saw Thurman's in an article about Columbus eateries. Went with my grandson & his wife. Off the beaten path....beer was cold, all 3 burgers were amazing. You actually knew you were eating a burger. Basket of fries were good....I just prefer my fries really crispy. Atmosphere was laid back, all employees were super friendly, helpful and kind.

Food and atmosphere were incredible! Small, cozy place with a great staff! My only issue was the hostess. The blonde, curly haired chick. She didn't smile and greet us, tossed the menus on the table and walked away. All she did the whole time was walk around the restaurant with her hood up, vape inside, and mean mug everyone. She made us feel very unwelcomed. We were eating for approximately 90min and she didnt smile 1 time. She just hid away in her hood and vaped away. Other than her, we had an amazing time and will definitely be back!

The Thurman Cafe is not what I would call a cafe. I would call it a small bar. A small bar with friendly staff and great burgers. Alone with the burgers, I would recommend the onion rings. They also have other items on the menu but sadly they never reach beyond the level of bar food. But if you are in the mood for a better than average burger you will enjoy yourself here.

Thurman Cafe is the casual dining experience you'll be compelled to return to at least twice a year. Rather you try something new on the menu or have your old favorite. The experience will consistently be amazing. You'll be greeted graciously at the door with a smile, have delectable food beyond the burger. You'll have options from RINGS & THINGS, salads, pizza and jumbo whole chicken chicken wings, with the added bonus of timely service. Sometimes there's a wait but you won't be disappointed. They have added the takeout only restaurant next door which is nice.

Thurman's has the best, biggest, burgers in Columbus and for the best price. Their patties are 3/4 lb, which is massive. They are handmade patties and incredibly delicious. Love the atmosphere, the wait staff and the food. Couldn't recommend this place more. Seating is first come first serve, so expect a wait any evening.

Thurman’s ... be prepared to wait, but it’s worth it. There’s plenty of space during your wait as well as pop corn. It’s a small dive, and it’s delicious bar food. The Thurman burger is enormous. Fries are amazing and hand cut. We also got a grilled cheese, beer battered. Geese curds and fried cordon bleu balls. They have really great honey mustard and ranch, too.

Small place . Unique decor . Most importantly they have the best burgers. The jeager (sp) burger was to die for and cooked exactly like I asked it to be . My husband had the Thurman, he said it was also delicious and clearly could have fed two people. I also had the pretzel bites with honey mustard, the pretzels and honey mustard were amazing and just as good as Schmidt's which has my absolute favorite pretzels . Prices are great ! You get an enormous amount of food . Almost forgot the French fries with beef gravy were also wonderful ! We will definitely return !

Pack your patience! The day we went it wasn't terribly busy, but it took about 35-40 minutes to get our food. The burgers are huge, and they do taste good. It's a pretty eclectic place with different signs, license plates, and drawings on the walls. The staff were friendly enough. It's more of a tavern than a cafe, so there were loud conversations and colorful language, but it wasn't too crazy. Overall, it was alright.

Woah. All I have to say is woah. My experience here was absolutely awesome. Pictured here in the photo below is a beast by the name of the Thermanator(burger). It has amazing flavor and can make you feel many feelings - ranging all the way from sheer joy to pure regret. I kid you not when I tell you this burger is larger than the average humans head. It is MASSIVE. If you are going to make an attempt to consume this burger, don't stop until the task is complete. I you take breaks, you are 100% more likely to fail in this task you have set out to complete. Drink water. Not lots of water, but enough to keep you going. You will be glad you drank water. Trust me. Also pictured are their wings. Not many people know it, because they are known for their burgers, but in my opinion, they have the best wings in Columbus. 10/10. I got the Thai wings (kinda spicy but not really) and they blew my mind out of the water. The flavor was amazing, they were perfectly cooked, and I ordered 12 and wished I had gotten more. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. In my opinion, they have the best burgers AND wings in all of Columbus. The staff here are awesome, friendly and will gladly have a conversation with you. I was happy, satisfied, and very very full when I left. Ps. Yes yes, I did finish the burger.

Anyone looking for homemade food and small town feel…this is the place to go. It is at the south end of Keystone. Not touristy feeling. Very relaxing. We got our food fast but not in the fast way that makes you feel like they are trying to get you out as quick as possible so they can get more people in. You get a lot of food for your money. NOT overpriced at all. It was clear that it was a local favorite. Sometimes vacation can be a little stressful with trying to fit so many things in in a short amount of time. This is a good place to just relax, breathe and enjoy some good down home cooking. (Don’t forget to tip the cooks as well when you pay. After all…they are the ones that made the wonderful food you just ate)

Very glad we ventured to this spot from our hotel in Short North. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon around 1 pm and were seated immediately at the bar. Our service was prompt, warm, and inviting. Drinks were cold local taps. The menu was a bit scattered organizationally, but offered some great traditional bar fare! We grabbed stuff poblanos for an appetizer, which were well portioned and a fun start. For the main course, my fiance and I decided to share an order of wings and The Thurmanator burger. The portions for both were obscene, but in a fun and playful way. Both the burger and wings were spot on and left us satisfied. Staff happily provided us takeout boxes to bring leftover back to the hotel to keep snacking :-) This cool little local hole-in-the-wall was one of the highlights of our trip to Columbus.

This is the most iconic burger spot in Columbus, and rightfully so. You better bring you're appetite if you're coming here! The burgers are HUGE with no exceptions. Apart from any toppings, the patties themselves are extremely juicy and flavorful. They have plenty of amazing burger options; whether you stick to something simple or get tons of other ingredients stacked on, you will be eating an incredible burger! They also have lots of unique french fry concoctions, wings, apps, and pizzas (don't come here for pizza). The fries are okay, but the onion straws are superb! You can always expect a wait at Thurman's, but it's well worth the excellent food, atmosphere, and service!

This is a neat Cafe/Bar, tucked away in a residential area. Inside it is just loud enough, with tight accommodations. Expect a wait at general meal times. Staff is super friendly and quite responsive. Everyone there is there to help, you won't just have one person handling the entire meal here. The memorabilia is pretty neat, plenty to look at while waiting on your much anticipated meal. The wait is a good thing, the burgers are thick and done right. A Delicious must have experience. I've been going to thurmans for years and it's always been an awesome experience. From the atmosphere and great selection of beers on tap to the iconic burgers. You will not leave here hungry or unsatisfied. The burgers are big and juicy. Mouth dropping freshness on the ingredients even in the winter time. The burger are not greasy and don't leave your arteries too clogged. The only downside is the wait. As this is a popular spot in town you are generally going to have a 30 minute to an hour wait on the weekends with a first come first serve policy. But no worry. Order some drinks and kick it in the lobby with your crew and enjoy.

I would recommend Thurman Cafe to everybody. We had about an hour wait on a late Saturday afternoon but it was well worth it. The food was great and I was just as impressed with the service. Unlike most places where you have one waiter or waitress, it seemed that everyone working took care of all the tables without bugging you, kind of like they knew when you needed something and you weren't waiting on whoever is supposed to be taking care of you. Also, everyone of them were very pleasant, not annoyed that they were at work like a lot of places these days. The only thing if I had a problem at all, is their menu is too big, but I guess they would keep you coming back and not getting bored with the same thing. The highlight, if you're a coneydog fan, that 1lb hotdog is a BEAST!

Burgers are big and the patty is seasoned well and juicy. You gotta try the wings, but they serve the whole wing, so order carefully. Not from Columbus or America but I've been there 3 times already and I will be back for more.

Thurman Cafe is always a treat. We usually go during the Arnold Sports Festival weekend, which is busy but an experience. Other times of the year there isn't much of a wait. Everything on the menu is made with care and isn't your run of the mill burger joint fair. I highly recommend the Thurmanator, but everything on the menu is delicious.

This was out second time here... Love it! Seating is limited, so expect around a 40 minute wait minimum if the place is full already. The wait is worth the fun atmosphere and gigantic food. Headed to the famous Thurman Cafe to celebrate my Carolina Tarheels winning the National Championship and challenge the Thurmanator. Well, unexpectedly walked into a tiny waiting area and I have been warned there could be a hour or 2 hour wait. Going into this not believing a place could ever be worth a 2 hour wait, my mind was truly changed once my experience continued. We were able to walk to the bar in the dining area, the bartenders were very up beat and happy to meet everyone walking up to the bar even with a full house. The owner himself even made us his special signature cocktail. Yes the wait wad long, yes the space is tiny and yes it was worth every little bit of it. Our waitress was great and had fun with us. Now I can tell you first hand, you better have your big kid pants on to tackle this burger because is a monster and amazingly good

I was honestly really excited to try this place because there is so much hype around it. But their host, a dude with dark hair and glasses, was pretty off-putting from the moment we walked in. They were not very busy at the time, it was early dinner on a Sunday. There were only two parties ahead of us and he told us there would be an hour wait. I was shocked because it wasn't very busy, and we almost ended up leaving but decided to wait anyhow. Much to our surprise we were seated in ten minutes. The food was good. I had no complaints, but I definitely didn't feel it was one of the best burgers I'd ever had. Our waiter was nice and accommodating (although I asked for a booster seat for my daughter three times and they never brought one). Overall it was a decent experience, but their host was clearly trying to deter people from coming in (he told multiple people an hour wait even though it clearly wasn't). Not all the hype people make it out to be, but a good restaurant.

I had the Thurmanator several years ago and on a recent trip back to Columbus I decided on a carryout cheeseburger. I found Thurmans which now has a carry out next door to the cafe. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and a small fry. What a mistake! The monster, juicy burger and heaping order of french fries was not designed to be eaten while sitting in your car outside the cafe. It was so delicious that I couldn't stop eating until it was gone. The result was nearly a food coma, not necessarily what I wanted for my drive 2 hours home to Cincinnati. Would I do it again? Absolutely not, I would spend the night so I could return the next day for breakfast.

My boyfriend and I are not in Columbus often, as it's a decently long drive, but when we are in town Thurman's is a must! It's that perfect "hole in the wall; everyone knows your name" kind of establishment. It's pretty small so occasionally you may have to wait but it's worth it! The food is delicious (we always have a burger) and the staff is amazing. They may be a little "tongue in cheek" for some but we absolutely love it as it makes us feel like we've know them all for years. If you want some delicious food served with a cold drink and a side of laughter then this is the place for you.

I wish I could give it a better review. The place is famous for it's burgers. I was excited when I arrived. Right off the bat the first thing I tried to order, the chicken wings, I was told was not available due to an increase in the price of the chicken. All right, let's try again, I now tried to order the pretzels. They came back a few minutes later to tell me they also do not have pretzels. Finally I gave up on appetizers and ordered a burger. It took the burger about 30 minutes to arrive and while it was large and did taste good, it did not really impress me. I would give it three and a half Stars if they allowed me to give half Stars. I would go back if my friends wanted to, so I'm not saying it's not worth trying, but it just wasn't for me.

I had the bacon burger (AMAZING), the loaded bacon fries (AMAZING), and the boneless wings (AMAZING)!! Everything was perfectly seasoned, HUGE portions and customer service is great! After seeing stellar reviews, I decided to have a visit. One expects an out of the world experience but what we had was plain ordinary burgers sold at a premium price tag. There was weed smell inside (probably a bum costumer had it on him/ her so I cannot blame the establishment but it tells something about the type of people coming there). The service was good and food was ok yet as I said not worth the hype. I would probably not go there again.

The Thurman cafe has a lot of ambiance feeling more like a neighborhood bar more than anything else. The service was excellent but unfortunately I cannot say the same for the food. Not wanting to eat the star attraction which happens to be a whopping pound and a half burger I order the fish platter. It was tasteless with breading that was thick and rock hard. I returned it and ordered the chicken tenders instead which were not any better. If you are hungry and looking for good food to eat you are better off going elsewhere. If you are looking to just chop it up with friends and have a couple of drinks while eating a few appetizers (the pizza was greasy but good and so were the fries) then I would highly recommend for the atmosphere and down to earth friendliness of the staff. I gave it 3 stars but change it to 4 because of people and location but definitely not the food.

The burgers there are the best. Only matched by the friendly and fun service. There can sometimes be a long wait because this is a very popular place seen on Man vs Food TV show. We luckily got right in. The decor is roadside diner kitsch. They have an obscenely large burger called the Thurminator that is probably enough for 4 people and it's the price of one specialty burger at some other place not to be named. Full liquor bar if you are so inclined.

We rode down to Columbus from Cleveland Mar 13 because I wanted to spend some time on Short North but specifically went down there to try Thurman's. And the good news is it did not disappoint in the least. Fairly busy so we knew we'd have a short wait, no problem. So we went to the bar to order drinks while waiting. While ordering the drinks a couple seats opened up at the bar and the bartender offered to rearrange the stools to seat my party of 4 right then and there, which was awesome. And when these sandwiches came out, they were so awesome! I personally had the A-1 Thurman burger, which is cooked in A-1 sauce, it was crazy good! So good drinks, great food, and a great staff👍 That menu was really interesting and I'm excited about my next visit there to try more

Went here last night (I live an hour and a half away down in Cincinnati) heard this place was a great burger place so me and a friend drove there. BEST BURGER IVE EVER HAD, hands down, it was ginormous and tasted amazing. We both got the Thurman Burger and man it was worth the price. Aside from the food, the place was intriguing, you could look all around the place and still miss half the things hanging on the walls. Also, the staff were very respectful and able to work with food allergies easily. Definitely will be talking this up and coming back!

I came here after going to the Columbus zoo, with a whole crew of my hungry brothers (and one girl) and we were all STARVING. And let me tell you, the service was amazing. But, when the food arrived… I knew this was it… dear lord these burgers were so good. It was like god himself descended from heaven to feed us his personal best. I had the rueben and I was completely full, but I wanted so much more of it. The mind was willing but the body wasn’t. My friends both got the “therminator” (sorry if I misspelled that). It was bigger than their heads. So yes, I would highly recommend anyone in their right mind to come to this restaurant. You will not regret it, and you will never want another burger other than one of these!! Thank you so much!!!

Ok literally one of the best burgers I ever had. Fries boardwalk beach style and delicious. 12 oz burger what ? The bad ..,the bun….need a better bun. It was a soggy mess in no time and don’t get the iced tea which was watered form at best . But we are going back to this gem !!

If you don't walk out feeling like you're about to burst you haven't really been to Thurman cafe! Highly recommend trying it! Will definitely be visiting numerous times.

Great local tavern. Very friendly service, and you better bring your appetite, the burgers live up to the hype - they are HUGE, 12oz monsters. We had a bit of a wait for a table (about 30 minutes for a table of two), but it was worth it. They had our drinks and food orders back to us very quickly. Very fairly priced menu as well. Definitely recommend this one.

The food and environment were amazing! The burgers were huge and delicious. We also enjoyed the fried banana peppers. There was a 45minute wait due to us having 8 people in our party but while we waited for our table, we got drinks from the bar and ordered appetizers which came out quickly (they had small tall tables and benches in the waiting room to use for drinks and food)

I love this restaurant!! Everyone is always so lively and pleasant. If you plan on having one of their famous burgers, bring your appetite; at 3/4lb not including toppings, they're not to be sneezed at!! The appetizers are pretty good as well. The menu can get a bit pricey, but you definitely get your money's worth!!

This was our first visit as we were travelling and someone said we needed to stop at Thurman's for a burger. The service was good and the hamburgers were huge and delicious! We definitely could have shared one. The restaurant is very dark and the seating is horrible. They only have uncomfortable booths.

Good food, came out a little slow but I feel it’s necessary to wait a little because of how big the burgers are. We came from Dayton, Ohio. The only real big complaint I have is the host. He was literally seating people while playing games on his phone. I don’t even think he ever fully looked up. It’s like he was paid to play on that thing. Place is pretty good but I’d invest in an employee who didn’t stare at his phone & actually respected customers. It’s very rude to never sit your phone down, even while dealing with your guest.

Burgers the size of your head. Fresh cut zucchini fries, French fries, and onion rings. 100 other things, but the best burger I've EVER had!!! For all the ranch lovers.... that ranch will make ya smack someone!!!!! Get some on your forehead... your tongue will beat your brains out trying to get to it. Fantastic service. This place probably doesn’t need anymore good reviews. But I’ll write one anyways. My friend and I went here knowing nothing about the place, not from the area and just passing through. There’s plenty of street parking and the restaurant was easy to find. It was a little bit of a wait (35 minutes), which we didn’t mind, we weren’t in a rush. And wheelchair accessible, except it would of been tight in the restaurant. The staff was extremely friendly and was always ready to clear our plates and refill our drinks. We never had empty glasses, which is pretty important to me. The menu consists of their famous burgers and plenty of choices, as well as other chicken and roast beef sandwiches, their hand cut fries cooked to order with different toppings, also fried items, salads, hotdogs, apps, all of the everything. The burgers were quite substantial. I don’t know how I finished my “TC burger” (12 ounce burger with cheddar cheese, pickles, lettuce, onions, and thousand island dressing - special sauce on toasted Texas toast —-a BETTER Big Mac) it was delicious and I just couldn’t stop, the fries were on point but the chips were kind of stale tasting. There was something interesting to see everywhere I looked. To me, I wouldn’t bring babies or children there but that’s because it’s a bar. And unless you’re in a Reese Witherspoon movie, you don’t bring them. Hah. But I suppose you could. We sat at the bar but behind us, 10 recent grads of a local high school squeezed into a booth and all had a competition to see who could finish a thurmanator burger, fries and pickle first. Let’s talk about the thurmanator. This burger has 24 ounces of ground beef, lettuce, cheese, pickles, tomatoes, onions, banana peppers, mushrooms, and probably a slew of other things, plus hand cut fries snd a dill pickle spear. It’s probably about 4 lbs of food. This kid, gosh he looked like a kid, all of 18 yrs old, finished his meal in about 20 minutes. When he stood up, he uncurled his body and straightened it out as he stood up, this kid….stood at over 6ft 5 inches tall. Crazy. I feel like only a high schooler could take down a burger like that. Anyways, great food, cooked my burger just right, everything minus the chips tasted great. Amazing service friendly staff. Very good overall experience, very happy with my meal and experience. No pictures. You’ll have to go there yourself to see and taste how awesome it is.

Summer 2017: I am very impressed with this place. The burger I had here was definitely in my top 5! Great staff. I would give this place 5 stars if there was no graffiti in the restroom, and uncomfortable seats. But besides that, great experience. Thank you.
