Nicely done and juicy meats located in a charming old house. The staff were pretty helpful with helping us understanding some menu questions. We had the brisket, pulled pork, chicken drummies, and the sausage. I think the brisket was the standout - it had a nice crisp outside with a tender and juicy center. All of the meats were good, though. I do wish they had some better sauces. There was a sort of yellowish sauce that I enjoyed, but they didn't have any non-sweet sauces.

Stopped in here on the way home from the Indy 500 based on Google reviews and was not disappointed. The juiciest brisket I've ever eaten and the beans were exceptional as well. Would have loved to try the ribs as well but they were out since it was later in the evening. If I'm ever traveling I70 through Columbus I will stop here whether I'm hungry or not!

This was my first visit. The service staff seemed a little indifferent, but the food was good, and it was a good overall experience. I got a sampler type meal, which had ample amounts. Although they were out of the chicken, they substituted another item. They said their brisket was the most popular item, so I got extra of that. The pickled onions were the best of what was provided. Really great! The best of the meat offering was the sausage, in my opinion. Followed by the ribs, the pulled pork, and then the brisket. But all of it was good. I had the collard greens and cole slaw, and both were good. As I said, the pickled onions were fantastic. The pickle slices were really good as well. The sweet bourbon BBQ sauce was way too smoky, and I didn't care for it. The spicy hot BBQ sauce was good. There was a third option, but I didn't try it. If you're in the area, and looking for BBQ, this spot is worth a try.

Great brisket sandwich. The bun was amazing. Corn bread wasn't my fav has a smoke flavor. Overall not busy and cool atmosphere! Not a fan of any of the sauces.

The ribs are huge, but was bland to taste. The sause helped with that. The brisket and pull park sandwich was great still bland, but drowned it in their sauces. The mac & cheese great flavor, but needs more cheese. Overall will eat there again.

I am a little worried that it is located so close to my work - I am definitely going to make this a recurring spot on my eatery rolodex. Location is great, and the ambiance inside the mansion-esque establishment is really cool. Portion sizes are really quite great, for the meat and for the sides. I had the brisket, and it was good - had a great bark on it, but did not see a smoke ring - juicy and flavorful, but not the best I have had in CBus. Coleslaw is different, but I liked it - seemed like a mix between mayo and vinegar base. Spicy brisket chili was pretty tasty, great way to re-use the brisket scraps, but I think a little heavy on the fatty pieces (flavor and spice on point). Pricing is absolutely on point, really surprised they can keep it so reasonable given the crazy price increases on brisket and food in general. The services was great, the guys working today were quick with their work and very engaging. I enjoyed the experience and will be back.

My favorite BBQ spot. Brisket is the best I’ve had. You can tell they want to provide high quality sides - they all hit the mark. Max n Cheese and Collared Greens are my favorite. Don’t sleep on the Brisket Chili - it’s so good I’ve had to order it in 90 degree summer heat to get my fix. Great spot to check out if you’re ever in the Capital City.

Yesterday I tried the brisket and the sausage. I am in love with the sausage but the brisket was half fat. With these prices, it was a major let down. Not sure I would try it again. Service is always quick though.

Food was delicious. I had the ribs (Tennessee whiskey sauce), greens and cornbread. The ribs we super juicy and tender, the greens were a bit too vinegary, and the cornbread could have been a tad sweeter. Overall I had a great experience destroying my food.

Smoked is a solid BBQ joint. Not the best in the world, but definitely one of the better options in Columbus. Great environment and front patio for warm days.

Been waiting to try this place. First thing the sides are pretty small compared to other BBQ joints. Mac n cheese was super creamy with tons of cheese. The greens had a tad bitter taste but we're nice and Smokey with a fair amount of meat in them. The main course was brisket on a premium bun. I ended up tossing it aside to get to the brisket alone. The brisket was super moist and totally good smoke. Typically places ladle broth on it, not here. Bun was delicious on it own after soaking up brisket juice. Is it a little pricey compared with other places, yes but will I return? Heck yes. People running the line super friendly and helpful.

heard there was a new BBQ place in Cbus so we had to check it out. So glad we did! The brisket and the pork were delicious. Moist and smoked to perfection. They don't put their sauce on it, which I think is fantastic. You have 3 choices of sauce. The sweet whiskey was very tasty. The Victorian home is really cool. I loved the way they incorporated the old with the new in their decor. One of the best parts of our dinner was that I got to drink a Lone Star beer. I've never been able to find it Ohio. Great BBQ and great beer! It's a definite must try if you love BBQ!

Went there for the first time today, and I got the pulled port sandwich combo. Side choices were cole slaw and Mac and cheese. Everything was absolutely wonderful, priced very well for columbus, and I will be back soon!

I love to have dinner here with the family. My 3 year old lives the pickles and mac and cheese and well... I do too! The brisket is to DIE for and I have never had chicken so tastey! There are small tables, bar tables, and large family tables but it is very small and cozy. Try their sauces. I love the sweet and spicy and it is JUST that. So perfect.

This is a phenomenal BBQ joint in the Columbus area. The menu selection isn’t overwhelming which is always a plus for me. Simple and to the point. The staff was great and the restaurant was clean. On to the food. I ordered the Brisket sandwich with the macaroni and cornbread. The portions were quite large and I definitely left with a full stomach. The brisket was moist and the sweet bbq sauce was a great addition. The prices are pretty steep so be prepared to easily spend some cash, especially if you like a beer with your bbq. Overall, solid barbecue.

Awesome location for a BBQ joint. It's in an older house converted to a restaurant with a front yard with tables. Centrally located and the parking in the area is reasonably convenient. I loved the brisket here and though I was a fan of the Mac, my kids were not (can't always teach good taste). I was not particularly impressed with the ribs though, and the sauces weren't my favorite. Overall, the quality and service was excellent, and I love the vibe, but not everything on the menu was to my liking.

My friends and I came here for restaurant week and they offered an entree, one side, edamame, and a brownie. First off, getting a parking spot here is difficult, especially on a busy night. We finally found one and the restaurant different from our expectations; it looks like a remodeled house! There's not a ton of seating, but can serve a decently busy night. They have a line style ordering process and you pick your choices as you move down the line. Staff was very friendly and nice! Their ribs were delicious, not dry, and seasoned pretty well. Their mac & cheese side was really good and their edamame was okay, nothing special or significant. Their brownie is very rich, decadent, and very sweet. I recommend coming here for some good BBQ, a casual date, small group hang out, or family outing. It was a quaint and cozy place, I enjoyed the chill atmosphere.

Man, this was great top to bottom. I've now tried both the sweet and the spicy sauce. (Sweet is good, but spicy wins!) And the meat is ridiculous and melt in your mouth. The cornbread is sweet and just the right amount of moist. Hell, even the buns rule. And don't get me started on that mac & cheese...gooey and flavorful. I've heard that some complain about the seasonings that are added. I am not one of those. Bring it on! The pork is good, but do the brisket. It's worth the extra few bucks.

My husband and I had the ribs from this place twice now. The ribs are great! They are by far the best ribs in Columbus. Very meaty with a great smoked taste. Highly recommended! We did takeout both times, so can't really comment on inside service. When we arrived both times the ribs were waiting on us for takeout - no wait time!

I went here with my boyfriend. We got there around 6:40pm and by that time they had sold out of ribs and had chicken, brisket and pork left. We got the brisket sandwiches and the Max and cheese. We tried all 3 kinds of sauce but my favorite was the Gator sauce- the mustardy bbq carolina style sauce. The brisket was so tender and much better than City BBQ- even towards the end of the day they clearly don't let their meat sit around to get tough here! Ordering sides and reading the menu was a little co fusing and the sides are all ordered separately the sides do not come included. We paid around 32 bucks for two brisket sanwiches- 3 sides of the max and cheese, and a corn muffin. It can be a little pricey but it was delicious.

This brisket is what I imagine Howard Wolowitz' mom would make. Melt in your mouth with full bark and all the flavor! Drove 5 hours from Kentucky for business and now I'm gonna have to figure out a cover for driving 5 hours again for some more BBQ.

Brisket was juicy with a good bark. Slaw was creamy, with a nice peppery finish. Cornbread was actually a corn muffin, but warm and moist. Pucker Sauce was a little too spicy, overpowering the flavor of the meat. Sweet Whiskey BBQ sauce was good. Gator Sauce was great. Will definitely visit again to try the pork! 👍👍

This place is hands down some of the best BBQ I have had outside TX. I went on opening day and got the brisket sandwich with gator sauce. It was incredible. The meat portion was very good size and the bun was fresh. I had the "Max n Cheese" and cole slaw as sides - both very good. I'm really looking forward to coming back here for the pork sandwich and ribs ASAP. Also, can not wait to come in the evening and have beers on the patio. Overall, I was extremely impressed by the look of this place, the owners friendly personality, and the fantastic meal. This is a huge addition to the Columbus BBQ scene and will definitely be a regular spot for me!

First timer! Friendly and knowledgeable staff. You can smell the smoky aroma as you walk towards the building. I ordered the brisket and ribs with collard greens, slaw, pickle chips and pickled onions. I also ordered the sweet whiskey bbq and the Pucker sauces. Service was quick and the staff was friendly & engaging. The brisket was cooked perfectly, with a beautiful smoke ring.... delicious!! The spareribs were equally delicious. I prefer a little more pull when biting off of the bone. The slaw was awesome! The collards had a wonderful flavor, but were slightly tough. I also enjoyed the flavor of the pickled onions. The sauces were amazing! Expect some heat with the Pucker...a quick and non lingering heat. A special shout out to Bill for his hospitality and bbq conversation! Looking forward to my next visit!!

Well update on the Food.... Flavors of Brisket, greens and Mac n cheese was Great. But portion size was very disappointing it's eqevalent to a kids meal portion size so you will definitely have to order twice the amount for an adult meal size. GREAT spot for BBQ! We had the brisket — best I’ve tasted in years. Loved the cole slaw and pickled onions. This barbecue is the real deal. Best bbq I’ve had in Columbus! The gator sauce is everything I want in a Carolina sauce and the meats are perfect. The sides do not disappoint. I had the Mac and the slaw. My only criticism is the unnecessary use of single use plastic and styrofoam. Easy fix!

Definitely some of the best bbq place I’ve had so far, I’ve tried quite a few places (including some from Chicago, which they’re supposed to be famous for good food) nothing has beat this place yet. Everything was so damn good, sauces were super yummy too. The gator sauce pairs well with the brisket. Only thing I don’t hate, but don’t prefer us the spiciness of the sausage, still super yummy though my partner loved it! Will continue to support. I recommend going as soon as they open! 10/10❤️

Been here twice, and both times were really, really good. It's a little hard to find, as this is south of the city in what appears to be an old two story house! The front lawn looks like the lawn of any house, and you walk up the steps and through a normal front door. Even when you first step inside, you feel like you are in someone's home. But the food. WOW! The smoked andouille sausage is really flavorful. The side of max and cheese is good, and the spicy chili is just that - spicy! I don't know if they still have them, but the pickled onions were delicious. I would have ordered a plate of just those they were so good.

If you find my reviews helpful, please let me know! I drove 20 minutes out of my top try this place because of the reviews. Although there was almost 2 hours until closing and it was a Saturday, they apparently had nothing at all let except sausage. This place has a rating of $$ - I'm not sure how that's possible when a rack of ribs is over $30 - yes, over $30! I asked about a brisket sandwich and was told it was $12...that is definitely NOT $$ price rating. To be fair, they may be fantastic...but without any stock, I couldn't tell you. The sides seemed decent on the pricing, but small portions from what I could see from the cups. I gave 3 stars because of the decor and staff at least seemed friendly enough.

I've been here before and I just got this again today and it was very good. I got the brisket with the sweet whiskey sauce and the mac and cheese and it was all very good. They also have a good system for pickup where they leave the bags in the front for you after you order online. I would recommend it to any barbecue lover.

Dynamite brisket sandwich, terrible ribs. They're pretty cocky about their ribs and claim to have won awards with them. While that's probably true, you need to be consistent in the restaurant industry. The ribs are untrimmed spare ribs and the ones i got were not good at all. There was no smoke ring and the fat wasn't even remotely rendered. Paying $20 for 6 bones is very steep and the quality needs to match the price. I probably won't return because the price point is too high for the quality they offer. Columbus has plenty of BBQ joints and this one stands out for the wrong reasons.

Smoked On High was incredible! The mouthwatering pictures from Instagram are no joke - this place was delicious. I had the brisket which was juicy and flavorful - the fatty outer crust (?) was the best part. My wife had the ribs, which were massive and had a wonderful bite to it. We both dislike barbecue that is too soft. The meat was tender but still had the perfect consistency. We both found ourselves drooling over the sauces and the mac and cheese was spectacular. So far, the best barbecue I've had in Columbus (or really, anywhere 😂).

This is by far one of the best barbeque spots I've ever been to. The prices were fair for what you were getting, the brisket had a nice char but was still juicy and tender, the homemade cornbread was delicious, the homemade sauces were each fairly unique and extremely flavorful. The chili though was my absolute favorite, not spicy as in burn your mouth but spicy as in flavorful and a nice heat. Will recommend this place and visit whenever I'm in town.

Really nice people inside. Greeted me kindly, and they have an easy setup for pickup orders. They were kind enough to throw in an extra half slab of ribs for me! I got ribs, Mac and cheese, the brisket chili, and a brownie. The Mac and cheese was great. The chili was good and hearty, and it definitely has some spice to it. The ribs were very good with the mustard BBQ sauce. My fiancée isn’t big on BBQ, but she couldn’t stop ‘trying’ it (it’s a good thing we got an extra half slab!). The brownie was pretty terrible (it was like a chocolate rock), but that’s okay. Overall, this is my go to BBQ spot in Columbus. The super nice people working there alone are enough reason to go back.

Top notch BBQ. The Brisket was top notch not certain if I have ever had better. Great smoke and tenderness. Flavor out of this world. The greens were also incredible you are doing yourself a disservice if you don’t try them. The Pork was also great easily on par with anything I’ve had in North Carolina aka the home of Pulled Pork. Don’t sleep on the smoke drumsticks either. Overall everything thing I had there was great if you are in Columbus and like BBQ and haven’t ate there then go right now. 10/10

Great BBQ for an awesome price. We didn't know what to order so Anna and Alex helped us out with some options to get a meal for 2 of us situated. They were very friendly and helpful. We got 2 meals and a meat only option and there was more food than 2 of us could finish. Everything was fantastic and the sides were great. We ordered the brisket, pork, and sausage for the meats and had cornbread, coleslaw, and Max n cheese for the side. Great flavor for everything and the Victorian house converted restaurant was really cool. They also have outdoor seating if you want. Would highly recommend and would definitely return again.

My husband and I drove in from Chicago on a Saturday evening and had read great things. On our way in, another couple told us, “Good luck!” because they’d already sold out of the ribs and brisket. But we went to the counter anyway and snagged one of the last orders of chicken dipped in the sweet whiskey sauce and two pork sandwiches. The food did NOT disappoint!! Loved the meats and also really dug the “max and cheese” and collard greens. The cornbread was perfectly sweetened, but would’ve loved if it were slightly warmed. Will definitely return when we’re back in Columbus. Great, quaint and cozy atmosphere - and wonderful service. (Alex and Adam were awesome. Since we were the last people inside, we got to take some of their leftovers home with us. GREAT service move!)

The brisket is incredible. Just perfect. Huge smoky taste. Great crust and the fat is rendered just enough to be perfectly buttery and silky smooth. The ribs are fall-off-the-bone perfect. Homemade sausage is FANTASTIC! Try the Carolina mustard based Gator Sauce. It's my personal favorite.

I went there today for lunch. At first the menu looked like a smaller version of City BBQ. The Brisket was far better then City BBQ and the portions were amazing. The Mac and Cheese was the best I have ever had. The dinning room was very nice, a converted old house. I will make it a regular lunch spot.

I’ve lived in Atlanta, Memphis, and Texas. So I would like to think I have a good perspective on BBQ. Smoked on High is legit and can hold its own against ALL of the greats from any of the aforementioned BBQ homelands. Don’t miss the fall apart Brisket, cornbread with the spicy chili, and of course the ribs. Guys at S.O.H. don't mess around.

Oh my that brisket!!! It is perfection! It doesn't need any sauce but I got the sweet whiskey to try and it is wonderful also! Sides are good, everything is good! The setting in an old Victorian house makes for a wonderful dining experience! We will be making trips to Columbus just for this place! (We live an hour from Columbus)

A backyard BBQ feeling place is a very welcome and needed addition to German Village and Max has created a really fun establishment out of a super old, historic house that used to be a law firm before it. But the best part of my first visit was the perfectly smoked brisket. I got the platter with the Mac and coleslaw and tried all sauces with the traditional KC style sweet and spicy being my favorite. For a quick hitting lunch the sandwiches are reasonable and for dinner springing for the platter is still on par with what you'd expect for a solid ass BBQ experience. And they have craft beer cans, a nice bonus. Overall the service was great, and will be back for the ribs.

This is hands down the best beef brisket in the city. I thought I had good brisket before, but they proved the other places wrong. The brisket is the juiciest I've ever had. Also, it is flavored perfectly. The cole slaw is the perfect match of crisp, tangy and sweet. Don't get me started on the mac and cheese. It's too good for words. I love and hate Smoked on High. They showed me how good brisket could be, but made it hard for me to enjoy other BBQ in town. It's worth waiting until they open on Wednesdays for.

Smoked is a unique and enjoyable experience from the moment you approach the old little house til you step back off the yard to the sidewalk. The BBQ is superb and provided completely different flavor tones than what this Carolina boy is used to, and I've never had mac&cheese the way they do it (wish I had the recipe). Portions are large. The owner and staff are friendly like you've known them for years, and just as helpful in serving & advising. I will be back over and over again.

Probably the best BBQ I have had in columbus. The sandwich had a TON of meat on it, and the bun was amazing. The pulled pork had great flavor and was smoked perfectly, but was not overwhelming with smoke flavor. The Mac and Cheese is very cheesy and has a slight garlic and herb flavor as well. As good as I hoped it would be. Fills the void for a much-needed quick-service BBQ restaurant in Columbus. The location and the building are spectacular. Reason enough to come hang out. Then, the food! All the flavors are unique, which will keep me coming back. Whiskey-flavored BBQ sauce and Max-n-cheese, which is better than the standard plain mac-n-cheese that other places have. Lightning quick service on opening day, too. Better opening day experience than any place I've ever been to.

Love BBQ, so I had to try the most hyped new spot in Columbus. Brisket is legit and after trying the 25$ all the meats meal I would suggest it over the others. Pulled pork was just that, neither here nor there. The sauces were really good but let's be honest good bbq needs no sauce. So let's get to the ribs. If you are wondering, they are fantastic. Moist and full of flavor. I Did not care for the mac and cheese or the cold corn bread but the cole slaw is better than 90% of the competition. Overall I'd say this is a great place but I won't be driving across town again.

Smoked On High is my favorite casual barbecue place in Columbus. Good selection of entrees, with pulled pork (my favorite) and brisket available as sandwiches or "skinny" (no bread), chicken, and ribs. Meat is flavorful and nicely balances being lean enough while remaining juicy and tender. Sides include mac & cheese, corn bread (as excellent muffins), and coleslaw. There are three distinctly different sauces, each of which represents a different type of BBQ, and all of which I like. The food has authentic BBQ credibility, is delicious, and is reasonably priced. The staff are friendly and helpful as well. Definitely recommend Smoked On High.

Very unusual for me to give five stars to a new establishment on my first visit. There's always room for improvement. In this case, the only improvement will be the patina that only time can bring. Though in a great old historic home, the newness of things needs to wear off a bit. For my first outing, I wanted the meat, the whole meat and, nothing but the meat. Three ribs and the innards of a brisket sandwich later I can't state unequivocally that this is some first class barbecue. The brisket was moist, with just enough body to be barely sliceable. I should mention that the kaiser roll provided was the perfect choice. Just leathery enough to hold together and spongy enough to sop up the sauces I'm looking forward to trying next time. As I think I mentioned, today was about the meat. The ribs were on a par with any I've had anywhere? Great big spare ribs, deeply smoky, wonderfully juicy, falling off the bone tender. They are the stars of the show and they know it. I can't wait for a return engagement to sample the sauces, sides, chicken and, pulled pork. And, more ribs - definitely more ribs.

I live two blocks from Ray Ray’s Hog Pit and I am willing to pay extra to get Smoked On High delivered instead. If you rave about Ray Ray’s you haven’t had this brisket 😂. Smoked On High is THE BEST BRISKET IN COLUMBUS. The collar greens are vinegary and spicy in the most delicious way, it is close to perfect. They have a kick but not too spicy/really has a flavor. Some of the best bbq I've had in Columbus in a long time. The pulled pork was quite flavorful. And I like their version of a Carolina bbq sauce, even with it being a little on the sweet side. It's a small, no frills and brightly lit.

This place is amazing. I was skeptical when I saw 4.8 stars. I was anticipated overrated hipster food like HTC, but this place deserves 5/5 for sure. I got the brisket with gator sauce and Mac and cheese. The brisket is moist and melts in your mouth. The Mac and cheese definitely uses real cheese. They also have a moderate selection of craft beer. I try to reserve 5 stars for very special occasions. So not to say this doesn't necessarily warrant 5 stars, like most other reviews have given it, just putting my review into context. When it comes to BBQ in the greater Columbus area, in my opinion it's between this place and Ray Ray's Hog Pit. The venue is a converted Victorian style (?) home so seating in the colder months can be very limited. During the warmer months seating outside adds to the capacity. I would suggest for the first visit to get the sampler platter (pictured) which has a little of everything. This is plenty of food and will allow you to taste it all and maybe decide your favorite(s) for future orders. If you're in the area, definitely a place you should visit. Make sure you try the "Max N' Cheese" if you're seeking a spiritual experience.

Best barbeque in Columbus, better get there quicker before they run out of ribs-does happen from time to time but that's how you know they're good and fresh. The pickled onions are addictive and their ribs are ridiculous. Awesome sauces, especially if you like Carolina style or a bit of spice. I person like their style of Mac and cheese but some people think it isn't creamy enough, they use real cheese instead of a cheese sauce.

Said they were working on an andouille sausage which sounds good, but I need sausage and good brisket to bring me back all the time. It was really hard to find, since it's hidden by the buildings on either side, and the signage was hard to see because of the cars parked on the street. However, once we turned around and found it, the food was so worth it! Their pulled pork sandwiches are great, as was the mac n cheese (be prepared that there's herbs in it - that's what makes it so good, but if you want just plain mac n cheese, this isn't the mac for you). The cornbread was eh - not the greatest, not the worst I've ever had. They have three sauce options, none of which I personally liked - but I'm not really a sweet n savory person, nor can I tolerate the level of spiciness that "The Pucker" had. So your mileage may vary on the sauces. The prices were reasonable, and I would definitely go there again!

Mighty tastey Que! I got a sampler, with collared greens and mac and cheese. Mac and cheese was INCREDIBLE. Greens I didn't care for. Now to the protiens. Ribs were very dry. Talked to the folks running. They cut me off a few more bones that were 100% not dry. Brisket was second best I've ever had. Sausage was good. Pulled pork was quite good too. I'll go back if I'm up here again.

It's a little on the small side and feels like you're eating in someone's parlor (not in a bad way). This is a unique little place. It's an old house that has been truned into a restaurant. The food is very good and the sauces we're excellent. The price isn't cheap, but it is similar to other BBQ joints. There is a fair amount of outside seating that let's you enjoy your food in the fresh air.

Went a few weeks ago and my food took extra long because I guess the guy at the register “gave my food to someone else” so I waited for my food again. then when I got home to eat it, it was decent but tasted like it had probably 4-6 tablespoons of black pepper between my brisket and Mac and cheese, and that’s coming from someone who loves pepper. Finally found a BBQ place that has "great" food and is close to downtown, without the busy hassle and congestion both parking or walking. This BBQ was DELICIOUS. I got the smoke brisket sandwich with the sweet whiskey BBQ sauce. Super tender, large portion size. The mac and cheese side was also an A+. The only reasons it's not 5 stars is the corn bread muffin was very dry (I preferred when they are made using creamed corn, not just corn meal), and they don't have to-go boxes! I mentioned the large portion size so when I was ready to go and take my left overs with me I had to wrap my messy sandwich in parchment paper to go and then there was no tape to keep it wrapped closed. How inconvenient! I had to hold it closed the whole way home. I get trying to be green but at least get those card board to go boxes made from recyclables. Don't make me take my dripping mess of a meal home wadded up in paper :( All things considered though it was awesome, I will be back!

AMAZING! When looking for a business to partner with for our resident event at Aston Place Apartments, I came across Smoked on High. Danny helped me every step of the way by answering my questions, suggesting serving sizes, and even delivering and setting up all of the food for the event! I ordered 10 lbs of Brisket, 15 pounds of Pulled Pork, 2 Max n Cheese Trays, 2 Coleslaw Trays, Cornbread, Gator Sauce and the Sweet Whiskey Sauce. At the event, you could see resident's plates piled high with meat and a separate plate for the delicious Max n Cheese. Almost all of the residents asked to take "take-home" plates with them when the event was coming to an end. We look forward to partnering with Smoked on High for future resident event at Aston Place and at our sister communities.

I had high hopes for Smoked on High, as any good optimistic exiled Texan. We know that Ohio is not in any way known for its barbeque, but then neither is South Florida, and the longer we were exiled there, the more good barbeque started to pop up (Smoke BBQ AND Bare Bones!! Mmm!!! I just had to unfollow Bare Bones on Instagram because they were posting too many luscious photos and seemings as they are way too far away now, I couldn't take it.) We even have been to an excellent barbeque place in Phoenix, Little Miss BBQ. (Oh my!!!) We got our hopes up partially because on our way into Columbus, moving truck in tow, we stumbled upon an excellent barbeque restaurant South of here, 7 Miles Smokehouse. So back to Smoked on High. I have been wanting to come here before I even moved here. We are now missing our longlost famous KC Texan breakfast brisket tacos too long. So today was finally the day to try some Cbus brisket and if succesful, take some home. We got some brisket of course. On the lovely lady's suggestion at the counter, we tried the spare ribs. We also tried the coleslaw and mac and cheese, and all three sauces. So I went straight for the star of the show, the brisket. It was moist....big headstart plus! We did ask for the moist, but at some places, we are still handed tough meat. It had a nice flavor, a lovely smoke, especially in the fat. (Don't hate on me. I eat healthy most of the time. But sometimes it is time for fatty brisket, for what is great brisket without the fat?! Loyal Texan here...) Hubby echoed many other reviewers in saying the meat didn't need a sauce. Score. I usually am not a fan of spare ribs, but they had an excellent taste and were tender. The mac and cheese was interesting, and boasted Thanksgiving flavors of something like rosemary and sage, very herby and not very cheesy. Hubby, connoisseur of mac and cheeses galour gave it the thumbs up. I gave the coleslaw a thumbs up. It very much reminded me of the Texan coleslaws of my youth, which of course are the way coleslaws should taste. ;) It had a little extra kick of black pepper which was okay with me. The sauces were all very interesting. There was a sweet, spicy, and mustard sauce. Surprisingly with the battle of Texan versus Carolina style raging strong, and the loyalists tasking sides, the Carolina mustard sauce is growing on me. Hubby, still skeptical, pronounced it one of the best mustard sauces he has had. We enjoyed all the sauces to some extent, although they weren't quite my favorite barbeque sauces. The mustard was my favorite of the three. Hubby also tried a lemon acai soda which was very unique. It was nice and fun, but a little too sweet for my tastes, but then I don't drink sodas. Lastly, service was EXCELLENT. The lady and gentleman were eager to please and pleasant. So, yes, we left with a pound of brisket, and yes, we will be back.

I would have given this place is five stars because the food is really good but one thing that just stands out that is bad about this restaurant is that they are not consistent......What I mean by that is the fact that they are often sold out and cannot maintain enough product for their demand or they are closed for some odd reason. I live in those reasons described they have hot not food. They just need to get consistent because they aren’t.

(running out of adjectives). this place is an absolute hidden-treasure; tucked in the Marion Village/German Village area, set in an old victorian-house, this bbq restaurant is slangin' mouth-watering, smoked meats like it was crack in the '80s. this bbq is insane. I had both the beef brisket and pulled pork sandwiches. The portions are massive, the moisture is locked, the meat falls apart in your mouth.. a single bite is your one-way ticket to Flavor Town. Best bbq restaurant in Columbus - hands-down. Simply the best.
