The food was very good and authentic. Very large portions so if you think you need a lot good luck eating it all in one sitting. From food truck to restaurant and the lines are still out the door. I am very glad my daughter recommended coming in a trying it. If you get the chance, while waiting in line, take a look around at the artwork inside it is absolutely beautiful .

I came here after a friend of mine mentioned that this was the best taco spot outside of Fort Jackson, and he was not lying! I had the steak nachos, a traditional asada taco on a corn tortilla and 2 shrimp tacos on a handmade hard taco shell. The food was fresh and the salsa bar offered a great variety of spice levels and flavors. There is ample in door seating as well as main level and second level outdoor seating. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Went here after Yelp had written it up as the best tacos in all of SC. My husband, dad and I went and OH BOY it’s fantastic. You order at the counter then they make it and put on topping as you want. We had tacos: fish, barbacoa, pastor, pollo, camaron, chorizo, y carnitas. We also had the queso with chips, rice & bean, a sopa and a chalupa. Top favorites: taco pascado, taco camaron , and taco chorizo. Definitely coming back again, highly recommend you come out and enjoy this place. It has character and the line moves quickly. Order the Bierria Tacos. Overall, they were good. The tacos were pretty filling and the consomme was good as well. FYI, although they say are open till 9pm, ordering stops around 8:30.

You know the food is good when the parking lot is full and the line is extended into the dining area! My kids and I were thoroughly pleased with the authenticity of the food served. Especially the freshly made Birria Tacos and churros with choice of 3 dessert sauces. *chef's kiss* Muuaahh!!!

Yummynesss! Line out the door is always a good sign of greatness ahead! No disappointment here, I had 2 tacos de Birria with consome( the au jus like the French dip sandwich) but it the broth of the birria!!! Also a gordita with carnitas (pork) and a sope with carnitas. As well as an order of the plantains with crema and queso fresco!!

This place lives up to the hype and blows all competition out of the water. I got a barbacoa bowl and it was jam packed with flavor. To drink I got a mango agua fresca which was very refreshing. I never had plantains with condensed milk on them but after eating theirs.... I don't know if I can eat them any other way. All the food tasted fresh and the staff held it down even during the busiest of times. This place is awesome!

Holy cow! We were driving though on our way to Charolette and planning to grab something quick from Chipotle. I am so thankful we looked up some other options. This place blows all other taco shops out of the water. The food was amazing and was really quick even with the line out the door. If you stop by and see a line out the door do yourself a favor and stop in. It will 100% be worth it and is very quick. We got the nachos with chicken and they were awesome. We also got the bierra tacos and they were the absolute best entree ever. We finished off with the churros with condensed milk and were thankful we did. 110% do yourself a favor and eat at Taco Nayarit. We will be stopping often on our trips though Columbia.

Not too many Mexican Restaurants here in Columbia, South Carolina. Came across this restaurant, Tacos Nayarit. This place has outdoor seating. The inside of the restaurant has it's cultural setting. The menu has it's variation. I tried the carne asada and chicken tacos. Both meats were tender and good flavor.

(family agrees). tacos flavorful, and so is the sauce, it’s not just grease and cilantro. churro with caramel is fantastic as well. long wait, but only because the food is so good that they get so many customers 🤣. def recommend the birria tacos. whole family loves them.

After seeing all the videos finally went to check them out. We went after 5pm on a Sunday and there was a pretty big crowd. Took us about 30 mins until we were able to order and less than 10 min to get it. Ordered Birria Tacos with 2 sides (half rice & beans plus chips & queso). Food was really good and definitely will be going again. Ordered as takeout due to the inside being full however, by the time we paid most of the seats were empty so we decided to seat and eat at an open table. The parking is pretty hard as its not much space for the amount of people. For those who like to eat leftovers - their still good even next day

The food is authentic and delicious, the prices are great. I ordered 2 Birria tacos (the only place I've been a able to find that have these this good) 1 Barbacoa and 1 Pastor. The staff is very professional and make sure they have your order exactly how you want it, I will definitely be back and will be bringing more friends and family.

Great place! We searched up "best tacos in Columbia" and this place came up a few times. It was VERY packed the night we came in. The lady helping us with our order didn't understand English and had to get some help. No biggie! We got our orders and sat and ate some amazing tacos. Probably more of a lunch stop place... but if you're craving tacos or something of the sorts, this place is pretty great!

This is a very reasonably priced, super authentic restaurant. It's set up 'Chipotle style' so you can build your own dinner. Everything is made fresh there - you can watch them roll out and cook the tortillas from dough. The food is absolutely fresh and is always made to order right in front of you! If you're craving better-than-average tacos or an amazing burrito bowl, this is absolutely your best bet!

If you are a fan of Chipotle or Moe’s you should definitely like this place because…it is set up like them in the line fashion but much better food! The authenticity is top notch along with service and cleanliness! If you are looking for some great Mexican food definitely try them out.. I’m locked In!

There are five 4-seat tables and a 2-seater inside with outdoor seating available as well, so small place but never felt crowded as most people got their food to go or ate outside. Birria and consomme had very little pepper in recipe. Was very plain. Meat was tender. Like they had put a couple Mexican spices in a basic roast beef recipe. Oil used to fry tacos and quesobirria was very flavorful but had not even a touch of spice. Meal was fulfilling but lacked any nuance of layered pepper combination found in west coast birria. Disappointed.

It's one of my favorite Mexican food spot in Columbia. I'm originally from California, and finding really good Mexican food has been a challenge. It's always packed. I've never been in there, and there wasn't a line or one didn't develop while I was there. I love their shrimp tacos, Mangonada, birra tacos, and church's. I've never had an item on their menu that wasn't yummy. All food is made to order right in front of you . I only wish they served breakfast burritos!

The menu is large but easy to understand. Every meal I've had here has been fresh. The service is great and long lines during rush hours are serviced quickly. Tacos Nayarit is my #1 favorite Mexican restaurant in Columbia for its convenience and consistently delicious food. I recommend the chorizo burrito bowl and the churros for a sweet treat.

Went in for lunch. It had a pretty long line that move fairly quick. In a word, delicious. The food was as authentic as you can get in South Carolina. The only glitch was a language barrier and it was slight. Will 100% got again. And again.

I love grabbing tacos from this place! They have plenty of other types of foods to choose from too and it’s all really good. I wish the chalupas had thicker bread but that’s my only complaint. Everything always seems extremely fresh and the staff is very friendly as well. The prices are extremely reasonable and the place is well kept whenever I have gone there. They don’t have much parking and can get busy quick but the workers are quick enough to where you won’t have to wait too long unless someone has a large order. I would recommend getting there before 6.

This place was definitely on point! You could tell as you pulled up seeing a line wrap around the inside dining room and the revolving door as people exited looking satisfied 😌. The food was excellent and the group I was with was appreciative that I was able to introduce them to such a great taco/burrito establishment. You will not be disappointed with this choice, especially with a Mangonado to go with!

The food here is wonderful. I absolutely loved the food. The only thing I would complain about is that there is no menu prior to entering the establishment and once you get in range of the on-screen menus (which shift images every 5 seconds, not giving you enough time to see more than 1-2 of the items), the person behind the counter is asking for your order.

My first experience here was on cinco de mayo day I didn't enjoy for food as much because it was busy and by the time I sat down my food was already cold. First off the food is a 10. The service is averaged 3. No one is smiling no one greets you. The employees seem overall rushed and annoyed. Expect a line and a busy dining room whenever you go. Regardless the food is absolutely worth it and makes up for the unfriendly staff.

The food is pretty good, service is decent. The language barrier can be a slight issue (I was overcharged for consomme), but repeating the order several times could've resolved that problem. The burrito bowls are comparable to Chipotle. The tacos and quesadillas are like no other.

I really enjoy the food at this place however, I hate how this establishments says it closes at 9 and locks the door at 8:45. If that’s so, then you need to change the business hours to closing at 8:45. I was very disappointed thinking I had enough time to come in and get food Togo just for them to already be cleaning and locking up when I pulled up 15 minutes before closing time. If the business hours are open 11am-9pm then that is expected for the last person to walk in by 8:59 and still be served.

I was passing through Columbia and decided I would eat something other than chain fast food for dinner. I found Taco Nayarit on Yelp. Arrived about 7:30 PM. Note the restaurant is not located in a heavy commercial area. As such it is easy to pass. Fortunately Google Maps was spot on and I got there without issue. The restaurant is also fairly close to the street. I got three soft tacos, chicken, shredded beef, and pork, The experience was similar to what I get at Chipotle: Go through the line selecting the components of your creation, pay and pick up your meal at the end. The food was fresh and tasty. I am likely to stop through here again.

If you want clean, fresh Mexican food, this is the best restaurant I have found in Columbia. I had a burrito, so I could try more of their fresh ingredients and it was a good choice. I might try the tacos or a tortas next time, but I didn't see anything that didn't look good. I will be back and I can highly recommend trying it.

My first time stopping here. Glad I did! It's super cute! There were a lot of patrons ranging from military personnel to construction workers. While I was leaving two Richland county cops came to eat as well. I tried the sopa with steak and the gordita with grilled shrimp. It was good and filling. I even tried the agua fresca. Make sure to ask what flavor is available because it changes daily. Definitely tasted more authentic than the chain stores in the area. I used to read about the Tacos Nayarit food truck in the Free Times and never got a chance to visit. Now I'm ready to come back to their restaurant!

Wow. Great food. Just off the highway, very clean, and awesome tacos. Build-your-own concept, very fast, great toppings. I got a taco trio and each meat (beef, pork and chicken) was tender, juicy and very flavorful without being overly salty. Love the simplicity of street tacos with a perfectly seasoned meat, fresh onions, cilantro and a drizzle of one of their salsas from the bar. If I could snap my fingers and turn every taco bell into one of these, I would.

2022 April 14 - Tacos Nayarit continues to deliver excellent food. Parking continues to be the most challenging part. Prices have increased significantly from Dec 2021. Birrhia tacos with consome is my favorite. Dec 2021 Good food but stressful experience. Parking is really close to a fast moving highway. Long line with hungry customers behind me made me feel pressured as a first time visitor. I had to order quick and speak loud. It's nice that dishes are customized exactly to the customers' liking but I kind of like being able to order a creation that a chef has designed, not me. Tacos Nayarit is fast casual like the Chipotle chain restaurant but better. Tacos Nayarit is not bad but I like Tex Mex Columbia better.

WOW... just WOW. The best description of this place is a hole in the wall that serves absolutely the best happiness. I say this because we all know that great tacos bring happiness. Taco Nayarit serve just wonderful tacos. I had two shrimp tacos. Colleagues had a good selection of different tacos... all reported yumminess. This is not a fancy place. I understand it was originally a food truck and it still has the feel - even if it has moved its operations inside. Yet... I do not care. Come here. Get a couple of tacos and be happy. You will not regret it.

I normally love the food but this time it was not good. The brirra tacos are normally very flavourful but this time was bland. My queso was cold and lumpy. And my chips were not warm or hot like normal and the had no salt or anything. I hope its improved by the next visit or that will be my last visit.

I came here because it was very recommended by a Mexican friend who couldn't get enough of all the great choices available. I got three tacos to try some of the flavors available, and they were all great. The steak and chorizo tacos tied for second, but the carnitas were off the chart! An order of fried plantains with sweetened condensed milk and a cup of horchata made for a complete meal. I wish I could eat here all the time Dec 20 update: Holy smokes I wish I'd tried the churros the first time I came here. Fresh and hot and crunchy with cinnamon sugar, I've never had a churro this good. And it's filled with vanilla cream or something amazing. Totally recommend. The gordita and sope are also up there to compete with the tacos

I had a steak burrito and it was excellent. There was a huge line (it was around noon and the line is a testament to the good food) but the food was worth it and the staff was definitely moving it along as fast as they could. The chips, queso, and salsa were also excellent. The prices are comparable to a place like Moe's but the taste and quality of the food is so much better at Tacos Nayarit. I will definitely be returning.

The food is really good and they have a variety of meat to choose that it’s very authentic my only recommendation is that the portions are considerably small for Mexican food we spend spend $36 in Al pastor burrito ball, carne asada burrito ball and refritos beans with rice and a soda. Ton of potential if that small detail of the portion get fixed.

The Cuban torta is my new guilty pleasure and soooooo good. It's also huge and cheap for what you get. Everything else we have eaten had been excellent. I'm from San Diego and this place meets my standards. Their homemade sauces are also killer.

Tried their burritto and it was amazing. It felt very authentic all around. The roasted jalapeños with caramelized onions are my favorite part! Simple yet flavorful. You stand behind the counter and create your own, like Moe's. Def go and try it!

One of the top restaurants in Columbia and I definitely can attest to that. Our food was very fresh and a heck of a lot better than chain restaurants (i.e. moes, chipotle, etc.) With the pandemic still going on, was very pleased to see spacing, strict guidelines of COVID measures, and all staff wearing gloves and masks. This ensured the safety of the guests were not at risk, which made it reassuring to see that.

The best Mexican food in SC and very friendly staff! Prices have gone up recently but they have everywhere... you've got to try the tacos de birria!! They are must! Don't be weary of a long line at lunchtime, it moves surprisingly fast and definitely worth the wait. Parking can sometimes be challenging for a big truck like mine but there's always a place to sit inside or outside. This is one of those hidden gems that you will want to go out of your way for. Love the food, hate the service. It's a build your own dish type of spot (kind of like Chipotle) except with authentic Mexican food. When you ask for "a little more" of certain things (i'm even willing to pay extra if i have to) they act like you are greatly inconveniencing them. So, inasmuch as I love the food (they are always packed so it's a common sentiment) I don't go very often. I can make food like this and get what i want how I want it without the attitude. I must end on a good note - the salsa is (I think house made) exceptional!

This place is AWESOME and the food is authentic! The flavors and cleanliness of the restaurant are spot on. One hiccup is the ladies that run the register can sometimes be very rude and don't put all of your order in your bags. You have to remind her of your order and check it before you leave. It's time consuming if you have a large order but it beats coming back to the restaurant after you have left. But the food is awesome and i don't have o work there just eat!!!!!

Legit authentic Mexican Chipotle style plus more options. Can't go wrong with any meat selections in your tortas, bowl or burrito. Don't put the American stuff on it like sour cream. Go simple with fresh ingredients and it will complement the proteins. The plantains are delicious as they serve them uniquely with sweetened condensed milk. To top it off, the have horchatta. They have different sauces for toppings once you sit down as well i love the decor. Clean facility with 2 bathrooms. They have a cute tiny people table outside for your kids. Staff is decent. Tacos Nayarit is so delicious. Gorditas, Tacos Birria, Quesadillas, pretty much anything is good here. Prices aren't as low as other places, but the flavor and quality are worth the cost. The line and wait are the biggest setback but you get the food made fresh and you can customize as you like it. Just get there before the lunch rush or plan a bit longer for the meal. You won't regret a meal from Tacos Nayarit unless your taste buds are broken.

This place is always amazing and reminds you of Mexican street food. Whether you want chicken, chorizo, steak, etc. You can't miss with anything! My go to meal is a chorizo quesadilla with chips with their pico de Gallo and queso and it's like tasting a quesadilla for the first time.

If you love moes or salsarita then you will definitely love this place! The layout is the same like the two other restaurants I mentioned but the food is actually authentic since the owners used to have a food truck. Good hot food, and seasoned great. Only thing is it's a small place and it's usually packed, so if you want to be in and out that won't really be the case because they are usually packed majority of the day.

The associates who work here are always extra nice and very helpful. I watched a customer come in today who described what they wanted because they didn't know the name and two employees helped her figure out what she wanted. I took my daughter's with me, and 2 of them got 🐔 quesadilla, and the other got 🐔 street 🌮 with the sides. I don't like the fact that the chips are cold, and not fresh and hot with salsa on the side. Overall I love this place. You see them preparing it as soon as you start ordering. If you're hip to the famous and very popular taco de birria aka birria queso tacos then this is the place for you. To be honest, I've had them from Real Mexico, El Crazy Taco, and now this place. Tacos Nayarit has the best birria tacos by far!! Major flavor and so juicy. I love the mango ada as well. The fish and shrimp taco are good too.

I totally love this restaurant. The food selection is great, it's in front of you to pick your mix. If you are a vegetarian like me you will appreciate this place. I highly recommend the veggie taco bowl and their burritos. It's not easy to find good Mexican food when you are Mexican and this place is really good. The staff is friendly and bilingual, the prices are also good and the place is clean and cute. You can eat there or simply order a take out. I live in an area where good tacos are hard to come by so I search for tacos whenever I travel. I went to Tacos Nayarit on a Wednesday evening and it was mostly empty. Staff was super friendly and put my order together very quickly. I ordered three soft tacos (beef, pork, and fish) and was satisfied by all. However, the fish taco was outstanding to the point where I would consider another visit during my short trip. Only thing I would change is leaving the tortilla on the stove for an extra minute or two.

First time visit today. Had three street tacos corn tortillas and carne asada filling. Very good food and fun vibe. The toppings and fillings are all displayed for you to see. Ingredients were very fresh. My dining partner's tacos birrias looked amazing (he said they were!). Establishment was clean and since we arrived arrived mid-afternoon there wasn't a crowd. My only suggestion is that they give you two corn tortillas per taco as just one won't hold them together. I'm sure that had I asked they'd have done that. I don't mind paying for it.

Always a delicious experience here. The torta is by far the best menu item and the one you are least likely to be able to get at other Mexican places around town. It’s essentially a Mexican sandwich and it is delicious. We’ve been several times and have also gotten the tostada, Gordita and nachos. These were all also quite good as their ingredients are always fresh and high quality, but again, the torta (in my and my husband’s opinion) is the star of the menu. They have some nice outdoor seating for the warm weather. Indoor seating is available as well. The only downside is that sometimes they get very, very crowded. Last Friday night, we waited in a line around the building and they had run out of guacamole, which was disappointing. However, clearly they are popular for a reason. This place was chosen by someone in my office. The food was amazingly delicious and fresh. The line was pretty long but for hot made to order food it's most definitely worth the wait. In particular their corn flour tortillas have the consistency of fresh hand pressed mass tortillas (I don't actually know if they are but they're definitely not the usual bulk store bought flour tortillas). The best authentic Hispanic food I have ever eaten in my life. The food is very fairly priced, and it is always consistently amazing. I drive out of my way to eat here and I don't mind. I would recommend anyone who loves consistent good fresh food to go and try this place!

I liked the shrimp and pork tacos and I didn’t like the fish taco, it was burnt. Their salsas were excellent both of them verde and roja. The best Mexican food you can get in Columbia. I am from LA where street tacos and taco food trucks are a hit. This is by far the closes to what I have had in Los Angeles. My family and I are regulars here! I highly recommend getting their fully loaded burritos with either Carne Asada (beef/steak) or Pollo (chicken) with retried beans, rice, lettuce, pico, guacamole, cheese, and sour cream. Make sure to ask for a side of their Serrano peppers, watch out they are spicy but delicious. Ask for a whole bag of chips and queso on the side my favorite side. If you would like dessert try out their churros, yummy! During the week and weekends they are pretty busy. Make sure to not get their during rush hour which is lunch time and dinner. So anytime in between those times there will be no line. The parking lot is a bit small so watch where you park or hope there is a parking spot for you there.

Oh, word of warning: Don't order the Dorado (crunchy) tacos unless you intend to eat them right then and there as they get too soggy to pick up and eat when ordered as takeout.

Authentic Mexican dining easily accessible by car. Generous servings cooked fresh at a reasonable price. I have recommended this place to all my friends. Love the pastor (marinated pork) and the carne asada! Great for lunch, but be aware that it gets crowded between 12 and 1pm during the work week. If you are short on time come before or after those times. Otherwise, be patient for your turn at the line. Well worth the wait!!

I visited Tacos Nayarit for the first time yesterday. It's a nice, new resto that I imagine was built with Mexico in mind. It has the main, interior restaurant, but also a lovely, shady porch that wraps around part of the building. On the porch, there are tables for eating outside, and farther back, there appears to be a raised, second floor open deck with tables and large umbrellas for shade. I feel that the food is the best Mexican casual cuisine that I have had. Everything was really good and fresh. The menu is reasonably varied. You order by way of a food line like Moe's or Chipotle, which allows you to choose how your entree is made. I had their taco salad, and it was the best I've had anywhere. So much better with black or pinto beans rather than the watery, tasteless stuff that another Mexican restaurant uses in their taco salad. We had to wait in line before being able to order, but once we ordered, the food was ready quickly, and we paid for it at the end of the line. The main restaurant is not particularly large, but there are places outside where you can sit and eat, and they do a lot of take-outs, too. I'm already ready to go back and try something else! Yum!

I enjoyed lunch at Tacos Nayarit with some co-workers this afternoon. There was ample room for the 7 of us to eat lunch and converse without being in anyone's way. The Torta was recommended by my esteemed colleague but I invested my appetite into a delicious marinated pork burrito with fresh toppings to spare. The meal was very enjoyable and I quenched my thirst with mango juice. My only complaint was that I wanted salsa with my chips but I didn't realize I needed to get the salsa at the bar when i ordered my food initially. Overall I really enjoyed the meal and I believe my coworkers did too!

I wish I could give this place more stars! You haven't had a burrito until you've had one from Taco Nayarit. Everytime I go I'm absolutely amazed with the consistency, quality and cleanliness of the place. The counter looks like it could be an OR. The glass is Crystal clear, counter is pearly white and knives are so clean I can see my own reflection in them. Then you get into the actual food and it's absolutely incredible. I honestly thought Moe's was a good burrito place until I ate here and now I can't even imagine cheating on my beloved taco Nayarit with any burrito chain. The staff is always polite and in a great mood. Every restaurant has something to learn from Taco Nayarit because they have done something really special. Fresh, authentic, fast and freaking delicious. I'd put them up against any of the best restaurants in Columbia. And if you haven't tried the fried plantains you're missing out.

Eat here a few times and you will eventually figure out Taco Bell is not Mexican food. This place is kind of like a Subway sandwich shop. Are you kidding? Tacos Nayarit is the real deal!!! Super delicious, authentic Mexican street Tacos... with lots of the other standards, (burrito, quesadilla, tostada, ect)... limited seating, and always a line so be sure to arrive before, or after the lunch rush... The best "bang for the buck" in Columbia!!!
