Came here for a work meeting and the owner was very accommodating for our group. Our waitress was attentive and thorough. Salad's were fresh, great sides and plenty in size. Several co-workers had soup and everyone enjoyed. Burger was homemade, fresh and moist. Pot roast beef dinner with homemade mashed potatoes was great. Sandwiches all looked average. Homemade ice cream was very good and great selection of seasonal flavors. Enjoyed the screened in seating out back. The twin kitties were by far the best welcoming committee 😻😻

10 out of 10, will eat here again. There are plenty of options to choose from, the food was AMAZING and there was plenty of it, and the staff were awesome! The bathrooms were also very nice and had an actual changing table, not the cheap plastic ones everywhere else has. But the best part and the thing that sold me from the moment I stepped out of the truck were the 2 fat cats hanging out on the porch. They were so sweet and friendly. This is definitely one of the best places I've ever ate at!

It was my first time in this cafe and I really love the food and ambience. I ordered the BBQ chicken sandwich and chicken pasta burger. So I love the BBQ chicken sandwich which was very yummy and delicious. Beverage was also good here, It was very relaxing time for me to have food and talk with your loved ones.

I had the special of the day, Beef Stroganoff and it was quite delicious. My wife's chicken Parmesan was on point and my parents and two brothers, who were also eating with us, had nothing but good things to say about their food as well. The home-made ice-cream and gooey cake were also above par.

I have been here probably 10 plus times. Some with the old owners and maybe 4 times with the new. It is amazing. The food is so good. The service is always been good for me. Homemade ice cream. Get the nachos to start! Salads are amazing and I LOVE the bean burger. Great tea- could go on and on. Total local spot! Go try it! It’ll sneak up to you on the road lots of parking.

I'm always on the hunt to try something new food-wise, but it was actually my wife who suggested The Backyard Cafe and I'm glad she did! I had a double cheeseburger that makes all others look second rate. My wife had an order of chicken parm that she said was amazing. Next time we'll dine in and take in the coziness of the restaurant, which happens to be a ranch style house. Great neighborhood spot, friendly staff!

The food though! Delicious! The Chicken Charlie is a do over…the perfect cheese sauce you could eat with a spoon and lick the bowl, big, flat Italian green beans seasoned perfectly & mashed potatoes YUM. We also tried the pimento Cheese Burger with fries…cooked perfectly and loved the homemade pimento cheese. Fries crispy perfection! I think I’m hungry after writing this!

First, new name and owners as of Feb or Mar 2022. This is a small locally-owned owned and operated facility. New name Mama Henry's Backyard Cafe. Seating inside for about 20, has a separate screened in deck which would seat 25 to 30. With a party of 5, all had different orders and all said it was good. Prices were mixed, Philly sub 9.95, different meals 11 to$15. Staff friendly and efficient.

Mama Henrys is the new restaurant at Backyard Cafe. Our group of 7 was treated to great dinners. From hamburger to roast beef, to catfish, to gooey cake for dessert. Great host. Only issue was the water has a dirty taste because algae from lake and the water treatment, not Mama Henrys problem and they did inform us before we ordered. Highly recommend.

They were so friendly here. I had a burger which was juicy and delicious. I really wanted to try the gooey cake but it was sold out. My family raves about the food here so it is a frequent favorite for ice cream, burgers or gooey cake. They also go out of their way to accommodate their customers which my nephews really appreciate.

Momma Henry's at Backyard Cafe. Food was great but our service was rookie. I had to flag him to refill our drinks. Team work was also horrible. There were servers who could have helped refill our drinks real fast instead. I had to flag him down. He was behind the register. He has tables and managing the register. When he had no one for about 5 mins, I said can we get refills now please. Probably will do the food to-go if this is how service is here. 😒. It went down since the new ownership.

I’ve dined in here once a couple years ago but most recently have ordered delivery through door dash. My wife’s burger was a perfect medium and wing chips nice and crispy. The slow-cooked pot roast was honestly some of the most tender stringy beef I’ve ever eaten. Good mash taters. And tonight had the steak Alfredo. I ordered salad both times and each time, you can tell they are built with care and attention to detail. Very impressed with the freshness and care that goes into the food with the delivery service, you’re definitely doing it properly. I was a Chef for 8 years. Only “critique” I would have is maybe tweak the gravy on the roast a touch, it was good, but with a little more oomph would take the pot roast over the top. Amazing little establishment, highly recommend 😃😃

My wife took me here to try out what she said was amazing food. I absolutely have to agree! However there is so much more than great food! There is a great atmosphere and it's very cozy! The menu has something for every member of the family. Everything I have ordered seems like my mom cooked it. That's how good it is. If that's not enough, they offer amazing flavors of homemade ice cream. I actually got a free ice cream on my birthday. There's nothing like a family-owned restaurant that loves people. My wife and I went there for the first time last night. The place was very busy and our wait was longer than usual for our food (according to our server who was awesome). I ordered the Catfish Platter along with Mac & Cheese and Cole Slaw. The food was incredible! Since we had a longer wait for our food, we were given a free dessert, which was greatly appreciated! We tried the ooey gooey caramel pecan cake, and it was absolutely delicious! Overall, great experience! We will be back.

We have eaten here on numerous occasions. The staff is always friendly and the food is always hot and delicious. Everything they make is made to order and not made ahead of time, so your wait may be longer than you would like but the food is worth the time.

We came in from out of town to go to the flea market. I found this place on google maps. It had a high rating and good reviews so I decided to check it out. We pulled up and my wife didn't even want to get out because it looked liked someone's house. I got her to go in and the inside looked like a dinner from back in the day (which is not a bad thing). The food was good and our server Randa was very nice. The homemade banana pudding ice cream was excellent! This place is very unique and cozy. I recommend giving it a try. If we are ever back in the area, I will be back for some more ice cream! :)

The food here is so good. Literally everything on the menu is delicious! The service here is very good as well. The atmosphere is very cozy - it's a house that has been turned into a restaurant. The owners are friendly and usually walk around asking guests if everything is all right. The food prices here are moderate but it's worth every penny because you get a lot of food! My favorite part of my experience here is the sweet cat that they have outside of the restaurant... 😊

This was my first time visiting this little jewel of a hole in the wall restaurant. The food was amazing and very generous portions. Very laid back and relaxed setting. We sat outside on the covered porch. You can easily forget that you are sitting at a restaurant and not on your grandma's porch. If you are wanting some good down home cooking and South Carolina hospitality then this is the place for you.

This food is phenomenal! First time, was fabulous! Great food, great staff, and great experience! The first time, I got the Hawaiian Chicken and their gooey cake with homemade ice cream. Along with Artichoke Spinach Dip. This time, I got the Southern Delight along with the same dip and gooey cake. Can you say HEAVENLY?!!!!!! All my fb and snapchat friends have been asking me where I got the food from because it looked so good! Tasted even better! I seriously love y'all and everything about this place in it's entirety along with the cat!!!!!!! This place is a GEM!

I've been here twice in two weeks with two different groups of ladies. In all my visits in years before I have been very pleased with BYC. The positives: The salads are great, I usually like the chicken salad and pasta, and the open-faced steak sandwich with melted cheese looks amazing. Recent negatives: my chicken salad was partly frozen. Also, the ACwas turned down so low, we all froze on another visit. We were sitting at the large round table in the second room back. The air blows straight down on you. Otherwise, I hear the ice cream is superb and friends enjoy going to hear live music outside on the weekends (not sure how often they have music).

Very cosy place... The atmosphere, the people, the food (not to mention the homemade ice cream). It's all so inviting and makes you want to go back for more. During my visit, I had the chicken Alfredo (definitely recommended) and a "cookies and creme" ice cream (also recommended). Both were served at the perfect temperature on top of being well presented, and they were very tasty. They have an outdoor space, almost like an old-timey playground, so kids can go play while the food is cooked fresh. My only critique is that the building could be better, but I know that is part of the atmosphere they are trying to provide (which works too), I just think they would receive more customers and business if they would make their establishment larger and easier to access. Great experience, and I can't wait to go back!

A lot of the reviews I've read for this nice little restaurant claim that the burgers are very good. The two burgers that we ordered were nothing really special though. Some of the reviews also mentioned how good the fries were too, but again, there wasn't anything too special about them. The wing chips came without seasoning, so if you order those, you might want to specify how you'd like them salted. There's only one thing that really stands out as something that the restaurant does especially well, and that's the deserts. So, be sure to order a desert for the table. Other than that, the food is pretty average. And that is OK! They can get pretty busy, and don't always have a large staff on hand. So expect some hiccups here and there as far as being seated, or getting your menus or orders quickly. That shouldn't be surprising though. It's a local business. This isn't an Applebee's. There's lots of parking, a friendly cat who hangs out on the front porch, and you get a pretty nice atmosphere inside, even if it is a little cramped. Overall, it's very nice to have this place in the area! I'm glad it's here. The food's not outstanding for the most part, but it doesn't have to be. It's good. Nothing more. Nothing less. Just be sure to order a desert, because that is the most impressive thing they have to offer. Some of their tasty deserts have even been described as "fight-your-own-grandma-for-it good". We will be going back.

I've eaten there many times, and the food has always been exceptionally good. My favorite is the Backyard Bites, which is slices of steak with onions and red peppers. This is a great alternative to chain restaurants, in terms of both the food and the atmosphere.

First time customers and not somewhere I’d recommend, the food wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t worth the money we spent. We paid $45 for two people to eat a philly cheese steak and chicken Alfredo. The chicken Alfredo came with maybe 5 pieces of chicken and the philly was soggy and so bland. We expected more for our money. We won’t be back.

Had a delicous lunch and then stayed to enjoy the eclipse! The Black & Blue Salad was excellent. The black bean soup was very tasty. The steak flatbread was also delicous. We eat there a lot. We like the food. The service is generally ok. They have gotten an order wrong, and we just did not want to bother to have them change it. The problem is you can never get your check. You will sit ready to go, ask for the check, and wait, and wait. They just don't seem to have their act together. Then when you get your bill, you sit and wait...and wait...for them to pick it up and cash you out. Tonight the little boy pulled the same sit and wait routine. It was getting grouling. Then he leaves the receipt with no pen. I try to get his attention at the next table for a pen, and he snaps at me. He is using the pen and I will have to wait. Wait, wait, wait. I went to the front register and signed the receipt and complained formally. My husband was embarrassed. That is fine, I don't have to come back. People don't like being snapped at by a kid. And, I would have not tried to get his attention, if he had done his job properly. If you want everyone to pay at the register, post a sign!

my experience working at the back yard cafe was really fun and getting a 50 percent discount in the food it was really fun working there. everyday im always thinking about coming back to the back yard cafe to get some of the home made delicious food and best home made desert and to see some of my friends that work there and most of all is to see 2 great amazing people that work mr mike wilson and ms peg mead they took me into their home and they tried to help me the best they could and i think them for that. the fun part about washing dishes is being in the kicthen with the cook ( jay) he is a nice cool guy and also you will get wet a lot from washing dishes i had a fun time working at the back yard cafe one day i will get to go back there and get some of the home made delicious food and some of the best home made ice cream which is made by mr mike or ms peg

We would always go to the backyard cafe when we come to Cola but they have changed the menu we would always get their turkey burgers which were amazing and sweet potato fries but they have taken it off the menu the food was still good but they need to put it back on the menu the patties where fresh not frozen like other restaurant that's what made them so special we were so disappointed
