Reviews of La Isla Bonita Restaurante
A great little Puerto Rican restaurant. It is somewhat small inside, so if it's crowded, be ready to sit outside. Food was good, but not fantastic. Maybe it was just my dish, but I've had better. Plenty of parking, though not all on an actual marked parking lot. Handicap parking spots marked.
This place is awesome. The ambiance is full is personality and the staff is super friendly and happy to be there! I enjoyed the lunch special. The menu has a nice variety of items and everything we ordered was delicious!!! The owner was readily available and making sure everyone was enjoying their experience. Such an awesome place. Will definitely a go-to place for me from now on!
Quaint little place with so much pride 💖‼️ We ordered so many authentic dishes that were freshly made & all delicious 😋I couldn’t stop eating 😂. Then to top it off we ordered to go dishes for the next day. This is now my new go to place for Spanish food.
The food was amazing. I felt like I was back in the Island. The owner is such a great host and walked around making sure everyone was enjoying their food and vibe.
Food was awesome. Atmosphere was great. We got it to go unfortunately but Im going to go back and dine in.
The best empanadas I have ever had in my life. Drove all the way from California you most definitely can't get this there!!!
Very cozy, welcoming and friendly. The food was great and the owner super friendly. Loved it!!!
I love it here . I felt like I was eating with family. There was so much life in this restaurant! The place is beautifully decorated and the walls are decorated with pictures of great legends of Puerto Rico. This is truly a gem of SC ! I didn’t even think South Carolina would have this much rich culture! I love it here and I love this spot . Thank you ❤️
We love this place. I love that it is veteran owned and I love the superior authenticity. I'm writing this review in hopes I get on their Christmas card list. Lol for real though it's amazing. Huge portions and super fast and friendly. We go all the time. Highly recommended
The best mufango I've had since Puerto Rico. I will be coming back soon.
We came back and it was amazing.
This place is amazing!!! First I've been to a few "Puerto Rican" restaurants. Very few hold up. But THIS one. Food was amazing.i had to take food with me. It wasn't salty like some places. I am definitely willing to drive 2 hours to come again. The owners and staff are super friendly and I felt at home with their sense of humor. Definitely a MUST VISIT.
Cannot recommend the empanadas. Not at all. Service great. Rice and beans great. Restroom super clean. Chicken and pork empanadas lacking in flavor and greasy. Beef a little better. Will order something different next time.
My first time here and I most definitely will be a returning customer. Food was absolutely delicious, seasoned well, and authentic!! La Isla Bonita esta muy bien!! Loved it!! The setting was down to earth and the customer service was excellent! Thank you
This was the closest to Puerto Rico I've gotten. The food was so authentic. I felt like I was at my grandma's kitchen table. Everything we ordered was tasty and Hot! I will be coming back. The customer service was spectacular. The owner was the waitress and she was super humble , army vet and very welcoming.! Took plenty of pictures. I wish I could give more stars. I went in am hour prior to closing and not once did I feel rushed.
I have finally found authentic food from my Island. Stop by if you want true Puerto Rican 🇵🇷. Don't miss out. They have a new outdoor setup coming soon. The offer dining in and take out. They offer desert and other specialty foods as well. …
A 5.3 rating restaurant! Came to this place with high expectations and was very disappointed...first, the restaurant is very small and the tables don't follow the CDC spacing guidance in regards to COVID. People was eating at close proximity to each other. The food was not that great...you will find all your traditional puertorrican food but it lack that "criollo" seasoning...also, high prices for a low quality food. Good things...they play Latino music and the serve Medalla (traditional light beer made in PR).
This is a nice little gem. Authentic PuertoRican food. This is my first time visiting I had tried a few time previously but they are closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Finally was able to make it and really enjoyed it. I had to try the dufongo made of green plantains and sweet plantains with pernil (roasted pork). It was delicious definitely recommend it. The lunch special are nicely priced at $8.75 and range in variety. Will definitely hit this please up again when I’m in the area. The owner was very welcoming and entertaining as well. She seems to have a lot of repeat customers from the army base near by Fort Jackson so that tell me this place is really good.
It's been a long time since I've had authentic Puerto Rican food. This place hits the spot. The people are friendly, the food is great, it really made me feel like I was back in the island.
This is a small Puerto Rican food place with huge personality and great flavor.
Loved the Alcapurrias!!
Highly recomended.
Tomorrow 3/30/2019 they will be having kind of a Puerto Rican festival with music, food and boozes! ENJOY!!
See facebook for details. :)
P.S. I'm not part of this restaurant team, I just really like their food! :)
What an amazing find! A great good experience! Our first Puerto Rican food. The very friendly waitress helped us make choices. Everything was delicious and slow-cooked with great sauces. Tried the chicken mufongo fried yucca, and pork with sweet plantains. Will have to come back through on our way home
They we’re accommodating and let me just say it tasted like sitting on the beach in PR!!! This is a gem I can’t believe it’s so close to me! Everyone enjoyed it we were a party of 13 our bill was maybe $40 less than what we anticipated so we bought some very nice shirts they sold! If you are in the area go sit with the family they are awesome!!! I’m still dreaming about the food!
Great atmosphere!, the food was great and the owner and staff were even better
This place was absolutely what any latino needs when driving along the interstate and says ..."I wish I had some good Puerto Rican Food, Like back home...." and then .."BAM. !!!!!" ......There it is, right off Exit 15 and the flag is the sign you have arrived... What a wonderful experience and quality of food... the service, atmosphere and the staff was very good and warm like from your "barrio" friendly smile... Food was delicious ... I recommend this place for any local or traveler... My Mom was traveling with me and used the restroom to wash-up before sitting, and return to the table with lots of compliments on how clean the restroom was... I look forward to my return trip very soon... its a must do.... Thank you for your warm(Latino)hospitality
A cool experience
Wasn't the biggest fan of the empanadas......
The drinks were very good and the food looked 👍 …
Brought back memories of being in Puerto Rico. Small place but super nice and staff/owners were amazing. Owner actually served in the military herself. We got a few quick things to eat like Alcapurrias de pernil, jueyes, and carne molida. We also had tostones and empanadilla de pernil y pollo. Nothing disappointed! Amazing and fresh. Next time in this area, we will definitely sit down for a meal.
Food was good but definitely got over charged. Me and my wife ate about $45 to $50 dollars worth of food but got billed for $70. Our friends took two of they kids and they bill was only $57. Again good food but definitely will not be returning.
I love this place! The staff are very helpful and always smiling. We ordered ours to go, all of it was absolutely delicious. My sons had the Tripleta with fries. It looked like a foot long, and very appetizing! We also tried the empanadas, tostones, sweet plantains, fried Yucca, arroz con gandules, pasteles, Pernil, and Bistec with onions. 2 thumbs up!
Rare gem... These days it's so hard to find genuine Puerto Rican food. It's a humble place with nostalgic Puerto Rican decor. It's walls are full of pictures from family members and customers that served in the military, which speaks to me about the authenticity of the family style restaurant the owner runs. I loved listening to salsa music and the warmth and attention that was given to us by the staff. The owner came to our table to welcome us, which is seldom done these days. The food was delicious and reminded me of my family's cooking! Try the mofongo or steak and onions! The desert was to die for. I suggest that you order the coconut flan, OMG, the best! Icing on the cake, no pun intended lol, was that they had all of my favorite drinks from Puerto Rico!!! Please pay them a visit, yooouuu will not regret it.
Great service, good place for a quick lunch if on ft jackson right outside the Percival gate. Food is authentic puerto rican food as if your abuela made it
I couldn't pass up the opportunity to give my recommendation. The food is not only presentation but it's also delicious. It's very service is fast, friendly and very family oriented! I don't remember the name of the plate in the front but the sandwich if the Cubano, both dishes are a must!
La comida muy rica, solo que el restaurant nesecita un update 👍🏻the food is very delicious, but the restaurant needs an update
Called ahead. While traveling from Myrtle Beac to Augusta Ga. My food was ready. Was greeting with warm smiles. Got my secret green sauce Angie makes and was out quickly.
This is a family friendly, authentic, Puerto Rican restaurant. The food is yummy. Not a place to go if you’re looking for an intimate setting or an upscale restaurant experience. You will come in hungry and leave out more than satisfied. Highly recommend if you love Caribbean food.
I ordered the white rice with pinto beans, chicken in sauce, and fried plantains with a cola (read: not a Coca-Cola product).
Nice food and very nice service. Have a menu that other PR places dont have like morcillas, mondongo and cuajo. Also have Medalla beer. The "plato navideño" was awsome.Very good experience. My new favorite place. Nice outside patio.
I have eaten Puerto Rican home cooking and this place is on point! Delicious Pernil!!
Authentic Puertorican cuisine. It’s always good. And the folks there are super nice. A real family atmosphere. I wished I spoke Spanish. But glad that my wife does.
Good Puerto Rican food they are very friendly and the two owners are so happy and make you feel like you are family I got there went I'm in Columbia working
Crazy how good this place was. Everything from the closeness of interior to phenomenal service. The food was superb, this isn't a gourmet type of place , I've not had such a flavorful and satisfying meal in some time. Can't recommend highly enough , might be worth 4hr roundtrip it would take us to go there.
Wonderful food great prices I travel regularly to this location on my trip s from Alabama to N. Carolina it's a great stopping location
The food was authentic, and really good. I think it's worth a stop. However it is a very small place and not a lot of staff. They are friendly, overall it's a good spot
Mofongo with carne frita was delicious!
Great Puerto Rican food. Reasonable and delicious. Empanadas and potato balls are the best.
Very friendly service and delicious food. We were the only gringos there, but were welcomed by staff and other dinner guests. If you are looking for something that doesn't fit into the usual pigeonholes, this is a good choice.
The best authentic recipes, I fell inlove❤!! The restaurant is cozy with alot of Puerto Rican pride covering the walls. The staff is so welcoming & the food was so delicious! You will not be disappointed!! Everyone in the area loves this place!
Food was delicious and staff was great. Cute little place, felt homie.
My favorite favorite spot to eat. Staff is always welcoming and family oriented. the food is awesome and well seasoned. I know they get sick of seeing me twice a week lol.
I drive 20 miles just get some authentic Spanish food. Their empanadas are always cooked to perfection. I’ll be there TODAY!!! Wepa!!!!
A pretty unique atmosphere. The food was delicious. It tastes like the cook was fresh off the boat. This was my first time visiting, but I will be back!
The food was absolutely delicious!!! My wife was loving the rice so much she didn’t want the pulled pork!! My only regret was not ordering two plates!! Been going there for years took a break from relocating and now back. Well she will no my name soon because we’re going to be faithful customers. It’s small and old school and warm from this amazing Army veteran owner/hostess.
What an amazing atmosphere music food and the owner is super wonderful. Mojitos are the best & I will be back for more of everything. A must for PR food hands down.
The food was good, but I really enjoyed the lively atmosphere. I went on a Saturday and there was a live band, everyone seemed to have been enjoying themselves. The staff was also very nice and welcoming.
Very Puerto Rican, I would say very legit! Food was excellent. Very cozy. Good service. Plastic silverware and paper plates style. First time having mofongo which is mashed yucca, sweet plantain or green plantains or all 3 in the trifongo. The garlic chicken was the juiciest and pork was tender and full of flavor. I also recommend the Piononos for appetizer. They also have your standard Hispanic drinks. Bathroom was also clean although no diaper changing station. Family friendly as well.
Absolutely AMAZING food!!! You can taste how fresh it is, and the meat is so tender. I'm telling everyone about this place!!
Delicious food and excellent customer service. I will definitely make the trip to go there again.
If you are looking for authentic PR food this is place. Felt like home, and they treat you like family.
Always seeing this restaurant whenever I'm on I-77S from work to the house, my girlfriend and I decided to try it for the first time a few weeks ago since we like to try not only local eateries, but also food from different cultures as well and we LOVED IT! You get plenty of food for your money, and very authentic! Their empanadas are a good size and filling, so don't make the mistake like I did and get two thinking they're sorta small. We will definitely order from there again in the future!!!
If you are looking for an authentic puerto rican experience, this is the place you should be at. I have never felt so much at home than here. The food is great and the music is phenomenal. If you ever have the chance to stop by you will not regret it.
Delicious, authentic Puerto Rican food!! The beef empanadas are sooo yummy! The ladies there are all so nice, friendly and welcome you with a smile!! ANYTIME I go near Columbia, I eat there!! 🇵🇷
The food was absolutely delicious!!! My family and I enjoyed everything we had!
My wife and I stopped in for lunch and had several appetizers. The atmosphere is cozy, the food excellent and reasonably priced, and the staff is exceedingly pleasant and helpful!!!
The food wasn't bad but it wasn't extraordinary either.
This was such a great experience can't wait to try more on the menu.
Delicious, inexpensive, and authentic Puerto Rican 🇵🇷 Restaurant! …
REAL PUERTORRICANS FOOD!!!!OMG I WANT TO GO TO ISLA BONITA EVERY MONTH!! THE OWNER RELLY NICE PERSON , AWESOME AND FAST SERVICE DEFINITELY WE ARE COMING BACK!!!
Un pedacito de mi hermoso Puerto Rico acá en SC!
Great place if you are looking for authentic comida criolla de puerto rico
Always a pleasure to eat here!! The ladies always make the dining experience a joy! If you speak a little Spanish even better!
I love the Cuban sandwich!! I always put the green sauce inside and it is a great lunch!
Next the rice and beans with Pork is also a great meal.
I see it everyday driving back to the office. I've always wanted to stop and today I did. It is some of the best Puerto Rican food I've had. I'm from boston and I've tried alot of places and this is in the top five. Great vibes, great music playing and friendly people
This place is awesome and the food is so delicious and the customer service is so good. Every time we can go to their restaurant area we stop in their, eat and order to bring home 2.5hrs away from them.
The BEST Puerto Rican restaurant outside of the island. Affordable, friendly staff, and DELICIOUS authentic food. ¡Gracias!
This place is a portal and it takes me back to Puerto Rico. The family makes it feel like Puerto Rico, the building makes it look like Puerto Rico, and the food make it taste like Puerto Rico. Great food and everything is authentic.
This gem is one of Columbia’s best restaurants. Close in proximity to one of Fort Jackson’s gates. I love the roasted pork with beans and rice—with sweet plantains. Authentic Latin food. Personable staff.Clean.Exceptional food. Don’t pass up an opportunity to eat here.
A very strong east Puertorrican atmosphere. I enjoy the food the most close piertorrican taste so far. Highly recommended.
The food was good and traditional to the foods of the Puerto Rican cuisine. Keep in mind that this is a family owned business, and the styles of the foods prepared are created with their own personal touch. Family owned establishments and the design of their dishes may vary. Just the same as I added earlier, this restaurant stays within the general traditional Puerto Rican style cooking.
Ms. Angela I believe her name was, is the proprietor of this business, and is extremely friendly and very approachable. She has a great sense of humor, and extremely hospitable. Lastly, she is retired from military service, and has served this nation proudly.

Very good food and the staff was very pleasant. I will certainly visit again!
The service was excellent, friendly, and very family like atmosphere.
The food was fantastic and very tasty. The food portions were more than enough for two meals.
I called in an order a couple of nights later, food was ready and hot when I picked it up. Still very friendly and attentive staff.
Yes, it is a very small locale and small parking area.
Yes, it is a very unique decor, for SC, but not for the islands.
If I am back in the area, i will definitely be eating here again.
Oh my God!! Amazing places!! The owners are so nicely, make you feel like I’m home!! I’m a puertorican ! I’m feel so happy when I found a place like this!! Is a pieces of Puerto Rico in the US!!
Wow! This place is amazing. It's a must eat! I had the trifongo con ensalada de marisco. My husband had the arroz con chuleta frita y amarillo. The seafood was fresh and seasoned perfectly and the chuleta amd arroz felt like it was made by my abuelita. We also tried a few appetizers. Relleno de papa, alcapurria, y empanadas. Everything tasted delicious and authentic. They fry everything to order but it was worth the wait. Although you wont wait too long. The service was quick. The servers are hustling and making sure you are taken care of and that everything is to your liking. We were so stuffed but we found some room for dessert. The flan de queso did not dissappoint! I was very tempted to order some alcapurrias to go!!! I can't wait to go back!
Loved going here. Felt like family not an outsider. Food was authentic, fresh, and great.
I have been coming here for years now and the food and service is always the same which is great. Just brought my cousin to eat here for the second time and he can't get enough. Thanks to all the staff there for always being welcoming. Amor a la comunidad puertorriqueña
Great restaurant, has the charm and feel of being in Puert Rico. But, the food is what will make me come back next time I'm in this area of the state. Definitely try it if you are into Puerto Rican or Caribbean foods.
Very authentic puertorican food that felt like my mom or grandma was cooking in the back. Great atmosphere that gave it a sense of feel that you were back at the island. Will definitely come back!
Food is always good and fresh!! Love their Alcapurrias!
This rating is well deserved because they actually seal food for food delivery. Before they only tide bags and I swear some drivers were eating it because the portions were way smaller then what I knew they would give upon arrival. Thank you all for protecting your lazy customers like myself👏🏾👏🏾 …
First time here. Amazing food! Very friendly staff. Family feel.
Very good Puerto Rican food. We went there for lunch and the place was packed. Very popular with the troops at Fort Jackson.
We came up here to see our son graduate and wanted a feeling of home (Florida) very conveniently located right outside gates 2& 4, we loved the atmosphere the food was great I definitely recommend 5 stars ⭐️
Great place to enjoy different delicious authentic places from Puerto Rico❤️
The food was pretty good, but we enjoyed the service far better. My wife is PR and likes to visit this place from time to time.
When I tell you that the Cuban sandwich is amazing! I meant it! Best Puerto Rican food I have had in so long❤️
Incredible food and people! I love it here!
The food us amazing and the service...felt Like I was back in NY
The food is amaaaazzziiiinnnnggg!!!! After driving past this restaurant everyday for the last 5yrs, I finally stopped & tried it for the first time today. I'm so impressed. The establishment is very clean, the menu is very easy to follow, and the customer service is just as fantastic as the food. This is your sign: TRY IT ASAP!!!
The food is sincerely on point!👌 One of the best Puerto Rican restaurants in the states by far! The staff was kind and attentive. …
The food was delicious big portions too
My friend Jessica who lives in South Carolina took me to what she referred to as the Puerto Rican spot. We didn't go inside because there was food being sold outside that we grabbed. We both ordered one chicken and one beef empanadas and some other stuff. The food was good and even though we didn't order from the menu someone was kind enough to ask if everything was alright and if we needed anything. I definitely will be going back again whenever I'm in the area and I wonder what it's like on a Friday and Saturday night. It's a nice restaurant with good music and good service.
INCREDIBLE FOOD! I went here as a part of my “Want to Go” List and was not disappointed. The staff is awesome, service is quick, and food is worth the stop. It’s a little small inside, but somehow it makes the establishment that much better. Menu items are reasonably priced for the portions you receive.
A+
Had a hangover and their Sancocho brought me back to life. I love coming here it’s so family oriented and wonderful! I wish all restaurants were like this. They are always looking for ways to improve and satisfy customers! 10/10 for sure!
Awesome atmosphere. Came here when a friend from PR said "If you can find me mofongo it will make my Christmas". From the moment we saw the parking lot he was ecstatic. He said it's the most authentic thing he's had outside of PR. As newcomers the food was amazing, the service was great, and we plan on coming back anytime were in Columbia.
Love the authentic food and the service is great. We will definitely go back again.
The people at the restaurant are very nice and helpful. Kitchen style food, like eating grandmas on Sundays.
Super friendly the food is great , definitely recommend, lunch special is affordable restaurant is super clean
Everything we had tasted so good! Family run and authentic! Gluten free and vegetarian options.
The food here is always amazing, it's a small homely feeling you feel like family there. Everyone is friendly down to the owner. I would recommend it is always a 10/10 when I go.
I absolutely recommend this restaurant. It feels like home. They are always friendly and courteous. The food is great too. I love the stewed chicken and the green sauce is so fresh. I love coming here!
Everything is always good here, I had the red snapper and wasn't disappointed. The beans with the potatoes in them are so addicting as well as the rice. I'm Dominican and love to cook, I promise you won't not love this place. Everything is authentic and flavorful.
Our second visit. Has become our must stop on our drive from Dayton, OH to Charleston, SC. Food is best described as slow cooked awesomeness. The green garlic sauce should be sold by the gallon. The only difficult decision is green versus sweet plantains. Best answer is yes, just get both.
Amazing place make you feel welcome
Very friendly with delicious food
Great Puerto Rican food
Delicious! Friendly staff! Will be going back
Best food I've ever had outside of south Florida 10 out of 10 would definitely recommend it will forever be a stop when I travel
This Restaurant Is A Hidden Gem. I’ve Never Eaten Puerto Rican Food Before. The Empanadas Were Hot And Delicious. The Hog Maws Were Also Delicious. Everything About This Place Was Perfect. Everything From The Great Service To The Food.
Wow brought me back to NYC puerto rican food. The food here is tasteful and on point. I ordered the pernil, arroz con gandules, alcapurrias, and empandas. Don't forget to ask for extra mojo sauce. This establishment supports our troops and the owner is a Veteran. Very friendly and great for take out. I totally recommend if your looking for some authentic latin cuisine.
This is a place that you need to visit!! Best food I've had in a long time. Not to mention the music and family environment was 👌 …
We just picked a restaurant & stopped. This is a Puerto Rican restaurant. It has about 7 booths. The ladies taking our orders & cooking were pleasant & the food was very good. We had trifongo made of green & ripe plantains & yucca with pork. It was delicious as was the fried fish & the homemade sauces. Try it.
I had the pleasure of eating here for the first time tonight. The food is absolutely incredible! Flavorful and delicious! Their fried plantains were my favorite! I can’t wait to have a different dish the next time I go to experience more of this cuisine!
Awesome People From My BORINQUEN BELLA GREAT FOOD 💯!
Good Puerto Rican food
Lovely family
Yum
Good puerto Rican eats. Friendly staff.
AMAZING SERVICE AND BEST PUERTO RICAN FOOD AROUND!
Great place, food was delicious, plate size was more than enough. We will be coming back. Its worth the drive from Lexington
Our hostess was the owner she was very polite and informative about the menu. Did I say we were coming back?
I typically enjoy a good hole in the wall, but I wasn't too impressed with this place. First, let me just say, the service was great. The food was ok. It didn't wow me. However, the plantains were really good. Unfortunately, me and my party sat at a table in the back and we could occasionally detect a bathroom odor. It wasn't very pleasant.
Food is so delicious. Enjoy the Puerto Rican atmosphere. It's so much fun to see them continue to grow and expand as the years progress. Authentic Puerto Rican meals prepared fresh by Abuela. Buen provecho.
Absolutely delicious food and great service! La Isla Bonita catered an event for my school. They were so helpful and kind. It is a great family owned business!
What a gem 💎! Heard about this from my brother in-law after seeing my nephew at USC. We all wanted to eat boriqua food so we went to go see Doña Angela at her restaurant La Isla Bonita. Her food is authentic as can be. Very intimate, authentic with great pictures of service men and women and various pics of the island of Puerto Rico and past symbolic people. Thank you for the monfongo, steak and onions with coco rico. From Sacramento, California to South Carolina. We'll see you again for sure. 🇵🇷. The Ramos family
I like the food except for la alcapuria fria. The service have an opportunity to be better. The bathroom is very clean and organized. The dine in area will take that as an example and be the same. I am a BORICUA that want you to be and do better.
Thank you.
Our first time eating here... and OH MY... AWESOME! A new FAV!!! Very nice staff, friendly, comfy atmosphere! Love, Love, Love!! We traveled from Camden to try on the recommendation of a friend... short ride for such AWESOME food!!
When ever Im missing the taste of home. I go to La isla bonita. Staff is amazing, friendly and funny.
The Tripleta Sandwish, the Alcapurias, Morcillas (bloodsausage) the christmas dish. The desserts. Everything in the menu is so good.
You can't beat the price and the flavor of authentic Puerto Rican food.
I just want to give a HUGE shout out to this restaurant because we have been caring for a couple patients at the hospital who have been flown in from Puerto Rico and are now very homesick. So I ordered them dinner just to get them a little taste of home and when my husband went to pay for the meals the restaurant actually donated them! I already knew the food was great but clearly they also have heart!
One of my favorite restaurants.
Very family oriented at home feeling
Food is amazing.
Food is amazing! So glad I found this spot! Ive been looking for authentic Puerto Rican food for the longest!
Rice and beans beans dryer the i like pastel was ok nothing to write home about tostones were good not much you can do to screw them up pull pork way too salty and way too dry. I had an empanadilla y una alcapurria the empanadilla was good the alcapurria ok
Would i go back yes but just to try some diferent.
Did I eat everything la empanadilla la alcapurria la mitad del paster a mouth full of the dry salty.porl and 3 tostones half the rice and beans.
It need a lot more people to give an honest review.
There empanadas and potato balls are fantastic
This place is amazing family owned everyone is so nice and the food is evan better my mom use to make empanadas when I was younger so those bring it back to child hood for me definitely come try this place no way your disappointed
Great food and environment 👌 👍 😋 …
Absolutely amazing. Try the pork and yellow rice with sweet plantains. Owner was great fun and dessert was wonderful. Just go!
One year later had a chance to stop in again. Still great! Excellent food!
Like eating in Puerto Rico! Super friendly servers, great food.
Very good food, first time trying Puerto Rico cuisine, and this was delicious! I’m vegetarian, the beans, the fried Yucca, and whatever that green cilantro stuff is on the table was so so good, the women there make you feel like family! Will visit again ❤️❤️❤️
This was great! The food was authentic Puerto Rican food... Full of flavor, tender meats, authentic drinks!!! The owner and her family were super sweet and welcoming.... I felt like I was home with my family!!! Fast service and very attentive to her customers! Also, the price was very fair! Highly recommended!!!
If you're looking for something a bit different in Columbia try this place! I got an enormous fried pork chop, juicy and cooked to perfection, and mashed plantains. I opted for the sweet plantains at the very helpful server's suggestion but o think I'd go with the green variety next time.
Be forewarned: some of the staff don't speak much English and the menu may be a little intimidating (it does have English descriptions, but some aren't very clear). Also be warned that this place is very small so large parties may want to look elsewhere.
If you're patient with the language barrier and don't need a lot of seating I highly recommend La Isla Bonita! The food is delicious and everyone is very friendly.
The food was better when we dined here a few years ago. The establishment is incredibly small and cramped. Only one bathroom so it is very inconvenient when the place is busy. The service is wonderful. I always feel rushed when I eat here because there's always a line waiting to eat. Not many seating options for large parties.
We stumbled upon this little gem of a restaurant while visiting S. Carolina. I felt like we had taken a trip back to the island. The food was tasty and authentic..every bite better than the last. The Arroz con gandules was flavorful, the portions were very generous, and the staff and service were excellent. Nothing could have made this experience any better.
Very good.great atmosphere. We will be back
Nice cafeteria. Great customer service. El jibarito is awesome, fully recommended. I wish tables have more space, it's kind of crampy.
This place is great! Best Puerto Rican food I've had, other than my grandma's cooking of course. Its a bit pricey but you get a decent amount of amazing food. They have cola Champagne as well as other drinks that are hard to find in the States. Would recommend a visit.
PS: knowing a little Spanish would help with reading the menu even though there is English translations on it.
Amazing food and great family atmosphere. This is my go to place for real authentic Puerto Rican food. Totally worth the far drive and some Saturday’s they even have events with live music (check their Facebook page for dates). Honestly, the best PR food I’ve ever had and everything I’ve tried on the menu is delicious. Will be returning soon to try the Mofongo.
Extremely delicious food that took me back to Puerto Rico! Sweet, kind family. This is definitely the spot to get some great food.
First time we went this week and food was authentic like in Philly. Will be back this week!
Awesome family atmosphere.
Best Puerto Rican cuisine I've had in YEARS. Small hole in the wall with family friendly atmosphere, felt like eating at a buddy's house. I wish I could give this place 6 stars.
I had the roast pork with fried plantains, and a side of rice & beans. A-maz-ing.
Everything we had tasted amazing, from the empanadas to the Cubana. We also loved the authentic cultural ambience that the small restaurant provided. Overall amazing service, food, and experience! Highly recommend.
You guys this place its the real real deal on puerto rican food they got tostones arroz con gandules. Ohhh my the owner she is always there making sure everything its fine chachho good job people boricuas
This place has the best Puerto Rican food I’ve had in SC. Service is good, never had trouble parking or getting a table. It’s definitely got that hole-in-the-wall feeling, but don’t judge it from the outside. Great music, amazing food, reasonable prices. Love it!!!
I love this place! the staff and foods are amazing.
can't wait to go there when the band is playing !
Food is great here. And awesome people, it's like coming home to family you haven't seen in a while
Great food and staff was friendly. I had the chuleta frita.
Good food, great customer services. The mofongo and duofongo needs a little more season. The tostones were fresh, that was impressive. Las alcapurias are pretty good.
It's an ok establishment, people are friendly. Food too salty. Island varied dishes, but not the island robust flavors and seasonings. I think i enjoy my food cooking best. It's an ok place.
I like the place because it reminds me of my beautiful island of Puerto Rico, the food I ate was good but not what I wanted to eat...we live almost 2 hours away and before we went we called to ask if they had Red Snapper and we were told yes..a for sure yes..we got there and guess what? NO SNAPPER... That's why only the 4 stars. BUT I recommend it!! The owner is awesome lady and the Gam as well!!
GREAT FOOD!! buena comida!! I really love coming here. The food is very fresh and hot.
Was in Columbia for work and ate at a multitude of restaurants in the area. This was easily the best place I ate while there. The place doesn't look like much, and it's certainly small, but the food is incredibly flavorful and it was delivered hot and quick. Would recommend this eatery for anyone who enjoys Latin food or great food in general.
The food is usually great but tonight I purchased 4 dinners one pork chop and 3 pull pork and the food was too salty and the plantain was not ripe had no taste at all; was very disappointed. I guess everyone deserves a bad night🙁 …
Cuban sandwich was great, kids loved french fries.
I love this place. I've lived in Sumter for almost 2 years and have been dying to eat some authentic Puerto Rican food. This place has become my family's favorite spot. It's a very humble location, but definitely cannot judge a book by its cover. It's food is a 5 star for me. I am Panamanian and it was great to see they have some Panamanian food there too. I will definitely be visiting soon.
Great food, drinks and atmosphere
I ordered steak with onions, rice and beans with reg fry plantains plus beef and cheese empanadas. Omg this place really makes me feel like home(Boston ma). The food is worth it and very cheap prices. I highly recommend this place
Authentic Puerto Rican food. I went with my PR friends and they (and I) loved the food. The mofongo was delicious, I'd recommend a sweet-green mix. The PR drinks they have are great as well, juices and sodas you can find in the PR are here. Service was good, friendly staff that helped me get a good order. Definitely would recommend especially if you haven't tried Puerto Rican food before
The food was really good, I ordered a trifongo isleño and it was like I was eating at a restaurant in PR, my husband ordered pernil con arroz, habichuelas y tostones and he really enjoyed. Just to let you know the restaurant is very small and nothing fancy, very modest but they treat you with courtesy and definitely they cook with love.
My family and I where driving on our way back to Florida when we saw the flag, read the great reviews and decided to give it a try since we had to stop for lunch. We had una empanadilla de carne, una alcapurria, chuleta cancán con arroz con habichuelas, tostones, trifongo, lechón y arroz con gandules. Everything was amazing and full of flavor just like you would find in the island. The ladies were very friendly as well. We highly recommend it and we’ll sure stop by again next time we are in the area. 👌🏼👍🏼👍🏼
If you want an authentic puerto rican food this is the place.. 10/10
My husband and I ate here for the first time tonight and we were very satisfied! Brought back memories of my mother & grandmothers cooking. This restaurant is a hidden jewel in SC. The owner and waitress were so nice!
I give it 5 stars based on both the quality of the food and the atmosphere, which I loved. I really enjoy this kind of small friendly family restaurant.
My friend and I loved it and we will be going back again this weekend and often.
Where do a whole bunch of Puerto Ricans go to eat when they have been in basic training? This place right here!! Food was amazing and the service impeccable. Great atmosphere and a very funny proprietor.
Good tasty food ad always 🥰 …
This restaurant offers an authentic Puerto Rican dining experience. Veteran owned makes this place a worthwhile restaurant for any Foodie to have authentic Puerto Rican food served by a Veteran and her family. She is very welcoming and makes you feel at home. I highly recommend you to try the great food and experience Puerto Rican Hospitality!
Absolutely amazing Puerto Rican food. We tried nearly everything one weekend we visited Columbia. My favorite is the pollo guisado plate. Wow! My husband's favorite is the steak. But EVERYTHING on the menu is absolutely wonderful.
This the BEST place to go. The owner and her daughter, great you like family. My 1st time there, will come back. N I live in Fort Bragg.
Quaint venue, family ❤️ feel and fantastic smells. Owner is very personable as well as her daughter. Will visit again and boast about to all my New York friends.
Great place, the waitress are great, except a extra time waiting isn't a big restaurant, a lot pictures of boricuas artists, food is good remember isn't Puerto Rico but food is taste like be in Puertorro. Alcapurrias are great and the mofongo.
The food is always so good. The owner is such nice and loves sharing about the Puerto Rican culture. Recommend highly!!
I wish Columbia had more restaurants like this one. The diversity in food choices in Columbia is not that great. If you are visiting here from out of town I would highly suggest this restaurant. The only reason they don't get five stars is I think they need a larger for with more seating.
The food was delicious and plated creatively. The portions were huge, and the price was spot on cheap. The staff was amazing, friendly, and funny. Thank you for a great time.
My first time trying real Puerto Rican food it was great. My Husband is Puerto Rican and he said it reminds him of his mom's cooking growing up. A must try if you are looking for a good meal.
I came here with a friend who is Puerto Rican and who tipped me off on this place. He suggested I would be a repeat customer. I had the stewed chicken w/ yellow rice and beans, green plantains, and potatoes. It was delicious! "I'll be back!"
You fell welcomed like home and everyone is so loving. Thank you.
visited this restaurant the other day, the food was okay the alcapurrias were very good.service was ok I gave them 3 stars because they need to bring an itemized check and let customers know when they include tips. I felt like I tipped twice, also the restaurant needs attention when it comes to cleaning.
I had the mofongo de Camarones and it was very good. My only complaint is that their prices are to high for a place that I would still consider a "chinchorro". Staff was very friendly!
Its like family up in here. Warm and cozy, super good tres leches, great chuleta, they know what a good sofrito is and how it works. The mofongo really should be served hot, though, or it gets kinda not so great.
Awesome place nice people live music beer all tha Caribbean atmosphere I will comeback
Excellent ! A tiny place but big on friendly service .Authentic delicious Puerto Rican food ,very generous portions . Friendly colorful atmosphere . Loved it so much ! Yummy !
Family friendly, veteran friendly, amazing food. I will be going back for more.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, good affordable prices, and authentic food. 1st time customer but will definitely be
This place is hard to find but it's a oasis in the middle of South Carolina. Good authentic puertorican food. For those like me out of the island is a good place to find comfort food for us.
Need an update inside but the food is good and great portions.
Great food, great people. I enjoyed it very much.
If you're looking to satisfy your craving for Comida Criolla this is your place! Went on my vacation after 2 1/2 years of living out if PR 🇵🇷 and exactly a year after visiting the island and I have to say, this hit the spot! I had the "Mofongo con Carne Frita" my brother had the "Trifongo con carne frita" and my Sister-in-law and her family had the "Mofongo con Camarones al Isleño" everyone left satisfied and happy. THEY HAVE MEDALLAS! so if you're craving a cold one just say, hey... do you have Medallas!? And they'll tell you if the do! We also had "Sorullito con queso" and they delicious and homemade, and "Alcapurrias de jueyes" and they were just awesome! I'll definitely come back when I visit my brother! I just wish there was a piece of my little Island like this at South Dakota where I'm living right now!
The sevice was great from start to finish. The surullitos were a little cold but still delicious. The food had great flavor and was nicely presented. We got the mofongo with the Carne frita, the huge pork chop w/ rice & beans and tostones, the sandwich with the tostones as bread and the Carne frita and ff for the kids. I really loved it and will be going there again. :-)
We enjoyed several plates, Christmas Dinner, Mofongo w/ Shrimp, Fried Chicken with tostones and salad. Also Alcapurria for appetizers and Parcha. All was fresh and enjoyed. The service and atmosphere was fabulous...Puerto Rico is represented well!
Amazing! Second time ordering and was absolutely delicious and reminded me of grandma's cooking. Highly recommend for delicious Puerto Rican food!
Wonderful food!!! Must visit if you’re in Columbia. The empanadas were delicious
Lived in Jersey City, been through Brooklyn, Philly, and Miami. What makes a Latin restaurant amazing is competition. So theres a constant push to improve and be better. Isla Bonita doesn't have one and if you been outside SC, you can tell.
The food IS good, but nothing that amazes me. Tbh, most of it is seasoned with too much Adobo, the chicken is practically singing Bachata.
Great!!!! Crab and pork toast empanadas were great!!!
Best Puerto Rican food I have had the pleasure of eating in all of the Carolinas. Delicious food, home like environment. Can't wait to go again!
This was our first time, but certainly not our last. The food was authentic and delicious! We had an awesome server named Brendaliz and her mother did the cooking! #Team Jumoke
When to this place as a surprise for my wife. We enjoyed it food was awesome great service too.
Had a great meal with a friend who treated me. I will definitely go back. I recommend it!
Authentic puertorican food!!! Fresh made, I ordered a tripleta and it was so delicious!! Friendly service! Highly recommended 👌
I grew up in New York around all my Puerto Rican family, this is the first time since I moved from NYC that I felt like I was there. Thank you for the great food and service, I will be back!
The food was outstanding. Great service, and reasonable. Remind me of home. Too bad had a taste of going back there on a Monday found out they were closed Mondays and Tuesdays and open on Wednesday I am so sad wish they were open more days of the week
OMG I love this place. I was born & raised in PR so to be able to go to a place that serves the food you grew up eating is amazing. The environment makes me feel like I’m at Piñones & the staff is super friendly.
I must say I was a little concerned when I saw how the place looked outside and inside. But I am glad I found this place because the food was sooooo good!!! One of the best puerto rican restaurants I ever been to.
Authentic Deliciousness that takes you back to the enchanted island... I was stationed in Puerto Rico from 2002 until 2004. Since leaving I have longed for some of my favorite dishes without any luck, unless I attempt to mimic them myself. This effort never turns out exactly right. At #LaIslaBonita you will find all the magical meals that will either have you reminiscing of your time in Puerto Rico or will introduce you to all the culinary delights of the enchanted tropical island.
With my wife being Puerto Rican sometimes she would rather get that home cooked flavour without having to cook and this place taste just like Abuela would make it. Great mofungo and pernil!
Having a taste of my Island Puerto Rico in South Carolina was the best feeling ever. Great music, service and tasty food... A true Caribbean style! 😍🇵🇷 …
This place was the best Puerto Rican food I've had outside of the island! Gracias!!
Great place the food the drinks were amazing
I love the staff. Very homey and welcoming. Def my go to when I'm in need of Puerto rican food, which is rare to find to columbia
Really excellent and fast food. I enjoyed the pork fried plantain sandwich. The staff were quick, effective, and polite. Eat here!
This restaurant was the real deal from the people to the food and to the drinks! Amazing and worth the drive for us! Took me back to when I was a child and back home with family! Thank you guys for a amazing dinner!! 💗 …
Great little restaurant, it does give me the feel of being on the island, the moment I walk in. The food is amazing. Must try their tripletea, It will feed 2 people.
Excellent fresh P. R. food, allways welcomes you in like your family 🥰
The Food was very good and fresh. The service was God and the lady was very pleasant. I would defiantly come again next time I visit Columbia, SC. I'm here visiting my son, I went to visit three base and came Across La isla bonita! 👍👍👍💖 …
Delicious ! My husband found this restaurant ... reminds me of my mother’s food. The food is 100% authentic ! Small and cozy in a environment. You won’t be disappointed ...😋 …
The BEST place to get real Puerto Rican food in Columbia. Hands down. The staff is so friendly, the food is consistently amazing.
Great food and super friendly staff. Thank you for bringing my island here.
I've been eating here since 2005. This is the best Puerto Rican food in Colombia. The owners are very kind, too.
Very good and tasty just like back in the island and we lived in Florida for 6 years and there's a lot of Puerto Rican food out there but this place it's by far the best here in South Carolina I highly recommend it
Bravo! Outstanding! I just finished a table of food here and I’ve been wowed. Truly one of the best restaurants in Columbia.
Very very down to earth and beautiful personalities. You get the feeling of walking into a real Puert Rican house and just grabbing a plate lol. Rich and friendly atmosphere. I loved it.

Best empanadas ever, mango juice was on point family-owned super super recommended everywhere is great helpful nice if you're in the area make sure you stop
Great taste, flavorful, and great portion. Much try for food lovers.
Awesome food! Wish they'd expand a little to make it bigger. But definitely has a feel of home.
Hidden jewel in Columbia. Highly recommend. Sweet staff and very helpful with choosing your meal. Food was great and a unique change of pace.
When you want REAL AUTHENTIC food, and don't mind the drive, it's worth it. They are a loud and fun bunch of people too and they are real! No playing a part of the Puerto Rican culture, cause they are it.
"Wonderful service and our waitress was very kind and happy."
"The fish was so over cooked i thought they gave me chicken."
"Salad was spoiled and had yucky lettuce, terrible service."
Food is soo good !! & they are so friendly great customer service can’t wait to come back next time I’m in town !!!
If you know anything about -- and really LIKE -- real Puerto Rican food, this is the place for you. Homemade flavors like you might get in somebody's abuela's house in Borinquen.
Rice & beans, done right! Pernil! ¡Ay bendito, que rico es! Soft drinks like you find in mom-and-pop places on the Island: Malta India, Coco Rico, Kola Champagne, and more.
The best comida criolla my family has found -- so far -- between the Florida state line and Nueva York.
delicious is the only word that comes to mind. Authentic Puerto Rican food. Small facility but worth the takeout. you'll enjoy it.
This place is amazing my family and I drive from West Columbia quite often to eat. The food is always delicious and the service is even better!

Food was okay nothing to brag home about, but the Alcapurrias were very good...the owner is hilarious, gives you the impression you are sitting at a Tias house! Very homey.
