Overall I was happy with the experience. Food wasn't spectacular but still good. Seating is only 15 or so diner stools. From my one experience be ready to sit next to strangers, however by the time I left it was empty. Food was served quickly and overall I enjoyed it.

Stopped in the other night, can't stress how much I love this place. A very cozy diner, with huge portions and great prices. The cook is a really cool guy, very relaxing setting. I don't know how much longer I'll be in Chicago, but I know this is one of the places I'll miss. I cannot wait to go back, I have to try every item. It's like a simpler but better Dennys food wise.

I love this diner. It’s giving those old school feels with them cooking right in front of you. I don’t eat beef anymore but the burger here was always so good. Good crispy hash browns and eggs that will cure any hangover. Which leads me to my next point they are open 24hrs so great after bar spot if your hungry and if your lucky Robert will be there he is my favorite and a great cook.

I dined in with my father and we are new to the area. Safe to say this place is a gem! Customer service is top tier and is very clean. A very friendly environment. I had left my phone here and was able to come back and get it with no issues. Got a lovely welcome and will return again! I didn't eat here, but I had a glass of kool-aid or some kind of sugary juice they had on the counter. I asked which one I should try between 2 options and they recommended I blend them together so we did just that. It was delicious. Service was fast and friendly and the juice was just what I needed. They have my endorsement. I'd go there again.

Why do I keep making the mistake of ordering lunch food from diners? Diners are made for breakfast. Just get breakfast food. Popped in to grab a burger and onion rings, which were resoundingly "fine." You can tell they don't change their grease often enough, so everything just tasted a bit *off*. Not terrible, but as I ate and got less and less hungry, it tasted less and less good. That said, the pancakes and hashbrowns cooking on the griddle looked fantastic. Don't make the same mistake I did and you'll probably be happy with it.

The food here is DELICIOUS! Perfect for a hangover I’d say. I’ve only ever ordered pickup, which is quick and speedy pick up times, my food is always ready when I get in. However, I would definitely make sure you know the amount of your order before you pick up your product, I’ve been over charged on orders before. So just be mindful when picking up.

HONEST REVIEW: I came here at about 3:32 PM on a Monday afternoon. It was busier than usual, but the survice was still A+ ! I got a 2x4, 2 bacons 2 sausages 2 eggs 2 pancakes for $6.50 plus $1 for sum hash browns . Bacon and hash browns were super thicc , 5/5 would dine again.

I drive by Dons grill when I deliver in the area and always wanted to stop in, so I googled Dons Grill and made the trip from the South Suburbs on a Saturday morning! I was not disappointed, the breakfast was awesome, I had the ham and cheese omelet with Hashbrowns, a side order of pancakes and toast! My wife had the biscuits and gravy and scrambled eggs and loved it! I’m thinking there’s twenty stools at the counter to sit and they have a small parking lot with also street parking! All different people from all walks of life eat here and I noticed a really good take out business! It was really cool watching your food being prepared from scratch right in front of you, this is how it was back in the day and Dons keeps it alive! Highly recommended for breakfast, will try a burger in the days to come!

Excellent food, small amount of space. Great if you're anything like me and just wanna stop for ten minutes to eat something with some weight to it. Had the country fried steak, scrambled eggs, and hash browns with pancakes, and used my friend's toast to make a pancake sandwich 😶 everything was 🔥, and they had green habanero sauce available when I asked for hot sauce 🤤👌 suggested if you're nearby early in the day

I have been eating here for almost 59 years. Since I was two. Believe it or not, the place has not changed much over the years. Still top shelf burgers. Still friendly grill-men. Still the eclectic neighborhood. Just a pleasure to visit. The gentlemen that worked when we visited, could not be nicer or more attentive. The 2x4 special was pretty good! Pancakes were soft and the sausage was tasty. The hash browns were a bit bland and could’ve used more salt, same with the eggs, but overall a good meal. My partner had the steak and thought it was a bit rubbery, it looked a little over cooked. There was less food in the meal than I thought there’d be, but that‘s probably because it’s take-out. Small joint, I’d definitely come back to try other dishes once it’s safe to dine-in again 👍🏽

Sit-down meals are allowed, but some seats are partitioned off to allow for social distancing rules. The food tastes good but they still have value pricing. The staff are wonderfully kind and efficient. It's a great place that makes you feel like a part of the neighborhood. Dishes: I got the fried pork with country gravy, eggs and hash. It was really good (and it's hard to find good country gravy at restaurants)! The eggs were cooked perfectly. And the pancakes were nice and fluffy. I'm so glad this place made it thru COVID. They're the best!

There were five of us that entered the restaurant at same time. The place was clean with no other customers. The cook was the cashier and waiter. He took everyone's orders and made the breakfasts quickly. It was a lot to prepare. I ordered 2 sausage, 2 bacons, 2 scramble eggs with cheese with mushrooms and green peppers, 2 pancakes and ham on the side with coffee. My pancakes were cooked perfectly and I liked the syrup. He served coffee or tea as well to others. There were many other large breakfasts to prepare. I was impressed. Two more people came later and order.

I worked here in 1975 when it was a real gritty 24 hour place with breakfast anytime. A regular rotation of 12th District guys coming in 2 at a time to knock a couple years off their life around the clock. Everyone was addicted to the coffee that came out of the tanks that were never cleaned. The last time I worked I think it was with Jerry Gossage, kin to the Gossage Grill chain. And it was Don’s Humburgers not Hamburgers.

Don's Grill is a classic! Close your eyes and picture a quintessential neighborhood joint and when you'll see Don's. The food is perfect short order fare and the atmosphere is spot on if you want a diner feel. All of the seating is at the counter and don't worry if there's a line...the wait is never long. The staff is friendly and efficient. Don's is open 24 hours a day, but we usually go for breakfast (though I have friends who swear by their burger). Our 2 year old daughter is always with us, too. They have a high chair, but we bring a clip on booster seat that ends up working well with the stools. We love Don's Grill. You should check it out

Don's Grill is one of only a few places in the area open 24 hours. It's great for an early breakfast or a late dinner, or vise versa. It's a small diner, breakfast and burgers type place, clean and friendly. No dirty grill smells. The prices are about the same as most, but the food is good. My most popular order is the breakfast with the ham off the bone, Delicious.

This place is way far of being fancy. It is a honest place and I would usually rate a place like this with 3 stars in the most optimistic scenario.... But... It is always open, Saturday and Sunday, night and day and on celebration day too. It is Christmas? Are you starving? Don is probably open. The food is typical american, more breakfast oriented (breakfast served 24 hours on 24) and if you like the style... it is not bad at all. The service is fast and the personnel is very nice. In addition it is not expensive !!! I would not recommend it for a date or a special night, but when you are hungry Don is what you are looking for.

Didn't took a lot of pictures because i devoured it! Loved the place, Don was so nice and caring; he refilled my drink when i didnt ask and he was always nice and joyful. I eat a lot and normally i would eat the entire thing, but since the hamburger is big and i barely finished it: the freshness of the lettuce, tomato and pickle combined perfectly with the juicy, thick beef, the grilled, melted cheese and the crispy bacon! I am absolutely coming here again:)

Late night grease spoon, good for a quick breakfast. This place has been around for a long time and has always been a neighborhood joint. Burgers are decent and sandwiches are made to order. Small parking lot available, no gluten free items that I saw.

A 24/7 Greasy spoon (clean though) , good pricing, good hamburgers, fast service and you can have conversation with cook and other patrons. Been there a few times now, never a miss on the food. So it's kind of my local go-to when I just need to grab something.

Lying in my bed at the time craving breakfast, I decided on visiting 'Don's Grill' despite the many diners I could have visited within a shorter radius of my apartment. Don's has always captured my eye while driving enroute to Little Village neighborhood, intriguing me with its old-fashioned diner appearance. Furthermore, I walked in to Don's immediately looking for a seat which there were not many in its small dining area. I was fortunate to find a seat next to an older friendly gentleman out of the few open with some held by customers belongings which was slightly irritating. The dining area appeared just like its old-fashioned exterior which makes me personally think about my teenage years working at Steak 'n Shake. During my visit I could not help but to continuously think how small the kitchen area is, but the employees coincide perfectly together like one machine; serving its customers despite working all in the same area. It works out because they catch things other restaurants miss, such as that customer needing to order, a customer needing a fill-up on a beverage, or even that customer ready to check out. All you have to do is sit there an admire this tight-knit, well-lubricated machine and best believe someone will get right to you. As for my order, I ordered the 'Ham off the Bone & Eggs' despite taking an interest in the 'Ham Scrambler' which is pretty much the same thing even though with the scrambler you get 3 Eggs instead of 2, the ham is diced, and the price is 50 cents more. Customer service was so quick that I did not get the chance to read the book I brought or let alone make future plans. Hell, once I ordered I hopped on Yelp to add notes and before I knew it my food was in front of me which I cannot complain. And literally, I was asked three different times by three different employees if I wanted hot sauce which is how mindful this machine works. Attentive during my visit; taking visual notes of the heartwarming employee-to-customer interaction which had a friendly holiday spirit like vibe. It prompted me to interact with the employees in realization that I was in a genuine place, as well as realizing that Don's is truly a hidden gem! In closing, I'am quite positive that I will return because I enjoyed my meal, as well as the positive environment at this restaurant. With that being said, I most definitely recommend Don's Grill. ~Blessings~ Thomas G

Millennials stay away. Old school diner with gluten and all the good stuff normal people aren't worried about. No avacado no bottled water and the napkins aren't recycled. I love it. Great place for regular working stiff to get a quick bite and get back to work.

Ahhhh..its ok..got a cheeseburger and it was pretty bad i hate to say cause i love supporting small local businesses. The meat was def an ALDI type premade frozen thin greasy patty. Great breakfast! Real eggs used not like McDonald s. Bacon crisp ham off the bone great. Cheeseburger use real beef no fillers. Lettuce tomatoes crisp. Great spot if you are on budget. Parking lot free. Little murky at night after midnite due to gangbangers and drunks.

This is a burger joint. It's not a reimagined free range organic homemade petting zone with niblets. This is a solid lunch joint that serves a solid breakfast too. Seating is entirely counter but they do a brisk take out business. The small space fills up quickly on the weekends and the staff is efficient and friendly at turning over seats. Probably not ideal for infants or toddlers, seating is all stools but for older kids it might be a fun experience. They have some parking available.

Great burger. Get the cheeseburger with everything. I would put their burger up there with Topnotch Beefburger (on 95th). No frills, just an old school place to get great comfort food in a charming old-Chicago setting. There is seating for about 15 people at the counter, and carryouts are welcome; definitely a must for the Chicago gastro-anthropologist. The staff is nice.
