Reviews of The Albany
The food was average, and the waitress was impossible to understand. This is not a great place for any international people who are looking for a good experience. The atmosphere is great if you want to have a real American restaurant experience, yet no diverse guest profile.
I had dinner here with my wife on a Monday night. We got there right at 5pm, when they open, and were seated right away. The food was good. I had the prime rib, and my with got a chicken Caesar salad. We split a warm brownie sundae. Our server was nice.
Excellent!! BEST prime rib I've ever had. Seriously. All the food was delicious, from the good salads, the sides, the meat. Service was great, our waiter was polite, friendly, and attentive. The fresh blueberry pie was amazing too. Oh, and they make excellent mules.
A GREAT place to eat and drink. Drove over fifty miles to try the food and the atmosphere. The place is amazing. Great food, excellent service and the staff is a hoot, on the good side. We will be back every time we get to Cheyenne, where there are more cowboys and cowgirls!
This is a rustic feel good restaurant. The decor is not fancy and seating is limited, but what it lacks in flash and dash is made up for by the staff and food. Every staff person we encountered met us with genuine smiles, warm greetings, and went out of their way to make sure your every need was taken care of. As for the food ... Fantastic is the word! The prime rib tasted amazing and the portion was HUGE! This was my first time eating here, and I was extremely pleased with the choice!
We loved our dinner experience here. The atmosphere is perfectly Wyoming. Great food choices on the menu, the fish and chips is so worth getting! They have a full bar. Also, it is a kid friendly place. The Staff is nice, fast, and efficient. Definitely stop in if you are in Cheyenne.
At 5 o clock sharp, we got in and ordered an end piece of the prime rib to split. The restaurant was already full! The prime rib was tender, flavorful, and delicious. We got it with a side of salad and green beans, so added some slices of bread for the jus.
The highlight was definitely the "strawberry rhubarb cobbler" with a scoop of ice cream. The biscuit was fluffy with a hint of salt, balancing the strawberry/rhubarb filling so well. Not complete without the scoop of ice cream though!!!
Service was good, facility was clean, and the food was delightful. Lots of spaces in the free parking a block down the road.
We were visiting, and spent one night. Visited the capital and Supreme Court, then the historic train depo. Thirsty, we saw the Albany and went in. Quiet friendly bar at that time of day. We asked our server about food in the area, she said, “Come here! We have the best prime rib.” So we did, returning right at opening time. There was a line out the door, and we were seated back in the bar area, perfectly fine with us. We both had prime rib dinners, came with potato and one side. I had a salad, my wife tried the clam chowder, said it was the best! Our plates came with a huge portion of prime rib, perfectly done. It was fantastic, and very reasonable. With drinks it was 61$ before tip. Great time.
After an absence of a few years, my wife and I decided to go here for lunch yesterday. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. The food was good, but not the best I have had. The ambience was an older style American West and while the tables were smaller, it didn't feel cramped.
We ordered two large salads and two desserts. The grilled chicken Caesar salad was good, but the Chef salad was peppery. It did not seem like a great deal of thought was put into preparing the Chef salad as everything looked jumbled on the plate with strips of cold cuts just thrown on the top.
We will definitely go back to try their cooked meals including the Prime Rib for which they seem to be most famous.
However, the one thing I will brag on is the desserts. We ordered a bread pudding and a cherry cobbler. AMAZING! Probably the best we have ever had of each one. Had I known they were that big, I probably would have ordered a smaller salad.
Great little rustic, down home place. Fantastic folks, and great service. The prime rib was amazing. It was cold unfortunately, but cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. The bread pudding was to die for. Definitely a repeat place when I'm in town.
Good local place with lots of cowboy atmosphere. Excellent dessert choices. Be sure to try the prime rib sandwich, slab of prime on a bun! Was a little disappointed that such a good piece of beefwas joined with such a disappointing bun. Will try them again. Service was great. Try the Bull Nuts for appetizer, large serving easily shared.
First time visiting Cheyenne and this place caught our eye as soon as we drove into town. The building is nostalgic, the service was comforting and the food was awesome. Had the grilled ham and Swiss and chicken tortilla soup. The soup was some of the best I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to go back again soon.
Good ol' American diner. Great food and variety. Service is always awesome. Can't beat the prices. Be sure and try the cobbler and check out the old-time photos of Cheyenne in the 1800's. Cool stuff!
This place was DELICIOUS!! So glad we waited for them to open & didn't go somewhere else. The staff was friendly, the food was delicious. Reminded me of the local neighborhood restaurants that are hard to come by these days. This place is EXCELLENT and I will visit on my next trip to Cheyenne. Stop reading reviews and go now!!
The place is historic with stable ownership and a great homestyle menu that's worked great for over 40 years. The red and green chili is terrific. Terrific hot beef and turkey sandwiches. Prices are reasonable..great period atmosphere with historic photos everywhere.
Absolutely wonderful dining experience, I had the hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy, my wife had the French dip. Both were delicious. The waitress was the best. I’m glad we picked this restaurant for dinner.
Love the Albany! The history of the Albany is on display the moment you arrive which is amazing. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the service is amazing and the food is fantastic! I LOVE the prime rib sandwich! The prime rib is melt is melt in your mouth delicious! Highly recommend the Albany!
Just there last week, Had been traveling for 2 weeks. The prime rib sandwich was the best and the mashed potatoes were almost as good as mine. Our server was extremely attentive and very personable. Cannot recall his name but he was a gem. We also went to the bar side and were served by the sweetest (Halloween-loving) mixologist. Great downhome cooking with a Wyoming-friendly atmosphere.
Located in a historical building downtown Cheyenne with amazing and intriguing architecture.
Both myself and my colleague had the Reuben, it was fresh and delicious. My cole slaw was perfect.
Kate was a no-nonsense server who was quick and efficient.
Finished off lunch with an awesome slice of Pecan Pie.
A great tradition for dinner and lunch in Cheyenne. Many items on the menu I love. Highly recommend the Prime Rib sandwich. If you are very hungry then suggest the full Prime Rib for dinner.
Classic home town place. Good food. Son loves the prime rib sandwich and trout. Open face turkey, French dip and all others are tasty. Friendly staff with good service.
We ate here last night. My husband has been wanting a good prime rib and he said this was the best one ever! I had the special, sausage and the works. I had so much food that I couldn’t eat half of it. The food was amazing as well as the staff. I would highly recommend this place!
Rustic restaurant serves no lots of great conform food. The prime beef sandwich was not quite warm enough. The country fried steak was solid but if it wasn’t for the gravy it would have been a little bland. The southwestern soup was awesome!! They kid burger and chicken tenders were pretty standard.
Didn't realize that dinner hour's started at 5 p.m.
We arrived at 4:30, but the hostess let us sit and wait for the waitress get there at 5. Nice atmosphere.
The restaurant just oozes history. Food is beyond fantastic as everything is home made. This is a must stop for any visit to Cheyenne and it has become one for my wife and I.
Fresh and Delicious, homemade food. I had the chicken fried steak, absolutely delicious. The wife had the hot turkey sandwich, it was delicious. One of my kids is a picky eater, they accommodated. We got an order of cheese sticks and added 3 fried shrimp to it. Thanks for a great time and some great home cooked food.
Just what we needed on a day trip to Cheyenne. Old west feel, outrageously great service, super tasty food. Prime rib sandwich and bull nuts are awesome
This was a nice little bar. A lady from the gift shop accoss the street said that she would not eat prime rib unless it was from the Albany. And honestly, I can't complain one bit. I ordered the prime rib sandwich and I was quite satisfied. It was cooked to perfection, served with pickles and very strong horseradish. There was also au jus sauce to dip it in, which I did not even bother to try because the meat was too good. It wasn't too pricey either for what you got.
Overall, I would recommended trying this place.
Our food was excellent. We had quick service from hostess, bartender and waitress. Reasonable prices on all items. Order drinks at their bar while we waited for our table. As soon as we were seated we were greeted by a friendly and courteous waitress. We ordered water and appetizer of bull nuts. They were not overcooked and came promptly. My salad was fresh and the homemade salad dressing was delicious. Their house favorite, the open prime rib sandwich was delicious and tender. Their chile Rellenos were also good. It was the annual Frontier Days so lots of people but still had great service and fresh food.
This is the best steak I’ve ever had. I usually get the prime rib medium rare. There are no words to describe how amazing it is. Everything here is made to perfection and delicious. The service here is also amazing.
Small, intimate dining setting. The food is still as good as I remember from 25 years ago. As my uncle has recommended for longer than I've been alive, best chicken fried steak in town.
Not fancy, not trying to be. Just what we wanted after a long day of driving. Steak, trout, WY beer, finished off with some fantastic blueberry pie. Our server June was great, no-nonsense. Would visit again.
I wanted to like this place, I went in with few expectations. Basically a local watering hole, they make a strong Old Fashioned, but the bar area literally smelled like a toilet bowl... It was hard to ignore. I left my drink half full to get some fresh air.
Enjoyed our Friday night dinner with you guys. Facility was clean, staff were very polite , and my medium rare prime rib sandwich was to die for. Highly recommended, parking can be a little tight depending on the time of day. Will be returning soon.
Nice place. Good food. Great service. We loved their potatoe and ssusage soup. Mmmm!
It's always a good sign when a restaurant is _packed_; as The Albany was this evening. I had a Reuben sandwich (which was absolutely delicious), but the best part of the meal was a cup of bean and ham soup. Whatever the soup is, you _must_ have a cup of the freshly made soup.
Our server Carla was absolutely fantastic. She was on top of our drinks and food. And, she even spent time talking with us. What a sweetheart.
All-in-all, The Albany was a great place to eat and I can't recommend it enough.
Great service and great food. We had a short stay in Cheyenne and decided to try The Albany. Our server Joe did an outstanding job. I had the Eggplant Marinara and was one of the best eggplant meals I have ever had. Eggplant Parmesan is one of my favorite dishes and this help up to any that I have had. Will tell friends and family if ever in the area to try this establishment.
Excellent comfort food served in a unassuming but comfortable dining room. This place has been in business a while and I can understand why.
Good food. Attentive Server. The atmosphere was conducive for conversation.
Great food but amazing service. Our server must have been training and the girls who were learning are so lucky because the lead waitress was top notch. We all got something different at the table, however my husband and I split the prime rib. There was plenty of food for both of us and it was cooked perfectly. They went above and beyond for our table. Also, they made my night because I had formula for our soon I needed to keep cool and they brought me a bucket with ice to help us out.
Love this place and we love Kristin. She’s a great bartender and a great employee for the Albany. We always sit at the bar so we can be her customers. Also great food and drinks
What makes this dated (historic) eatery an experience is the down home feeling, comfort food menu and overall historic atmosphere. What lifts this eatery to a place we love to visit is the friendly and fantastic staff!
You cannot beat the food here. The prime rib is the best I've had, they also have real pork green chili which is a rarity for Wyoming.
The prime rib sandwich has been the best in town for always. The staff is always amazing and pleasant especially today.
Great tasting food at a reasonable price! Friendly staff too!
While the exterior doesn't inspire thoughts of great food, that is what resides inside. It is very clean, the staff was nice and the food was top notch. They roast actual turkey breast for the sandwiches and it makes all the difference.
I had the open face turkey sandwich which came with delicious mash potatoes and gravy. My wife had soup and salad. I think she commented at least three times on how good the soup was. I will definitely stop in as I pass through again.
This place is amazing went back home to Chyenne wyo to visit my brother and sister in law the staff me me feel at home and the food was down home cooking will be back there in June 2023 and am definitely going to stop in here to eat ❤
So went for the prime rib. It was mouthwatering good I upgrade another 5oz and medium rare. Absolutely scrumptous. Baked potato was piping hot. Now the battered
mushroom appetizer not so hot. They reminded me of frozen they little tiny things sorry no pic but the ranch dressing was good. I would have given 5 stars but the service was not great. Once we got our meal never saw the waiter again.
Great little restaurant bar diner diner in the middle of Cheyenne. The food was absolutely absolutely perfect and the green chili was the best I've ever had
Super fresh homemade food that's very delicious and served with a smile! I hope we get to come back here soon.
Prime rib was pretty good, prime rib sandwich is really just a slab of prime rib, a bun, two pickles, and a 1in sqare of lettuce.
Food was awesome! Cooked to perfection.
Wait staff appeared to be under-trained, this included the hostess.Hostess never asked for name to be put on call list. We had to go back to her & request adding our name to that list. Waitress never offered water with our meal. She was asked to bring extra butter to table. When she finally showed back up she stated she got side tracked but never apologised.
When asked how the Walley was prepared she stated "cooked apologized.
Wonderful place. It is my favorite Cheyenne restaurant.
Had the prime rib, cooked medium. Very hearty portion and great flavor. Nice atmosphere. Place was absolutely packed, which slowed service a bit - but understandably so.
We eat here regularly! This is a great local restaurant. Always good food. They have some awesome specials. Staff and service are great. They don't disappoint.
Great old school steak house and bar. Service and food were very good. Do yourself a favor and stop here.
Fun old time atmosphere. Good service. Food was ok. My husband got the reuben and I got the prime rib sandwich. We each ordered an extra side salad as well. My husband liked his sandwich. Mine was ok. Wouldn't order it again. It's the oldest place in Cheyenne so I guess worth a visit but I doubt we will go back. Just not great.
Every time I come from California. This is the spot I have to eat at with my family. Best Prime Rib ever.
Good food and good atmosphere. Reminded me of home (Texas). You won't regret eating here. Life can have many regrets - the Albany is not one of them. Eat here in peace.
Decent place. I ordered the chicken fried steak. Unfortunately, it's a pan fried style & not deep fried. As a result, it wasn't up to my expectations in taste. Otherwise, very clean and well maintained.
Excellent staff. Very good food.
Didn't pay attention, was charged $4.50 for take out. Will think twice the next time. Don't know if it's worth it.
Amazing food! And always wonderful service. 10/10 would recommend
Nice place & friendly service! U could definitely tell it was a nice family owned business. Come to find out, it has been in the family for 67 years! Literally the only place in Cheyenne that serves corned beef & cabbage plate on St. Patrick's Day! Thank u! It was so delicious!
The place was packed! But the service was great but unsurprisingly a little slow. Food was good and they comped our drinks because of the wait. Which we were totally surprised they did that because we didn't complain and expected them to be slower due to the crowd. Vee satisfied and full when we left.
The best place for our St. Patrick's day meal of corn beef and cabbage with potatoes and carrots. A Guinness stout to drink. Friendly staff.
We had the hot, open faced turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy and the prime rib dinner. Both were excellent. The wild berry pie was delicious.
Still figuring out Cheyenne so we tried Albany late tonight. Wife had the French dip and I had the patty melt. Both were tremendous. However the best part was bartenders who made the experience all worth it.
The Albany has been around successfully for a long time!! Why….. because it’s amazing!! Great atmosphere, good food!
Everything was great. I had the prime rib sandwich. Awesome. Cool atmosphere.
Great food and friendly service. Wonderful desserts - recommend the Bread Pudding! Prime Rib excellent!
Our family stopped here over Thanksgiving break only because of the rustic outside look of the restaurant— and they did not disappoint! The food was plentiful and flavorful. The mushroom appetizer was excellent, and they give you plenty of ranch dressing. The prime rib sandwich was huge! The owner/manager came over and noticed that we were obsessed with all the historical pictures and invited us to see a pic from their office of the train that used to go next door— in fact, he shared history that this building was even MOVED from its original site! Great history and fun memories made for our family on our journey through Cheyenne. Thanks to The Albany for their hospitality and down-home welcome to this Floridian family.
We had a party of five and everyone seemed to like their meals. My personal meal was a tuna on rye and the tuna was pretty fishy. The waitress was very kind, helpful and the restaurant was clean
My wife and I were referred to The Albany by our hotel, and it was a great recommendation. The casual atmosphere of a genuine local bar and restaurant was just what we wanted. The staff were very friendly, and the menu contained lots of tasty things. But, the proof of a restaurant is the food, and this is where The Albany excelled. We had a superb Greek salad as an appetizer. For dinner the strip steak was cooked to perfection and was delicious. The wild mushroom soup was exquisite. The service from Whisper was friendly and efficient.....and very homey. We had a wonderful time and a wonderful dinner.
Prime rib sandwich was good. Side of onion rings.
Love the vibe here. Prime rib sando with mashed potatoes and white gravy. Horseradish in the gravy and on the sandwich makes my world go round. The new ownership is awesome and the staff is on point.
Tons of attention. Great food. One of the best draft selections in Cheyenne… I will always frequent this place wherever I’m in Cheyenne.
It’s a great location that you should definitely check out!
Classic Wyoming bar and restaurant. Steaks are great. Hot Beef, open face sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy, was delicious. Kids meals were very generous in serving size. A kids burger and french fry basket was too large for our 10 year old. Quick service. Only a short wait to be seated during Frontier Days visit.
Excellent food, great waitress, enjoyed the evening very much
The Albany has a menu sure to please any craving. The food is always good whether it's the steak, chicken or Mexican dishes. June was our server, she is always kind and is on top of her game. LOVE THIS PLACE!
Nice place and good food. Would definitely go back.
My favorite place to grab a sandwich in Cheyenne. The fish and chips is a favorite of mine as well.
Great restaurant. They did not disappoint. Friendly atmosphere with yummy food. We will absolutely come back.
Traveling cross country and stopped in late. Food was delicious - we ordered the fried mushrooms, country fried steak and french dip. Waitress was great. Clean. Was confused about the attached parking lot, wasn't sure if it was only for the Albany liquormart next door or also for the restaurant.
Nice place to get lunch. Really liked their Prime Rib Sandwich that comes with soup.
We came for prime rib but it was gone! Must be good if its gone. Next time!
Fish & chips was fabulous, old fashion roast beef sandwich was very good & the homemade bread pudding with caramel sauce & whip cream was amazing. Only way to improve it would be if it was served warm. Server Colleen was wonderful!
Food was decent. Service was OK. Reasonably priced. Go early or go late.
Consistently good eats and friendly staff, it's a Cheyenne institution you should visit! We go for the prime rib a few times a month and it has never let us down!
Excellent prime rib. Great bartender and laid back ambiance. I go there every time I past through Cheyenne and they never disappoint. Highly recommended.
Great place, great food, the staff was amazing and very considerate as well as caring.
Delicious...great service. Love the atmosphere!
Good service especially at such a busy time. Food wasn't great but not bad either. Salad was literally lettuce with a couple tomatoes and a slice of cucumber. They ran out of prime rib after we had already ordered so we had to change to New York strip which was a little overcooked and not very tasty. The Bleu cheese topping did help. Mashed potatoes were very plain and served with brown gravy which wasn't mentioned. We sat on the bar side which was not a great idea as there was a concert going on in the park across the street and everyone was coming in the bar area for drinks and the restroom.
Nice lunch with two former bosses who guided and provide numerous opportunities to me over the last 15 years at BLM Wyoming. The atmosphere and food was exceptional!
Fantastic!!! Service, Food, Ambience! We are never disappointed.
*best patty melt I've had in a long time.
Wonderful atmosphere! Extremely helpful staff who were knowledgeable of the full menu! Prices reasonable! The surrounding area beautiful! Within walking distance of everything downtown. Will definitely come back to this restaurant when we come back to town!
Not a fan of the chili on the chili dog :( husband enjoyed his food and the carrot cake.
Nice ambiance, good food, great service.
Attentive staff. Nice old-fashioned decor. Had the Cobb salad which was ok. I don't particularly care for blue cheese crumbles and it would've been nice to be able to substitute. Hubby had steak sandwich which was served on two pieces of plain bread. The bread was dry and so was the steak. So ok but not great.
Another amazing experience from the kind people of Cheyenne, WY. The Albany delivered a wonderfully prepared and delicious Prime Rib dinner. My son had a patty melt that he thoroughly enjoyed. The staff provided top notch service and I cannot recommend The Albany more.
I had a great prime rib sandwich for lunch. Service was fast and friendly. Cool historic building. I recommend a visit.
Hadn't been here in a couple years as we live an hour south. Came here tonite as they closed dine in restaurants in Colorado. The service and food was really great. My prime rib was the best I've had in a long time. My wife's sirloin was excellent too.
Under new owners visit last week great, this week uncooked breading on zucchini and brownie sundae now has raspberry sauce.. Could not eat zucchini as mealy and dessert wasnt the same, wanted a CHOCOLATE sundae now choc & Raspberry.
Great dinner!! I hadn't been to the Albany in years (don't know why), and my husband and I decided to give it a try again on a Friday night. He got the prime rib and it was so so. I got the chicken fried steak and I kid you not it was the best I have ever had! Salad and soup was great, but the dessert was even better. Two thumbs up on the blueberry cobbler and peach pie!! Our waitress was really on top of everything and was really nice. Definitely coming back.
This place is good. Nothing impressive food wise, but it has a nice ambiance , the historic building is very cool, food is good enough and prices are okay. I had the Ruben sandwich which was good (not amazing but good). My husband had the fish and chips - do not order that- stick with land animals meat around here!
Edit: do not order the German chocolate cake. It was the worst cake I've ever tasted. Rubbery beige dough, very heavy and extreme sweet.
Overall a pleasant experience.
Ordered a few whiskeys sat at the bar then ordered a French dip sandwich great tasting roast beef but the sandwich has no onions or peppers taste is perfect tho. The drinks are great. Good shelf choice. Awesome staff. The price is bout perfect. Oh the horse radish is the real deal..!!!!
Portobello veggies sandwich and service was great.
Only suggestion is add a healthy side like steamed broccoli vs deep fried fries etc. Those of us ordering meat free dishes are health conscious.
Absolutely amazing! Lived in Cheyenne for 23 year's. This is hands down the best place to eat in town. I'm extremely picky when it comes to steak and they nailed it!
Our waitress Kendra was delightful and made us feel welcome as could be!
Fast friendly service! The prime rib and baked potato was perfect, sorry no pictures was to hungry to take time for photos.
I've only been here once.
The prime rib was absolutely delicious. Washed it down with some Crown and then had some cheesecake.
It ain't cheap. But you gotta spoil yourself once in a while. If I lived near Cheyenne, I'd spoil myself a lot on that prime rib. I definitely recommend this place.
Delicious Prime Rib sandwich. Get the horseradish great combo. Friendly service and it was fast at least when I went. I going back and trying everything else
Staff was great food was good too
Friendly staff & delicious food!! Always a go to.
Absolutely a must go, if you are in the area! And, if you're not in the area, it's worth the trip. Great people, great service, great atmosphere and amazing food! Easily the best in town. Congratulations to everyone that makes The Albany so good.
Great home style cooking with quite the savory selection. I'm glad I went with the waitress's recommendation of the chicken fried steak, it was crispy on the outside while perfectly tender on the inside. I nearly ate more than I could handle, but that's ok, it tasted soooo good.
Good food meager portions high prices. surprised bread or rolls not included. Good example of living on reputation rather than current status. I doubt I will eat here again.
I was a "regular" at the Albany from 1979-1981. I had to laugh at their website saying people stay 45 mins to an hour and a half. Lol more like 4-7 hrs Friday and Saturday nite. Great staff and burgers. Juke box beside the bar, 1 white room by cream, 2 dark star by csn&y, ramble on by zeppelin. Great memories.
The food was so so. I expected better. I had the grilled chicken salad and the chicken was very dry. I couldn't finish my salad. The salad was huge, but if if it doesn't taste good, than...my husband had a burger and he was happy.
Four of us traveling on vacation and ended up walking into the Albany 15 minute before their closing after lunch. Fully expected to have bad food and service, but was absolutely astounded by both. All four of us had different selections and could not be happier with both the food and service. Suggested to the owner that he should include a warning label with the Cobb salad because of its size. Cannot say enough good things about the food and service. Bread pudding was beyond wonderful
I had the Tuesday Special tonight (May 7) - Liver and Onions.
Wow, the liver was so good and so tender. It cut like soft butter.
And, great soup, beef noodle. Awesome
Great food tonight and great service. Thank you Albany-excellent.
Delicious food in a great atmosphere. The Albany has been here a long time, and it seems to be a great place to taste some of Cheyenne. There's a liquor store ingrained next to it if you're into that. Prices for the restaurant were reasonable and I would not mind stopping here again.
The service was good the soup and fries where good but the salmon was over cooked and dry and was more white than pink
Yummy. So far V best prime rib! The Waitresses are light-hearted and the prime rib is rare and tender melted in my mouth wow when I get a chance I will still travel up to Cheyenne just to have that prime rib. The owner super friendly. That's the code of Cheyenne that's why Cheyenne is a success
The Albany restaurant has always been one of the better, non-chain restaurants in Cheyenne. It has been around for many decades, so that should be a good indication it's high quality food and great atmosphere. I would like to give it another half star, but this system wouldn't let me do that. The majority of the dining area is polished wood booths, with a few tables in the back for groups larger than 4. It fits right in with the downtown area, having vintage pictures up so you can see a glimpse of what Cheyenne used to be like. All-in-all, a very good place to eat!
I was very surprised to learn they have vegetarian options. I got the BBQ tofu burger which was pretty good but would have been better if the tofu had been served in the sauce instead of just serving half a brick of tofu. I am however pleased that one of our local restaurants has these options and plan to try their other veggie options soon!
Decent restaurant, the food is good even when asked to change or alter, the appetizers could get some help, but the main entree was really good, the veggies are fresh and the service is quick up to par, and ur drinks are always filled with a good surrounding
Excellent restaurant with a menu that doesn't just reflect the same old American fare. This restaurant has a good quiet atmosphere with no rushed feeling. I appreciated the wait staff and their attention to detail.
Quite possibly the best prime rib I've ever had. It was super tender and flavourful. I can see why this place is so popular. If you are passing through town I highly recommend it.
The atmosphere is awesome, in an old historic building, has pool tables, very clean. The food is pretty good, I got the chicken fried steak which was a little chewy but I guess they're supposed to be that way. I got the soup option which today was wild mushroom and I could have drank a quart of it it was so good. My only two complaints are: 1.)the mashed potatoes tasted like the instant kind and 2.) the bartender obviously hated her job not only by her mannerisms but she also said so to a waitress. Overall a good experience, would definitely go back. Somewhat unrelated, they have a liquor store on the side of the building and the guy running it was one of the friendliest dudes I've ever met.
Loved the open faced prime rib sandwich. The Monterrey Burger is very good too. Lots of country charm.
Good food good service large group and got us seated fairly quickly.
Albany is always a great choice. Food is always good, and the staff is great
Good most the time but today, burger was well done I ask for med rare, and to charge 50cents for a side of bbq sauce on a $ 75 bill a bit cheap, and the music a bit loud mixed rock and roll other music would be nice in an old place like that, probably not going back
Great service, very clean and sanitized (during COVID-19). Good food, even for my picky husband and kids. My 8 y/o loved the homemade Balsamic Vinegarette dressing on side salad. Recommend Reuben & Club Sandwich.
Amazing atmosphere and very family friendly. Food is good, but not great. However, the location, ambiance, and service make it our favorite place, especially when we just want a stress-free lunch on a Saturday afternoon.
Had lunch with the family. Had patty melt, hamburger and prime rib sandwich. All were delish! We were seated on salon side. Cool atmosphere.
They have the best deep fried zucchini! Their burgers and fries are great as well. The place has a lovely atmosphere and a terrific wait staff.
I love to stop at this place for a little bit of downtime have a beer a bite to eat and play some pool. It's a very nice clean atmosphere in an old historic building which makes for a great atmosphere all around. The staff are so very friendly and welcoming and on top of their job! I'd recommend this place to anyone who wants to just stop and have a beer or a quick bite to eat however from 3 to 5 p.m. They are closed kitchen.
I love everything about this place.
I've going here for many years.
Warm and welcoming atmosphere, fantastic staff. Food could use a little more umf. This is a perfect place to let your hair down and just be =)
Absolutely delicious prime rib sandwich, and on a Monday, at that. Great service, with a reasonable draft beer list. Excellent value for dollar all the way around.
If in Cheyenne, WY stop in. It's right by an iconic late 19th Century railroad station.
You won't be disappointed.
Good food, drinks, I love the Prime Rib. A little pricey...but being from Vegas I expect to pay $100 for a dinner for 2 at a 5 star, top of the line restaurant. I'm learning to adjust my standards.
Another great prime rib dinner. The horse radish is nice and hot. Good New Belgium beers on tap, I like 1554, and plenty of wine. Normal full bar, they do make a good Mule. Can't beat the atmosphere of this place. Classic vintage and all the other words like that.
This is the best tasting and most tender Prime beef I've ever had.
Me and my girlfriend had a wonderful time last night great food great service thank all of u front of the house and back of the house staff for making r night special
Hands down the place to eat in Cheyenne Wyoming. Everything is made fresh daily, and it shows. The prime rib sandwich or open faced turkey sandwich for lunch.. then stop back by for drinks and some awesome bread pudding.
I've had fine dining across the country that has know comparisons to this place. Best prime rib and the bull nuts delicious. Staff was excellent
Burger delicious, cooked perfectly. Beef mushroom soup i could eat every day! Our waitress was newer to place but she was very attentive!
Even after being gone for 20 years, it still felt like home.
Well prepared tasty foods for reasonable prices. Excellent wait staff. Pleasant experience!
Their blackened prime rib salad is my favorite. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I wish they used a delivery service. I would definitely take advantage!
"Locals" restaurant established 75 years ago that serves straightforward, delicious food at reasonable prices. Tender and savory 12 ounce prime rib with au jus, veggies and a cup of soup for $21.99. Decent selection of beer and wine. Good desserts too. Good service. Worth a visit.
Yum yum good food and good drinks!
Always loved it here!!! My boyfriend and i used to go every friday for date night and sadly we stopped due to being so busy. The staff is amazing and food is great! Cant wait to go back
This is one of my favorite places in town to eat at. The food is always good from the appetizers to the desserts and everything in between. Gus the owner is a character that after you have eaten there a few times he will come to your table and make conversation with you. It's just a fun place and historical on top of that.
Stopped in to visit with friends while passing through.
Good food, great drinks, wonderful staff!
A little busy but the food was wonderful and the prices aren't the worst. Good service. I love the styling of the building. They kept it very original and clean. Parking isn't the easiest to find but it's worth the walk to be amongst the historical buildings.
So we had a group of 13 from DGRS train club based out if Golden, Colo - Hannah was our server and she was amazing. We had great food and care.
Thank you and keep up the great job!
Great place. I'm a huge fan of their Prime Rib Sandwich.
It comes with horseradish and Dijou (?) dipping sauce, and is damned tasty. They've got a pool table and well-to-do clientele that's always friendly.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Food excellent and very reasonably priced.
Very nice staff, wonderful historic atmosphere, really good food. Located next to the historic train depot, this restaurant served large portions of very tasty food. We all enjoyed our food, drinks and dessert. Depot park is across the street and nightlife is only walking distance.
This was our first time here. The service was great, friendly and attentive. I had the chicken fried steak, it was so tender I could easily cut it with a fork! I look forward to coming back and trying a burger!
This is one of the places you love to go to. Great food wonderful place! Great prices. You have to go! We try to go every chance we get. Parking can be a small problem but worth it. The best prime rib sandwich I have in years.GO!
Great food, neat atmosphere, kind staff ... this historic restaurant is in the heart of the historic downtown district. Adjacent to venues with live music, bars, shopping, and lodging.
We decided on The Albany as a snow storm descended upon downtown Cheyenne and were not disappointed. We were immediately seated, drinks were delivered quickly, the wait staff courteous and accommodating. My friends decided on vegetable soup, a Monterey cheeseburger, sweet potato fries and I opted for potato skins and a Cobb salad. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals, my salad was exactly as I ordered, bacon was crispy and the Bleu cheese dressing went well with it. The potato skins were probably my favorite item. Although the food was Michelin star level, it was absolutely decent, fresh, fairly priced and had a cool, subdued atmosphere. 5/5 would eat here again
I'll definitely be back. I had an AMAZING corned beef and cabbage special for St Patrick's Day. Thanks for a great time.
Prices more than fair, amazing raspberry cheesecake and house beer. Excellent service
Food is good and good sized portions. Staff is friendly and attentive.
Was a little disappointed that full menu isn't available all day.
Otherwise great experience!
Food at Albany is always good. Love the vegetarian options that were recently added to the menu. Staff is friendly and do their best to make you happy and comfortable. Best bread pudding ever.
High backed booths for privacy
Quick friendly service
Relaxed atmosphere
Home cooking type of food.
Good steak sandwiches and French dip. Like thier hot beef and hot turkey sandwiches.
This place never disappoints. Great service, great food! The home made Bleu Cheese dressing is absolutely delicious. Definitely a wonderful place with a nice atmosphere worth the trip.
Well remodeled older building, good food at great prices, excellent beer selection (including local WY brewers), and comfortable atmosphere. They also have a couple pool tables and jukebox for your favorite playlist. Could be a real draw to the downtown area...
We are locals here in Cheyenne, and go to the Albany regularly. Their prime rib sandwich is a favorite of ours! Can't go wrong here - good food at fair prices. It's a cool old place to take a rest and grab a bite if you're taking a walking tour through Old Town Cheyenne. There's lots of historic old pictures on the walls, too.
Interesting place. Not crowded looks like a business man's lunch place. Good food quiet and good service.
Love the smothered burrito and homemade salsa that comes with it. The wait staff is always very pleasant. The only complaint I have is that they are only open during peak lunch and dinner hours so if you're looking for a meal in between those hours, they're closed.
Came in for dinner after coming up to WY from Fort Collins to see family. We were so happy we came into the Albany! The burger was amazing, the hot turkey (and the GRAVY) was fantastic and the ruben was authentic and tasty! We got the last piece of key lime pie too! Will for sure come back the next time we are up in Cheyenne!
Exellent. Great service. Food that will make you dream of it. I know it sounds odd. But the mushroom gravy soup brought a tear to this sotherners eye. The prime rib was so tender I didn't even need a fork to cut it. Hey, it was so melt in your mouth teeth are an option. Tip your wait staff, and enjoy. I'll see you there.
The prime rib was great! Perfectly tender and juicy... Nice atmosphere, and I'll be going back. The draft beer selection lacks something to be desired, but not terrible.
Yay! The new ownership is going to be just fine!! I had the best rueben sandwich I've had in a long time.
Great dining. I have been at various times of the day. Always good food, great service.
Great food and reasonable prices. Service was friendly and quick. Beer is very cold. Great place for dinner in Cheyenne.
Love the atmosphere and the prime rib sandwich. The food was hot when it came out. Also there was exceptional service presented by my waitress.
Loved it. Great atmosphere with even better food and service. I had the turkey sandwich and it was delicious. We will definitely put this place on our list when we come back to Cheyenne.
I have been coming here since 1982. This restaurant is very popular with the locals. There was a huge line outside the door last St. Patty's Day. The corned beef and fixins are the best in town. If this restaurant is so bad, according to some, why has it been so popular since the 1940's? This is a family run restaurant and George and Gus expect only the best service and quality of food from their employees PO'd Deb
Probably the best prime rib I've ever had. Chicken fried steak was amazing too!! Definitely recommend it!!
The food was decent. Not out of the ordinary though. Considering the location, it's not surprising that the food didn't have much flavor.
Good food. The service was good as well.
The country fried steak with mashed potatoes hit the spot for me. A dish that is one of my personal go-tos for comfort food. Also a good location close to the community outdoor area where they have live entertainment on Friday nights.
Great place for dinner. Chicken Fried steak was good. First time eating there. Have to go back soon to try the steaks.
Me and my mom and dad had lunch together today they really enjoyed it.I did to i hand prime rib sandwich a d onion rings.and they made them the way I like the extra crispy and not burnt they were really good was real happy
Great atmosphere and amazing meals that make you feel like you're right at home. Recommended by the locals so can't go wrong with that! Reuben and hot turkey sandwiches were delicious!
I had a lovely lunch at the Albany! The food is delicious, the staff friendly and professional, and the customers happily satisfied!
I will be back!

Casper, WY
Food was great and services great. Very interesting place and would definitely recommend eating if you're in the area.
Great bloody beers made by Tracy! The Albany offers friendly service and great food in the restaurant or at the Bar! Plus package liquor for all your take home needs. They also have two pool tables and live music on Friday nights that I'm aware of.
The Albany has been around ever since I can remember. they've always had good food and good service. And I can always appreciate a clean place to eat. A good variety of meals on their menu. Clean restrooms that are always stocked with tp and paper towels. The Albany restaurant has the Albany Lounge on one side and the Albany package liquor store on the other side. I would definitely recommend the Albany for a good meal.
Wait staff is always so accommodating.
Chili was good but was hoping for a more western feel and the music playing was definitely not country.
Dined here at the end of summer camp, fish and chips I ordered were a little too greasy for my liking, but delicious nonetheless fries and coleslaw served with the actual fish fillet were good, staff was nice and upon inspecting the men's bathroom with my eyes it was clean.
The bartenders here seem to be capable of handling any size crowds! We were here and orders drinks, appetizers and more drinks and nothing showed up to the table that wa asnt hot or cold! Love, love the bar staff!
The Albany is a good locals place. I have eaten hereany times and the food has always been good. But it's the staff that keepse coming back. They have always been helpful and accommodating. The French dip.sandwitch has always been good here as are the diner meal classics.
This is one of the only non-chain restaurants in town, and they have done a very good job keeping in business. The food is pretty good and everything has a "grandma made this" sort of vibe. My favorite part is that it has more of cheyenne's culture than any other place in town.
This is a very cool place in Cheyenne Wyoming. Food was very good it is down town by the rain depot. It is very popular so expect a little wait to get in.
I loved this place it was very western in decor and for Wyoming that is pretty typical. The food was a good quality freshness and the overall dining experience was fantastic. Highly reccomended
Always a great meal and friendly service. June was our server and she was excellent. Best Chicken Fried Steak in Cheyenne.
Historic restaurant downtown Cheyenne, WY near the train depot. Food and service was excellent. Our choices, party melt, Monterrey Burger, and chili rellanos fit the casual groove.
Visited while passing through and was extremely satisfied by the customer service and the food. Best thing was that my glass didn't go dry during the whole meal and the server got it right every time without asking. If I'm in town again I'll visit again.
Had the Prime Rib, side salad, and baked potato. The Prime Rib was tender and cooked medium the way I like it. The dinner was very good.
Sadly was disappointed... Beer was good .. Food from grill had that "needs a cleaning flavor".... Rocky mountain oysters were ultra greasy.... Prime Rib was good but not the bread... Cocktail sauce real deal ...
Delicious food, and drink. Great staff . The place is clean and well staffed. 4 stars because it was my first visit.
The food was excellent and the staff friendly. Brian, the owner, greeted us at the door.
A hallmark of downtown Cheyenne with comfort food favorites sprinkled with Greek fare. Prime rib is great even if under-seasoned. Salads and desserts always tasty!
The Albany is nice place to have a conversation without a lot of background noise. It has a couple pool tables that provide a distraction while you talk. The staff were courteous and prompt. Stop by if you're in town to relax and unwind.
Atmosphere was ok, drinks were good, food was not anything we'd ever go back for. Service was good overall. It was our first time and probably our last unfortunately.
A pivotal place in Wyoming History Railroad, Cowboys and great food. I had a green chili cheese burger without the bun. Perfect for my low carb regime.
I love The Albany. The only draw back is when it is very busy it is very noisy and sometimes hard to hear in the rear section where the larger groups are usually seated. Next time our group is going to try setting in the bar area.
First time I went there to eat instead of get drunk. The food was good but alittle pricey. Employs were nice
This historic restaurant was filled with locals when we arrived for a late lunch. Food was excellent and priced reasonably. Had budget left for creme brulee, then walked over to the depot museum.
Friendly people. Great atmosphere. The sweet potato fries are awesome. The chicken-fried steak is only served at dinner.......boo.
The Albany has been around forever and they make a fact of that in their menu. The food is made up primarily of sandwiches and steak related foods.
While the food at the Albany isn't bad, there isn't anything that sets it apart from rest of the pack. There is a prime rib sandwich that is nice, they have some good fish and chips, but when my friends are asking what food I want, the Albany *never* hits my brain as a place I have to go to.
Great atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff, the steak was absolutely delicious, so tender and cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend.
Great place to eat!
Ditch the chain steak house and enjoy the way it use to be, right here downtown Cheyenne!!
Great place! Nice old building, friendly staff and good food! You don't need some fancy write up - this place is a solid choice!
Friendly staff, great food, feels like a step back in time - in a positive way.
Great food and drinks in a old retro setting by the historic train station...
Traditional diner feel and fare. Good food, friendly service. If you’re looking for something reliably good, The Albany is a great choice.
Our waitress was great and attentive. The food was average and the atmosphere was nice. Very reasonably priced.
Excellent meal! Server was very helpful and informative! Would highly recommend eating here if you are in the area!
The atmosphere was better than the food. The wait staff was better than the atmosphere. Creme brulee was good. Okay but wouldn't go back.
Very generous portion of prime rib on the "sandwich". The food was tasty and the server was very friendly. I will be going back.
Nice historic atmosphere with good food at very reasonable prices. My wife had the prime rib which was excellent
There food was good and the staff was friendly and helpful.
Fantastic steak. Better then anywear in Denver. Service is friendly, atmosphere is warm. We will be back.
The food was good, but it's cramped. Tables are small and close together. The interior could use some updating, doesn't really have a unique identity.
I have always liked this place!! The food is great and the staff are friendly. It is my go to place for steak or Prime Rib.
Great customer service for restaurant!!! Waitresses are on point with continuous monitoring of drinks, appetizers and just to check on u! Yummy food!!! Had the sirloin salad.....mmmmmm!
Love this hometown restaurant ~
Love our dinner here.
Tracy is a great gal. Food was fantastic. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Environment is great. Highly recommend
Great service good food and great prices very pleased with it all.
Great food and service.
Always good food, home made. Mashed are real, fried chicken is wonderful. Specialize I Greek dressing and it's wonderful!!
It was worth the stops (twice the same day) between the Alcova reservoir and Glenrock where we were staying. Cheerful and adequate menu. Good microbrew choices.
Tired from travel. Steak was great &cooked perfectly
Not a chain.
This is a local favorite with many people. Very much worth giving a try. If you do, then consider ordering the prime rib.
My waitress this evening was out of this world! Shopping local is a must! Great food, atmosphere, and srrvice!
Good American food. Reasonable prices, good service.
Had pork chops. What really surprised me was the brown gravy on mashed potato. It was so unique and tasty that I could have a whole meal of potato with the brown gravy!
Burger was good, but a little over done. Burnt on one side. Took a little bit to get it and had a kid with us so didn't want to wait for another.
Interesting old restaurant with a nice menu and good service
Great food!!!!! Reasonable price for everything, during Frontier days, get there early.
Beautiful place in downtown Cheyenne. Probably the BEST liver &onions that ive had in the last 20+ years!!Great service and great prices. If you're in Cheyenne, ya dont want to miss this place!!
Great steak, friendly staff. Draught beer selection is lacking. Good happy hour deals. Overall positive experience. Definitely would recommend.
Food was great. One of the beat prime ribs I've had in awhile. Nothing flashy, just good eats. The horseradish ROCKED!
Easily one of the best local restaurants in the city! Excellent food at reasonable prices. Locals love to bring guests to this restaurant.
Their prime rib sandwich and French dip are outstanding!
Service was wonderful and food was equally fantastic. I always leave a little room for the creme brulee!
This restaurant has the best staff! Super polite and knowledgable about the area. Great food too.
Americana. Looking for comfort food in a homey atmosphere? Look no further. I had the classic open face turkey sandwich, which is served with mashed potatoes and gravy, and it was everything I wanted it to be.
Great place for prime rib! Good experience with courteous staff and fun atmosphere.
Food is good, upper mid price range. Really cool building and awesome old pictures on the walls to look at. Parking is minimal.
Good atmosphere. Great food. Attentive staff. Right in historic downtown.
Nice little local restaurant. Great food and service
Great service and the steaks were cooked to perfection.
The best prime rib in town my kids like the burgers and we all live the beer battered mushrooms appetizer
Been coming here for years. First place I ever tried rocky mtn oysters. Don't knockem till you tried them.
Food was bland. Service was good. Nice bar.
Food is delicious. Joe was a great waiter. Recommended it highly.
Great food... Wish they didn't shut down the restaurant during mid day... But great food and friendly staff.
Great service, great food, great atmosphere. We had a lovely time.
Delicious local restaurant.
Best kept restaurant secret in Cheyenne. I highly recommend it. Steak is always cooked perfectly and the service is prompt and friendly.
Good food. Not so great having to pay 7 dollars for a take out charge.
Delicious food, friendly good working employees, nice building. WAY COOL!
Best steak I had in Wyoming
Very good prime rib but the place is a bit on the expensive side. I have only gone there three or four times in the 29 years that I've lived in this city.
This restaurant has the best prime rib I've ever had. Service is excellent.
Great food & service. Thanks for the great experience.
The food was good. The baked potato had a number of black spots in it, they wrap them in foil and then pierce the potato which causes the black spots.
Tracy was awesome 👌 truly great people. Thanks for the hospitality when we were stuck and take good care of Bob! Thanks again …
Dinner was good. Dessert was GREAT. I had the apple cobbler. Absolutely superb.
Good food, great ambiance, decent prices, awesome beer .
Nice historical building. Busy place. Service was good. Food was ok. Kinda on the $$ side.
Good prime rib sandwich. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in Cheyenne
Glad we found this place wish we found it sooner. Great menu and not bad prices. Worth the wait when there is one.
Restaurant is not fancy, but food is great! We both had the prime rib, which was cooked perfectly.
Only place in Cheyenne that serves chefs salad. Can't get the liver and onions when CFD is in town. Big bummer!!!
Food is outstanding and the service was unbelievable
Great place to eat and visit
Love this place. Good food and friendly service!
Great place to eat.

Very delicious prime rib. Great service with a relaxed atmosphere!
If you are needing a good steak- the prime rib here never fails!
Wonderful food and service
I haven't been there in years and the food and service remain top notch.
Good food, great wait staff, reasonable prices!
Very nice here. From CO, I want to move to WY. This place was what I like. Waitress very nice.
The steak and prime rib were excellent. Service was above and beyond! PPE practice was in place!
Usually there for lunch. Fantastic Greek salad and great burgers! If you go in the evening on weekends, try the prime rib.
Delicious Reubens and very tasty local beer...Melvin Hubert Pale Ale. Will purchase some take-away beers next door!
The Albany is one of my favorite restaurants. I have been coming here since I was little, I highly recommend the prime rib sandwich!!
Wonderful prime rib. Clean older restaurant decor. Great food period.
Really good food with a very cozy atmosphere. They serve local beer which is awesome.
Good food and gluten free bread available. At old train station area. Very nice co.fort food. Casual
Another favorite place to dine in,just the atmostphere is relaxing!🤗 …
Wonderful place to have lunch, recommend to everyone. Pleasant atmosphere and great food.
Great homemade food- the burgers were perfect and the potato soup was to die for...plus the beer was cheap.

Great service. Good food. Comfortable venue.
Excellent service! Great food!
Best Chicken Fried Steak in town and beyond!!! Tonight's seasonal pie was phenomenal! So peachy 🍑 …

This place always has the homestyle foods that everyone will love. Very delicious and right in the heart of Downtown Cheyenne.
Great steaks. Good atmosphere. Worth the stop.
Food and service were fantastic as always!
I love it here, like I really do. There's even a awsoawe bar area with pool tables if that's your thing. The bar is sepesepa from the dinning area also
I liked the special for lunch I had. Cubed steak burrito. Great service too
Great restaurant. Quiet and the chicken fried steak is to die for.
Super good place, great Bloody Marys, good food, good atmosphere and a good beer selection! Highly recommended.
Had a good lunch today. Fair price good food Saw lots of friend was fun.
Grill style down home cooking. Good eats at a great price. Friendly downtown atmosphere.
I had a turkey club, and it was delicious. I would no recommend sitting in the booths, they are rather uncomfortable and claustrophobic.
The food and service was really good.
This is our second time here and always was the same THE BEST FOOD AND THE BEST ATTENTION.
Great food and wonderful atmosphere.. Love all the history of this place and the staff is wonderful.
Love this food. Local restaurant with great prime rib, home cooking. Must stop when in Cheyenne.

Good service and the kids liked the food
Great food! Had the barbeque tofu. Friends had the patty melt.
Great food great service great people! THANK YOU!
Bar atmosphere is not too bad. Food is over priced and very bland. Good place to drink with friends bad place to come for dinner.
The food was amazing and was very peaceful. Enjoyed my lunch with my son.
Wonderful food, service, and best of all no mask required.
Great costumer service. Love the beef and Broccoli soup🤩 …
Saw the governor of Wyoming here a couple of years ago, it was great food
Nice restaurant. I had the open faced roast beef sandwich. Yummo
They have good food, good drinks and a good atmosphere. For being downtown their parking is great.
