Reviews of Leonoro's Spaghetti House
Douglas Thorn
What a great local find. We really enjoyed our meals.
Lisa Boyce
Today Tony and I had a very nice late lunch early dinner at Leonoro's in Charleston WV on the East End of town since 1915. It was Tony's first time here and my third.
Tony ordered a Budweiser and I ordered Half-Half Iced Tea with Lemon. We both ordered the Spaghetti with 2 Meatballs Lunch Special with a Salad and Bread//Butter.
Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We were both overly stuffed!! The lunch portion was more than enough food!! Definitely going back!! The sauce was KILLER!!! MEATBALLS awesome and Bread divine!!! Loved everything and every bite!!!
Jeff Klucinec
Our carryout food was quickly prepared and the meal portions were generous, with cheese and enough Italian bread for us all. The Medium was enough for each person in our family. The sauce was well-seasoned and the meatballs had a nice spice. We're out of town and I'm glad we chose Leonoro's.
Ginger Hughes
The salad was amazing! The spaghetti could use a little more sauce but was very good! The portions were very large! Will go again!
Chelsea G. S. Evans
My favorite place to get Italian in town! Wonderful food, and amazing service! Highly recommend!
Cogdill Family
My wife and I were looking for some good, authentic Italian food while staying overnight in Charleston and decided to visit Leonoro's. I'm glad we did. The service was great and the presentation and taste of the food was excellent. The sauce on the Lasagna and Manicotti was very flavorful and the meatballs were perfect. We will definitely be back again!
Betsy Legg
Leonoro’s is the BEST! It was only 10 years that I discovered it in Charleston, WV. The food is anything but ordinary! The service is excellent every single time I believe his name is Kevin and he treats us like family. The lasagna is great, as well as their meatballs and sauce. Please make sure to stop by if you’re in town keep this little place open!
Lauren McCoy
Our favorite family Italian restaurant. While working in food sales I was even able to be in their kitchen in the morning, watching them hand roll and cook each meatball for the day. It was incredible to watch and their cleanliness was superior to any other restaurant in the area. Top notch family. Top notch food. Top notch atmosphere. I haven't eaten anything there that was less than magnificent. I must make the drive again soon.
Jerry Elliott
Wonderful meals as usual. We had lasagna and spaghetti, both with meat balls. The regular salad with house dressing, red wine, garlic bread and white bread were a good compliment to the meal. It is nice to sit down to a wonderful meal and enjoy conversation with no loud music or TV.
Rick Petrella
When you need a perfect Italian fix and don't have time to make it yourself. Nobody in this region does it better. I have been going here for 50 years and have never had a bad meal. Consistent and perfect. Love this place.

Family Italian. Has been in the area over 100 years.
Reminds you of Nonna's home cooking. Unassuming atmosphere, just great family style Italian. All the classics, dine in or take out.
Valerie Woody
The waitstaff were incredibly kind and checked in with us frequently, in an unobtrusive but attentive manner. The food was just as good as I remember and remarkably consistent with my fond memories of years past. A Charleston institution with a simple and very well realized menu. Come join the regulars and visitors from all over for classic pasta with incredible meatballs and sauce.
Jason Scott
This has been a family favorite for over half a century. I usually go once or twice a month. The spaghetti, manicotti and lasagna are tremendous. The garlic toast is on another level of awesomeness. And on top of that, the family that owns and operates the restaurant are genuinely some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. It’s not pretentious like a lot of Italian restaurants. It’s very warm and quaint. The food is great, the service is great, EVERYTHING’S great. It’s one of Charleston’s most rustic restaurants, and best kept secrets. Support local restaurants. Go getcha some Leonoro’s!
Dawn Bolyard
We had the child's spaghetti and small Rigatoni, both w/ meatballs. A wonderful meal! My daughter is picky and she ate over 1/2 of her meal. The meatballs are wonderful and cut up into the dish is a great enhancement bringing all the flavors together.
The bread is fresh and I enjoyed my garlic bread too. Yes, we had dessert and the tiramisu is lovely. Fresh coffee was very satisfying. Prices are good and we are taking home a little as well. Service was great. We will be back!
Krystyn Files
Ate here on our drive home to Ohio and the food was amazing: definitely get the tiramisu. I had enough leftovers to take for lunch the next day. The menu is simple, but it's definitely not a bad thing. Service was amazing too. If you're in Charleston, skip Olive Garden and go here instead.
Archie Hubbard
Great small family restaurant. Meatballs are delicious and "in-house" house salad dressing is phenomenal. Staff are very friendly and attentive to your needs.
Don't be afraid to use a bib because if you eat it to enjoy it, you will likely splash some sauce here and there.
Brittany Maxwell
I've never had a bad experience at Leonoro's. Ever since I was introduced to the Spaghetti House I have been a fan! Their service is excellent and attentive, the food is amazing, and the atmosphere is wonderful. This is the definition of a home style restaurant.
T.J. Baldwin
Small family owned Italian that's been open for nearly 100 years. The food is always quite good. The atmosphere homey. The neighborhood has been revitalized and is quite safe and eclectic. And for all the cry babies that are on here saying the sauce is bland, don't waste your money going to Italy because I think you'll find quite the same. This place is a low key family institution and Charleston is lucky to have it.
Julie Morris
This is a nice place for a quick bite of Italian food. The pasta and sauces are good. We did not like the italian dressing served with the salad, too oily with no flavor. Try the house dressing instead. The cheese stuffed manicotti was good. Wine is available. This is not an upscale dining experience, but the server was very helpful and food came quickly.
Isaac Liu
Great Italian. Somewhat better location compared to fazios and others in the Charleston area. Classic spaghetti and meatballs is good, as well as the linguini with clam sauce. Casual atmosphere and the interior decor could be improved as the wood benches are not very comfortable. Service is fast and the wait staff have cool t-shirts.
Matt Jenkins
A staple of the community for over a 100 years. The way your momma would make pasta and gravy.
Annabelle Walsh
Delicious Gluten Free Options! Having to go Gluten Free for medical reasons we assumed we’d never enjoy Italian restaurants again but Leonoro’s is an exception! The waiter was careful to note our dietary restrictions and recommended the GF penne with marinara sauce and sausage. We also had the GF penne with veal~ delicious! The marinara sauce was outstanding and the GF pasta was firm (unlike most GF pasta which comes out soggy.) Our veal was cooked to perfection and the sausage was perfectly spiced. Don’t forget the antipasta appetizer, we loved ours! It was all divine!
JT Wriston
Great, old Italian food. It was one of my dad's favorites, we would go to when he was in town. Makes me think of him, he always asked for the heels of the bread.
Fred Rainsford
I absolutely love this place. It's a quaint little place, with a simple menu. The brothers who run it are genuinely some of the nicest people I've ever met. They speak to almost every person who walks through the door. Their garlic toast is unbelievably good, and so is everything else. If you want a good plate of spaghetti, lasagna, or manicotti, this is your place! Oh yeah, and try the canoli. It's out of this world.
Joel Conner
This is the best Italian restaurant in Charleston. The house dressing is to die for. The service is exceptional and food is the best. I have tried several different things on the menu and it was all great. When in Charleston, definitely eat here!
Anthony Marchese
Excellent food- beauty is in it's simplicity. Cost for a medium rigatoni with meatballs, one italian sausage link, small house salad, sweet tea: $27 before tip.
Other Other
There's a reason this place has been here for 100 years! The menu is small but everything was wonderful. We split a lasagna and stuffed shells. The sauce was light and pleasing and house made. The service was wonderful as well.
Greg Harkins
Fast service great food whether you're eating in or getting it to go you can't go wrong here
Christian White
The staff/ownership were all friendly and nice. Quick, attentive service. I just felt I was not quite getting the amount of food for price, and the food was good but not phenomenal. Definitely a solid, good place overall, though!
Danielle Whitfield
We were in town for the weekend and had to try this place bc it's been around over 100 years. The food was mediocre at best however the service was amazing. They are very knowledgable about their food and take a lot of pride in their place.
Dan Walker
Good, traditional Italian food. Cozy atmosphere and very laid back. Great portions and tasty desserts. Great location with parking lot adjacent. Easy in and out for a quality meal.
dorothy hebert
Amazing authentic food. The best Tiramisu I've ever had! We will definitely be back. Thank you Billy for the exceptional service!
Mike Callaghan
I have been eating at Leonoro's since 1975. My grandmother had me walk down and pick up food for us. I have been eating there ever since. I love it. Still eat there twice a month.
Raymond Williams
Great place to get a quick bite of good Italian food at a reasonable price. Been going here for years and still love the place! Meatballs are sometimes bland tho, add some spices or something to them!
Ronald Wesley Watkins
First time eating here. Nice little place with very friendly service. The food was good, but the portions seemed small for the price that was charged. A very enjoyable evening overall.
Johnny Entley
Been to different countries and at least 20 states, and Leonoro's has the best meatballs in the world. I will drive hours just to pick some up. Amazing!
Craig Burdette
Great food and service always!
Shawn Ford
This sauce was the real deal. Unless you can authentically prove that it came straight from a can then shut your mouth and eat the real Italian dealI And if it did come from a can tell me what brand so I can buy it by the gallon. Came from Cincinnati and happened to stumble on this place. Authentic in all aspects of the food. Meatballs were done right, sauce done right, and the basket of bread and butter with the salad made for a VERY filling lunch. To all the naysayers out there you have obviously never tasted the fresh authentic subtle flavors of real Italian cooking and have been over saturated by Americanized Italian with the heavy spices and and enormous portions. I would go back in a heart beat!
Russell
Fantastic food everytime, and if you like big portions ask about their mother sized dish
Tee Kay
100 plus years in Charleston. 5 generations of family. It is the best of the best. Great service. Best food. Where the Locals eat!
Reese Maynus

David Chaffins
Family owned restuarunt for 100q years. They musr be doing something right. Really excellent service. Don't expect a full Italian menu. They specialize and are particularly excellent at their menu of pasta and meatball varieites.
Mike Keller
Family-owned Italian restaurant for over 100 years. Very casual, food was good but not spectacular. Service at lunch was quick and friendly. Parking at side and back.
Christina Mayes
Went there yesterday for first time, excellent swrvice and spaghetti was great. You can tell the food is made with love!!
Victor Minasian
Great hole in the wall restruant, food was great and wasn't that busy even with a ball game going on. Staff were nice and courteous
Terry Stone
Excellent service and food. A great place to eat as you feel like family.
Kristi Baker Frank
Being that I live in Germany and spend a lot of time in the actual country of Italy eating REAL Italian food from REAL Italian chefs..... most of you wouldn't survive. lol This is the closest thing to real Italian food in the Charleston area. Period. I have been to Soho's and Fazio's and they are both very tasty but I am sorry to say, about as far from real Italian food as you can get. So for all the complainers out there, you're don't really like Italian food if you dont like food at Leonoro's. Just wanted to state that for the record.
Leslie
Great place to go for lunch. Service is great and fast. I've only tried the rigatoni and meatballs and they are on point. Try the house salad dressing. :-)
Valerie Johnson
Speghetti sauce is nothing more then tomato sauce out of a can. No flavor what so ever. Might as well take yourself to Fazoli's Southridge Center (Not Fazio's on West Side either, over priced also and taste like Chef Boyardee)!! WAY over priced too!! Antipasta salad is small and water with not much to it. You can go anywhere else and get a better salad for less then the $13.00 charged. Meatballs are okay, but even I can make better then that...wanted to try this place for years. We tried it and never again!
tamela adkins
Been eating here for 35 years. Awesome food, great service and the most friendly people. I've never been disappointed.
Christopher Angel
Have eaten here for years. The sauce is NOT from a can and always tastes great. As for small portions I've never had a small portion here always leave full. Joe is awsome!
Angela Surface
Had lunch here today, and It was delicious. We both had the spaghetti and meatballs and also had the Italian sausage as an appetizer...everything was fresh an awesome.
Don Hoff
