Food & service was absolutely amazing. We had the crab cakes, I do not like crab cakes but I liked these. I will be ordering them again. Luke was our server & he was super nice & funny & we didn’t have to wait on anything. 10/10 recommend. Speak easy & restaurant we’re beautiful & clean. Can’t wait to come back after having my baby & try the drinks!

We’re not big fancy food eaters so we stuck with the Waygu burgers with Pimento cheese fries as an appetizer. I ordered mine medium and it came out perfect; nice and juicy. My husband ordered his medium-well and it came out very well done, but he said it still tasted good. They also didn’t put any toppings on his, only cheese. He had ordered it with ketchup and Mayo. The sweet potato mash was akin to a sweet potato casserole and was delicious. My sweet potato fries had some type of coating on them, and they too were really good. The pimento fries were good, but not $9 good. The portion was equivalent to a side of fries at most restaurants. Ranch was Hidden Valley style. I’m a ranch lover and I would think they would have made theirs in house, but that was no biggy, we still really enjoyed the meal. Our waitress was wonderful. We did mention my husbands burger issues to our waitress after we got the check as we didn’t want any discount, just to give feedback. She said it was actually a pretty common mistake. For $16 they should be able to not mess up a burger, but as I stated it was still good and my husband said he would get it again. He’s one of those that will not send food back. He could order chicken and they could send a piece of fish and he would just deal with it. Food was all good, but outside of the ambiance, I don’t think they’re really anything super special.

Went here for dinner on a Wednesday night and sat at the bar. All in all, it was enjoyable with a few detractors: Server/bartender got my order wrong. There was cheese on my burger when I asked specifically for no cheese. Not a big deal. However when she asked what condiments I wanted, I presumed it would be on the side. The kitchen easily used two or three times a normal serving of mayo. Almost ruined the wagyu burger. They have a bunch of whiskeys and scotch. However on my second pull, the bartender couldn't find the requested whiskey, said she was going to ask someone, never did, and left me hanging. She apologized when I asked for the bill after waiting for 10 minutes, but the service topped off only borderline average dining experience. There are a bunch of typos on the menus, again not a big deal, just a bit unprofessional. The restaurant was moderately busy, so I forgive a lot of mistakes (especially since COVID). If I had another night in downtown Charleston, I would likely skip and see what else was out there, especially for the money I spent ($40 food, $20 alcohol). If you're here more than one night, I would probably check it out.

Highly recommend visiting this place! More than casual for attire. A huge selection of bourbon and whiskey with the option of beer flights, bourbon wines, bourbon and whiskey flights. Our waitress, Cindy, was wonderful, knowledgeable, and great at conversation. Price of entrees are $20+ so we got the wings, an appetizer, and fries, a side. The Kentucky bourbon ale is delicious.

Had great food, service, and atmosphere. Ordered angel hair crab cakes and pimento fries. I've seen some reviews say they're expensive but comming from the west coast where it would have been twice the price... was pretty good to me. Atmosphere is so warm and cozy and the wait staff was very kind. Will come again on my next visit.

Since there would be a 30-40 minute wait for our table, they directed us to the speakeasy downstairs which was private and comfortable with a full bar. A fantastic place to have a few drinks while waiting for our table. Our food (steak, potatoes, crab cakes and salmon) were top notch as well as the service. Plenty of parking available which is pretty rare downtown. Highly recommend this place.

Exceptional service. The crab cake appetizer was delicious. The crunchy angel hair on top added a level on crunchy deliciousness. French onion soup was really good. Asparagus with bacon was outstanding. The sauce and crispy bacon complimented the asparagus. The prime rib was the special. It was a thick portion and we cut it into thirds. The prime rib was at room temperature, and I would have preferred it warmer.

The service is absolutely perfect. The food is pretty good, but I personally feel after three visits that they overcook the fish, steaks, and crab cakes. The Tuna appetizer is on point! One of the best in town. Oh, and the salads are fantastic. Drinks are well done and they have some more creative options if you desire. The atmosphere is inviting.... I wish that they would expand their menu and watch their temperatures....but other than that, I will be back for sure!

The selection of bourbon is excellent. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable. Wife and I had crab cake appetizer which is outstanding. She’s from Maryland and knows her crab cakes. Had French onion soup, sirloin, and asparagus with the bacon and basaltic vinaigrette reduction. Everything was delicious.

We decided to try Hale house for dinner while visiting Charleston, and I'm sure glad we did! Our server Maddie was wonderful with recommendations and service. We had the crab cakes and they were probably some of the best I've ever had. We followed with the sirloin, and asparagus with bacon, Parmesan, and balsamic. All which was very good and cooked to the correct temp. We decided to try the lemon drop martini which was also on point. Very good experience in the dining room. The manager Eric was helping everywhere on the floor and made sure or experience was fantastic. After dinner we went downstairs to the speak easy. It was definitely too busy for one bartender which caused our drinks to be made quickly and not correctly. We ordered the same drinks downstairs but could tell a huge difference in taste. The dining room is definitely worth trying!

Great selection of delicious appetizers and sides. Entree selection is pretty weak. The ones I have tried have been good, but almost too plain when compared to the apps. Best bourbon selection around, although the prices are really steep for many of them.

Nice spot that I tried at the suggestion of a local resident. She raved about the burgers and the Wagyu burger didn't disappoint. Also tried the Carmel Crunch Layer Cake. It was heavenly.

Partner and I are traveling the states right now and out hotel clerk recommended here. Had an amazing food experience. Definitely get the Carmel crunch cake. It was so good. All the food was good and our waitress was awesome with getting us refills and checking in on us here and there. Definitely recommend!

Very, very impressive restaurant which has top quality dishes at a reasonable price. I visited this restaurant with my partner who is local and I am from the UK. The atmosphere was vibrant, yet not pretentious. The service was fantastic, and the waitress, Crystal, was attentive and made us feel very welcome. Me and my partner both enjoyed the food and have already recommended this restaurant to others!

Had a great experience at Hale House. The crab cake appetizer was to die for. I would go back just to have those again. The pork chops were cooked perfectly and had so much flavor. The sweet potatoes were almost a dessert in themselves as a side. The waygu burger was also cooked perfectly and was so delicious. I also had a lemon drop martini which was great!

Nice bartender and good service. All staff were masked up appropriately. We just had a few drinks at the bar but staff was nice and friendly. As a transplant Kentuckian I was impressed with their whiskey/bourbon selection (probably the best I've seen in WV)!

Had a great date night for our anniversary. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. Pretty good selection of beer. Will def be back. And I def recommend the crab cakes. The entire appetizer is delicious. Don't let the angel hair throw you off. It's delicious. Also had a steak. Cooked perfectly and plenty of leftovers. 8 got the sweet potatoes as my side and man they were delicious. We loved everything we tried.

Very attentive service from both our server and the manager. Quality cuisine prepared quickly and consistently in a comfortable and trendy atmosphere. I’m not a vegetarian and their impossible burger with sweet potato fries was delicious(random decision to try something new). Crab cake wrapped in pasta sounds weird but was also perfectly prepared. Didn’t drink but the bar was exceptionally well stocked and bar tender was clearly experienced and attentive.

By far about the coolest place in CRW at the moment and slammin busy. This location through three establishments is just a super cool location and this round of ownership is killing it. Speakeasy in the basement (a good testament to the other places in the are that have disgusting lower levels) is really cool, feels and looks great and smells just fine (not to be the case for most others just a block away that smell like an absolute sewer). This place is the real deal and a slam dunk,... really great space and well managed and very well staffed.

I substituted the French onion soup for the side on the pork chops. They came out with nothing else on the plate. Would have been nice if they’d at least thrown a few chips or a garnish to go with them. Good but nothing special.

Unfortunately I didn’t take any pics, I was too hungry 🤣 but anyway, this place is GOOD. Service was top notch. Atmosphere was very nice. We had to sit next to the door, which kinda ruined the experience because of how cold it is every time the door is opened in January. We asked for a different table but they were too busy. But that’s okay! The food was still incredible!!! My wife ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp, the filet with au gratin potatoes and peanut butter pie. I ordered the prime rib (only on weekends) and the carrot cake cheesecake. The food was out of this world. The steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The potatoes were soooo good and cheesey and the desserts…. No words. So good!!!!! And we didn’t hardly wait for anything! In and out in under an hour, and the place was packed!!! Highly recommend!!!

A perfect end to a very long day. I'd driven three hours to Columbus, OH for a day of meetings followed by a stop at Siraga International Grocery Store, then back to Charleston,WV. I'd been craving steak and just didn't want to go to the grocery store and then cook. It was already 8:00pm. Hale House to the rescue! Two Tanqueray martinis, up with olives, bacon wrapped shrimp glazed with bourbon, a center cut sirloin steak cooked to order and potatoes that were a hybrid between scalloped potatoes and potatoes au gratin were enjoyed at a leisurely pace. The restaurant was spotlessly clean. All of the employees were properly masked. We were at least 20 feet from the next customers at the very long bar. It was a really relaxing evening.

Didn't expect it but was pleasantly surprised. Good crowd. Nice vibe, little loud though. Good selection of spirits and beers. Ordered 3 sides and 1 entree, everything tasted spot on. I was impressed with the wagyu burger. It was lightly charred and almost perfect. The BBQ sauce with pineapple stood out for me. They even had pappy van wrinkle available there. If ever I visit again, definitely doing this place.

A Friend and I went and enjoyed the experience thoroughly. We got the angel hair wrapped crab cakes and bacon wrapped shrimp for our starters. They were both delicious but my favorite was the crab cakes....they were superb. For the main course I ordered the Waguburger. It was excellent, and the sweet potato fries I choose as my side were delicious as well. The hale house also offers a larger variety of bourbon. The option to try a flight of bourbon is nice if you are interested in trying various grades/editions of bourbon by the same producer. The service was fantastic and all food and beverages came to us in a timely manner. Based upon this visit, I would highly recommend a visit to the Hale House.

We had a reservation for 10 on a Friday evening at 7, the table wasn’t quite ready, until almost 7:30. We enjoyed the speak easy while we waited, first time downstairs. Definitely recommend you visit downstairs, sexy relaxing bar. The hostess and waitress were very apologetic for our wait and even gave the whole table a round of cocktails on the house. The food was delicious and you can’t beat the atmosphere and staff.

The restaurant was very busy—the hostess told us there was a concert in town. We were still seated immediately (there was one table for two available). The bourbon menu was impressive. Several bourbon flights were available, in various price ranges. The beer and wine menus were also pretty extensive. We both had the Hale House Wagyu Burger, cooked medium rare, with a side of fries topped with pimiento cheese and jalapeños. The burger was savory and juicy, cooked perfectly. The fries were awesome. Service was great, I enjoyed it and look forward to returning.

Went here last week. Huge selection of beer and liquor. I had french onion soup-delish and bruschetta-just okay. I'm picky with bruschetta though. Flavors were great. A friend let me try the raw tuna appetizer and it was super freaking good. Definitely will come back!

1st visit ever heres my breakdown, we ordered first the tuna plate and shrimp BBQ- shrimp excellent, tuna little heavy on sauce, next was brushetta and crab cakes - brushetta needed fresh chopped Basil not just basil oil and crab cakes were a Patte no Lump meat at all which was odd.. we also had the Wagu burger, it was good - ordered MEDIUM and was very tender, so delicious. This burger isn't seasoned so you enjoy the flavor of the meat! Its excellent. Visited the "speak easy" lol should be called downstairs coffee house. Closes at 10pm on a Saturday? Come on what is there to "Speak Easy" about? Overall it's a nice change up and the Employees all were very friendly. If you want bourbon, whiskey or rye they have 8000 to choose from on 1 of several menus..

We stopped in for dinner and had the Buffalo chicken wonton for a starter. I had the sirloin with the cheesy potatoes and my girl had the salmon with red potatoes. Is was all great and served quickly. The service was fabulous as always.

This was a cool place with a nice atmosphere, however the food was just average. Bruschetta appetizer was on point, delish. The chicken entree was kind of a small portion for the price. House salad was just a bunch of lettuce and a cucumber slice cut in half, we had to ask for dressing because it came naked. I asked for oil and vinegar (which was on the menu) - I don't know what kind of vinegar they brought, but it wasn't a good wine vinegar, it was way too harsh. Seriously, it just tasted like a plain, white vinegar. French onion soup was kind of meh, there was something missing but I couldn't quite put my finder on what. Our waitress was pleasant and professional. Overall a good experience, but I was hoping the food would be a bit better to justify the price.

Soooo! Goood!! Wow! What a selection of whiskeys! I was in awe. I got the salmon, a little dry, but the flavor was amazing! Sweet potato w candied pecans for the side were f’in hot!!! But absolutely delish! Then we got a peanut butter chocolate pie. Our waitress was on point!!! She was very attentive despite helping other tables. Super friendly!

We started with a couple appetizers, bacon wrapped bourbon shrimp which were amazing. We also got the bruschetta, I have been looking for a place that had brischetta made just like this and it did not disappoint. The filet was cooked to perfection at medium rare, my husband got the prime rib and it was cooked perfectly as well at med rare. We will definitely be back. The atmosphere was nice and the restaurant was decorated very stylishly. They had a very lengthy bourbon list. One thing that disappointed my husband was when he got a bourbon flight it was presented in shot glasses instead of a rocks glass. All in all it was delicious, our experience was great and we will be back!

I had the impossible burger! The staff were courteous helpful, always smiling, polite, and most of all the food was good!!! Mainly was a business meeting, the choice of the venue was spot on, sadly they didn't have the sirloin since I wanted to try it, maybe next time!

Fantastic bartenders, delicious food, and delicious drinks. I had the salmon, bourbon blueberry sour, and a coconut mojito. My partner had two of the rare whiskeys. It was a long wait if we didn't sit at the bar so we found 2 seats next to each other.

Food was awesome, husband likes his steaks well done which usually makes steaks dry but at this place it was still juicy. Service was great also . Just a little FYI if u have a large group( we had 11 ) they add 20% tip on the bill even if you do separate checks ,my husband noticed it but others in our group didnt so our server got a VERY nice tip from our group

This was my first time eating here. At first glance, the menu seemed sort of small but our server suggested their weekend feature. It was a prime rib so that's what I went with. It was DELICIOUS. We also got the fried buffalo chicken wontons. They too were amazing. They make up for their small menu with excellent food. Also, they have a MASSIVE drink selection. Our server Jordan was very nice and helpful as well. I do recommend.

Appetizer- bacon wrapped bourbon shrimp 5/5 Simple and delicious. Entree- 10 Oz. Sirloin 5/5 Top notch steak. Flavor was very nice. Side- Sweet potato casserole 5/5 My grand mother should be calling about how they acquired her recipe. Total takeaway. Entrees are expensive, but reasonably priced considering the quality. Kids menu items are very affordable. Good selection of legal beverages. Excellent service.

They have outstanding food! The steak and filets are cooked and seasoned to perfection. They have a nice variety of sides to go along with the dinner. Au gratin potatoes are not on the menu, but they sometimes have them. Ask for them, they are creamy and outstanding. The party I was in had one of each dessert and none were disappointing. I had the peanut butter pie and the crust and chocolate drizzle were fabulous. The restaurant itself is easy to get into and out of, and has a great cozy decor. The service was outstanding and the food was prepared fast and perfect.

I gave this place a visit a few times before reviewing it, as one visit doesn't always tell the whole story. So now that I have been to the restaurant a few times and as of last night the speak easy I can say that this place is one of the best places in Charleston for food and drinks. The service, food, drinks and ambience have always been great here. Wonderful job!

My wife and I haven’t had a date night alone Since before the pandemic. We chose Hale House because of their reputation and we were Soooooooo happy that we did. Christina our server was amazing and attentive and the food/atmosphere was exactly what we enjoy. Dark. Cozy. Thank you so much for to the staff for giving us the perfect date.

One of my favorite restaurants in Charleston and it's only been open since 2020. The bourbon & Whiskey selection are unmatched in the area. Delicious upscale cuisine and atmosphere. Cannot recommend enough!

Nice atmosphere and good service. Our server was very friendly and attentive. I ordered a basket of fries to start and they were hot fresh and delicious! I ordered a small order of wings with thei signature pineapple sauce and my boyfriend ordered a Wagyu cheeseburger with a side of fries. The wings were hot and tasty but the smallest wings I’ve ever seen especially for the price. The Wagyu burger was greasy topped with slices of a cheap American cheddar cheese. Not a fan of the burger. It was ok but pricey and not the best food in town. Hopefully things will improve.

Great food. I had the Wagyu burger and it was honestly the best burger I’ve had in Charleston. I guess a bunch of light bulbs all went out at once cause it was fairly dark in there. Other then a that overall a great experience.

Nothing but amazing things to say about this place. The Buffalo tenders were unreal, best house made blue cheese I’ve ever had, then I had the salmon and it was absolutely perfect. They have about 180 bottles of whiskey/bourbon/scotch and the service was amazing. Will be stopping by next time I pass through

I had dinner with 4 others and was seated quickly. The waiter was prompt and courteous. I ordered the crab cakes, that are made in house, and they were the best I have had in WV. I had the waygu burger for the main course prepared medium and loaded... it was mouth watering! Some of the other dishes ordered by my group were the grilled chicken and the salmon, which we all sampled and enjoyed very much. The music was slightly loud for conversation but that is just personal opinion. Bring your appetite, the portions are generous and the food is very tasty. You can't go wrong going to Hale House, a local establishment that is not a chain, they are doing things right!

Great standard American grill food. I had the grilled chicken with a pineapple glaze which was very sweet. Outdoor dining went well. The portions seemed maybe a tad small for the price. Service was alright and fast enough on a Saturday for our party of five.

My wife and I recently ate at the Hale House during their soft opening. We were very impressed. Most times a soft opening is a bit rough, but our experience was pretty great. I had the Wagyu burger and the apple Salad. My wife also had an apple salad and some buffalo wings. My burger did come a little pink even though I ordered it well done, but I didn't mention it to them because it was absolutely delicious. Our server was super nice as well. Drinks-wise I had the Bourbon Sangria, and my wife tried the Lemon Drop Martini and the Raspberry Martini. I'm not a Bourbon fan at all, but the Sangria was actually pretty good. The Lemon Drop was also very good, but super sweet...pretty much exactly like drinking a sour ball candy, so be forewarned :) . The Raspeberry Martini was pretty much perfect as well. Honestly, I really had no major complaints! It's nice to have another quality option in Charleston and I wish these guys the very best success. I'll definitely be back.

First time visiting Hale House and I was more than impressed. The place was quite busy but we had no wait for our reservation. Despite the crowd, I didn’t think it was excessively noisy inside. Terrific food and outstanding service. That made up for the rest. Tip was a not optional 20% and was called "use of room". Would have left that or more, but don't like being forced into my tip. Place was noisy. Not uncommon these days when they renovate down to bare brick walls and just paint everything above black, with nothing anywhere to deaden the racket. Great selection of whiskey, or whisky, if you like scotch.

If you don't normally eat a standard mustard catsup pickles... then order it your way and you'll really taste the waygu. Bloody Mary tasted great, but I would prefer much less ice. Highly recommend!

A cool retake on a Charleston spot known for great cocktails. My favorite menu change is that there are food options ranging from $12 to about $40. This is also a great bourbon bar that has flights so you can compare different flavors. A great opportunity to learn and find the flavor that suits your pallet best. I definitely reccomend stopping by after work or making your trip there a date night. This isnt a quiet place, so going with a few friends or other couples is ideal.

Best whiskey selection in Charleston and a staff that actually discourages intoxicated individuals from making stupid decisions with said selection, to-wit: when I was "in my cups" already and browsing the list the bartender thanked me for my interest but gently persuaded me to order a diet soda. Our server was extremely attentive, which was particularly challenging since we had a larger group. The Prime Rib was not a regular menu item, but was the special.
