The location was very nice, well kept, very clean and generally had a good vibe. When I first got there though, I was a little disappointed to find that their parking lot was very very small, so I had to go around the corner and pay for parking during one of the baseball games. The food was lovely though. A little strange. I got the crab filled filet (a special that evening) and it was just a really weird mix of flavors. Nicely cooked, but I'm not sure I would have it again. The tiramisu cake on the other hand was an absolute dream and I loved every bite of it. Our hostess was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the menu. The staff was fantastic. I can't say enough nice things about them! I'll definitely come back here again and try some more dishes (though I'll not scheduled to come there during a baseball game so I can find a place to park).

First time here. We were hoping to get a barrel booth but we didn't make reservations. We went around 7pm and we didn't have to wait but a few minutes to get a table. Our waiter was attentive and our food came out as ordered. We got the Filet Mignon with seasonal vegetables and mashed red potatoes AND the Parmesan Crusted Chicken with creamy risotto and asparagus. Both meals were very good. I do think it would of been nice if they offered a bread/roll type pre-meal food. We did not order a appetizer because we didn't know what size the portions would be but my fiance was still hungry after his meal so we would the next time. I would personally not take children as the prices are a little higher than average and I didn't see items geared to their usual likings. Overall though our food was very good and I'm sure we will go back again.

Very cool upscale bar/restaurant. Has stools at the bar and tables/booths on the floor. Pretty busy when I and a friend went, but our server, Tommy Mac (Hopefully spelled your name right), was incredibly attentive and considerate. Food was surprisingly prompt, given the circumstances-which was awesome. Had a Winter Pear Salad with some added chicken, would highly recommend it.

An amazing date night experience. Pleasant, quiet atmosphere. Our waitor was Matt and he was very helpful and attentive. Every bit of our food was simply delicious and cooked perfectly. My favorite in particular was the chef's special macaroni and cheese that my boyfriend split with me, the parmesan cheese hit the spot. We will most definitely return.

A group of us went to Bricks & Barrels for dinner before a show at the Clay Center. Service was great. Food was good overall. Only minor issue was the chicken in my Cajun chicken pasta left a lot to be desired. It was kind of tough, but I chose to overlook that as the rest of the dish was very good, still kind of disappointing for a $30 pasta dish. Friends ordered the seafood Alfredo and the pimento burger. Each reported them being good. The hiccup for the evening was when arrived. Upon entering the building my friend fell coming across the threshold. There is a low spot just as you enter under the rug and her shoe caught it. Not one person offered to help her, nor inquire if she was ok. The manager was sitting at the bar with another gentleman and we even overheard him remark to the mgr something about getting that fixed. The group behind us also told others to watch their step. The host didn’t do anything either, just stood there; granted he was on the phone, but after waiting for him to finish and greet us he still didn’t mention anything. She of course was embarrassed and brushed it off with our group, but even several days later her ankle/leg is still strained. Really disappointed in mgmt.

We had a very pleasant evening at Bricks and Barrels. Come earlier in the evening or make a reservation ahead of time though. Restaurant offers high quality dinner plates, have really attentive servers, lengthy cocktail / wine / beer lists and delicious dessert menu.

100 stars! Do not hesitate to stop by. I found this gem in the heart of our capital market area so glad I did. When you walk in it has a very cozy welcome feeling. The hosts are always kind and accommodating and the server's are on point with the exceptional service. The decor is very elegant but simple. You can dress up or down here and you will have a great meal. The Salmon is delicious! Everything cooked perfectly so we're the brussel sprouts Wich usually I don't care for. I am one of those people fix it my way. Not here I had everything as recommended delicious! Also the mixologists are great best Martini's in town! Love this place I am now a regular 🙂

Both the food and drinks were great. I know I had the bourbon peacan pie martini. The atmosphere was very nice. Definitely unique. Me and my wife sat at the bar and ate but they have some really cool looking barrel rooms.

Excellent little warehouse conversion. Food was very good. All local beers on tap. Barrel booths are very unique. Pro bartender Drew. Parking is tight. Airline chicken was excellent. Prices are inline. A homerun.

Food was outstanding and even with a non-stocked full menu they made it work. My first trip to this place, but definitely not my last time eating here!!! Well- done Bricks & Barrels!!!

Awesome food. Great service. Can't wait to come back. We had the fried green tomatoes with pimento. The steak on top was perfect. I had the chicken sandwich with the truffle tots. The truffle tots were delicious. Loved them. The chicken sandwich was good and seasoned. Lots of bacon too. My girlfriend had the hangover burger with fries. It was delicious and cooked perfectly. The fries were seasoned with something and they tasted amazing too. Can't wait to come back. All the desserts looked amazing as well.

The food was excellent as was the service. Food presentation was some of the best in Charleston. Drinks were mixed well. No watered down beverages here! The atmosphere was calm with an 80s playlist in the background. Decor was coherent and pleasant. Food prep and timing was nearly perfect. Overall experience left me feeling satisfied and worth the price tag.

Who knew this little gem was hiding in Charleston WV??! If you're tired of the same old franchise food, you must reserve a table here. The Caprese salad and the Sea Bass were oh so flavorful. And get the TOTS. I liked the alcoves shaped like wine barrels,where we dined with some privacy. We were not neglected nor were we rushed. The server was impeccable. We will return. This is an adult atmosphere so I don't recommend bringing the kiddos.

Charcuterie board was sparsely filled, and looked like a first attempt. It was a 35 minute delay between the completion of the appetizer , and when the entrées arrived. The restaurant was not extremely busy and our server was tentative, polite, and eager to please. The entrées were satisfying, but the sides seem tired, the mashed potatoes were dry and bland in the green beans look like they had sat for a while in the kitchen.

the seared tuna was delicious. sea bass was ok, but I wouldn't try it again. the lamb was decent but lacking flavor. a little pricey but an overall good experience.

Food is great. Very dark lighting so it's more romantic I think but my steak was cooked perfect. The hummus plate appetizer had no flavor but great presentation. All in all a good time

Everything was really good except my husband got mashed potatoes as his side on the surf and turf and they had to be instant and for a meal that is almost $60 he was a little disappointed. The steak and my seafood dish were very good.

After eating here I would say that the food is delicious, I ordered a filet medium rare. It was cooked perfectly. We ordered our kid chicken strips and fries. I would say that if you have a toddler this isnt the best place for a little one. I also expected to have complementary bread or something along the lines instead of having to order an appetizer but they didnt so when we left I was actually still hungry. Other than that our waitress was great and the food tasted great. Just make sure you order an appetizer to leave full!

Ribeye was good. More on the medium well side than medium rare but the taste was still good. Got a calamari appetizer and that was delicious. The sides tasted good but the portions were tiny. Like a spoonful of mashed potatoes left me wanting more. Atmosphere was chill and the staff was friendly and helpful. I'd come back if i was ever in the area again.

An absolutely great experience. I wish we had come here previously. The service was great. The wasabi tuna appetizer was amazing. I had the Shrimp and Grits. They were good as well. The drinks were wonderful -- be sure to try an award winning Manhattan. Highly recommended.

I have eaten Lobster ravioli in many places and on cruise ships. The Lobster ravioli at Bricks and Barrels was by far THE BEST I have ever had. The food portions were huge; see picture of Charcuterie board.

Love this restaurant and food. Great mixed drinks too! Atmosphere is great. Right by Appalachian Power Park great for before a game or starting a night out. There are private settings and they do take reservations. Parking can be tricky (a bit limited). Gift cards are available as well.

Visiting from out of town, we thought this looked like a cool place to have dinner. Everything from our server, to the expert cocktails, to the delicious food was amazing! The atmosphere was peaceful and our server was very attentive. The bartender even spared a few precious minutes to come to our table and share with us the ratios for the awesome Manhattan he prepared for me. All in all our experience was exceptional and when we next visit Charleston, WV we will certainly come back to Bricks & Barrels!

Outstanding Appetizer- green tomatoes! The entre was sea bass and it was cooked to perfection. My boyfriend had the sea scallops and he gave me a bite of them and they were heavenly! The desert was peanut butter pie and it was the best I have ever had! The lemon drop martini was awesome! I can't wait to go back!

When you enter the building there is a smell that smells old and moldy. It's distracting once your seated the smell goes away. Hostess was kind seated us in the barrel we had reservations but didn't specify on seating. Waitress was kind and efficient. She as attentive and always kept our waters filled. Food for the price was just not there. Ordered filet mignon and a bone in ribeye, the sides were subpar. The meat itself was cooked the way we liked just lacked flavor. Green beans were cold while the mashed potatoes were steaming hot. The aesthetic in the dining area is nice and romantic. Was this still a nice dinner with my husband? Yes. Would it be somewhere I come back to? No

This place is awesome. Their fried green tomato Napoleon has FILET MIGNON on it! This is a meal in itself if you pair it with one of their delicious soups. I’d also recommend their butter basted salmon We ate there the day we arrived and just had to eat there once more before we left two days earlier. Not an inexpensive place, but the food is worth it.

The food was excellent with a variety of prices. A full bar with some signature drinks exclusive to the bartender. A pretty average selection of beers. One in our party wanted the shrimp and grits but they were out of grits. They offered a steak, but they build at the lower price of the shrimp.

First time here.. Nice little date nite spot. The food was very good. We had the spinach artichoke dip with fried pita, very good. I had the seafood pasta my wife had the bone in ribeye. The pasta was cooked very well. The steak was tender and lots of flavor and cooked properly. The service was attentive and knowledgeable of the menu and answered our all our questions

Asides from excellent food and a tasteful upscale environment, the biggest takeaway was the hospitality. In short, members of the staff (Vicki and others) were helpful in escorting my partially disabled father and elderly grandmother outside in the rain (holding umbrellas, walking to the car). Additionally, without request, they altered a barrel room with different seating in order to accommodate my fathers needs. Will certainly be back when traveling through Charleston again.

Everything about this experience was amazing. The servers were on par, the music and atmosphere is perfect for a local wv restaurant, the drink specials and local drafts were crisp and perfect, the food was outstanding, everything down to the timing of meals, drinks, and appetizers was fabulous. Will revisit soon, I suggest the lamb chops!

Was not impressed with this place at all especially after hearing so many good things about this place. The appetizers, dessert, and drinks were good enough to warrant 5 stars on their own but the ball was dropped by whoever does the entrees. Our table had 3 steaks, 2 fillets, 2 orders of lamb, parmesan encrusted chicken and a pasta with a $7 chicken add on. All 3 steaks came out colder than the plates they were served on, unseasoned, and tougher than what you would expect from a $54 dollar steak. The fillets were the same story, the lamb was unseasoned as well but tender as expected, the only entree with no complaints was the chicken. You would expect the simplest dish would have came out fairly quickly being a vegetable pasta with an emphasis on the $7 chicken add on but wow was that a disappointment. The pasta not only came out when the table was halfway through eating the other entrees but the pasta was a mix of hot and cold (meaning the pasta was pre cooked and microwaved after coming out of the fridge) and that $7 chicken add on was just plain grilled chicken chunks, not strips, chunks that when put in the same spot was no bigger than my thumb. That's $7 for for roughly a soup spoon sized portion of chicken. I'm willing to accept this may have been an off night for the kitchen but for the prices you shouldn't have any off nights and unfortunately I'd have to give this place a hard pass for anyone looking for a guaranteed nice evening if you want more than appetizers and drinks.

The food was amazing. I had steak and Mac and cheese that was good but that lava cake for dessert was to die for! The staff was friendly and welcoming. Our waiter was amazing! The restaurant itself is absolutely adorable! We ate in giant barrel. I can’t wait to go back!

Went for a work dinner and really liked it! The atmosphere is peaceful and intimate, with a beautiful interior design. The cocktails were delicious (slightly strong - but not complaining!) and the food was also great. I got the parmesan encrusted chicken with risotto and asparagus. There was enough for me to take home for lunch for the next day, and it still tasted just as good! The strawberry shortcake I had for dessert was possibly the best I've had! Definitely would recommend.

Ate dinner and it was an okay experience. For the restaurant I got the Bone In Ribeye and my wife got the hangover burger. My ribeye was cooked and tasted perfect. The sides were bland. My wife enjoyed her burger. Environment was great a good blend of fine dining and a bar feel. The biggest complaint we had was our server. She forgot my beer twice. First time it sat on the bar till almost warm, the second one might be still sitting there.

Had a overall wonderful experience for a New Years Eve dinner with the family. They were able to accommodate a large group. Wait staff were attentive and on point, even with the large group. They offered a special meal with both wine and bourbon pairings which were excellent. Only criticism would be over the wife's scallops on her surf and turf, they were cold and rubbery. Will definitely be back.

The food, service and atmosphere was perfect. Started with Caprese salad for my wife and I. My daughter had the hummus platter as an appetizer. We all shared that and it was exceptional. For main course my wife and I both had the shrimp and grits. They were heavenly. Too much to eat. My daughter had the PB & J burger with tater tots. After all the hummus and pita bread she could only eat half. I tried a bite and it was awesome. So for great food and service, this is the place to go in Charleston!

Great dining experience! We called them the day of for a birthday dinner and they offered us a barrel or the dining room. We asked for a private barrel and loved the atmosphere! The chef, Jacob, came out to check on us and even wished a happy birthday to my family member. Everyone in the restaurant was friendly and had no problem with us staying past closing time to wrap up our dinner. Thankful we have such a fine dining establishment in Charleston. Will absolutely be returning!

There's no place I would rather go if I'm looking for a gourmet dinner. I'm proud to see this locally owned restaurant in Charleston thrive. The menu selection and atmosphere are those you would find at a high end restaurant in a large metro area. Friendly faces and great selection of wine, beer, and spirits. I love suggesting it to newcomers or inviting out of town guests to join me here. By far one of the best that Charleston has to offer!

We dropped in here for a business dinner for four on a weeknight and we absolutely love it! The waiter was very personable and polite. Everyone ate ever single bite of their food. The service was great!! Its a bit too dark for my liking. I ordered the bone in rib eye h it was cooked exactly med rare which was a neat trick as thin as the steak was. It tasted fine. The seasonal vegetables were amazing h the mashed potatoes were very good. All in all not a great meal but definitely not a bad meal. I will definitely give them another try but not for the steak.

Dined in on 3/13/2021 for celebrating my partner’s birthday. I was sure to do all the right things such as: research a great place - make a reservation - show up a few minutes early - dress nicely - save my appetite! When we entered the establishment we were blown away by what we saw (in a good way.) The hostess greeted us and was very attentive. We were seated at our table and awaited our server. Some time (15-20 minutes) passed by. We were then served water in styrofoam cups. The server said the glasses were not clean. (Our reservation was at 6:30pm.) I wasn’t sure how they were “out” but we didn’t think too much about this. Until of course, every table around us (freshly seated) received actual glasses. I was confused as to why the server kept telling us they were “still out of glasses” each time he filled our styrofoam cups with a flask of water, when that was quite obviously a lie. Thank God I spoke up to put in the wine order and appetizer because after we got our wine and appetizer the server would walk by and just look at us or fill our styrofoam cups with water. We weren’t sure when he would eventually ask us for our food order. I’m not kidding, from sit down time to finally stopping the server in mid-gait to take our dinner order, it was over an hour. I’d planned to order dessert, another bottle of wine and really enjoy the time at the establishment, but the server was nowhere near up to par. Had it seemed like an off day I would have let it go, but considering he was fully capable of serving the rest of the tables in his section with no visible issues I feel there must have been something else going on. What that is, I don’t know. I was actually in town from St. Louis and have been left with a strange impression of dining in Charleston, WV. The server can thank the amazing quality from your kitchen and fantastic hostess for the tip that was received. As a former server, it was hard to stomach the lack of skill, attentiveness and professionalism used at the table. I am actually a huge tipper when service is great considering my past experience in working for tips in the restaurant industry. I hope this was a complete fluke.

The atmosphere was pleasant, server was great, however, I found the food mediocre. For the price, it did not live up to ratings and expectations. We waited a very long time on our food. A few folks that were seated well after received their food ahead of us. I paid $3 extra to change potatoes for a 1/4 cup of grilled vegetables, that were delivered cold. The T-bone was bland, tough, overcooked and well overpriced. My wife and I thought overall it was a great experience to try, but would not go back or recommend. One of the best whisky selections in West Virginia, reasonably priced, and a great draft beer selection with an emphasis on local brews. And as an added bonus, the happy hour (4-7 most nights) pricing is the best deal in town: $4 full pints, regardless of the usual price. It's a great way to get a fantastic beer at an unbeatable price. Throw in an attentive, professional bartender and you have a truly must-try experience.

The staff is excellent but unfortunately the food is not. My wife's steak had too much salt and seasoning, hiding the taste of the meat. Our friend had the scallops. Four scallops and all were quite small. His wife had the lobster bisque. Too much flour makes for a lumpy texture. My swordfish was excellent. Cooked correctly and seasoned well. I must say the bacon wrapped shrimp and the fried green tomato appetizers were excellent. Maybe just a bad night, all restaurants have them. Will give them a second chance.

Misleading. Due to the name me and my family assumed this was a Pizza joint. the name bricks and barrels, with a town that has pies n pints, i was thinking bricks indicated a brick oven and barrels indicated beer and wine. Now barrels did indicate booze. they had a nice selection. We get in there and we are the first people there and not thinking of it, but when we seen more guests and the wait staff, we realize we are dressed way to redneck for this fancy place. Then i noticed the regular menu has nothing a picky kid will eat and the prices almost made me leave before ordering. we stayed, the portions for the kids menu was more that adequate and the kids said their meals were great. The service was slow and my beer was warm. Our meals were amazing. I will only go again as a date with my wife or a business meeting, but will not take the kids.

From out of town and it popped up on our search, reservation wasn’t required but the atmosphere was very pleasant and high end with moderate prices. A coworker and I stopped by after work on a Friday. We received prompt and attentive service through our meal all while the restaurant really picked up and become more crowded. My coworker had the filet and it looked great and I chose the Hangiver Burger with truffle tots. Both tasted great. They have a great selection of spirits and domestic beers. There is more private seating in areas that look like large casks. A wonderful place to discuss business or relax.

First time here, a unique dining experience in a barrel. If I were a carnivore I would probably give it 5 stars since that's what the menu is geared towards. I had the Cajun pasta dish with chicken, it was good. Also ordered a small House salad (which does not come with dinner) the salad was rather dry but fresh. They do not serve any type of bread at the table or with meals. Overall a bit pricey I think. They do serve Coke Zero, but were out when we visited :(

This was my second time visiting this establishment. Pros: The shrimp and grits were phenomenal. The building was very attractive and the environment was welcoming. My husband enjoyed his steak. Cons: We ordered the crab cake appetizer. I found three pieces of shell while eating. The waiter forgot to bring our sides. When he finally did bring them, the brussels sprouts were very burnt.

Went with a party of 7 on a Friday night, called ahead for reservations. The place was fairly busy but not at capacity, with 6-8 bar seats available for a good portion of our dinner. DRINK VARIETY: The beer selection is better than most places but still doesn't come close to Pies and Pints, however they do have a full bar and my wife enjoyed a few of the mixed drinks. I feel the serving staff would benefit from some more training in craft beer (Cicerone materials or something similar). SERVICE: This place has a lot of potential, however everything was way too slow (There were several times where I remember looking around the restaurant and almost no one was eating, yet many were obviously still waiting on appetizers or entrees). The bar was also very slow initially to get drinks out and didn't seem to be prioritizing drink orders well. The server wasn't bad, however there were a lot of little things going on the background (several glasses dropped and broken while we were there, at least one time was due to a busser trying to overload himself for seemingly no reason). The manager was supposedly going to stop by and visit due to how long everything was taking but that never happened. PRICE: 130$ for 2 beers, 2 mixed drinks, 2 entree's and tip. I had Chilean Sea Bass (Excellent) and my wife had Scallops. Overall a bit on the pricey side (I was upcharged 6$ to go from Mixed Veggies to Brussel Sprouts despite being the same price on the menu?) Mixed drinks were 10$ that I feel would have probably been 8 elsewhere, just a lot of small things that add up. QUALITY: Extremely inconsistent, our party was generally unhappy with variations in food temperature. The server brought out some replacement sides (WAAAY too much) but given how long everything took, the kitchen staff did not do a good job making sure everything was hot. Overall I loved my entree at least, it was my first time having that particular type of fish though and I'm sure I would love it anywhere that adequately prepares it. I would most likely only come back here during off-peak hours with my wife.

I normally like this place. The atmosphere is inviting and warm, their drinks are excellent, and the food is usually on par with the best in town. However, this time I am not sure if they recently changed meat producers or switched to a less quality product the filet was tough rubbery. Almost like it had been microwaved or something. The parmesan risotto was chewy and not cooked all the way through. The fried green tomatoes were still excellent, I was disappointed especially for the price of the entree. I'd liked to say I'd return, however, I definitely will not order the filet.

Great dining experience every time!! The tater tot appetizer is a classy start using a not so classy ingredient. I always love the salmon for my entree. The sweet potato purée is so good!! Atmosphere and service was good. Two dishes were overcooked, but they immediately fixed the problem. The steak special with gouda cheese was great. They no longer carry the Impossible buger, although it was on the menu. They offered their version of vegi burger, but opted for the PB&J burger - too much PB and not enough jalapeno jelly. Adult beverage selection was good. Bad Shepherd Beer company's Dashcam Famous beer is highly recommended.

A fabulously flavorful Fried green tomato Napoleon. Lots of coconut on the Coconut fried shrimp, imparted good flavor and texture. Mediterranean chicken became a clean plate meal. Excellent! Three peppercorn tuna was flavorful as well. We didn't get to sit in a barrel but after that meal we will have to return to sit in a barrel.

Fantastic experience. Started with the Bacon wrapped shrimp, which were excellent, the bacon was crisp and tasty. Also had the calamari which was cooked perfectly, my kids loved it. Had the Chicken Parmesan and Brussel sprouts for dinner, which were both amazing, the tasso ham in the sprouts was a nice touch. Kids portions were excellent, and both the kids loved the homemade 5 cheese pasta. My wife had the creme brûlée and I had the bread pudding for dessert. Both were unbelievable. Great bourbon selection, and even accommodated my daughter who asked for a "ice ball" in her water glass. Amazing service and good food. Can't recommend it enough.

If you're going to put shrimp n grits on your menu, you better know what you're doing. This entree is excellent. The shrimp is plump and dense, but the taste is balanced with the gravy, the peppers, the sausage, and a rich gravy. The grits are perfect: not as thick as polenta but creamy and flavorful. This fish just needs a toasted baguette to help get the goodness on the fork. The burgers are tasty and cooked to perfection. The fries are crisp and savory. We left very happy.

The food and drink choices here are excellent. The decor and theming is fun. The lobster pop appetizer is great amd the seafood pasta dish is amazing. Save some room for dessert because the peanut butter pie should not be missed. I will definitely come back the next time I am in town even though its a on the edge of the city. Made reservations 2 months in advance for Valentine’s Day. Set a reminder on my phone for when earliest time a reservation could be placed. Arrived- parking lot is extremely small and not accommodating 15 spots for a restaurant that seats probably 150+. Was told we couldn’t sit in a barrel because “those people made a reservation 2 months in advance.” I explained I did as well and “sorry” is alI got. To make things worse, we were seated in a back room, in the open middle with about 8 other tables where the lighting was extremely bright and we were next to the kitchen and sounded like a construction zone. Our cheap table wobbled back and forth the entire night. The ambiance of this specific little area felt like we were paying for a $50.00 steak and sitting in a Panera bread with brick on the adjacent wall. The service was extremely slow. Seated at 4:30 and our waitress introduced herself at 4:50. We left at 6:15. Food review- some of it was just mediocre. Some of it was great. Unfortunately, not good enough to make up for the hassle of parking, the incompetence of securing a reservation and the lack of customer service when we voiced our concerns. The ambiance seemed cool in the other main area of the restaurant. If we hadn’t made a reservation 2 months in advance and specified a barrel we wouldn’t have been as disappointed in our seating section. I assume the slow service would have happened regardless where we sat. Total let down and likely won’t go back. Should have went to the chop house

Great steak house. Cozy environment, very nice waiters, perfectly cooked and delicious steak, craft beer what more could you want? (Maybe a slightly lower bill😉)
