Reviews of The Spot
This place is spot on. The meals are great portions and the service was awesome. We happened to decide on breakfast at the same time they had a meeting going on with the Mayor of Burlington.
A really cool and unique restaurant! Being the insides of an old gas station it's quite small but it adds to the charm. When we went for breakfast it was a very busy day. There also is not a lot of parking. However if you are a key to get a spot it really is the spot. The surfer aesthetic is really well done and unique in Vermont.
Be warned the food is amazing, but also massive. The sizes of food are enormous for example my side of a pancake was bigger than most pancakes I had even seen before. That was on top of my main omelet which was the size of my arm. This isn't a negative but something to note when going.
Staff was also very sweet
We visited the area for the long weekend, eating in different places each meal. This was by far the best breakfast we had. The bacon was cooked perfectly! Crispy, but not rubbery. The pancakes were perfectly bluffy. My daughters breakfast tacos were great, and plentiful. Service was tremendous. The restaurant is cool and funky, in an old gas station, and everything is Hawaiian/surving themed. They even have their own homemade hot sauce. Worth the visit! We saved the best for last! If we found this place first, we'd have only come here.
First time there. Definitely a popular place (unique idea for sure!) but we weren't impressed. 45 mins wait for table.. Understandable - foliage - holiday wkend. that was ok. But this place is so poorly managed - 6 wait staff and they couldn't manage to clean tables or take orders. Our waitress must have been new. food didn't come to table as we ordered and all it was was soup!
They should have told us the home fries had hot seasoning in them - couldn't eat them at all after first bite. Omelet was okay. The pancake we shared was fair. We won't return - but I'm guessing we are in the minority. I hope they succeed - and I hope they take these comments to heart.
We got the Tsunami, green smoothie, banana/strawberry/pineapple smoothie, the triple crown, and pancakes with fresh fruit. Everything was fresh, service was great, the only downside was being bombarded by yellow jackets as soon as our food came out. It was very disruptive.
The service is great. Awesome location. Where do I even start with the food and drinks ? Fresh , crisp , gourmet , satisfying. For both take out and dine in. Yummy yummy yummy!
Very good breakfast at a fair price! Everything I asked for was made to order and served quickly and hot. The place had a very cool and safe atmosphere. The took all the covid precautions seriously. And there was ample outdoor seating that was covered just in case of a light rain. I will definitely eat here again if I visit this town
Fun surfer style spot in a repurposed old gas station. I remember when this place first opened, the food was just ok as was the service. Since then however, they have made tremendous improvements and the food and service are now great! Portions are large and quality is high while the price is reasonable. The staff is friendly and the restaurant has a nice Cali style vibe and surfer style decor. Sitting outside in the warmer months is a great option here and you can sit outside with your dog. Only reason it gets 4/5 from me is because the coffee is just ok. Great spot though, highly recommend!
Went here for lunch and it was so good that we went for breakfast the following day! Lunch consisted of the Hamilton sandwich, which is basically a “Reuben”, equipped with pickles and delicious chips. Amazing sandwich with melted cheese and sautéed peppers. Breakfast was very good too. I had the crepe stuffed with fruit (which were previously frozen, but good), chocolate sauce and whipped cream. My friend had pancakes, which she found to be a bit underwhelming but overall the meal was very tasty and it’s a fun atmosphere.
The pancakes were great! I really liked the style of this restaurant. If you enjoy Hawaiian theme, this is your place. The team members were really friendly.
What a place! I've lived in Burlington for years and never knew about this place! so glad I finally visited. Their salads are huge and absoloutely delicious! Had to try my friend's home made fries... O...M..G... please do yourself a favor and go try this place!
Loved this place, it had a really cool vibe to it and the food was great. We had a veggie burger and chicken salad. Can't remember the exact name from the menu but food was delish. Must try !
Good food and reasonably priced. I didn't love it though because it was so LOUD inside. Every surface is hard, so the sound of people talking just gets louder and louder. It's hard to hear yourself think, let alone talk to your lunch partner. I understand that it's probably the vibe they're going for, but I personally didn't enjoy myself.
Interesting use of a old gas station. Thought the food was ok. Happily surprised there was no Spam on the menu, with the Hawaiin theme.
Welcoming atmosphere with a great choice of foods with large size portions. The potatoes were uniquely seasoned with nothing over seasoned. The staff was quick to seat and serve. Food came quickly. I enjoyed my experience here and would absolutely go again.
Picked this place randomly. The name is right 100%. It’s the spot that I will no coming back to and telling others about. Everything was great! No regrets at all. If your in the area this is THE SPOT!!
A wonderful place for an outside breakfast or lunch, right on Shelburne road. If you are riding bikes you can keep an eye on them from your table, under what was a solid awning, shaped like a wing, left from it's former life as a gas station/convenience store. Stop going there during the pandemic. Glad to see that they were busy when I visited there last week.
Great breakfast spot.... Relaxed surf shop vibe decor. Fantastic omelettes and crepes. Bloody Mary with Jalapeno infused vodka was very good.
7am on a nice Saturday they have great smelling coffee and cool outdoor seating. The Tequila Sunrise is perfect, food portions are fairly big which is cool.
Outdoor seating and dog friendly. Drinks were great and the food was delicious. Cool vibes and a SoCal menu make this place unique.
Excellent ambiance, very fast service, and the food surpassed expectations. Great spot.
Great staff, nice crowd. Awesome venue, bra'. The Hamilton is thee best steak and cheese (w/ veggies) EVER. The specials are always creative and tasty...
Great little place for breakfast and lunch.
Huevos rancheros, Quiver and Ole were all delish.
One of the few breakfast dine-in restaurants in the south end of Burlington. My wife and I enjoyed a delicious breakfast in a dining area with a chill beach vibe. They have a broad breakfast menu that will bring us back but what sealed the deal was having chorizo on the menu.
Best breakfast in town and friendly staff. I also lived the tropic vibes. Highly reccomend.
Food was good we eat inside but the garage doors were open we. Had to keep the flies away from are food
In Burlington for a wedding. This is an old Phillips 66 gas station turned into and inside and outside eating. The food is delicious and service was great. Definitely will be back!
Fabulous breakfast including some spicy Mexican options and gluten-free toast. The date we visited masks and vaccinations were NOT required so even though the atmosphere is cool surf you don't have to be a virtue-signaling Burlington hipster to enjoy it. I highly recommend this place!
Genius repurposing idea! Fast, friendly service, fun, laid-back vibe.
Great food, amazing staff. Laid back atmosphere 🤙 …
Some of the best food in Burlington, hands down. Great menu, great service, and great atmosphere! Went to Burlington multiple times this summer and had to come back and grab a bite here every time. The retro look and feel of the restaurant makes it not just a restaurant but a destination restaurant, one everyone needs to try!
A homespun breakfast nook posing as a gas station, passersby need do a double take to make sure they're not seeing things. But the neck craning is worth it, from the coffee through the breakfast options and tasting the final product, this quaint little eatery does not disappoint. The food is cooked well, portions are reasonable and the price well within reach of your expectations.
Breakfast or dinner -- both are delicious! Staff is wonderful and the dynamic in the restaurant will put a smile on your face, while you sit back with a drink and enjoy the surfer vibes. We love bringing our dog and sitting outside in the summer time!
Went here for breakfast on a Sunday, so it was busy. We got seated fairly quickly, and the service was pretty good. I would hesitate to say excellent. The food came out quickly, and was good. Good portions for the price. The tables are close together. It's not upscale, but not a diner either. I wouldn't know what to call it. The place is popular, so the service staff is eager to get people seated in your spot once you're done. I'll return eventually, but I'm not chomping at the bit to go by.
Went here for breakfast and was extremely happy with the service. The food was out of this world. I will definitely be back.
Had the chorizo breakfast tacos .. they were pretty good. They mixed the egg in with the chorizo so I didn’t know it was egg at first and it completely grossed me out. Once I realized it was scrambled eggs I was able to eat my food lol my husband enjoyed his food. I would probably never get the chorizo tacos again.. maybe choose a different meat.
Food was above average but nothing to write home about. Staff was friendly, the aesthetic was interesting, but a little cheesey. My biggest complaint would have to be the other patrons, kind of the uptight rich snoody crowd.
Delicious food. Great music. Great vibe. Friendly service. Wheelchair accessible. Will be visiting again when in Burlington.
The food was delicious and timely. I had the Vermont cheese steak. Serving staff was attentive and quite friendly. They do need to train the bees. 🤣 Nice place. …
Ambiance
The spot seems to have the bones of a retro gas station then turned dinner with plenty of covered seating outside, and a fairly large seating area inside. The menu states they sought a west coast surf vibe with great locally sourced ingredients.
Service:
fairly attentive, but slow at times.
Food:
They need to do a better job at stating allergens on their menu. Besides that this place offers a plethora of meaty and vegetarian friendly fare.
I really like this restaurant. The food is great, the drinks are great, as well as the staff.
The only drawbacks pertain to the size and structure of the building. It's difficult to comfortably wait there for a table, as there isn't an area designed for waiting. It's a bit suffocating to wait for your table. It's worth it though. Everyone that works there that I have met so far has been very nice.
I am a huevos rancheros fanatic. These were so good: salsa, green sauce delicious. My husband had yougurt, granola and egg sandwich, delish also. The spot is well located, outdoor seating, good service. Pretty spot laid back in burlington. Recommend it highly.
Fish tacos for breakfast, would you have ever even imagined that??!!! They are way better than you think!!
I came here because I was in town visiting and my friend was at work so I needed to do homework and have breakfast. Unfortunately I couldn't do homework because then I would of had to move to the bar area to use my laptop and quite frankly it didn't look comfortable so I just decided against it but it was probably the most disappointing part of my visit because it caused me to feel rushed. The service over all was okay, the waitress was attentive and didn't miss a beat. I wouldn't say it was the most welcoming environment but they did their job and they did it well enough.
I ordered coffee, an apple cider mimosa and fish tacos for breakfast. For my first apple cider mimosa I think it was pretty good, kind of more tart than I expected but good nonetheless. The fish tacos were huge but only came with fish tacos and nothing else however it filled me up with just one of the breakfast tacos so having no sides didn't really matter. The fish was like a backnote of the tacos with beans and eggs taking most of the space but the flavors melded together so well.
It definitely wasn't one of my top places for breakfast during my last trip into town and I may come back here next time I'm in town for the tacos but that would be my main reason to go.
Can’t speak of the food but the drinks were hands down the best drinks I’ve had in Vermont in a long time. Most bars and restaurants in the area don’t know how to make a proper or good margarita and often concoct a below average mixed drink. Stopped here and tried 4 different cocktails and they were all great. Highly recommend the punch. It is refreshing to know that bars still exist who have a proper pour and don’t skimp out on liquor. To further praise the quality of drink, it absolutely slams the windjammer, RiRas, shelburne tap house and koto, all of which I stopped at this week. The atmosphere was nice and the music selection was great too. Rock on slightly stoopid!
The California Toast was absolutely delicious, with the best guacamole and fresh, firm tomato. Also, fresh mango and berries made the fruit cup a taste sensation. Good coffee and excellent service, too!
Fish Taco rocks! Salad and Chicken sandwich were also crowd pleasers. Waitress forgot drinks, acted like she was slammed. Restaurant wasn't even packed? To bad rest of experience was good.
7/3/13... Tried the spot again, Fish Taco, Chicken sandwich and Burger special were all great! Service was better than last time. Waitress still needs to work on customer delivery. I know picky, this was an improvement over last experience and prompted my up grade from fair service to good.
First dining out experience since the Stay Home/Stay Safe order and it couldn't have been better! The outdoor table arrangement and staff procedures made me feel safe. The huevos rancheros tasted even better than I remembered.
The Spot is one of my all time favorite local places to eat. The food is amazing and the staff are all super nice. It is definitely worth going in the warmer seasons so that you can sit outside!
There was only outside eating due to covid 19. They did not give us paper menus like another restaurant we visited. They did NOT tell us to look at an online menu. We finally figured that out. The coffee was very bitter. The crepes were missing the banana and chocolate sauce listed on the menu. The blueberries were canned, not fresh.
Really cool vibe at The Spot! Service is friendly and timely while the food is great. Icing on the cake is that they take care of the planet too. As few plastics as possible and renewable energy on property are just a couple examples.
Very good place for breakfast, consistent, good quality, good portions and they will customize your order. This is definitely one of our "go-to places."
So effing nice to go out to eat again. Sudden wind, rain & hail didn't prevent us from having cocktail hour, then cauliflower nachos, lobster roll, and a BLT. All of it served by a perfectly charming staff, eager to help. So get out there and let them help you!
Move from South Burlington recently and the Spot is one of the places I miss the most. Fast service and great food. Love the breakfast burrito, Hamilton sandwich, 50 cent wings on Wednesday’s, fish taco, and more. Never really had anything I didn’t like. Fun in the summer too.
Good food and service. There were four of us in the group and all enjoyed their food. I would eat there again. Loved the bacon.
I like this little joint. It looks like an old gas station. You could pass it by without noticing, but don't. Good breakfast places are important. Didn't your Mother tell you it's the most important meal of the day? Skip the crowded downtown Burlington restaurant scene and check this one out. A lot of Mexican inspired dishes here, so eat your avacadoes and get some chorizo. Mom knows a thing or two.
One of my favorite breakfast and lunch spots. Be ready to wait to sit during peak times, but it is worth it! The breakfast burrito and tuna melt are some of my favorites. The prices are very fair the lovely quality of ingredients.
1st time here. This place is packed...and for a good reason. I had the pork potstickers appy. They were Freakin awesome. That along with $3.00 Corona's on Friday is my Friday place to be. I can't wait to try the rest of the items on the menu.
Ordered post covid- Got our meal to go. Order was ready in 15 minutes. Staff was friendly. Three meals for under $38. Only thing was we wish we had sauce on our meal..which would have been a pro in sitting inside. Will return!
Sunday brunch - we were seated right away around 11- before the crowds arrived. Great brunch fare- good enough cup of coffee- full menu available. Good service too.
Good, but overpriced. The food and service is fine, but they charge over $8 for a sandwich. I got a chicken sandwich where I was expecting a chicken breast, but instead, they cut the chicken on a meat slicer, so I ended up with a paper thin piece of meat and then they charged an extra $2.25 for some bacon. Probably won't be going back...
Awesome little place great food .
Great surf themed place to grab breakfast and brunch! The food has always been good and the staff is great. Good place for drinks and a breakfast burrito after working overnights
Love the fish tacos! Their breakfast/brunch menu is especially good, but be warned that the place is crowded for weekend brunch! There is not usually a wait for dinner though.
Great meal and wonderfully transformed former service station. Great craft brew options. BLT was a knockout!!! Recommend highly for something off the chain beaten path.
Love the food -- creative and yummy. Gets very loud, though. Good service, funky surf vibe, nicely-sized portions.
Good lunch and beer selection. Surfer motif is fun, especially in Vermont. Usually ample seating during the lunch hour but can get busy for sure.
A delightful surprise on the way out of Vermont for the last time as my kid graduated from UVM. we were looking for something before heading out of town and the food did not disappoint!
We went there on a Sunday for lunch. I waited for about 20 minutes for a table. It was worth it. Staff were friendly, food was fast and good, drink was very good, particularly coconut milkshake, highly recommended.
The only place I have found in Vermont that serves salmon poke, a Hawaiian dish. For $10, I would have liked the portion size to be a little bigger. Definitely will satisfy your poke craving.
Incredibly fast and quality service! Out of all the breakfast burritos I’ve had in Burlington, this one now stands as my favorite. Really unique vibe as far as BVT restaurants go. I dig it.
Best breakfast (and not bad lunch too). Fun decor in remodeled gas station with outdoor seating. Great waitstaff and service.
There was practically no wait to get in and the design/atmosphere is fun but the Machado sandwich was weak. The pesto was already lacking flavor but add to that the zucchini and you end up with a soggy, flavorless sandwich.
Service, food, drinks, everything is great here. Doesn’t matter which day you go it’s always the same great experience.
Awesome food from an amazing team. Surf vibe is perfect for New England west "coast"
Groovy place in Vermont to enjoy tasty dishes and an Eclectic indoor or outdoor atmosphere. The size of the crowd admits the corona craziness is a good indication that this place is the bomb.
Unique “beachy”ambiance, making use of its beginnings as a gas station; Good, consistent mostly breakfast food, with a southwest flair. Somewhat limited menu. Try the fish tacos!
A great place to have a bite and meet up with friends. The food was delicious, portions were spot on, the servers were awesome, and the place is warm and welcoming.
This is one of burlington's best breakfast diners. Fresh ingredients and flavors but arent afraid to mix some homemade chorizo in with the veggies!
Love this place for breakfast as they have the closest thing to huevos rancheros that you can get around here. Great service. Lines for breakfast/brunch on the weekends. Worth the wait.
Burrito was full of burnt junk, great presentation but ruined by carelessness of flavor. 1/10 food
Very nice staff, really care about your experience. Food is always fresh and delicious. Very good bloody marys!
Good food, good service. Laid back environment that servers may take their time refilling coffee. Over all a great experience
A little expensive, but I dont mind paying for quality. The spot is delicious, environmentally conscious and one of the coolest aesthetic dining experiences I've been to. Hits all my marks
This is a great spot for a hearty, healthy, fresh, breakfast. I love it because it is close to Burlington and you can park, there is rarely a wait, and the service is excellent.
I had a great fish tacos for breakfast...they made a wonderful mango pico with the tacos, and I enjoyed a home made red salsa...I had a really good time...
Great food. We went at breakfast and it was terrific
Awesome food, great service, and a fun beach/surf inspired environment. Definitely some of the best breakfast food in Burlington, VT.
They wanna be Cali but they can’t be Cali. It’s as close as you’re getting in Vermont and the kind of Mexican ishhhhhh attempt at food is appreciated... but it just ain’t ‘bertos... mostly makes me miss home, but pretty good for the spread in BTV!
OMG, great food, delightful menu, great place to bring visitors to impress them--get there early to beat the locals! Breakfast till 3 pm!
Blueberry coconut pancakes were great and the coffee was nice and strong. Great service too.
This is a great establishment. Very friendly staff, outstanding cocktails, and a very chill roadside location!
So good. Every time. The jerk chicken tacos and Indo Reef Dance we had tonight were delicious. Thank you!
Amazing service!! Even more amazing smoothies and shakes! Love the style and transformation from gas station to restaurant! It's the best "SPOT" ever!!!
Three stars because the service was phenomenal. Food was mediocre. The coffee tasted really watered down, but our waitress was amazing. Would give it another try.
The wait wasn't too bad and the food was excellent! There's no apparent sign out front (at least when I was there) but the building is unique enough to not miss!
The triple crown with egg on a muffin and veggie sausage is delicious. Relaxed atmosphere lets you eat at a pace.
Best fish tacos and chicken wings in town!
The lobster curry soup was amazing!! The place was busy at lunch and sort of loud but it thinks quickly and you can sit outside and relax in the sun .
One of my favorite places to eat around, which is why I'm bummed that they are not open on the weekends anymore. Hopefully this is temporary.
Good, inexpensive meal. Service was just okay and it was very loud. Some might find the curry hot.
Love this place. Fantastic breakfast/ lunch food with friendly service. Been here 3 times now and its always excellent !
It waa so awesome. The food is always prepared with love and you can taste every bite. Thank you
Spot was great today. First time here since COVID hit. Felt very COVID safe, food was fantastic as always.
Good breakfast bites. Has a diner-like feel to it.
Good food and service. They even have a nice but small craft beer selection. I'll be back.
Great "surf" style breakfast and lunch. Never been for dinner but I'm sure it's just as great. Great dark and stormy and bloody mary.
The Spot has one of the best non-traditional breakfasts in Burlington as well as the best coffee around. Love the laid back surfer decor!
Great food. Good value. Cozy place with friendly service. Just brew better coffee please.
Service was a little slow. But they were pretty busy. Food was very good. Drinks were great. A little pricey overall.
Unfortunately,, they do not have the Avacado Fries like their place Spot on the Dock. Still very good..
One of my favorite go to places when I want a simple, relaxed brunch without a long wait. They keep it basic and do it right.
Great atmosphere. Wonderful service. Small, but interesting menu, expertly prepared. Good prices.
Lot more low key than the other Burlington breakfast places and it's quite tasty. I like the atmosphere as well.
Nice to find fresh tuna and Mahi - Mahi on a menu. Very delicious BTW! Awesome coconut milkshake.
Decent food. Strong drinks. Casual atmosphere. Easy to find location. Parking in lot or on street.
Very cool spot! Be a seafood fan and this place with be 'the spot' to go! They do carry other options but their seafood is bomb!
Good food in 10 to 20 a plate range. Really cool decorations in a converted gas station - all surf themed
My husband felt his bagel and cream cheese pricey for what he got. Omelette ok.
A stylish old gas station renovated into a cafe. Menu is imaginative. Service is good.
Best breakfast place in the area! Everytime we're in Vermont, we make a point of going there at least once!
Muffin and fruit bowl were both great! Fruit, in particular, was abundant, fresh, and beautifully presented.
Awesome place. Visited friends and had a great breakfast
Cute place with fun and I unique decor and good food. Staff on the other hand ignored us for most of our visit.
Funky atmosphere, interesting menu. Food very nice.
The spot is a Go To place for me and my grandsons. The menu provided good choices and the staff is always welcoming and helpful.
Love this place! Great food, great relaxed atmosphere, friendly service. This is our go to place in Burlington!
The service was a bit odd and the menu is so unformated anyone with ocd will be properly bothered. but otherwise a nice place
Very nice restaurant if you're lucky enough to get a seat... Don't go in the morning if your goal is to get food in your belly.
This place has great food, and an even better vibe. The staff was also very friendly, and helpful.
Great food, great staff. Maybe a bit noisy, but that is par for the course. Very busy.
One of my favorite breakfast/lunch spots in the Burlington area. I always have a hard time deciding between favorites on what to get.
The Spot is a unique, convenient and intimate dining experience. It's probably the restaurant that my husband and I treat ourselves to the most.
Good people, food was okay
YUMMY!
Quality food.
Great service.
Kid friendly.
Locally owned.
Great food. Lovely breakfast specials. Relaxing atmosphere.
Nice spot for a quick bite. They have a decent range of options, and some pretty good fish tacos.
Great food, reasonable prices, and quick service. What's not to love
A huge selection of breakfast items. Good food and friendly service.
The food is fine not overpriced, but not really amazing either, totally ok.
Phenomenal breakfast food. I'd ask for light pepper on your bloodymary but it was still great.
Good breakfast food and very affordable. Just remember that no laptops or long sitting on the right as you walk in.
Good service, delicious healthier than average meals in a funky surf themed settling.
Great good and atmosphere, especially when it's nice enough to sit outside. Can never go wrong with a Hamilton or Peahi!
The food is prepared very well, presented beautifully, and staff is exceptional!!
Had a fabulous breakfast, super convenient location & staff was very helpful with suggestions
lively busy bustling lunch experience! Enjoyed it and the tacos were good.
Great way to refurbish a gas station into a fabulous restaurant. Great food, ambience and service.
Good food, usually quiet. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere.
Excellent breakfast. Good portions for the money.
Great food, fresh and very tasty...great service! Will be back!!
Love the Spot, great food, great people! Try the Ahi Tuna dish, its delicious!
Hip feel, fish tacos super bland, chicken sandwich very tasty but had to reconstructed to be eaten.
Cool vibes and delicious food (especially that curried beef stew!)
Rad place. Service was a little slow. Very friendly. They brought our apps put with our meal which was a bummer
Food was meh at best. I think its mostly about the atmosphere which as far as I'm concerned is sort of ho hum.
Excellent breakfast, great surfer style atmosphere and fare.
Cali atmosphere in Burlington, VT... great especially when it's snowy and freezing out. great food and service as well!
Fun atmosphere. Great food. Not ideal location.

Worth having a meal here even if you only come for the atmosphere.
Love the fresh menu here.
Good food but service can be spotty depending on how busy it is.
Great burger, friendly staff, good interior
Beef and Pork Tacos were a bit too greasy without a 'wow' taste to back it up.
Quick, attentive, friendly service. Good food.

Love this place!!!!!
Very good breakfast. Pancakes were pretty solid and fluffy. We also ordered smoothie which was pretty good! Probably a good go-to breakfast place. The parking maybe pretty tight as this place is popular almost all the time. The service was a bit slow, but I also went on President's day so there probably was more people than expected.
