We are traveling in Burlington and staying at a nearby hotel, and while searching for spots for a moderately priced dinner, we found this gem. They specialize in fish&chips, like their name suggest, but also have other dishes on the menu. The place is unassuming, and the prices are below $15 for most plates. However, the food was really good! Their fried food was freshly fried, no weird taste on the oil or whatsoever, not over fried nor too little fried. The fish and chips ($11.95) were super delicious and looked great great (check pics) like handcut thick potatoes. The calamari (which was the special of the day, Saturday) for $7.95 came in a bit plate with very tender easy to chew calamari but crispy exterior and some cheese powder on top (I think). We also ordered mushy peas side ($3.95) and a cup of clam chowder ($3.95). It was the only meal we ate that day because we'd been having sweet maple, chocolates, and cookies and ice cream through the day. It was filling and comforting. Service was really nice. As others have mentioned, the woman at the counter is super nice, will check on you, and strives to get you a nice meal.

Came on Thanksgiving Friday. Was difficult to find a place open so we gave this one a try. So glad we did! The food was delicious and the service was great. Will definitely come back again the next time we are in town. Friday special was Cod & Chips for $11.95. You can't beat that at all. Also had the wings and they were huge and very tasty.

THIS!!! PLACE!!! ROCKS!!!! The lady waiting on the customers is a one woman wonder wrecking crew!!! Order the battered haddock and poutine!! I would give TEN STARS if I could. The lady was absolutely cheers, smiles, gregarious, personable, conscientious and courteous of all customers, Fast and efficient...all in one package. I want her to move to Central Ohio so I can enjoy her food more often.

The seafood was all obviously fresh! Nothing was frozen or had that weird chewy, soggy texture frozen seafood has. Lightly battered, very crispy and delightfully tender! We got the house special. 10 out of 10 recommend! The calamari appetizer is my new obsession! Crisp. Tender. Seasoned well! Went excellently with the ranch or marinara! I encourage everyone to try this place! So good! Was exactly what I was craving!

We took our one year old here because it's close by and who doesn't love fish & chips? All of the food was great! Our little one LOVED the mushy peas (as did I) and the fish tacos were great. Service was quick and super friendly!

I don't leave reviews often but this place deserves one. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is basic but clean, the service is fast and friendly. The staff is friendly and attentive. Honestly some of the best seafood I've had in new England. If you haven't been here you're missing out.

Fish and chip is so amazing! I really appreciate the lady working on Saturday. I picked up the food and tried to leave the place. I realized my car battery died in 3 F/-16C weather. I hesitated to ask whether I can stay until the roadside assistance arrives. I came back to the restaurant and asked the question I hesitated. She was very welcomed me and let me eat food in the restaurant. I stayed more than one hour (almost closing time). I could't imagine how I could survive this freezing cold weather if she didn't show an act of kindness. I will definitely come back to support this restaurant's business!

- The haddock was perfect: golden, crunchy batter on the outside and tender, flaky fish on the inside. Would highly recommend the spicy tartar sauce. It's not really spicy but it is really good. - The chips were great: crunchy on the outside and hot and fluffy on the inside and perfectly seasoned with a packet of malt vinegar. - The slaw was crisp and a perfect accompaniment to the fish. - While I didn't go inside, my partner said the service was excellent and the staff was very friendly. - The crispiness held up really well on the 20 minute drive home. - The portions are quite large. - Pairs well with a Green State Lager and some sea shanties.

We got takeout from Uber eats, we both have the chicken souvlaki on pita with fries. It was seriously some on the best food I’ve had in the area in a while. The chicken was so moist and seasoned so well. The tzatziki sauce was also really flavorful everything just worked so well together. The fries were nice and thick cut. My mom is British and really missed good fish and chips with mushy peas. The Fish and Chip nails it. Pick your fish (halibut, haddock, or cod) and enjoy. Curry sauce is available for the chips. The $12.95 lunch special.is awesome. Haddock, chips/fries, coleslaw, soup or salad, and soft drink. Bummed that the soda machine isn't set up for soda water but the rest was fantastic.

Hole in the wall kind of place, but boy was their food good! We had the clam strips, fried shrimps, fries, and onion rings. Everything was fresh out of the grease 🙂, crispy, crunchy with flavors. I would highly recommend their spicy tartar sauce. So good! They also have a ranch-like sauce that has a hint of parmesan to it. Paired well with the onion rings (which already tasted good by themselves). Not that many people were there when we dined I , so our orders came fast. Will definitely be back.

Best fish n chips I’ve ever had. Highly recommend the cod! Their clam chowder is also very good and creamy. The fries are so good and thick cut. Plus when you eat in, you get a whole bottle of tartar sauce for your table as well as a spicy version! The server (and owner) that work there (can’t remember her name) are both so friendly and sweet. I go every Friday for their cod n chips special. Highly recommend!!

Run, don't walk to The Fish & Chip in South Burlington! My husband and I got the Family 2-Pack of Fish & Chips with Haddock and it came to just $19.75 including tax (before tip)! Not only was the food incredible, but the service was quick and friendly. Just when we thought it couldn't get better, they offered us SPICY tartar sauce 😍🐟🍟 We will definitely be back again!

I absolutely love the Fish and Chip. The ladies there are always super sweet and the food is fantastic and I always tell them how good it is. I just ordered some fries and chicken strips and they sent me a cinnamon raisin rice pudding extra and it was fantastic. Love this restaurant and the staff. I've had the fried shrimp, fried cod, fried mushrooms, and onion rings, which are all very good, but my favorite is the haddock and chips dinner. Generous portions! Light beer-batter style fried fish, and lightly crispy fries. Bottles of tartar sauce, spicy tartar sauce, malt vinegar and ketchup on the table let you try different flavor combos. The owner/hostess/server is a sweetheart... a lovely person. They also offer some Greek dishes like Gyros, chicken souvlaki, Greek salad, baklava. The food is always wonderful, and the owner is always friendly. Going there is a treat.

Holy cow, this place is amazing!! We are new to the area so are trying out a lot of restaurants and wow, Fish & Chip is a showstopper. We ordered the calamari, fried cod, fried haddock, chips, fried shrimp, and fried scallops and all were perfect. The tartar and spicy tartar sauces are to DIE for. Editing to add: just ate the coleslaw and am amazed. It is sweet, creamy, and tangy. I love it—a huge surprise to myself who normally dislikes coleslaw! 100% will reccomend. I'll also add that we ordered to go, and we ended up meeting the owner on our visit and they were so so dang friendly!! Excellent food and out of this world service. This is definitely a return-to place for us, and anyone visiting us will of course get this delish treat!!!

Very great experience here! Best fish and chips in the region. The person working the front and taking orders was very friendly and helpful. The fish is excellent, the cod was nice and thick filets, the haddock was perfect and I thought was the best fish to batter ratio of those two options. The fish is perfectly cooked, batter is crunchy and the filet is nice and firm yet very flaky and tender. The fries were a thicker cut, but very good, nice crunch on outside with tender interior. They have a regular tartar sauce as well as a spicy tartar sauce, both were good. They also have individual packets of malt vinegar. It wasn't very busy inside so we ended up just eating there because fried food is best right out the fryer!

I've only had the Haddock but the Sunday special and crispiness of the fish is fantastic. Large fries and the sides they offer are perfect for fans of fish&chips. Cleaned up, and still delicious!

Our fish and chips were delicious! I am gluten free and they even had a gluten free option. The gluten free batter was so light and crispy. They were also so friendly! Don't forget to try the spicy tarter sauce.

Excellent, friendly service and great food! The fish, scallops, and shrimp are perfectly battered and fried, and the Greek salad is great as well. Most importantly, the owner is an absolute delight. We look forward to dining there often!

Been here multiple times. Tried the haddock twice, shrimp once, and halibut once. Of the three, the haddock is the best imo,but I still really enjoyed them all. The fries are exactly what you expect at a fish and chips shop. The homemade rice pudding is AMAZING. Perfect texture, flavor, temperature, and toppings. The service every time I've been has been second to none. Each time the person (same person each visit, sadly I don't know her name) has gone above and beyond to make sure I know what I'm getting. A small mistake was made in my last order, but she fixed it without me asking, and she told me before she handed me the box. Absolute integrity, above standard customer service, and great flavors produce repeat customers, and I will be back.

I don't know how I missed this place before. Best seafood I had in Vermont in a long time. The rice pudding is delicious. We had the cod and haddock the breading is so light a fried to perfection and the fresh cut fries and sweet potato fries were the best I had in a long time. Also try the spicy tartar sauce, it's delicious. Your in for a treat.

One of the best restaurant experiences in my life! The food and the service were simply amazing! My mother is from Liverpool, England where there is a Chippy on every block, she is also a chef. She thought it was very close to fish and chips back home, and they acutally had proper mushy peas! I've visited England a bunch and I feel as if its the best fish and chips I've ever had this side of the pond! The service was just as good as the amazing food! She was just so friendly, and had a very warming smile, we felt very welcomed. It's absolutely amazing we have this gem in Burlingon! I'm so mad that I've lived here for 5 years and am just now finding out about this place! Make sure to check them out, you'll be very happy you did!

Really nice restaurant. Big portions of great food from very nice, friendly people. Check out the day of the week and the daily specials. The lunch fish and chip special is a real price performer! My wife and I started with fried mushrooms appetizer (a meal in itself) and then split an order of fish and chips. We were both stuffed and happy. It's a bit hard to spot back in the parking lot. Well worth the effort. Highly recommend!

Interesting spot. I've been here 3 times now and the service is very good. Also, not many patrons so the server(s) have more time fo chat or tend to your needs. It's a small restaurant, so not being packed with customers is a plus in my opinion.. The first time I sampled all 3 types of fish (Cod, Haddock, and Halibut) - all 3 were obviously pre-breaded, frozen and then heated in a deep fryer. The coleslaw was not good in my opinion.. Last two times I've ordered the Burger. This is a very good burger for the price, bun was toasted, and the house sauce is very good.. Personally I enjoy ranch to dip my french fries, and their ranch is very disgusting. It's the consistency of watery milk with no taste.. Overall - if you enjoy fried food for a decent price and not big crowds - this is great. I would highly recommend their burgers over anything else.

Okay, not fancy. The decor is simple, the location is easy to miss. But the FISH was really good, three different types (haddock, cod or halibut), and it was really good. By the way, my wife loved the coleslaw. Go enjoy some fish.

My neighbor and I went to The Fish and Chip for the first time... Claire is a wonderful, sweet and kind person.. her personality just lights up the room! Thank you Claire for being so kind, to a couple of little old ladies :) The food here was sooooo delish... Yall it is so worth stopping... we got ours for take out... Found by accident and glad I did. The scallops are to die for as is everything else I've had. The breading is light and deliscious, no overpowering coating, The shrimp, fish, fries, onion rings and homemade fresh cole slaw are incredible. This place is tucked in the back of a building so you cant really see it from the street. Its cozy and inviting. The fish here is delicious, perfect combo of crispy and flaky. I had tried tge rice pudding on someone elses suggestion. He said the homeade rice pudding should be called Claire's homeade rice pudding, its so delightful. I will be comming here again and trying out many more things on the menu.

Everything was absolutely incredible. We had the cod and haddock meals, which were delicious. The sauces were the perfect complement, as was the coleslaw. The rice pudding was so good, I’ll be grabbing more to bring home!!!
