Reviews of The Café HOT.
Carleena Lara Bregatta
The cafe hot. Was a spiritual experience. Highly recommend the coffee + coke as well as whatever bonuts they have that day. The biscuits are 🔥 and I love them with the maple Chile jam. Staff is also on point and super friendly. Go. Now.
Noah Gootkind
Everything is scratch made, the owners are so friendly and amazing. I am convinced that there isnt an item on the menu that isnt delicious (and ive had them all). Easily the best egg sandwiches ive ever had!
Valeri Schwartz
The Cafe HOT. is absolutely phenomenal, and is a must-visit when in Burlington. We visited this past weekend while on vacation in Vermont and have been daydreaming about the Bonuts, the Raven, and the breakfast sandwiches ever since… Everything we ate there was drool-worthy and beyond delicious! We can’t wait to come back the next time we are in town. 10/10 would recommend!

Had the chance to dine-in after picking up and trying the bonuts and sandwiches as takeout. First, Travis and Allan did an amazing renovation of the former Mirabelle’s space with plenty of seating and cheeky (and at the same time classy) decor. Second, the food is rich with flavor and made from scratquality. The brakefast sandwich is so good, servemilk bun with harissa sauce and adding the impossible sausage is great too. I like how they incorporate cheese into the scrambled egg and let it melt to create a yummy comforting flavor. You miss meat with these savory sandwiches.
The bonut flavors are fun. The chocolate glazed is a reminder of a classic donut flavor and the espresso glazed balances the sweet with a dust of caffeine.
A friendly atmosphere and happy to have a spot in the Queen City to get coffee and a good sandwich.

Omg, the most amazing egg sandwiches, wraps, yummy food. And the bestest is the GBC aka Gooey butter cake (straight from St Louis) and the Bonuts. Everything is delicious
And the service is so friendly and warm
Here’s a tip…… order ahead of time with the app. And your delicious food will be ready when you get there
But waiting on line is a fun option too and you meet wonderful people online while waiting ☺️
Morgan Holland
Holy cow are you kidding me, the world's best breakfast Sammy is all of a sudden in Burlington, just like that?! Epic, slightly crispy biscuit, fluffy eggs, and epically savory salsa matcha, take me now.
Terry King
Not to be dramatic but their donuts are some of the best I’ve ever ever had anywhere. I got the espresso glazed one and then came back later to get more to bring on my train trip back to NYC. Absolutely killer

I hit this place a couple of times during my trip to Vermont. Staff was very friendly and patient, even when a line started building up. The interior design sense was classic diner but make it edgy. Sandwiches were good, donuts were great. And I don't even like donuts. Everything looked super clean and run efficiently.
I thought the fried chicken egg was a really cool concept, and tasty at that. It was a bit too heavy on the number 8 sandwich, and was greatly improved with tartar sauce and the bun instead of the biscuit.
FM Muñoz
Don’t miss these amazing breakfast sandwiches on the most delicious homemade milk buns and biscuits - soft, silky eggs are rolled into crispy griddled cheese - add avocado to get your veg on. And you cannot miss the bonuts - crispy, chewy magical biscuit doughnuts glazed to perfection. 10/10 recommend for all your breakfast brunch and lunch cravings.

Food and staff are absolutely amazing. The not bing might be the best breakfast I’ve ever had. We tried the rice mochi too, which was not too sweet and the perfect texture.
Jason Merone
OMG, what an amazing discovery for us! Their breakfast sandwich was the highlight of my trip, super delicious. Great food. Staff is super friendly. Strong recommend, will make sure to revisit when I go back. I'd be a regular here if I lived in the city.
Jay Hahs
Ever have one of those moments in your life - a great memory - and you wonder "Did that really happen or am I just dreaming it up?" That is their egg sandwich. How they have made egg and bread that level of memorable, I don't understand. Pure magic happening in Burlington, VT. We can't wait to visit again!
Annie D
The BEST biscuits ever! Crispy on the outside, flaky and soft on the inside. A perfect breakfast sandwich: BEST biscuit, egg with melted cheese, avocado. YUM! Friendly staff, eclectic decor (check out the metal "table"...)
Scott “Grnmntvt”
Most unique breakfast sandwich I have ever had. I have tried every breakfast sandwich on their menu at this point, and love them all. The do a good job , fast friendly service.
Dawson
Amazing vegetarian/vegan options! Got the Basterd Bing prepared vegan (-egg +avo) such a unique and tasty sandwich, basically like an Asian crunch wrap supreme. Also got the vegan chocolate donut which was an absolute treat for the taste buds. Really cool that they don’t serve any meat here too.
Alex Mac
Cafe HOT has no meat and too much flavor. When you go, try the bonuts, chicken fried egg, and anything with a biscuit. If you're reading this, you should have eaten here by now. If you've been, you already know so go tell your best friends, specifically the one you were going to text the other day but forgot.
Jasna Acharya
Creative breakfast sandwiches and delicious biscuit donut hybrids!
Jeff Smith
I was excited after reading all the reviews, but for me, this wasn't it. Had the #9 chicken fried egg on biscuit sandwich. The biscuits were quite good, the chicken fried egg was just like chicken fried steak.
The espresso bonut was dry and tasteless to me.
The gbc was buttery and quite good, but nothing very unique, reminded me of a lemon bar without lemon.
The sesame mochi was unique and had a notable sesame flavor and mochi style chew. Good, not great.
Ian Doerner
Amazing food and beverages. The menu is highly creative and insanely good. The two brothers who own/run this place rule and the passion is palpable. The staff is so nice its silly. Every time i'm in it feels like i've returned home. Please don't miss them! highly recommended
Mark Freel
Undoubtedly the best breakfast sandwich ever. Get the avocado and impossible sausage add ins.
Shelly Koster
I had a great time visiting Burlington last week! Best food I had was at The Cafe Hot!! Wish I had #8 right now! Great staff too!
John Jose
Fresh HOT breakfast burgers.. friendly & welcoming staff..

It’s been 4 days since I had breakfast from here, and it’s still all I can think about. I’m literally haunted by how good the food was. The chicken fried egg thing is mind blowing.

We were told to check out The Cafe Hot on our visit to Burlington, and we really couldn’t have picked a better first stop. We met Travis at the window, and he was super friendly and welcoming. He walked us through the menu, and we decided on their signature breakfast sandwich and some bonuts. The bonuts are really a holy matrimony between donuts and biscuits.. I think we fell in love. The creamsicle chocolate chip, espresso glaze, and mint chocolate chip were all great. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Burlington that they at least make a stop for bonuts!
alice patania
The best breakfast breakfast/place/staff. It is a joy to come back. The sandwiches are unique and a must try at least once in your life. What they can do with eggs will blow your socks off, and those home made sauces… Oh my! Pair everything with a Brio coffee and you are good to go to enjoy the day.
Nell Dosker
The breakfast sandwich was great, but the latte was tiny and definitely not worth $6. No signage indicating drink sizes that I saw, so they're basically relying on people not asking about sizes and trusting them to serve a decent size for the price. Not cool.
Kayla Williford
What a fabulous addition to Burlington. We have not been disappointed with any of the sandwiches we have tried and of course the Bonuts are terrific. Also glad to see HOT focused on the environment and have a non-meat menu.
The workers/owners are super friendly. They make you feel special and a 'local' even if it's your first time there. 10/10 recommend.
Cherie Cyr
100% Totally recommend Cafe Hot! We ordered the #9 with Spice and it was the most amazing breakfast sandwich we have ever had! 😊 Mind-blowing! The staff is so friendly and welcoming. Looking forward to our next visit!
Pooja Patel
Loved it here this morning. Don’t think twice. Just come in and you won’t be disappointed.
Julia S
So many meatless options. All of the staff was very friendly.
Matt Kobzik
Where do I start with this place? The food here has blown me away. Such unique tastes and flavors in every option I've had. Love their sammies (Basterd Bing + Brakefast Sandwich) donuts (any flavor). Great coffee. Super nice staff.
Highly, highly recommend!
Joseph Wills
I really like Cafe HOT. It has very unique vegetarian options -- not all of which I love, but that just speaks to the diversity. My one complaint about food is that the single time I tried the coffee it was burnt, but it could have been an off day.
I have a few more quibbles; as you read these keep in mind I have some experience working with people with disabilities, if something seems like a worthlessly small complaint (I don't mean to be overly critical). The menu is hard to parse. Its layout is fine, but it's a black on tan readerboard style sign, with small text, misspelled words, and backwards letters. It'll make anyone with less than stellar eyesight squint, but for a dyslexic, or someone whose developmental delay keeps them from reading as easily as other people, it's a nightmare. As far as I recall there isn't a plain text menu posted or available in the store -- if there is it isn't very prominent. That would be a useful inclusion.
The bathroom features embossed red labels for various features, including where to dispose of feminine hygiene products. This would be mostly fine if the lighting fixture in the bathroom wasn't red, making the text on the labels hard to read. Again, a relatively small molehill in the grand scheme of things.
Cafe HOT is a progressive restaurant in a progressive city, and I'd love to see them go just a little further and make it just a little easier for the large disabled community in Burlington and the rest of Vermont come to visit.
Again, I really like my meals at Cafe HOT -- I recommend any of their biscuit sandwiches with a beet lemonade, and perhaps a bonut for dessert.
Eric LaMontagne
Fresh, creative, and fantastic. Their breakfast sandwichs have awesome and fun flavors, and the biscuits...wow. Perfect outside crunch and inside fluff.
Andrew Wild
Cafe Hot is jaw-droppingly delicious!!! It is a must visit. I have had almost everything on their menu (DIY breakfast sandwiches, bing, secret biscuit sandwich, the "chicken," breakfast sammy, bonuts, mochi, etc.) and it is all DELICIOUS. The biscuits have the perfect combination of flaky and soft, the sauces are flavorful and as spicy as you want, and the eggs are fluffy but also customizable if you prefer a different style. The sweets will also blow your mind. The food is filling, which I love as a big eater, and the Raven is a great option if you want to go lighter.
I am a teacher in a Vermont public school and my colleagues and I have a Friday tradition of getting Cafe Hot! - it is the BEST way to end the week! The many people who I have suggested check this place out have loved it, as have visitors. Recently, some foodie friends from the SF Bay Area who are living in Philadelphia said it is the best food they have had on the East Coast.
Beyond the food, the owners, Travis and Alan are super good guys and the place exudes good vibes. They have done a lot of the work on the place themselves and are into sustainability (on track for a green restaurant certification, veggie-based meat, repurposed mirrors, etc. :)).
Cafe Hot is a gem and we are so lucky to have it in Burlington!!
Emily Torsney
I cannot rave about this place enough!! Not only is the food NEXT LEVEL but the people and the atmosphere are phenomenal. One of the owners greeted us so kindly when we entered and was generous and welcoming. Don’t forget to grab yourself a Sesame Crème on the way out! Trust me, you won’t regret it!! Everything is unique and the employees are great people. Make sure to make time to stop at The Cafe Hot!
Erica Rome
Cafe HOT is amazing and delicious! We had a chance to try everything on the menu and it was truly all unique, flavorful and so, so tasty. The egg sandwich with the crispy cheese and soft homemade milkbun was a real standout as was the espresso bonut. The owners are wonderful and the whole place has a great vibe. This is a must stop place for breakfast if you’re in Burlington!
Sidarth Dasari
Fantastic breakfast sandwiches that both look and taste great. The house made hot sauce is a little smokey and adds a great flavor. Really unique biscuit/donut hybrids. The espresso one was quite good. Looking forward to coming back!
Z C
One of Burlington's best restaurants hands down. Vegetarians, don't be fooled by the looks of the sandwiches, everything is made from eggs and plants! I had no idea you could chicken fry an egg and now my life is forever improved
Katie Figura
The food is awesome. I can't give more than 3 stars to a restaurant that only uses single-use, disposable products. It's sad to see this trend, which gained traction during Covid, now become normalized.
Even if they are actually taking all of their stuff to an industrial composting facility, I don't see how this would be less wasteful than having dishes. Not to mention eating a meal out of boxes, and finishing your meal with a table covered in the waste and garbage created from one meal is just a terrible vibe. If I go back, Ill bring my own plates and dining ware.
Yes - I get dishwashing is expensive - and right now its cheaper in many aspects of society to create trash and waste than do things that will create a sustainable future. We don't have to pay directly for the garbage we are creating. However, there is still a price.
Eating is a sacred. Food is nourishment. I want to eat off of a plate. I hate to be blunt, or make a pun, but besides feeling spiritually void, it's just straight up trashy.
Phil Smithback
The food and coffee are pretty good, albeit at a fairly high price. But stay away if you don't like eggs: the avocado tostada is small and agressively flavored with both mayo and spicy oil, which winds up coming off rather greasy. As for the biscuit, it's good, but the chili maple jam is maple jam with chili crisp, so winds up being a little too earthy and sweet without much spicy punch or pepper flavor. I'm only really giving it four stars because everyone else was very happy with the breakfast sandwich.
Kelsey Brandin
Good food, poor service, way overpriced.
Ordered 4 bonuts and two egg sandwiches later in the day when there was no line and no other orders.... Waited 45 minutes, and received a smushed sandwich and 2 of the 4 bonuts we ordered. Super disappointed as I was really excited to try this place after the stellar reviews and recommendations of friends. Unfortunately overpaying for a haphazardly assembled, 45-minute wait egg sandwich and $8 of missing bonuts is not something I'm particularly excited to experience again in the near future.
Hopefully this is an isolated incident, but at the prices they're charging, I have a tough time not feeling a bit ripped off...
Still great flavors though, it's not like the food was bad! And I'm always in support of places doing as much in-house as possible, even if it commands a higher price as a result. So I'd still recommend giving these guys a shot, but maybe dine-in instead.
Jason Fritz
I love a spicy breakfast sandwich, and the so-named option with harissa was full of egg and fantastically savory and chewy. Add an impossible meat patty for a bit of extra umami.
T. D.
Loved the sandwiches and their music selection. I recommend adding Atomic Rooster, early Deep Purple and maybe some Spooky Tooth to the eclectic music collection.
Kyacos
Wow! Go eat here. I’ve been passing this place by because of the sign (a bit um, what?), but 7 Days article got me to stop. Best breakfast sandwich on the planet, perhaps. Definitely the best In VT, and I’ve probably tried them all. I can’t even find the words to describe how perfect this egg and cheese (and whatever other magic is in there) sandwich is. (I had mine with their hot sauce.)
This is not like anything you’ve tried; it will stop you in your tracks (I was standing outside in zero degrees) so you can focus and say, out loud: Wow!!
Matt Poquette
Sooo HOT and I loved every minute of it. BBQ chip dust Bonut was crazy good. Do yourself a solid and try this place!
Aubri Drake
Delicious sandwiches that were not effected by the takeout process! And it was easy to order online, rather than wait in line to order
Caitlin Culp
We were visiting from out of town and this place and their biscuits did NOT disappoint. It was our favorite meal in Burlington!
Lindsey Pekurny
Delicious! Highly recommend the avocado tostada as a sandwich. Amazing flavors, both my partner and I enjoyed our orders! Lattes are great too! We also enjoyed the ‘snow day’ bonut.
Alexander Kaufman (xanderjman)
This place is the best. The fried chicken sandwich is actually made with a fried egg and is possibly the tastiest sandwich to ever grace my tastebuds. The cafe's vibes are immaculate and the service staff is exceptionally genuine and kind. Would recommend 10/10
Kyle Nenninger
These people are demented. Easily the most interesting food I've had in a while. #1 spot I make a point to take friends when they visit.
George
There’s not enough good things to say about this place. I was a little skeptical at first because it’s tough to judge places that get hyped up so immediately after opening. They absolutely lived up to it and are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Really big fan of the place and the people.
Asa Levi
Simply the best. They pack so much flavor into each sandwich - gotta try them all!
Bo Jiang
The breakfast sandwich is delicious, I am not necessarily a coffee person, they, however, adopt 100% compostable coffee cup, so here's 5-star.
Mackenzie Faber
Thank god someone finally thought to put crispy cheese on a breakfast sandwich and make doughnuts out of biscuits and turn this spot into something so perfect. They’re the freaking best. And also the loveliest humans around.
Sequoia Young
Excellent vibes, amazing baked goods, the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had (get the hot sauce!). Staff is fun, I always enjoy going here.
Jennefer Dawn
Got bonuts for the office, they were a hit. The espresso one was my favorite- we cut into several so we could try each flavor. Very filling! The guys were very friendly, will be returning to try a sandwich. Yes, a little pricy, but totally worth it!
Andre Keiser
Most creative and most delicious breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had!
Kevin
Absolutely the best breakfast sandwich. I was blown away. Highly recommend with the hot sauce! Staff is exceptionally friendly. I even witnessed the staff give one of their bonuts to a small child, on the house. Made everyone smile!
Joey
Really awesome staff, the food is hella good (can you say biscuit donut? They can, don’t sleep on them). Breakfast sandwiches were delicious. Get the HOT sauce on everything. So happy this new place is here.
Leah Wilson
Cafe Hot was absolutely so freaking good! I got a breakfast sandwich and my girlfriend got an espresso glazed bonut and we both said "oh my godddd" when we took our first bites
Cannot recommend this place more highly! Super duper friendly staff too!
Ben Hemingway
Best breakfast sandwich in Vermont! Great friendly service.
Julia Nugent
Really delicious and unique breakfast sammies. The staff were very nice and patient explaining the menu as well. A little expensive but worth the price.
Will Chu
The “Breakfast Sandwich” topped with hot sauce and Impossible sausage is one of the best breakfast sandwiches ever I had! Great job! Will return.
A M
The breakfast sandwich, whew, you just need to try it. Excellent combination of flavors and textures. The griddled cheese is incredible, highly recommend.
Paulo
Good brunch place. Did not have seating for our group when we went there so we got take out. Food is good within its genre but fairly unhealthy.
Brittany A. Mosher
I had the secret breakfast biscuit and have been thinking about it all week. It was amazing! Check this place out and definitely get the house hot sauce.
M M
I’ll echo what others have said: the breakfast sandwiches are among the best I’ve had. Highly recommend.
Adam Locklin
A breakfast sandwich that will change your life.
Richard Turcott
Stumbled upon this place while visit Burlington. I would say that this is a “must visit” place for coffee and unique biscuit breakfast sandwiches. Fun, gritty (in a good way), and tasty.
Jack Qualey
Don’t miss this place. Everything on the menu is amazing and they’ve got the best crazy hot sauce in town. Definitely try out the murder sauce if you want some incredible flavor that’ll melt your face!
Ben
It’s so delicious, you’ll happily buy bigger pants to eat there daily. On that note, you guys may want to start selling stretchy pants.
CJ Dicuozzo
Quite possibly the best biscuit I've had in my life from some of the nicest people ever
Isaac S
i ate the breakfast sandwich, a couple doughnuts, and the gbc. all were delicious, and the egg on the sandwich had great texture.
Susan Rutherford
The brake fast sandwich is the most incredible breakfast Sammie I’ve ever eaten and I don’t even like eggs! Spicy, full of umami and the frizzled cheese is crispy and chewy. And the bread! Coffee was good too.
Dmitri Repnikov
Def one of the best brekkie sammies in town (there isn’t much competition) and great coffee to go with it. However, $20 for those two after trip is kinda nutty.
Collette Arnold
The story of two brothers from Queens coming to Burlington to open a cafe is great! They are SO nice and great conversationalist, very knowledgeable, and talented. I was blown away by the coffee and the ‘bonuts’: a cross between a biscuit and a donut. The Chocolate Guaillo was my fav. Spicy chocolate jam. All of them were great! Very unique flavors. Must go!
Jordan Potvin
Wow. The sauce is next level. Loved the biscuit.
Katie Macuga
Such nice staff, crushed it during a busy time, food was unreal.... even down to the house made got sauce. Cannot wait to try everything especially the boughnuts!!

The Nicholas Sage donut was the best donut I have ever had and that includes when I visited Paris and Montréal. Please keep it around

Mega!

Mega! Most exceptional breakfast we've had on our New England trip so far, although it took us a while to choose one at first. But the dude behind the counter gave us excellent advice and was very patient. What is special are the homemade buns (bisquits) and the composition of the ingredients. Very tasty everything! And everything vegetarian. Donuts also very tasty. Definitely try it when in Burlington!
