Reviews of Shanty On The Shore
What a cool experience!!
Shanty on the Shore is located next to the water, with a beautiful view on the water. The service was great and quick and the food was delicious.
We ordered the Lobster bisque in the Bread bowl, the Seafood platter with mac and cheese and the fish tacos. Everything was savoury and fresh, they truly know how to do seafood!!! The whole decor is sea related which makes for a fun evening.
Had excellent food and a good price.
Staff is friendly and courteous.
Lots of seafood to choose from to eat.
The lunch specials are great.
If you get a chance to stop in and you are looking for a great view of Lake Champlain and we'll made seafood, stop in.
As always if you enjoyed my review, hit the "Like" button.
Thank you.
Had the famous, and delicious, fish and chips. Delighted to have curly fries! Also had the lobster bisque, yummy. Drank the thirst quenching ice tea.
Loved the nautical atmosphere. Staff were friendly and professional.
Didn't need to eat dinner, stomach was full all day! A definite recommendation.
Very kind and caring staff. Delicious meal. Nice view, good vibes, unique decorations! Recommend it to all seafood lovers. I loved the clam chowder. The broiled haddock was very satisfying!
Pretty good food, clam chowder was very good. Got my order wrong, so waited a little extra...not a big deal, but would have been nice to have it correct.
Prices are a little high, but all resturants are that way now.
Nice seating and very clean... just not my favorite
Food and atmosphere for a seafood shanty with a view of the lake was spot on. The service was fantastic, and I got several sightseeing recommendations. I tried the clam chowder and fish tacos. Both were delicious.
The food is okay. I had very high hopes given the great reviews, but was disappointed. The service was great though! The only item I enjoyed was the fried calamari.
The staff was welcoming and the food was excellent. The sunset views were fabulous! We were not rushed and were able to truly enjoy our dinner. I'll be back!
One of the only places to get full lobster, oysters, clam chowder, lobster bisque; seaside foods, not from grocery or picked up from market, in Burlington. Seafood is fresh and good. Specials and drinks can be hit or miss. The patio at sunset with house white and lobster is great. Try it.
Great place! Friendly and helpful staff. The kitchen handled some special requests really well. Everything was amazing, but we couldn't get enough of the bloody Marys.
It was a nice atmosphere, very friendly staff, clean, beautiful views from inside of the lake on the main level and upstairs as well as the large open wrap around outdoor deck to enjoy fresh air and lake breezes. We enjoyed our meals, fried platter and broiled platter of an array of seafood/shell fish combos. Surprising not greatly seasoned, considering it was seafood it needed more salt. We would try them again sometime. Very busy and very popular place. Give them a try.
Came here on a suggestion! It was a good thing that I did ! Food was delicious service was quick staff friendly and helpful no complaints! Prices are reasonable! View from 2nd floor looking at the lake outstanding! Parking after 5 not bad!
This place was delightful! We ordered the fish and chips, lobster roll and clam strips. The fries are simple and delicious, the fish was panko crusted, the lobster roll was the best we've ever had, the clam strips were tasty, and the coleslaw was delicious. The view was spectacular as well. Prices were mostly $17-$30.
Great shoreline locations...good food. One place that will make you remember Burlington Vermont! Went for a birthday originally and went back for lunch. The outdoor seating gives EXCELLENT views of Lake Champlain, especially at sunset!
Very nice restaurant, excellent broiled seafood platter and the best Lobster Bisque!
Absolutely amazing food and service. Beautiful view from the porch. Chowder 10 out of 10. You won't be disappointed
I originally was going to skip this place. 😅 I'm so glad we didn't because oh my goodness it was DELICIOUS!!
My fiancé got fish + chips -- so, so good and the house tartar sauce had a really good kick. I got shrimp scampi -- good sized portion, wonderful sauce, beautifully plated. Both entrees served with coleslaw, and here's the thing, I'm not the biggest coleslaw fan; usually it is just mayo-soggy cabbage. But this coleslaw was GOOD! Wasn't soggy, had the right bite to it, perfect little side to the meal.
And lastly, our server was great. Cheerful, had an answer to all my questions, wore a mask properly...
All in all, great experience!
Leaving an out of state, not even from New England opinion here, but their lobster bisque was really good. Could've use a tiny bit more sherry but it was so good. I've been thinking about it all week. Great view of the lake and the staff were very accommodating. I got the maple salmon because well, when in Vermont... It was good though!
I came by for an impromptu lunch for one and was delighted by the welcoming atmosphere and seating areas. This restaurant gives a great view of the lake and has ample parking behind the building.
Prices were reasonable for the meal and my server Emily was fantastic.
I would definitely recommend.
Location, location, location. We like a water view while we dine so we picked this place, but I don’t think I would return. The food was underwhelming, as was the service. We would dine at one of the dozens of other Burlington restaurants and take a walk along the promenade after dinner.
Great view of Lake Champlain. Service was quick. Food was mediocre especially for the price. I had the Maple Ginger Salmon that was at least cooked well but lacked flavor. The clam chowder came out hot but was very thick and also lacking in flavor. The Lakeside lemonade was watered down with barely any vodka. I had this on my list of restaurants to try for a while and it was an expensive disappointment.
I didnt eat there, just browsed the liquor store and took in the view. Great spot to watch the sunset, and relax outside with folks.
Great views of Lake Champlain. Would never expect to get such good seafood in Northern Vermont by a fresh water lake, but SURPRISE! Their chowder is unbelievably great! Definitely a place you must try!
First the good, the Lobster Bisque was rather good and the staff was very nice. My main course was the
Broiled Seafood Platter, $29, and it was not worth it. Two average size shrimp but was advertised “Jumbo” and far from it, three Sea Scallops and Haddock. Did not taste broiled but baked also not flavorful at all, my old Norwegian mother in-law would’ve applied the entire salt shaker.
I did comment to staff I was disappointed and they were very nice and wanted to ensure I had a good experience.
Came here for dinner golden hour and the view was stunning 😍 the food was sooo delicious although the calamari was very soggy. Definitely a must visit when you're around the area.
The food was just ok. Clam chowder was not as flavorful as I was expecting based on other reviews. Our platter (fried clam, fish and shrimp) was similarly lacking in flavor. The service was excellent-efficient and friendly.
Great place right on the water. Clam chowder was amazing. Had a nut and gluten allergy kid with us. Handled allergies very well. Would definitely go back there.
Love the view of the Lake at sunset. Food is yummy too AND they have an amazing waitstaff!
Stopped in for lunch. The views are great and service and atmosphere were good. The food, however, was a little bland I was a bit disappointed. Over all I would maybe come back to give it another try
The view upstairs overlooking the waterfront is breathtaking could have stayed there longer. The waiter was personable. Bake potato was well done, but the cod or haddock was greasy, less white fish with extra coated bread batter made the meal experience disappointed. Go for the drinks & the views, of course.... My friends enjoy the variety of drinks sample.
Food was good, the staff and service is superb. Very helpful and friendly. It cannot be easy working during COVID-19, but you guys are right on point, with a smile and a great attitude. P.S. we found Walgreens, no problem. :)
The mac and cheese was good!
Great view of the River. Tight, but cozy seating. We enjoyed a pleasant dinner. The lobster bisque was my favorite. Very tasty and lumps of lobster meat. Great choice for dinner.
We love the fried shrimp and scallops! Always fresh tasting with a light crispy batter. Their coleslaw is uniquely seasoned and the hard rolls are perfect. We've been eating here for years and have never been disappointed in either the food or the service.
Went in for the view of the lake at sunset. We were definitely not disappointed!
Not only is the food great, I got the seafood platter, but the drinks are really tasty and the view is just incredible. We will definitely be coming back when we’re in Burlington!
The food was good. Even though the wait was a bit long as our party sat outside and looked inside to see many tables free, we were eventually seated. The waitress was nice and the food was pretty quick. I would go back to have the maple ginger salmon.
Beautiful view of the lake. Nice service. The scallops were delicious, but the prices were pretty steep for what was served.
Lunch with my daughter. We had fresh oysters, cups of clam chowder, Caesar salad, and dessert. Everything was fresh and delicious. Clam chowder was particularly fabulous. Very friendly staff, free parking, sit in or out and great view of the lake and mountains. Loved it, we will be back.
Great views. Mussels, bloody Mary and oysters were great! Calamariand clam chowder, not so much.
Delicious! We had the mussels, maple salmon, lobster roll, strawberry basil mule, and bahama mama! We were happy with everything! We sat on the terrace over looking the water, couldn’t have picked a better table! Zoe was our waitress and was very hospitable and attentive!
Always enjoy eating here. Food is great, service is wonderful, clam chowder is the best.
The food and service were amazing. However the restaurant was way too hot! Sweating while eating isn't fun. We (wife & I) were visiting town from Alabama; it's possible to have an A/C system which can keep up.
Clam chowder was awesome! Calamari was also wonderful!
Great dinner as always. Tempted by they're specials but opted for my favorite broiled seafood platter. Decided to eat inside on a 90+ day in cool comfort.
Avena was our server, who was pleasant and attentive! Great meal, great service!!
Haddock was like butter! Best lobster roll I've had in years & oysters were amazing. Server Forest was on it and view perfect. A++
I had the clam chowder and a lobster roll. I'm not super familiar with lobster rolls, but this was good the bread was toasty but soft beneath the crisp exterior. The lobster on it was a cold salad with a bit of celery and mayo, it was tasty. The lobster was flavorful. The clam chowder was thick and creamy and had good depth of flavor.
We had a group of 7 so I'll briefly cover the other dishes we ordered. The escargot was very buttery though a bit too much butter. Chicken fingers were good, it takes a lot to mess up chicken fingers! Especially when it's made with real chicken pieces, not flaked and reformed, and served with curly fries which were quite crisp though a bit under seasoned in my personal opinion.
The hamburger was a solid burger - moist, relatively flavorful, with a nice tender bun. Also served with the above mentioned curly fries. All the sandwich plates came with whole pickles as well. They were okay, I felt they were a little bitter for me, but everyone else enjoyed them.
The chicken sandwich was a big disappointment it was crispy, but the breading just fell off and the breading and chicken were completely flavorless. It looked flavorful, but had absolutely no flavor. At the very least, it needed salt and pepper.
Customer service was also a bit rough, just failed to keep glasses full. Polite and helpful, but either too busy to keep up with drinks or the glasses being *very small* plastic glasses were too small to keep up with when you have a decent amount of business at lunch time. Most likely it's a combination of the two issues.
Excellent friendly, attentive service, and the absolutely best clam chowder I have ever had!! Lobster roll, veggies, and gerkhin we're good as well, but I'll be coming back specifically for the clam chowder.
Great option for seafood when near the marina. They have a few speciality drinks to try and a great fish and chips. The view on the lake is also available from most table. Probably one of the best restaurant to walk to while waiting for the ferry.
Great food, friendly staff and nice atmosphere Hubby ordered a 2 oz lobster and he said it was fresh and delicious.
Nice view, nice service. But the food wasn't THAT great. The breading on the calamari was too thick, tho the actual squid was fresh. The salmon was over seasoned. I don't know what the hype is about. Good, not great.
Beautiful view of Lake Champlain, nice atmosphere. I had Shrimp Scampi, good flavor, nice size shrimp that were cooked a little to long. The fish and chips were plentiful and well cooked.
Ally was such an angel! The food was amazing and the atmosphere was fantastic.
The place has pretty decent food. BUT, for the prices they charge the wait staff should be running around in a white button up shirt, black pants and a bow tie, not shorts and a "Shanty" t-shirt?! (Not knocking the place only giving readers the bottom line truth!) (eg..my plate of chicken parm....$19) Dude!! It's probably $.10 worth of pasta, $1 size chicken breast and marinara sauce??! If you're going to charge out the butt for a simple plate like this the least you could do is use a good quality pasta sauce!!? Just sayin'!
The cutest restaurant on the water! We went there during a quick visit to Burlington and loved our experience at this restaurant. The food and service were both great. I would suggest to get a side of Mac and cheese, I usually am not a big fan but theirs was exceptionally good.
Everything was cooked just right and the wine was excellent. The atmosphere was pleasant waiter and waitress we're very nice would always return again for a great meal.
One of our favorite places in Vermont for seafood. I thanks to the staff at shanty on the shore as we celebrated our 32nd anniversary there.
Great place to sit and watch the sunset over Lake Champlain. Good chowder and lobster roll. Mixed drinks ok.
Perfect for a sunset. Bourbon salmon was excellent.
Clam chowder was great, fish and chips were awesome. Aust stop if in the area. Oh, and lobster rolls...wow.
I had a fresh garden salad topped with Maple Seared Salmon.
Excellent! Salmon was flavorful and cooked to perfection. They have a nice wine selection.
Staff was very pleasant. Waitress even gave me helpful suggestions for a Gluten-free meal.
The decor is fun and airy. Nice Nautical touches and the views of Lake Champlain with the Adirondacks in the distance! Beautiful!
Seafood was amazing with fast and friendly service. Located a short walk from the lake to walk off dinner
Pretty good, service was a bit slow. Decent wine selection and all the food was pretty good. Not great but good.
Great little place on the lake! Food was amazing. Wonderful atmosphere.
This place is underrated…. Great view, excellent food in generous portions and not too expensive for the quality. Loved it so much that while I was in town for 5 days I went there for dinner two days in a row!
If u like sea food, don’t hesitate to visit this amazing restaurant. Great food with a good view on lake champlain.
The stuff is welcoming
Food is sooo good and they serve big plates
The photo is shrimp taco with curled fries
Great local restaurant! Great good and staff!
Visited for the first time a handful of years ago and always wanted to return because I loved the location, food, and service. Very pleased to have returned and still happy with all three.
Great seafood and a great view. Our server, Tom, was very helpful and the meal was absolutely delicious. Had just been to Citizen Cider the day before so was thrilled to have their drinks on the menu as well.
The eating areas are have great views of the lake, Ask about their seasonal brews they have on tap. They do have great deals like all you can eat shrimp and all you can eat scallops for good prices.
I hadn't been here in years and I've been twice this month. The food was excellent and fresh, even for the landlubber. The service was perfect and you can't beat that view from the deck! It's the closest you can get to the water for dinner in Burlington.
Nice location for food when we visited Burlington in September, the outdoor patio was warm and had good views of the lake.
There were a couple highlights from the food:
1. The maple salmon was great and very Vermont. The fish was melt-in-your-mouth well done and until I tried it I didn't realize how well maple flavor paired with Salmon.
2. The escargot appetizer was rich and tasty. It's a criminally rare dish given how good it is.
All in all, a 5 star experience for both the food and location.
Awesome Thursday late-lunch outing. We enjoyed battered shrimp and scallops as well as the Beyond Burger. Excellent choices. Staff was wonderfully polite, friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend!
This felt like sort of an unassuming place that would be easy to overlook, but it was SO worth the visit. The service was great despite how busy they were at the time. I sat at the bar and ordered the Shoreside Mary (a Bloody Mary with three jumbo shrimp) and two types of oysters, which our bartender was very knowledgeable about. Both were delicious! The drinks were strong and the seafood was super fresh. If I’m ever in Burlington again I look forward to coming back!
We came here kind of as a last minute dinner option and weren't disappointed! Our server was great and the venue was lively. Indoor and outdoor seating was available. We ordered a couple appetizers and a combination entree to share. Food was good and the price was right!
Mind blowing, life altering, all-American food. The photos speak for themselves. Can’t wait to go back!
The staff was great and the soups were fantastic! The clam chowder was the best I've had in a long time and my husband wouldn't even part with a spoonful of his lobster bisque for me to taste. The other food was good but not as good as the soups.
The food is amazing, location couldn't be better, views are gorgeous, our server was so nice. I could not have asked for a better dining experience.
Went here for dinner, had lobster roll and Boston Baked scallops. Food was excellent!! Restaurant had a nice ambiance, super chill. Staff was very friendly, Kelsey our waitress was awesome and super attentive…. Would highly recommend….
Very attentive staff and delicious food. The Rhode Island style calamari (with balsamic drizzle and banana peppers) was a new experience for us and it was delightful. The lobster rolls are packed with delicious lobster. It's a little pricey, but the quality is worth it. The outdoor seating had great views of the lake!
A pleasant experience. Nice views of the water and a great elevated deck. The fish tacos were awesome. The panco crusted fish and chips looked good. We did not care for the breading on the fried seafood (shrimp and scallops), very soft and bland.
Ok, ordered shrimp, scallops and Haddock broiled. It was all covered in bread crumbs, kind of disappointing. This was my first time to try Haddock, I didn't care for it. Scallops were good, shrimp was ok.
Great atmosphere, consistent food, exceptional service. Burlington has a huge food scene, and other seafood options. Shanty is a staple and has been around forever. Don't skip this place!
Good service and excellent food. Another couple was leaving as I got there and highly recommended the Oysters Rockefeller. They didn't disappoint.
I don't have any complaints. It was a pleasant experience and I would definitely go back.
Delicious food, great staff especially with everything going on right now! Beautiful location and dogs loved it too!....which means it's dog friendly for all you dog parents out there
Best Oysters I've ever had. And the Lobster Bisque was Incredible! Spectacular View. Everything was perfect!
This place has no curb appeal but it's very well done inside. Great menu everything came out delicious. Try the clam chowder if nothing else.
You need seafood. You are near water. They've got it. They push hundreds of people through this restaurant every day. The food is great, served super hot from the fryer and from the broiler. We also had the 3 different offerings of oysters, all were fresh with no smell other than the ocean. Get them. Tell me I'm wrong.
View is incredible. The restaurant is neat. The food was solid. I had Calimari, Caesar Salad, clam chowder and margaritas.
Two reasons why it didn't deserve 5 stars.
The claim chowder had half of a potato in it, not sliced.
The waitress was very sweet but she forgot to get one of my margaritas. There must have been a miscommunication when I was seated, because nobody even took my drink order in 20 min.
We enjoyed everything here. Friendly people, good food. Definitely cooked our med rare burger to perfection.
Location, location! We sat outside on the deck with a nice view of Lake Champlain. The food was enjoyable.
Not sure if the menu is always this limited or is a temporary change due to COVID-19. The menu seems very limited in its offerings. Strange that lobster tails are not an option at a seafood restaurant - the entire lobster must be ordered. Scope and quality of menu do not seem to be on par with pricing. Relatively expensive (mid-tier pricing) restaurant serving seafood basics, with a limited menu offering for both seafood and other cuisines. I do not like spending over $200 on dinner and drinking from paper cups. This is not the restaurant I remember from years ago. Nothing was horrible in quality, but it is not worth the cost from my perspective. Service could be improved, there is a snooty/stuck-up atmosphere here for food and service that seem casual at best. Bay views are decent, but food-wise I would seek elsewhere for a top experience.
Speedy, kind service. We had a lovely experience on the patio. Recommend the steamed mussels and a Bahama Mama. We weren't a fan of the fried clam strips, but they seemed fresh; just not our preference.
The shrimp in the scampi were a bit overcooked, and the food overall was... Fine. Excellent service, great views, friendly staff, good drinks, nice atmosphere. Just a little disappointed for a seafood dish at a seafood place for that price.
Good food, good view. Lots of tasty seafood choices.
Great food and service. Lobster was amazing
Baked haddock dinner was scumptious!! Beautiful views of Lake Champlain!! Fast service and good food!!
I'm in love with the setting and menu at this location! Oysters yum.
Very nice ambiance with great view of the harbor. Friendly and good service. Delicious clam chowder. Ok lobster bisque. Shrimp scampi not anything like what others serve. Will not get that again.
Amazing quiet oasis for happy hour! Amazing water front view, always great food - but the best part is the customer service. Wait staff is always attentive and professional. All menu items served in a timely manner and with a smile. Connor and the entire staff is always on point from greeting to ending!
Service was amazing and the food was beyond fantastic. Loved the swordfish and the oysters.
Food was really delicious, staff was great, and the views from the deck were amazing. Highly recommend this place!
Food is very good. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere!
Oyster is so good the clam chowder is so good
Good food. Mac was okay. Good cocktails.
Food was nice. Will do veggies next time.
The view here is incredible. Food-not bad. We only had appetizers and drinks. Good service. Oysters could have had a better shucking job, and a wider sauce selection, lots of shell pieces in every oyster we had but they were good and fresh nonetheless. The escargots were very yummy and cocktails were not bad!
Very good experience. Food was delicious. Prices were very reasonable!
I ordered the shrimp scampi and it was watery and pretty ordinary. The tomatoes were not cooked and looked like cream was replaced with water. I do have to say the view is great, but the food is pretty ordinary.
The view is incredible... mountains, the lake, beautiful breeze. I ordered the Lobster Roll on top of a salad, and they messed it up a bit but the lobster tasted fresh. The fries were very average but the fish tacos were great as well. Service was not amazing but also not bad. I would go again for the view.
Good food quality, but don't order the broiled seafood platter if you expect to be full for $32.00
I have eaten here four times now and I have enjoyed each visit whether it was for lunch or dinner. I think the seafood is always good and the menu has a great variety. I like how they have both fried and broiled seafood options. The clam chowder is also pretty good. Beautiful views of the lake as well!
Great waterfront location over looking the lake, the food is even better. They never disappoints.
Had the fish tacos. They were good
Beautiful view. Everybody's else food was great.
The views were amazing. The deck patio is perfect for a socially distanced summer night. We enjoyed our drinks but I felt the food was kind of bland. The exception was the clam chowderit was one of the best I've had!
Fantastic lobster rolls. Worth every penny. Great cocktails, and delicious fries. I cannot express how solid the lobster roll was—huge chunks of lobster mixed perfectly with celery and Mayo.
Super sad Google didn't say we needed reservations, although it is on their website, I saw after the fact. Had to sit inside where the AC was almost not working. Would've loved the deck. The view was still pretty. Great service. Food was awesome! Maple salmon, Yummo! Drinks should've been in a glass for $10.
Always excellent food and service! A consistent favorite!
We had a meal where everything was excellent...everything. Tasty and fresh!
The maple ginger salmon was amazing. The green beans were fantastic. Get the Bloody Mary and add horseradish. Mac and cheese side is just okay. Staff was fast and very nice
I really enjoy dining in this place. I recommend all seafood lovers to eat at this restaurant.
Great location, cozy ambience and amazing food! A good place to eat and experience local fare. The black bean burger is okay, but the crab cakes, jumbo shrimp, Mac&cheese are superb. The in house sauce has a unique flavour. Service is great. And the clam chowder soup is AMAZING!
We love Big Dan!!!
He's the best chef! Yum!
I got the fried seafood platter and it was pretty one note. Different breading or flavors would have helped break up the monotony. If you do order it, be prepared for a huge portion though!
Location us great. The food was delicious. We had the mussels, baked scallops, chowder and lobster roll. The service wascveey good. It deserves 4.5 star. I wouldctecommend. We had lunch here.
Abouslutley loved it! My lobster was fantastic! Beautiful view out over Lake Champlain while we ate.
Service was great, everything was brought out quickly, but we just weren't impressed by the food for the price. We both got fish and chips with mac n cheese on the side, and they just weren't great. Underseasoned, and maybe the batter could've been improved? I'm not sure, have definitely had better though.
Maybe I'd try this place again, but I'm not sure the price is worth it.
Very lovely place with a nice deck on 2 sides as well as seating on the second lvl. Service was good despite them being busy. Had the best clam chowder I've ever had here will be back
WOWZERS
Very good seafood
Calimari excellent
Clam chowder. Wow 👍 good
Spring salad with the strawberries another woot woot 😇😇
Six stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Great meals and view. Option to sit indoor a real plus on windy or inclement days. Only lakeside restaurant in town that is not just pub food.
The service was quick and the views of the lake are beautiful, but the food isn't great and, in my opinion, rather over priced. I ordered the fish tacos and there was more mayo than fish. There was a near $4 upcharge to have a side salad instead of one of the other sides and it was not particularly good either. The maple balsamic dressing was pretty tasty. I bet this place is great to enjoy a pint and look out on the lake, but I won't be coming back for a meal.
Yay! Dog-friendly outdoor seating area overlooking the lake. Gorgepus sunset views. The umbrellas dont cover everyone seated at the table so be prepared for some serious sun exposure if you visit early. Don't miss the clam chowder here!
Great restaurant! We had an awesome lunch with sn amazing view.
I've been here twice, I feel like I always come away feeling a little disappointed. For whatever reason they don't seem to have the items on the menu that I'm hoping for in a seafood restaurant, but the food that is there is pretty darn good.
The wait staff was very attentive to her needs, but we were also the only party of any size in the building. Even the person greeting us at the front door was pleasant on the way in and the way out.
My family loves coming here, but I can't say the same for me individually. That being said, it's a nice restaurant I wouldn't want to dissuade anyone from going.
Incredible sunsets, tasty food, excellent service. One of the best places in Burlington
Great New England style seafood with a great view of Lake Champlain and outdoor seating. It was a bit typical in styling for a sea food restaurant, but the tables were spacious and accommodating.
Service was on point and fairly quick for how busy the place can get. As for food and drink, I thought that the Bloody Mary was a great and flavorful value. (It was totally worth the extra dollar for the snack stick to make it a surf and turf, plus the shrimp that accompany it might as well make it an appetizer.) I enjoyed the steamers as well, but I felt that the quality of each little neck varied too much for the price.
The entrees were great for the price, with the whole belly clams much better than their strips. I'd avoid the haddock, however.
The view is wonderful and the food was very good. Minus one star for management's handling of my friend's disgusting lobster. It should have been replaced immediately. Instead she was encouraged to continue eating to see if it was getting any better, which it did not. To add insult to injury the restaurant still made her pay half.
Great view, good food and attentive service 👌.
Lobster roll is average. Service was average. 3 stars is average.
Went to this place on a whim and was not disappointed. We were seated with a nice view of lake Champlain. I started with the apple jax and it tasted just like the cereal. Then I order a lobster roll and it was so good. Probably the best lobster roll I have ever had!
Stopped here for my first bite to eat in Vermont. It was great. Was a little skeptical when i first arrived because the place was pretty empty and most of the staff were just having conversations near the kitchen. From the calamari to the fish tacos I was pleasantly surprised. Service was good.
We just stopped by for a drink, appetizer and to watch the sunset. Great location and beautiful view of the adirondacks over lake champlain.
On a Friday Night at pique dinner time, we were able to walk in and get a seat outside. Within a minute we had our menus, within minutes we had our drinks, and ten minutes later our meals that were cooked to perfection arrived. The best food and service I've had in years! I should also mention, this was my first visit and first impression of this well managed establishment. Can't wait to go back for those whole belly clams and, that beautiful view of the lake at sunset.
This is the first time we had been to the Shanty since their remodeling and we like the new look. As always the food was great and timely. However, the best part was the waitress we had. Mia was excellent - attentive, but not over bearing, she spoke clearly and at a pace a Senior Citizen as my self could hear. She is a real asset to the Shanty.
We had to remind them that we had not been helped 15 minutes after the hostess had seated us; but, we all really enjoyed our meals. The clam chowder really is all they talk it up to be; best I've had not on the coast.
This restaurant has great soup and both fried and broiled fish and shellfish. Laura, our server, was extremely hospitable and attentive. The prices are a little high ($3 per oyster???), but it's worth it for good service, good views, and good food.
Zoom in on photo to frame the lake ferry against the lake and N.Y. shore mountains . The view is great, even on a snowless winter day. Service was prompt, professional, Vermont friendly . Seafood was quite good, especially so since so far from seacoast. We had calamari, Cajun salmon sandwich, lobster roll. All very well prepared and presented. No plastic utensils or paper napkins . Honest pour at the bar, too.
A must stop for when I travel back to Burlington! The last two times there I ordered lobster and WHOLE belly fried clams...for just myself! I miss the food terribly living in DE. Everyone wants to know down here, why anyone would want to eat whole belly clams. Oiy! Nothing compares. The staff there are always friendly and kind. I highly recommend this restaurant for excellent seafood and service. A beautiful view across the lake too!
Bartender was talkative and recommended many attractions during our visit. Food was also good.
Came in on Sunday night after skiing, was mighty hungry! I had the all you can eat shrimp,it was fantastic! But I ate to much, it was that good! Our waitress Carol was very efficient and so friendly!
The food was delicious. But if I'm paying $10 for a drink, I expect it to be in a glass. Unfortunately it did not state on google maps that u needed reservations. We had to sit inside where it was extremely warm with no air flow. (To answer the owners response, weird how no one else sends to need reservations)
Decent place but not much to write home about. Started with a cup of the lobster bisque which was very good but the rest of the meal was just so-so. Had the Lobster & Shrimp Au Gratin which was served scalding hot to the point the first bite had to be washed down with a half a glass of ice water. I like my food warm/hot but this was ridiculous. Munched on my bake potato waiting for the entrée to cool down and found the potato itself was a little dry and the skin was over done to the point I had to saw through it with my knife. Lobster & shrimp pieces were nicely sized for the most part but, no surprise, over cooked to the point of being a bit rubbery.
My wife had the salmon platter and like my dish hers was overcooked to where she described it as “vulcanized.” We’re not terribly picky eaters but have eaten in sea food restaurants around the country, especially on the coasts, as well as in a few Caribbean countries and seldom found as poorly prepared a meal as we had here. The food was edible in the final analysis, but just barely. Add to that the fact that the service was slow (albeit friendly) and they brought me sour cream for my potato when I actually asked for butter and we won’t be going back.
It is the attention to detail and properly prepared meals that will bring us back to a restaurant pretty much regardless of price. Here, the only selling point is the view and the friendly staff but we found that the night before at the place right across the street known as the Ice House. Good food, great service and great view. Maybe a bit pricier than the Shanty but as we always learn, you get what you pay for.
Very good seafood, especially the salmon. For the price there should have been more than 4 shrimp. Would I go again? Probably not. I can get better seafood in SC for half the cost. Also, I waited too long for check after I was finished eating.
Great place to eat. We had 6 people in our party and were seated fast and waited on immediately. We went there for lobster and we were not disappointed. We sat by the window and the view was beautiful. Saw a nice sunset. The food came in good time and was delicious! Would definitely eat there again. Highly recommend it.
Uneven experience but generally a great time, food and employees. No regrets but the broiled seafood was a bit bland and shrimps dry... The rest was really great.
Went for the Thursday " Buck a shuck" night. They had three different oyster varieties, all delicious. Had the fried oysters and shrimp for a main. It was good, cooked perfectly, but it could have used something more, but I'm not sure what. Add in $3.00 drafts and you've got a great meal.
I didn't remember the last time I was in a seafood restaurant with the old decorations, ie using bueys over the suspended lighting, etc. We came in the evening, as the sun was setting, the view is charming, the food was great, we went for the clam chowder, the best I ever had, fish & chips, which was quite good and the calamari, which was ok. The service was perfect, our waitress was quite attentive and asked us if we wanted to have all our order at time same time, as we had two appetizers and one entree. All in all, I love this place and will definitely come back :)
Awesome view, good food, and great staff! Highly recommend it. They also have their own parking
The food was very good and our waitress was too!
The food was great a lot of food and the wait staff was wonderful
Food was very good but wish the staff were more friendly it would have made it more enjoyable.
We had a lovely dinner, great service and yummy drinks. Sat outside with a VIEW
Great food, great staff, good location. We really enjoyed this place. You can sit indoors or out. The view is looking out over Lake Champlain, and the docks where many boats are moored. A bit pricey, but the food was very good.
Went here just to try the fish and chips. The chips were under cooked and a tad soggy, the fish was stinky and very lightly battered. Not at all worth the $21. perhaps if it was $12 i would be happy.
Amazing 👏 …
Great lobster. My husband loved the shrimp and scallops au gratin. We sat in the back deck down below, so we couldn't see the entire sunset, but that was our choice (because the Hockey game was on on the enclosed top floor). Good service once we got noticed (it was seat yourself down below). I really did love my lobster.
Great location! Salmon with maple syrup was delicious
My wife and I haven't been here in years. Decided today to treat us to lunch. It was awesome just like we remembered. Had a lake front view too.
The staff was friendly, the food was out quick, and everyone at the table enjoyed what they ordered. The calamari appetizer was very good. I highly recommend going to Shanty on the Shore. Plus with the recent remodel it's only another reason to go.
I had shrimp cocktail a. 2 sunset martini and my husband had a Bahamas. It was wonderful and the waitress and hostess was great. Awesome service
Nice ambience. The quality of the food was good but the taste of the two (out of five) fish dishes was bland. If you prefer bland food this is five stars. If you like fish prepared like in Spain, Portugal, Italy or France this is not your place.
Excellent seafood and service. You can sit inside or outside viewing Lake Champlain.
Great Place. We really enjoyed our meal here and the location overlooking the marina is great. The restaurant is open with lots of light and great views overlooking Lake Champlain
The food was great. The prices and portions were a good value, and the view of the lake was excellent. The staff was superb!
Very nice meal and wonderful staff!
Very tasty. Pretty view. Staff was attentive. I thought the lobster roll was ok but the clam chowder was amazing and the mac n cheese was also very good. Would go back.
Such a cool place. Staff were friendly, and food was amazing. And reasonably priced. The view out on the deck made our visit special on a summer's day. Restrooms are clean although upstairs for those who don't like multilevel buildings.
Relaxing setting with a view of lake Champlain.
We went there for lunch and sat on the patio because we had a dog. The service was excellent and clam chowder delicious. The other dishes we ordered were average.
My server, Liam, was great! He checked in with me often and I felt well taken care of. He was able to suggest a dish that was perfect for me! I had the Lazy Lobster Dinner and it was delicious. I will definitely be back.
Shanty on the Shore isn't exactly my cup of tea. While the food was good, the atmosphere was not my style. It's touristy with stereotypically seaside themed decor... In other words, kind of cheesy and tacky. That said, it was a good place to see the sunset. I probably won't be back. For the money spent, there are many other better places to eat in Burlington.
We had lunch here with a large group. They put us in a private space. The waitress was very sweet and accommodating. The food was great and a wonderful view of the lake.
This has become mine and my husband's go-to spot for special occasions. We reserved a table upstairs for our anniversary and they warmly greeted us with "happy anmiversary!"and comped our dessert! The good is always great, the drinks are amazing and the service can't be beat.
Don't often review places, but Shanty was a nice surprise. Delicious, fresh fish tacos- fried haddock, with fresh coleslaw & pickled onions...were a treat, with perfectly cooked yellow squash/ zucchini side, seasoned with herbs de Provence, and a terrific house- made key lime pie. Very good service, casual friendly atmosphere. Thumbs up!
Had arguably the best mac and cheese I've ever had the pleasure of consuming through my oral cavity. The burger was commendable and the jumbo shrimp along with the scallops were fresh and melted in my mouth. 10/10 would eat again.
Dinner at this restaurant was a very enjoyable experience. Nice atmosphere, great views of Lake Champlain and most importantly, great food and service. Lobster was very tasty but a bit expensive (even more than the usual expensive). Key Lime pie....be sure to try it....was delicious and I would say it favorably compares to the good key lime pie available in the Florida Keys. Comfortable seating although just a bit "close". This is a popular place, so understandably the space is very amply filled with numerous tables for patrons filling the restaurant ( a good thing when you're really hungry). A delicious sauvignon blanc nicely complemented the lobster. A good beer selection...but didn't order. Definite thumbs up in Burlington Vt..
Andrea was super sweet and helpful! Food was delicious! Stunning views of the water and mountains!
Beautiful view, lobster bisque was best ever, bloody mary came from a bottle, not house made, fried seafood platter was nothing special, service was fantastic, st jaque meal was small, didn't care for the spicy rice. Relatively expensive considering. Over all, good.
Great place to enjoy dinner. We had a lobster roll, some bisque, and french fries. Also a very good drink selection and an amazing view. Would definitely stop again.
Shanty on the Shore in downtown Burlington, Vermont is the idea place to get a good midday seafood lunch, that rivals most any ocean side seafood restaurant. Great atmosphere, pleasant people, and great sea food. My wife and I went there on a Friday afternoon for our 39th anniversary and had a great meal! It's not cheap, but you get what you paid for. I'd suggest it.
WAY overpriced for decent, but by no means spectacular fare.
We loved the food. Our waitress was able to fill all our requests for little changes to our dishes. Vegetables was too heavily covered with herbs but all dishes were outstanding.
Only bar / restaurant literally on lake Champlain. The staff is courteous and professional and the food is reasonably priced and exceptional for coconut shrimp was awesome as were the fish tacos and the ahi tuna.
The fish and chips I had were really good, but the maple glazed salmon my friend had was unique and amazing.
Busy seafood restaurant, with plant based 'burger' on menu, nice deck with views of the lake. I had swordfish with seasonal veg. Enjoyed it. All our party left satisfied.
The fried seafood platter is enough for 2.
Fabulous lobster roll
Good food, great view, and decent service. The dinner plates looked more impressive and full of food than the dinner platters. A little odd, but otherwise a tasty meal.
Scallops month!! Wonderful dinner. Beautiful sunset. What more can you ask for??? Michele waited on us - very attentive and highly competent. Great night.
Seafood is excellent. Special mention on the clam chowder and lobster bisque. The views of Lake Champlain are unparalleled.
The food was awesome and plentiful. The staff gracious and efficient. They accommodated our large group without blinking.
Great renovation both inside and out. Food was good, however the Mussels were over done or sat too long before being served and the Clam chowder was too salty. I would return but with more questions for the wait staff before ordering.
Had a late lunch after getting off the ferry from New York. Tables were cramped and very close together, but lots of views of the marina. Service was prompted and friendly. Food was a little overpriced in what I was getting. I ordered the fish and chips, and only a filet of fish was served on top of curly fries. Bathrooms are on the second floor, which is not handicap accessible.
Food was great! Online menu did not match menu when we got there, but the staff went out of their way to prepare a dish for a special occasion.
Dining room manager goes above and beyond.
Today I tried to finish off a gift card for lunch but I almost finished off the dining room manager instead. After a perfect lunch of a bowl of clam chowder and a large Caesar salad with grilled chicken my server, Charlene, brought my check over. I left a gift card that I thought had enough to pay for lunch and to close the card out. I left cash for the tip and walked out. About half way to my car the dining room manger came out of the back door yelling to me that my gift card still had money on it. As she was coming towards me, with card in hand, she tripped and badly twisted her ankle. A lesser manager would not have attempted to return an abandoned gift card. You have to give credit where credit is due. The Shanty's dining room manager gets mega kudos for being honest and doing the right thing. I hope the dining room manager is feeling better and she has my deepest thanks for being an honest and considerate person.
Good seafood in a great location. This is a great place to grab some food and drinks before exploring the town. Close to lots of places and the views are great. Outside seating is awesome when the weather is good. Great for a family meal.
Awesome food and drinks! Soups were great, fish tacos were delicious!
Great service, beautiful view, expensive food that’s not great. We tried several different courses in our last few visits and the food is rubbery, watery and not super good.
Clam chowder was thick creamy and tasty. We had a sunset lake view table and enjoyed the food, craft cider and the service. Worth queueing for a table.
Ok food, awesome chowder though. Ordered a bowl that was really the size of a cup, not cool considering the price. Fish tasted like it was baked, not broiled as stated on the menu.
Great experience. excellent prices. amazing view. excellent serviced. kind courteous waitress. will go back again! Huge portions of fresh seafood!
cozy atmosphere with a nice view. menu prices online are not as listed on this page $5 +upcharge once u get there 9 dollar burger is actually 14 plus extra for cheese. none of the menu items are price wise as advertised. service was okay. we had jack as our server thankfully he had back up a girl that followed up that our meals were ok which one was missing thr chicken in the chicken ceaser salad. she also got us more drinks and water as jack was no where to be found. food was good minus the false advertisement on prices.
Really great food!! The terrace had a view of Lake Champlain. Staff very friendly. A high recommendation to veat there when visiting Burlington, VT.
Was here today for lunch. The waiter we had was very nice. He even took time out to take a picture for us. The food was ok. This place was recommended by several locals. Lobster roll was ok and the fried Calamari was ok. I was expecting more flavor. All in all I would come back.
Shrimp was awesome, I was craving it and it definitely did not disappoint! View was great as well!
Great seafood, five stars stars be warned though a simple lack of selection for the non seafood fan.
Went to Shanty for lunch. Chowder was very good. MY whole belly clam basket was not what they were last year. Ther
e were pieces of clams and hardly any bellys. The batter they used turned hard on the clams and they didn't seem tender. Wife's salmon was good but her string beans were not cooked just warmed. It may be a while before we come back. I believe in giving second chances.
Food was good. Portion for seafood was terrible. Had a plate of clams and scallops and gave 2 whole scallops and 2 half scallops. For $27 should get a little better portion. Services is a hit or miss. Sometimes it's good Sometimes it's not.
Good service, free parking, excellent clam chowder. DO NOT GET THE LOBSTER ROLL- the worst I've ever had. Also, others in my party didn't like the crab cake- too bready.
Nice view. Food was ok. Friendly staff
Went on xmas eve. The Captains platter and fried shrimp dinner was wonderful. The fried calamari with banana peppers and sweet balsamic drizzle was to die for! Tried the maple whiskey cocktail that really warmed the soul. Maddie our waitress was great! Thank u Shanty for an exceptional xmas eve celebration. Merry xmas to all!
Came in as part of a group of 10 people on a Saturday. Sure, we had to wait a bit to get seated, but it was absolutely worth it. Food was excellent and service was up to the task. Too bad none of us live in the area.
The food was good, we went in the winter and I think it would be better to go in the summer to sit outside on the water.
Great service--Tess was very fun--and the food was very good, especially the macaroni & cheese, & the key lime pie. Also, the Lakeside Lemonade is a great drink. ( I had 2!)
Excellent place for seafood. Great location. Outside dining. The oysters are delicious. Try the salmon with Vermont syrup.
Decent quality great service. Slightly overpriced maybe
Excellent lobster roll and nice selection of local beers. Exterior hides a very nice remodeling inside. Good views of Lake Champlain also. Worth a visit!
Had dinner with Hubby tonight (Labor Day) after reading all the reviews from every site I could find for a seafood restaurant in Burlington. The waitress was friendly and efficient, but she wasn't a college student (thank goodness!). The food was less than exciting for me but Hubby's was very good. The Clam Chowder was over-herbed but tasty. I ordered Shrimp Scampi - the shrimp was over-cooked and under-garliced and the linguini had no taste at all. Not worth the calories! Hubby had the Maple Salmon and Mac & Cheese. They complemented each other well. The salmon was cooked perfectly, the glaze delicious. The pasta was under-seasoned, but the cheese sauce good, not too heavy. It's "fine" but nothing spectacular.
The setup is very rad. Service is the amazing.the bread on burger was nasty but AMAZING
Nice setting, would loved to sit outside with the water view but didn't make reservations soon enough. Food and atmosphere was good, would definitely go back! 🙂 …
The food was great, I like it since was not salty. The lake view is nice.
Great food, but took 30 minutes to get an appetizer and another 30 for the entrees (2 soups and 1 special).
Food was well cooked the staff was great. Had the fish and chips, the fish was bigger than my plate! The chips were just curly fries othing to write home about
The clam chowder was great. Grilled shrimp was also spectacular. Friend haddock was not so good, nor was the crab cake
Great atmosphere. I really enjoyed the scallops and shrimp. The staff was very nice as well. All around good value.
Hailing from Florida we KNOW good seafood when we encounter it. The seafood at the Shanty equals to or may we confess even better, moreso since the chef was even willing to share the secret of cooking salmon with a touch of Vermont Maple syrup! The local Pilsen beer was superb. The view over lake Champlain was more than a feast for the eyes.
Katie was our server, and she was fantastic! Very attentive, and friendly. Our food came out quickly and delicious! I've been several times, but I believe this was by far our best experience!
For Vermont it's alright seafood. The owner really hates locals because they catch him at making up a Municipal tax on meals. You can go across the lake and get better , or just go to Florida and get the real thing.
Food and service both were great, we did go at off time, seating outside and in. Both had haddock fish dinner I like that vegetables were firm.
This place is nice! I just had dinner here and i was definately satisfied. The mac and cheese was great and my lobster was Awesome!!! Would come back if im in Burlington again
Ps. The staff is AWESOME!!!
Had the clam chowder, lobster bisque, crab cakes and lobster roll; everything was excellent. Service was attentive. Reasonable prices for good sized portions.
Awesome food. Great service!
Great food. Miss Emeily is a fantastic waitress. My new go 2 place
Came here when we first arrived in Vermont a couple weeks ago and had to make it our last meal in Burlington upon our departure. The clam chowder is the best I've ever had!
great food service location.. way nicer inside then the curb appeal.
Great spot to relax, have a couple of drinks and enjoy the view of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains. I got the Fish Tacos and they were very good.
Gorgeous view of the Adirondacks across Lake Champlain from just about anyplace at The Shanty. Good food and awesome service from Sierra.
Best lobster bisque I've had. All around good food and nice experience.
Food was excellent! Staff made us feel relaxed and not rushed. Had a beautiful view of Lake Champlain.
The food is Amazing. But the quantity it seemed was less. I am a student, and this is definitely NOT a Pocket friendly restaurant to go!
Great service and loved the maple/ginger salmon. If ever back in Vermont would eat here again. Matt was excellent and would specifically request him.
Get the lobster roll you won’t regret it!
Nice selection of seafood. Fish & Chips was delicious. Nice view of the lake & a few off street parking spots. I recommend.
Some of the best New England style seafood in Vermont! Gorgeous location, sitting on the deck and watching the sailboats on Lake Champlain is nothing short of paradise.
Loved the place. The lobster roll was loaded with nice big chunks and very fresh. Definitely recommended.
Good service. The broiled options are good; the fried options taste less than fresh.
Wonderful late Friday lunch.
Great deck and view of the harbor. Food is good overall and the service is great. Dog friendly.
Good seafood for the price. The staff was friendly and were fun to talk to. Gave great suggestions on what to eat and drink.
Had a great time food was very good! All our food was fresh and prices are reasonable! Will
definitely comeback plus a great view of the lake!
Husband had fish and chips while I had the broiled haddock with herbs. Food was fresh and delish!! Prices are a bit high but worth it.
Great seafood, shrimp scampi pasta needed more garlic flavor however the clam chowder was delicious!!
Classic chowder, maple syrup ginger salmon. Shanty pie, escargot and lobster roll. Sunset. Very nice
Nice food and service! And a beautiful view of the lake! I could have sat on the deck and watched the sail boats all day, with a cold beer of course! 😀 …
The food is not the best one but is ok for eating something when you are starving.
The Mac and cheese was not good, the service is friendly.
Very quick service, pleasant waitress, more food than we could eat. We plan to go again.
All the fun of a seaside fish shack but placed in the Green Mountains! Good food and a fun place. Summer views of Lake Champlain are a bonus.
Had lunch today, fantastic! Wonderful view, GREAT Calamari and IMPECCABLE service. Would return in a minute except I have to return to boring Manhattan... Thanks Shanty on the Shore, I will return.
Lobster Roll is amazing!
This it's on the # 3 place of my list of best restaurants that I eat in while traveling around the world the it's a beautiful restaurant in the border line of Vermont and new Hampshire in the shores of lake Champlain, we order lobster bisque, fresh raw oisters, escargots, mussels was cook in white wine & garlic, Rhode island calamari everything was so delicious this it's a world class restaurant
This is a Burlington classic. It's not necessarily the fanciest joint in town but the food is fresh and prepared well every time. The views also can't be beat!
Amazing ! So fresh really good
Delicious escargot, broiled haddock, shrimp cocktail, caprese salad, cocktails. Beautiful evening!
Awesome seafood. If you are in Vermont looking for fish, go here. Make sure to anticipate a potential wait for a seat. This place is a hot spot for a reason.
Excellent clam chowder. Great bartender.
Great view in nice weather
Great view of Lake Champlain. Large portions of good, tasty food. Fast service.
Best fish n chips.
Good food, great views, good service.
We were a party of 5 adults and 6 children. Food was average and bill was $250 with tip. We found it a bit pricey with a limited children's menu
Great food, great staff. I had the fish tacos and I normally get them anywhere we go, and they had the best ones yet!
Take a LUMS restaurant from the 80s, make it seafood themed, don't refurbish or upgrade the building, bathrooms, tables, chairs, or menu for 30 years and you've got The Shanty. Dopey run down tourist trap, but it *is* the only affordable seafood place around. Dated a really cool girl who worked there for a while, so +1 star.
Had a pleasant meal out on the balcony overlooking the water.
Food was great. Personal were also great. Renovations were super. Highly recommend it. We have enjoyed it in the past and will go back soon.
Food was good as always service was also good
Excellent chowder. Good food selection. Good drinks. Our waitress was super
Great location, spectacular food and fabulous service.
Wonderful meal and waiter, plate full of clams and delicious burger!! Can't wait to come back! I referred quite a few folks here.
Lunch was excellent, service fast. All the fried food is delightful, lightly breaded. Key lime pie is great
May have been an off day. But it wasn't at it's usual high quality that I remember.
The calamari appetizer was delicious. The shrimp tacos were perfect. Tender, not rubbery or chewy.
Good food. Very fast and friendly service! Thank you for a nice dinner with a great sunset over the lake view.
Good food. Decent sized portions. Very friendly staff. Try the calamari. It was awesome.
Great food and service!
Perfect view of the lake. Great fish and chips.
Not a seafood lover so had their chicken parm. It was excellent! Wife had lobster and she said that was excellent too.
Seashore Mary, Lobster Bisque; 1 1/2 lb lobster! All fabulous! Enjoyed the deck overlooking Lake Champlain.
Haven't been in quite a few years and not much has really changed. The food was good and the service was great but, was hoping for more variety.
Great food! Nice view! Comfortable atmosphere.
What a find! We had just flown in and want to be by the water. The special was lobster rolls! Bingo, jackpot, delicious! So glad we found this place!
The food was ok. Just wasn't what we were expecting
Best New England seafood restaurant in Burlington, Vermont. Terrific views of the lake, great service, nice atmosphere, variety of food and bar.
Great view of the water and had an amazing lobster roll and salad.
Known for great New England clam chowder. We were surprised they did have A Bike rack to lock our bikes to.
I had shrimp and scallop au gratin. I was disappointed I didn't think it had much flavor and tasted like they just dumped a little bit of milk in it.
Seafood was fresh and delicious, views of the lake spectacular, and servers were attentive and couldn't be nicer
Nice atmosphere on a pretty night. Great spot to catch a sunset over the lake. Friendly staff and decent food.
Service and view were awesome! Oh yeah and really enjoyed the food. Would definitely go back!
Great food , very nice waitress!! Cierra I think her name was.
Excellent clam chowder, good oysters, really good shrimp and scallops. Great service and great views from the deck...
Food is good and always consistent, fast Friendly service, seated right away and never wait long for your order, nice view of the lake
We came across this gem of a place on our way to renting bicycles ,we thought we would try it and was pleasantly surprised with service and food.
Really enjoyed our food. The view is gorgeous.
Zip Lock Baggies...........who knew?
We went with friends to a restaurant on Sunday for lunch and sat in the patio section beside the store. We happened to notice zip lock baggies pinned to a post and a wall. The bags were half filled with ...water, each contained 4 pennies, and they were zipped shut. Naturally we were curious! The owner told us that these baggies kept the flies away! So naturally we were even more curious! We actually watched some flies come in the open window, stand around on the window sill, and then fly out again. And there were no flies in the eating area! This morning I checked this out on Google.
Below are comments on this fly control idea. I'm now a believer!
Zip-lock water bags: #1 Says: I tried the zip lock bag and pennies this weekend. I have a horse trailer. The flies were bad while I was camping. I put the baggies with pennies above the door of the LQ. NOT ONE FLY came in the trailer. The horse trailer part had many. Not sure why it works but it does!
#2 Says:Fill a zip lock bag with water and 5 or 6 pennies and hang it in the problem area. In my case it was a particular window in my home. It had a slight passage way for insects. Every since I have done that, it has kept flies and wasps away. Some say that wasps and flies mistake the bag for some other insect nest and are threatened.
#3 Says:I swear by the plastic bag of water trick. I have them on porch and basement. We saw these in Northeast Mo. at an Amish grocery store& have used them since. They say it works because a fly sees a reflection& won't come around.
#4 Says:Regarding the science behind zip log bags of water? My research found that the millions of molecules of water presents its own prism effect and given that flies have a lot of eyes, to them it's like a zillion disco balls reflecting light, colors and movement in a dizzying manner. When you figure that flies are prey for many other bugs, animals, birds, etc., they simply won't take the risk of being around that much perceived action. I moved to a rural area and thought these "hillbillies" were just yanking my city boy chain but I tried it and it worked immediately! We went from hundreds of flies to seeing the occasional one, but he didn't hang around long.

Great decor and view but food is tasteless. Service is slow and not courteous. Great vine selection though
The service was very good and the food was simply delicious!
Place was awesome!!! The food and view were amazing!! Food came out fast and cooked perfectly
Yes kinda touristy yes kinda slow service and yes not the best seafood in town. Bring good company and all those other things won't bother you as much.
Great food.
Lovely views of the lake
Want to go back soon
Lots of good fish. Not the place to come if you want something else!
Yummm! Great food, nice view & friendly staff. Has a parking lot also which is always a plus for me.
Enjoyed fried shrimp and scallops with o lovely view of Lake Champlain.
Amazing food, friendly staff, and speedy service, and an absolutely stunning view
I come here everytime I am in Burlington over the last few years....I have never been disappointed and the food is so well prepared that even my children have tried new things..... And we all know how hard that is to do...
In Burlington VT for the memorial day weekend and discovered this place. Awesome food and service with a great view
Unbelievably good. I got the all you can eat scallops during scallop month and they were amazing!
We received great service, fish and chips were very tasty for the kids, and the calamari is the best I had in a long time.
One of my favorite spots when in the Burlington area! Fresh seafood year round. Its definitely a must try place!
Super Service from Tony, we forgot very important stuff and he manage to ship it back to us. Very Nice. The staff and the food was perfect ! )
The salmon was very good.
Food was amazing!! All the food was fresh and cooked to perfection. Staff was prompt and friendly.
They have a beautiful deck and a great menu. Eating outside and looking at the Lake what more can you ask for.
Location is nice and so is the staff. I found the food to be ok and the prices to be a bit high for the level of quality.
Wonderful atmosphere, good seafood dishes and avarice price for seafood. Great waiters and service.
Great views. Venue is ok but not great, Wait staff the same. Basic seafood menu.
The lobster was good and the mac and cheese was the best I have ever eaten.
Good service. Good food. Drinks were fun and delicious. Great view of the sunset.
Always great for a sunset meal. Mindful of health precautions, make a reservation.
Friendly, helpful staff served a delicious clam chowder bread bowl. Yum.
Great views from the deck. Good food slow serving tables . And they were stingy on the sauces and dressing.
Great service 🥰
Loved the clam chowder and the lake view
Food was very good, wait staff responsive, good desserts
Dinner was phenomenal, couldnt beat the view from dining on the deck overlooking Lake Champlain.
Great clam chowder and other food, awesome view.
This place was so nice, right on Lake Champlain. Beautiful
