Just had Papa Frank’s for the first time. Being Italian myself, this was excellent and authentic spaghetti with meat sauce! Food was still HOT when I got home. Also ordered a mini cannoli as well, best I’ve ever had! The aluminum take out plate was STUFFED, so the prices were surprisingly low for the amount of food you get. I’ll definitely be going back!

My husband and I have frequented this little restaurant with my adult daughter and her children a number of times and sought it out on our recent trip because it brings back great memories. In addition, it has that home town atmosphere. The food is pretty good, the staff members are incredible. It is NOT upscale or fancy, but it it delightful. Give it a try!

I love coming here when I travel back to school, and each visit is just as amazing as the last. Super friendly staff, amazing and affordable food, and a really cozy atmosphere! I got a salad and a side of pasta w/meatballs, and both were absolutely amazing. I’ll be showing my roommates and friends this place for sure.

Casual atmosphere. Standard Italian fare. I had lasagna, my wife had fettuccine Alfredo. Generous portions for a good price. Not spectacular but satisfying. Our server, Anna, was terrific.

Heard an ad on the radio, decided to give it a try... They were very accommodating to a custom order. Pros: Good size portion Great price Fresh ingredients Pasta cooked perfectly Cons: Parking is worse than Burlington Dish was bland (needed salt among other things) Entrance is confusing Overall not bad, would definitely try it again but probably never will.

What can you say about a legend? Went there for my old favorite carbona. No disappointment at the same perfectly cooked pasta and savory sauce I've lived for decades. Cudos.

Whenever we come east we make a point to come here and have great Italian food. We had pizza and garlic bread (ooh yeah!) and take home manicotti for mom. If you're looking for a job their looking for cooks.

Very busy restaurant. Ordered by phone and picked it up. Got home and the food was still hot enough to be gingerly handled.(that is too say HOT) There was a good amount for the price and it was very good. The staff were busy but attentive. If you're looking for bang for your buck, this is the place to go. Good food at good prices and plenty of it! I recommend this restaurant if you want an excellent Italian experience.

I love Papa Frank's. It has been around for practically forever and serves up classic Italian food at pretty reasonable prices. I've only been here a handful of times but every time I go, I wonder to myself why I don't go there more often. There is no parking other than the nearby streets and the restaurant is in a creaky old building giving it a fairly cozy atmosphere. It's fair to say that the city of Winooski has gone through some drastic changes over the last three decades, but Papa Frank's has been there and has, itself, changed very little.

I got the small meatball sub, and it was fine. It said it came with green peppers, onions, and black olives but they were pretty sparse. It tasted decently, I just expected more of the veggies. My girlfriend got the pesto pasta with some broccoli, again it was fine. She thought it could have used more sauce and also the broccoli was an add on, and again it was pretty sparse on the amount. If she didn't get that as an add on it would have been just a big bowl of pasta. I'm not sure if that's how it's listed or not on the menu, as I didn't look at it. Service was good and friendly and we got our food quickly. The ambiance was cool though, everything was clean and had a nice feel to it. Overall it was fine, maybe we'll be back? I don't know, maybe if we're in the area.

The food is inexpensive. Their red sauce is pretty good. Their carbonara is incredible. I had the chicken parmigiana. It wasn't the best I ever had but it was right up there. Factor in the price and it becomes a no brainer. My girlfriend had the eggplant rollentini. That was a five star dish. If you like eggplant, you'll love this. As with every place, staffing is an issue in this post pandemic world. Papa Frank's is No exception. While there clearly was one experienced waitress working, we weren't lucky enough to get her, at first anyway. We ended up with someone that took our order, got it to the kitchen. Then proceeded to stand around like a state worker. We never got our drinks. I made blatant eye contact with him not once but twice in a ten minute period. Finally I had to almost yell to him to get his attention. He then finally delivered our drinks with the weakest apology he could muster. Then disappeared for the rest of our dinner. The one experienced waitress was left going table to table systematically waiting on everyone herself. If it were a different time, I would've given less stars and less than the 25% tip that we did leave. However, since the pandemic, you just can't find decent help. That one girl was legitimately doing the best she could. All while keeping a good attitude. Overall, I do recommend going there but make sure it isn't during peak hours.

Always good service and... great food plus most reasonable prices... Italian atmosphere... plain Jane tables & accomodates families... side dishes for all kinds of extras... you like roasted garlic on your fettuccini you got it or get it in a side. Can't go wrong.

Nice local pizza and pasta joint. The place has such a cozy feel to it and very local. Food is ok and I've been here several times but I've also had better. That being said, it's incredibly popular and they used to have daily specials with some really good cheap deals. Not sure if they still have that or not but I used to walk by and see their sign quite a lot.

Excellent food! I had the calzone with pepperoni. That thing was stuffed full of meat and cheese! Staff was very friendly. May want to call ahead and reserve a seat, as it seems this place gets super busy! I have already recommended them to friends.

Great place to enjoy mouth watering Italian cuisine. Family friendly atmosphere with super friendly host and waiters/ waitresses. I love the fact that they have gluten free pasta, since my wife has gluten allergies, which allow her to enjoy their delicious food. This place is a must visit if your around this side of town. We had a delicious meal of ziti and meatballs with a small antipasto salad topped off with a side of garlic bread. The owner was very apologetic for the slowness. His person did not come in. It was big enough for us to split. Too much (for us) for one person. One drawback was I forgot to take a picture of the meal.

Good authentic Italian! Rich thick tomato sauce your spoon can almost stand on its own in. The folks at Papa Frank’s are welcoming and accommodating. I would have given them five stars except I am taken aback at how little precaution they take regarding Covid. I was surprised to be able to walk in the restaurant, through the tables, and up to a counter where the cashier/server had no mask protection nor any plastic wall. Adjacent to her were the cooks all very exposed to who ever walks in.

I just went here tonight with my family. It was incredible! The food was the best Italian food I have ever had! Really what impressed me was the service. Our waitress was the best waitress I think I have ever had. We started talking about working that night and how you could be doing something other then working. She then replied and told us that she loved her job. We really could see that she did. She had the best personality of any waitress or waiter I have ever seen. She is the model for how all waiters and waitresses should be. Thank you for time and I hope she is reading this. Like I said best food and best service! Cheese Ravioli is awesome!

Good pizza. They are light on the toppings: 1-2 thin slices of pepperoni per slice, 1-2 thin slices of green pepper spread over half the pizza. Good sauce, very sweet. Crust was good if a bit flimsy. Staff was nice when I picked up the pie. This was my first visit, as I just moved here.

I’m not paid for this review it’s just out of pure honesty. I grew up in Jersey and decided to go away for college (Champlain College) in the most exact opposite location. It was not until my senior year of college where I found out about this place. Once finding out about this place and walking in there with my best friends Chelsea and Danny it took me right back home to Jersey. The ambience of papa franks is pure Italian comfort. You can relate to this place if you have watched the show blue bloods where they sit for family dinner. Papa franks is like having dinner with your family. I always asked for the table in the corner and that became our table. The only meal I ever ordered there was Linguine with White clam sauce and a coke. It has been a long time since I have been here, but if you want authentic Italian food with family atmosphere Papa Franks tugs on your heart strings.

Was not overly impressed with the two times I've been. I've now worked within walking distance for a few years and it's not the highest on my pick of places to eat. PROS: It's nice to see home style recipes held up in full blown tradition. They do have a diverse menu with many options. CONS: The times I went I didn't' feel overly welcome by the staff and one of the times my lasagna was frozen in the center, not what you'd expect from a fresh cooked meal.

Went to Papa Frank's for my grandson's 25th birthday. There were 7 of us. Kirsten was the best. Even though it was busy, it was like we were her only table. Service was awesome.

I got a 12 inch pepperoni & sausage. A side order of chicken alfredo & another of meatball pasta. My Total came out to $30 and that's with a $5 tip & Soda. For my slices it was cut into 4's with each slice being very filling. very cheesy! It was very good pizza. I would come back here when I am in the area.

The restaurant itself seemed pretty unorganized and dirty, the staff even looked dirty and weren't very friendly when I picked up my order.. I watched a staff member deliver the wrong food to a table that appeared to have been waiting for a while and who seemed really annoyed.. When I was finally acknowledged.. and my order located 🙄.. my iced tea had no ice, was filled only halfway and I was given 2 plain sugar packets (stained with red stuff) to sweeten it. The chicken parmigiana was a mess and didnt come with the pasta I requested. The lasagna was pretty good, though. I give them 3 stars because they seemed overwhelmed, though they only had a few customers.. I dont know what may have been going on behind the scenes. So, benefit of the doubt, maybe they really shine at other times.

Friendly staff. Sort of just run of the mill italian joint, at least in terms of the food I got. Mozzarella sticks and Alfredo. There are places where I think the Alfredo sauce is extra yummy, this wasn't one of those places. I don't intend to damn this place with faint praise, Google popped up a request for a review, so I'm responding. One thing I didn't like but others might find rather charming is the fact that the whole place is tilted... the floor is completely warped. They initially had me at a table against the wall and the floor immediately starts warping out from the wall's edge so I was sitting at an odd angle. The place wasn't too crowded so I simply moved to another table where I was more tilted downwards. Also the chair, just not very comfortable - one of those sort of weaved-back chairs where the back really doesn't feel comfortable when you lean back into it.

This restaurant consistently serves homemade Italian fare inexpensively and with great service. Unfortunately we have moved out of the area but I will remember how much we enjoyed dining at this establishment multiple times during our stay in Vermont. If you are looking for No Frills, extremely large portions, and smiling service look no further than Papa Frank's.

This is a hidden gem just off the Winooski Circle. Perfect spot for perfectly priced Italian comfort food. The portions are massive and the wine selection, although limited, is a perfect accompaniment. The food here is not all homemade, but comforting and filling. The service makes this place stand out!! On our last visit we were taken care of by a very accommodating server. She helped us pick out menu items to share, got us a bigger table and knew exactly when to stop by the table. So happy to have found my new go to Italian comfort food spot.

My boyfriend and I both agree this is the BEST pizza in Vermont. We're from NJ originally, and are harsh critics of pizza. I'd say this rivals even the pizza joints from back home. We've never had any issues and order very frequently. The staff are always courteous and it has a nice close knit family vibe. If you're looking for a place to put money into to support during these rough times, I HIGHLY suggest Papa Franks.

Great area with good food if you keep your choice simple (no veal!). You can't beat a salad with pasta and meatballs especially now that Boves is closed. The lasagna and stuffed shells are very good. Great prices and friendly staff as well. BONUS: garlic bread comes with each dinner meal!

I would have given 5 stars but the decor is very outdated and this is strictly a pizza place. Just stick to the pizza, it is very good and reasonably priced. I got the pasta and was disappointed, wasn't a lot of flavor in the sauce. Waitress was very friendly!

After a death bed promise to uncle Julie I had given up crime and had gone straight. For years I had been working as a congressional campaign manager, sure that I had left my life of crime behind. But once that video of the honorable gentleman from Indiana attempting to become intimate with a lawn chair went viral, my career was over. I was sucked back into the underworld and here I was again in Vermont with a trunk full of fake passports and counterfeit Speedway Rewards Cards. I was at a crossroads. If I went through with the deal I knew there was no turning back. I needed some Italian food to clear my head so I hit Papa Frank's. The ambiance was so authentic you could almost here Marlon Brando and Mussolini arguing in the background. The waiter, graceful like a gazelle, approached. At first I was taken aback, both by his grace and because his head was freakishly large even by the standards of the Italians. But he quickly put me at ease with wit and professionalism. I ordered the baked ziti and upon the first bite an orgasmic rodeo of flavor was unleashed on my taste buds. I knew then and there if such goodness exists in this world I could not again turn to the darkness. I left the big headed waiter a tip of 600 Speedway Rewards Cards and 45 blank Honduran passports and I went to rebuild my life. Stomach and soul happy and full. Thank you Popa Frank. Five stars!!.

Atmosphere was awesome. Cool area, and cozy family style decor really make this a nice place to enjoy dinner. That being said, I ordered carbonara, and got overcooked noodles, tasteless cheese sauce, and bacon. In Italy, you get al dente pasta with proper egg cheese sauce and pancetta. Order something else here.

Went to Papa Frank's and had pizza. The price is right but the crust is that chewy New York style. We prefer a slightly crisper crust. It was just OK. Might go back and try the pasta dishes though.
