We come here probably once a month, mostly for lunch. The service is relatively good and the bathrooms are clean. The fish is very fresh. The building is showing it’s age and could use some updates.

We celebrated a birthday at 5:30pm on a Wednesdays night. The meal was very satisfying as always. The show was a little lack luster this time around, feeling rushed rather than a true koto traditional hibachi table experience. Under the explained understanding of the restaurant being short staffed by two employees we still had fast and quality service.

Celebrating Birthday Lunch There is a hidden gem in Shelburne, Vermont. I would describe this place as a “ Bomb “ Extensively Japanese hibachi menu and full bar service. The server ( Helena ) and hibachi chef ( Tang ) is very welcoming, attentive, and personable. Definitely will be back:)

We always love this place. No hibachi this time but they sat 10 of us and our server was so great. She did separate checks, remembered who ordered what and had an awesome attitude on a busy night. I know how high pressure it can be so it's appreciated. And the food! So good.

I went here for my birthday dinner. I ordered the Lobster Teriyaki with Salmon. The presentation was beautiful and thr food was delicious. Despite not being able to have dairy, a free fried ice cream was brought out to my table. My mom and sister were planning on ordering one, so they were very pleased.

In the past, I have gone in and doneboth their Habachi and normal dine-in experience(s). If one want to enjoy entertainment and a special time at Kotos, I would highly suggest doing the Habachi Table. Reserve ahead of time. If you want to walk in and just have the dine-in experience, then be aware that most of the waiters and waitresses are great-but not all. There was maybe once or twice out of many that I have had a waiter that seemed more annoyed to serve us then anything...May be a cultural difference, but dine in experiences does take a star off my reciew due to the fact it has happened more then twice in the last 6 months. Over all, I normally just order their sushi. Dragon roll is my favourite. I have recently tried the Twister Roll as well (shown in my photos) and it's good as well, but does not top the dragon roll. Twister roll definitely has a stronger "fish" taste with small and tiny hint of spice. And of course, a Philadelphia roll for a friend who isn't into sushi, but enjoys a small and simple snack. Over al kotos has been a good experience. Get noodles VS rice. I find the noodles to be more flavourful but it is up to you and your mood.

My first experience at a Koto restaurant was a few years back in Groton, CT since we lived at walking distance from the restaurant. Food was delicious and everything was perfect. Koto in Burlington has the same nice atmosphere and great service but food just doesn’t taste the same. Green tea was lukewarm and didn’t really taste like any tea. Not sure I’ll be going back :(

The prices have increased...but so has everything. We had a party of 7 at the hibachi table. It was delicious and fun. The vegetable part of the hibachi was disappointing. Some of us did not get all of the vegetables. It was weird. We did have a marvelous time and will return next year to celebrate Christmas Eve again. It's becoming a tradition 3 years in a row.

Amazing food an amazing experience. If you can, I holy recommend the Hibachi seats. Well worth the show. No matter what choice you go with here it will be delicious! Pricing is on the high side, but considering the experience I would say it’s well worth it. Stop by if you haven’t before!

The place is well maintained. Staffs were very friendly and the service was quick. With the covid going on they have safety precautions in place. Delicious food they have variety of options to choose from. The hibachi looks great too.its a good place for special occasions also you can choose to sit near the window it's a very pleasant experience.

Food was ok, some burnt. Had some really pretty fish in a river-like tank in the floor. Not a lot of space where the hibachi was. They had some Japanese style tables, which was a nice addition.

I guess I don't know what a Japanese steakhouse is. Cuz I was thinking I would get a steak. But they only offer one steak entree unless you get beef teriyaki. There is the hibachi grill but we've done that a million times. Disappointed. The sushi was good but it was expensive. I think I will be doing Texas Roadhouse if I want steak and Asian bistro if I want sushi.

Have eaten here several times and has been consistently good sushi. The dining room can be noisy due to the hibachi grill table side service they offer, particularly when busy. Service is friendly and professional. I would recommend Koto to a friend.

I have been here probably 20+ times. It is always delicious and has a very fresh taste. The hibachi is cool and great for family occasions. The only reason I don't give 5 stars, is because when you order "rare" steak, they just barely sear the outside and the inside is completely raw, purple color. I love rare steak, but atleast 1/2 the times I have ordered it - it has been pure raw. Also - the duck has been overcooked and very dry every time. The sushi is probably their best feature, it is all phenomenal. *Fun Fact* when you leave - ask for a pint of their ginger salad dressing, its worth it.

Been going to this restaurant for almost 10 years. The restaurant is as very clean, has very good service, and great food. The location is pretty good and pretty busy at times but that doesn’t stop their great service. They always make sure to answer my questions and make sure my time is important. Friendly staff members, great manager, and very good cooks; would recommend to anybody living in the area. Definitely worth your time to check it out.

Even though we came at lunchtime, the care and energy they put into our experience was amazing. The food (hibachi and sushi) was delicious and seasoned to perfection. The management was attentive as well, making sure we enjoyed our experience before we even left the table. Our 6 year old gives it 1000/10 as well.

Authentic Japanese tempura. Light and crispy with authentic tempura dipping sauce. Shumai were also delicious. Ordered via door dash and picked up at their convenient take out window. Very organized, efficient and on time.

Spacious indoor dining. Has a small stream with small water fall inside with large Koi. Plenty of hibachi tables if you want that experience. We sat a regular table. There are three large dining areas. No issues with getting a reservation while other restaurants in Burlington on weekend were backed up until 8pm (we called at 2pm). Miso soup, Japanese salad dressing, and gyoza (dumplings) were fantastic! Entrees: Chicken Hibachi (similar to Chicken Hibachi is similar except more comes with Hibachi). Was pretty good. They provide a teriyaki bbq and a seafood surprise dipping sauce - I preferred the lemon based seafood sauce (there is no seafood flavor in it). My partner had a Shrimp Hibachi - a little over seasoned and cooked. So so. Prices were moderate for Japanese food. Service was impeccable. Right next to large highway but not near Church Street Marketplace. Medium sized parking lot. No issues finding spot, Easy to see Koto sign from road if you’re looking, but turn into lot may be abrupt so go slow as you approach. We would return here.

My fiance and I come here at least once a year for special occasions. They never disappoint! Even during the restrictions of covid, they have amazing food and service! They keep the restaurant very clean. It is definitely a splurge money kind of place but it is SO worth it!

Visit #1 It was such a treat being able to finally lunch at Koto. A little back story, as a Canadian, I always heard the commercial on the radio. I am talking about 2014 and before...when I had my car ! Well, as we were going to spend our 5th year wedding anniversary, I invited my other half to Koto. Koto did not disapoint ! The staff was friendly, the food super fresh and well prepared. Good quantities. Prices Ok ! I recommand Koto ! Visit #2 The employee almost dropped our food on the table. He was pretty much expeditive during our lunch. Maybe they were short staffed. I don't know but it was really not pleasant. The food was less tasty than our 1st visit.

We had a lovely Hibachi dinner. Our waitress was friendly and very helpful. The atmosphere was awesome. You can sit at the Hibachi grills or in the back where it is quieter and the lights are dimmer. Plenty of parking and the restraunt is very clean.

Clean and well maintained. Friendly and professional staff. Good food. All precautions are taken for COVID. I recommend their lunch box. It's reasonably priced with adequate quantity of food.

Between this one and the one in West Leb, NH, I would choose the latter. The Bento box that I ordered was delicious! However, the hibachi dinner that my husband ordered was lack luster. Both the rice and noodles were very bland. The Teriyaki steak in my Bento box was better than his hibachi steak. I don't know how the one in West Leb packs in so much more flavor, but they do!

Had sushi 🍣 for dinner. For he most part it was good. I had a couple issues. First was the chef special that had a piece of sushi that didn't look good (black veins). It was returned and refunded half the price which was a nice gesture. While eating at the bar, the fruit flies we're really gross. I actually moved to another area of the bar but of course they followed shortly thereafter. I won't be back but the hibachi may be worth a try.

Koto is a family favorite! Whether you're looking for sushi, hibatchi, or a gathering in one of the side rooms, I highly recommend this place! Always a fun experience and the kids really enjoy the hibatchi dinner. Very entertaining. The wait is never too long, especially at slower times and if you have a reservation.

Last night was the first time I ate there without being seated for hibachi table, regardless the food was awesome!! From the start of the soup to the salad and everything after the food here is top of the line. Yes it's expensive but as your eating you understand what you paying for!!! Love this place, Plattsburgh NY, Nashua NH, and burlington VT all are worth a visit!

We come here often for special family occasions. This time was my step sons birthday. Our hibachi chef Paul was excellent his skills and showmanship are a great example of why we come back so often. He was very thoughtful when making our meal he knew that we were sharing some of our plate with our 5 y.o. and he made sure to give her some on her plate, she was delighted. Nicole our waitress was very attentive as well. Our children noticed their lemonade was a bit watery and she quickly offered to check the soda system as well as offering an alternative should the lemonade still prove to be insufficient. The new lemonade was great. Thank you for a great experience

This place is one of my go-to's for takeout nights! Tons of options for vegans and omnivores galore: hibachi, noodles, sushi, and of course dumplings, edamame... and sake if you're dining in. :) I always get the vegetable yaki udon (packed with flavor and variety--even shiitake mushrooms!) and the avocado rolls.

Service from our waytris wernt very good but the food was really good, waytris came to the table and she didn't know what the oz's of the meat they had on the menu was and when she went to look it took like 15 minutes for her to come back and tell us. But over all nice place to eat and nice to see people and the cooking over the hibachi grills.

Christmas Dinner 2021. First off thanks to Kyle for opening up this tradition to the entire family. I had hibachi shrimp. The kids ate so good, even my daughter tried Low mein for the first time ever and enjoyed it. The fish were a surprise delight. Whatever you do please do not let your waiter or waitress lose your credit/debit card....and for God sakes don't ask for a supervisor because he will speak very hostile towards you first and then say you were yelling at him if you was to even utter a word back at him. Good food, unprofessional customer service.....period.... Update: They found our credit card the next day and gave us a $40 gift card.

This is a place that knows how to run an efficient house- there were several large parties and they made it seem like each staff was twins with how they managed to be everywhere and attentive. The food was just as good as I remembered, tender chicken, crispy tempura, soft,flavorful rice and fish that just melts in the mouth.

Went for the Hibashi Bar. Were seated in the back of the restaurant, and for some reason, it didn't seem to be heated... in winter! It wasn't that cold outside, but it was definitely cold inside. And the bathroom was even worse! The chef showed some skill, but we'd been there before a couple years earlier and by our memory, the chef then was way more elaborate in his movements. This time, though pleasant, it seemed to have been kept to a minimum. The food was great, and actually affordable. We expected to pay a lot more. All in all, the experience was good. It could have been great if my spouse and young son hadn't had to put on their winter coats to keep warm.

We stopped in for sushi while in the area. Our kids ordered off of the hibachi menu and said it was good. I didn’t try any as my face was stuffed with delicious sushi! The building was a little warm, I guess due to the hot day. The server was polite, even though he was sweating, and seemed to be handling lots of tables on that Thursday night. We’d go again.

Run of the mill hibachi restaurant. Nothing special, nothing bad. Food was fine and prices and portions were on point with most other hibachi places that I’ve been to (in CT and NY). My reasoning for the 3 stars is due to the lack of effort the hibachi cook put into the experience. Guy did the onion volcano and that was it. If you’re going to charge $23+ for a simple to make meal at a ridiculously high mark up at least provide a proper hibachi grilling experience. That being said the food was just as good as any other hibachi place (although it is near impossible to mess that up) and the drinks were good. Would give another shot.

I enjoy sushi in groups, and often will stop for just a few pieces when I am alone and in need of supper. When I'm alone, as I was for this last visit, I sit at the sushi bar and watch them put together the different rolls, etc. and I enjoy that. The fish is always very fresh and of high quality, The sushi rice is always well-prepared and consistently good. The portions of fish are generous without being too much, and the service is always efficient and friendly. For me, the 4-piece sampler is sufficient, and I always leave full and satisfied.

Koto can be amazing or it can be mediocre, it depends on the night you go and who is cooking/serving drinks. I've had some of my best meals there, but sometimes the ingredients aren't as fresh. I'd like to know which day of the week is the best to go on. The staff are wonderful, and the bartenders are amazing. They always are generous with drinks and have some really creative cocktails.

The food here was wonderful. The service excellent and the atmosphere very nice. The seafood was done just right and served in a timely fashion. Its a fun place to eat if you want to watch them do their thing on the hibachi grills.

I had never been to hibachi grill dinner before. My wife and I share birthdays 10 days apart, so we made it our birthday dinner location with my in-laws. Very entertaining, as well as delicious food. They were able to accommodate our party of 4 and took on what looked like a larger group of almost 30 on very little notice ( I heard the hostess taking the last minute reservation on the telephone ). I work nearby and will also be stopping in for a lunch sushi special very soon.

Food is always excellent. I had a Fantastic roll, my wife had ramen. Just a few things though. The egg in the ramen wasnt soft boiled. My roll had no ginger or wasabi. Flavor was great, though!

Excellent sushi and friendly servers! I also order take-out at least once a week. (They have a full menu with tempura, hibachi and other cooked meals, too.) Kids love the koi pond! Side rooms for private parties are available.

This was a great experience. I tried a fried banana for the first time, my son tried fried ice cream and the others had cheese cake. Food was good and staff were so friendly. Would definitely go again.

The servers were great, but the food quality left something to be desired. If the food was just a bit better, I'd add another star. Again, the servers were very attentive and pleasant. Also, some on needs to speak to the hostess about appropriate work attire. She looked like a mess and was wearing clothes that not only were more appropriate for the gym, but did NOT suit her body type... which would nicely be described as pear-ish.

I rated this restaurant 5 stars because it is one of my favorite places to go grab sushi for lunch, or bring my friends to a nice dinner in the Burlington area. However, yesterday on a Sunday, I went to have lunch and was super unimpressed with the amount of time we had to wait. Coming from a restaurant business myself, I understand that there are busy times and impatient customers. Our experience yesterday consisted of being seated by the hostess, brought water by a busser and then waiting over 10 minutes for our waitress to even greet us, never-mind the 10 minute wait on drinks. Again, I do not mind waiting for anything as I understand business but the restaurant was not as busy as Ive seen it previously and there were about 4 tables seated in our waitresses section. This tells me that there was no communication between hostess and servers which is a problem. Because it was quite obvious the server had no idea we were there. For the amount of money that you pay to have a nice dining experience at Kotos, I would expect the tables, soy sauce bottles and bathrooms to be clean. Which they were not this time and I was all around unimpressed. My sushi however, was FANTASTIC! I just want a manager to see this and strive to do better like I KNOW YOU GUYS ARE! Best regards

My wife and I had reservations for our anniversary here. We had finished shopping about 45 minutes early and decided to see if we could be seated early. When we asked they had no problems getting us seated. To our enjoyment we received an entire hibachi table to ourselves. Dinner was amazing and we really appreciate how polite and nice the staff was.

Honestly, was okay. Had a decent visit. I love hibachi places. Normally I walk out saying to myself, that was fantastic. This time it didn't happen. Food was good. Just didn't have that "wow" factor. Staff were nice. A little disappointed. This place can be so much better.

Due to husband's Alzheimer's, we can't do dinner anymore but this was dinner at lunch. The food was excellent, the hibachi chef superb and entertaining. They even brought Steve a dessert with a candle to share and helped song Happy Birthday. You can have dinner at lunch - just not lunch at dinner

Great hibachi servers really put on a show. Dont be surprised when they start throwing food at you. Might catch you off guard. Overall it's an amazing place! Plus you get to see your food made right in front of you! Doesn't get any better than that!

Koto was delicious. Their tempura shrimp was awesome. I got the Ton Katsu and it was delicious. I couldn't finish it at the restaurant, but I ate it maybe half an hour later before bed. Boyfriend got the salmon/chicken teriyaki. The hibachi is a little loud once it starts going, but overall it was a nice experience. The wait staff is very pleasant and attentive, so I feel between the quality of food and the quality of workers they have, it's well deserving of the price.

It’s your basic American hibachi restaurant. Rude and bratty hosts are guaranteed. Servers are hit or miss, some are more experienced than others. The hibachi food is delish, and the cooks put on a great show! The sushi tastes great too, disappointed that every other roll is fried or has “crunch” in it. I guess they are just trying to appease their usual locals.

When I want hibachi in this area, I go to Koto. There's not much choice, so luckily Koto tends to deliver pretty well. Nothing is going to be amazing, but the chefs are fun and good with kids. Food is fine (salty). Good enough.

First time experiencing a Japanese Steak House. And definitely was a absolutely great experience. My waitress Agata was super friendly and cared for my seafood allergy. She went out of her way to make sure my food was cooked aside from the seafood and fish. She lead me in the right direction of what plates to order and everything was as good or even better then she had described. To say the least Koto will definitely be my go to "special occasion" restaurant and i will be recommending it to all my friends. Great Job!
