Reviews of Henry's Diner
Aneese Mahomed Hossen
First time visiting Burlington and my friends and i stumbled onto this exciting cozy diner. There was already a line up when i arrive about 10am but they were very well organized to register our names and waiting time was about 15 minutes.
The diner itself is really cute and you feel the all American vibe. Service was excellent, as it was our first time there, the waitress was very kind to help us around the menu.
The food was excellent, portion size was generous and the coffee was 100% excellent to start off on our day trip.
Sean Minear
Breakfast is my favorite meal in the road and I love searching out real diners. Henry’s did not disappoint! I got the Hungry Henry and it was exactly what I would expect from a good old fashioned dinner. It wasn’t busy so the food came out quick. The servers were all excellent and I think I chatted it up with every one at some point. I can’t wait to go back!

**AMERICA’S BEST DINER***
This place deserves an 11 out of a scale of 10. Everything here exceeds my expectations.
I’ve been to a lot of diners in my day, but this one is definitely one of the best. I highly recommend checking it out!

the food is above average, affordable and the service is fast. a lot of people seemed to get the unlimited coffee so we did as well. place is pretty crowded and there seems to be an expectation that you leave as soon as you’re done eating as there’s a line outside. if you’re looking for a brunch place to chill and have nice, private conversations, you should probably go somewhere else.

The food here was good. The portions was perfect for me. I ordered the "small Henry" and I thought that was alot of food. Loved the hot chocolate.
Ryan Underwood
I suggested giving this diner 5 stars and then my traveling companion (also named Henry, incidentally) said if you rate a diner that high, people will know you’re a pushover. Hence 4 stars. That said, we found this to be the sine qua non of a classic New England diner. Critically important was a robust cup of coffee (though not plentiful refills) paired with perfectly cooked eggs, sausage … AND tasty pancakes with VT maple syrup. The decor is charming and warm. And it doesn’t seem as trendy as Penny Cluse and Friendly Toast (a good thing in my book).
Momo Tran
Loved this place!! The muffin was delicious (it was a chocolate carrot cake muffin). Our food was really delicious too; the home fries were okay but we would absolutely come back! The staff is so kind overall!
Millie Obregon
I absolutely enjoyed this diner for breakfast. The eggs Benedict were well made with the hollandaise sauce tasting perfectly. Everything was made with love and they also have some yummy pumpkin pancakes and apple cider. I would definitely come back here.
Jessie Hryniuk
I absolutely adore Henry's. The absolute best staff, best food, coziest restaurant. We *always* go whenever my husband and I visit my family, if not make than once while we're there. Y'all are the best, thank you so much for all you do to feed the people!
The Critic
Adorable diner. This is a staple restaurant. Usually diner coffee is mediocre, but I really enjoy their coffee. The food tastes like a home cooked meal, straight out of grandmas kitchen. Food comes out fast, and there are very friendly servers. I recommend Henry’s Diner to all. Be aware of the time of day, it does get busy at certain hours of the day, but people usually clear out rather fast. Give them a try!

I’ve done a lot of travelling in my day, been to over half of the country, and this diner is simply the best. Whether I’m in Arizona, Florida, Ohio, etc nothing beats Henry’s. Simply the best food. Vermont has a very good diner scene, but this is the best of them all. Nowhere better in America, period.
Vimal Shah
Great old school dining experience and the food was excellent. Ignore the hours because Google has reported it incorrectly so I have tried to correct it. Right off Church Street too!
Beverly Popek
Classic, old school diner with an impressive assortment of generous portions of American and Greek offerings. Only open for breakfast and lunch.
Mike
Nostalgic diner inside and out.. Philly Cheesesteak omelet was great and the breakfast potatoes were delicious. The toast was thick, homemade bread. Waitstaff is very friendly and attentive with coffee refills. Would definitely come back.
Larry P
During our trip to Burlington, we had breakfast at Henry's diner on Friday and liked it enough to return on Saturday. I had the standard fried eggs and bacon, toast, hash browns. The eggs were large and perfectly done and the bacon was thick and crisp. The whole wheat toast was also thick and slathered with butter. My wife had an omelet which she enjoyed.
Despite it being the height of breakfast time, service was fast with no wait to get a table. Both days the wait staff were friendly and attentive.
The only downside was the two unisex bathrooms. I understand that Vermont requires restrooms to be marked as gender-neutral. Neither restroom contained a urinal. The problem with such an arrangement is that males routinely use the toilet as a urinal, only occasionally lifting the toilet seat. We males apparently have an inflated opinion about our aiming ability. As a result, there is generally urine left on the toilet seat and the floor. And, no surprise here, there was urine left pretty much everywhere in one of the restrooms. Obviously, this presents a problem for females trying to use the same restroom. Oddly, the unisex restroom nearest the receptionist area was perfectly clean.
John Dowling
Friendly staff and reasonable prices. Nice vibe inside. I will definitely return.
Tim Cosgrove
If you are looking for a diner or breakfast, definitely check this place out.
Delightful diner experience. The food was good diner food and the price was very welcome for the area.
Hiroikku Neko (Hironya)
It was average, mid tier, breakfast. I feel like it’s very dated in what they serve, and mediocre at best. I’ve been twice recently and I feel there are better places to eat in town. To be honest, American breakfast never really appealed to be, so I would give it a lower score but it’s also preference. Regardless, some places stand out more than others and this certainly isn’t one of them.
Cece Coleman
Food was solid, some items a tad bit salty. Loved the real maple syrup! Staff were pleasant.
James
No doubt one of the best breakfast spots I’ve ever been to. So good we stopped in again the following morning. Staff was extremely friendly and food phenomenal. Can’t go wrong but the Vermonter skillet was our favorite. Will be back for sure.
Lennart Lundblad
A real classic New England diner with everything you could wish for. Great crew, great hearty food and great ambiance.
Chris
Amazing breakfast at Henry's! It has an old school diner feel, staff was very welcoming and service was excellent. I had the Philly Cheese Steak Omelet, it was delicious. (I do recommend asking for the VT cheddar over the American cheese!)
Igor Melnik (Mind2BodyFitness)
Came here because it was recommended by so many people. Wait was only about 30 minutes for Saturday morning breakfast. TOTALLY worth it. Love the menu and even more love the atmosphere. The rich history adds to the excellent experience.
Dr. Chris
Small diner in a high risk city... The service was great, parking was a nightmare, food was tasty (however the bacon is precooked, so when adding it to home fries or omelets it's very crispy). Overall, highly recommend but take precautions whether just self awareness or follow the 2ndA.
Daniel McDonough
Couldn't love this place more. There was a bit of a wait, but totally worth it. Super friendly staff, old school diner vibe, and delicious food. I got the Vermonter skillet with corned beef hash, cheddar cheese, home fries, and eggs. It was a feast! Everyone in my party enjoyed their breakfast. Also, they had great, thick cut bread (I tried the sourdough and wheat which were both great). Felt like they were doing a very good job following safety protocols as well. Fantastic
Sandra Wagner
Popped in here for a quick breakfast and we were pleasantly shocked to receive the absolute best chicken fried steak in existence!!! The Rye toast was amazing and had the most delicious butter on it omg.
I’m going to have to walk at least 20000 steps to work off this delicious meal and I don’t even care! Worth it!!
David Bryan
Love the classic 1950/60s feel to the place with the soundtrack of the times playing above. Hands down best classic diner food in Burlington and surrounding areas. Good ol' stick to your ribs kinda food. Large portions to boot. The biscuits and gravy and anything with the corned beef hash never fail.
Katelyn Smith
Came in this morning for some delicious breakfast. We got the little meal with the pancakes. Made our pancakes pumpkin flavored Tis is the season. Also got one of your delicious meat skillets. Jen was our server. She answered all questions and gave recommendations . And gave us great places to check out while in vt
Goody
Absolutely amazing food. Our gyro platter was something we will be back for again. The staff was more than welcoming and very attentive even though it was our waitresses first day. Stop and enjoy.....you wony be disappointed.
John Ferraro
Best sausage gravy I have had in years. Top 7 including grandma's recipes. It's the best greasy spoon i have been to in the East US in my whole life.
Crazy Man
The food is great! I love it cuz it the name of my cat and that makes me happy
Brian
Open for distanced indoor dining. Quaint, small town atmosphere with kind staff. Clean surfaces, appropriate social distancing practices in place and menus offered via QR code. Totally worth stopping by (several times) for a bite!
Aaron Mell
Our first time visiting.
Service was very quick, and our server did a good job.
I had the greek eggs benedict, and they were pretty good. The gyro meat on it was really flavorful. I also had the seasonal egg nog shake, and it was delightful.
My wife had the hot cider, which was also quite nice. She had a banana bread waffle, and it was good as well, even though it seemed like a normal waffle with fresh banana on top.
We will likely eat there again at some point, as we both love Greek food.
Sarah Loewer Terio
Our group agreed the sausage was good but pancakes were without flavor. Coffee was good. Nice large booths but the music was a but loud and annoying.
Jeff Yates
Good breakfast food. Potatoes were very overcooked. $1.50 for a teaspoon of (Vermont) maple syrup served in a paper ramekin was absurd. How is one to know it wasn't some store bought brand?
Ethan Lamothe
Small place so it was a bit crowded, the waitres was extremely nice, offered specials and was quick. The hot apple cider was amazing and it paired nice with my Henry's breakfast
Bailey West
The food was really great and the place was hopping. Front door staff were super rude though. Try the Friendly Toast in Burlington instead, or go to Athen's diner.
Kimberly McGowan
We love Henry’s diner! This is our first time here since the new rules, and they are doing a great job. It was a wonderful breakfast as always, and a great value.
Mathieu McKoy
Amazing breakfast! Good old dinner that is everything you expect it to be and more I assure you. 6 Stars if I could.
Zachary Hubbell
I’d eat breakfast here every day of the week, if I could! Delicious!
This American-style diner seems like the real deal! The chicken fried steak and eggs hits the spot.
Service is friendly and the restaurant is clean!
Andrew Kaufmann
I have been meaning to go here since I first visited Burlington but for some reason that I cannot explain I didn't go in. Having been for a visit today I cannot understand why I didn't go in before. This place is awesome. For someone coming from the UK seeing this small authentic American diner is a great experience. The staff are very nice and helpful and the food is superb. Everything seems to run like clockwork and you can feel that the staff enjoy their job which makes for a nice atmosphere
I felt very much at home and loved every minute of my experience. A little gem of a place!!!!
Aliza Amsden
Make sure you go early so you can get a table!
The diner was packed and we still got the best service we have gotten out to eat in a long time.
We got our food in less than 10 min!! Everything was correct despite the large amount of food we ordered. And the portions were huge! The waitress was super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed right away!
Definitely plan on returning!
Chad Mestel
Fantastic! Our breakfasts were so tasty! Staff were so friendly, as well. Our timing was ideal. We were seated right away and food came out very quickly. Soon afterwards, another wave of customers arrived and all of the tables were full. Charming environment with lots of regulars. Skipped our hotel breakfast; and so glad that we did. Can't wait to come back. Gotta try another shake flavor. The maple shake was *chef's kiss* (Also grabbed a couple of Henry's Dinner sodas to go.)
Peter S
Went there for breakfast and it was absolutely wonderful!!!! Had great French Toast with a generous delicious portion of ham. Waitress and server were very nice. Loved the place!!!!
Joyce Gong
Delicious! We went when there was no wait but usually there is a long wait. Definitely give it a try!
Aaron Turgeon
Great atmosphere. Had the Irish eggs benny's, best I've ever had.
Alyssa Griffin
My fiance' and I just had an amazing breakfast and coffee at Herny's Diner! The atmosphere was warm and 50's styled classy. And our waitress was Super nice and friendly! We felt warm and welcome the whole meal and just had an amazing experience overall. I highly recommend going to Henry's Diner if you ever visit Burlington, VT. 😊 …
Drew S
Everything we ordered was fantastic, taste was on point and you could tell everything was fresh. Our waitress was so nice and gave great service.
Kimberly N
Classic, clean, small diner. Great burgers and shakes. Excellent coleslaw. Fast service. We loved it.
Sophie Forest
The best breakfast place in town and honestly potentially ever. The eggs Benedict is unmatched, but nothing ever disappoints. Staff is always lovely as well. Cannot recommend enough.
Shane Coles
Greasy spoon diner for American style comfort food. Has a lovely Greek flair with delicious shaved meets too. The gyro was great, as was my gfs crab Benedict.
Patrick Collins
Had the specials, egg plant breakfast sandwich and egg plant grilled cheese. They hit the spot. Everything was good. And the staff was super friendly, will be back
Ryan Gallagher
Great food and it came super fast! The waitress was really friendly. It’s a cool looking diner inside too!
Samantha Osborne
It was a nice little diner. Portions are large. Clean. I loved learning about the history of the diner.
Steven Adams
Delicious food, fast! Shout out to our waitress Beth! She was super fast, friendly and a wealth of local information!
William Favreau
Great, friendly service. It was noon but got my delicious food very fast so I could enjoy my afternoon.
Kenneth M Martin Jr
The food was amazing. Our waitress messed up our order three different times. Can’t blame that on the restaurant or the cooks. It was well worth the wait for the food. The Apple Cinnamon Waffle with whipped cream and skillet breakfasts were Awesome!!
John R Kennedy
We went in for an early Saturday breakfast and were quickly seated in a booth and had hot coffee in front of us within minutes. The server was friendly, cheerful and efficient – and our orders arrived quickly. We were pleased with the portions and quality of the food. (Only complaint was the woman who cashed us out seemed kind of grumpy.) One of the best breakfast experiences in a long time! Highly recommended.
Zeb Stern
I came up to Vermont for a wedding of a dear friend. I thought my weekend here in Burlington couldn’t get any better. Boy was I wrong.
Stumbling upon Henry’s Diner was an utter joy. From the ambiance, to the kind servers, to the aroma of French toast and maple syrup, this diner packs a major punch. The chicken fried steak and gravy was truly a religious experience. The corn beef hash was flavorful and perfectly balanced. This may be one of the finest diners I have come across in all my years.
Thank you Henry,
Zeb
Kirk Johanning
Great "old school" diner. Had the omelet special and it was delicious! Highly recommend!
Israel Ruiz
Nice local place, super friendly and great food. Not overpriced as other places.
Michael Bogin
Fantastic place to go for breakfast or lunch. You'll wait on the weekend most of the time, but walked right in and sat last time we were there. Great coffee .. Buy one of the classic diner style mugs to bring home for your collection!
Jun Simons
I came here on a cold December morning in a rush to go backstage at the Flynn. My coffee was great and I grabbed a muffin to go. The rest of my party stayed and had omlettes that I hear were very good.
I regret that I could not have stayed longer, but the 6 minutes I spent here were enough to understand that this is a charming little diner that contrasts nicely with the rest of the area.
Stuart Myers
Great atmosphere great food. Though very busy, Betty took great care of us! Thanks Henry’s for y’all’s hard work!
Markus M.
Greatest diner in Burlington. It is an old-fashioned diner, just like in movies and TV shows. Best breakfast I've had in a while. They only serve breakfast, which is sad, but it's always super good. There was a bit of a wait, so that's how you know its good. Amazing diner, definitely will go there again.
Michael Anthony
Great place for breakfast. Got us in with a short wait. Had an excellent server. I ordered the farmhouse omelet. It came with some delicious Vermont cheddar cheese string potatoes (didn't know i was getting these). Good value, good food, good service, good standards. If your looking for a dinner, look no further.
David Agrez (Slayinger)
The meal that I had (pancakes) was standard, the wait to be seated was short and the wait for food was shorter. Overall the food of my companions was much better than mine. I suggest coming early in the morning with your friends and family for a unique experience in this 1950's themed diner.
Sam Reese
Very cute diner, small but friendly.
Juan Yascaribay
We had a great lunch, first time in Burlington, VT. The service was great and the food, as well.
Hoping to come back soon.
Sarah Johnson
Great food. I ordered a gyro and it was delicious. Boys had pancakes that were out of this world
Ron Blois
Great food, good prices, can be very busy around lunchtime.
Ashley Jo-jo-joa
Delicious! Even the coffee was great! The corned beef hash was a unique treat, I recommend it.
P. Kahn
Perfect breakfast spot. Great service and great food in a classic setting. Coffee is good too!
vee see
Fast and friendly and reasonable price. Thank you for this morning. They were busy.
Craig Luther
Good food. Only reason I can’t give five stars, low ceilings. Maybe it’s just me being too tall.
Vinson Camacho
Great service! Wait time was long, but worth it. Pancakes were fluffy and wonderful.
Milan H
This is a diner with a capital D. If you love that kind of place (which I do) don’t pass on it. Good food and ok service
Seth Morabito
Pancakes, hands down best pancakes I ever had. Good and service was great.
Paul
Service and food were fantastic 👏 Huge portions too. Strongly recommended. …
Noah Gootkind

jessica recinos

Jake
One of the best breakfasts in Burlington everytime.
Linda Madden-Brenholts
Delicious cream of mushroom soup and mocha milkshake!
Paul
THE BREAD IS AMAZING! Food is fresh and flavorful and portions are great. Very clean and well lit inside. Adequate space and options. Very satisfied
togarwan
Food was good, service was lacking. But would eat here again.
Lesley Braga
Not much in the way of vegan options but if you are vegetarian you can feast! They have veggie sausages (which i think are the morning star ones) that you can get with anything. The homefries are salty deliciousness, pancakes are fluffy, coffee is standard diner coffee, eggs can be cooked your way.
The staff is absolutely lovely. We are there 2 mornings in a row.
Mark P.
Absolutely incredible place, some of the best food I've ever had and undoubtedly the best eggplant I've ever had. My delicious shake came with a metal cup that let me completely refill the glass one and a half times, the service was quick and with a smile, you must try this place if you are in Burlington.
Fr. Clement Dickie, OP
Classic diner experience. Great service delicious food, very fast.
Randall Sawyer
Henry's Dinner was awesome--great food, great service and great customers. It is an old style diner that makes the start of your day a bit brighter. I recommend the choclate shake made with vanilla ice cream, the swiss and mushroom burger and the blueberry pie mught be the best I have ever had!
Brenda Weir
Phenomenal experience here. Great staff, super friendly. My party arrived ten minutes until close, so we planned on going somewhere else, but the Henry’s crew welcomed us with open arms and didn’t make us feel rushed. The food is to die for. Easily the best gyros in Vermont. You are doing yourself dirty if you don’t get the chocolate milkshake as well. Will definitely come back the next time I’m in town!
Martin Jones
Eating at Henry's feels like eating in my grandma's kitchen. The food is delicious.
Colin Reardon
I've been going to Henry's diner since 2015. I had a job as a mailman and loved eating there. I moved to CA in 2017, was there till 2021, and then moved back to VT. I walked into Henry's, and the waitresses remembered who I was and what I had ordered 4 years ago. The plac3 is truly a treasure, now that I'm back, I plan to drop by on a regular basis. If you dont care for this diner, just know that you're the problem.
AnnMarie Bermudez-Medina
The diner is small, but has a warm vibe. Waitress was friendly and attentive. Had breakfast item called the Little Henry. It was good and very filling. Overall good experience.
Mary Fortin
Many generations of our family have enjoyed this diner. Good food at good prices. It's like going home when we visit Burlington, Vt.
Elliott Dupont
Henry's is classic American diner food done extremely well every time. The service here is usually excellent as well. Easily one of the best breakfast places in Burlington, though they can get exceedingly busy and have limited seating.
Nathan Kristoff
Incredibly fast service, great food, and very reasonable price.
Danielle Swett
Food was delicious! 😋 and friendly waiter as well
Debra Blum
Nice community atmosphere! Very busy! Friendly! Rachel sandwich is YUMMY!
Jovan Ramirez
I definitely liked the food. Pancakes were fluffy as I like, and everything was cooked perfectly. Only reason I gave 4 stars is because I haven't had a chance to dine in yet.
Edwin Rivera, Jr.
One of my longtime local favorite restaurants. Rachel is a 'gem!' Very personable and always serves you with a smile.
Angie Pearson
Food was phenomenal who doesn't love getting breakfast at any time of day however the Google Website is wrong they are open until 2:PM
Brittni Desmarais
The staff was friendly and made sure our food was delivered promptly. The food was delicious. We would definitely go back.
Jillian
Make sure to call ahead well in advance for seating. The food was average. Although I do recommend the Loaded Home Fries Plate. Portions sizes are generous. Our waitress wasn't the friendliest.
Lauri Scharf
Very friendly staff and tasty dishes, including some interesting Greek options. Standard diner decor. Very reasonable prices.
Lisa Jones
The coffee was wonderful, the employees were warm and attentive, but not overly attentive! Which I feel is important. The food we had for breakfast was very good!
EL
Original type dinner. Great burgers and big ol' onion rings. Friendly atmosphere and service.
Traci Bidwell
Great place. Great homemade food and bread. Highly recommend
Anthony R.

Good breakfast. Nice folks. Good service
Brett Beachner
We had a wonderful breakfast and the staff was very accommodating we had a stroller which they allowed us to set it aside rather them putting it in our booth. The food was amazing and we truly enjoyed ourselves. Thanks so much highly recommend
Henry Cummings
Outstanding local restaurant. Had biscuits and gravy, was EXCELLENT. Lots of history there, almost 100 years. Staff was attentive and personable. 100% will visit again.
JOHN ANDREW CIPRIANO
if you live in or around downtown burlington, you've got to make your way to Henry's Diner on Bank Street. Henry's is a blast from the past - and not in that silly fake-retro way that so many restaurants like to utilkize these days - but in a real way b/c Hnery's DIner has been around forever! I honestly dont think the menu has eveer changed but that's okay b/c the food is great! OPen from 6 am until 2 pm, its really a breakfast/brunch place but there's no where better for a vegetable omeltte or a big plate of all kinds of breakfast meat! If you're hungry and you're downtown, Hnerey's is the place to go
Josh Langevin
Great music, great atmosphere and friendly service. They have a handicapped door button for those who need assistance! The bar here is great! And breakfast all day! Great food! And Bernie Sanders himself eats here!!!!! If your in Burlington you have to try it out!
Jeremy Swartz
This is a very popular local diner. If you show up for breakfast or lunch on the weekend be prepared for a wait. The pastrami sandwich was very good. It was not too salty which can be an issue with some pastrami. The apple Fritter Pancakes were tasty but could have used a bit something. Not sure what but they needed something extra, maybe cinnamon. The wait staff is very friendly and personable.
Donovan Hua
Lovely real diner atmosphere! The food is great and has very large portions. Lots of fun old school diner aesthetic, plus milkshakes and soda in glass bottles to boot!
It is small, and on a busy day there may be a wait. But even sitting at the bar is a great experience!
Brenda Simpson
A great diner food was amazing! We all got the little Henry!
Ryan Donnelly
This is a great dinner and the food is always good. Betty was my server and she did an amazing job.
Erin A
What you hope for in a diner. Good people and good food.
Bernard Mahon
Outstanding American diner experience. great breakfast (emphasis on traditional), wonderful coffee (that kept coming), a lovely ambience. Two standout features- first the friendly staff- like being back in time, second the clientele- friendly working folk, all chatting and swapping jokes. I will come back!
Indrani Basu
Cute little diner with fast service and yummy home fries. Love the atmosphere and the vintage feel.
Jonah Moos
Ordered the veggie eggs Benedict. The home fries were outstanding, eggs perfect and the coffee was excellent. The hollandaise sauce needed a little more kick, maybe some lemon would have been good. Service was very professional and personable. Would definitely come back to.
Alexander Nachaj
Great place with vintage diner decor and atmosphere. They know how to cook eggs and serve amazing diner coffee (even decaf). Can be a bit pricey, but it's a definite treat and one spot I hit any time I'm in Burlington.
Linda Morris
Good, old fashion diner food. Breakfast served all day. Had grilled ham and cheese on rye. Yummy ! According to UVM students, a highly recommended eatery to experience. Milkshakes were fabulous according to my 2 companions who ordered them (chocolate malt for one; maple for the other). Sorry I didn't think to take a photo.
Danara Cayea
Delicious!! Had the Vermonter Skillet and did not regret it. Hash was amazing and the eggs were cooked perfect. The English muffin was one of the best I've had. A great classic breakfast spot and I would be happy to return.
Matt Keefe
Nice atmosphere. Service was friendly & fast. Big menu with lots of great choices. Good option for gluten sensitive people.
Aaron Silber
I got corned beef hash with two eggs. Eggs cooked exactly as requested, corned beef was tender but not mush, homefries crispy but not dry. Staff was polite and attentive. Great value for some excellent diner food! Was *very* busy at 1pm on a Saturday.
Roland Schitt
Classic American comfort food that is prepared to your liking. Warm friendly staff who are always eager to refill your coffee mug or ask how your day is going. Henry’s diner is a local legend, a historical site, and a rare gem in today’s fast paced, social media crazed plastic world. Head down to Henry’s diner today for a sizzling Vermonter, a slice of mudslide pie, and a cup of hot coffee. Your day will begin just so much better...
Geo B
Great breakfast and great atmosphere. Staff was attentive and friendly.
Tom Foolery
Excellent greasy spoon diner. Ate here twice on my last visit. Everything was hot and freshly cooked. Highly recommended.
Jack Steinharter
If I ever meet Henry I will probably kiss him on the mouth
elin duffy
The diner was really quaint. We had breakfast and it was excellent! Our waitress was very nice.. It was very busy so get there early.... Enjoy...
Donald Mayotte
We love Henry's Diner good food great service
Garrett Holman
Great breakfast! I like to rate my diners based on 3 things: coffee, home fries, and bread and Henry's diner absolutely nails all 3. I recommend the skillets but it's hard to go wrong with anything you order
Kaitlyn Jennings
My husband and I ate breakfast here on our last morning in Burlington. They were busy, but the service was still very good. Out of the three breakfasts we had in Burlington, this was by far our most favorite. My husband got chicken fried steak and he absolutely loved it, and I had the corned beef hash skillet which was phenomenal. The environment was great, prices were good, and the food was excellent!
Mark Stein
I really like this place. It's classic diner food like shakes, burgers, and fries, in a classic diner setting. The club sandwich is just about perfect. And I have consistently found the overall experience to be far above average. Very hard working and efficient staff, and always super nice to everyone as far as I can tell.
Charles
This place aint foolin around when it comes to their home fries!! The other menu items I had (a biscuit, omelet, plems) were good too! But I remember those home fires like they were yesterday
Mark Madison
Like many folks I love diners. And while it's true that not all diners are created equal Henry's is in a class all by itself. Of course you can point to the food as the reason why and you wouldn't be totally wrong. The food is out of this world. We get breakfast there every chance we get. On Sunday mornings, especially when schools are in session, come early. But don't hesitate to wait for a table or even a counter seat. It'll be worth it.
But I think the real credit goes to the waitstaff. You can tell if a diner really loves being a diner by the waitstaff. This diner has the finest waitstaff you will ever find. They have personality and a real love for their work. I have seen them at the pass checking every dish so carefully I doubt they ever bring a customer anything but what they ordered and how they ordered it. Ladies, you are magnificent. I could watch the kitchen crew all day. They are masters. Henry's Diner! Long may it wave.
Noah “gamefire” D'Alessio
Excellent coffee and food, everything was just great. Would absolutely recommend for breakfast or anytime.
Ariana Milazzo
Great vibe, great food. This was the first local place we found, and the yellow decor brightened up a sad trip for us.

There is usually a reason why eating establishments don't get five stars, whether it's for bad service, inedible or disappointing food, bad service, or long wait Tim. While visiting my son, we were informed by my son in law that this was a great place to eat. On a very cold Saturday, the line was long and the efficient staff was moving guests along to accommodate all patrons. A twenty minute wait was the only thing that might have inspired me to give four stars, but once seated we had great service and amazing food. Thanks Henry's for being a first rate diner!
katarina
Great breakfast place. Good service.
Olivia Corkins
Easily one of my favorite Vermont diners. I have never had any of the lunch items because their breakfast is so darn tasty. If you are in the Burlington area and are looking for good food. I would point you in their direction.
Jeff Bowers
Good food, good prices, awesome staff members.
Joseph NewYork
Old School Diner with a large assortment of food. Great Ice Cream Shakes!
Nick Lee
The food here is always good. It tastes great and fills you up for a very reasonable price. The staff are incredibly energetic and friendly. The service has always been fast at the morning hours that I've visited at. Over all great place, good food, good service and good prices.
Kelvin Chan
This review is long overdue. I have been to Henry's for a few times and Henry's never disappoints me. It remains my first choice for breakfast because of friendly and more importantly efficient staff, wonderful homemade food particularly corned beef hash, and the old diner atmosphere. I even brought my wife's family there when they visited us from Hong Kong. Sometimes you need to wait because Henry's popular. I recommend going there before 8:15am Sunday morning to beat the crowd.
Tianna Kerg
This place is so delicious. I got the Santorini sandwich. The bread was so buttery and tasty I would have eaten an entire loaf of it. The cheese was just strong enough and the hash browns we're probably the best I've had anywhere. So good. Makes me want to live in Vermont just to eat there. And their prices are pretty decent too, much more small town diner.
Nia W
Weekend wait times can be a drag, but not any worse than other places of the same ilk. The wait is totally worth it though, excellent food, freshest ingredients and the specials are always great. Even when they are totally swamped the waitstaff are great and the sweetest diner waiters you'll meet.
Don Bennett
Brought one of ours sons across the lake to the Burlington airport for a 5am flight, and being hungry for an early breakfast brought us to Henry's because they open at 6am, (earliest diner in Burlington). Doors opened at exactly 6am. Expected a run down local place with grumpy people and greasy food. What we got was SO much more!
It was bright, clean, well-kept and kitschy! The waitress, (sorry I forgot your name), called us friend, sat us immediately, was super pleasant and likable, and was very good at her job. Just a pleasure to deal with.
The tall cook in the back makes GREAT food. Fresh, hot, well cooked, and well arranged. Not your typical flat-top hash slinger, obviously.
I had a cheese omelet, home fries, thick bacon, and super thick sourdough toast. Wife had pancakes the size of the plate, and bacon as well. My son had the same as us COMBINED! (He's 6'4" and can really pack it away!) Coffee was delicious, too.
The whole experience was a real treat!
Gregory Gaul
First visit for me. Will definitely return. More than ample diner menu. Nice selection of Greek dishes. Service staff pleasant and efficient. Good value. Breakfast (very hardy) served all day. Highly rated Burlington establishment.
scott lehr
Breakfast was fantastic. I stopped by the next day for a Lobster Roll, and it was fabulous.
Rich Bard
Driving back from a trip to Montreal and stopped here for breakfast. This place was amazing and the food was off the charts. Real dinner food. I had to try the milk shake even those it was 8 in the morning so worth it. Must stop.
Rowan Livingston
I have always recieved excellent service here. You get a pretty good amount of food for your money and it's definitely worth it. Not only are the portion sizes great, but the food itself is great, too. Even when it's been busy, I've never waited long to be served and the wait staff had always been very friendly and cheerful, even when it's clear that it's busy to the point of being stressful. Definitely 5/5.
Dan Jackson
Nice and friendly staff. Great food. Authentic breakfast diner. Pancakes as big as the plate and fluffy, toast nice and thick, big strips of bacon. Lunch menu has a lot of authentic Greek offerings to choose from.
Faith Mancuso
Classic breakfasts but done perfectly. It's an institution in Burlington for a reason. Aside from good sized portions of great breakfasts, they also have amazing milkshakes. Must visit!
Randall Ewing
On my return trip from Montreal I decided to stop into Burlington. It was early and I was hungry. Once I parked I stumbled upon Henry's I knew I had to stop there. It looks like one of those 1950's era diners you see in the movie and the interior matches. The menu had every thing breakfast and lunch item you'd find in New Jersey. I was quite impressed. I ordered the Spinach and Vermont cheddar cheese omelet with a side of home fries and Marbled Rye Pumpernickel toast. What a treat that was. The service was fast efficient and I never had to ask for a refill on my coffee or water. I plan on returning this summer for another visit.
Tim
Went to breakfast on a Sunday morning, 30 minute wait. But well worth it. Pumpkin pancakes = amazing. Portions were seriously big. Staff hustled and were really attentive.
Kristopher Garcia
Amazing!!! Quick service...great staff. The food was go die for!
Eric Bloom
Henry's is a great diner located on Bank St. in downtown Burlington close to the Church Street marketplace. I have been here multiple times when visiting the city and each time the food was great and the staff very friendly. You can either sit at the counter or get a table, depends on your preference. Sometimes there is a wait to get a table or seat (especially around lunchtime) but it is well worth it. Highly recommended.
Justin C (Nixguy)
Coffee is good. The decor is that of the 50s and is nice. The food is really great, I enjoy the skillets. It's normally crowded so be prepared to wait if you go during prime time.
Bill O'Connor
If you're looking for a great old school diner breakfast and experience, there may not be a better spot in New England than Henry's.
Great food, great service, great ambience and atmosphere.
Jenifer Gardner
AMAZING food, awesome coffee, equally amazing service, really cool atmosphere. I could never say enough good things. We travelled from New York to Vermont to Maine and finally to Boston. Henry's was the first breakfast stop of our trip and I've been daydreaming about it ever since.
Samantha Cronin
Really good, feels like a Burlington classic. Everything was really yummy but pass on the veggie omelette (tasted like nothing, needed a lot of hot sauce) instead I'd tell my boyfriend to get anything in a skillet or the eggs benedict. Notice I'm still giving it 5 stars because my meal was on point!
Thomas0so0kool Bracken
Very nice small town diner worth a visit.
Jill Waroff
Food was delicious. I had the turkey lunch special with the endless NE Clam Chowder. My hubby had the tuna on rye. We took a piece of Boston Cream pie to go. Yummy!
Bones Jones (CowSoap)
Owned by Athens, similar menu, great breakfast options
Keely Murdock
Delicious food. Strongly recommend the Little Henry: 2 eggs of your choice, your choice of ham, sausage or bacon, homefries, french toast or pancakes, as well as toast, English muffin, or biscuit. The employees are friendly, giving the atmosphere a homey feel.
Steffie Pinay
It's a cute place. Food was delicious. Make sure you are hungry, serving portion was big for me :) (Burger steak whole meal )
Kathleen Bielecki
Very cute and cozy. Traditional diner feel. Small. Great prices and amazing food. The French onion soup is a favorite and their corned beef hash is amazing! Made with rraly shredded corned beef.
Debbie Parisien
Awesome breakfast is very old setting.
Great service.
Omelets were very good.
Luis Sigaran Jr
Ate breakfast while i was up here for work. The food is amazing, the hostess the friendliest, the atmosphere great. I highly recommend choosing this establishment for your breakfast needs. You will not regret it!
Adriana Zavala
Food was awesome! Prices were higher than I would have expected, but they do make up for it in portion size. I have been several times and I highly reccomend thier breakfast. If you like big breakfast plates then you will enjoy it too.
Faith Rousseau
Really cute diner. Tons of different food options and they're usually great with changing the menu to fit your needs. Inexpensive. There is usually always a bit of wait. The longest we've waited was 20 mins tho which isn't that bad.
Andrew Swift
Classic diner in downtown Burlington. A must for diner fans seeking authenticity. Breakfast is key, and the menu doesn't disappoint. Atmosphere is genuine, although space is at a premium. Great experience and convenient for morning shoppers and tourists alike!
Melissa Campbell
My boyfriend and I make it a point to visit Henry's nearly every weekend. Consistently friendly staff, satisfying, home cooked, comfort food. The milkshakes have large portion sizes, as well. Small diner, not meant for groups larger then 5 or 6. Never had to wait longer than 20 minutes for a party if 2-3.
Nichole Link
Diner style food but better quality. Friendly staff and overall just a corky old restaurant. Also is a historical site which has some pretty neat history behind it. A must see if you’re a local or just passing through. Particularly a fan of the Irish eggs Benedict.
Joe Wehry
The Henry Jr is a great value. We like getting it with veggie sausages. Fast, friendly service keeps the food moving. If there's a wait for tables, generally there's room at the counter, so check that out too.
Zoe Portlas
I've been here twice so far and haven't been disappointed either time. Both times, the service was good and the restaurant itself has a really cute diner feel. I've had breakfast and a burger and I would recommend both. I'll have to try one of the Greek platters!
Leland Edwards
Found this on our second morning ! We ate here every morning after for a week! The breakfast is absolutely the very best! Service Excellent! The Chickenfried steak amazing! The Corned beef made in house is WOW so good! The big beautiful buttermilk biscuits! Made me weak! Served with Cabot butter! The special hasbrown casserole on weekends amazing! Pancakes and of course Vermont syrup!I will be back next visit to Burlington!
Charlie Hadden
Proper diner experience for the visitor to the US.
jennifer warner
Always awesome food and great service
Jay Furr
Amazing diner-style food. Best biscuits and gravy in Vermont. Friendly, competent waitresses. A small gnome named "Boaz" who lives in the ceiling back near the restrooms. The line out the door of people waiting to get in should tell you how good it is.
Mike Magnuson
The wait was long but that's to be expected at a popular diner. The food was amazing as always. The wait staff are awesome and aleays make sure you have a great experience there. I recommend this place to everyone.
Josef Langevin
Consistently the best food I’ve had while in Burlington. The wait you’ll have will be completely forgotten when you take your first bite of food. The only problem is the low ceiling, so make sure you watch your head.
Dan Harasty
Wonderful classic breakfast place with cheery decor and even cheerier waitstaff. All the breakfast basics, done very well.
Troy Carr
I have been to Henry's at least a dozen times. I've never had a bad meal there. The atmosphere and food is always very, very good. The wait staff is awesome as well.
Samantha Thompson
The food was so good! But the staff is even better, so much personality and so hard working. Danielle was my server and I could not be happier. I will be back for all my breakfast needs!
Owen Sellers
We went here twice in our time in Burlington and both experiences were amazing. The staff were very nice and funny. The food was absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend coming here. The wait wasn't bad at all.
Jeremiah Roberts
Every time we go the food is great. Wait staff always has good attitude and always has whitty comebacks for my partner.
Jessica Brooks
I loved this place. The best vegetarian eggs Benedict I've ever had. The diner feel is fun, and the waitresses were awesome. Prices were good too.
Krishna Ragunathan
Had the sausage, biscuits and gravy + root beer float. Excellent food, the scrambled eggs was more like a torn up omelette was but still great. Good service.
Richard Martin
Great old school diner. Breakfast was great and service was quick. This is my new favorite spot for breakfast.
Shannon T
My favorite place in Burlington so far. The food was amazing and high quality, the service was excellent and quick and the prices are affordable. It’s the cutest little diner with such a nice family feel to it. Highly Recommend.
Cole Phelps
Henry's is THE breakfast place in burly. Literally order anything off the menu and buckle up!
If only they stayed open later 😭
Kavi Raj Joshi
I had my first meal (lunch) at Henry's Diner. It was great in taste and all of my friends loved it. Good value for money. Appreciate their chocolate and strawberry pies.
Cory H
Henry's was the ideal diner experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and the food delicious. Prices were reasonable as well. A great stop whether you're a long time resident or just visiting.
Zayra Correa
I had breakfast here twice during my visit. The vermonter skillet and the hungry henry (with french toast) are both excellent choices. The servers were polite and efficient.
Craig Pollack
I recently started eating Paleo. Ivy, my waitress was aware of what I could not eat. I ordered a broccoli, mushroom, cheddar Omelette - - - hold the cheddar. Kitchen got it wrong, but Ivy caught it and sent it back. I chose a side of bacon instead of hash Browns and tomatoes instead of toast. Vermont coffee was amazing. Wish they had almond milk, oh well. A little half and half won't kill me. Finished my brunch with a fresh fruit plate-melon, orange, pineapple, berries. Ivy was so gracious to replace my strawberry which I thought was too bruised for my liking. Overall, I am happy I chose Henry's Diner. I am not from Burlington. But would love to come back on a future visit.
Donna Danforth
Breakfast all day long and it's always awesome!! Absolutely love this place!!
Tim Browne
If your looking for a traditional American diner experience this is the place to come. A short wait for a table at lunchtime having just rocked up. The food was just what we were hoping for. Staff were very helpful.
Tim Arnold
Im from jersey... Diner capital of the world... And I've always said the two best diners ever are in Burlington VT. The Galaxy and Henry's.... Sadly the galaxy is no longer a classic dinner... So Henry's resides at the absolute top of the heap for food, diner vibe, service and general awesomeness. Yay Henry's!!!!
Keisha Barclay
Great food and old school waitresses who know what they’re doing. We were in and out and they followed great COVID precautions as well. Wish they had outdoor seats for when you’re waiting for a table.
Chet Schwartz
Great good. Old school style diner, with a friendly attentive staff.
Grandfather Whitebuck
Been several times and the food is Awesome!! Great service and Staff!! Standard faire with a Greek Twist! I was in Greece while in the USAF and the food reminded me of the local tavernas in the Island of Crete.. excellent food! Me and my Fiancee have been several times and will go again!
Cheri Dolphyn

Ian Downie
Awesome spot with friendly staff, bottomless coffee, and good food. Get the Santorini sandwich.
Ralph W
Excellent food and friendly staff and even local residents of Burlington, VT
John Appleseed
Only place in town I've found with actual simply cooked turkey, not luncheon meat, in the turkey sandwich. So refreshing.
Good coffee, great breakfasts, served quickly.
Dean Jerry
I recently went through a psychotic break due to cannabis and after 5 days of pure hell, the Irish eggs Benedict with biscuits and grave had me feeling like myself again
Julia Buffo
This place is cute with an easy going staff and delicious diner options! I loved the pancakes. We will definitely be back.

You don't have to travel far for a good diner meal.
The inimitable Henry’s Diner has been a Burlington staple since the late 1960’s. Currently the restaurant is closed for renovations and updating. The plan is to have everything up and running before the students return in mid- August. That is a good thing as nothing last forever and periodic deep cleaning and upgrading to current specs works in everyone’s best interest. Owned by the consortium that includes the Apollo Diner in Milton, Athena Diner in St. Albans and Athens Diner in Colchester, Henry’s is a well run operation and the current overhaul attest to the owners commitment to do things right. On two visits just before the remodeling a duo of breakfast staples were sampled. On the first visit the standard breakfast that serves as a benchmark for all others was ordered. A bacon, onion and cheddar omelet, white toast double extra butter and home fries with grilled onions were ordered. The server took my order like she had been doing this all of her life. All of the wait staff were young, women that seemed to have experience beyond their young years. From my seat at the counter in front of the kitchen window it was easy to see the professional execution of their duties and that of cooks as well. The omelet was served the plate was overflowing with breakfast goodness. On first bite you could tell this was going to be a good meal. Building on melted cheese on the floor on the omelet, next three full slices of crisp bacon and then a layer of golden onions before the entire package was folded over. Henry’s serves up extra thick slices of what tasted like homemade bread that was toasted to a medium and buttered as requested. A mound of home fries completed the plate and filled whatever free space was left on the large platter. Boy was it good. On a second visit what has become a house special the corned beef hash skillet was ordered. As described in other reviews a tremendous amount of food is served in this dish. I’m a plate licker from way back and Henry’s Diner beat me as I couldn’t finish it. A layer of home fries, homemade corned beef hash, two eggs over medium and the double extra well buttered toast did me in. The only caveat to be aware of is that on weekends Henry’s is very popular. It’s not unusual for a line of college aged patrons, recovering from the previous night’s bacchanal to be stretched out to about 20 or so deep. Other than that Henry’s gets high ratings for serving up fairly priced, good quality food that will stick to your ribs. Who knows it might make you forget about all that Goldschlager and Patron that you drank the night before. Located at 155 Bank Street just off the Market Place, Henry’s is just the diner you’re looking for. Give them a try.
