The food was delicious. We ordered a bento box for dinner and the portions were huge. Definitely worth the money. We went on a Friday night around 6pm and there were only a couple other families dining, so service was great. It was a nice quiet diner. By time we finished around 7 the place was packed.

Good sushi. Stopped here after my airplane needed an overnight repair. Got Hanna and Crazy salmon roll. Recommendation: - Crazy salmon should be raw salmon instead of cooked one. - Hanna roll wasn't I was expected. It felt like eating an avocado with some mesclun of fish inside. And that overpowered the sushi flavor. - Asahi beer :-) They were out of the Top special. They must be real good. So I'll try next time

This was my first time having sushi, I had the vegetarian roll and liked it a lot. However my crab rangoons were soggy and my yakitori chicken was rubbery. I also thought that the prices were high, I paid $38 for everything in this photo, granted I used doordash and left a tip. Still, I'd go back, especially for sushi.

My order: Sushi Rolls: Salmon Avocado Main Dish: Chicken Katsu with the side salad, miso soup, and white rice ————————————————— T.T.T Taste 10/10 - The food tasted overall good, there were no issues with the main dish, side dish, or the sushi. I left happy and my hunger satisfied. Time 10/10 (with some bonus points) - The staff here is observably very punctual, and relatively skillful in maintaining a decent craft of the food while keeping the punctuality. Nothing was under cooked, and I was honestly surprised at how quickly I got my food. Total 8/10 - It is Japanese food, and Japanese food in Vermont (something that is rare to find). My total came out to be $25, which honestly isn’t bad for the amount of food I was given. The prices seem rather reasonable for being such a gem. —————————————————— Staff rating: Server: James Rating: 10/10 James did a great job and was very polite, he was as punctual as the rest of the staff and excelled at managing multiple tables at a time. I overheard him trying to help a customer with a certain dish that the customer couldn’t remember the name of, but James had assisted him. Kitchen staff Rating: 10/10 Excellent communication between the folks behind the counter, I don’t speak much of their native language, but they were on top of orders and making sure customers were served. Overall skilled and hardworking individuals. Overall Rating: 48/50 Status: Passed Synopsis: This is a great place to go when you’re craving sushi or other Japanese foods. It’s incredibly close to the airport, allowing for a quick meal after or prior to travel (such as myself). Or if you simply wish to try something new, if you never had any form of Asian food, HANA Japanese Restaurant is a great place to start your journey down a hole of delicious foods, great cultures, and amazing people.

Been eating here since 2018. Price has increased exponentially. Some items by over 50% and quality has gotten worse. Used to have a reasonably-priced and good quality vegetarian dinner, but the vegetables were not even fresh. I understand it's winter and many things aren't in season, but this was a lot. Asparagus was pale, mushy, and had a strong smell. Was not going to risk eating it. The rolls in the dinner were very nice and the perfect size, though! I ate all of those! Tiniest side-salad I've ever seen. I almost thought the container was empty before I opened it. Miso soup portion has also decreased. Maybe wait until inflation has calmed down before eating here again.

Food and service were very good. They had an extensive menu and prices seem fair. Restaurant was neat, clean and quiet. Our server didn’t seem too friendly and even had a cold tone in her voice but did her job properly. We’ll be back!

We loved HANA! Our waitress was pleasent and humorous, she made our experience even better. We tried a couple different sushi dishes and both were so so good. My new favorite sushi spot. Habbachi & Miso soups were delicious, appetizers were delicious, and the in house made salad dressing on the side salad was so good, we bought some to go. Highly recommend HANA! Been back a couple more times. I posted pictures each time of different sushi rolls and drinks tried, and will continue to when we go back.

This place never fails to satisfy me and my fiance. The staff is wonderful and the food is delicious. I would definitely recommend this to anybody who loves authentic Japanese food or looking to expand their palette. Special shout out to my waitress from last time who told me I could buy their ginger dressing there. You rock!

Great service, great food. No waiting for table at this hidden gem in a South Burlington strip mall just outside of downtown Burlington. Menu is extensive, huge variety of items of all types to choose from.

All of the staff were very patient and friendly! We ordered a lot of food for two and not one thing was missing or out of place. The only thing that makes me sad is that I don't live across the street! I'd go whenever I can!

I had the Mai Tai, miso soup and 4 sushi rolls. All of it tasted amazing and was so fresh. Friendly wait staff and they were so fast! Picture is of our to go box because it was so filling and yummy we couldn't leave it.

Best sushi around! Whenever we have to travel to the hospital I always make a side trip to get Sushi at Hana! The tuna ball is my favorite! I may have eaten it as soon as they opened the day I gave birth to my daughter (I had my mom go get it as soon as they opened!!) cause I missed it so much!

Finding decent sushi in Vermont can be a challenge, but Hana does very well. I would put their fish at mostly an 8 out of 10, their rice is a perfect 10. Good drink and sake menu.

Some of the most affordable sushi and Japanese around. Staff is super friendly and the restaurant is always clean. The only catch is delivery orders, which have a $30 minimum (but with food so good, you can easily go over that limit.)

Online ordering and pickup was easy and smooth. Food was good. Customer service for pickup was friendly. Friday at 3:30pm, took about half an hour for two people's worth of food. Not bad!

My wife and I stopped at Hana for lunch during our trip down to Connecticut. Boy, that was my best decision of the day. We had a wonderful Bento box along with miso soup for 11$. Look at the picture! I had shrimp Shumai, California roll, beef wrapping some kind of veggie. I was expecting tempura veggies or other kind of fried food, but this is way better. It was tasty; it had variety; it was easy on the gut. That nice piece of watermelon really sealed the deal too! I feel quite blessed to have to stopped here. Definitely returning!

I have celiac disease so always have to be very careful when ordering. They told me not to worry and just tag gluten free in anything on the online order for me. Everything came labelled very clearly so I would know what was safe for me, even the things my husband and son ordered. The food was great and I really appreciated the attention to detail!

I really like this place. Lots of parking. The staff is very friendly and attentive. They have an interesting variety of very affordable drinks and their menu is big. Fish has always been fresh and they have decent veggie selections. Doesn't look like a lot from the outside and the decor is a little lacking but I don't care if the food is fresh, fast, and well priced.

4-stars for the area, 3 stars compared to hibachi places in bigger cities. There’s no grill to cook the food in front of you, so there’s no performance. Just a plate of food brought out from the kitchen.

The lunchbox special is a great deal! The teriyaki shrimp was flavorful and cooked nicely, and came with a lot of food for about $16. The steamed vegetables were bland, but everything else tasted good. I plan to come back here to try their sushi.

What an incredible restaurant, this is my go to spot for sushi in the area. Its quaint, dim lighting inside provides a comforting atmosphere. Sushi has been consistently fresh each visit, staff will remember you and make a point in welcoming you. Hana, you are my new favorite.

The reviews concerning the food are accurate for the most part, balanced flavor, and decent portions. Service is subpar and unfortunately a female employee was caught acting racially bias towards 2 dining guests. I can no longer support this establishment. Also, the hostess was not pleasant. The wait staff were very nice, and clearly working hard to keep everything clean during Covid-19. The food was delicious, the sushi roll we got was a fantastic mix between textures that we werent expecting at all! I got the stir fryed udon and it was super sold and pillowy. The price is good for the quality of food so no compalints. I would definitely go again, and recommend it to others!

Was not impressed by all the supply boxes stacked in the front end of a restaurant and the wait staff could have been a tad friendlier but the spring rolls and especially the gyoza were unbelievable. We also had a Sushi Roll with crabmeat and small scallops that was delish.

The sushi here was really good, if a bit expensive for the portion size. The yakisoba (chicken on a stick) is a hard pass, though. It was just oven cooked chicken breast, about a $2 portion for the price of $7. The size wouldn't have bothered me so much if it had been marinated at all or fried, but it had no taste and was overcooked. There wasn't any offer to take it off the bill either, even after stating these problem. My suggestion, go for the sushi, skip everything else.

Sushi is consistently good - servers are attentive and friendly. Lunch special cannot be beat! Lunch special bento box is a takeout favorite of mine and comes with a lot of food - it does seem to be a bit blander than when I go for dinner but it also costs $11!! No complaints - not for $11. Dinner is always a bit more $$ but always excellent - flavorful and fresh. My fave place to go for sushi in the area.

I get takeout from here and it’s the best sushi in the SB area without paying Koto prices/the wait time. The speciality rolls are so yummy and there are tons of different appetizers to chose from. Definitely something for everyone here!

By far the best sushi I have had in a LONG time. I had given up on finding good sushi in Vermont until I went here. I have been to Japan and spent a few months over there, and this is 100% comparable to the quality and taste that I got in Japan. I will be coming back here frequently!

This restaurant not only has the best Japanese food I've ever had, but they also make all of your sushi dreams come true with their extremely wide variety of roles! I haven't tried a single thing there that I haven't fallen in love with. The atmosphere is so cozy and relaxing and the staff are also SO unbelievably kind and incredible, the nicest waitstaff and host I have ever had. I order takeout just about everyweek, sometimes even more than once a week it's so good! Which is also another benefit to this restaurant is the fact that they do take out! Thank you so much too all the wait staff, hosts and chefs working there you are SO incredibly fantastic!! I always have the best experience there and leave with a big smile on my face.

This is one of my favorite places to grab lunch in Chittenden county. The sushi is great, as good as anything else locally, the service and wait times are also good. The place usually isn't crowded (a bit of a hidden gem actually) and that means food comes out quickly, a big help when you are trying to keep your lunch hour to just that. Highly recommend the HANA roll, and their other special rolls are fantastic as well. The $10 lunch box is great in a pinch as well.

Went in for a bit of sushi and soup. The miso soup was delicious. We got the shrimp tempura and Crazy Match rolls. Both were good. The Crazy Match had the perfect amount of spiciness with jalapeño and sriracha. A solid sushi restaurant, I'd recommend it. Its right out side of downtown Burlington. Not the shortest walk but definitely a short drive.

Best bang for your buck when it comes to sushi around the greater Burlington area. Ko-who? Really though all rolls are tasty and check out their presentation. Edamame app is great as well as chicken tempura. I've never been disappointed. Drinks are good as well. Check out this set up. Delicious and gone quick.

I like the food here and there are many options. I usually get it to go which is preferred for me for there. I don't think they're usually really busy there so it feels like the person waiting on the table just takes a booth themselves and watches waiting for you to finish which is a little disconcerting. They have a small fish tank with many large fish in it which is really sad to see. For the size of the fish and number they really need a larger tank, that in my opinion brings down the atmosphere as well. The bathrooms are really gross too. I would definitely get food there again because that is good, but with the atmosphere and service would prefer take out.

I really enjoy the sushi here. I like to get the lobster salad roll. But,the main draw for me is that they have gluten free soy sauce, and can make their rice gluten free as well. Just ask. They are also very nice people, and I've always had good service. I even mentioned I was allergic to cucumbers and they took the dish and brought it back without them without me having to ask. (I wasn't aware there were any in the dish from the beginning.) Plus, its affordable. I recommend.

Delivered quickly to our hotel and everything was correct. Delivery man was very polite. He even delivered the meal to our hotel room! You thankfully get a lot of food when you order a meal from here and both of us had left overs for the next day.

Hana has the best sushi I've tried in the Burlington area at a great price! I've been there at least six times with my girlfriend and it's our favorite place to go. The service is always great; everyone who works there is nice, polite, and attentive and you never have to wait too long for your meal to be ready. We've tried several different specialty sushi rolls and have yet to find one we don't like.

If you come here a lot you'll know who i mean, she shuffles reluctantly and places your menu on the table without acknowledging you and walks away, highly recommend her if you're looking to be left alone, with minimal exchange, otherwise try not to take it personally. Food is ok, presentation is nice, place is clean.

Great presentation of quality meat, fresh from direct supplier. Chef will even slice 'ole dice your fresh catch if you ask. Fresh local ginger, none of that fake pink stuff here. Ballin' on a budget, great place to take your girl for a good time!

A decent Japanese restaurant. Miso soup is good, sushi is usually pretty solid and decently priced but occasionally is a little sub par. But if you're just looking price wise, you can get a good sized sushi dinner for like $25.

HANA is a pretty incredible place. My husband and I agree, it's our favorite place to eat in Vermont. You can go big, or you can leave happy and satisfied without breaking the bank. Feeling like some fresh high quality sushi? They without a doubt serve some of the best sushi in Vermont! Trust me. I travel a lot, and eating is my favorite part. Sushi not your thing? I recommend the filet and shrimp hibachi. Not only is the food CONSISTANTLY great, the service is awesome! 👍👍

A pleasant surprise! For a strip mall Japanese restaurant in Burlington, one wouldn't expect too much, but what you get is definitely above that. The noodle based dishes are pretty much what you'd figure, mounds of noodles, but the other dishes shine, like the ungreasy tempura, the super soft veggie gyoza, stir fries. Service is genuine, atmosphere nyeh, but a good experience overall!

HANA had delicious, fresh sushi and inventive specialty rolls. The yellowtail was our favorite and there are good, healthy options for kids (our boys split a teriyaki chicken kid's dinner). Phenomenal Sushi. The softshell crab sushi (Spider Roll) is to die for. The servers are a little difficult to communicate with, but they're extremely courteous and the overall atmosphere is extremely friendly. If I had to pick a gripe, it would be that the koi fish in the tank at the entrance are far too cramped- one of them is too big for the tank and they have several of them in there. They should put them in a larger tank, or put a koi pond in the dining area.

I expected better when I saw the menu. The wait staff weren't helpful. I don't think they should eat while they have customers in the building. I asked for no sesame seeds on my food. They did not accommodate my request. The food is not worth the money. The service was worse than Walmart. I would try and find a different restaurant for the money.

3 stars so far, based on various appetizers ordered. Shumai was great, a much more complex sauce than I've ever had before. Tempura is spot on. Yakitori... Having lived in Japan I'm accustomed to it being made a totally different way, a mix of white and dark meat, obvious char from grilling and a mire sticky sauce. This wasn't appealing to me. 2 out of 3 ain't bad, I'll definitely try them again and update.
