Reviews of Guild Tavern
10/10 meal. Awesome ambiance, smells great in the restaurant - smoky. Super clean too. Staff is excellent. Waitress was super helpful, skilled, and friendly. Their craft cocktails are absolutely delicious. Had the ribeye and it was better than in other steakhouses. Little pricey but all around superb experience. As near to perfect as dining can get. 10/10.
Very few places in this area that cook steaks correctly. This place knows what they are doing. Custom open flame grill. They take the temperature of every steak, so it's always cooked perfectly. They have a great cocktail menu. Ton of local beers on tap, but the ambiance here is what will keep you coming back. The whole restaurant has a big open layout. You can actually watch the chefs cook your food over the open flame grill. The lighting and decor is very tasteful. They even have a big fire place that you can lounge around. Super unique spot right on Williston road with plenty of parking. Perfect place to bring a date.
Great atmosphere and dining experience. Dining under dim lights and ambient music. Food and service were great. Reasonable prices. Their cheesecake is really good!
I knew all good things had come together when I walked through the door and could smell the fragrance of the maple and oak wood that was being used to grill the steak over on open fire. All of the food, including the meat, came from local farms.
The interior was unique with great art, a meat grinder collection, and authentic chicken feeder lamps from reclaimed coups.
My waitress, Christina, had a contagious smile. Her perfect service made my evening all the better.
I started with a drink called their Sunshine Fix which was their house concoction that included a house rum blend, grilled pineapple, coconut, lime, allspice tropical, and bright. I have to say it was wonderful and perfect for the moment.
After, I had their Lambswool, also a house drink, and was blown away. It was perfectly mixed with Green Chartreuse, ginger, lime, rosemary lively, tart, and herbaceous. It is now on one of my best drinks lists.
To end libations, I chose the Market Salad with arugula lettuce, shaved radish, pepitas, cherry tomatoes, croutons, and a sherry vinaigrette dressing. It was a good start.
As a main, I ordered the Wood Grilled Ribeye Steak (Rare). It came on a bed of whipped potatoes, doused in a bearnaise sauce with Al Dente broccoli on top. I am most critical of steaks, and this put me on cloud nine. I highly recommend the Guild Tavern for anyone who loves a great steak.
I would like to add that the bartenders (Alexa and Jack) made some great variations of their favorite drinks for me after dinner (All hail Uber). Both of them here for college, and both stayed for their love of Vermont.
Great Sunday evening. We didn’t have time to reserve a table and were really well welcomed by the staff. The french apple run cake was delicious 🤤 …
Wonderful special occasion place or a nice date night treat. The staff was super polite friendly and proffesional. The food was delightfully tasty and superb. An Amazing night out with my fiancée
Had a very nice date night at Guild's bar (place was packed, which was nice to see post-COVID to see the place busy again). New bartender, highly skilled. We had oysters (so so quality, bland, overpriced), and a couple of other apps. The grilled octopus was the best we have ever had anywhere - truly delicious. The beverages were well made, an excellent Vieux Carre (frankly a challenging cocktail to get the dilution right, but our mixer did perfectly), and the Lambswool was also well made, although we both agreed it would have been a better late Spring beverage than a late Winter one as it is fairly bright in flavor profile.
Rosie was a really wonderful server.
Really delicious. Surprisingly so. Not the best decorated place but food was definitely delicious.
We ate in the lounge on these leather chairs by candle light- it was beautiful! We both had Caesar salads with salmon on top and it was the BEST salmon we had ever had. It was wood-fired I believe. Our server Ellen was great and it was just the relaxation we needed after a long day of driving.
Excellent service, ambiance, wine selection and food! Highly recommend.
Exceptionally friendly and helpful wait staff serving delectable cocktails, mouth watering appetizers, and upscale entrées made with care and attention to detail. Do not sleep on this one. You owe it to yourself to try!
Excellent service with friendly staff. Great food; started with the ploughman's plate, followed by steak frites and a burger. Meat was cooked perfectly, platter was nice. Finished with the caramel rum cake, which was moist. Best meal and friendliest staff we have come across in Vermont.
Very busy Saturday night, kudos to all the staff. Way too much vermouth in my martini. The oysters, wings, and Apple cake were lovely. The French fries were awesome. Honestly, the steak was tasteless.
Best Ribeye I've had in a long time. Broccoli was roasted and amazing, whipped potatoes were awesome, and I don't know what the sauce was but holy smokes I could use that on everything. Went here for a company dinner and it was my first time, the atmosphere was a perfect mix of classy and casual. I highly recommend the evergreen old fashioned. The Guild is definitely a do again experience.
We attended with a group of six and the waitress was very attentive to all our requests. The cocktails were divine. I had the oysters as an appetizer and the surf and turf for dinner.
Just had one of the more enjoyable meals in a long time. Wings were great, salmon was unbelievable and the service and ambience was superb. Highly recommend.
Our experience at Guild Tavern was truly incredible. My husband and I had been looking around the central VT and Burlington area for somewhere to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary with a good dinner. We had been picking through options such as Hen of the Wood, Michaels on the Hill, Oakes and Evelyn and other "finer" dining options as we've kind of burnt out on all of the generic restaurant food in our area. After a suggestion from my mother who went to Guild Tavern for her anniversary I decided last minute that we would take the risk and go. I had been saying for the week prior that I really wanted a more thought out dinner with finer ingredients and plated well, and that the cocktails had to be great too. Also that if we are going to pay fine dining prices, I want proper portions. Guild Tavern did NOT disappoint. We started with the Farmers Plate (the sweet potato hummus was outstanding and I can't forget how delicious the beets were), then moved to our main courses. My husband ordered the Sirloin and I the Duck Breast. Both were outstanding. The sirloin was out of this world, the whipped potatoes are unforgettable. The duck breast was cooked perfectly with a delicious flavorful crunchy skin paired with a perfectly sweet and tart cranberry demi-glace. We then finished off our meal with some of the best cheesecake we have ever had (and we are cheesecake snobs). I also can not forget how impressed I was (and obsessed) with the drinks, I had two Goddess of the Underworld cocktails and they were amazing. Sweet enough but not sugary, full of flavor, and incredibly refreshing. To add to all of this the waitstaff was fantastic. We never went without water or drink replacements, perfectly timed check ins on how we liked the food, and wonderful recommendations. I will absolutely HIGHLY recommend anyone to visit Guild Tavern for any meal, especially a special occasion. We will most certainly find ourselves back there soon.
Nice atmosphere, stellar appetizers and fabulous drinks. Entrees were delicious and the service was fantastic. We will be back.
Always a good meal and service. We do prefer their sister restaurant The Farm house for food and out door dinning, however the Guild's atmosphere provides a relaxed sofistication without being pretentious!
The food tasted excellent, the service was very friendly, and the ambiance was very nice and comfortable. We would definitely return in the future to eat and drink.
I've probably had 20 meals here plus a holiday party. Probably the most consistently great food/ambiance I've had at any restaurant in Vermont.
Six of us for my nephew's birthday dinner. Everyone was happy with their steak choices. I had ribeye which was juicy and delicious. Had half leftover for lunch the next day. The plating with roasted onions made for brown on brown entree. We shared onion rings, Caesar salad and heirloom tomato gazepacho for apps. We shared again for dessert, flourless chocolate torte, apple pie, vanilla and chocolate ice cream. It was all delightfully fresh and locally sourced. The staff was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. We were there on a Wednesday night. It was very busy, and still we were well taken care of.
Had a wonderful experience tonight, now one of my new favorite places in Burlington. Very delicious, and the warm fire and wonderful hostesses made for an excellent evening.
Great food, great drinks, great service.
Loved the wings app.
Burger was good, but my favorite is the salmon. It’s smokey and delicious.
Cocktails are creative.
Always delicious. The wood fired meats are fantastic. Cheryl was also so kind and gracious. She even took time out of her day to take my daughter on a tour. Thank you for your hospitality.
Our server was amazing, I didn't catch their name but they took great care of us. I had the pork loin and it was fabulous. I also had the apple rum cake for dessert and loved it.
Had a great dinner at GT. We got the steak dinner for two. Everything was delicious. The presentation of the meal was nice.
Ambiance is great, I cleaned my plate. $$$ is out the door, seems to be their general reputation but the staff was terrific so if you can float the bill this should be a target destination for sure.
Great food. Was sold out, no reservations. The Guild accommodated us and let us use the couches and chairs. Food was very good quality.
My second visit unfortunately did not meet my expectations. Service was slow and our meals diff not arrive at the same time. A server change was never communicated to us. Still a great place but...
Truly impressed with Guild Tavern. Fantastic service, absolutely delicious food, and a wonderful atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant
A great place for a bit of an upscale American meal! The cocktails are almost always the highlight for me when I go to the Guild. And the best part is, they are responsible with their meat sourcing, so if you're an ethical meat only kind of person like myself, you'll love it!
The atmosphere is nice, the service not great. We waited almost an hour for the food. The waitress didn’t even check on us. The beef tartar had no egg and was tasteless. The fish tartar was way too small. Also almost tasteless. The octopus was ok but came cold. Burger was really good. Pasta was mediocre. Overall, overpriced for what was offered.
Great place if you have a few hours to kill because of a layover at the airport.
I have been a few times and enjoyed it.
It is walking distance, but you may certainly take an Uber, Lyft, etc.
It is a little pricey, but it is next to the airport.
A definite change from the other places in the airport.
I just noticed the dinner for two and that looks really nice.
EAST COAST OYSTERS
half dozen, house mignonette & cocktail sauce
It was just me, so I just ordered starters, but these were amazing!
Everything was fresh and tasty. The service is amazing. They have a great menu selection and people are nice and helpful. It is my new go-to place in Burlington.
Was interesting, nice wine selection, even by the glass, simple beer selection as well. Expect 40-50$ a person (with booze) if you’re hoping to have a regular night out. On the other hand, the décoré was awesome! The wall of meet grinders was cool. I wish I took more pictures
Never disappointing! We slurped a dozen oysters as appetizers then ordered more for dessert. Steak tartare was the best I've enjoyed; I think it had fennel oil...yum. wood-grilled shrimp, sirloin and scallops...perfectly made. The drinks are unique and delicious, too. It is a favorite place to dine.
Food and and service are both excellent. My only real criticism is that the menu has not been updated in a while
I gott the octopus and it was great. Sat at the bar and service was very responsive and friendly. Everything was prepared as requested with no issues.
I went to the Guild Tavern for an anniversary dinner and all I have to say is it was the perfect decision. We started with the Spinach Artichoke dip as an appetizer and it was delicious with beautiful presentation. Then next my Girlfriend got Shrimp and Sirloin, with a caesar salad and it left her speechless. Next I ordered the 14oz Ribeye cooked Medium and I'll tell you what... That steak was cooked so well and it tasted absolutely amazing. I have ordered many many steaks from restaurants and this steak will land in my top 2 for sure! To top it all off, we got a chocolate pudding type dessert, (and sorry about the description, I can't remember exactly what the name was!) and it was topped with cherry and whipped cream and it was so delicious that we finished it in just a few short moments! Overall it was a great experience, I highly recommend, and I will 100% be returning to this great restaurant!
While a bit pricey, the food was absolutely delicious. Steak was perfectly prepared and the salad was the best all veggie salad I've ever had. Our waitress was incredibly diligent and polite but had some unusual idiosyncracies and gesticulations that reminded of Barker's Beauties from The Price is Right. Alot of flare and flourish. Almost a show in itself. Unnecessary but not unnoticed.
We were super fortunate to get a table without making a reservation on a busy Saturday. It was our first wedding anniversary and I had promised my husband we'd get some fancy steak. I'm sad to say the food left a lot to be desired. My husband and I ordered the same thing, a ribeye cooked medium. We started with warm crusty bread and butter and that was delicious. But our steaks were both very undercooked while the outside was charred. It came with mashed potatoes and roasted brussels sprouts. The potatoes were fine, but the sprouts tasted parboiled with little flavor. They didn't seem to be roasted very much at all. I got a drink that I can't remember the name of that was described on the menu as "crushable" and it was very good as was the service at our bar table. It's unfortunate that our entrees were underwhelming. Would love to give this place another shot given its great reputation but for the cost, it's hard to want to go back.
I have driven by this place MANY times and always thought, I think it might be a great place to eat. We finally gave it a try based on reviews and photos. We're so glad we did. The service was AMAZING (ask for Alexa). Many of the reviews referred to the beef tartar so I gave it a try. I'd go back just for that! My husband had the sweet corn soup app and loved it. For mains, he ordered a burger and I had the Calabrese Shrimp. The mix of flavours in my shrimp dish were a treat for my palate. And, I cannot lie, I dipped into my husband's fries...had a few more than just a few. We'll be back for sure!
World class quality and service. From host service to dessert, nothing about my experience was short of superb. The freshest local ingredients, utmost professionalism of the entire staff, and a great atmosphere to enjoy my meal. Would highly recommend. 10/10
Excellent excellent restaurant! Incredible fine dining, relaxing atmosphere, amazing staff, quick service, great drinks and the food is incredible! From steak to seafood to salads it's all great! Would recommend to anyone looking for a really nice high quality place to eat. We will be going back for a long time.
I'm giving a four because both our steak entrees, a sirloin and ribeye, were lack luster. Cooked well but poorly seasoned and we both felt we got lower quality for the price compared to other upscale restaurants in the area. The oysters and cheddar soup were great, but I would not recommend the steak based on our experience.
I’ve been here on a few occasions and it’s always enjoyable. Friendly staff, amazing food and one of the few places in Vermont that really knows steak. Pricey, but well worth it. Quality meat & veggies sourced locally.
My husband and I went to dinner here last night. He ordered the gnocchi and chicken parm,, and I got the Adam's Farm chicken entree. The service is warm, friendly, and attentive. The food is very obviously fresh, which we appreciate. It's all notably under-seasoned, however, and very expensive given its blandness and portion size. Honestly, just adding a bit of black pepper to the potatoes or some basil or oregano to the tomato sauce would make a huge difference.
Overall I have loved the Guild for years, hence the 5 star rating. I just hope the cuisine can get back up to the previous experiences and standards I came to expect.
The bar has never faulted my expectation from the quality of the cocktail to the service.
It would be nice to see chateaubriand back on the menu as well.
We've been to Farmhouse dozens of times, but we'd never worked up to the Guild Tavern, which we've heard is one of the most expensive restaurants in the area. We finally decided to give it a try, and it is a bit of a 50/50 mix. Prices are high. There's no getting around that. The prime rib on Saturday is $47. Burgers range from $17 to $22. Entree salads are in the $23 to $27 range. For the prices, we expected to be blown away. One dish did blow us away. For the rest, it was good, but that was the problem. It was just good.
The raw oyster plate was the star of the evening. The mignonette was fantastic, and I loved the addition of grated horseradish. We didn't even try the cocktail sauce as the mignonette was perfect. The grated horseradish was also fantastic with the oysters.
For $33, we had a petite sirloin, which was more flavorful than the prime rib, but it was charred on the outside, which was surprising for rare. Inside it was med-rare. The sirloin sits on chimichurri. You also get three grilled shrimp. The bernaise the three shrimp sit on was exceptional. The buttermilk mashed potatoes were good. The roasted veggies were a mix of corn, carrots, and zucchini and didn't seem to be roasted. They seemed to have been sauteed. If they were roasted, they lacked some of the browned edges/bottoms, that you'd expect from roasted.
The staff were fantastic. They were very warm, attentive, and welcoming and made the experience stand out as one of the best when it comes to service. So overall, service is a 5, food was a 3 with the exception of the oysters that were a 5.
Great Burger place in Conway New Hampshire. I have to say it was a delicious Burger but a little rich for me. I ended up getting the hangover Burger that had a fried egg on its. Everything was very delicious but I will say definitely not light on the calories. My wife and I split a salad to start which was very good as well. I have to say probably the best part was our waiter who was very much on point.
Was there last week for a quick getaway and made a reservation off of a referral. Food was great! Steak was cooked perfectly and my wife had more food then she bargained for with the burger which worked out very well for me.
Wife rated her drink as a 10/10 (was tequila based) and their spin on an Olde fashioned was awesome. Will be back in the winter!
The Guild Tavern is by far the best restaurant in the Burlington area. I would normally rate it at a 4 or 5. Sadly my wife and I did not have a good experience the last time there. Our meal came 45 minutes after ordering and my wife's dinner was cold. Mine was warm enough to eat. Due to covid the meat could not be regrilled. Understandable. We did take it home with us. The staff did everything possible and the meal was comped without our asking. Greatly appreciated. The dessert was great. We will continue to eat at the Guild and chock this experience up to a onetime glitch. It happens.
My wood-fired filet mignon, smashed fingerling potatoes, and pumpkin spice cheesecake were so delicious! Great pick to celebrate my 29th anniversary with my husband!
Had sirloins for dinner, and they were awesome. One came with fries - and the seasoning on them is so good I wish I knew what it was. Cute atmosphere and nice staff.
The best part of the dining experience at the Guild Tavern was the attentiveness of the waiter who returned several times to our table.
My son and I each had ribeye at $48. The piece was thin sliced and undersized. To my taste, it was somewhat oiley although grill fired. I assume that was due to being butter rubbed or some such thing. I ate about 20% of the meal and brought the remainder home where I could prepare it differently.
The vegetables were the best part of the meal.
There were only two choices for dessert and neither of them were appealing. Creamees at the local gas station turned out to be a good alternative!
The Guild Tavern is the best steakhouse in Vermont. The food is reasonably priced for how incredible it is and the portions you receive. The waitstaff are very attentive and have wonderful recommendations. I ordered the sirloin steak and it came with whipped buttermilk potatoes & roasted Brussel sprouts. The steak was truly amazing, very tender and cooked to perfection. The potatoes & Brussel sprouts were also well crafted and delicious- and comes with a transformative side of Béarnaise sauce. All around a very lovely experience!
This is the second time I've been to guild. The drinks we're excellent although we wanted a bit longer than usual. The first course and main course were delicious, all around; no one was disappointed. It's a bit more expensive than the average BTV restaurant but you will not be disappointed. Top marks!
My wife and I tried Guild Tavern quite hungry for dinner after a long day of hiking. We really loved the food. The staff was also very friendly and attentive. We felt well taken care of at all times. We had smoked chicken wings for an appetizer and those were delicious. We both had steaks for dinner which were cooked perfect and very flavorful. Had to try the bumble berry pie for dessert which was also delicious. We love the wood fired flavor to the food. Definitely worth a visit!
While not close to the downtown walking area, The Guild Tavern was totally worth the short drive to South Burlington. The food, ambiance, and service were outstanding.
The menu had a lot of variety for every appetite. We got the sirloin for two, which was an excellent value and quality, although there were easily three or four other dishes that looked mouth watering.
The ambiance was perfect for a date night or a night out with friends on a cold night. There is a comfy lounge area to enjoy a pre dinner cocktail or some lighter fare.
We came from DC and a similar venue there would be too loud to enjoy a conversation and the food would be too trendy for its own good. This was a refreshing departure and we would love to go back.
We went last night for the first time and had a great experience.
I ordered the Sirloin and Jumbo Shrimp it was delicious. I just with the portion size was slightly larger for the price. The staff was wonderful.
We will most likely be back.
Nice warm and welcoming spot. We didn't have reservations so we sat in the lounge area, while not ideal, it was still a very nice dining experience and the service was excellent.
The menus is fairly varied, salads, steaks, but not much chicken, etc. Had a Cesar salad with chicken, it was very good, the chicken was excellent. Servers are nice but just not that personable, so dinner was nice and calm but not fun. I guess that is good for a romantic din er but we were there for a business dinner and I would prefer it to be a bit more lively. Bar is well stocked, and bar tender very knowledgeable.
Should've, could've been better.
It was the first time for this place for both my wife and I. Though it started out strong, it ended in failure. Would I try it again? Yes. I believe everyone occasionally has a bad day and deserves a second chance. But first impressions are often lasting impressions.
My wife and I decided to check out The Guild as our Valentine's restaurant choice. She made the reservations a week or so in advance and on the day of, we were ready early so we decided to go earlier than our reservation so we could possibly enjoy some adult beverages and conversation at the bar.
We arrived at 5:15 for our 6pm reservation and were delighted to find that we could sit in a lounge area with couches, chairs and tables near a wood burning fireplace to have drinks and appetizers as an alternative to the already crowded bar. It was wonderful! Our drinks came out quickly and our order of Rock Crab Dip was hot, fresh and delicious.
We were led to our table at around 5:50 and placed drink and entree orders shortly after being seated. Drinks came quickly, but food takes longer so we waited. And waited. And waited. After 40 minutes and still no food, we were getting pretty frustrated. At 45minutes, our food finally came out. Cold. WTF?! We ate it anyway and I must say, the flavors were good. I can only imagine what it was like hot and fresh. My Wood Fired Sirloin Tips came with mashed potatoes and mixed veggies including Brussels Sprouts and parsnip. My wife's order of Steak and Shrimp was originally cooked to her order of medium rare but it's just not the same cold. And her substitution of onion rings instead of mashed potatoes might as well have been calamari. Though served in a cast iron skillet, they were cold and rubbery.
This was very obviously a failure of the wait staff. The food was otherwise very good, and our drinks were good. After making a comment to our server about how cold our food was, she first told us that their burgers take 30 minutes to cook in their wood fired oven/grill. My wife pointed out that a) we didn't order burgers and b) our food was COLD, obviously not straight from the fire. Our server tried to fix it by giving us the entrees for free. We were not asking for any discounts but it was a nice gesture.
All in all, I think 3 stars is the best I can manage this time. Next time, if there is a next time, I expect to be blown away.
I was surprised by how much I liked the Guild Tavern. We sat at the bar which was tended by a great bartender. There were a few unusual drinks on the menu and we tried one that was actually really good. We both ordered burgers. One was perfect. Mine was way over done. I asked for rare and got medium well done. It was still good Just not my preference. But overall great and the wait staff were all perfect. With apps, drinks, beers, burgers and tip we spent $120. Well worth it.
We had the steak for two and tuna tartare. The steak meal is great; perfect portions for sides to split and salads before the meal (you each get your own salad of choice). Steak cooked perfectly and cocktails were great/refreshing as well. We stuck to whiskey cocktails. Service is generally wonderful. Tonight seemed a little off for some reason in that one respect, but overall a great experience and food/drinks to match.
Very good food. Steaks are terrific (and properly cooked for how done you like it). The cocktails are also excellent. Great salads. And I love their localvore bent with many local vegetables, cheeses, beers, etc. The only reason they don't get a full 5 stars is because occasionally (as in 1 out of 7 times) the service wasn't great, and it is rather expensive — not overpriced, but prices are high (though fair). Really good restaurant, and one I recommend.
Steakhouse with open kitchen. Poutine was great, Caesar salad was good. Our wood grilled ribeye was pretty good but nothing exceptional. Bathroom floor was really sticky. Make sure to book a reservation anywhere you go at this time via Resy well in advance due to capacity restrictions.
So glad the Guild is open! We had dinner last night and everything was delicious. We felt very safe and comfortable in the reduced capacity. The Guild is doing a great job at adapting to the new restaurant requirements but still making going out to dinner a wonderful treat. Thanks!!
Pleasant mix of small town/big city steak tavern with averagely good eats. Things are done well but not great. Service is attentive and extremely focused with a hint of not quite prime time. All of this together still gave us a welcoming and pleasant evening.
Great place to hang with friends or a romantic dinner for two. Delicious appetizers.and entrees. Really enjoyed the steak tartare. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the Burlington area.
Had a fantastic NYE dinner there. Steak was amazing, and my date's gnocchi was very well cooked. There are two reasons I'm not giving this review top marks.
1. On the cheese plate we ordered, none of the accoutrements were evenly proportioned. We had to ask for more jam because we only received a smear on the board.
2. My date ordered a second glass of wine and we had to send it back. I had still been working on my first glass and had drank about half. When my date's second glass came out it was at the same level as my glass- -half empty...we asked if there were different sizes or if they had ran out of the wine we were enjoying. Out server didn't have a valid reason as to why she served it to us. It was a clear mistake that could have been easily avoided. She came back with after pouring more into the glass, but it still wasn't as full as the first.
Definitely get the grilled Ribeye, you will not be disappointed!
This was our first time dining here. I was taken out as a birthday treat by my children, and we will definitely be back! The waitress was very friendly and made the experience that much better. The food was absolutely delicious!
I've been a couple of times and each time my medium rare steak was more medium well. Pretty disappointing. Mashed potatoes were excellent... But I was expecting a regular steak house size portion when charged 9 dollars for them. I want to like this place so badly but haven't found reason to.
We were at the Guild for the first time, and I am simply amazed. The hostess, Alicia, was amazing and checked in at least twice to make sure everything was to our liking. The waitress was friendly, and very knowledgeable about the cocktails. I loved my vodka drink with ginger. We ordered the Ribeye for 2, carved table-side. It was stellar. Like butter. Our two sides were roasted veggies and mashed potatoes. Both were excellent. Also came with two salads, both super fresh with red and golden beets, fennel, radish and a shaved cheese called "tomme", which I had never heard of, also amazing. I cannot say enough about the steak. Top notch.
A 5 star rating for operating as they are in these covid times. The filet mignon was perfect. The fact it was cooked over a wood and coal fired grill, was impressive. The food preparation is done openly in front of you, and watching the chef was like watching a conducter conduct and play all of the instruments at the same time, kudos to her. On the minus side, the onion ring coating lacked something, the horseradish creme fraiche with them was delicious, but there was just not enough of it.
Tip, I originally I ordered the filet medium well but the waitress said it would take some time unless it was butterfly split. I went with ordering it medium, and it was perfect.
Delicious. Locally sourced. Excellent service. Comfortable seating. Even cushy chairs and a fireplace! Great beverage selection. Meat! Where's the drooling food coma emoji when I need it? Great for family, dates, out of town visit. Plenty of parking. Definitely go.
First time there. Wow, really. Definitely not the same old, same old. Expensive but worth it.
Every now then, but rarely, you encounter a place that you wish you found sooner and that one existed where you live. This is one of those places. The staff are friendly and exceptionally well-trained. Irene is a phenomenal bar tender. You can enjoy a drink by the fire with friends or grab a table for a delightful meal. If you deserve to enjoy life, you deserve to visit the Guild. They are doing it right and doing it well!
The best steak in the greater Burlington area. Atmosphere is comfortable and quiet enough to hold a good conversation without feeling sparse.
In spite of this I am changing my rating from 5 to 3 stars. The prices are simply too high for the Burlington area. In addition, during my most recent visit I ordered a Diet Coke and then, after being asked by the waiter had two refills. When the bill came I noticed that each of the refills cost additional three dollars. This seems a little ridiculous when you're paying $50 for a steak and the glass size is about 6 1/2 ounces at best. It's not so much that I mind the cost of the refills, it just feels a little like they nickel & dime their customers when it's supposed to be an upscale steakhouse, not your local Denny's. I thought free refills on soda that was a given at any restaurant with a waiter or waitress.
Don't get me wrong the steak is still great but I think they need to rethink their business model little bit. I know myself and the companions I eat with will probably not be returning to Guild & Company until they make some changes.
Always delicious wood fired steaks, great beer selection, service is on point. I have gone here about once every 2 months and have been impressed with them every time. I'm looking forward to trying some of the other restaurants owned by the group locally.
Easter Brunch was terrific! Excellent food choices prepared & presented perfected. Friendly staff made sure we were well taken care of. Third time here. Always happy.
Food reasonable quality, atmosphere is suburban chain style, drinks standard. Menu is a bit strange, special of $10 burgers on Sunday nights yet steaks are $50. A bit steep considering everything, glad I saved my pennies and went with the burger.
So atmosphere was excellent. Sat on a couch to eat . Server was ok . Nice but very quiet . Oysters we're really good ,tuna tatare was liked by 2 outta 3 of us . Cocktail on the rocks is too light of a pour ,not a manly kinda pour . Burgers were had by all. All OVERCOOKED by 2 tempatures. Being 3 servers we bit our lip . Flavors we're ok but my well done burger was NOT a bit . If ya get the right things maybe it's a better fit for you......but I won't return
Highly recommend this place. Have eaten there several times and thoroughly enjoyed each time. The food and service are excellent. Great for dates and celebrations of all kinds. Excellent wine selections. Be warned, though. It's pricey!
We stopped at Guild Tavern on our way between Montreal and Boston. My husband had a burger and I had the winter salad with mushrooms and skillet salmon. Everything was delicious, the service was excellent, the restaurant was cozy. We'll come again!
Took my in laws for their 50th anniversary. We had never been before. They were rated best steak house in Vermont, and now we know why. Ambiance was excellent and so was the service. My wife and I ordered the steak for 2 which is normally a 22 oz sirloin. They were out, so, a nice chateau briand was substituted. It was brought out and carved tableside. So tender and delicious. Mother in law ordered the entree grilled chicken salad. She loved it. Father in law ordered the steak and shrimp. Loved it. Price was a bit high, but, on par with a high end restaurant. We all had leftovers. Highly recommend.
5 star service from Jackson. Awesome cocktails! Will be back for more.
Nice atmosphere and the staff was excellent. Food was good. Didn't quite live up to expectations and the price. We can say we went but not probably not again.
The Guild is the Forrest Gump of restaurants. You know you can recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good dining experience and they will enjoy it. The steaks are expensive but there's so much more within the 15-20 dollar range that's worth exploring. Amazing drinks, super cozy atmosphere and a great casual eating area if you have toddlers that want to move around a bit.
Excellent Vermont steakhouse. Couldnt have asked for a better tasting NY Strip. Atmosphere was fun especially with the open kitchen design. Had oysters and they were wonderful. Favorite part was the chocolate torte!
Not exactly a tavern atmosphere, but s great upscale tavern style mm enu in socially distanced setting. Very responsive courteous staff. And fairly priced...enjoy...
The Guild Tavern has some excellent food and a decent atmosphere. The prices are high, but the food was very well done to meet the standards one would expect with those prices. If I had to pick anything to criticize about the food, the steak could have used more seasoning, rather than relying on a side sauce. The dressing for the salad and the sauce for the oysters was heavy handed with the vinegar. Other then those things the food was excellent. The atmosphere is relaxed, for the prices, one might expect a bit more of a fine dining experience then what is delivered, however it is Vermont and in a good way it gives a relaxing, rustic feel. The downside was the service. Our server was extremely slow and often passed the table without checking on us, we would have to get his attention to get drink refills. If not for the other staff, not sure if we would have ever gotten our drink orders or food. When ordering desert, it took at minimum ten minutes to get our order taken, then it seemed like a much longer time for it to arrive. After the desert, we asked for a final drink and the check, the drink arrived but the check never did. After seeing our server appearing to be checking out for the night, I finally had to go to the bar to get our check and pay(This would have been fine if he brought the check with the drink and let us know he was leaving, but he did not). The manager was apologetic and did her best to make it right. It is frustrating to spend this kind of money and get terrible service. I begrudgingly left him half the tip I would have with at least somewhat decent service and gave the rest of the tip to the bartender. Would not mind coming back for the food, but the service needs to step it up if I ever come back.
The Guild is absolutely fantastic! Since they changed to the guild tavern the prices dropped dramatically and my God is the food absolutely amazing. I'm usually not too blown away by food and especially every dish I try but they have stepped up their game to the max! The BBQ for 2 was world class perfection, the wings were absolutely perfect smoked goodness, steak cooked and presented perfect. Down to every small detail the bread, service you name it they nailed it. I highly suggest you try the Mai Thai it's unreal. I'm so happy inhale a new spot to go to. Well done Guild TAVERN!
Best steak cooked to my liking great experience both times, went in a group of 4 everyone enjoyed their steaks.
The Guild Tavern was a very positive experience. Very nice interior ambiance. Excellent service. I enjoyed my entree selection very much and had a great dessert. All good and would go back next time I'm in Burlington.
Always consistent in or take out dining. Great burgers, steaks, shrimp and more. Nice bar area if u dine in.
Great service, amazing food. Portion sizes maybe a little small. Prices maybe a little high. Small menu selection.
Great food and drinks, nice service. Actually delicious.
The food is good. Burgers, steak, chicken, fish, surf and turf, salad. Gluten free options.
They were very friendly and welcoming. The place is beautiful inside and the food is amazing and comes very fast
Excellent food, but really over priced!
Delicious food. Very friendly staff.
Great atmosphere. Great service. Did not enjoy the (mushy) mussels. Really liked the steaks (except the ribeye for 2, poor value). Loved all sides, all salads, cheese plates, wings, and the raw fish/oysters!
Decent as always but the steal salad seem to be lacking a bit for the price. Dressing, steak, and greens. Not much else. Burger I got was cooker exactly as I wanted.
Had Mother's Day brunch here. Buffet was spectacular, huge variety, everything was delicious. A little on the pricier side, but you get what you pay for and this one is worth it.
Please change the music. Not 90's hits playing loud.
Fabulous atmosphere. Decent staff. I can only speak for the salad that I ordered, and have to say that it was just a pile of lettuce. Blech@ A patron sitting next to me, let me try a chicken wing, and it was freakin fantastic. So 50/50.
Food was great, service was good and the atmosphere was even better. My wife and I didn't mind a bit of a wait for our food because we had homemade bread delivered to our table while we watched the culinary staff whip up their creations.
Meh. Food is decent. Slow delivery, but not servers fault. Just way too expensive compared to value. Tipped server 20%, because she hustled, but, really, meh...
Went for drinks. Kinda smokey atmosphere. High end drinks. Well crafted beverages. Menu looks good, vegetarian and vegan options. We plan to go back for food.
Good food, nice bar and layout. Kind of expensive for a gastropub, though the quality is there, you're still essentially dining in a Walgreens parking lot...The ridiculous Vermont dining tax and extra Williston sales tax certainly doesn't help. Plan on heading towards $$$ for two people with drinks...
We enjoyed an evening meal from steak tartare, ribeye and ending with chocolate mousse‼️
Service was exceptional..
The stall is good but very expensive. Great service and an awesome drink menu. I like the 1/2 price oysters but the wall of meat grinders is a little weird.
Delight in every bite
This is a gem in South Burlington. We shared the sirloin, cod and roasted vegetables. The Farmhouse salad is exceptional. Highly recommend a visit
The ambiance is ok when you come in, but not near the back. The waistaff is good. The food is over rated and certainly overpriced. I ordered the bbq brisket, which was thin and fatty, although it tasted good.
Reservations definitely recommended. Expect to spend over $100.00 for dinner for two. Food is well prepared and the food, service and ambience make it well worth the price for the special event/occasion dinner.
Loved it! Kind bartender and hostess, came in on a snowy night and they made room for us without a wait. The burger is outstanding.
The take out looks awesome, just like the plates IN the restaurant. They said they have super filters in the restaurant to change room air frequently. So cool
Perfectly seasoned and cooked salmon on a base of earthy tangy beet puree with a lovely greens and fennel salad. Flavorful, healthy food close to the airport. Highly recommended.
This is one of the best places to dine in the area. The waitstaff is professional yet personable. We dine there often and it is always a great experience. Food is delicious!
This is a place to go for a romantic date. You will want to make a reservation. Wear something a little more on the formal side. This place has great food and drink options. It is a bit pricey so prepare to spend some money.
Very good comfort food Vermont style. Beer draft local selection is great. A good stop if you cannot make it to BTV downtown.
Every time I come to Burlington for work I make sure to eat dinner at the Guild at least once. Food is always perfect. The beer selection is on point. The staff is top notch.
Great broiled (grilled) salmon, but bernaise could use more lemon, much more tarragon. I'd return in a heartbeat.
The upper room was very noisy! It has terrible acoustics. Food was good, but Gryphon burger was much juicier, and tastier!
Guild Tavern was really good. Excellent staff, excellent food. Steak was prepared perfectly, and the cheesecake for dessert was special.
Happened on to this place while in town on a business trip and love everything about it. I'M now had the opportunity to dine here several times over multiple trips and had great drinks, food and service every time.
The food was fantastic, the service was attentive and the ambiance was spot on for a dinner out with my lovely wife.
The atmosphere was great. Beer selection and steak was great as well. A little on the skimpy side for poritions for both the steak and beer.
A better alternative to american flatbread pizza. Location is great. No parking hassles. Food is superb and so is the beer options.
The guild was great, my steak was cooked perfectly and the cocktail was amazing.
Food is great, staff is friendly and knowledgeable. We go every year for my son's birthday and always have a great meal
Always consistent. Delicious food. Professional and subtle service. Perfect every time. Reliably wonderful experience.
We like the comfort food with an upscale touch and beer menu. Spacious, Covid compliant. Worth a visit.
Delicious apps. Fun mixed drinks. Pleasing atmosphere, laid back but still upscale
While this is a high end steak place, I actually come here often on Sundays for their $4 off burger special. This restaurant is under the same ownership of Farmhouse and Pascolo in Burlington.
Amazing food, including local beef. I've never been disappointed and had some of my favorite meals here.
Great food and drinks. Lots of selection for local beers and fantastic seasonal cocktails. On the expensive side, so definitely a treat!
Service was very good, nice variety of menu items, known for beef, but other items available! Pricing is reasonable! Would recommend!
Love their food & drink
Great spot, but expensive. Fantastic Mac and cheese side.
Loved the food and enjoyed the atmosphere of the place. The staff are friendly. It a beautiful place to enjoy with friends or by yourself on cold evening.
Good steak and great sides / salads. Some of the best steak in Vermont. Expensive for the size of the cuts.
Very good bbq here! Somewhat limited food menu but it's all good. Huge local beer selection
Good food, great drink list, excellent service. A little pricey for the quality of the steaks.
Wonderful service, great food. Luke was an excellent server.
One of our favourite places. It's meals and cocktails are always amazing and the atmosphere is a cozy.
The premier steak house in the greater Burlington area. All food is locally sourced. Totally worth the price.
Good food, but I expected to eat my fill after spending that much money on one meal.
Good cocktail special, burger was great, but a little pricey, salmon was ok.
Superb food! Warm, cozy dining with very professional staff! I highly recommend this restaurant!
Food was great from appetizer to main course. Steak for 2 was excellent!
Food was well prepared, staff accommodating. Good atmosphere for conversation. Tasty sides.
A wonderful experience! I can't say enough good things about the food or the fabulous service; especially our server, Lily!

The best steak tartare ever!!! Looks like the best restaurants in south Burlington VT!!! Very recommended!!!
Good burger and service but the bar is a bit smokey from the grill or fireplace.
Very good burgers..probably best I ever had. Clean and good service.
This place has gotten better with time. Great meal and service.
Best steak in the Burlington area IMO. Don't go if you are trying to save $$
Good food but way overpriced and out of the way... wouldn’t likely return but nothing egregiously wrong.
Everything was good, but for the prices they charge it should be great... and it's really not... it is really expensive...
Excellent place to dine!!!
A little pricey, but great food and drink. Always a good choice!
Love the food. Super professional staff with great knowledge of what is being served.

Wow, great food and fine service
(Translation) The salads are excellent and the addition of a little light oil vinaigrette enhances the flavors of the vegetables.
Among the desserts I recommend the cheesecake, it is quite not divine, it is "SUBLIME"
The majority of meats are excellent and hard to outclass for cuts of beef. For chicken, it's different, there are so many factors to take into account to make a good evaluation. At least the chef in the kitchen is careful not to overuse the spices that mask the taste of the chicken. This meat is on the menu as a complement to the specialization of the house.
Finally the fish, and the oysters; I have only one qualifier "it is excellent".
The only shadow of this establishment is the "fast" cuisine that we have on the menu. I think there should be no place in this type of restaurant.
Thank you to the head of culinary activities.

(Translation) I've been there a few times, the food is exquisite! The hostesses are courteous and smiling, which is still not the case with the waitresses. Still, I strongly recommend this place.

J'y suis allé quelques fois, la nourriture est exquise! Les hôtesses sont courtoises et souriantes, ce qui n'est tout de même pas le cas des serveuses. Tout de même, je vous conseille fortement cet endroit.
