Reviews of Gaku Ramen
Anisa Rrapaj
Stopped in for a drink while waiting for a table elsewhere. Great service. We got 2 small plates and both very flavorful! The ramen smelled amazing, would come back for it!

My new addiction!! The ramen is to die for!! You can taste the love that was put into making it. I also ordered the karaage which was quite tasty. I had a gin-tendo which was really nice. The staff were all very friendly. It can be an awesome date night or solo lunch spot... either way, go get some!!!

This has got to be one of the best Ramen places I've been too. They had one of the best sake and vegetarian ramen. Definitely recommend the Kikkoman Plum and Ozeki Premium Sake sakes. The ambiance is pleasant and has friendly waiters.
Janet Moses
Brought my daughter and her friends and even though the place had been absolutely SLAMMED with customers all day, the staff was still welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious (particularly the dumplings). It was a great experience.

Pretty meh. I don’t know if perhaps it really is just meh or if I was so excited for ramen and had just too high hopes. I felt like it was missing something. Lacking umami, perhaps. My noodles were also pretty chewy, but I don’t know if that’s how they’re supposed to be or if they were undercooked.
My boyfriend also got the fried rice and it was very strongly sour and salty, and I agree. I love salty, but it seemed to be dunked in a lot of soy sauce.
Food was meh, vibes were good, service was great.

Solid portions, average prices, and very busy because of the location. I got the tonkatsu ramen and was not blown away. The pork was bland and the other toppings kinda disappeared, 2$ to add an egg (which was worth it, their ramen eggs are delicious!). If you want ramen its certainly better than most places around here, but it cant hold a candle to whats possible.
Benjamin Friesen
Nice dinner outside. Nice atmosphere and good service. The vegetarian ramen was great. The rice bowl was overly salty…stick to the ramen. People watching was A+.

What a find! Not your usual ramen place, this felt like it belonged among all the foodie places in New York City. Their vegetarian ramen was divine! The broth wasn't just boring veggie broth. It's like they actually took time to make it tasty! Get their appetizers and sides too! All super tasty!

Much of Church St in Burlington is beautiful. After having some Ben & Jerry's, we toured the area. After a bit of walking, I needed a restroom. I saw this place when we first walked down the slope of the street and thought it would be nice to enjoy some homemade ramen like they make in Japan. If you're not accustomed to ramen that didn't start as a brick of $.10 noodles, you'll have a unique time visiting this restaurant. The open-air dining and decor was reminiscent of fine Japanese dining. The menu, while rather brief, was laid out well and explained everything you need to know about what you'll be getting when you order. Ramen is to be served quickly as to enjoy the noodles promptly. If they sit for too long, they become limp and not as tasty. Their place hit the mark. Most of us had shoyu chicken, which is pretty standard. It was done quite well and served quickly. The prices were a bit high (especially if you're used to $.10 ramen), but the experience was what it's all about. Slurping noodles from chopsticks with family. Most of us enjoyed the experience, and yes, I got to use the bathroom. When in Burlington and hunting for pretty accurate Japanese ramen, visit this place!

Am awesome experience! For an off the road Ramen place, this beautiful and simplistic restraint was well ordered, staffed well and had amazing tasting Ramen! Honestly worth a visit for any restraunt goer with a desire for noodles and rice! Twas a fantastic evening of authentic Sake, rice bowls and authentic Ramen recipes. The servers were professional and timely and attentive to our needs. An excellent night on church street!

Best place we’ve eaten in Burlington so far on our vacation. The bao and vegetarian ramen are both so good and the service was perfect.
Natalie J
Had a bit of a rough start but appreciated that the staff made it right. Apparently there was some glitch in the ticket system that meant my table's order never got printed and our food was very delayed, made worse by the fact we were on a time crunch. But the staff was very kind in explaining what happened, made sure we got our food on time, and compensated us for the inconvenience as well. The food itself was delicious even if we had to eat it fast. Will be back.
Jeff
Ramen noodles were not what I was used to or expecting. There was very little meat in the soup and it was quite bland. They were out of all Japanese beers too. I had a few appetizers as well and they could use better descriptions on the menu. Staff didn't really want to be there, some looked high and didn't bother to check in to see if we needed anything else. Would I go back? No.
Andrew Chase
5-star flavor and service. Only reason I give 4 stars is menu confusion - read bottom. Highly recommended by a friend and seriously a must-stop when in the area. I got pork buns and Tonkotsu ramen all so around $20 totally worth it for a flavor experience. Be sure to make it spicy! If I'm in the area, I will always make it a point to return.
Their online menu prices, however, do not reflect prices in restaurant, at least in Burlington. But it's okay, because the prices are cheaper than the online menu, but I just found that funny. Perhaps the other location is pricier. I ate there while quarantine distancing practices were in place, so there were no physical menus and I had to search their menu on my phone. Pleasantly surprised when my bill was less than expected, but still the prices should be updated.

Acceptable 20 minute wait on a Saturday night. Sat and was immediately told there were no Gaku buns available. I was also told there was no pork product either!!!! Whaaat! Fried chicken appetizer was decent but the dumplings were almost burnt on the outside and cold on the inside.
Order a ramen bowl and a fried rice bowl. Ramen was extremely salty, chicken was even saltier and burnt dry. Rice bowl was terrible, undercooked rice, chalky. Was brought an equally salted ramen bowl as a replacement.
Local beer was great and atmosphere was ok. Overheard other clients complaining about the quality of the food. Table next to us left without finishing meal.
We are extremely disappointed and unfortunately will be staying away. So sad as the first times it were amazing!
Jonathan Bradley
This is one of the few places I have eaten at in Burlington and regularly return to. It is good. It is probably one of the few international flavored restaurants that actually taste like it is supposed to. Well worth a visit.
Faith Robinson
Not bad for Burlington, but I've just had so much better ramen elsewhere and for way cheaper. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't amazing. It was just ok, kind of bland broth and very salty. There was only diced green onion and pork in my tonkotsu ramen! The bao was really good though! The service was sooo slow and we we waited for 10 minutes just to get menus and then another 15 to order! Sadly I probably won't be back; I can make better ramen at home!
lizzy Mayo
This has some really good ramen, but lacking on the amount of other ingredients in the ramen like seeweed or eggs or vegetables.
Dominique Hunt
We came here for lunch 3 years ago and it was awful! But today we decided to give this place a second try and my Chicken Shoyu was good, definitely recommend getting it spicy. The fried rice is okay. My fiancé got the Tobkotsu he didn't really care for it, he didn't like the noodles and the broth was pretty bland. We did have a long wait for our meals, but the waitress was nice and friendly.
Derek Fisk
My wife and I make a point to eat at Gaku Ramen each time we visit Burlington. The food is fantastic and we love the atmosphere. The noodles in the ramen have a really great taste and we always comment about how great they are. A good variety of drinks, many from local Burlington breweries. Lastly, the service is unmatched. Everyone we talk to is so friendly and they even brought a water dish out to my dog while we were enjoying drinks outside. Highly recommend.
D D
Food is really good, and prices are reasonable. I've been here a few times and service was always meh even though the place was maybe half full. From waiting too long to be seated to waiting too long to take the order to waiting too long to get the check (and once having to walk up to register and ask to pay).
Jamie Byers
The staff was great and that is the only reason we land at 3 stars. Every dish we had was either bland, over seasoned, or just off. The noodles were chewy and the ramen overall was meh. We felt very awkward leaving enough to feed 3-4 on the table, but it was just inedible. The fried rice had so much seasoning on the chicken it was like taking a bite from a salt lick.
Sandi Omanovic
Gaku Ramen is a good not great kind of place. You’ll have a decent experience, wait staff is nice and the food will be good but it won’t knock your socks off or leave you remembering it.
I like to come her and get the Chicken Shoyu with spicy sauce on the side. If I’m hungry then I’ll get the extra noodles for $3.
I got the good-zilla shot and it was meh. There was ice chips in the shot which make it hard to take the shot. As a sipping shot it was good but the flavors just didn’t really work for me.
The Fuji sunrise is a favorite of mine but the Tokyo Mashup was also just okay. I think having a more price diverse drink menu would be beneficial.
Richard Yip
Little escapade to Burlington and saw this ramen joint. The staff and service is very good but the ramen... not that great. Tasted a bit like instant noodles. The buns on the other side, were delicious. Do not expect much for the tonkatsu. Had better but again, the service is very good.
Zoe Blake
I had the chickdn shoyu and it was very delicious! For an appetizer we had pork buns and these were different from what i normally get which is stuffed pork buns, but i dont know how to express how amazing they were. As a person who loves foods from Asian and bever really has anything in the area good to eat this made my day! So many flavors! If I would suggest it I would get chicken shoyu, add pork belly and extra noodles!
ForeverNERVOUSZan
Delicious food. Noodles were spicy enough for my spice-crazed partner. Great appetizers!! I loved that they had vegan and vegetarian options for my dietary restrictions. They had small canister of chopped ginger and garlic which I really enjoyed (i am obsessed with garlic). The day we went it was a little chilly and rainy outside and it was the perfect warm-up for a day like that. They were also showing Jurassic Park on TV which is an added bonus for my millenial heart.
B D
Very good food and chill environment! staff were very nice. I highly recommend the appetizer: Chicken bun! I wish they had a ramen dish that came with salmon, but it can be added on for additional cost!
Andrew Dylag
The ambiance is very nice, interesting music and none stop Japanese anime. Great food and service. We had pork buns and ramen soup. Soup could have been a little hotter.
Nico Samneil Salado
Not the ramen place that i expected. Food is so-so, price is….hmmm. Maybe reasonable for some. Crew are nice and pleasant. Pretty busy. Ample spacing between tables.
Tammy Shah
Vegetarian Ramen noodles are really good. A lot of deep flavor. I added black garlic, which was awesome. The waitress was wonderful. Would definitely recommend!!
Stacey Wilson
Amazing broth, creamy and beautiful! The pork in the dish is salty and perfect, lovely mushrooms, loved it!
Riley Chez
This Ramen is so underwhelming I’d probably be better off eating Campbells chicken noodle soup. It’s literally so bland and unremarkable that it kinda blows my mind. Decent service. Good sake. Good kaarage and cucumber salad. …. But the ramen?? Yikes. I was warned by some locals that it was pretty bland and thought “how bad can it be? I have a ramen craving” this didn’t feel like ramen at all
cary grotto
My vegetable shoyu was delicious but $4 for a small bit of tofu is overpriced. The Salmon fried rice was undercooked and the Tonkatsu was not good. The other two people I was with didn't finish their meal.
Ely
I did not have a good experience with Gaku at my first visit, but they invited me back and it was incredible! Food was wonderful. I highly recommend the tonkotsu and gyoza! I'll definitely be back!
Nicholas Sheeley-Norris
Excellent service. My wife and I both ordered Tonkatsu ramen and made it spicy and added black garlic and a soft boiled egg. It was absolutely delicious and really hit the spot.
Eric Mongeur
Went there with my wife for lunch. We were cheerfully greeted, and sat promptly. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. We,let him know it was not only our first time there, but our first experience with real ramen. He helped us decide what would be a good introductory dish, given our tastes. We ordered the chicken buns for the appetizer. It was fantastic. Our main dishes came out, and looked like art, smelled amazing, and the first bite had us hooked. Our only complaint was the price... $12 and $15 for a bowl of soup is a little steep. That being said, it was worth the experience, (the food IS good, as is the service) and we will likely return for an occasional treat.
Ashley Fisk
This is one of my top favorite restaurants in Burlington! Conveniently located right on Church Street. Portions are extremely generous, you will not leave hungry and price is very fair for what you get. Great comfort food and always delicious. Staff is alway professional and very nice.
Megan Dessanti
Such good ramen and good people. I got the "tonkotsu" which is there traditional pork ramen and it was so refreshing, like a good and hot bowl of soup.
Nicholas Gouw (Ngouwys)
Perfectly good bowl of tonkotsu ramen, broth wasn't too heavy or oily, chashu was cooked well and the side order of karaage I got went well with the dish. The noodles however were abit on the softer side compared to how I usually like them, but the friendly staff and clean environment were big plusses.
Estuardo Montoya
Food was okay, the pork fried rice was so salty and not good at all, nice place( waitress so nice ) but we wait almost 40 minutes for the food ,
Yael W
Service was good. Not too pricey! Ramen tasted good. They did put way to many onions in my Vegetable Ramen (would have preferred another veggie or maybe more noodles). They will also charge you extra for garlic and heat too.
Jean-François Tardif
Tasty ramens even though there were extras for spicy sauce and soft boiled eggs. Waitress was kind and the restaurant itself was great looking.
Henry Romp
Delicious food and very friendly attentive service. Warm cozy atmosphere.
Sophia Lamor
My favorite restaurant on Church Street! The staff is friendly and efficient, especially their wonderful manager, John (I'm assuming manager - if not he should be!). The food has been delightful every time I've gone. There are many appetizers, drink options, and a refreshing variety of vegetarian choices. Facilities & tables are always clean and tidy... also has lovely outdoor seating during the warmer months! The highest recommendation here. 🙌🏻
Konrad Herath
Had a wonderful dinner here a few weeks ago. It was our third time going, and the quality has been consistent and the service is great. Great variety on the menu, plus it’s decorated really nicely inside.
Hiroikku Neko (Hironya)
I went back here a year later, and I think the place has had a change of heart. The food is quite delicious and it was reasonably brought to us. I should have considered COVID’s impact on this business, oh how Naive I was! Anyways, highly recommend this place if you’re a budgeted college student looking for food.
Anna M
A decent option on Church St. Restaurant itself is a bit small, and the menu definitely reflects that. Slim options and only really one option for vegans--the rice bowl. It was okay, pretty salty but not bad. Beer/drink selection was good. Server was nice but I felt bad, she was running around to about six or seven different tables and definitely overworked. Not a great place to come for a relaxing, drawn-out date night. Stop in, get some ramen, and be on your way. Or, maybe order take-out. Dine-in just wasn't quite worth it.
alice patania
We tried this place twice, once for take out and months later dining in. Both times it took more than 1h to get our food, for a meal that it is made to be served quickly. The food itself was ok, but not worth the money.
anona ymousa
Got the tonkotsu ramen and the chicken shoyu ramen - the broth in the tonkotsu was very weak and needed more flavor. The broth in the chicken shoyu was tasty but they added too much white onion and too much hot pepper. The noodles were good. Not pleased about the fact that they charge extra if you want a soft-boiled egg added to most of their ramen entrees (except the chicken shoyu)- every other ramen place I have been to has always included the egg without charging more.
Chris James
Food was absolutely amazing and staff was really friendly, I will definitely be going again when visiting Burlington
Eric Ptak
Every time we visit Burlington, we have to go to Goku for at least one meal. The food is picturesque, and tastes just as good. The staff is always friendly, even when it is busy.
Shannon
Staff was nice. Ramen was great! Just spicy enough! Loceation is perfect on a nice marketplace street.
R. Hard E
Ramen was good. Especially when you add spice to it😊👍
Sally Wachowski
Food is good, service was slow, very polite, but the restaurant is loud.
Mario Martinez
Unbelievable service and food. I tried the pork ramen with egg, black garlic, spice and extra noodles and it was perhaps some of the best ramen I’ve ever had. The Japanese fried chicken and gyoza was also next level
Ethan Suttner
Perhaps the best ramen I've had in my entire boring life! The spices on the table allow you to ensure every bite is spiced to your preference. Well done Gaku!!
Lee Delarm
The short:
Pros: The food here is great
Cons: They're closed randomly during advertised hours, show up here at your own risk without calling first
I've had ramen here three times, and side dishes, everything was always amazing! They're clearly a bit understaffed like everyone is, so if you're in a hurry to make a show, you should probably try somewhere else. Their wait times are reasonable and also fairly accurate, which is great!
However, I've tried visiting this place a NUMBER of times when their hours say they're open and found them to be closed. Not like "10 minutes after opening" but mid-day. Or two hours before they close the place is a ghost town with locked doors.
I understand staff is short, but they REALLY need to resolve their open/close issues. If the hours were shorter, but at least CONSISTENT, that would be awesome. Not sure if they need to pay their staff more, get more staff, or what to get enough people to man the place for advertised hours, but just deciding to show up here without making a phone call to see if they're open is an exercise in frustration.
Sonja Stefan
Wow! This place was hopping with hungry diners even at lunchtime. My husband and I had never tried a noodle bowl restaurant and now we know what all the "hub-bub" is about. The menu was a lot more varied (lots of options) than we expected and the servings were very generous. Delicious food and the staff was very friendly and hustled to keep up with the crowd. In a word YUM!!!!!
Connor Allan
I've been coming here since they opened and have really enjoyed every trip. Thee food here is excellent and the wait staff is absolutely amazing! I would recommend this place to everyone!!
Andrew Minster
Everything was wonderful. Perfect texture, flavor and service.
mikey mop
The food is well made, some parts of the dish could be better but overall very good.
The staff here really makes it. All super friendly attentive and knowledgeable about the menu.
The waitress I had stood out from most wait staff, even at other locations in the area.
I ordered a dish that I ended up not liking. When I ordered a second dish the waitress asked if something was wrong and offered to take the first dish off the bill. I declined as it was my fault for ordering and taking the risk.
Later when the bill came out the waitress reduced the price of my entire first dish by half, said she empathized with me and appreciated how polite I was about it.
The gesture was so sweet, if you ever see this review thank you much 😊 I will continue to come to Gaku when I visit Burlington in hopes that can continue to schedule such friendly and compassionate employees.

10/10 Would recommend. I tell all my family and friends.
Gaku Ramen is a local favorite and I find myself coming back, time after time. Deeply flavorful and authentic ramen that just melts in your mouth. The price is very fair, especially for the quality of the food you receive. I am eagerly looking forward to my next visit!

Loved the food however, the bartender was the RUDEST person I have ever dealt with at a restaurant (blonde woman working during dinner on 10/17/21). We put our names on the waiting list and were told to come back at 5:30. We arrived 8 minutes late (which I understand we arrived late and take responsibility for that). When we arrived she was so nasty and said "Well, I have a table I'll seat you at but in the future we only hold reservations for 10 minutes." I said that I understood that however, we were only 8 minutes late and were told it would be a 45 minute wait and to come back at 5:30. She very nastily said "I'm not going to argue with you." HOW RUDE. If we hadn't driven 90 minutes to eat there, we would have walked out. I see on Google reviews that there are others who have the same issues with staff. I take responsibility for being 8 minutes late, but if your policy is only holding reservations for 10 minutes, then follow your own policy and don't be rude about it.
Giving 3 stars because the food was amazing. Knocked off 2 because of the rude bartender.
Olivia Eden
Hard yes. Hard yes. If you want to feel what glory is add that black garlic. I'm telling you. 100% do it.
Derek St.George
Great ramen. Not a lot of similar options in the area. Glad they are here. Hope they stay.
Rebecca-Anne Hyjek
Always a good experience. They were incredibly busy and we're out of most things BUT were really accommodating and offered substitutions where they could
Camilia Loignon-Gagnon
Great Gaku buns, ramen a bit saltier than expected but still very good!
Clifford The Crosstrek
Was quite a wait for a half-full restaurant. When my party was finally seated, we again waited just to get drinks, apps in, etc. We got an order of edamame and pork dumplings. These came out super fast and were delicious.
All four of us ordered different bowls of ramen, and we were all pleased with our dish. My shrimp in my bowl were overcooked and tough, not something I would normally accept, BUT there were already such long wait times, I just dealt with them.
I can look past the staff shortages as the world seems to have quit, but the shrimp should've been the star of the meal, and sadly were the biggest disappointment.
I will give Gaku another shot.
debraj ghosal
Small menu but good. Drink options are nice.
Brian
Four stars ONLY due to the fact that I'm very, VERY picky when it comes to my ramen. But that being said, giving 4 stars is a must for Gaku. Fantastic choice of meals, with appropriate pricing - for Burlington - and remarkably kind staff. Very clean and accommodating, with great bar service and cozy seating. Low(ish) lights made me a happy camper. Food was awesome and the ability to adjust my dishes to fit my restricted diet was perfect. Great place, so stop by sometime and try for yourself. I'll certainly be back.
Colin Wyler
Fantastic service. The staff was overwhelmed with an extremely busy night on a holiday night ( amidst a pandemic) and kept their heads cool. My food was fantastic, the manager even offered me two free offerings for the wait, and the whole staff handled the busy evening with care and dignity. Respect! Highly recommend for dine in and take out
Dariana Fox
The service from the folks working was lovely. However, the food was served just warm and if you've had good ramen before this will likely disappoint from an overall flavor perspective. It was fine, not bad, but just manage your expectations on trying to have great ramen. We suspected that they poured the broth in the bowls too early so when the noodles finally went in there wasn't enough heat to soften them. The flavor was comforting, but it was missing that wow factor you look for. We asked for one of the ramens to be extra spicy - it wasn't. Also didn't appreciate the upcharge on extra spicy when it was barely spicy.
Beverly Popek
We enjoyed great ramen and karaage chicken here. Staff was attentive.
Ali Farnum
I've been to this place twice now. They have really good Ramen I've ordered the same Ramen which is called Tonkotsu with a soft boiled egg. Out of all the Ramen noodle places this place is definitely the best. Their broth is so rich and creamy makes me want to come back for more and more. Would absolutely recommend if your in burlington VT. Also the staff is extremely friendly🙂 will definitely be going back.
Calvin
Quick review:
Pro:
-The ramen is pretty good
-price is not bad
Con:
-Horrible staff!
Detail review:
Not sure if I came here on a bad day or there was low on staff. However, when we got there the female wait staff have bad attitudes and don't seem to care.
We had one good waiter but even he seems to get our food a little late.
Overall: I would give a second chance at some point because the ramen is not bad, especially the miso ramen, but honestly the staff needs to review their manners
Mark Harwood
Friendly servers, cool spot, good apps, pretty disappointing ramen 🤷
Adi Suriawan
Nice ramen. I ordered Tonkatsu Soucy Ramen. It was delicious. The outdoor seating area is also great.
Emanuel Thomas
Our waitress was awesome. We had and incident were a chair broke and they took care of us. The next time your are near graybar electric in Williston vt I'll take care of you
Jeffrey Reed
The big downfall was that they didn't tells us that the menu was online!!! However, there was good atmosphere. Food was tasty and spicy enough for me. The pork was really tender and flavorful. Their fried rice is next on my list.
Bas Schraders
Overall the food tasted alright. The tonkotsu had a few paperthin slices of pork, like the #1 on a deli slicer. It kind of reminded me of chicken breast cold cuts? The salmon fried rice had a teeny piece of fish. The best dish was the karaage fried chicken appetizer. If you’re looking for a large steaming satisfying bowl of noodles, there are better (and cheaper) places to go. The staff was friendly though, and the food came out quick. Unfortunately they were also all out of Japanese beers.
Adam Jones
Solid service. Great bowls. Will definitely return. Worth anyone's time and money
ben mullen
There was a staff shortage. The workers tried. The food was good. Eating outside and watching the people was worth the wait.
Bria Rose
The vegan ramen is DELICIOUS. It’s one of the best vegetarian ramens I have had, definitely recommend giving it a try. Their edamame is great too. Staff is very friendly and kind. We came between shifts so there was a bit of a wait but who can complain when the food is THIS good? Highly recommend.
Yasmene Badereldin
We were so excited to try the ramen here as we saw so many positive reviews, but the service was sub par. The staff was having a hard time managing everyone’s order and it took our very simple order almost 40 minutes. A server came up to us and asked “oh...you didn’t get your order yet?” They went to get it and it turns out it has been ready for some time but no one gave it to us. The ramen was almost cold by the time we got it. And a few items were missing so we had to wait even longer. We FINALLY started eating and the waitress came by to refill our water and spilled it all over us and our belongs. Accidents happen, but we thought that for the inconvenience with timing and our stuff getting soaked we would get some kind of reimbursement. Would have been 5 stars if the service was better.
Rachael Price
Food was delicious! And it was beautifully presented! Pork buns were soooooo good.
Jason Bosworth
Very very good authentic Ramen bowl at a decent price for lunch. Big heaping delicious handcrafted Ramen with Naruto playing on a screen at the bar? Ill be back.
Bettina Licata
Ramen and fried rice were both delicious but our favorite was the dumplings! Next time we’re ordering two orders!
david pearce
It was ok the wait time was a little long but I forgive that cause it was busy. What I can't forgive is that my gyoza and ramen came out ice cold. The noodles were a little tough to chew due to how cold it was. I will give it another try when it's less busy and see if it's better.
Katrina Miller
This was so delicious! I went with a big group so we got all three types of broth. The chicken broth I got with black garlic was amazing, and others who got veggie broth loved it. The service was fast for a group of 6, and we were seated immediately around 5:30. Thanks for the great dining experience Gaku!
Kenny Linderman
Decent ramen. The tonkatsu broth was tasty, the noodles were good and the spiciness was perfect. Meat left something to be desired but could have also been way worse. They were definitely understaffed unfortunately but at least got my food out piping hot.
Wesley Van Auken
Service was slow, possibly because of the pandemic. Hiring servers and cooks is probably hard right now so I am giving a slight pass to that factor. Soft boiled egg was cold in the middle. I guess that's going to happen when you soft boil them ahead of time and refrigerate them for later, but perhaps my expectations have been set too high by other noodle restaurants I've been to. As others have said the noodles seem a little un-ramen-esque but I'm open to variety.
All these factors combined when you're paying $20 after tip for a bowl of noodles is definitely going to cost a couple stars. Overall I enjoyed the soup but it didn't wow me and I've had better.
Three stars.
Faith Rousseau
We love going here. Great food, good proportions, and not too expensive considering it's on Church St. The ramen comes out in big bowls and you can choose to order extra noodles if you have some broth left over. The appetizers are better suited for a small group so expect to have to purchase extra for bigger groups. Usually there isn't a long wait, but some of the tall tables have uncomfortable chairs.

Really nice location for the non-winter months. Had some appetizers as sharing plates -- the Japanese fried chicken is outstanding. Not over fried, not overly greasy, very juicy. Buns were surprisingly tasty as well. Prices are very reasonable for a Church Street location.
Service was a little casual, but it looked like there was only 1-2 servers for a busy Saturday night so I don't figure it's a normality.
Aimen Fatima
The quantity of the serving, service and the flavour were all very good!
Jason Taylor
Nice looking restaurant with great views. Broth was nice and tasty, but as others have mentioned the noodles are lacking.
Mark Madison
This is a wonderful restaurant. We were warmly greeted and the service was great. I had the pork Ramen. Pork slices were so thin and delicate. Very tasty. My wife had the chicken ramen. She liked it a lot but found it a bit salty for her taste. I'm not much of an expert on Ramen but this was absolutely wonderful. We will definitely be back to try other dishes.
Pandora Box
The food here is amazing! The only problem was the server(blond girl with piercing) who sat us at a table we ordered waters she forgot for 15 min sat another table and got them waters so we moved to the bar Tyler was there and he was very nice and fast( one of the best server bartender they have)he is the reason I will go back but the girl made me and my boyfriend feel ignored and we almost left. It’s very important to pay attention to your tables that’s literally what the server needs to do.
Hyatt Hostetler
Very delicious. Food felt super fancy but was priced fairly well. Our server was super friendly. She talked with us like we had known her for years. Pleasant experience. (Don't forget to take the honeymoon!)
Matt Krebs
Went in to try their tonkotsu Ramen. Freaking amazing, gotta add spicy and an egg though! The bartender Louissa was super nice and recommended the lychee martini. Dangerous, you can barely taste the alcohol. Highly recommend
Sydney Weber
This is now the third time I try to get food there and get no service at all. It took over 5min for anyone to acknowledge my presence despite multiple employees walking past me.
Once someone finally decided to acknowledge my presence, they haphazardly directed me to a table and walked off.
After that, I waited for 20min. For 20min, I didn't even get a menu or even as much as a look from the server that was handling the section I got seated in.
While I was waiting, a couple came in and received the exact treatment, got seated right next to me and immediately ignored. Eventually, we ended up just leaving and going to Asiana Noodle Shop.
The food is usually great, but service is 50/50. Either you get served, or you don't.
Dan White
Michelle and the team were under a lot of pressure tonight when a lot of takeout orders came in quickly and they lost track of my order. After waiting a lot longer than expected she owned up to it like a boss, and gave me an incentive to come back, which I definitely will because of how well she handled a stressful situation. Well done Michelle and team. Now, it's time for ramen :)
Sophie Aurora Dahlia
My partner and I love eating here, we usually go a couple times a month and always have a pleasant experience. The food is delicious, staff are very friendly and happy to help, and the atmosphere is very cool. They usually have chill music playing in the background and they have muted anime w/ subtitles playing above the counter.
Muthuswamy Venkataraman
Interesting place. Try the tofu seaweed soup, and it is one of the places that serves Sake perfectly.
Mary Levasseur
Went here on several occasions and its always been great. Anime playing behind the bar and cozy seating. Highly recommend
Amelia Sybenga
Always a pleasure-consistent and delicious, easy going, clean presentation. Don't forget the black garlic for the Tonkotsu.
Jessie Jennings
Awesome atmosphere. Staff was very polite and helpful. Could barely finish my ramen bowl. Great flavors and on point with the soup. I would definitely come back again. Love them gaku pork buns.
Suea Teichman
The food was amazing! The ambience of the place was sweet. Unfortunately my trip was memorable because my friend and I got a really pushy waitress who was somewhat rude to us. Would still go again for the food and hopefully a different waitress.
DAVID WATSON
Stopped in on a very cold Friday night to try something different. I sat at the bar and ordered a Shrimp Ramen bowl that really hit the spot the shrimp were tender and the broth was seasoned to perfection. Seated next to me was a young woman that turned out to be the General Manager Shannon Stewart. We struck up a wide ranging conversation covering multiple subjects and best of all I received a lesson about different types of Saki the one recommended was incredible. I can't urge you enough to stop in and enjoy the experience.
Vanessa LaCroix
Fried chicken and saki. Great service, delicious small plates of your not feeling the big bowls of rice or Ramen. Welcoming atmosphere
Gabriella Dabain
This has become my favorite place in Burlington. My only complaint is they charge extra to make the dish spicy which seems kinda greedy in my opinion. I will definitely keep eating here though, so obviously that's not a deal breaker. Staff is always super nice too.
Fran B
The staff boost this place to 5 star. The first dish (veg fried rice) I had ordered from the menu was overly salty, but they were very quick to offer to either remake or replace it. I oped to get the tonkotsu ramen that the rest of my party had ordered (as they let me taste some first) and the kitchen staff rushed to get it out and assured me multiple times it was coming. They were all very kind and very attentive.
Both the wife and I have celiacs, and there were enough gluten free options that there was a nice range of choice. They can use rice noodles instead of wheat noodles for the soup dishes, and have a GF soy sauce. The servings are very large and filling. Highly recommended.
Reena Mishory
The pork dumplings had such a good dipping sauce we almost wanted to drink it straight. We got the tonkotsu ramen and highly suggest you add a soft boiled egg and black garlic and if you like it spicy - get it on the side. Would have given it 5 stars if the ramen noodles were authentic and not spaghetti.
Cristin Craft
The ramen broth was good, the meat was cooked great and so were the noodles…what it was missing… more meat, better veggies (corn and cabbage for the veggie option???boring ! and lacked color) and why on earth is the chicken Gaku the only one with the soft boiled eggs? The bao buns were good but needed more veggies (julienned carrots? Scallions? Anything!!!) I’d love to see a focus on adding color with veggies in the ramen. I have had better ramen out of a food truck! But again not a bad option if you’re craving some noodles and broth.
Charles Adkins
The food was good and very flavorful; however, the service was unacceptably slow. We waited for 45 minutes to get the appetizer and another 30 minutes to get the Ramen. I would come here again for take out, but would not recommend for table service.
J SMITH
I have to say they have protected a bowl of noodles 🍜. I am looking for another steaming bowl. I also appreciate the fact that every item had its own flavor profile. Oh yea im not a local so thats why I had to put this on the must try list for anyone that stops in Burlington VT. …
Crystal Shertenlieb
Very new kind of food for me. It was delicious. There was a good selection of vegetarian options. The staff was pleasant.
Kelemua Summa-Hardy
I love this place! I've only been once before with a friend but it's absolutely lovely, we had a great time and our server was amazing as well. I love the decor and I'm heading back tonight for a birthday dinner. I hope everyone in the future has as good of a time as I did!
Jeff Real
Stopped in last night and the place was packed. It looks like it is going to be the new hot spot downtown. Easily the best Asian noodles in town. The food was authentic, the sake was fun and girls were hot. What more can you ask for?
Pat Lee
Love the food and the vibe of the restaurant. I mostly get takeout and they always have the food ready on time for pickup.
Maybe slightly high priced, but I believe a good value for the quality!
sean Jay
I really want to give them 5 stars the food was fantastic I had the vegetable shoyu ramen and tofu buns.
The service was super slow I ordered the drink special they came back 20mins later with my friends drink and told me they were out of the ingredients. I asked for the drink menu they came back 10mins later with our appitizer and menu then left for 30 mins before returning with our main and to take my drink order.
Helena Herrera-Turner
Food was good, service could be better. Waitress was friendly but barely came back - wasn't busy at the time but maybe short staff. Still would recommend since food was good!
Jenna Thweatt
Great place to get some good ramen! They have the staples down and allow some deviation as around each. They have occasional specials which are usually good as well. This place also delivers via Mr. Delivery, but it's not as good as in-house dinning.
Nilekhet Neumann
Ramen is definitely this place's strong suite, but that statement doesn't say much based on the fact that this place fails in one of the fundamentals of ramen: noodles. Don't get me wrong, the broth is absolutely heartwarming, that combined with locally sourced ingredients that have freshness that some big chain restaurants could only dream of achieving. The broth and toppings deserve 5 stars and a kiss on the chef's cheeks. But the fact that the noodles aren't perfect causes the texture to be undesirable. What's worse is that you cant even ask for the noodles to be softer because no cook is cooking the noodles, they're being boiled by an automated boiler on a timer. Based on the broth and the preparations of the toppings any pleb can tell that the chef is skilled and the cooks are trained and well coordinated, I have absolutely no doubt that the chef can improve the noodles.
The wait staff in general are very well coordinated and communicates well with each other. If they have the time they will even talk about anime with you (they are always playing some sort of nostalgic anime above the bar, a very easy technique to get the people to look towards the bar more often which results in people ordering more drinks.). I felt justified in leaving 20+% tip.
The ambience is very welcoming and calm. Something that not all restaurants even on church st can manage. Would definitely be a top contender for hanging with friends or a date, as long as you dont mind the noodles.
A small annoyance that I experienced was the omission of certain classics often found in ramen restaurants around the world such as udon and soba.
Samantha Gottwalt
I was very impressed with Gaku Ramen and the service we received. When it became clear that our order had been lost about 40 minutes into our experience at the restaurant, two servers and the manager made their best effort to make the situation right. As we couldn’t stay and eat our order (we had concert tickets and by the time our food was ready and we had to leave) the manager comped our meal and our server packaged up the ramen so we could take it with us. Needless to say, they went above and beyond to fix their mistake.
The ramen itself was absolutely delicious and flavorful, one of the best ramens I have had in the U.S. As I told the manager when we left, we will most certainly be back.
Doug Schnelzer
Best ramen I've had. Great atmosphere too! 🍜 …
Maddie Conway O'Reilly
Really good ramen, and all the ingredients were fresh. If you've never had ramen before this is a good place to go. I had a miso ramen with a side of the spicy paste (my favorite). Great flavor in the broth but not too salty. If your ramen doesn't come with an egg, get one, it's the best part! Servers were friendly although it was a bit slow when we were there. Will come back again!
Alexis Gorman
If you're looking for ramen, this is a solid choice. They have a good selection and I've never been disappointed by any of them here. The wait staff is really friendly, even if the manager seems like he's dealt with people's BS a bit too long and gets a bit irritable when situations come up.
Bottom line, this is a place I would and have recommended to my friends.
Lisa
Delicious, healthy food. Friendly service and great location. Strongly recommend.
Alexander Cheff
I brought my parents to this place when they came to visit me after moving to the city. We all wanted some real ramen so we dropped in. They both couldn't believe the TVs over the bar were playing Pokemon and other anime. I believe my mother's exact words were "Oh my God, it's Pikachu".
Split a bottle of sake with my father, Gaki has some good ones available.
All their ramen is pretty good and you can add a lot of things like black garlic to the bowl for not much more on the price. They serve really filling meals and though a few people say it can be pricy if you just want a bowl of ramen it's not bad at all.
Atmosphere is perfect for a college town and it's just a few steps away from the local game and comic book shop. Perfect business placement if you ask me.
If you're a man though be warned there is no men's bathroom, there is a unisex one and a women's one so keep that in mind. You may have to wait in a really long line.
Pat Valentino
Wonderful dining experience. The Ramen was delicious and service was pleasant. I would recommend it to everyone 100 per cent. Will certainly go there again when I'm in Burlington.
Thomas Bremer
It's ok sushi. The problem is it's super expensive. Not worth it for the price, if you ask me.
Hugo Matte
Went there yesterday, and I was pretty surprised and had to try it! First of all I’ve lived in Japan more then 12 years so I’ve eaten my fair share of ramen with the years. Gaku ramen is a little bit on the pricy side. I’ve tasted the Tonkotsu ramen which was good but I could know right away that the broth which is the most important part of a bowl of ramen isn’t made in house and it does taste like it. Don’t get my review wrong it is good but not what it’s supposed to be in consistency and also in flavour. Also a traditional tonkotsu ramen should have pork slices all around the rim of the bowl not a couple slices in the bowl.
Next up is the shoyu ramen which is a simple broth to make and it was good and I would recommend that one except one little thing, onions shouldn’t be in a ramen bowl and definitely not a lot of it.
Over all a good experience but there is a lot that can be improved to be a great little ramen place in Burlington that can offer a great experience to their customers.
L Biafore
Went on a date here, the food is amazing! The spicy tonkotsu is actually spicy, which my fiancée loved. I loved the fried rice- I was scraping the bowl into my mouth by the end of it. It's also beautiful. Gaku has a great aesthetic. The only issue I had was that it is very echoey, because there's no fabric or anything. Other than that, I can't wait to go back!
Kat Tremblay
Love love love! The food is so awesome. The staff really knows all the menu items including the sake, and can explain them in a way diners can understand. Awesome atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Sarai Gonzalez
Big and satisfying vegan ramen. The space is nice and the attention was good.
Stefanie Tate
We just happened upon Gaku and I'm so happy we decided to stay for dinner. The food was fantastic...I've never had ramen before (except from the old college days) and I couldn't believe how flavorful and delicious it was. My husband's pretty picky, and he couldn't stop raving about it all night!! A must-stop!!
B. Tamm
Delicious ramen and pork buns!
Erin L
Food was good, but it took a really long time to be served. Probably an hour from when we walked in before we got food. They seem like they had been slammed at lunch time though, so it would probably be worth going back at a less busy time for a second impression.
Gabriel Unger
Okay overall but with a range of highs and lows. Get the shoyu; not the tonkotsu.
Stopped here hoping for some solid, tasty, no-frills ramen. There were 4 in our party. Our edamame was quite good, and the ladies enjoyed their plum wine, which were generous pours.
I enjoyed my chicken shoyu, despite finding a thick noodle clump with an uncooked middle. My friend liked her vegetable shoyu. My brother found his black garlic tonkotsu very bland, with paper thin pieces of pork. My other friend is gluten-free and got the tonkotsu with GF noodles. She couldn’t even eat half of it. A clump of very soft rice noodles in a broth that had no particular taste at all.
The service was very friendly and attentive, though they forgot our spoons at first, and also an empty bowl for the empty edamame pods.
The decor was pretty nice, but to my preferences I would sacrifice some of that for better food, or maybe lower prices since this was slightly on the expensive side.

Gaku Ramen is my favorite restaurant in all of Burlington. However, lately their food has been lacking. I ordered the pork gaku buns and the chicken shoyu and added the pork belly. The pork belly was charred and burnt on the edges on the buns and the ramen. It’s a shame because I love this place so much. But lately, their food hasn’t been as good as when they first opened.
Morgan Gilbert
Fantastic service, delicious ramen and rice bowls (loved the pork belly!) and the food is both fast and fresh. Classic Japanese Cinema on the tvs over the bar make for a great atmosphere too! Can't recommend this place enough.
Jeremy Pratt
Love this place it is a gem there food is always delicious and fresh every time I go worth the stop in your taste buds will thank you
Lina Andrysiak
Fun and different place! The food is great. Very polite and knowledgeable wait staff, with ideas for customizing the dishes for more restricted diets. A very satisfying and healthy meal!
Jaden McKean
Nice staff and great atmosphere, the ramen lacks flavor and the pork/toppings were hard and not warm. Not a place to go for ramen, get the fried rice or apps.
Crystal Wiltshire
Food is excellent. Super fresh and amazing taste. A luncheon portion would be great to add to the menu. Staff was wonderful and a casual amotsphere. Limited menu items are great but portions also needed for travelers.
rj r
Pretty good food. Good ramen. Surprisingly good fried rice and gyoza. The crispy pork belly rice bowl is basically their regular fried rice with one thin slice of pork belly on top. Decent space, plenty of seperation between rooms for a slight bit more privacy than some of the restaurants in downtown Burlington.
Justin McKill
A must visit whenever you go church street. Well worth the price. I recommend the Tonkotsu and Shoyu Chicken.
Malina Kirn
Fabulous flavors, rich and authentic. Noodles are cooked perfectly, as are the soft boiled eggs. Prices very reasonable and quality beer selection.
Whitney
Traveled from Texas to Burlington, VT for work so naturally, the first thing I needed was something warm to eat! I googled Ramen/Pho and this place, along with a few other close options, popped up as good suggestions. I chose Gaku Ramen and I am SO HAPPY that I did. The first night I had a gentleman, by the name of Cole, wait on me a and he was such a joy. He was very personable and excited to walk me through the many Ramen options on the menu. He was very patient with me and made sure I had everything I needed. I ordered the Black Garlic Miso and it was perfection!
My 2nd night in town I went back to Gaku Ramen (because I had such a great experience the 1st night) and sat at the bar. The bartender that helped me was named Starr and she was just as pleasant as Cole! She kept my Pinot Grigio coming and she recommended the Spicy Tonkotsu. This dish was probably my favorite! This is the night I met the General Manager, who I believed was named Michelle (she reminded me of the actress Jes Macallan) She was simply one of the kindest managers I've ever met. Very down to earth and I could tell that she really loved her job. She took the time to make sure I had everything I needed and even though it was the end of the night and they were wrapping up she sat and talked with me & the other folks at the bar!
My 3rd & final night in Burlington I told myself that I would try a different place so that I could actually say I tested out different restaurants but, I found myself back at Gaku Ramen. Sorry, I'm Not Sorry!! ;) That night I sat at the bar again and the young man that was helping me was named Joseph. He was very quick and made sure I had everything I needed. This time I had the Spicy Miso! This one was equally as delicious as the other two and definitely carried a little heat. Just what I needed since it was a chilly 14 degrees! Once again the manager was there getting schedules together and closing down the restaurant but she still made time to come sit and chit chat with me until I was done.
I was only in Vermont for 3 days but I can absolutely say that Gaku Ramen made a fan out of me! And although the food was great the people working there is what made my experience what it was! Thank you guys for everything. If I ever come back to Vermont this will be the 1st stop on my list.
Jeffrey R
Pretty awesome noodles great seating and great service. They do have quite the nice collection of beers as well. Don't be shy to ask for more noodles for the broth.
Jay Norton
Always consistent and tasty ramen experience. There are not many options for authentic japanese ramen in VT and this is a great spot to get your fix.
Taras Lesyk
Enjoyed the ramen and ambiance. Friendly staff.
Shadow
We look forward to going every year before winter hits. The Tonkatsu, Chicken Shoyu, and Kirage, are all amazing.
My only complaint is that when we went this year they were closed for "emergency repairs" yet had no update on Google whatsoever. It just said it was open.
Aleh Veraskouski
Awesome place and good. Ramens are very unique. Desserts have some very special items. Probably, the most authentic Japanese place in the us I've seen so far.
Khamal Edwards
Got the pork belly rice bowl, it was delicious. Loved the seating outside. We got there close to closing and were the last ones in there at the end, but they didn't mind and service continued to be great!
Jessica Nallana Chakravarty
Loved the black garlic tonkotsu ramen. Noodles were delicious and the broth was rich and clinging. Additional soft boiled egg was a little over done. Had the bento box as an appetizer, and the mixed greens were fantastic with a mustardy dressing. The rice had clearly not been cooked to order and had the taste and feel of poorly reheated leftovers. Pork bun was yummy.
Anna Mohr
I just happened to be in Burlington this weekend and came across this place on my phone and thought I would give it a try. I didn't realize it was their opening night or may have thought twice about it but I am sure glad I didn't.
The place was full when I arrived but they still got me down pretty quickly. I had the Tonkatsu (not sure of spelling lol) and it was as good as I have had anywhere!
By the time I finished my dinner and sake (fun presentation by the way) the place was packed. Looks like Burlington just added a new long term fixture to the Church Street Marketplace area. Will certainly be back!
Dylan
Enjoyed the food well enough. Wasn't anything too special, but the service was nice and the prices were alright for Church Street.
Alex D
A favorite spot. Great ramen (especially the Shoyu), fried rice, their gaku buns, etc. A little slow at times, especially the bar, but otherwise awesome little spot right on Church St.
Meagan Van Woert
Delicious ramen and get the black garlic
Yum!
Ryan Cote
First real ramen ever and it was amazing
Matthew Wentz
Ramen was very delicious. However the menu prices were misleading and a little confusing. The menu said a certain price for the ramen with a boiled egg. But when I got the check they up charged me 1.95 for an egg even though it was supposed to be included...
John B
We visit this joint every time we are in the area. I'm not huge foodie but I know the term "umami" and if I had one word to describe the food here that would be it! From the buns to the broth the flavors are outstanding and memorable.
M De
Takeout: On time and nice when I picked up, but real “only ramen in town” vibes on the food. Just very average ramen…
Dustin Poissant
Great Ramen, but it's pretty much all they sell besides rice. No kids menu and not many other choices so if you like Ramen it's 5★ but if you want variety try another place.
Tasha May
I have never had a bad meal here! The Ramen is top notch and flavorful.
James
The ramen is pretty decent, nothing amazing but some good broths. Service is a bit slow on weekends, and servers are a little inattentive. Not the biggest portions, but fairly prices. All in all an ok ramen spot.
Alex
Awesome service.
Decent food! It can be inconsistent, but it's pretty good overall.
Great location as well.
Awesome interior design as well.
Can be a bit pricey.
Brandon N
Partner and I had a good time here, server was friendly, decor is pretty. The only thing you might consider switching up is the entrance. The merchandise just doesn't fit where it's been placed.
Ryan Peacock
Delicious! I had the chicken fried rice because I'm boring, but the co-workers I went with had all sorts of interesting bowls. No one complained! Could be, I guess.
Joe Wehry
The diminishing portion sizes on the past two carry out orders reduced this once-loved favorite to a fond memory. Good food and service, but no longer a great value.
Maddie Minogue
Food was okay, service was nice. We sat down later in the evening so it felt as though the kitchen service had slowed down.
Rick Kinsman
This restaurant has a great vibe and can warm you up after a long cold day of shopping on church street. The miso ramen is very good and has a great balance of flavors. I highly recommend this place.
Kaileigh White
Sooo good each time I've gone! The tofu buns are absolutely delicious, and I always get the tonkatsu ramen which is my favorite. Very yummy and nice staff.
Mason Maltais
Very good food. The ingredients are quality and prepared properly. The drink selection is excellent as well - try the plum sake!
Jitin Verma
Excellent ramen, tried chicken, vegetarian and shrimp... Chicken was the best. Also tried chicken fried rice and tofu buns... Again tofu buns were better than the fried rice... Overall good service and good experience.
Max
I love coming here with friends and family. The ramen is really good and the wait is typically very short. The staff are all very friendly and enthusiastic.
Bumble Bee
Decently priced for the amount of food you receive, especially the rice or ramen bowls. The atmosphere is pretty open, albeit comfy. Definitely a treat.
Suntory Sushi
Amazing ramen spot, the best i have been to in all of vermont. They have the best broths and the best buns around if your up for a ramen i reccomend this spot over any others, also try the buns!
Nick Landau
Good staff. I got the tonkotsu ramen. The chashu pork and marinated soft boiled egg were good. The noodles need work though. They tasted like Italian pasta noodles instead of Japanese noodles
Dude Brett
My hands down favorite place on Vermont yo eat. Can't even think of anywhere I'd rather go. Best ramen I've ever had period.
Kendall Fortney
While the menu is not extensive, what they do, they do well. The Tonkotsu was delicious, large and perfect for winter. There is also a wide selection of sake if that is your interest.
Brody Inglis
It was a dreary day so we were able to relax and warm up over some very filling Ramen. Very reasonably priced and nice change from the typical Church Street Restaurants. It’s worth checking out!
Elty Jade
The best bow of ramen ive ever had
Kevin Santiago
Good variety, I seldom go there.
You can find stuff that you cannot find in
some other places.
Good quality stuff!
I would go there every time in the future.
You should look at what they offer and
choose what is best for you!
Very nice place and I will go there again
in the future, I like that is not far from
where I live and it's not very busy in the
week-ends.
Jonathan Thomas
THE WORKERS AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT WERE SO HOT JUST LIKE THE RAMEN.
Keystin
BOOM! Staff could be slightly more attentative.
Topher Brayton
Amazing food, great service. Socially distanced very well with an online menu and tables spaced out very far! Oh, yeah did i mention the amazing food???
Nicole Wrenn
Service and food are fantastic. Our server Grace and the manager on duty were both wonderful. Definitely will be back!
K Rutman
Food is decent but expect to wait at least an hour for it. If you're in a rush or want good service, go elsewhere.
Debra Thibault-Cross
I had my first experience with a ramen bowl. It was fresh homeade and delicious! I will be coming back!
Michael Aranzullo
Food was Great. Michelle the Bar Tender, Server, Hostess was very friendly and full of excellent suggestions. She made my experience more enjoyable.
Austin Saflarske
Great food, and nice dining area, I highly recommend the pork buns as an appetizer they were incredible!
Eric Lints
Our first visit, but certainly not the last. Food was so good, great staff.
Bruno D
the place is very nice and with quality in seasonings! the dishes serve very well!
Jason Bellavance
I ordered the Black Garlic Tonkotsu and it was amazing. The staff was super friendly and the ramen came out quickly. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes ramen.
Scott “Grnmntvt”
All the food tasty salty. The pork steam bun is a high end less tasty version of the better inexpensive ones you'll find for a 1/4 of the price in NYC China town
Philip Yazbak
Amazing ramen. I recommend the shoyu. Great spot with nice drinks and great appetizers too. If you want ramen I burlington you gotta get Gaku
brandon cox
Good food, but very slow this time. Usually much faster service. Took 45 min to get food, we where there for 2 hours. I would recommend normally
RaeLynnShikure
Fast service and great food, as always.
Jake Messer
By far one of my favorite spots around to grab ramen at. I have yet to find a comparable place elsewhere in KC where I am from. I will plan a trip back here just to eat here.
Stephanie Watson
Good service and good food. Good selection of local brews. Enjoyed seeing Pokémon Indigo League playing on a TV behind the bar.
Zachary Delisle
The ramen is good, but getting it to you consistently takes the wait staff a longer than reasonable time.
Chris Piedade
Simple menu where everything is perfectly prepared! The vegetarian options are excellent and the pork was perfect!
Roame
Never had ramen in a restaurant. It was a great first experience and delicious!
Gray Latka
Incredible chicken ramen, I really recommend this place. Best ramen of my life!
Timur
Great place for ramen. Nice branding, location, food tastes great, interior is simple but looks good. Staff was friendly and on point.
Kristin Donovan
Enjoyed hot ramen on a cold and rainy day. Good food, friendly staff, a bit pricey for lunch, but ramen was delicious.
Knud Gosens
Friendly staff and good tasting food.
Brian Rosmus
A wonderful spot to come with any size group, it is never too full! The food and atmosphere are both top notch, a very worthy addition to Burlington!
X K
Always AMAZING and I'm so glad that they asked if i was vegetarian and clarified which items have meat
Sergio Mendes
Food: 5/5, only ramen place around.
Water: 6/5, easily the best water out there, perfect temperature, very clear, very smooth.
Overall 5.5/5.
Clayton Hamilton
Awesome restaurant. I've always had a great time whenever I come here. Food quality is consistent and top notch.
Oliver Blum
Tonkatsu Ramen was not as flavorful as advertised, but otherwise good.
Kris Lawson
Love them. My teenaged son's fave place. A must if you want traditional Japanese noodle bowl.
Vormacht S.
i thought the ramen was a little undercooked and i wasnt really prepared for the type of cuisine, but its good otherwise
S B
Friendly staff. Delicious food. Fair prices
Jacob Houghton
Very good ramen and great outdoor seating! Staff was very kind and speedy.
Abby Ali
A must go to when my fiance and I go to Burlington, friendly staff, always super helpful if needed, wonderful place to go if you just want a nice little stop to eat, especially an anime fan :D
Fisher Evans
Great atmosphere, good food (don't expect a huge menu - it's really just a ramen shop). Beer is tad pricey.
Bran
What a sweet little spot. Friendly and smily service. Would definitely recommend.
Rene Jenn Marentette Terris
Had a great lunch, I had the cold noodles, my partner has the shoji chicken. Both were very good.
Johann Silvanus
Great Ramen shop located on picturesque Church Street. Not a sushi place, recommend the Tonkatsu with char siu.
Kaitlyn Mesler
This place is awesome! We just happened to come here one day for lunch and I have fallen in love! The food is sublime and the staff are excellent! Love this place!
Larry E
Thought Gaku was excellent and is a great add to Burlington - high quality and fair prices. Ignore the few negative reviews, those must have been written by their competitors.

Terrific ramen! I had the shoyu base, which was intoxicating. The peak of savory. Plus, a very decent beer selection.

It's ramen.. it's not the best ramen, but it's not the worst in vt.. satisfies the craving. Staff is always polite, never had an issue.

Ordered takeout, got my ramen on time from a very kind waitress.

This place has excellent ramen! Some of the best I've found outside of Toronto. Good authentic taste.

Hands down the best chicken fried rice I’ve ever had. It is out of this world good. So flavorful.

Hits the spot! Strongly recommend adding black garlic to the broth. The cucumber salad was tangy and spicy.

I am no expert on ramen but I enjoyed Gaku. My local ramen restaurant in Lowell MA is better, more flavorful and better ingredients. I would come again

Had the best service and food here- our waiter was seriously the nicest guy. His name was Brennon. He made our night, so thank you 👏👏👏 …

Great food and amazing service. Make sure to add the soft boiled egg and save some broth for kaedame.

One of those restaurants where you wish you could go every night to try everything. Very friendly staff. And the TVs were playing classic anime.

Great dishes. Food seems authentic. The spicy tonkotsu is definitely more than "just a little spicy".

Food and service was awesome! Mixed drinks however could use some work

I know it's great food there but they've messed up or taken over 45 minutes for just one soup on two occasions now :/
Megan Niquette
Delicious as always! Spicy tonkatsu with a soft boiled egg all the way!

If you think of ramen as noodles in a cup you are in for a treat. Large portions and everything tasted very fresh.
