Reviews of Deep City Restaurant + Bar

A hip new American restaurant with a hint of southern flavor by the shore, popular location on the weekend with friendly and attentive staff.
Unfortunately, it shared the bathroom with the adjacent brewery and lack of the changing table in both men and women's restroom.
They also added a 2% hidden charge of "kitchen service fee" which I was not aware of before ordering. I would be fine if I was informed ahead of time or they charged higher price per dish to increase the pay for the staff but was annoyed to learn this while I received the check.
Still a decent dining experience and I would still recommend this place.

I was recommended to dine here by a friend who added that FOAM brewery next door is the best in state! The menu is small so I expect each item to be on point. Their decadent take on poutine was amazing, with hunks of short rib in the gravy and a whipped pimento cheese. The chicken burger and beef burger was completely forgettable. I was hoping the wood fired beets would be showcasing the locally sourced organic beets but maybe it just isn’t the year for beets, as they were watery and flavourless though cooked and dressed well. The service was excellent and their indoor/outdoor spaces were very welcoming.

We stumbled upon this place while taking an exploratory walk when arriving in Burlington for the first time ever. Best place we've happened upon in years by pure accident. The service by Claire what phenomenal. She was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive.
The wine and beer selection was fantastic, as was the food. They had everything on the menu, that applied, listed with gluten free, vegetarian or vegan connotations, which made ordering a breeze.
We ordered the beets (some of the best we've ever had), the vegan poutine, and a side of fries with the lemon aioli and a side of the beef gravy.
All of the food was beyond expectation and if we were staying here for more than one night, we would certainly be back. I can't recommend highly enough!

The place was on a few lists we checked, and got an average 4.7 rating, so the expectation was naturally high. However given the flakiness of the reviews sometimes, and it being affiliated with a brewery, I also tried to condition myself not expect too much. Well, it's safe to say that I did not expect to be this impressed.
We ordered multiple light vegan dishes, partly because we weren't hungry (constant problem with being on vacation). All of them were excellent. Calabaza (roasted squash) has just the right amount of tenderness and perfectly matched in flavor with the pureed black beans. The sauteed sugar snap peas were fresh and brightly flavored just enough to highlight the natural sweetness. The roasted beets did not disappoint either, offering a comforting and yet complex taste profile. I had not been a regular vegan diner and was not hungry going in, which made it even more pleasantly surprising how much I enjoyed.
My daughter also liked her chicken fried chicken (sandwich), but said she would still prefer a poutine classique to Deep City's version, which has whipped cheese sauce instead of cheese curds. I on the other hand thought the poutine is more fun with the sauce, pickled chilly pepper, and braised pork, a more savory and playfully interpretation of the classic.
By the time our server Marie asked about dessert, I felt that I should stop but wonder how good their desserts could be, so I went ahead with the white chocolate pudding. I was very glad I did - the lovely sweetness of the pudding was accentuated by the subtle bitterness from the candied grapefruit.
Overall it's a wonderful dinner! The 2 draft beers we had (She Doesn't Need U/IPA, and a fruit sour) from Foam Brewery also added to the excellence. The only small flaw I could find was with a couple pea pods, which were on the stringy side.
Last but not least, the prices at Deep City are quite affordable, given its sophistication. There are restaurants charge significantly more in the area that can't offer nearly as impressive quality. So, if you visit Burlington downtown/waterfront, you'll do well by adding Deep City to your list of must-visits!

Loved the fries! Lol burger was good too… everything we order was great!
Great food. Great environment.
Nice decoration.
The “picnic tables” catch my attention.
Very nice staff !!

Facing Lake Champlain on the western edge of downtown Burlington, we found Deep City (and it's sister bar Foam Brewers) while looking for a spot to eat on the day after New Years (there were not many restos open at that time).
The atmosphere is very chill with most seats on benches with large tables; a more communal style (although there are a few regular tables) in an old red brick industrial building. The menu options are very heathy and mostly come from local sources, so its very fresh and healthy. We had the Farmer's Salad, Roasted Beets, Mac & Cheese and Grilled Salmon; everything was delicious.
Service was very friendly, engaging and quick. Special call out to Stella who took great care of our table.
Strongly recommended and enjoy!

I had a really enjoyable experience at Deep City. My server, Alex, was friendly and attentive. I started with a beer and the Vegan Poutine, both of which were very tasty! I moved on to the Roasted Beets, which reminded me of steak with a rich, smokiness that was well complimented by the pistachio cheese. I would definitely eat here again!

Very cute chic restaurant that is actually attached to a brewery! The menu itself was very minimal but the food was pretty good! I got the poutine fries and hamburger. Very delicious. Staff was also really friendly and accommodating. There wasn’t really anything that made this restaurant stand out other than their cocktails name which I thought was cute and quirky.

I was there for the brunch and I must say it was one of the best I've had in a while. I had the Huevos Rancheros...so delicious! Creative plates, reasonable portions/ prices, tasteful. You have to try the homies (lil' potatoes)!!
The place is next to the Foam Brewery and they have their beers on tab (one of the best brewery around), which is great. The service was A1, and the place and the patio are really nice! Highly recommend. Lot of parking space.

The service here is positive atmosphere. The food, speed, and quality of the food is amazing. I ordered the grilled salmon and it’s amazing and watering. I would recommend to reserve a table for any party and enjoy your dinner here because you have an excellent time and service.
