Reviews of A Single Pebble
Kris Walker (kraizter)
We ordered the Buddha's Sesame Beef and it was delicious. Prices were pretty high ($30) so we shared the single order. Their website states that all orders come with a quart of white rice, however when we received our order it was only a pint of white rice and it was barely topped off.
The flavor and texture of the Buddha's Sesame Beef was pretty good, I have made many seitan in my time and this was not the best nor the worst.
This place had many options that we, as vegans, wanted to try. However, the extreme pricing really forced our hand to only try one dish.

Started with a Mai Tai and ate the chef tasting menu and was blown away. What a treat. Thank you to all the chefs in the back of the house!! amazing 👏 also, hats off to the bartender last night made my experience awesome even though I was by myself. …

Oh man this place. We'd skipped a single pebble earlier as we'd heard they're only for large groups then my husband made secret plans for outside date night eating, so glad he did. The food was some of the BEST vegetarian Chinese dishes we've ever had. The Buddha's sesame beef (seitan) and dry fried green beans were amazing. But the scallion bread, WOW. Basically a big, fluffy, steamed bun with dipping sauces. Really can't recommend enough especially if you're looking for plant based options. Everybody was safe and friendly. The portions are very large though and they come out as they're cooked so in no particular order. Very happy. Coming back again and going to try the chef tasting menu.

Our dinner was nothing short of outstanding. I've eaten in Chinatown in Philadelphia, New York, and San Francisco; this was the best Chinese food we've ever had... and it's not even close. We ordered the smoked pork belly special, Sichuan cucumber, Mock eel, Dry fry green beans, mixed Chinese greens, and Mapo tofu. The greens came out first- tender bok choy and mustard greens in a highly aromatic ginger and garlic broth. The dry fry green beans were absolutely perfect, tender crisp but blistered on the outside and well seasoned, topped with bits of crispy ground beef that added a wonderful savory note. The mock eel was a really interesting house creation, made by spiral cutting shitakes into wide strips. They were seasoned with what seemed to be a soy reduction and slightly crispy with a pleasant chew. The Sichuan cucumber they brought out next was a mildly seasoned, refreshing palate cleanser. The mapo tofu was sublime- so rich and with the powerful ma-la punch that I love without being overwhelming. Finally, the pork belly was very good with mixed vegetables and whole Chiles.
I also have to point out that while the majority of Chinese restaurants in America skew towards overly sweet and overuse of corn starch as a thickener- I guess to appeal to American tastes- A Single Pebble did not. Being on a keto diet, I was a little apprehensive, but I was thrilled that everything we ordered seemed to be within keto limits (skipping the rice of course). Only the mock eel had a mild sweetness to it, and the sauces seemed to get their slight thickness naturally from the main ingredients, and all the dishes really showcased the flavors of the ingredients.

Spring rolls and the tangerine chicken. Service was good. My expectations were very high given the hype. The food was good but something was missing.. nothing was unique

Single Pebble is a TRIUMPH. I'm a first gen Asian American who grew up with a lot of home cooking from my immigrant parents. I was also spoiled with so much amazing Asian food living in Queens, NY. Missing the authentic tastes of home and the restaurants of Flushing, I've had to resort to learning how to cook ethnic dishes after moving to Vermont. I absolutely love Vermont, don't get me wrong! But there objectively isn't a ton of authentic Asian food. The best way I can put Single Pebble's tasting menu is inspired and brilliant. It was AMAZING and made both myself and my partner love foods we normally avoid (like asparagus and eggplant). They're able to get textures and flavors I didn't know were possible. For 9 courses PLUS dessert included, I feel like the value for the quality can't be beat!

Friendly service and a wide variety of dishes. We especially liked the sweet salty flavor of the vegetarian mock eel.
Mandy
This is my favorite restaurant in all of Burlington, especially for more authentic Chinese food. I have driven 1.5 hours to this city after I moved out of the Burlington area, for the sole purpose of eating at this restaurant. The mock eel (made with shiitake mushrooms) is god-tier and I love their chef's tasting menu. It's really a delightful experience! Beautiful atmosphere and excellent service. Can't wait to come home to dine here again!
Lisa Marlene
Love the atmosphere. They took us in without a reservation. Everyone was working together. We had several waitress approach our table and made sure our experience was amazing. Had a fun date night here.
Anna
I brought my husband here for his first time. We both are gluten free (not just with an intolerance) and were thrilled they offer great gluten free options!
The mock eel was as delicious as I had remembered! We also ordered the broccoli and green bean app’s, both so delicious!
We ordered the lemon shrimp entree. The shrimp were delicious but the flavor of the lemon was too intense and overpowered the dish for us both.
Overall a great experience!!

Worth the splurge for Chinese!
Called to do a reservation right at the time I thought about it... I lucked out and was able to secure a table for two. Please try to make a reservation well ahead of time... I just got lucky.
Opted for the tasting menu. $50/person, which I think is worth the experience.
Started with the chilled hot and sour pork and tomatoes. Very fresh produce... tomatoes added a bit of sweetness and the pork was very flavorful. Cold dish.
Next was the Chinese BBQ plate. Didn't care for the tri-colored egg cake (made of regular and preserved duck eggs, which impart a slight hint of ammonia if you've ever had them) but it was visually interesting. Did not even see the shrimp in the salad, but the local pickle vegetables were VERY nice.
Chef's dumplings were not bad. Chicken and shrimp dumplings, two of each. Not fantastic, but not bad.
Mala Sichuan mung bean noodle flavors were great... but the noodles were thick and did NOT hold onto the sauce or anything else, so it was mostly "plain." But again, the FLAVOR of the sauce was great.
Asparagus fries, for as simplistic as they sound, were amazing. Perfect amount of crunch with the tempura and a bit of asparagus flavor. I am NOT an asparagus guy but I loved these.
Coconut PEI mussels were very good, but not the best I've had. These had a slightly-sweet coconut hint to them. Very small mussels as well. The broth was nice. I've had better though, compared to beer-broth PEI mussels.
Cantonese pineapple BBQ pork was all right too. Loved the sauce and vegetables... nice balance. The meat was VERY fatty though... I felt like I was eating the discards from the pig. (The tempura added a very nice welcome light crunch, though!)
Sichuan water fish was actually rather disappointing. It was just salty and hot. You couldn't really taste anything other than the heat from the red chili broth, which was seasoned with scallions, bean sprouts, and cilantro. I actually was fine with letting Ryan take this away... and I HATE wasting food.
Three cup chicken was great. (It's called that because it's literally made with a cup of soy, a cup of sesame oil, and a cup of wine. You're welcome.) This was actually pretty yummy.
They brought some white rice out but in the MIDDLE of the tasting. Weird timing, and it wasn't even worth it... the rice was rather mushy.
The dessert was most disappointing. On the menu it just says "seasonal;" upon asking, Ryan said it was slices of local cantaloupe. Which... feels like they cheaped out on the dessert, but it's local fruit and it should be good, right? Wrong. I felt like eating Walmart cantaloupe: just a melon of disappointment with a HINT of a hint of sweetness. Very bland.
Ended the meal with gunpowder and chrysanthemum tea and gunpowder tea, which came in very fancy tea pots. Loved the design. Tea was fine.
Atmosphere is a bit dim but not bad. Ryan was very friendly and attentive for the first 3/4s of our time there, but I'm sure he got busy.
All in all, definitely worth the stop. Despite my notes (very subjective AND situational), I still recommend the chef tasting menu. There is a vegetarian version as well.

Amazing food! Great customer service skills! Any company in the WORLD would die to have Becky’s and Alexa’s contributions/input. Please value the employees especially those 2.

Order the Red Thai Curry soup! This is NOT debatable! Best soup in town.
Danilo Jose
Amazing restaurant, I ordered the soup and fried rice, the soup is so big that you can shared it with 2 people, the waiters was very attentive, I love it.
Ray Gyles
My friend and I decided to go with the Chefs tasting menu. Our server took the time to explain all of the dishes so we knew exactly what we were getting. The food was amazing. We were happy with our decision to check this place out as part of our vacation. We definitely don't have these types of options in our hometowns!
Nupur Mehta
As you enter the place it's buzzing with people even on a thursday night.Beautiful ambience & loved the spilt level of the restuarant.
We ordered a lot of dishes & all of them were a treat to the taste- buds.A must on your list if you visting Vermont .
Adil Khalid
I really wanted to like this place.
Pros:
- very friendly service all around
- tons of vegan options
- big family style seating
- nuts and wasabi peas to begin with and orange slices at the end
- portions are a decent size
Cons
- expensive for what You get.
- mock eel was very salty, but the texture was amazing
I would say this place is overrated, but I might have ordered the wrong things.
Aaron Flenser
Food is pretty good and large portions. Kitchen was quick with the dumplings, over 20 min for two dishes and almost an hour for the third. Not super impressive.
Mark Warriner
Perhaps the best restaurant in Burlington, VT. Outstanding, delicious food, excellent service, friendly staff. Highly recommended. Do make reservations, very popular and with good reason.
Eric LaMontagne
Grab a group of friends and get the chef's tasting menu. You won't regret it. An awesome diversity and balance of flavors.
Parker Soares
Without a doubt the single best Chinese restaurant in Vermont. Our group was greatly satisfied by the excellent service provided to us throughout the meal. The menu features a wide variety of options, catering to a variety of palates. The menu features chicken, beef, pork, seafood, vegetable dishes, dumplings, soups, noodles, mock eel, and many more options. This location is best experienced in a small group, as food is served to be shared in the middle of the table. Definitely a must visit for the Burlington area.
Frank Pagano
One of the best restaurants anywhere. Good vegetarian selections, no obnoxious music, good portions. Seems to attract loud and boorish diners...but, hey, it's Vermont so there has to be some wierdness to make it legit.
The menu items are nonstandard Chinese. We always order the tasting menu and everything served is excellent.
Dessert comes with the tasting menu, a simple tapioca (photo). Perfect.
Jessalyn Bennett
Amazing food but highly recommend making reservations. They're always too busy to take in customers or booked with reservations for the day which is always a bummer.
Megan Niquette
Delicious. Took my mom here for the first time. We did the Chef's Tasting Menu and it's the best. Never know what your gonna get with 9 dishes to share, but it's all amazing.
Lian Brehm
I hadn’t been to A Single Pebble for over 15 years, so I was thrilled to introduce my out of town friend to this restaurant for a quick bite to eat. The service was impeccable, polite, engaging and the food still excellent. I was eager to try an old favorite Mock Eel and it was impressively wonderful. We shared the Tan Tan Noodles and they were also most excellent.
Highly recommended to anyone with a desire to explore the wonderfully unexpected!💗🌀
Shay Langley
This place is amazing! Authentic food, top quality ingredients, huge portions and great service. My partner and i in total ordered 5 menu items, have a BUNCH of leftovers and got a reasonably priced bill. Josh was our server and an absolute pleasure throughout our entire meal. Next time we will definitely try the tasting menu since we know everything that comes out of the kitchen is top quality. Can’t say enough good things. Go here tonight!
Hayley Gottfried
I cant comment on the food, it may be very good. However, you can't discriminate against someone with a service dog. That 100% illegal. I added more stars as it's not fair for those of us who haven't eaten there to completely drag them. I do hope that the service animal policy will be changed though.
Troy Lake
Always a great experience from atmosphere, to drinks, to the food. We are plant-based and never have a problem ordering amazing flavors! One of our favorite places in Burlington!
Aaron Early
Amazing dim sum experience. So much fantastic food. Must have ordered 3 or 4 rounds of food.
Charles Borchers
Fabulous chef's table dinner with wonderful food choices and excellent Saki. Great staff as well.
Marc Richter
Food here is beyond superb! Looking for a 2 person date, perfect!!!!! Non-rushed service. Pricey, yes, but very worth it. Every plate is sophisticated in taste and just downright yummy! This place is very much worth a visit and their take-out is also seamless, although order early!!! This place is popular and for good reason.
Brittany Carter
The hostess, waitress, and food (kitchen staff) were impeccable. We highly recommend this restaurant for excellent Chinese cuisine and bring our friends and relatives every time people come to town to visit. This is not your typical Chinese American cuisine. They bring authenticity with Vermont charm character and integrity to the Burlington food scene. Thank you!
Christine Luke
Expensive for Chinese food but excellent! Food is tasty and fresh.
Will Starzec (Skyline2962)
I can't speak highly enough about this place. We're welcomed to a clean, cool atmosphere, friendly staff, and an outstanding meal. I was expecting "Chinese food", but what we found something so much more. Most chinese food all tastes the same, likely coming from the same distributor, and this place must make much of their own dishes. It's honestly like it was cooked by Gordon Ramsay. We will certainly be back.
Chad Henry
Great time trying the 9 course tasting menu and eel. All courses were delicious with the tempura scallops being a favorite. Enjoyed the meal on the patio outside with our dog. Thank you for allowing her to join us!
Dan Bosley
We did the "chef's tasting " which was 9 small samplings of their menu (otherwise youbjust want everything). Food is served family style and brought out when ready. Hot, prompt, delicious and WE ARE STUFFED BUT HAPPY WITH CHOICE.
Highly recommend!!!

Contrary to what I’ve heard from a bunch of adult children, desperate to be part of a cancel mob under the illusion it will bring meaning to their shallow lives - all in response to a immature and self-important, self-satisfied and self-centered attention seeking TikToker’s staged incident - I’ve always found the food and service to be great. Highly recommended.
Becky D
Yummy tasty food! Great variety to choose from. Cons: I wish they had more restrooms and separated for the men and women.
J Lewis (sevenmtns)
Been coming here for a long time. It never disappoints. Service is great. Way more authentic here than those take out places. I see some not so good reviews on here. I don't get it. This place is great.
Crystal Devine
I have dined in and gotten to go countless times and have never had a bad experience. Yes, it is expensive, but their food is on point and I love that a lot of their dishes can be made vegan. Highlights include buddha sesame 'beef', double garlic broccoli and tangerine peel 'chicken'. Takeout process is a breeze with their online ordering platform; they are crazy busy and have limited hours so I would recommend pre-scheduling your order for takeout and making dine in reservations well in advance.
Domo Cana
This is an excellent spot to take a date or family, though the food quality is just good. I've heard it was better in the past, not worth going out of your way for any longer.
It's certainly a completely different genre from 'cheap Chinese takeout' and 'real Chinese', somewhere in the middle.
vigilant the undying
The family table atmosphere is great. Love getting a dish each and eating family style. Come here every time we visit. Had to get take out this year 2021 due to covid and no reservations available... But it was still delicious
R Schuyler Watson
Best Chinese food in Burlington bar none! A great place to go with a group as this is a share friendly restaurant with lazy susans at most tables.
Alex Zepka
I used to go there about 20 years ago. Still great, but it seems more of a tourist destination and less of a local thing. Dishes are about the same, so maybe it is just me getting older.
Aaron Settles
Best Chinese food I have hadin a long time. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly and provided some great suggestions. I would definitely go back for more
Sam Gibson
We had the tasting menu. It was a bargain for two people at $40 each to share 9 dishes of chef creations. Everything was delicious and balanced. Love this place! Some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. Highly recommend it and get a reservation! They are busy even on a Tuesday night!
John Gillis
Chef's Special was outstanding. Staff was excellent. One of the best dinning experiences I've had in Burlington.
Amanda Graves
Probably the best Chinese in VT. Wonderful family-style dining. If you're feeling adventurous, I always recommend the chef menu where they just start bringing you food at the chef's discretion. A great way to discover new foods! Our favorite appetizer is the mock eel. Yum!
cake
Highly recommend! We're vegetarian and they have plenty of vegetarian dishes to choose from. We shared the streamed veggie dumplings with chili sauce, the mock eel, and the salt and pepper tofu. All sublime.
Daniel Morse
Presentation was very nice. Food quality was not good. Super pricey for no reason. Service was great, server was a A+. We ordered the Peking duck, which was room temp, and dry. Veggies were nicely cut. Tiny portion for $17.50. Came with prepackaged Mexican tortillas. Which should have been scallion pancakes to be called authentic. I could fit everything on the plate into an 8oz glass. About $3 worth of food for $17.50 a plate. Hot sake was perfect. Came with my wife for my birthday, and of course because we were only 2, we got put at a tiny table in the corner near a door used by employees to bump into us. We were the only table with no “lazy Susan.” A plain table usually saved for last resort. Though we came when there were plenty of other tables. I saw 3 other tables being used by 2 people each (could seat 4.) Ours had 2 chairs and enough space for one to eat. So in conclusion, food was a bust. Looked nice inside. Pricey for nothing special. Not authentic, or gourmet. Just run of the mill Chinese food.
Samantha Jackman
I have never been so thoroughly delighted by a restaurant. If you haven't been, you're missing out.
With a chef at home, I'm often disappointed by food that costs more than the few bucks it takes him to whip up a feast. But this meal was truly thrilling. Everything was cooked perfectly with deliciously fresh ingredients, the waitress was sweet and inviting host, and that Lemon Drop? To die for! The 9 course chefs tasting dinner is worth every penny and then some. We all left stuffed - and with a big bag of leftovers!
I cannot recommend it enough!
Sarah Goldberg
The service was attentive, friendly, and polite. The bathrooms were clean and well taken care of. Lovely atmosphere and delicious authentic food! The fried oyster special and the shrimp accompanying our noodles were cooked to delicate PERFECTION. Even the microwaved leftovers the following day were satisfying. We felt the sorbet dessert we ordered was unusually sweet and closer in texture to water ice but still enjoyed its thoughtful pairing with a crunchy sesame seed edible bowl. The noodle dish we ordered was a tad salty but we considered perhaps this may be intentional to reflect authentic cooking? The flavor of the chicken dish we ordered was out of this world! Though a little pricey, A Single Pebble is definitely a hidden gem if searching for an alternative to the usual Vermont cheddar, bacon, and maple syrup infused menu!
Indrani Basu
Food is amazing. Everything we tried was delicious. The chicken in red oil was the clear crowd favourite. And we were celebrating my husband's birthday so they brought out a delicious cheesecake with a dash of cayenne pepper which was interesting and gave an unexpected kick! Definitely take empty stomachs here because you will want to pig out.
Heath Mann
The food was great. I was unfamiliar with a lot of the things on the menu so I got the chefs choice which is 9 different dishes made to the portion of the size of your party. I was very pleased with the food and the wait staff. Also the (limited to 4 or 5 tables) outdoor seating accommodates your furry friend as well!
Adam Hudson
I am a long time fan of A Single Pebble. The food is consistently amazing and the portions are generous. I really enjoy eating at the restaurant as the space is beautiful. I want to rent the food truck for my birthday!
Matt Lorence
The meal was excellent as was the service. My reservation was for 8:30 on a Friday and the restaurant was full. It was a little loud as the table I say at was close to two other tables, one being a large group. Once the dinner rush had passed it was a much more intimate setting for myself and my date. Overall a fine night out, I look forward to dining they're again.
Jeff Fearnow
My experience was years ago but looking at the pics (mock eel! Dry fried green beans!) Is making my mouth water to an obsessive degree.
This is NOT Chinese food like you know American style Chinese food. The chef learned in China. From Chinese. This food is legit, true-to-spec OG food as it would be made for Chinese by Chinese. That the chef is an Anglo is immaterial.
Myself I like pungent, salty food where it's required, and the two dishes I mentioned above are (IMO) the epitome of that.
Anytime I'm back in VT A Single Pebble is on my must-go list for year-round.
Sara Curry
What a wonderful dining experience! The staff are efficient and incredible at their jobs. The food is, hands-down, the best Chinese food I’ve ever eaten in my entire life. The familystyle serving method makes every meal and experience and a blast. They accommodated our group of 24 with ease, grace, and kindness. Thank you very much; this restaurant is a gem!

Came in on Friday night a couple of weeks ago. Had been raving to my boyfriend that it was the best authentic Chinese restaurant I'd ever been to and never had any complaints...
We were seated quickly and were given waters, but our server was slow to come to our table. We had been sitting there for quite some time and the owner came by to ask if our server had been around. We said she had not, but was right away once she saw the owner. It still took almost 20 minutes to get my drink.
We ordered several items from the menu and the food was good, albeit pretty salty, especially our Ants Climbing a Tree. The bus boys were very attentive and dutifully filled our waters, but not once did the waitress come to ask how our food was, if we wanted dessert/coffee, anything.
Again, the owner came by as we were obviously done and sitting there looking bored. We asked for our check and I told the owner that the food was good, as I figured someone should know. I would have preferred to give the server a tip that reflected our service, 10% (we were spending over $100 for two of us), but my boyfriend didn't want to be rude...on our way out I handed the bartender the $7 in cash we had between the two of us and told her to please make sure the bus boy got it as he was very attentive.
When I go out and intend to spend over $100 for my meal I expect excellent service and was given sub-par treatment. It would take some convincing to go to a Single Pebble again because of this, which was very disappointing since I have always enjoyed coming here.
Jon van Luling
The best Asian cusine anywhere in the Northeast. Do not sleep on this restaurant and if you are going with friends. Get the chef's tasting. You will not be disappointed!
Also great wine, beer, sake, and cocktail selection. Definitely worthwhile.
Jason Bellavance
The serving staff was extremely responsive and very pleasant. The food was incredible. I got the chef's menu which was a great amount of food and very delicious. I would recommend getting a reservation ahead of time as they are definitely one of the busier places in Burlington.
Theresa Flanagan
A Single Pebble is one of my "must go" places in BTV! The food is amazing! Also, it may seem a little pricey but the food is so packed with flavor and plentiful that it's well worth it! I always end up with leftovers. My go to orders are the Mock Eel, Buddha's Sesame Beef and vegetarian Ants Climbing A Tree. The tasting menu is also amazing for a special occasion.
Syd Michelson
I've been going here for years, always fantastic!
John Sonnick
Outstanding food. Even as a carnivore I more often eat the vegetarian alternatives because my wife prefers them and they're excellently prepared and really delicious. The only negative is that it's hard to get in on a whim because they're always booked - but no surprise.
Stuart Dropkin
Single Pebble is a culinary delight. We enjoyed a family dinner for 12 and could not have been more pleased. The staff provided guidance for our selections and quantities ordered, making sure our table knew which dishes were gluten free. The food was absolutely delicious, from soup to appetizers and main course selections.
Our water glasses were never empty as the wait staff were attentive.
Don't miss this place on your visit to Burlington.
Coletta Greenbaum
We had a great meal. My boys, one who like myself eats gluten free and and the other not, all had great meals. I especially liked the garlic broccoli and my older son had the dumplings and duck, he said it was really good.
Dez Roberts (she her)
I eat here about once a week, and generally bring guests here as well. Everyone loves it. They have great gluten free options and Ive never gotten sick from them. I love the mock eel, double garlic broccoli, veggie fried rice and tangerines chicken, but the pepper scallops ans lemom shrimp are great too.
Ben Rickman
Had a wonderful time here. Every dish was delicious. I loved the Red Thai Soup, it was amazing. Not the best place to bring a rambunctious two year old, but we managed. He loved the noodle dishes and the seemingly endless supply of white rice. The chow fun and Hong Kong lo mein were great as well.
Troi Perkins
My husband and I stopped in on what is called Dim Sum Sunday. Every Sunday the chefs cook small portions of different menu items. The waiters bring by 3-4 of these plates at a time to your table and tell you about each dish and their flavor profile. You have the option of accepting the dish or waiting for another. They even ask what your dietary restrictions are and make sure there is something for everyone (I couldn't have seafood and my husband couldnt have peanut so the waiter told the chefs who cooked up a variety of non-seafood dishes for me and made sure there wasnt any peanuts for my husband). Each round is 10-15 minutes wait time depending on dietary restrictions. There isn't a limit on the number of times they come out. If you have a special dish in mind you want to try they are good about accommodating your request. Best dish was three cup chicken special. The dishes are a little pricey ranging from 3.99 rice/noodle only dishes to 8.99 "specials". Still a great way to try a lot of the menu. The atmosphere and staff service was top notch. I'd come back for another Dim Sum day and recommend others to try it out too. Also they kindly ask that you put your phone away and just enjoy the food which is rare and nice!
Nicholas Lawrance
We had a lunch tasting menu.
It was one of the best meals I have ever had. Amazing dishes for a very reasonable price.
We heard the same menu is available at dinner, but it's a bit more expensive.
For lunch it felt like a feast of 11 dishes. Each dish big enough to ve considered a single portion, so between two people we where absolutely stuffed by the end of it.
It is $17 at lunch and $38 for dinner.
Knowing this I would still go for dinner, the food was that good.
The staff where excelent.
Every one was friendly and talkative.
We got some good tips as to where to go in town.
11/5 stars.
Perfect.
Raymond paul
Great overall experience for family style food. Menu has a variety of amazing selections that will have you planning your next visit! The quality of food and service is excellent! Truly managed to achieve excellence.
Rich Savage
Food was fine, nothing to rant about though. As we were informed, they serve the food as soon as it is ready - meaning very quickly, even if you are still eating the previous dishes. We felt rushed, definitely did not enjoy a relaxing meal.
Drew Casper
Wife and I had the lunch tasting menu and it was amazing. Authentic cuisine, very well prepared, and the service was great. Definitely want to come back for a large family style dinner.
Namath 802
Pricy for sure. Like many of us, our moms have spent half their life creating yummy meals for us. We brought my mom to do the chefs special where they bring out many of the cooks favorites and everyone shares from a large lazy Susan. Food just kept coming and EVERY dish was excellent! We went home with 5-10 POUNDS of food and full bellies. It's Oriental food based but certainly NOT your average Chinese buffet. For $40 per adult, bring your mom or any special, deserving giver in your life and have A Single Pebble help show them you appreciate everything they've done for you.
Lindsey Souliotis
Delicious. . Delicious.. delicious
Never disappointed with a dish. Doesn't matter what we've tried.
I've only had their wine, but it's a great pinio grigio!
Reservations HIGHLY recommended as they fill quickly.
Kristy Miller
Amazing as always! If you leave hungry, it's on you. So much food and so delicious!! The service was phenomenal. Great way to spend our anniversary.
Laura Hopkinson
Chef's tasting menu is $40 and includes 9 courses with at least 3 protein dishes. Great way to try a variety of items. Lo mein anything here is amazing.
Aaron Hill
Excellent food in a very quiet but nice atmosphere. We did the chef's choice menu and everything that came out was amazing. My favorite was the tempura fried sweet potatoes
Nick Herbert
Food was excellent, wasn't too salty for me.
I had a handful of dishes and don't enjoy salt much so that is saying something.
Staff was extremly attentive and not pushy nor rude.
Prices are what you would expect for great good.
Don't hesitate.
Dawn “Dawnie” Obrien
We had a wonderful Valentine's Day dinner. There was so much food we had to request boxes. They even gave us a flourless chocolate cake for dessert. But the real treat came later when the waiter called us at home. Somehow , I dropped my wallet and the honest man had it! So don't hesitate to go to "A Single Pebble " and ask for the honest waiter .

Everything is worth it, If you can’t decide if you want to try out something new just go for it, they don’t miss. Ever.
Zak Harmon
Phenomenal tastes. 5 stars. Best Chinese i’ve had anywhere in the US. Try the Hot oil chicken, szechuan green beens, won ton dumplings, three cup chicken. 👌👌👌 …
Irishlazz Vermont
I haven't been this high in food heaven since the scallops in Digby, Nova Scotia last summer. I was on my own for the evening and came specifically for the Mock Eel. I am an Alton Brown fan, and this was one of his picks for "The Best Food I Ever Ate", so I was very curious. In spite of it being busy I was seated right away. I totally recommend making reservations.
My charming waiter, Kristopher, sold me on the Chef's Tasting. Small portions of 9 variations on delicious, including dessert. An excellent balance of veggies & meats in a broad range of flavors. Each new dish maintained my level of nirvana. I was happy to have leftovers to take home for lunch the next day. The tasting did not include the Mock Eel, so I ordered that in addition. While it was tasty, it was not the OMG experience I was expecting from all the hype. The little slice of cheesecake to top off the meal was the perfect ending.
I most definitely plan to eat here again and I'll do the Chef's Tasting every time as it changes day to day.

This is probably the best Chinese food you can find in Vermont. But that's it. It's Vermont so your choices are limited. I am from China so I can tell you this is American Chinese food. We have tried a lot of dishes because we were a large group. It was good but it feels like an average Chinese restaurant anywhere in the US. This place is not cheap neither. So be prepared.
Blair Wolston
Have to go here if you're only in Burlington for one meal (which I hope isn't the case). A longtime staple of downtown BTV and a truly great food experience. I recommend the tasting menu where the chef delivers 8 or 9 mini courses to your table to share as a group!
Emily The dreamer
Always a delicious meal. This is one of my favorite places to eat in Burlington.
Allie Johnston
Slightly better than take-out Chinese food at a nice restaurant with great service.
I have a few complaints about this place. Most of our food came out lukewarm. The prices are insane for the quantity you get, although I understand that they use locally grown ingredients. The stuff we ordered was not spectacular in any way and not much different from the food I've had at other Chinese restaurants. There was a bone in our Peking duck but it wasn't a big deal. The Lo Mein was too soft. On the other hand, our server, Gayle, was lovely. The waiters constantly refilled our waters and they asked us how our food was for each dish they brought out. Everything tasted good. The family-style dinner with a big rotating plate in the middle is fun.
If money is no problem and you want to go for the experience, I recommend it. If you want great value and authentic Asian cuisine, I recommend Pho Hong.
Dianna Bryan
Fabulous delicious dinner for two on a late chilly night. Wonderful service. Romantic vibe and the one pot beef and fish soup were perfect for the night! We’ll be back. Thanks!

Q4 2019 Another visit this quarter.
-Lemon sesame chicken was great 9/10
-Pad thai was disapointing 5/10
-pot stickers were average 6/10
Q3 great meal - Pad thai / shredded duck / crab cakes. I highly recommend this restaurant....And I am picky. This is my only 5 star rating in 2019 so far.
Service was also good.
Q1 Pad Thai was not as good on previous visits in 2018 and 2017.
Joshua Haugh
Great Chinese for Burlington. Not that family friendly as no options for younger ones and a big NO to a half portion. Quality drink menu and enough selection for all on the food side, even making a lit of accommodations for hippies (i.e. vegetarian etc.).
Chester Elliott
A great place to share a meal with a large group, because you get a big round table with a lazy susan. It's best to try lots of stuff. The veggie options are great! The buddha beef (made with seitan) is seriously delicious.
Blair Breton
Fantastic specials and the nicest, most attentive staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner on our last night in Burlington.
Zach Smith
Food was all good, service was fine (except for the final cleaning while we were sitting), but the dim sum prices should have been cheaper. I'd come to try dinner, but have a feeling that cost to quality ration might be skewed.
Shannon Lyford
Best Chinese food I've ever eaten, outside of China. A little pricey but the Chef's Tasting Menu is absolutely worth it. Cannot recommend this place enough.
Steve Mato
It's Ggggrrrrreat! We split our time between NYC & Long Island. We visit Stowe VT a few times a year. A meal from here is a must every time. And we are never disappointed. It's my wife's favorite spot for Chinese food at that.
Neil Marriott
LOVE IT HERE!! Great great Asian-fusion food! Staff is awesome! Get ready to spend some money, but in my opinion it is worth it..
shortieXV
A personal favorite of mine. Great food and family style eating has made for a lot of memorable group experiences. It's the first place a share with people new to Vermont.
RM R
Great amosphere and food. Huge selection of well prepared meals which lends it to being a great place for family style dining with friends or for business! MUST Try the red curry prawn soup!
Elliot Schneider
Great place to get a variety of authentic Chinese cuisine. On the pricier side but it's definitely worth it. It's lazy-susan style eating which makes it great for a larger group of people.
Joseph
Helpful, happy and patient staff. Excellent dish selection and quality. Treat yourself to a table full of small dishes, and you'll be excited to return.
Nathan Moreau
Top 3 restaurant in Burlington. Whenever I have foodie guests from out-of-town the Single Pebble is always a huge hit.
I’ll take another order of everything on the menu thank you very much.
Shawn Ingram
Vegetarian and vegan options are excellent, and our server was so nice and helpful.
Jack Evans
Great tasting authentic Chinese food. Really the best place around for less Americanised Chinese fare. It is expensive, but the portions are fairly large, so be conservative with how much you buy.
Jack Waldbewohner
This venue would be called style, grace and class anywhere in the world. The drinks and food are too 1%. The ssd's staff makes each client feel like a wonderful and special person.
Peter Labrie
The food was wonderful. Service was slow. We had a 7:30pm Friday reservation and it took 30 minutes before we ordered both food and drinks.
Adam Saunders
Fantastic fried green beans and seitan dishes. Their tasting menu is also a great way to sample many menu items and explore new dishes. Make a reservation.
Brendan O'Malley
Terrific meal and very attentive service. Excellent vegetarian options. Fun family style presentation makes this good for groups.
Jacob
Possibly one of the best meals I have ever experienced. If you're feeling a bit adventurous I recommend trying the 9-course Chef special.
Joe Losinski
While Chinese food can mean a variety of things, I feel this is the best Chinese food in Burlington. Quality, authentic dishes.
Glenn Wilkins
Chef's menu was a lot of delicious plates. Left very full with leftovers. Busy place so make reservations way in advance on weekends.
Mike
Excellent food but wicked expensive (even for Church St). It's family style so you all share the food and it's delicious, but the price is wicked high. Def one of the fancier places to go on Church st.
Michael Tamlyn
Double garlic broccoli will get you eating your veggies. This place is divine.
Sienna Martz
AMAZING vegan and gluten-free options, charming outdoor seating, lovely staff! Would HIGHLY recommend!
Robyn Latta
There's are only a couple tables for large parks so you need reservations. The food is really good and is family style so it's meant to be shared, which is definitely easier to do with larger groups.
Derrick Ladeairous
Great tasting food and great service. Family style food that was delicious. Highly recommend
Bryan Dube
This is a favorite restaurants of mine! Food and service are both excellent. Id recommend this to anyone looking for a good meal.
Brett Tofel
Have never had a meal here that wasn't spot on and worth the price -- in well over a dozen visits over many years. Food and service are fantastic.
rj r
Definitely not true authentic Chinese food. Can be quite expensive for what you get. The best thing I had was the hot and sour soup. Would only go back if it was for a work dinner.
Sandra Ross
I have never been disappointed when eating at A Single Pebble. I am vegitarian and my boyfriend is an avid meat eater and we both love the food.
Patricia Parrow
I loved the food! The family had a great experience. We especially liked the tasting menu option!
dug freeman
Great food, good for vegetarians and meat-eaters, reasonably priced... only con is that it's always busy, and it gets kind of noisy. Def'ly one of our usual haunts...
Larry Legend
Big hype for their multi course dinner...too much fried and/or oily food. Left not feeling so healthy or happy. Over-rated at best.
Louis Carusone
Just had the single greatest meal of my life. Too much great stuff to choose from so we let the chef do it for us and it was amazing.
Jessica Hudes
Get the tasting menu. Wear stretchy pants. You'll thank me.
My favorite was the vegetarian beef/seitan and broccoli (or maybe it was teriyaki? I don't remember). Absolutely amazing.
Mary Kidd
Great food, we tried the Chef's tasting menu which was wonderful. Great way to try new foods and experience more of the menu.
MMM (MMM)
Tasty food and great service. Sometimes you need to have a reservation during busy times, like weekends or during the summer. The mock eel is my favorite
Tish P
Really great Chinese food in VT! :)
Kjardeaux
Highly recommend the Chef's tasting menu option. Wonderful assortment of very good, interesting dishes.
Emily Goyette
i lived in San Francisco for 15 years and have dined in most of the major cities in the US. This is the best Chinese restaurant I've ever visited.
N Legendre
One of the most delicious meals we've had. The service was excellent! We will return!
Kyle Mitofsky
The best asian food in town, in a town that has a lot of other options. Offers high end, authentic cooking that is delicious on every level.
Mark Schneider
Tasting menu provides great variety. Always an amazing meal. Wish they would allow mixing of vegetarian and non-vegetarian tastes.
BeachBound Nana
Getting my parents a gift certificate for the Single Pebble, was just featured on the Cooking Channel. I have been to about 5 of the eateries the Cooking Channel has raved about, all were amazing.
Rex Accavallo
Great place! The service is very good and the food is great 👍🏼 I was impressed. Highly recommended …
Noah Dion

Jay Berger
Best Chinese food in Vermont. Great variety, lots of veggie and other healthy options. Hard to see from the street if you're not looking for it.

XXX OOO
This was a great experience, we went for a birthday celebration, the staff was cordial and accomodating. Great atmosphere, you will get your money's worth.
Sheila McGrory
authentic chinese, which is hard to find in vermont. decor is pleasant but nondescript. the food is flavorful but quite heavy. mock eel is outstanding. attentive service.
Brennan Martin
Food is great, but I have had mixed service there. One has to be prepared to dine to their tune not necessarily yours.
James Lovinsky
Fantastic food and atmosphere, you can't go wrong with A Single Pebble. Make sure you try the Mock Eel and Dry Fried Green Beans.
Joe Shimek
Very nice 🙂. The sampler is the way to get a good idea of what they offer.
David Thomas
Amazing food. Always go with the chefs choice to get the film experience and a variety of flavors
Rob Ouellette
Great family style chinese food that is worth a visit. Far beyond any chinese place in the area with a dedication to doing it the right way. Youll be glad you came.
Tyler Wilkins
It's okay, bit pricey not sure why. Nothing blew us away but it's not bad. Service was the best part of the meal.
Jay Furr
Absolutely the best, and by far the most genuine, Chinese food in Burlington. Every other place is selling Chinese food for American palates.
Sylvain Leblanc
Upscale should mean more than higher prices... If I pay more, I expect much better food. The food was fine, but not worth the price.
Sylvia C
Came in on a Sunday at lunch when they have dim sum and everything was delicious! Who knew sautéed string beans could tase so good!
David Prentiss
By far the best asian food I have ever had, I have had the fortune of bringing family here as a treat and they all loved it as well. Dim sun Sundays!

michael mcgill
We entered a crowded restaurant without reservations and were as impressed by the food and service as by the owner's generosity in finding us a table and squeezing us in. Excellent meal, excellent experience.
Carter Neville
Always leave satisfied with everything about our experience
Alex Mac
Pretty expensive for what you get. Decent food but if price is a sticking point for you, there are other options nearby that are just as good if not better.
Al A
mock eel baby, mock eel!
I do like their mock eel (it's really fried shiitake mushrooms with sauce normally used with broiled eel (like sweet teriyaki soy sauce) , cha shao bun (like a sweet Filipino shiopao), and cha tzu style eggplant.
Food is served family style (share-share, spin that lazy susan!) which is a nice change of format.
The wait line is long, make a reservation!
Barb Potter
Great food, waitstaff are friendly and the mock eel is the most delicious appetizer ever!
Tim Stetson
