Reviews of Mr. Dooley's Boston
Not the best service but decent for a late-night drink
Walked into this pub with a few friends later in the evening. It is a small bar that gives off a few dive-vibes in the midst of Boston. It has some outside seating in a section of roped off side-street. There is not a lot of seating inside. Open fairly late most weekend nights.
We had a few small plates; the sausage, fries, potato skins, none of which were overly impressive but are simply bar food.
I recommend the Guinness float. Because why not have ice cream with your beer? It is worth a try for the sake of novelty if you have never had one before but is kind of expensive.
The staff was fairly neglectful. We ended up with two different servers and had to wait quite a while before we could order drinks and then again when we decided on food.
I absolutely love this pub! It is an incredibly authentic pub. I was craving fish and chips and a pint while on a business trip and a friend had recommended Mr. Dooley's to me. It did not disappoint! I went by myself and sat at the bar and ordered "the fish and chips and a pint, please." I was tickled that I didn't have to specify what kind of pint I wanted. The fish and chips tasted wonderful. Almost creamy! The patrons were great too. I will be back!
Great place! The food was really fun. We tried the Irish curry cheese fries that were super different and yummy. We also tried the Mac and cheese, which was excellent. Apparently they put whiskey in the sauce. They were having a special day of remembrance for someone and there was live music all day. The singer was awesome and folks began to sing along. There was a Strongbow cider on tap and the Guinness was awesome as well. It was a perfect place to spend a rainy afternoon. We would highly recommend this place.
Quaint little pub with a decent menu. We had the fish n chips and the Irish sampler-shepherd pie, Irish stew, and cottage pie-. Both meals were delicious and a decent size. So many other great choices it was hard to choose one.
This place is a packed pub full of locals (& tourists like us) for a week day- seat yourself at an open table or bar chair! We loved our pretzel with beer cheese and Rueben sandwiches. I also enjoyed their Irish Coffee. Plenty o’ Irish dishes to choose from!
Amy was the best....very attentive to my needs, and went above and beyond to make my experience worthy of 5 stars....well her, and the music. It was a mix of classic and alternative rock....chill, and perfect fit for my mood and the delights served to me with expedience and precision. Good job Mr. Dooley's....you made a picky finatical guy like me feel right at home...right away. Good prices too....for Boston. I recommend for Irish Pub officionados.
This place is so good that I went twice during my stay in Boston! Perfectly poured Guinness and authentic Irish pub fare, what more can you ask for. Both the shepherds pie and the fish & chips were amazing and well portioned. This will definitely be my go to place when I’m in Boston, great pub experience overall. The Irish server Pauline is the best (and the sweetest)!
A truly wonderful Irish pub in downtown Boston. The bartender took the time to educate me on Irish cider and Irish whisky. A truly enjoyable experience.
The Guinness here is top notch. This is definitely a great place to go after work to grab a beer or if you're on vacation
Really good fish and chips and Irish Beef Stew. Live music was very good. Fun place for lunch, dinner or drinks!
Great Irish pub! It's cozy and just feels like you're in old Boston when you're here. They make good food and strong drinks. The appetizer combo platter is really nice for 3 people to share, with really good buffalo wings, jalapeno poppers, tenders and fries. The spicy chicken sandwich, which I have to order anywhere I go, is EXCELLENT!
Nice place to grab a beer with friends. Descent selection and liked the atmosphere. Would consider elsewhere for dinner next time. Food was fair and the Ruben was not close to other reviews. Minimal corned beef for what you’d expect. See picture.
Authentic Irish vibes in an inviting setting. Indoor & outdoor seating. Very friendly staff; patrons a mix of locals (also friendly) & tourists. Food attractively priced for the downtown location; nothing fancy, but hit the spot. Fish, bangers, coleslaw all good; IMO and speaking as a cook, mashed potatoes and fries could be improved.
Great friendly place. Irish hotdogs were tasty.
We have fun 🤩 and drink black&tan beer 🍺
It’s amazing beer ever.
I love this place. …
Great atmosphere and delicious shots. Everything you would expect from an Irish pub. We did not eat there but definitely enjoyed drinks. On the weekend it is packed. Be patient because it’s worth it. Prices are very reasonable.
The atmosphere is great, although it can get a bit loud. The staff are all very friendly. They have a good beer selection, but I would say the food is just average. Overall it's a great spot to visit for after work drinks!
I was told it is the best pine of Guinness in the US.
Sure. Whatever.
I am now a believer. I have never seen a pint of Guinness poured with so much love and there is a difference. It truly is special here!
Wonderful place with a warm and cozy vibe. Food was good and came out fast. Also good drinks from the bar and one of the best Guinness pours I've had in the States.
Some rather unpleasant patrons. Bar staff seemed dismissive. The sausages with curry sauce were amazing!
Food was excellent and staff very nice! Great Irish vibes. Would definitely visit again.
The best potato skins I ever had! Especially good if you like light fluffy ones- similar to a baked potato but also crunchy!
One of the greatest dinning experiences we’ve had in Boston. We arrived without reservations and management made their best to accommodate our grupo, which included children. The food was fantastic and the environment super friendly! Will go back soon!
So glad I decided to get dinner here. I ordered the banners and mash and it was excellent. The banners were packed with flavor and cooked just until the casing started to crisp, it was so good. The makes potatoes were well done too. I wish there was a bit more gravy but it all tasted so good I'm ok with that. The beans were well done too. The soda bread was stellar. I had no intention of eating much of the bread but I ate all of it.
The apple crumble was really good for dessert and I'm glad I ordered it.
Everything about this place was exactly what I was looking for in a pub while on vacation!! It was bustling with customers, and live music!! The waitress we had was just the best, and the Christmas decorations were such a nice touch!! Thank you so much for a memorable dinner
A perfect pub for us while we were on vacation. Had a great live musician and it was lively even on a Sunday night with people singing along. The sausages, fries and beer were all solid.
Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Easy to find and fun foods
This is one of the best places to go if you want to get away. The bartender was doing his best to stay on top of things on a busy Thursday night! A place to stop and sit and enjoy if you can find a chair. Theirs a reason everyone hoovers over the bar. Its not just for the drinks but for the charismatic staff. They didn't even know it was my birthday, and they helped enjoy it while I was away from home on business.
The chowder and the Irish breakfast. Friendly, fast, overall excellent service. Highly recommend
Probably the best find yet. I've been to Boston a couple times and this little Irish pub has been the absolute best place to get a drink, chat up some new friends and grab some amazing drinks. Speaking of drinks, the bartender has some great insight on scotch and whiskey. Just ask, he'll be happy to fill you in.
Overall a solid dive bar. My only complaint is that the live music is so loud to the point where there is no chance you’ll be able to have a conversation with anyone
Really the best Guinness pour I've had this side of the Atlantic. The pub food was good and hearty. Great service. A nice pitstop in Boston.
Conveniently located right next to the Hilton, this pub is so much fun for evening and late night. It was pretty crowded when we got there so we ended up sharing a table with strangers but they were super friendly so we had a great time. There was a talented Irish singer/guitarist who played some really great music. The only drawback was how small it was. It is a popular place and when all the seats are filled there is very little standing room. We did not eat this time but we will definitely go back next time we are in Boston.
Great live music, excellent food, and when they tell you it's the best Guinness in Boston they lie. It's the best Guinness in America. No kidding!
Great workers, a wonderful bartender who helped this hungover man feel welcomed in the morning for some breakfast.
Stay for the music without kids at 10pm. It's an Irish bar, so order Irish food. Oh, and they interestingly enough had the best clam chowder on my New England trip so far--thick and clams and potatoes in every bite. Order a pint and an Irish pour as well, they're know for it. I brought my kids early so the music group was setting up. They reach capacity fairly quick in the weekends so we stood by the door to let others in.
I've been there many times. This time I was showing around an old friend from out of town, and we ate outside.the food was glorious, and service friendly. Try the fish.
My favorite place to visit when in Boston. Service is fantastic and friendly it is as if you are in Ireland at a neighborhood pub. A very wide menu with many traditional dishes and creative new ones. Also if possible go Sunday morning for a traditional Irish breakfast.
Very enjoyable experience. Hard to choose what to order, almost eerything on the menu was enticing. Fast and friendly service.
When I think of a classic boston bar, I think of Mr. Dooleys. I have always had a good time here. My drunk self lit up like a christmas tree when I saw they had tayto chips. I will be here again tomorrow and I am very excited. 1000/10.
Nice service and food at reasonable prices
Great local spot....real traditional Irish bar atmosphere. Very welcoming staff.
Live Irish music, comfort food, great atmosphere. we ordered snack combo, baked cod and mixed grill. snack combo has a little bit of everything, but the nachos is a little hard. Cod was ok. Love mixed grill. The waitress is very friendly. Overall experience is good.
Great Old Boston Irish bar atmosphere. Well worth a stop for a pint.
My husband loves Irish pubs, and he really enjoyed Mr Dooley's. It has a legit pub feel, plus music every night. The bar staff are great, and the drink selection decent. They also seem to have a loyal local following.
Great bar for my first breakfast in Boston, something tells me that I'll be back in there soon!
One of the best Guinness so far! The Irish Breakfast was excellent also! Great place.
Ok second visit: got Guinness of course. Tried the clam Chowder. It was perfect. And the Reuben. That was very good also. Everytime I go it gets better and better! They also got the Christmas decorations up with Christmas music. Very cheery! The staff is great also. Very professional and friendly. 6 stars!
I was there at this place with my two other friends. The food is good. They don't have a cocktails menu but they have a full bar open and they instantly made the cocktails we have asked for. Staff is good.
The bouncers were super nice, Cracked a joke about Utah beer being a joke. The service was very attentive and super speedy. I ordered the McGregor burger and it was delicious but it does need a sauce. My food was super fresh and arrived within minutes of me ordering. The live music was very loud but it was a Friday night so that's expected. The waitress was never far if we needed anything and was also very friendly. I love the Irish atmosphere. I would definitely return.
Real conversations are had here. This is the only Irish pub we could find in Boston with no TVs. Bravo, Mr Dooley. Love this place.
Great food 🥘 great music 🎶 made this Irish lass very happy 😊 …
First time in Boston. I was n Boston with a bachelor party and at Mr. Dooley's with the groom. Telling you that Mr. Dooley's went above and beyond to make our experience memorable would be an extreme unexaggeration. The beer is poured perfectly. Staff is incredible. Live music. What more could you ask for? Highly recommend!!!
Mr. Dooley's is a classic Irish Pub located near the Wharf in downtown Boston. You can get your corned beef sandwich or you can go for New England clam chowder either way you would be served in a historic bar setting on a back Street in Boston.
Boston clam chowder was something I've wanted to try while out here. We did at Dooley's and weren't disappointed! I also had a fish and chips and a Guinness. The fish was crisp and came apart nicely. The chips/fries were what you'd expect. And the clam chowder was rich and creamy. The younger bartender tended to us and did a great job. Stop in here for a bite and a beer if you're in the area.
Very traditional style Irish lublic house. Good food. We tried the same and the Sheppard pie, cottage pie and beef stew were all delicious. Also got the mixed grill which was good but there were probably better options.
Cute bar, drinks as expected and the potato skins were good. Bartender seemed a bit annoyed that I asked to taste one of the beers otherwise no complaints.
A great way to spend an evening. The live music was the best part! Professional and beautiful music made it a memorable evening.
Really cool Irish pub. Very intimate atmosphere inside. It was crowded for lunch, but we were promptly seated in about 10 minutes. The beer cheese and pretzels were so nice!
We had great time at Dooley's. Good Irish pub food and excellent service ☘️
Felt very authentic! Fun ambience, great staff. Overall, a fun time.
Went on a Thursday night, had some great food and Guinness. Free live music, great service.
Great place, good food and attentive service. The hot wine was great on a cold winter evening! Def recommend this spot!
Always a treat to go to Dooleys for lunch with a friend. Good food, good drink convivial waitstaff. What else do you need!
Best Irish breakfast I've had in the states
You can't pick a better place to grab a pint of Guinness in Boston.
Server was inattentive, not many people in the place but she had a small group of regulars at the bar that got most of her time.
Food was ok, but not worth the time & money that we spent.
Great staff!!
Delicious food!!!
Awesome performers!!
I went on a Saturday and there was a performer that had everyone's attention, everyone in the pub was signing and dancing, it was great!
Pair a good singer with good beer and food, what more can you ask for?
Our fave pub in Boston especially as it does not have TV screens. It's a proper pub
I love this place go there all the time something about the Curry fries I just can't live without.
Food was great, live singer was awesome. Nice atmosphere.
Good service, great pint, and enjoyed the bangers and mash😋 …
Had an excellent night out with family and friends. Musicians were on point.
This place makes nice Irish curry, which I've never had before! There was live music by an Irish singer, but his voice and guitar mics were set so loud it was almost painful. It might have been a one-time thing, I'm not sure.
We stayed up n town for a week and visited this the night before we left. I wish we would have gone sooner so we would have known how much we would have liked it. We had the bangers and mash (was average) and the shepherds pie (was fantastic). The kids had typical kid stuff like chicken tenders and grilled cheese and liked those. The fries were great too. I wanted to try the fish and chips. They looked good. All the staff we talked to had a thick Irish accent. As Americans that was nice to hear. Try it out. Cool little place.
Mr Dooley is a must stop when in Boston.
Pretty, beautifully decorated mini taste of Ireland. Great Christmas decorations, delish steak pie, shepherds pie, clam chowder and hot whiskey. Nice for an Irish seisun too.
Very close to Hilton Downtown. My son had the Irish Sampler which included Shepherds Pie, Cottage Pie, and Irish Stew. He said it was the best meal he had while we were in Boston.
Wonderful atmosphere. Very much like stepping into an ancient Irish pub in the heart of downtown Boston. Hopefully you get the privilege of having Alecia from somewhere in Ireland based on her accent serve you. She dishes out good beer on tap as well as "tell it like it is" commentary.
Fun Irish pub near fanuial hall. Very festive holiday atmosphere when I went
I almost didn't review this place because it's not one you should share lightly. Mr. Dooley's front door is a portal to downtown Dublin. A legit Irish pub with great people and an awesome atmosphere. Tip Terry well, and he'll take good care of you!
We had Guinness here as we waited for my cousin to be married, great Irish crew it was a lovely bar
Very cool music. The whole bar wad singing and dancing to Irish songs.
Decent place. It was right next to the hotel so, we decided to try it. Sadly, we just missed the live music.
The food was good. Great vibe and energetic place.
Great Irish Bar.
Holy Moses, best Irish pub in town. The bartender was hilarious and there was awesome live music
Delicious food and excellent service. I ordered the Cajun chicken pasta (YUMMY) and my aunt ordered the turkey wrap, which came out as a sandwich, but they corrected it right away. I also liked the ambiance. It was comfortable, relaxing, and a place I would visit often if I lived in the area.
Awesome atmosphere! Fish and chips was outstanding!!
Great pub with good live music. We went both at night and in the morning for breakfast. Was very good both times. There was a cover on Friday night, it was only 5 dollars. It does get very crowded but they have outdoor seating as well if you need to escape.
Absolutely enjoyed my time here! Wonderful atmosphere and food. Our bartender, Terry, was great and made us feel like a local. Definitely recommend stopping here for a Guinness and a good time!
Nice beer selection. Goes from empty to slammed at drop of hat. Love the no TV's. Forces people to interact. Nice irish whiskey selection.
Delicious food and a great variety of options to choose from. Very friendly service and a warm, inviting atmosphere.
Good food - great quantity. More beers could be included in the menu.
Great pub . Great food.
The Cajun fish tacos were excellent, and so was the service. Very glad we stopped in here using Google maps for a lunch spot.
×This is such a fun pub! Great food and service and live music every night!
Probably my favorite Irish style bar in Boston. Guinness on tap, frequent live music, and some of the most outgoing crowds I've ever experienced in a bar of any kind. Worth a visit just to say you went to Dooley's while in Boston!
Great pub and fantastic guineas pint. Bartenders are amazing and wonderful atmosphere
Was great for a quick bite. Good live music and atmosphere.
Friendly atmosphere, good bartenders, and a pleasant duo providing Irish music. Great combination. They just need to order more Murphy's beer.
5stars for the atmosphere. Live irish band, people dancing and great beer what rlse you want on a Saturday night.
Nice atmosphere, good food, decent prices.
We got here a little late and wanted dinner. Happy to wait for a table but there wasn't really a system for the servers to record who was waiting etc, so it was a bit all over the place. Once we got a table, was great!! The chowder was solid, and the mains were yummy pub fare. Live Irish music, good atmosphere. Great Friday night.
Spent a few hours here and loved it (stopped by for one drink....stayed for 5 hours and had dinner!) Lovely Irish pub, good Guinness, good food and great live music! The place has a really nice welcoming atmosphere. All the staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home.
we stopped for lunch and a few drinks, everything was great. sat at the bar, was a little tight but that’s to be expected. food was great, perfect pints of guinness, great wraps and sandwiches. would return for sure!
Outstanding Irish pub...great food, staff and atmosphere - to me, this feels the most like a pub from home (Dublin)
In Boston for 5 days of our honeymoon and had Mr Dooleys 3 times. (Actually walked out of other places and 1 good meal here made us come back, at least we knew what we were getting.) first night great server and loved the steak tips & fish n chips. Black n Blue beer and Rum runner also satisfactory. 2nd and 3rd visits smaller portion of steak tips and different server, nice but less attentive. The 2nd night she brought us our food and we never saw her again. Sat with empty drinks about 10mins before another server got us new drinks. They were not full seating so I’m not convinced it had anything to do with being busy, especially watching other tables be visited multiple times.
So I give them a 5 for flavor, atmosphere and at least 2 servers are worth the money.
Real Boston Irish pub. Good food and amusing service. You won't be disappointed, and if you are- tough luck! The best, in traditional Irish cuisine, God's honest truth!
every time I’m in the area I always have to stop here. It’s just great.
We stopped by for breakfast and really enjoyed the relaxed vibe of the bar/restaurant. The server was quick to seat us and friendly. And the breakfast was pretty good
It's a good local Irish pub. Clam chowder was delicious. We didn't order anything else. The service was good and we would return. It was a classic Boston experience, which is what we were looking for.
A great traditional Irish pub. With a visit.
The bartender was awesome. Great food. It was nice to meet locals and others traveling like myself. Great neighborhood pub in an urban center. Close to my hotel and many sights to see.
Great food and excellent service from Kathleen! Loved the authentic Irish music.
the wife said we should stop here for dinner since it was next to the hilton, it wasn't bad... I asked for cole slaw but got fries instead... the wife got shepherd's pie and I got the turkey club. my son enjoyed his cheeseburger! Maybe I'll come back again if we stay close to the area next time around
Delicious food, great service, great selection of beer, live Irish music, they even accommodated a child on a Friday evening family outing. Great experience! Feels exactly like you’d expect a pub to feel on the inside. Only a few tables, but people come and go pretty frequently. Decent prices, especially for Boston.
Kelly was fantastic, loved the atmosphere, will be back.
Wonderful experience, wonderful food, wonderful staff! The lobster mac and cheese was delicious and came with a light side of greens to cut the richness of the main dish... perfect! The atmosphere is exactly what one would expect at a Boston Irish pub. I highly recommend Mr Dooley’s
Great Irish fare, good selection of beers, Irish people working the bar. Fantastic Irish pub atmosphere and live Irish folk music.
This place has a real community vibe - lovely small Irish bar where the drinks are good, the bartenders are friendly, and regulars and travellers alike can rub shoulders.
Dishes are very greasy and fries are not enough cooked.
Service is fast and waiters very kind.
Quite the mixed impression.
The food was fantastic and was quick. The waitress, she was different story. No personality and practically threw our utensils on the table. I would go back for sure because the food was that good.
Finbarr is a legend. Pay him more. He's worth every penny.
The food was mediocre and very greasy. The loaded potato skins were very poor and the irish egg rolls were soaked with grease. Their drinks are expensive for what you get and the service was fine. The big plus right now is their great outdoor space that they took over so that they can allow us to be socially distant.
Really cool Irish bar. Had live Irish music (on a Tuesday!), great service and really good food.
The perfect Boston Irish Pub. Drinks, food, service atmosphere and music are the best.
The Taco Salad was the best. Rivals any Mexican Restaurant. The Hamburger was cook perfectly. My daughter's Ceased wrap was delicious she said. We all had to get doggy bags as the portions were huge. The only reason not 5 stars is the onion rings and French Fries appeared to be from frozen.
I wasn't overly impressed. Neat bar and dining room, kind of noisy, but I guess that's normal for a bar. Food was good, but nothing special.
Classic Irish pub with good live music. The atmosphere is great, especially when there's live music. The service is good. I've only had the curry fries and they were pretty good, but my friends enjoyed the food they had.
Good food but had to wait 45 minutes for my hamburger
Just arrived in city and first place we entered. Great chatty waitress service, live Irish music was excellent. Good selection of beers and good honest pub food. Going back for breakfast in the morning.done breakfast and full Irish was a beut. Back for tea and a burger with blue cheese went down a treat. Great atmosphere with music and chatty friendly staff. Well recommended
Finally, some proper bacon.
Proper hash browns would be good, but other than that, perfect brekky.
Location, service and the food are quite good.
Good Irish Bar. Had food here twice and was disappointed on both occasions...fish was overcooked and off and the burger was raw. In all fairness I wasn't charged for the burger. Beer was a bit pricier than other places. The staff were nice and the atmosphere was good.
Tasty, good quality irish pub food, nice atmosphere. Because it is slightly away from the tourist crowd of quincy market more relaxed place vs the pubs near the market.
Great place overall if you're looking for an Irish pub: low ceilings, great physical bar, friendly staff, etc. I had the fish and chips, which came with two good sized pieces of fried fish. The chips were a little wanting in size (cut) and texture, but overall tasty. Gets crowded. Will definitely be back for this one!
Great place , great live music and a great selection of craft beer
Live music, good food. Decent prices (for Boston). The wait staff is always attentive and friendly. Even with a packed bar, service is good. If you can grab one of the few tables, there aren't many better places to pass the time in the area.
Freaking love this bar. A real Irish pub if I do say so myself.

Great food, great service. Looks like a bar, but outdoor seating makes it great for families too.
Best food and service ever we got in Boston so far! Super natural Nachos and burgers were so delicious and amazing! Friendly staff! We would definitely come back!
Literally only reason we chose to come here during our weekend trip to Boston was the Google reviews. Thanks google, this was awesome. Tried the Irish sampler, traditional dishes of shepherds pie, chowder pie, and pot roast. This food was so good my complexion lightened, my hair turned red, freckles formed, and I started speaking with a heavy brogue.
Great experience including live music during lunch, wonderful atmosphere, and awesome service, thanks Keara!
Highly recommend
The best Irish pub in Boston hands down. Incredible staff (most Irish, ha) good food and the best Guinness. Ask for Terry!
We were visiting Boston from Toronto and we wanted to check out a spot with live music, so we settled on Mr. Dooley's. This place certainly has the Irish pub vibe, lots of wood and dark colors. The night we went there was a one man band with a guitar and we really enjoyed it. To eat we got the burger. It was a fairly average burger but found it to be dry. I would recommend trying something else on the menu before you go for the burger
The food is very good, the whiskey selection is top tier, they have cold Guiness at hand, and the service from the bartender was prompt and polite.
Not full of tourists, it's where the locals eat at and the place is comfortable.
You should eat or have a cocktail here, you wont be disappointed.
I'm not typically someone who writes reviews but WOW this place was exceptional. A true needle in a haystack find in downtown Boston. The service, the food, drinks, and atmosphere were all fantastic. I got the mac n cheese and my mom got the fish sandwich. Both were outstanding! The mac n cheese (pictured) was EASILY the best I've ever had. I cannot recommend it enough.
This genuine Irish spot is outstanding for lunch or dinner. I cannot wait to go back to this fantastic restaurant.
This place was small, full of character and had an amazing selection of Irish whiskeys. I loved the live music as well. This place is definitely worth a look.
Stopped here for breakfast while staying in Boston. Just visited Ireland 8 months ago and this is one of the most traditional Irish pubs we've been to in the States. The staff was quick and friendly and the food was excellent. Went for more of an American breakfast but just being in an authentic pub brought me back all those Ireland feels. Thanks Mr. Dooley's!
Splendid Mac and cheese. Lovely experience.
Neat pub. Perfect Guinness pints. Great layout with plenty of bar seating and cozy booths. Felt very much like being in an actual pub in Ireland.
Best Irish bar in Downtown, hands down. Great craic, Terry the bartender adds a star by himself. Fantastic!
If you like potatoes, this is the restaurant/Irish pub for you! They served potatoes several different ways. The curry over homestyle fries was fantastic! We had Shepherd's pie and a cottage pie. The Irish stew was great too! Live music. Fun times
Great atmosphere with lots of people and live Irish music. The service was incredibly fast and our waitress checked on us frequently. Prices were reasonable and the food was good. Definitely recommend this place for tourists.
My fiancé and I went to Mr. Dooley’s on a Saturday night in May. It was crowded, but we enjoyed great food and great service! We had the shepherds pie and the Dooley’s breakfast burger. We will definitely be coming back!
Well. Let’s say Irish pub and there you go.
I had beef stew, a plate of fries ( be careful - the chips and salsa appetizer are tortilla chips. Not french fries - I almost fell into the trap :-)
The fries were great. The stew could have been cooked longer.
... oh and a beer. Really good and fresh.
The pub is loud so it’s hard to hear people across the table. But if you want a pub, this is your place.
Cool authentic Irish bar in downtown Boston.
Not in MAIN area so had more of a locals feel then a tourist trap.
Great Irish music on a Saturday night.
Drinks were good and service was fast.
Space and seating is a bit limited.
Didn't eat, but food looked good.
Nice beer and cider, also there was a live musician although on a tuesday evening you don’t expect one. Very nice atmosphere, genuine Irish pub experience. Can really recommend the place.
Damn good vibes, great bartenders, lovely Irish music, always have a great time here and meet so many people from all walks of life. Good times here✨
First off have only been in on weekend afternoons. Say this because it is near the financial area so could be different crowd lunch hours and after work. Food is good not too badly priced especially for Boston Staff was friendly both times. Seemed good for families does have live entertainment Only 1 television in a small corner near end of bar and kitchen. Bathrooms aren't the cleanest
This was the only pub open late on Sunday night in Boston.
This place was recommended to us by the park ranger. The Ruben and Guiness to go with it were excellent. We ordered the nachos which were just steak fries with curry sauce. They were good but overpriced for what they were.
Fantastic food and atmosphere! I enjoyed the authenticity in every aspect.
I went with a Moscow mule and my girlfriend decided to order a winter cosmo. Both were very good. We also ordered the chili cheese fries (chili on the side) and the pretzels. The chili was very flavorful as well as the fries, they had some sort of seasoning on top and the cheese was melted perfectly. The warm pretzels were also pretty good but we were a little disappointed that they came with ice cold cheese
The best Guinness outside of Ireland.
Great Irish pub with a fantastic pint of Guinness
Food was par/respectable. Service was ok, until our server sat down with her friends at a table. I was trying to make eye contact for ten minutes. Finally, a separate server walked by and she took care of us.
Best fish n' chips I've had in the states! Authentic Irish bar with an Irish staff. The atmosphere felt pretty festive. Stop by if you want a really pup experience.
Great pub for a Jameson and a Guinness.
The server disappeared twice. Granted, she asked us a question, we talked for less than a minute amongst ourselves and looked back and boom they were gone. The tables were full, but I don't think they were THAT busy. My server friends will kill me for writing that...
I expected a bigger beer selection but they had good options.
Music was great, I miss Ireland all the time, and it reminded me of all the things I did try to avoid there because it was too touristy...but it was great here!
Super nice food, staff, and atmosphere! If you prefer a quieter dining experience, the restaurant is really peaceful in the midday, but at dinner service, there's all the live music, talk, and fun you can ask for! Highly recommended.
Great bar. Loved the drinks and atmosphere. Always cheerful bartenders and servers. Right next to the Hilton we stayed so the location was perfect for us.
Quick, delicious pastries and coffee. Cozy.
My favorite Irish pub I visited while in Boston. The food is great, the music is fun, and the Guinness tastes just as good as it does in Ireland. I'm not sure how that's possible, but it is. No Irish pub in Boston I visited had Guinness that tasted as good as it does at Mr. Dooley's.
Excellent service - waitress we had was probably one of the best servers you could ask for. The tartar sauce was the best tasted to date. The chicken wings were cooked perfectly.
Great Boston pub, cozy and classic
The irish curry was delish. We sat outside due to covid 19. So I can't rate the inside of the tavern. Service was exceptional.
Really cool Irish bar with great comfort food! Nice atmosphere with some live music not far from our hotel. I will go back next time I'm in town.
Great food, service and atmosphere!
The food seemed to be cooked previously and just reheated. We literally got our food in 5 minutes of ordering it. The potatoes were dried out. Putting the bangers on a bed of lettuce was visually disgusting watching the greese harden and the lettuce leaves wilt right in front of me. There was also way too many chives in the mac and cheese. The magners was room temp but over a glass of ice was delightful. Would not eat here again unfortunately.
Great joint! Great people.. Great food. Find this photo...
Back to boston for a second year but with the kids this time. Took them in for dinner and daughter wanted to go back. Food is good and staff are really friendly. Pub has a good feel with a mixture of both locals and visitors.
Was back again at st Patrick's day and was disappointed with the extreme door entry price to get in. Shame as we really like this place
Service was great and the Guinness was cold. I enjoyed the Clam Chowder, but the Shepard's Pie was only so so. Should have tried the Guinness Stew.
Excellent, friendly service. Great atmosphere and tasty food (had the curried chicken).
Got a 'full Irish fry' it was good and a fair price, but definitely wasn't complete. There were no beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, black/white sausage, or potato bread. Would still go back though.
As real Irish as it gets. Great bar staff, authentic and tasty food, Murphy's on tap and you can't find that most places. Live Irish pub music by real Irish pub musicians. The perfect pub for a pint, a plate, and a tune.
Stopped here on a whim for a pint and really enjoyed it. Friendly staff and patrons, good beer, and good food. Will definitely make a point to come back!
Good full Irish and Barry's tea
Bartender was really cool. Price for a pint was a bit expensive, but that's Boston now a days anywhere. Great place for a first date.
Great atmosphere, great beer selection, great food, great music!
Friendly local bar. Great drinks and people. The food was not bad.
Great environment. The Guinness I had was A+, but food fell a bit short. A bit loud for me but I'm not going to dock them stars for doing an amazing job at what they are trying to do.
Nice, clean, quiet, music every night, I believe. We spent two evenings and an afternoon there hanging out and trying Irish whiskey! Servers all had Irish accents! Cool.
Cool 😎 Night. Good Music 🎶 Drop in Surprise
Spent multiple nights here, door staff sucked different prices for entry for our group. Some bartenders awesome, some not so much
Opened on time happy pleasant staff. Decent food at a decent price. Proper bacon too not Canadian ham. Half decent pint of Guinness for the States.
More Guinness pulls than any other bar/restaurant in the US....easily the best authentic Irish pub that I've ever been to...thanks to the locals that turned us on to it...went back three times because it was a great spot to regroup and plan our next move...can't recommend this place enough!
My wifes food was great, I ordered a lobster roll. It was not good. It came on a regular hot dog roll, the roll wasn't buttered nor was there a side of fresh lemon.
Surpringly fast 'n tasty burgers and pub fries. They pour a proper Guiness (I got my certificate to prove in Dublin :) Thankfully, NO TV at the bar. Way too many pubs have TVs. Bartender (John) is great!
The Shepard's pie was out of this world.
Oh my God lemme tell you, the fish and chips was to die for, it was so fresh and flakey and just the right amount of golden brown batter. I was in Boston for 4 days and ate here twice
Cozy place for breakfast. Friendly staff with irish accents. Amazing Irish breakfast!
Classic New England food, authentic and delicious !
Great local place for live music and to grab a pint
If you're looking for a traditional Irish meal, here's your spot. Nice and relaxing spot to grab a bite.
Great Irish pub!
Authentic Irish pub in Boston. The food is good and the service and setting are as well. Tough in Boston with COVID, but my wife and I liked it.
Great service. Clam chowder and the fish & chips we're awesome! Would have paired well with a Guinness, but have to go to work later.
Chopped salad was good, wife didn't like the lobster sandwich roll and the fries are not the best. Service was average so 3 stars. Nothing bad nothing good
Awesome experience in Mr dooleys. A genuine Irish bar in the heart of boston. The staff make this place what it is,especially our waitress Pauline, so kind and caring.
If you enjoy good Irish music, well poured drinks, friendly staff and comfort food you're in the right place.
Never a bad experience. Friendly staff, good food, good drink prices.
Great place! Cozy Irish pub with excellent food and live music. We went for dinner and went back at night for the band. Highly recommended.
My long time old Musician friend Dave Foley plays there on Monday's and Thursdays. Check him out..👍😀 …
Amy was really sweet, first time in Boston and the food was delicious! Will come again!
Happened upon this pub staying in the Hilton next door. Solid pub food with even better entertainment and mulled wine. My English wife said this was the best mulled wine she's had - happy to have found the spot
Local watering hole in the Financial District. Live music was amazing.
Great Irish bar with best pint of guiness in the city. No TV, Irish music almost every night and lots of good banter. My favourite bar in the city!
Great food. Great customer service.
Amazing food with great service. The Irish brown bread was the best I have ever had.
Fantastic bartender! Great drinks, great chili, great music! Go here. Very nice outside patio.
Live music, friendly staff and one of the few places where one can find proper Irish whiskey. We ventured through the evening in quest of a rare Midleton which we found at this venue. Head here on an 'off' night to meet locals instead of tourists.
We were in town for a weekend and had never been to Boston so I did some research for good food near where we were staying. Me Dooleys was rated a 4.5 and had a picture of Apple Pie Sangria on their webpage. The Sangria was the reason we chose this restaurant but I can assure you, the Sangria tasted nothing like apple pie or anything APPLE! Actually it had no flavor at all! I ordered the Irish classic dish, shepperds pie that was just ok. For these reasons I would not rank it higher than a 3.
Cool place. Food and service very good.
Defiantly a local seen and not touristy. We only got a couple of beers here as there was standing room only on a Saturday night. Nice place. I will like to go back to try some food.
Wonderful atmosphere, great selections, friendly and quick service. Clean restrooms. It's a must if you're in the area.
You’ll have a great time in the Mr Dooley’s. Food is great and fairly priced, excellent clam showder! No screen which allows a friendly Irish feeling. Live music for even more Irish nights.
Awesome food, drinks and service
The Irish sampler was superb! And the chopped salad and the brown bread! All topped off with live music!😄🎻. Atmosphere was fun and typical Irish pub style! …
Serve strong dtink, great beer and comfort foods done well. Meatloaf, potroast, burgers, nachos all generous servings and friendly service.
This place is great. Friendly staff that gice the same service to locals and travellers alike. The beer was excellent. A perfectly poured guiness. Food was haddock and potatoes. Fish fell apart when i glanced at it!
Excellent place!
Great service and good. Irish sampler food was amazing. Live Irish music. Bathrooms are not handicap accessible. Great place. Definitely a muust recommend.
Straight up Irish bar. Guinness was cold and delicious.
Food was standard Irish fare.
Left my credit card like a idiot at this bar a couple of weeks ago. The staff were so nice to walk it over to the Hilton to ship it to me. Great live music and fun bar.
Great food and a cool Irish pub atmosphere with many of the staff actually from Ireland. The chowder is awesome! I will definitely be going back here again when I'm back up in Boston.
Good quality pub food. Award winning clam chowder. Local beers on tap and large pours of good whiskey. Nice Irish Pub ambiance with live music.
Great atmosphere and genuine pub experience! Situated much like a pub off the cobblestone streets of London, Mr. Dooley's Boston has a great array of authentic Irish dishes.
Great irish pub. Food is great. People are friendly. Beer is fresh. Atmosphere is relaxing and it's hard not to have a good time
Friendly staff and good food.
Changing my review after more time here, food is good booze is great and bartenders and atmosphere is amazing. Love Terry in a straight non-homosexual way :/ mostly.
Awesome pub worth checking out, great music, food and drinks definitely worth the visit. Be sure to get there early to grab a seat at the bar or at a table before the music starts!
In the area on business and happened into Mr. Dooley's. Great place to have a Guinness and Shepard's Pie. The beer cheese appetizer was incredible and I would highly recommend.
Excellent upscale irish pub. If you are able to go around the holidays, all the better. Gets packed right after work but then thins out to a comfortable level.
Good and friendly Irish bar and restaurant off State Street near old State House
Best Guinness pint I've ever had. Perfect pull. The shepard's pie and fish an chips are great.
Unlike other typical Irish bars of Boston, Mr Dooley's has an ambiance of it's own. They have Murphy's on tap, which is hard to find in Boston. They have authentic Irish food, and not just American bar food. The bangers and mash, live band and good times are just one of the reasons why one should visit Mr Dooley's
Service is good, attentive and friendly. Decent selection of bands, Irish music features good performers, Colm O'Brien is worth seeing when he is there.
Probably my favourite Irish pub in Boston. They've got fantastic curry fries here. They're actually proper English chips too, which makes for a pleasant change.
Nice place , good food and drink 🍸
Has a great environment, and good beer and draft selection. Good for a pint with chums. Food is passable. The live music is wonderful.
The Sam Adam's sandwich was probably one of the best sandwiches I have ever had!
Everything we ordered was delicious. Fries were done perfectly, lobster was fresh, and our fried fish was perfection.
Fish and chips were average. Nice little Irish bar and grill in the middle of downtown Boston.
Good food and often live music. Bar staff are friendly and service is fast. Unfortunately we heard some derogatory comments from customers about Irish. In an Irish bar?
Excellent. Great atmosphere. Clean.
Great staff.
The food. Was. Fantastic!
Probably the best Irish bar in all of Boston. They have various drinks, coffees and hot chocolates with a fantastic Guinness
Experienced great service; food came out quickly and prices were good. Grab yourself a Rudy’s Rum Runner for $5.
Good food and friendly staff. Prices are very reasonable for downtown Boston. Stopped in for a few meals while I was in town on business and I would recommend it. I'll be visiting again when I'm back in Boston.
Excellent place to eat for authentic Irish grub! Ample portions as well. Enjoy with a cold glass of Guinness!
Great local Irish pub. Lots of regulars and live music. Never had the food but love the pours.
Music was great, Irish specialties only OK. Steak tips were better, oddly enough. Very nice staff.
Dinner and irish music, great crowd, especially at Christmas time. Enjoy.
This is a authentic Irish pub, all staff are from Ireland the food is traditional I went for breakfast. I had a Irish breakfast which is 2 eggs anyway, blood sausage, white sausage Irish ham and potatos, baked beans Irish toast, top with a Guinness what a meal.
Great atmosphere and live music! Food was classic Irish fare and friendly staff! Glad we stumbled across it!
Visited a couple of months ago and the service was excellent, food was amazing, hearty portions and live music made the night. I’ll definitely be back.
We had the full Irish breakfast and it was the closest to Dublin's I've had in a while!
Small intimate pub. Great food, Irish and American dishes. Great Guinness pours.
The best authentic Irish pub run by and staffed by great Irish folk. Beautiful dark wood bar live music and friendly faces.
Perfect local Irish pub. Live music session nightly. Fantastic Guinness and the friendliest bartenders. Try the fish and chips - never disappoints!
Cozy pub, great staff very friendly.
Packed bar, live music all time. Service e a little slower than other bars but nothing to worry about. Gokd selection of beer. Will go back
EXCELLENT food! Fast and very friendly service. Reasonably priced for good sized servings. Will go back.
5/5 would recommend. Best pint of Guinness in downtown boston and a real Irish spot.
Maybe the best Pint of Guinness in downtown Boston?
Very good
Great Irish pub. Great jig band on a Wednesday night. Get the Guinness
The night we went they had live Irish music and plenty of beers on tap. Fun atmosphere with friendly people
Food was amazing, atmosphere of was warm and welcoming Irish singers were great. Will definitely go again.
Awesome hideaway, great service and delicious cheeseburgers. Outdoors seating is comfortable and welcoming. Service is prompt. Love this place.
Ideal place for drinks with friends
I LOVE the New England Chawder there 😍 AMAZING! And the stuff was really nice, as well as prices were reasonable. Also, they do indoor dining! …
Great atmosphere , live music, friendly staff.
Visiting from out of town and stopped in for fish and chips. Delicious! Bartenders were super friendly and provided great and fast service!
Was looking for a chill Irish bar while visiting Boston. Was not disappointed by the bar and it's atmosphere. Plus half the patrons were speaking with thick Irish accents.
Good service but the beer was a little warm and had a lot of foam. Tried a different beer and that had a lot of foam. If you go stick to the bottled beer.
Great pub Redbreast Irish whisky and El Sativo
Love this place..... excellent food; great music.
Mr. Dooleys was the best Irish Pub to be in on St. Pat's Day by far in Boston. It's a great pub for a tday. Good service and great people.
Great spot to grab a point and chat. Quaint with no TVs and a true Irish look and feel. The staff and musicians are also amazing.
Great pub and Irish inspired band the day I went. Hung out with my cousin here for hours with great service, too!
Good food , good service , Holly great waitress , very cozy.
Good Irish food. Good for kids before dark - still a pub so there's drinking. Fun music and good service!
Best Irish pub in Boston. Everyone there was from Ireland.
Yummy scallop mac n cheese, excellent service, nice pours on the drinks. Lot of locals, just a great place!
Standard cookie cutter irish pub. Beer selection is terrible and it tastes like they don't clean their lines. Service was good though.
I had the Irish stew. It was fantastic!
Great music. Really bad fish and chips. The fish was some rubbery rectangular fried something or other. Not what you'd get in ireland
My lady is from Galway and she really enjoys the Guinness at Mr. Dooley's! Fun and upbeat place to enjoy a delicious beer!
Great place. Clearly a local favorite for good reason. I was surprised to find live music on a thurs night. Awesome place for a quick pint or bite!
Very good Irish pub in Boston - good food, service and music but I don’t understand why they’re charging $9 for a pint of Guinness when it’s $7 elsewhere.
Love this place, from the first sip of clam chowder to the last jar of Guinness. One of my favorite taverns in Boston area.
Great place to visit for drinks and food. Live entertainment and we always have a super time!
We Are Irish Rovers. From Saratoga Springs N Y. Doing a Irsh Pub. Walkabout. .... Mr Dooley ' s. Is our top pick in Boston. ... John. bahind the Bar Days .. always takes Good Care of Us Every Time We are There Food and ... Drinks are the best ... We will be heading back There In About 4 weeks
Now that's a pub!!! Loved the no TV's!!! Now that's a pub!! Atmosphere was awesome! And not to mention our bartenders too!!! Thanks for a great night!
Didn't eat here but had a great time! Music and atmosphere was fun and very Irish-y
Live music was awesome. Welcoming. Beer was good. Food was Irish. Decoration was stylish.
Wow, the chili was awesome... A friend had the clam chowder and it was amazing! The service was effin' the best... Can't say enough positive about this place!
Six of us went there for some food and a few Pints, Food was great and the Pints were top notch , Service was A1
Absolutely love this place for business lunches. Quiet enough to talk. Good food. Servers are friendly and very competent.
Music, food and brews all terrific. Lots of singing, a little dancing and happy faces all around. Couldn't have chosen a better pub!
Food was AMAZING! Music was great. The wait is definitely worth it. Great atmosphere.
Nice place. Music live awesome place
Great bar! Good really good and the best Guinness pour in the city.
The Irish breakfast is dope omg delicious and the price is good, if you are not that hungry just get the half because is really big.
The food is great very friendly staff and most of the customers are easy to chat with.but most of all the pint of Guinness is the best in the country
Great fun
Superb irish style pub with excellent food. The live music is quite enjoyable also!
Cool traditional Boston bar. Nice staff and drinks.
Great food atmosphere pint of Guinness. One of the best bar man you will ever meet Jerry
Great service, awesome drinks and Terry is a great bartender and customer obsessed!
One of the best irish food ive ever tried. waiters and bartenders are great.
Great music and a great pint a must stop by for all lovers of good Irish music, food and craic.
Late lunch. Good food. Good service. Awesome playlist.
A perfectly genuine, friendly, Irish pub where you can unwind, enjoy friends, down some excellent pub grub, and, if you time it right, take in some entertainment.
Great beer selection and the Bangers and Mash was excellent. Service was very good.
Nothing overly impressive, but it was nice, has a good location, and people were friendly. I recommend 😁
A nice crowd, standard pub food, great drinks and Friday evening entertainment. I always enjoy Mr Dooley's.
Few drinks w my sister's. Grest live music and friendly staff.
The steak tips were underwhelming, the clam chowder wasn't all that great, and the fish and chips, while decent, wasn't worth the price
Great brunch! Dishes are pretty big, so if you are not starving to death, consider sharing.
Great old fashioned pub atmosphere, and good live music. Highly recommend!
Love the place. Great atmosphere. A true Irish pub.
Awesome pub. Great food and friendly atmosphere. Would think I was in Dublin if not for the
Service was good, food was good and location was within walking distance.
Really good Irish Breakfast!
A Gem. Simply a Gem. A Beautiful & authentic Irish American pub with great bartenders to match. I'll be returning for sure.
Amazing bar and staff. Great food and drinks
Great fun, people, live music and service!
Great atmosphere. Live music. Good food. Great service. Loved it
Best pub in the city. You can not find a better pint of Guinness anywhere in the States
The best breakfast we had in Boston. The staff was great and we had a great time joking with them. Definitely a do over!!
Fair priced drinks with live music. It wasn't the kind of trad session I hoped for, but it was good nonetheless.
I was the guest of a few friends and first time here. Food was good but not the place for a quiet meal. ;)
All the employees we spoke with there really were from the old country. Friendly and homey.
Great Pub!
Great atmosphere. Live music all Sunday and the beer selection was great.
The staff was weird and the food was just ok. Good for us at that time but if we could have we would have chose another restaurant.
Great old school Irish bar. Food is terrific, not like chain sports bar fare.
Typical Irish pub, with good clam chowder (or should I say chowdah).
Great place..nice people and staff busy on a Tuesday night
Decent food. Great beer. Cool atmosphere. Irish server
Real Irish pub, not far from the fakes. Great service, selection, atmosphere and music.
Get the blackened chicken pasta! It's so good and flavorful.
Went with friends yesterday, had a really good time.. bar was very cozy and the bar tender was awesome!
Been in Boston for the last few days and I have just found bass on draught here and it is a good pint. Pity I'm off home now.
Great bartender. Fun time. Great music and mini Frank's. Will go back soon!
Good Irish food and atmosphere. Great chowder and shepherd's pie
What a fun place! Great music and drinks! Highly recommend, the music is awesome too!
Good service but breakfast not very goog. Great place for live music and drinks at night
Typical pub, great atmosphere, no TV's. Good spot for a pint and chat.
Homely atmosphere, nice staff, and good food/drinks. A diamond in the rough for the financial district.
Fun vibe but the food was meh... The Guinness stew I received had neither Guinness or beef or veg for that matter
Legit bar downtown. Great bartender with Irish accent.
Love the place! Wonderful Irish Pub and great live music!
Best pint of Guinness I've had in Boston and no TVs, which makes it a proper pub.
Very popular pub. Good comfort food. Great atmosphere
Want to take a step back to when bars were about the people and drinks then head to Dooley's. No Tv's, no distractions. Just a great time, every time.
Has to be the Best Irish Pub outside Ireland excellent Guinness and the sunday breakfast is class.
Best Irish bar in the city of Boston
Great beer, great food, such a friendly staff, live music
amazing Irish fare! live music by talented artists and fantastic service.
Great bartender, great selection, really had a great time having a few beers there
Service was great. Love the atmosphere. Food was good.
Good atmosphere, good beer. However, do not order nachos: they are dry and not good.
Authentic food well prepared .. awesome atmosphere
Crowded but in a fun way, great band and atmosphere, great place to hang with locals.
Enjoyed the music good food and friendly people
Live music, amazing food, friendly staff. What more could you ask for!
Loved the food, loved the ambience, loved the beer, loved the service, loved the music, simply everything was wonderful.
Food was great. it was a little pricey for me but I am cheep I am sure the prices are fair but great food and super fast service
